OKAY OKAY I have to finally express my thoughts about Kuro II after the rewatch
Me and Null agreed that episode 1 is just... a lot better than a lot of the characterization going forward. Despite the eye gouging (I cannot defend this. Alois is very mentally ill and needs to take it out on someone and I think he has misogynistic tendencies and self-hatred for his own femininity that he decides to hurt Hannah because of it) Claude was written more how he should have been the rest of the series-- stoic, annoyed, but ultimately showing glimpses of care or something adjacent for Alois.
Delete the filler episodes and add more Trancy house development in general.
Alois is a lot less malicious than I remember. Before the duel happens he's literally just going to show Ciel to the bathroom. He only tries to hurt Ciel when his life is on the line, and even then, he begs Ciel to try to understand him as he's dying.
NONE OF THE REVENGE STUFF MAKES SENSE!! WHY WOULD AN 11-YEAR-OLD ORDER THE DEATH OF THE PHANTOMHIVE FAMILY! Ciel is smarter than this! I know demons are charming but Ciel is an extremely smart kid and literally solves crimes every day. When Alois starts explaining things, you'd think that after the duel Ciel would actually try to process it before all the torture stuff happens. Also, why would that "arsonist" allegedly hired by Alois confess to it? Was Sebastian paying him off? We know none of this actually happened!
GOD Ciel's characterization is horrendous. He kills the alleged arsonist without remorse and then is prepared to kill Alois then, later on, is like "ugh I could never kill that easily" YOU JUST DID??????? Also, when he becomes a demon, he completely leaves his servants without any regard for their well-being despite them caring for him for three years. Even though he's a demon and such now, he's not going to change his personality like that. Sebastian was under orders by Ciel to find new staff, and instead of just hiring a really good cook, maid, and gardener who had defense experience or whatever, he took in three people who had nothing left but their abilities and showed them genuine kindness. It's debatable how much of the kindness was really Sebastian's but it stands that Ciel would not abandon his servants. At the very least, not Tanaka, who he's known all his life. He wouldn't do that to Lizzie or Soma or Agni either! He cares about all these people. So he and Sebastian are just wandering around flower fields forever? Why don't they just go back to Hell where Sebastian will still be his servant?
Another point with the demon thing: I fully believe that it was just done to pander to Sebac1el shippers (censoring so this doesn't come up in a search for the ship because that is the opposite of the goal here).
I forgot how creepy Claude was in the later episodes. There were parallels between him and previous Earl Trancy that should have served a stronger narrative purpose but just made it look like he was sexualizing the two boys.
There's only one scene that actually intends to make Alois' CSA feel disturbing, and it's when he's laying motionless in bed and saying how Trancy looks at him with hunger in a different way than Claude does. They were so close to the point! Also, one of the maze questions is about Alois pretending his trauma didn't happen so why do people insist he enjoyed his abuse?
When summoning Claude, why was none of the contract about getting away from Trancy???? "I don't care about that old pervert" YOU ARE BEING BRUTALLY ASSAULTED?? Sorry Alois would have def ordered Claude to kill him in my mind.
Every scene with Hannah, no matter how serious, portrays her in a sexual light and I HATE it.
WHY WOULD SCOTLAND YARD THINK THAT CIEL IS ALOIS. THEY HAVE WORKED WITH CIEL FOR YEARS.
The maze idea was cool but, again, executed poorly.
Grelle's characterization is better than Season 1 in terms of showing her skill.
The Hannah contract was still confusing after multiple watches and idk what was going on in that writer's room.
I think that's it for now but dear god. This series is so much. If all of Kuro II Tumblr was hired to write it then it would have been genuinely good

Rant
Actually in light of the many delights of sixteenth century women’s names in Scotland, that just makes me even more annoyed about Reign. I mean OF COURSE nobody was expecting accuracy from it and it’s supposed to be a bit of fun (and actually I think it has aged well compared to other series which CLAIMED accuracy but never achieved it, cough cough the White Princess). But I still get a bit annoyed with the names they came up with for the Four Maries, because not only do I love historical names (and Scotland had some odd ones) but it was a very very weird decision on behalf of the writers.
First of all in my personal (and therefore subjective) experience the concept of the Four Marys is one of the most memorable things about Mary Queen of Scots (other than, you know, the fact that she got her head chopped off). And they all have very different faces, so I think the audience were capable of telling them apart- and even if they weren’t you could have given them variants (one could be Marie, one Marion, e.t.c.).
Secondly though the alternative names are horrendous? I don’t want to insult anyone who might have these names (my own name is not particularly nice either) but honestly they just make me want to vomit a bit. Each to their own, if people like them that’s fine but they did seem quite lazy choices too. Sixteenth century names are no picnic (lots of old lady vibes) but they are BEAUTIFUL compared to Greer.
So because I apparently don’t have anything better to do (a lie, I was working on a project which is how I got onto the topic of baby names in the first place) I have decided to waste my evening thinking up some alternative suggestions which sixteenth century Scottish parents might have chosen for their daughter instead of Mary. I have tried to keep the sound and vibe of the names they chose for the show instead, so that actually rules out the more common names like Mary and Janet but hey at least that makes things exciting.
First up is Aylee. Which, though that is not AT ALL how you spell Eilidh, they get points for trying to make something sound plausibly Scottish? I think? I mean there’s every possibility that they just plucked the name out of a hat and weren’t thinking of Scotland at all.
Eilidh is a beautiful name from the Gàidhlig which is very common in Scotland now (and when I was at school it always really confused teachers from England when they were trying to call the register). But as far as I’m aware wasn’t much used in the sixteenth century (though a lot of records about Gàidhlig speakers often Anglicise their names- Aoife to Eva, for example). And if it was, it certainly wasn’t popular in the Lowlands where the Four Marys came from (Fife/Lothian/Stirlingshire/Lanarkshire- loosely of course). So what could you use instead, if you were a sixteenth century mother who had wanted to call her daughter Mary but, idk, wasn’t all that keen on the Virgin the week she was born?
Well Helen or Ellen or even Helenor might work. Derivatives of the name Eleanor are not a direct equivalent of Eilidh but Helen is about as close as you’re going to get for the mid-sixteenth century among the Lowland aristocracy. And although its a bit of an old lady name now it was very popular in Scotland from the sixteenth to the 20th centuries and has the fortunate associations with the beautiful Helen of Troy and with St Helena, the mother of Emperor Constantine. Alison is another possibility if you want something with the ‘Al/El/Ayl’ sort of noise- yes Alison is both a first name AND a surname in this period, bizarrely. You could also go with Elspeth which was a very common variant of Elizabeth- you tend to see Elspeth more in 17th and 18th century Scotland but I think it was used in the 16th century too, just that Elizabeth tended to be written in the official record.
One consideration though is that I believe Aylee is meant to be the Mary Seton of the gang. Which means the writers of Reign didn’t actually have to stick to Scottish names because the historical Mary Seton’s mother was Marie Pieris, a French lady-in-waiting who came over with Marie de Guise. So they had the whole wonderful, elegant world of French baby names to play with! Alas, what could have been...
Next up is Kenna which... again points to them for trying to vaguely sound Scottish (albeit in the most American way possible) but Kenna will always remind me of men called Kenneth, which is, I’m sorry, not a sexy name. And to be honest I don’t even know what to do with this one. I mean if you want a name starting with a K you could always use Katherine? Not as common a name in Scotland as it was in England but still knocking around and frequently shortened to Kate or Katie, it might work? Otherwise I have no idea what to do with this one. Just call her Agnes and be done with it- it was Mary Livingston’s mother’s name and could be stretched into Anna if you tried, which almost (i.e. not at all) rhymes with Kenna. What does it matter. I don’t even care anymore, and neither, I think, did the Reign writers.
Third we have Lola. Which is the only one of these four names I have ever heard used in real life so that’s a bonus! And probably the only bonus to be honest (do NOT get me started on the particular brand of upper-middle class English women who labour their daughters with this name, which in itself is not so bad, but pronounced in the patronising, long-vowelled tones of a Waitrose mother calling to her Little Dahling, it gets on my nerves).
Luckily though this is a name for which I can think of a good alternative immediately- Lilias.
Yes once again it’s an old lady kind of a name now but I PROMISE you, in the sixteenth century all the hot young Scotswomen chasing fairy lovers/dancing with the devil/defending their border castles against the English were called shit like Lilias and Janet and Isobel and Barbara and, idk, sodding Beatrix. The historical Lola Mary Fleming’s mother was called Janet and she STILL managed to attract the attention of the King of France and acquire the nickname la Belle Écossaise when she was in her forties and had given birth to eight children.
Old-fashioned names ought not to hold Young Ladies of Character back in the world, and anyway you know what? Eventually the Lolas of this world will be 80 one day as well (and I’m not saying you can’t be a hot bad-ass when you’re 80 too, but that’s off topic). Lilias fortunately preserves the liquid double ‘L’ noise of Lola and has a nice meaning too.
And so lastly we come to the greatest abomination of the lot - Greer. I mean... I’m apologising for using ‘old lady’ names but honestly the Reign writers should be forced to do penance for inflicting this one on any character. It is the baby name equivalent of a block of granite, but less sparkly. Personally, I am also biased against it because I have a pet hate of surnames used as first names, ESPECIALLY Scottish surnames (and I’m not just talking modern ones like Mackenzie, I fully include the much more common and even traditional ones like Gordon and Douglas in this). But at least Greer Garson’s name was a nod to her mother’s surname which wasn’t really an option for this Mary Beaton stand-in- I’m not sure that the even the Reign writers would call a character Renwall. Either way Greer does itself absolutely no favours.
HOWEVER. I will cooperate. I will do my best to find you a hard, slightly ugly but also kind of quirky and cool name from sixteenth century Scotland that starts with a hard G. And funnily enough it’s even easier than Lola was because we have two, quite common nicknames that would do instead.
Margaret was one of, if not THE, most popular baby name for centuries in Scotland (except perhaps Mary) and among its many variants, a particularly popular one in the sixteenth century was Grizel, sometimes affectionately shortened further to Grizzy (though I have only seen this in the 18th century). Sometimes (like with Mary and Marion) you even get two daughters in the same family, one named Margaret and one named Grizel. I will admit, though this name summons up grisly images (haha), I have a soft spot for it so I think it could work, especially if you place all the emphasis on the second syllable.
The other alternative is Geillis. Which I *think* might be a nickname for people named Egidia from what I can tell? I’m not 100% on that one but both Geillis and Egidia crop up now and again in Scottish history from the twelfth century until at least the eighteenth. Not a name I would revive for any of the children I won’t be having but hey, you all liked it when Outlander nicked it off a historical woman persecuted during the North Berwick witch trials. And sorry, it just has to be better than Greer. Even Kentigerna and Triduana (names that the Scottish nobility unfortunately had access to but, mercifully, I have never yet seen used) is better than Greer. Even Lady Douglas Sheffield (though that one is England’s responsibility) had a better name than Greer. Even Ephesia is better than Greer.
I mean alternatively the writers could have saved themselves time and just done what 60% of the Scottish nobility did when faced with a clutch of daughters and just called them Margaret, Janet, Agnes, and Isobel, with Marion, Elizabeth, Helen, Christian, and Jean/Jane/Joan kept in reserve. But that would require them to use Wikipedia for all of three seconds and I think that might have been beyond them.
#Alright rant over and apologies to anyone whose taste in baby names I have insulted#This is not likely to be seen by anyone anyway is it#I don't mind though if it helps someone name a Scottish character one day it will be enough#I have had it up to my eyeballs with all these lassies called Breanna and Bronagh and Kaylee in Highland romance novels#Scottish names

drunk opinion on wtf the rest of EU wizards are doing during 2 dark 2 voldie: the endgame
A DRUNK OPINION HAS BEEN SOLICITED. alright.
So I think this is regarded as overwhelmingly a problem of the British Isles.
... Although we don't really know about, eg., Ireland, I guess, so maybe I should say a UK problem? but then talking about the difference between "the british isles" and "the uk" even is assuming that geopolitics is 1:1 across muggle and wizarding societies, which isn't really assured... i am leaving that thought there. We will call it "a UK problem" as the story overwhelmingly takes place in England and Scotland. ONWARDS.
Anyway, in a previous conversation @misfitmccoward has pointed out that the Quidditch World Cup is an international event, and it's attacked by terrorists in 1994, which is well publicised.
So even though I think it's definitely regarded as like a civil war in which European wizards and witches ought not to intervene, I think there's probably like, the international confederation of wizards quidditch committee is probably like 'CAUTION AGAINST GAMES IN THE UK', and probably there's travel advice suggesting you stay the hell out of the UK (but no true ban because Fleur is there during canon and doesn't seem to have had any difficulties).
So what they're not doing is intervening.
What they are doing:
- reporting, with varying accuracy, on events in the UK. Because it's the wizarding world, I bet they could have some humorously advanced incompetence here.
- enjoying the use of family-friendly flying carpets imported from various Asian countries.
- hemming and hawing over long opinion pieces from wizards and witches who write that, actually, there's two sides to the conflict and shouldn't both of them get a voice? have you heard about the Knights of Wulpurgis? Maybe muggleborn witches and wizards do steal the magic of proper magical people, actually?
- being both a bit sympathetic and a lot annoyed at UK refugee muggleborns showing up with their entire families like 'hello, my great great grandmother was Spanish, let me in, I must leave the UK right now immediately.'
- idk i'm sorry Europe is big and it's hard to say what all the European witches and wizards were doing at this time, other than heavily side-eyeing the UK for having the same civil war 15 years after the last time, probably. didn't last very long did u m8.
#drunk opinions solicited#ask#anon#hp#no offence but i'm bad at knowing which parts of the british isles fall under what name and government on a regular day so#here we are#nervous laughter

On Tragedy vs. Bad Endings
[Image ID: user @frostyfrogz replied to your post “my mag171 #thots: I fully agree with. I love jonmartin I want nothing but the best for them. I know my answer today was an obvious twisting of dialogue but its just frustrating sometimes because it seems like people dont understand some sort of tragedy will indeed happen. I have never and will never suggest that something will happen to Jon and Martin’s relationship I’ve just been saying the shows not going to end well no matter what.]
So I have a lot of thoughts about this very subject, and too much for the replies on my post, so allow me to try to articulate what I mean, and what a lot of us mean when we say “it does not make sense for either Jon or Martin to turn evil in the end,” even in a show that has been advertised from day one as a tragedy.
First of all, no one thinks this is going to end happy. The few who do are usually unaware that this show is billed as a tragedy, and are quick to be corrected. I didn’t know it was a tragedy until I was on season 3 and someone told me. It’s overall just best to assume that the OP knows it’s not going to be a happy ending, because “reminding” people or “explaining” to people that the ending is going to be sad is a fast way from people to get annoyed and defensive.
Anyway! It appears, above all, that people have either fundamentally different ideas of what a tragedy is or accomplishes, or that people have a fundamentally flawed understanding of tragedy and it’s place as a narrative device/theme.
My thoughts are that tragedies hurt, and tragedies can be devastating, but they have to have a message and they should not be cruel to the audience.
A cruel ending would involve leading the audience to believe one thing for the entire book, show, movie, podcast, what have you, just to rip it away at the last minute like a big “fuck you” to the audience. Those sorts of endings are inherently mocking of the audience, and ultimately disrespectful. The only people in the audience that “benefit” from this sort of writing are the cynics who spent the entire show talking down to everyone for seeing the silver lining in the impending tragedy, even if, up until the finale, the silver lining was always part of the narrative. Like it took actual twisting and outright ignoring of the narrative as it’s written to be cynical and sceptical all the way until the end.
That is, plain and simple, bad writing. Jonny Sims is not a bad writer.
Now tragedies often have “happy endings,” they just also have an element of sadness colouring that ending. A good, tragic ending should, in my opinion, feel bittersweet. We should see it coming, we should know it will hurt, but it should be for the greater good and should further the narrative that has been told from the beginning.
I said a few weeks ago that a tragic ending without a silver lining is just torture porn, and I stand by it.
Now, if Jon or Martin are revealed to be Actually Evil in the end, where is the silver lining in that? What narrative has even possibly hinted at this outcome, without putting on cynic glasses?
Every single plot point and plot “twist” in TMA has been clearly detailed, never relegated to pure subtext that you would have to comb through a single interraction and analyzing the tone in which it was said (which could easily be actor shortcomings or error). They have always been obvious, at least in hindsight. This is why, for a while, I subscribed to the Web!Martin theory, but due to recent episodes I’m more inclined to believe those “obvious things” were red herrings.
Throughout The Magnus Archives, the common theme in every. Single. Season finale is that “we are stronger together.” What do I mean by that? Well, here’s the general idea:
Season 1: The one time someone gets separated by the group for any significant length of time, like I mean the main group, she gets killed by the NotThem and replaced.
Season 2: Jon is alone, due to his intense paranoia and his reluctance to reach out for help. This leads to a disastrous series of events that leaves him a suspect of murder, and his friends even more doubtful of his character.
Season 3: In the episode just before they deal with the Unknowing, Jon literally says that isolation was his downfall, and he was going to work on trusting his friends more. When they got separated during the Unknowing, things went to shit. When they found each other again, they were able to rally and they “succeeded.” Conversely, they are also teamed up with Melanie and Martin who hung back to bring down Elias. They were successful, working as teams on separate objectives, etc.
Season 4: This is, by far, their most “successful” feats while simultaneously their least. The whole season was again showing the downfalls of isolation. In the season finale, Jon has Basira and Daisy’s help, and while bolstering himself with their strength, and the strength in his conviction to save Martin to be with Martin, Jon was successful in stopping Peter Lukas and saving Martin. Conversely, Martin and Jon’s isolation in Scotland could be, theoretically, implicated in how Jonah Magnus was able to succeed in the end like that.
Now evidence of this same train of thought in season 5? Jon literally says it: Gertrude would not have done well in this post-apocalyptic world, because she had no friendships, no anchors, no reason to stay human. And then Jon says “you are my reason” to Martin.
It is in the text of the story that the only way to succeed, or win, or survive, is through trust, friendship, and love. One of the main factors in so many of the statements, on why the statement givers succumbed to the fear in their story, for even a moment, had to do with very little personal ties to anyone else. Many of the statements feature isolation and, as Jon put it, “lack of corroboration.” On the flipside, many of the statements that ended with the statement giver escaping successfully, and surviving long enough to be reached out to for follow-up questions, involved them having close personal ties to someone else that kept them safe, somehow. Like the girl from Italy; remembering her mom saved her from the Lonely. Or, more ridiculously, the guy and his dog that escaped the spiral because he was so distracted by his dog and had to be home for dinner. In MAG170, it was Martin’s love for Jon, and his trust in the love from Jon and his friends, that saved him from the Lonely again. Jon’s incredible amount of love, and respect, and trust in his friends is what’s kept him from becoming another Jared Hopworth or Jude Perry. In MAG155, Cost of Living, he expresses open disgust in how that particular avatar of The End justified her actions, killing and killing and killing again because she viewed herself as more worthy of life than that person. In that same episode, he talks of not blinding himself because he hopes to use his powers to protect his friends, that without them they’re too vulnerable. Honestly, this is the same reason Peter Lukas is unsuccessful, because Martin only helped him at all to protect his friends. The fact that he didn’t see his failure coming was hilarious.
Gerry said in Family Business that there is no “entities of love”, and that might be true, but love and trust is literally what saves you from fear. How many of us deal with things that are scary in our lives, if only because we have some level of trust in the people or things around us. How many of us have been brought out of a panic attack by someone we love and trust?
So all of this has been presented to us, over and over and over again, which is what I, and others, mean when we say “it does not make sense for one of them to be evil.” That’s what we mean when we say “it would be Bad Writing to make one of them evil in the end.” The entire show has driven home the message that we need love, we need personal connections to survive fear. To rip that away from the main characters at the last minute and call it “tragedy” would be a spit in the face of every single listener who took the story at face value, without picking it apart and reading lines out of context. And Jonny Sims and Alex J. Newall have both said they hate lazy writing.
Now, none of the JonMartin fans I follow are deluding themselves to think this show will have a happy ending outside of very self-indulgent fix-it au fanfics.
The way I see this going down is that Jon and Martin will figure out how to put the world back to the way it was, but Jon will not be able to be part of the new world with Martin. That’s the tragedy; that the world gets saved, and Jon helps save it, but he doesn’t get to benefit from his efforts in any way. The tragedy is Jon loves Martin so much, and they deserve their happy ending, but they don’t get it. But, they still saved the world so others can have their happy endings.
Idk about you, but between the “Jon turns evil in the end” and “Jon stays good and sacrifices himself to save the world” endings, only one of them has me in tears right now as I type this out, and it’s not the former.
I’m not against sad endings,I’m against bad endings that punish the audience for having even a bittersweet hope. I’m against sad endings that are just sad for the sake of being sad, with zero pay-off or reason to happen, especially when those endings throw out 5 years of hard work.
And hey, I might just be forced to eat my words in the end, but not before I fly all the way to England and make Jonny Sims eat a knuckle sandwich.
This was a lot longer than I meant for it to be, but I just have a lot of feelings.

What hasn’t already been said: The Spanish Princess 2
Episode 1: CamelNOT
[Lively Music Plays]
I shit you not... that’s what it said in the CCs.
Tower of London (?)
*Catherine looks at the array of crowns like a museum curator and the proceeds to strut down the halls*
Wolsey: *gives her this strange look which is a mixture between damn girl and the eagle is my spirit animal.
Then Catherine gets fake detained and taken to Henry in what must be a strange variation of the whole Robin Hood/Maid Marian roleplay they historically engaged in.
... did she just call his erhm manhood his kingship? Well that’s original, I’ll give them that. Also funny how Bessie Blount initially looks on in fright... don’t worry girl that will be you soon.
———————————————————————
*the four ladies have a brunch friendship moment together*
I see Blount is among them... I see they are setting her up as Catherine’s friend in order to play up the whole betrayal.
Alright. Jokes aside, I realised how much I’ve played myself. I was inspired by @melusineloriginale ‘s sporks (which if all this TSP episode posts got you in the mood for PG show mockery I urge you to check out here - you’ll thank me later). In truth, Henry VIII’s early reign is a bit too late from my main area of focus for me to make intelligent jokes.
I’ll content myself with just bullet-pointing random thoughts that came into my head, and if some intelligent thought gets through, well that would be the pinnacle. In any case I’ll aim to not parrot some of the stuff that’s already been said, repetition can get annoying.
This image embodies this post, but maybe not the show. I’ve noticed those Starz productions get better by the end.
First Scenes:
- The recap just reminded me how much I will miss Margaret Beaufort in the coming episodes. I know her portrayal was innacurate but Harriet Walter just made everything better.
- They are making such a big deal out of this whole ‘we were crowned together, we rule together’ thing in this episode - it makes no sense. Catherine was an influential Queen but she was definitely no more than a consort and never saw herself as more.
- Ruairi’s new haircut is pleasing to my eyes.
- When she says ‘Abuelo’ it’s super adorable awww
The Ferdinand and Charles V scene:
- Bessie Blount looks so much like Ursula Pole lmao. Also they totally got the Pole children’s birth order wrong and UGH WHERE IS GEOFFREY POLE???
- I like Mary Tudor’s actress and her facial expressions. However, this whole polyglot image they are representing is innacurate. I am fairly certain she knew no spanish and I recall reading a contemporary account which said that she was not very learned.
- I’m pretty sure it would be considered bad luck to prematurely crown your son ‘Henry IX’ while you’re still alive.
- I actually like the whole Grape motif in this episode. It’s probably the smartest thing they’ve come up with so far for this episode. I know a lot of you will be all like ‘there’s no record of Ferdinand being abusive’ but this choice sort of makes sense when you recall Joanna’s treatment. Also I appreciate them for not being tacky and showing flashbacks of more overt abuse eg physical. The sugared grape is also fairly symbolic (the sugar is like a gilding, the grape easily crushable)
- OMG the guy from Garrow’s law is playing Thomas More!
- AND PLEASE PLEASE TELL ME IM NOT SEEING THINGS? Margaret Pole x Thomas More is happening?? Please god that is a historical crackship I am getting behind. Yes. This is what I’m most invested about.
Margaret Tudor and Scotland Scene:
- The whole ironic cutaway to Margaret being all depressed after Charles Brandon’s statement about her charming Scottish king is such a cliché movie technique.
- If this were a more artsy film I would think the whole setup resembling a stereotypical middle-class family breakfast was done on purpose for humorous effects or to create a link with the past. But here I don’t have as much trust in the producers. I think they just failed to capture the time period accurately.
- The modernisms continue: ‘Negassi please stop playing’ idk, there just something so modern about this for some reason ahaha
- Also again, I’m getting tired of all this ‘Catherine is basically queen herself’, ‘Catherine is a political genius’, ‘Catherine Catherine Catherine’ ugh. I don’t think the producers understand that Henry VIII was a very autocratic and traditional ruler. He didn’t make any show of joint-rulership (correct me if I’m wrong).
- The teeth thing is funny, smart and I liked it.
Back to Westminster:
- I like Ferdinand’s actor!
- Also Catherine’s response to ‘who are you loyal to?’ was not that smart. I feel like the producers wanted us to be impressed. What if Spain and England’s interests conflict, ey??
The Joust:
- I care too much for the whole Margaret Pole plotline. I’m so invested.
- I could watch a series of More and Pole just exchanging lines. I love the actors too and this is my hope for this series. The whole frustrated parents is SO CUTE.
- I didn’t know More tutored Reggie, I would be curious to know more.
- The way compton says groom to queen’s stool is freaking hilarious. He looks like a pervert.
- Henry Pole is a darling and must be protected at all costs.
- Oh Christ oh Christ that eyeball shot was just... good job on the special effects guys. Don’t know what the point of that choice was.
- I found the whole armour mentions after interesting, it looked so set up as a PR campaign because Stafford speaking about the armour just sounded like a statement agreed on beforehand ‘should have worn the same’ and the Catherine with ‘steel in the bones’ and Ferdinand’s impressed face (it was him playing them?)
- Am I giving this show too much credit?
- Also whats up with “God save the Queen?”
War Counsel:
- Henry VIII’s actor is quite charismatic in this scene. It’s almost as if Catherine is the hothead and Henry the wise one that speaks less but more significantly. It almost feels like they gender-swapped them.
The Bedchamber:
- Did Catherine breastfeed the baby? I thought it was Anne Boleyn. Doubtful... I’m tired of the trope of ‘you’re a good woman if you insist on breastfeeding the child yourself despite social conventions’. For a feminist show, the writers seem very attached to some 1950s perceptions of motherhood.
- I feel like the age difference between Catherine and Henry is well conveyed.
Scotland Again:
- ‘All the sheep were pregnant’ 👀 oh touché Margaret. oh my. Did she just?
- I know they are playing out this disenfranchised Margaret arc to reinforce how great Catherine and Henry are (cheap technique) and to build up to her involvement in Flodden (innacurate historically but I know what the show will do). But I will say this: the humour is pretty good in the Scottish scenes! But I know it’s unintentionally so... (I highly doubt they wanted us to laugh at Margaret hitting James or calling Alexander a pig).
Westminster and the baby chamber:
- What’s are those red splotches on the babies face??
- Oh that shot of Margaret and silent Reginald :((( it makes me sad.
- And now the Poles are at church! I just love the look of them.
- That scene of Maggie and Catherine was needed, as we didn’t get the best friends vibe much in this episode. The whole thing looked a bit pagan though, but it was nice :)
The whole Ferdinand’s betrayal segment:
- The grape motif again was fitting, him snapping the fruit right before she gets to it even despite her knowing what he’s like and what he’ll do, was a good parrallel.
- I’m tired of hearing of this ‘Camelot’. Even in the novel, Camelot was Catherine and Arthur’s dream and... can we just live it up with Arthur?
- Ursula Pole’s, Bessie Blount’s and Mary Boleyn’s actresses look way too similar.
- I fail to see why Catherine thinks she’s turning into her father... she doesn’t strike me as much of a game-player or subtle two-facer.
- I’m intrigued what will happen with Oviedo and Lina... I feel like they won’t stay in England long.
- He was made knight bannaret... nice... but why does he thank Catherine publicly for this? It was in Henry’s gift that he was made a commoner Knight.. if this transpired irl Henry would have been gravely insulter.
Catherine’s Dead Baby and thereafter:
- Guys. In all seriousness, I don’t think the TV series is trying to imply that Catherine killed the baby with her negligence. I mean, they are so bent on us liking her they wouldn’t do that. It would be a bit too ballsy anyway. Remember the red splotches I mentioned earlier? Could those have been a sign that he was already ill but no one noticed/was in denial?
- The pebbles in hands would have had more emotional payoff if it had been established earlier if you know what I mean. Basically, this episode is too fast and entire arcs begin and end within it which extinguished any build-up.
- Oh man Henry is so sweet in this, how will they build him up as the tyrant he was historically if they keep this up?
Scotland Again:
- I must admit, I don’t like all those nicknames they keep using. But somehow James calling Margaret ‘Meg’ is nice and seems fitting.
- What’s a hermana sister?
England Last Mourning Scenes:
- YOU DID NOT BUILD CAMELOT ughhh
- Why is Catherine giving the speech and not Henry?? It turns out Catherine was more emotional historically then the whole perception of ‘perfect queen of stone’ to which some people hold her. However, I doubt it would have been proper of her to give a speech in such a emotional manner.
Conclusion:
6.5/10
Some of the dialogue was stilted, the costumes are confused as to which era they’re supposed to be (aesthetically distracting) and many other characterisation issues.
I don’t have high hopes for this series in terms of cinematography or art but I sure as hell expect it will be entertaining. So far, everything is just getting set up and I find some aspects promising. As you can tell I am truly excited over how the Margaret Pole plotline. I am also interested in how Henry will be portrayed, with Catherine being so OTT and pushy this episode Im starting to Stan him more. In this show he appears sensitive and serene and kinda... adorable. Kind of like a little brother hanging onto his sister’s skirts.
But in a way that is a disservice to the real historical figure which would not tolerate such a representation. I am very irritated by this whole ‘joint-rulers’ thing which is just sooo innacurate. These STARZ shows have an obsession with showing women turn into men for the purposes of feminism - I see.
Catherine overpowers Henry too often and it sometimes feels like he’s HER consort. Of course, the feminism in this show is schizophrenic as we get the overemphasis of Catherine as a 1950s motherly ideal with the whole breastfeeding angle (“you’re better than other noble woman who would find this beneath them”, “they’re not as motherly as you”).
So the relationship dynamic between Henry and Catherine is a bit off at the moment, but oh well.
Mary Tudor is a bit distracting with her dark hair but I find the actress extremely endearing and promising. I know there will be emphasis on her storyline too and I hope they’ll not be clichéd with it.

So at the start of 2019, I made the resolution to read more books! I used to be a voracious reader as a kid, but between college and grad school I kind of...forgot how to do that? So I got myself a library card (clutch, tbh) and spent the year enjoying free books and audiobooks!
Below the cut are the books that I read with short reviews about them. They aren’t the only books I started, but the cool thing about a library card is that since the books are free, you don’t feel bad about not finishing them if you don’t like them!
Take a gander, maybe you’ll find your next favorite read!
Brief summary, meaning my favorite books of the year: An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir, Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, and An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green!
As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of the Princess Bride by Cary Elwes 7/10 IDK if I enjoyed this because of nostalgia or because it was the first book I borrowed with my fancy dancy library card but either way it was nice to read a first hand account of one of my favorite movies, written by an actor that obviously feels a lot of affection towards it. Snaps to you, Cary Elwes.
Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo 7/10 I read it because it was Wonder Woman! She saves a girl who washes up on the shores of Themyscira and goes on an adventure to save her from ancient magic forces. TBH it wasn’t anything earth shattering but it was a fun, adventurous read and an entertaining story. Minus two points because Leigh Bardugo got paid to write fanfiction and I haven’t achieved that yet.
The Selection by Keira Cass 6/10 It was interesting enough to finish the audiobook, and I continued it because I was curious as to what would happen. It’s almost like a medieval AU of The Bachelor. But then the dreaded love triangle came up and I didn’t like where it was going so I didn’t finish the sequel. Entertaining enough, but not one I would go back to.
Wicked Appetite / Wicked Business / Wicked Charms by Janet Evanovich 6/10 Again, juuuuuuuust interesting enough for me to finish the audiobooks. It was the first audiobooks I got with ye olde librarie carde so that’s probably why I was so attached to finishing them. Also it’s about a girl that has magic baking powers, which is also probably why I wanted to finish it. She has to track down dragon balls or something I can’t really remember but it wasn’t bad.
Outlander / Dragonfly in Amber / Voyager by Diana Gabaldon 8/10 I LOVED Outlander, loved Dragonfly in Amber slightly less, and could barely finish Voyager. The series is about a British WWII nurse who gets sent back in time to 1793 Scotland and has to navigate all that mess. Jamie Fraser and eventually Fergus are the crown jewels of this story. Outlander was fantastic to me, it was interesting and funny and saucy and all in all a good story about time travel and the repercussions. There’s like, five more books in the series but again, I lost interest. I’ll probably go back and see what happens though cause I think Gabaldon brings in new characters.
The Lost Girls of Paris by Pam Jenoff 8/10 A book about women spies in WWII France?? Fighting the Nazis and falling in love and being heroes?? Loved it. The characters were real and the fear palpable. Minus two points cause the love subplot was a touch underdeveloped but who knows man war changes things.
A Conjuring of Light by VE Schwab 9/10 The third in the series starting with A Darker Shade of Magic. I loooooooved the characters in this story, the plot twists were exciting instead of annoying, and the way that she uses magic and secrets and reveals were perfection. And I actually really enjoyed the ending, which is surprising. Would read again.
An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green 9/10 A super interesting story about a mysterious sculpture that appears in New York and the subsequent fallout of crazy things that happen. I listened to the audiobook and the narrators were perfect, the story is fast paced and has good twists and the characters are super real and relatable and fallible. TBH I read it cause it’s John Green’s brother (I assume, I didn’t fact check) and he did NOT disappoint. Minus one point just cause I can’t bring myself to give out 10′s a lot.
Cinder by Marissa Meyer 8/10 Honestly? People shit on this book but I really enjoyed it. It’s fun and heart wrenching and an interesting take on the Cinderella story. One of these days I’ll finish Scarlet which is the sequel.
The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger 6/10 Holy shit this was way more intense than I anticipated it being. It was a really good take on time travel and the way it affects people. Truth be told I never saw the movie, but this book was crazy and saucy and super interesting. I didn’t give it a higher rating just cause the time traveler knew his wife since she was six and that doesn’t sit well with me.
Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli 7/10 Both the movie and the book were good, with all the drama and heartache of 1) being a teenager and 2) coming out to the people around him. Very poignant and emotional. Didn’t give it a higher rating just cause it wasn’t super memorable to me? But then again, that’s cause I’m a twenty-something woman and not a teenage gay boy so while it was beautifully written and definitely a very important book, it just wasn’t one of my faves.
Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly 7/10 More women in WWII! Now with all this boss historical fiction coming out I can definitely see why guys are so obsessed with WWII. Then again, I think I would be obsessed with any stories detailing how badass women are during the war. It covers stories from all sides of the war - including the Nazis - and makes it seem so much more real. I started reading the sequel but it wasn’t quite as interesting.
The Diviners by Libba Bray 8/10 A fun fantasy mystery set in 1920′s New York! With ghosts and demons and magic powers and flappers! I really enjoyed it and am currently working on the sequel. The jargon is what really gets me like it’s so Great Gatsby but better. Would recommend.
Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi 7/10 A patient recommended this to me. It’s about a girl imprisoned because she has powers and that is Dangerous. It’s of course a post-apocalyptic military state situation, and she’s trying to escape and low key start an uprising. A really good story with a really interesting voice to the main character. Like, this writing style was SO DIFFERENT and amazing, I’ve never read anything like it. I didn’t continue the series just because the voice was SO good and in tune that it kinda stressed me out.
Time After Time by Lisa Grunwald 6/10 An A+ concept about a ghost in the New York subway and the man who loves her. It’s an interesting take on a lil paranormal romance. I loved the lore and the historical setting (it takes place in like, the 40′s) and really paints a fantastic scene!
Berserker by Emmy Laybourne 8/10 Listen, this book was not something historians will be talking about for years to come. But it’s about a family of siblings who have magic Nordic powers and have to escape Norway and come to the US (which is in prime Old West time) to find their uncle. And they meet a COWBOY. It’s a story about family and love and also occasionally killing people because you have the blood of Odin or some shit and honestly? Catered directly to me.
Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson 8/10 A fun and cool murder mystery set in a special fancy boarding school. Maureen Johnson has been one of my faves for a long time and she did not disappoint with this! It’s about a girl obsessed with a murder at the school, and she transfers in so she can solve it. And the TWIST at the END? Great!
An Ember in the Ashes / A Torch Against the Night / A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir 9/10 Another 9 because I can’t bring myself to give a 10, though if anything this series would get it. The voices that Tahir writes with are INCREDIBLE and the story is nuanced and compelling and so good. It’s about a teenager trying to save her brother from prison, as well as a guy graduating from assassin school. I don’t wanna say too much cause I don’t want to spoil if anyone reads it but tbh if you only pick one series PICK THIS ONE. If you like fantasy and stuff of course.
The Huntress by Kate Quinn 8/10 Listen. Mystery solving New York girl, post war. Men hunting former Nazis. Bicon Russian girl who was in the Russian Air force. Do I really need to say more? A phenomenal story that takes place before, during, and after WWII, and the wide variety of stories happening during that time. Great if you love historical fiction!
Sourdough by Robin Sloan 8/10 Just like Berserker this book probably isn’t something they’re gonna teach in English classes. But it’s about a girl who works in robotics on proprioception (!!!) and then?? Starts baking bread??? AKA everything I love in life so, you know, once again a book catering specifically to me.
Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer by Rick Riorden 7/10 As always, Riorden delivers a phenomenal story with phenomenal characters. And it includes populations that aren’t often the main characters in literature - a homeless teen and a Muslim teen, to name two. I haven’t continued the series just cause I got distracted with other things, but I totally want to.
I’m Not Dying with You Tonight by Kimberly Jones 7/10 A grand adventure that takes place over the course of one night in Atlanta. When a riot breaks out, two girls who haven’t spoken or really know each other are pushed together and spend the rest of the night trying to survive and make it home. It demonstrates two sides of life, and how they’re the same and how they’re different. I listened to the audiobook, which had phenomenal readers.
The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee 8/10 A story about a spoiled rich bi boy who’s going on one final tour of Europe before he has to settle down and run his family’s estate. His best friend and his sister are with him, and of course everything goes to hell in a handbasket. But it’s a crazy journey and an excellent coming of age story.
In The Woods / The Likeness by Tana French 8/10 AMAZING murder mysteries! The first is about the murder of a kid in Ireland, and the toll it takes on the investigators and people around them. It has an amazing twist at the end, and even though it takes a while for them to solve the murder, it never gets boring. Same with the second one! It’s a crazy situation that would never happen in real life, but she writes it SO WELL that i don’t even care! I will probably skip the third one cause it’s about a character I don’t really like and also takes place in the past before all of this, but I do want to continue reading these!
Stay Sexy and Don’t Get Murdered by Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark 8/10 A great book of essays written by the voices behind “My Favorite Murder,” which is a hilarious and semi-informative true crime podcast. But they talk about more than just true crime in the book - in fact, it’s more about things that they’ve learned throughout their crazy lives. Super eye opening and also really entertaining, and I actually listened to it before I even listened to the podcast, so I feel like that’s saying something!

I was tagged by the lovely @davidfors5 thank you so much 😭 😭 😭
1. fave character from each remake and why?
Skam Austin: Poonam Para. I know that she’s a side character and honestly i was close to saying Jo, Kelsey or Shay but she’s my fav. I think i just see a lot of myself in her and i like how she’s a completely new and different character. She’s funny and upfront and unique and I feel extremely understood and I hope we get to see more of her.
Skam France: Imane Bakhellal. Again i was really close to saying Yann or Lucas but i think just purely because of how much i can relate to Imane and understand her she’s my fav.
Druck: David Schreibner. While i definitely relate to Matteo the most and love Amira to no end, David is hands down my favourite. He’s such an icon and he especially makes me love Druck so much. I can’t really explain why he’s my favourite so much, this one is really more of like i feel it in my soul that he’s my favourite and that’s why.
Skam España: Joana Bianchi. I... I wanted to say Amira or Lucas because i love them so freaking much and this one was honestly the hardest for me to decide but it is Joana. I don’t know what it is but i just deeply care for her so much.
Skam NL: Liv Reijners. Although i really do love like all the NL characters. Liv i decided to pick because she can sing and i love her style and she’s strong and independent and i feel like she’s a really unique noora and i just. love everything about her. I can’t find a single fault 🙈
2. fave musical moment?
Skam: håper du har plass playing when the girls go to get Sana, i think we all cry every time and i still listen to that song to this day
Skam Austin: honestly… cloutie 4 lyfe go listen to clout from grandma’s closet on soundcloud i stg their talent… is unparalleled (honorary mention, when Megan’s upset and crying and goes to see Marlon and they play the fricking meme song and stop it at “run.” i die every time)
Skam France: what else could i say other than when Lucas played ‘i love you’ on the piano like chills lich rally chills luv (honorary mention how the music goes all soft the first time Lucas sees Eliott, again iconic)
Druck: this is hard like i kind of just wanna say whenever they’ve ever used a song it’s been absolutely perfect, i think i’ll say during the first kiss clip though when they go to hold their breath and the music with the water sound effects like aaaa ded
Skam España: the last clip when they go to kiss and ‘I Follow Rivers’ starts playing like... it’s just perfect like everything comes full circle and im CRYING
Skam NL: another remake that always picks perfect music, i think my fav is whenever Liv goes to the mic to sing like i love her singing voice so much
3. if you could make your own season, who would it be about and what would happen?
I have thought about this so much it’s almost funny lmao. There’s just so much potential with Skam and then if you factor in the remakes like... absolutely spoilt for choice omfg. I’d love a Jonas season because he’s great but i really dont know what it’d even be about, Mahdi is another character i’ve always felt immensely interested in and i would love to know more about him. In the middle of typing this i’ve come to a decision actually lmao. Two words- BALLOON. SQUAD. They are literally my favourite thing about og ever seriously and Elias is my favourite Skam character. So idk maybe a season about them? and maybe about their friend group and how they’re all drifting apart or brotherhood or like healthy male friendships where they are there for each other and shit or about Even becoming friends with them again or IDK. but i know i’d have loved a season centered on them and if i had a greater mind i’d be able to come up with a good plot for them too lmao.
4. rank the sanas ( I’m evil I know )
This is literally the worst question I’ve ever seen and yes you are evil
Sana, Amira TM, Amira N, Imane, Zoya, Esra, Imaan.
BUT THEY ARE ALL EQUALLY MY FAVOURITE
5. fave season from each remake and why?
Skam Austin: Unpopular Opinion but i really loved season 1, however, I think i have to say season 2 because of how fucking well they developed all the characters like giving the cast input into the story was the best decision Skam Austin could’ve ever made. Also, Clout From Grandma’s Closet? like need i say more
Skam France: I only watched 3 and 4 and my fav is 3. Very good homage to OG with the story telling and made me absolutely fall in love with Lucas and Eliott. Like I went through the same motions as i did when i watched OG and it was nice to be reminded of that. Also liked the small changes they made like the Polaris thing that was iconic
Druck: SEASON 3. what an emotional fucking roller coaster. They had me hooked every single minute of the day and still do now. I love Matteo and how they changed the story up like im still pissed about the pacing kind of but honestly i loved season 3 and still rewatch it. the music was perfect, development of the characters, the softness. everything was just so good
Skam NL: As much as i love Liv I have to say season 1. it was goregously done, i loved the aesthetic and Isa is such a realistic and relatable character. Also her moments with Kes and Lucas and the moments with the girl squad, like it was just a really iconic start to an awesome series.
Skam España: I’ve only watched season 2 but i know even if i watched season 1 i would still say season 2 lmao. Honestly there is not a SINGLE thing they did wrong. like the story was perfect, the honour they did to og, how they switched the relationships up. it genuinely was just fucking perfect (except the whole panphobia thing. if that comment wasn’t said spain would have the best remake)
6. What’s your opinion on s2? what do you like and dislike the most? which remake made the best s2? (españa doesn’t count)
I am going to be truthful here and say that when i was first watching OG and watched season 2 I did like it but after growing up a bit and reflecting I now honestly really dont. like i’ve tried to avoid that season in remakes as much as i can (i’ve failed and the only noorhell i’ve not seen is frances one). I think what got me at first was the whole like layers thing to William. how there was more to him and also like the typical fanfic tropey moments between them. what i like about season 2 is the SA storyline, like that is an extremely important topic that needs to be talked about more so i like how it brought light to that and also how they show Noora handling the situation and how the girl squad are and i <3. What i dislike is how William uses Vilde and is so manipulative and ANNOYING omfg. Like i can’t explain how much his entitled rich ass frustrates me and how broken down Noora is by him.
7. what representation would you like to see in Skam (other than more wlw)?
Honestly i’d like to see more ethnic minorities tbh, especially like maybe some east asian people? I want skam to be the type of thing that no matter who you are you can see yourself represented in it and while the remakes and og do an alright job of it, i’d love to see more. i’ll say this this til the day i die- REPRESENTATION IS IMPORTANT
8. what country would you like to see a remake and why?
My biased ass is screaming Skam Scotland because like i would be able to relate to it so much and I’d love it with my entire soul but also just somewhere where the majority of the population isnt white. would be lovely for it to be in like India or Pakistan maybe so that I could personally relate to it but honestly anywhere with POC would be an absolute WIN for me. i suggest Skam Scotland where the girl and boy squad are south asians/east asians + black with the good ol’ token white friend! Hire me
9. fave head canon?
Honestly any (head)canon that says anyone is not cishet is like 👌
10. sort characters into Hogwarts houses
I was going to do the characters from all the remakes when i realised... they’re all essentially the same each time I- anyways lmao
Hufflepuff - Magnus, Even, Chris, Vilde, Mikael, Yousef, Linn
Slytherin - Sana, Isak
Gryffindor - Mahdi, Elias, Eva, Adam, Mutasim, Eskild
Ravenclaw - Jonas, Noora
This is mostly based off pure gut instinct idk
11. tell me your best crossover idea
How all the remakes seem to have the girl squads going on summer roads trips I kinda had this thought that maybe like the groups in each of the different remakes and og decide to go on a big friends holiday and everyone ends up in the same place and they all meet. none of the isaks really get along with each other, all the evens of course become best friends on the spot etc etc. i just want everyone to automatically become best friends im not good at coming up with ideas for these sorts of things sorry lmao
~
For my 11 questions:
Which remake/og sqaud do you think you would personally fit into the most?
What is your favourite remake and why?
What is objectively the best remake and why?
Opinions on each of the girl squads?
Favourite hairstyle out of all the remakes? (this includes any hijab styles of the Sanas)
Who do you think from og/remakes would have a youtube channel and what would they post about? (not including hei briskeby or lucas rubio’s yt channel)
Pick someone you think is underappreciated from og/remakes and explain why you think they should be appreciated more
Favourite outfit/clothing item?
Which character do you think is most similar to you?
Do you like the Eva season (season 1)?
Insert your own question that you’d like to answer!
I will tag @thedavideffect @pansexualevenbech @2ndbest @joanascris @hufflepuff-ish @matteoluigiflorenzi @liveterna2 @bbibbicole @xxrps @happoa @eleaha but don’t do this if you don’t want to! and if you see this but i haven't please go for it i would’ve tagged everyone humanly possible but alas i had to pick 11 lmao but i love reading different peoples thoughts so yeah. pls do if you want to <3

Not really an entry but oh well 17 good things from 2017
Hey so I saw this on someone else's blog (didn't catch the name but I'll add it later if I can find it) and I was like "well hey, 2017 was pretty much the worst but 2018 isn't looking like it's going to be great so time to found my blessings!" So yeah, here's my top 17 of 2017 (not in order)
1. The Adventure Zone: I had seen posts about it for like a year on Tumblr and didn't understand why the characters always looked different so I checked it out (it was specifically Lup and Taako fan art that made me check out the show which makes sense now because I love my elf children). So for anyone who doesn't know: TAZ is a table top game podcast by the McElroy brothers that starts with a 69 (nice) episode journey through the adventures of Taako, Magnus, and Merle. It starts out all goofs but ends up tearing your heart out in the best ways possible. This came to me at a pretty bad time in my life and it was my escape from a lot of the bad stuff. It's an absolutely amazing podcast that I think everyone should at least try out. It's still on going with new small arcs before the next season so please check it out!
2. Because of TAZ I started playing dnd for myself! I play a sorcerer named Udele Octavia who is a drunk but pretty much perfect
3. My best friend and I got even closer to the point where I've officially met his boyfriend (that's a big deal for him and I'm glad he let me in)
4. I got a new laptop and a new record player that I love with all my heart (my dad got me the Beatles on vinyl and I pretty much died)
5. I'm an RA and at the beginning of this year I helped some residents out (all turning out to live in my building) with some car issues and now they love me! They chant my name when they see me and idk it makes all the issues with my job worth it.
6. I've gotten into poetry! Mainly due to "The Princess Saves Herself in This One" which is amazing and I would recommend to anyone
7. I've started writing again! I write songs and this year I made 2 of my absolute favorites I'm very proud of them! Also started writing my own poetry which isn't as bad as I would have expected! Yay!
8. I asked out a boy I've had a crush on for 2 years and we actually have been on 2 dates! And they've been fun! It's hard because he's back home but I feel more confident about myself since not everyone rejects me
9. I reconnected with a friend from high school who I really really missed and love. He's a great kid and I'm glad we're talking again
10. I played some of the best games this year. Including my favorite game in the whole wide world OneShot. I can't even say all that much about the game since it's easy to spoil but it's one of the most interesting games I've ever played and yes I DID cry. Other games include Night in the Woods, Gone Home, West of Loathing, and Stardew Valley (some of these came out last year but I didn't play till this year)
11. I was a specialty RA for sustainability and apparently I had the most successful specialty floor and I'm very proud of that
12. I went to 3 countries last summer! Scotland, The Netherlands, and France. All absolutely amazing which I could write lists for all on their own
13. My sister asked me to be her maid of honor! Her fiance is one of my favorite people and I'm so happy for them!
14. I got a 99% in a college class which I never though I could do. Grades aren't everything but I worked really hard and I'm glad with that
15. My goal this semester was to see more of my college town and I did that! With help of course but I did it!
16. Dirk Gently season 2 was everything I wanted and more. It ties for my favorite show but it may not get a season 3 so please please please check it out when it goes up on Netflix on January 5th please!!!
17. Brooklyn 99. All of Brooklyn 99. I seriously love Brooklyn 99
Wow, that was easier than I thought! This isn't a tag but please do this if you want to! It actually made me feel better about this year and made me a little happier so if you need a smile please try this one out!
(Sorry this is so long, I know that's annoying so yeah. Sorry for clogging up your dash!)
#dirk gently#dirk gently holistic detective agency#the adventure zone#taz balance#taz#taz spoilers#lup and taako#brooklyn 99#rosa diez#2017#pretty shitty but had some good parts!#travel#video games#oneshot (game)#stardew valley#night in the woods#west of loathing#gone home#personal stuff#it wasnt all bad

Was tagged by @platinuumpussycat to divulge all my deepest secrets!
Were you named after anyone? Not that I know of. When was the last time you cried? Umm two days ago because I work 2 much and also my internet died.
Do you like your handwriting? Yeah I like it well enough.
What’s your favorite lunch meat? Smoked turkey or sopressa.
Do you have kids? Nope. I work with kids a fair amount tho.
If you were a different person, would you be friends with you? YES. I’d love me. I’d think I was so cool.
Do you use sarcasm? Yep. Usually in a very hammy optimistic way when I’m feeling the opposite of hammy and optimistic.
Do you still have your tonsils? Yup.
Would you bungee jump? NooNNnooooono what if the THING BROKE?
What’s your favorite cereal? I don’t eat cereal much. LIFE, I guess.
Do you untie your shoes when you take them off? No who has time for that.
Do you think you are a strong person? Lol, nope. In no capacity. I have no mental fortitude and I have noodle arms.

What color pants and shoes are you wearing right now? I’m just wearin…black sweatpants and no shoes. IT’S MIDNIGHT AND I JUST GOT HOME AND I SHOULD BE SLEEPIN.
What are you listening to right now? Whatever loud rattling thing has been loud and rattling in the alley next to me for the past month or so. Fuckin annoying whatever it is.
If you were a crayon, what color would you be? Dark red. Maybe the kind with glitter in it.

Who was the last person you talked on the phone with? My mum.
Favorite sport to watch? Lol who do you think I am.
Hair color? Boring ashy brown.
Eye color? Blue.
Do you wear contacts? Nope.
Favorite food? Love some dolma.
Scary movie or comedy? I will always lean into horror. There are very few comedies I’m actually into. Even if the horror is bad, I’ll still enjoy it to some capacity. Bad comedy is just…painfully tedious.
Last movie you watched? Uhhhh christ…I can’t remember. Maybe the Witch? I never watch movies.
What color shirt are you wearing? Grey. It’s my 1 out of 3 moby dick shirts that I sleep in. It’s the one that’s the BETTER TO SLEEP WITH A SOBER CANNIBAL THAN A DRUNKEN CHRISTIAN quote.
Summer or winter? Winter. I live. I am resurrected. And then I sink into the miserable ground again the second it starts to get hot.
Hugs or kisses? Hugs. I’m not a very physical person either way tho.
Book you’re currently reading? The Apparitionists by Peter Manseau. It’s about spirit photography during the civil-war era and is pretty interesting and pretty well written but…scattered. It keeps kind of…diverging from what it presented as the main storyline in a way that SORT OF LINKS but detracts a lot, and I’m kind of annoyed by that.
Who do you miss right now? Dogsss.
What’s on your mouse pad? Mouse pad? Mouse pad???? Desk? Desktop? I cook my guts with a laptop every night.
What’s the last TV program you watched? uhhhh lol. I think it’s clear that I hardly ever watch things. I don’t even remember.
What’s the best sound? Someone playing a cello out in public.
Rolling Stones or The Beatles? Apathetic.
What’s the furthest you ever traveled? Scotland.
Do you have a special talent? Idk. Not really. Jack of all trades, master of none.
Where were you born? Massachusetts.

Wetherspoons Wednesday!!
I’ll never forget the day (a teacher) did this.
Made me write a half page essay about a poem as I did not answer 3 questions on it for homework. I completed this essay in about 2 minutes having read the poem, she looked shocked I’d done it so fact so I got up and left.
Memories from high school
“Are you emo?” “Are you goth?” “You were a lot of black” None of this I do anymore.
Special moments I want to witness.

What is the first thing I remember?
Being pushed down the slide by some bitch called Charlotte at the age of about 2. I was really pissed and blamed her up until about 6 months ago when I realised I was in fact the asshole as I was climbing up the slide. I didn’t see the problem with climbing up it until recently lmao
What is the funniest thing I remember?
Um.. itS SEXUAL SO... I’ll save it for another time.
What was my most embarrassing moment?
I was on a school trip, they took all of our water bottles off us on arriving at the destination. On the way home from the school trip I had to stop the entire double decker coach because I was about to piss myself.

What was the most nervous I’ve ever been?
Holy shit there are so many examples, having teeth out etc.. Most recent though was a piano exam I was 100% prepared for, in the exam my hands were shaking so much I couldn’t play.
