DPxBNHA Prompt
@evilminji recently made a Post about DP x MHA and I'm in love with the idea of those 2 fandoms together. (I'm gonna tag this dpxdc just to spread it around but there won't be much dc in it. Maybe a few crumbs here and there)
So! Quirks came into existence the same day Danny became a Halfa. He wasn't directly responsible for it, but when the Portal opened it released a truly Massive amount of Ectoplasm into the world at large. The Dr's Fenton didn't notice it at first, because Amity Park had always had that level of Ectoplasm and all of their Sensors were within the City Limits.
The Ectoplasm released onto the world quickly and integrated with multiple Humans across the Planet, and eventually enough Ectoplasm gathered in a single Human to form the first Proto-Core, aka Quirk. That human was the Glowing Baby.
This phenomenon spread across the world as the situation in Amity Park devolved. The GIW knew for certain that these "Meta Abilities" were the result of Ectoplasm Contamination, and doubled down on Amity Park to try and fruitless contain the spread. Not that it would have worked, the Portal opening had sent a Shockwave across the fabric of Reality, creating mini-portals that continued to feed Ectoplasm to the Earth.
Eventually the day came when Amtiy Park was Evacuated from the Mortal Realm by Clockwork for it's own Protection. It's disappearance was blamed on a newly awakened Quirk destroying the entire Town, which was used to feed the flames of hatred in the Early Dawn Era.
Then one day, Amity Park returns. In Japan of all places.
Clockwork had dragged the entire Town through Time, to an Era that would accept their abilities. It was placed in the countryside of Japan. Clockwork had considered putting them in a dimension of Heroes, bur decided that would like to stay in their home dimension for now.
Thats the basic world building, but there are other parts we can expand upon in this AU
For Example, OFA and AFO
All for One was the first True Core in the 1st Gen of Quirks, but he was born with a Defect that made him unable to generate his own Ectoplasm. He felt a Hunger that could never be satiated, and eventually found a way to feed that hunger by absorbing the Proto-Cores of other people into his own True Core, stealing their Quirks.
One For All was the Opposite, born as an empty True Core but without the insatiable Hunger that his brother had. Then AFO force fed him a Stockpile Core and it fused with his own, giving him the power to Generate and Stockpile his own Ectoplasm.
He also had the power to Pass On his Core to another Body, basically just passing on his power. Then his Successor did the same, and their successor, and their Successor. Eventually we reach the 9th Holder of OFA, and the Singularity.
In this world, the Quirk Singularity isn't just an event where Quirks grow too powerful for their Bodies to handle, it is an event where the Proto-Cores of Quirk Users experience an Apotheosis, and change from Proto to True Cores. True Cores which the Human Body can't handle having.
But it's different for OFA. It was a True Core from the beginning, born within a Human Body, and it has the power of 6 other Proto-Cores within itself all ready to Apotheosis into True Cores themselves. When OFA is passed onto zuku Midoriya, it floods him with 7 Cores worth of Ectoplasm, and turns him into a Halfa.
When Danny and the rest if Amity Park reappear in Japan, they find not only a world populated by mostly Liminal Humans, but also a Powerful Halfa who doesn't even know he is a Halfa. Maybe even 2 if All Might also experienced the same Apotheosis?
Thoughts?
#Dpxdc#Dp x dc#Dcxdp#Dc x dp#Dp x Bnha#Bnha x Dp#Dpxbnha#Bnhaxdp#Dpxmha#Mhaxdp#Mha x dp#Dp x mha#I don't know which version of that tag is the right one#Better safe than sorry#Not much DC in this#Aside from the mention of maybe dropping Amity into DC#Izuku Midoriya is a Halfa#All Might is a Halfa#Maybe#All Quirked Humans are just Liminals#Quirks are the minor powers of Proto-Cores#“Minor” is subjective here since they can actually be pretty powerful#But they are small by Core standards#And fairly restrictive in their applications#Izuku has the power of 7 Cores#He is powerful even by Ghost Standards#He is about as Powerful as Danny is but he has no control over it#Or maybe he has more power than Danny but he has no control#We do have an example of a Ghost with Multiple Cores in Canon#Dark Clockwork Dan has 3 Cores

Something I made in a post that I think'll be lost in the texts + expanded a bit more
These panels are chronological events following AFO's pursuit of Yoichi's Factor.
AFO could tell if people were related through a Quirk. AFO and OFA also are connected to each other. In Kamino, AFO could confidently tell All Might that OFA had been passed on, so all that All Might had left were leftover embers.
When AFO killed Kudo, he asked where Yoichi was. He knew Kudo wasn't the holder of Yoichi's Factor at that time. He also realized when looking at Yoichi's hand that Yoichi's natural Factor was so weak he hadn't registered its existence. This implies AFO could sense Factors since he was young, and Yoichi's natural Factor never stood out to him.
Below are three panels of Bruce (right to left). Bruce fought, AFO killed him, and looked away in disinterest.
When he beat down Bruce, he already had a sense that Bruce didn't hold the Factor anymore. That's why, rather than yell in his face to figure out where it is and interrogate for a long time, he pulled up his corpse to inspect him better.
Bruce's corpse isn't resisting anything. Look at his feet; AFO literally dragged him. Bruce is already dead. Yet he's looking for something from him.
Bruce doesn't have anything for him. Nothing AFO wants.
When he looks away, he's dismissing Bruce, because Bruce doesn't hold Yoichi. AFO is wondering where Yoichi is, because he knows now that he's out there somewhere. Thus the pensive look to the wind.
After Bruce is killed, AFO and Garaki meet for the first time. Shinomori has Yoichi at this time, and AFO never comes close to him, so AFO is lost. He doesn't have any leads, and Yoichi has vanished.
Now that he knows Yoichi can transfer, it's possible for Yoichi to be kept out of his reach for the rest of his life. So meeting Garaki and having access to Life Force gives AFO more time to search.
Yoichi is still missing for 18 years though, because Shinomori is in hiding. AFO couldn't find him during the Fourth's turn.
This is why, when he encounters Banjo, the Fifth and active wielder of OFA [Yoichi], AFO is smiling.
It's been a long time, but Yoichi's in reach again. He knows where he is now. And this is the first time he's encountered the current holder.
Thus his shock.
[Yet... you never behave as I wish.]
It was the first time a Quirk wouldn't let itself be stolen. This was AFO's first encounter with this wall: it doesn't transfer without the holder's consent, and requires willpower stronger than all the holders combined to override that.
The holder is never going to give him that consent. To override the collective willpower, he's going to need something greater.
Meanwhile, look at Banjo's arms. Shinomori is the catalyst to tip OFA over the edge, that an unprepared vessel will be destroyed by how strong the Quirk is.
Banjo's arms are both messed up below the shoulder, just like Midoriya used to be. And like Midoriya uses Blackwhip to reinforce himself and stay standing, Banjo uses Blackwhip to hold his fist / arm together. His hand is being wrapped to stay in a fist.
(What I think is) The reason the limbs turn red, and then purple, from breakage, is a matter of blood vessels. Small, itty bitty, fragile things.
Using OFA breaks the whole area, from bones to blood vessels, causing internal bleeding. Thus the redness. But breaking those vessels again in a second go turns the area purple, because it causes instantaneous internal bruising.
But En wasn't ripped apart by using OFA. There's a cut on his thumb that lines up with the path of destruction; AFO sliced him in half. Otherwise, he wouldn't have that cut if it were just OFA.
It's hidden by the text in [... you never behave as I wish], but depending on where you see this chapter, you can see he got cut on the thumb. It's clearer where we see Nana take his hair from him, in [I only want... to make you mine!]
I have a post in drafts about En being cut in half rather than it being because of OFA, but I also hit an image limit, so I'm gonna end here. Ta.

Need to get something off my chest
People in the fandom blaming Nana for causing Shigaraki to be abused and all the suffering the Shimura family went through as well as calling her decision to abandon Kotaro stupid is if someone blamed all the abuse and horrible actions of Enji that the Todoroki family had to suffer through on Enji's deceased father.
Specifically people appear to zone in on Nana's call to not have All Might or Gran Torino check in with her family when it makes sense. She knows AFO has eyes and ears everywhere and will use that to kill those closest to her and those around her as we know since Nana's husband is dead by the time Kotaro is given up for adoption and All Might leaves Japan for the US in order to avoid AFO for that same reason. There is also no way for Nana to know that her successor would wind up as the strongest wielder of One For All and would be the first person to take down All For One.
I'm not sure if you were in the mha critical side of tumblr, but this is a very common opinion here. Nana deserved better, and none of the nana hate honestly made sense.
People shouldn't blame nana for doing what she could to protect her child. She explicitly said that she had done it to protect him, and she didn't willingly want to give up her child. The act wasn't done out of malice but was done out of love. Her husband was dead, and all for one was on her tail. She had to train all Might, and there was no safe choice to keep kotaro. It was a hundred times safer to make a distance between her and kotaro so he could live without the burden of his mother's duties on top of him caring or threatening to cause him constant harm.
Nana tried her best as a mother, and we didn't talk enough about it. She, at the beginning, was probably the breadwinner of the family, her job making it so that she had limited time with her son, yet from the flashbacks we see that kotaro loved his mother dearly. He loved her that child him simply cried and cried when she was about to leave, he loved her to the point that he kept her picture acknowledging that she was his mother yet despising that she left him all alone. His hatred of nana stems mainly from feelings of sadness and betrayal, which only exist because he loved his mother and felt safe when she was near.
I suppose we don't talk about the fact that after nana's husband died and she became a widow she had to juggle all the responsibilities of being a weirder of OFA, a mother who had to be constantly active in her child's life and a hero who had to save others while also ensuring that she earned enough money to keep her son comfortable.
I headcanon that at the time nana was never a good cook and that it was her husband that usually cooked for the family but when he died she had to take on the cooking duties which was a struggle but we see her actively trying even including her son in the process.
Giving up kotaro was the most logical circumstance, and I stand by that. I think to a certain extent, kotaro realises that too, and it's exactly why he doesn't blame his mother but blames her job he blames the hero, not his mother. To me, it evidently seems like kotaro separates nana into two different versions : the hero and his mother.
If we follow that belief, it's exactly why the only photo that kotaro has with his mother is so painful. Every time he sees that photo he in a way, is forced to acknowledge that both versions of nana are his mother. The photo shows his mother, but it shows her in her hero attire she is the 7th weirder of ofa in that picture not his mother but the mannerisms, the way she smiles and looks at him is that of a mother's look.
A haunting picture for kotaro. A picture of a mother's love.
Comparisons between enji and nana fall on deaf ears especially when you look at the circumstances and situations that both characters are faced with.
Enji DOESN'T love his children, his actions were out of malice, greed and desire to be great. He sacrificed family for greatness.
Nana LOVED her child. Her actions had a desire to protect, love, and care for her only family, her only offspring. A beautiful light in the world that she doesn't want destroyed by AFO. She had no choosing as I bet if she truly had the choice. She would do anything to love, protect, and be with her child. In a dreadful situation, nana chose the only way to guarantee kotaros safety.

quirkless teacher izuku, running out on his class because kacchan got kidnapped again. And just because he's quirkless doesn't mean he's still not fearl and protective of kacchan.
No cuz imagine if Deku found his purpose in teaching, as a way to keep on going even if quirkless. And his selflessness and poor skills to take care of himself kick out even as a teacher. He does not miss a day in school, he'll go with a fever, with leftover pain from his old injuries. He'll be there no matter what because his students need him.
But one day at school he notices people murmuring and shushing when he passed by. He got antsy but he also paid no mind, there's too much to do!!!
Unless he hears one of the last year students say Dynamight's name. Izuku thinks he heard wrong. Maybe it was all might instead of him. And if it was all might, yes he would be worried, but he might just take some fruits and sweets to his hero and that's it.
But izuku's heart sinks, because the reaction of his students is too damn obvious and he seems almost apologetic. What is it. Please someone tell him what happened.
He never was as happy as right now for a "problem child" as aizawa called them, because she was brutally honest and told him that Dynamight has not been seen since his last mission, and the last radio communication they had with him, had clear noises of struggle and pain.
Izuku might not have OFA anymore. But something clearly ignited in him, and he was never this fast. Not even with a quirk. Cuz when he had it, he wasn't able to save katsuki.
Izuku had told his students, about how his journey as a hero started because of his body moving on his own. They had never seen it in person, because back then they were still little. But now classes had been stopped because of a raging green haired teacher running through the hallways to leave without a notice or word of any kind.
He tried calling Dynamight, he tried calling everyone that was on that mission. But dynamight's phone was the only one turned off, instead of beeping and going to voicemail.
He was frantic, unstoppable, until being tied by aizawa who had a mixture of annoyance and nostalgia to see his student, now coworker, acting like this. He thought for a second on how to get through this rabid man who was muttering to let him go, let him go to help him, let him go to...
"what can you even do? Do you have that little faith in him?"
Izuku was breathing so fast that he was breathless, he choked up and only could say no with his head while still trying to get out of aizawas grip.
Aizawa thought that his students couldn't see izuku like that, and he could not let him go home because the idiot would certainly go to find Bakugo so he tied him as tightly as he could and promised him to get in touch with dynamight's team so he could give any update to izuku.
Izuku was spiralling, for various reasons. He still had the memory of katsuki's corpse on the field. He felt lonely without OFA but now he felt helpless.
Where could he be. What is he doing.
Is he not going to be capable of ever helping or saving bakugo?
But aizawa was right, he had to have faith in him. He had to have faith in his hero, in the one who again and again has done amazing stuff and came thru the other end alive, even in the most ridiculous scenarios.
"he'll be fine, he'll be fine, please be fine" the muttering continued for hours.
It was now dark, and aizawa had not returned as he was also busy with his class and izuku's class. Deku was swaying himself, while tied up still, to calm himself a bit and wait for answers.
"where is he?!?" He heard, it was still low but soon enough it was a loud and strong voice that he recognized and made him choke up. Dynamight. "GET OUT OF MY FUCKING WAY WHERE THE FUCK IS HE." Dynamight was alive. Deku was not believing his ears though, he had to see him.
The students in their dorms were able to hear the screams, and were still very much confused after their teacher went missing for the entire day and now one of the pro heros was making a scene.
Deku tried to move but the hunger and emotional turmoil had gotten him exhausted and now he just wanted to bawl his eyes out.
But he finally saw him, the relief of hearing him had gone away. Dynamight was injured. Seriously injured. Not dead, wonderfully, but his suit was ripped. He was dirty with mud and blood, and had a slight limp to his movements. He had awful dark bags under his crimson eyes, that were still sparkling as they did when he used cluster. "Why were you calling? What the fuck happened and why did old aizawa had to tie you up? Answer me dammit"
What do you mean why was he calling, WHERE HAD HE BEEN. WHY IS HE IN THIS STATE. WHY HAD HE GONE MIA AND WHY COULD NO ONE GIVE HIM A FUCKING ANSWER.
But katsuki was too busy thinking that izuku needed him, and when he found out that this fucking nerd was searching for him, he spent the last bits of his energy in a sudden escapade throwing all their strategy and planning through the window. The villains were thankfully caught, but all of the evidence they needed had been destroyed because Blondie right here had decided to explode everything and anything to come over here.
Seems like they'll keep to misunderstand each other, and of course they didn't talk about this on their way home, as aizawa told them to deal with their fucking mess and leave him alone.

Hello! Been really enjoying your MHA takes especially the aftermath, it had me thinking but what if Hawks and the HC were responsible were for wiping out Izuku's record in the Final War. We know there was people recording Izuku's battle with Tomura but yet people not knowing about Izuku and acting like he is some mysterious legend just didn't sit right with me. But if they knew, OFA was going to disappear and there would be no Symbol of Peace in the short term until Mirio arrived (bleh). Then it would make sense why Hawks and company would delete this stuff for any number of reasons. It would be this weird sort of propaganda where the collective is glorified. While still retaining the status quo until they can find a stronger Symbol because I refuse to take seriously Mirio being number 1 cause his quirk is overrated.
This would help explain why Izuku's role in the war is essentially erased and no one seems to have remembered him despite being the deciding factor, but his depression/guilt means he doesn't care to talk about. It would be overwhelming for Izuku because the propaganda would only assert that his role was meaningless despite it being the contrary. Of course, it doesn't help that nobody does anything to help lift Izuku from his mental problems.
What your saying is absolutely plausible, however there are a few things that conflict with your theory.
No one really knew about OFA in the first place. This is a massive fuck up on Hori's part, as "canonically" only 3 people really know about OFA (5, if you count sheild and Melissa)
The fact is, the general public isn't really aware of what OFA was. To their knowledge Izuku might have been one of AFO's science projects or something of the sort, which could have created problems in trying to reestablish "order".
Thus the Commission thought it best for OFA to just fade into the background and that meant nipping every bud related to it. Including Midoriya.
You see, All Might is covered. He's made a name for himself and even though there was panic after his retirement, he's still one of the only people capable of standing firm. That alone grants him a level of protection and support networks that Midoriya clearly lacks.
The second issue is that the idea of a symbol is so ingrained with All Might (or rather the idea of AM) that OFA is connected to that by proxy.
The Commission needs a hero that doesn't exist anymore, because in a post Liberation War Japan? They can't exist.
Not when people have been exposed to how rotten the current system is underneath and no 'new coat of paint' will ever be enough to change that, no matter how fanciful the lie.
Midoriya by his very nature (and failings) as a hero, cannot become 'the greatest' in this world, because what once passed for the greatest turned out to be a human trafficking piece of shit, who was killed by his victim's own hand.
Izuku's record wasn't so much wiped, as much as he just gave up. He went so went so far off course that he wound up in a worse position than when he started and dragged everyone with him in the process.
The reality is a culture built on "out of sight, out of mind" when it comes to crime. MHA's Japan does this, but far, far worse and that isn't sustainable. Not when you have massive critics like Japan does.
Japan is in a free fall, Toshinori is one of those people, hopefully I'll get around to writing that mini chapter fully.
Hawks doesn't have the brains to lead. As seen in the U.N Meeting, he's a horrible politician (being a child soldier will do that). He's used to taking orders and polishing the boots of whomever is giving them, not sitting down and discussing how they (the nations) can use their power to make the world a better place.
As for the Hero Boards, due to the lack of participation, they fluctuate violently every term due to the smaller voting pool. Mirio's rank is only semi-consistant, with him constantly switching to number one and number three every odd poll showcase.
The portion of the public that still look up to heroes see him as a model person, but not a model hero. As they look for a hero that will never come.
The truth is there cannot be another All Might in the same way there can never be another AFO (Pre Kamio ofc). They were titans of their time, only able to exist because of the circumstances unique to their times.
There's a saying that is often misquoted
"The survival of the fittest"
This is an incomplete version of the phrase, the correct version is: "The survival of the fittest to adapt"
That is what evolution is, an arms race.
There will never truly be another All Might, there may never be another League Of Villains. But it doesn't matter, because some way, somehow.
The pieces will slot into place and then the real fun can begin. So long as their are those who slip through the cracks. So long as the current society stands.
There will always be that child that everyone can see, but choose to ignore.
They can lie to themselves, have them put on a happy face, shunt them to fitting into the current "mold" and then go home and wash their hands of responsibility because "I did my part".
It won't make them any less guilty.
It won't make those children any less adaptable.

Just a little rant.. no spoilers
I always think it's really irritating when people try and say Bakugou is irrelevant to the story, like what? Did we read the same thing? Cause Izuku would not have received ofa if it wasn't for Katsuki being the person attacked by slime. Izuku was literally like "oh gee poor guy, I hope a hero with the right quirk shows up, cause All Mights out thanks to me" until he actually looked up and saw that it was his Kacchan being suffocated and it was *no thoughts. head empty.* he fucking sprinted. That wouldn't have happened the way it did if it had been anybody else. It had to be Katsuki or the story would have been completely different because All Might wouldn't have seen Izuku's (seemingly random) act of heroism despite being quirkless and thus never choosing him to be ninth. Katsuki plays such a huge role in the plot of the story and has since the very first page.
It also boggles my mind how quick people are to label Katsuki an irredeemable abuser, and honestly, people who demonize he like that give me the ick. Like, he's just a kid who's so scared of his own emotions and how his friend makes him feel, that he lashes out in the only response he knows how. He's a kid with anger issues, who makes mistakes just like the rest of us. I'm not excusing what he said, cause it was fucked up, but he recognized that it was fucked up and worked hard to apologize to Izuku and make it up to him. Even if Izuku had already forgiven him.
And I really do think Izuku had already forgiven him, because that's who Izuku is. Izuku never victimized himself. He couldn't. Because he wanted to be a hero, just like All Might. And he can't be a hero if he's a victim. That's a double edged mentality to have and it definitely came into play during the vigilante arc. Izuku is the kind of person who breaks himself to help others, he has little to zero self preservation skills mixed with overwhelming kindness and compassion. When Katsuki told him to take a swan dive, his response was essentially "You're an idiot Kacchan, what would you have done if I was the kind of person to take you seriously? Can't be a hero like that, nope!" He really didn't entertain the idea of himself jumping, and instead focused on berating Katsuki's rude and insulting behavior. He didn't like it and doesn't approve of a future pro acting like that, because he still holds no doubt that Katsuki will become a pro hero. Because "Kacchan's amazing".
Izuku and Katsuki's character arcs are so heavily intertwined that you really can't talk about one without mentioning the other. They know each other's habits, behavior, and mannerisms better than anyone else, yet misunderstanding is such a present theme in their relationship. It's so complex that I don't see it as a stereotypical victim×bully ship, it goes so much deeper than that.
In a story about hope, change, and redemption it's disheartening seeing parts of the fandom completely miss the point.

Kith and Kin x Keys to the Kingdom: Due to being siblings/friends Sakura and Shikibi both give Midoriya a keychain. Sakura's would be first, if only because she NEVER doubted he could become a hero, Quirk or no Quirk.
Shikibi would be after All Might passed on OFA-and, y'know giving Midoriya his keychain-because she did her best to limit how Katsuki bullied him. It still happened, but it wasn't as bad as it could've been.
She also acted like a confidant for the both of them when they needed someone to talk to.

Shigaraki dies, and goes back in time. To the day OFA was transferred to Deku…
[part 1]
rough idea/summary [part 2]
•
It's the day of the UA entrance exam - late afternoon. Testing is over. Results, of course, haven't even begun to be calculated yet; they will be announced by mail next week. Nothing left but to go home.
And so Deku walks out the gates, dejected. He's going over the whole day in his head: all the questions he read and answers he's given in the written portions, every move he made during the practical. By his own calculations, he just barely passed the written exam... which is nothing compared to the big fat zero he's definitely getting from the practical.
So caught up in his bleak thoughts, Deku walks straight into someone. Embarrassed, Deku apologizes, even though he's the one who's been knocked to the ground. The other guy seems perfectly fine. Well, he's older and is dressed in all black and looks like a ghoul and is staring creepily at Deku, but he seems fine.
When the guy calls out his name - Midoriya Izuku - though...
D-Do I know you?
The guy gives a strange answer: I guess not. But let's talk.
The guy asks Deku if he just took the UA exam to be a Hero, and Deku answers in the affirmative. (Almost starts to ramble about, well, he took the exam, because he wants to be a Hero, yeah, but it didn't go so well... but stops himself in time. No need to tell a stranger all that.)
Why? The guy asks. Why does he want to be a Hero?
That's a simple and easy question. Deku says, to help people. To save them. He wants to be like All Might, saving people with a smile. Deku gives his own smile here, because who wouldn't know of All Might and All Might's smile.
The guy has no reaction to that. He only asks again, Why? Why does he want to save people?
This makes Deku think a little, but not too much. The answer is simple - because they need saving. When someone is in trouble, it's just natural to want to help, right?
Is it?
Well—yeah. Deku finds that it's hard to explain his answer, which is clearly what this guys wants him to do. (Is this a secret UA exam? Judging his character? Determining if he's worthy???) Seeing someone having trouble, being in pain or going through something hard and difficult, it's only right to give them a hand. They should be helped, because... they need it.
So it's pity.
No! Not exactly. It's not judging them, it... shouldn't be that? - it's just... easing their burden. And the burden you'd feel as well. It's hard to see someone suffering, isn't it? Helping them feels better, for everyone.
So it's about your ego.
No!!! (Oh, Deku's so failing this part of the exam too.) He just wants to save people! Isn't that enough?
This time, the guy asks: What if they don't deserve it? What if they're done terrible things, things that are unforgivable? And they'll continue to do them, no matter what. Would you help those people, Midoriya Izuku, if they're in trouble?
It's a moral question that feels a little more complex than any entrance exam would require (so is this guy just... some random weirdo?) but Deku realizes he has the answer. He talks about - who else? - Bakugou, a friend, a bully, and someone who's probably never going to change. But one day last year, his friend needed help. He looked scared. He was in pain. At that moment, he needed saving. Deku wasn't really thinking about any of the stuff Bakugou did, or what he will do, in the future. All Deku thought was... that someone should be there for him.
I don't know about forgiveness, or anything like that, and maybe it really is just a shallow answer, but... if someone looks like they need help, then I'll help them.
The guy is quiet for a long while. Not looking at Deku, just staring off into the distance. Deku wonders and rehearses how he'll make a polite excuse to leave, when the guy finally gives a huff. Says, Nothing has changed, huh?
Deku is very, very confused, but the guy only says nevermind, and turns to leave the same way he entered Deku's day - suddenly and bizarrely.
But when moving, the guy winces; there's a stiffness to him, to his arm; and Deku has to ask, Are you okay? Is it your arm? Do you need help?
The guy says he's fine, and tries to dodge around Deku, but that only makes his wrist visible - with blood. Which alarms Deku, who tries to gently herd the guy toward UA. There's a doctor inside the school - a Hero, actually, with a healing quirk, it's really cool - she can help, she actually just helped me—
Their tiny commotion thankfully gets some of the staff - and All Might!? - to the scene, and just one word from Deku about the guy being hurt immediately has All Might carrying him off to Recovery Girl.
-
At the medical bay, the guy is utterly ungrateful. He says to All Might, You're as annoying as ever; but All Might takes it in stride, keeping his signature smile, even though Deku can see that he's confused and a little hurt.
Recovery Girl heals the guy. Then also brings attention to everything else wrong about the guy. You have multiple puncture wounds... And I see lots of blood, too much to be healthy, but it's all not yours, is it?
(Black is a good color to hide dried blood.)
Surprisingly, the guy answers bluntly and honestly. No.
At this, Deku can feel the atmosphere gets heavier, a little. All Might immediately gets more serious, asking if something had happen, if the young man - because in better lighting, he looked only to be a couple of years older than Deku - was in danger. Was it a Villain? Are they still in the area?
The guy refuses answering and tries to leave, but All Might blocks his path - with a showy flourish - and persists in trying to help. It's okay to tell him - All Might is here! There's no need to be afraid. He'll keep him safe. Evil will be caught and punished. Things will be okay. (Meanwhile, Deku watches Recovery Girl call the police.)
Unstoppable force vs. immovable object. Guy is a quick dodger and won't stop trying to leave, while All Might won't quit trying to get the guy to stay and talk.
Let's get your name! Can you tell us your name?
Fine, you want my name? The guy snaps. The family name is Shimura.
All Might freezes, and Deku sees something he thought was impossible - (Hero form) All Might's smile fading.
Shimura continues. But I don't want anything to do with you. So don't follow me.
Deku can just hear something shattering inside All Might. As he rushes over to All Might to see if he's okay, Shimura walks past them and leaves... but not before pausing at the door and saying something that breaks All Might again.
All For One is dead. I just killed him.
(A clattering sound. Recovery Girl's dropped her cane. Deku wants to grab it and give it back to her, but he doesn't want to leave All Might in his catatonic state either.)
Shimura says, I don't know if it'll stick, but if he does come back, I'll deal with it. You don't have to worry about him anymore.
Deku has so many questions. All Might, what's going on? Do you know Shimura-san? Who's All For One? Who just died? Are you okay?
Shimura gives a laugh at this. Says to Deku, so no one told you anything either. Says to All Might, better tell your successor everything, so he's prepared.
Prepared? All Might finally breaks out of his daze. But you just said...
It's me you'll need to worry about, from now on. Shimura says. You are Heroes. And I'm still a Villain.
Shimura walks out the door. And somehow, in the second between that and Deku running out to chase after him, Shimura has disappeared.

What's your opinion on Izuku getting One for All? Like, I understand that part of the fandom doesn't like it, since he's quirkless, but for my point of view, I don't care about that, besides, I think One for All is important for Izuku, since he's the protagonist and I think it would be meaningless if he didn't receive the quirk, of course Izuku should continue to remember his past and such, but I think it's kind of silly for the fandom to criticize this, to be honest there are things that I think the fandom exaggerates in question of criticism. Plus I always imagine Izuku being Superman or SpiderMan.
I can see both sides of the argument.
I absolutely understand why some of the fandom takes issue with him being told, "You can only achieve your dream if you modify your body." It's hard not to label that as ableist. Horikoshi's execution of this certainly doesn't help.
But I think the problem at its root- that people who make this argument don't understand- is that heroism in MHA is a profession. It's easy to point out characters like Batman and Iron-Man because they've worked around not having powers. However, forgoing the fact that both are filthy rich, they aren't limited by regulations and standards (well, sometimes in Iron-Man's case, but Batman is a vigilante who literally works outside the law).
Heroes in MHA are bound by regulations, they adhere to a system. While there might not outright be a law that prohibits quirkless people from being heroes, that system is created to bolster power above all else. They didn't even let quirkless people into UA at all until Izuku was in middle school, not to mention the hero course.
So while I think Izuku could have been a capable hero without a quirk, it's a matter of the system not letting him become one. That's something no one- not All Might and especially not Inko- could have changed. The most Izuku could have become was an illegal vigilante. I feel like not enough people recognize that.
As for One For All, I actually like to compare Izuku to Captain America. The Super Soldier Serum simply enhanced what was already inside him. Good became great. Izuku wasn't just handed OFA, he earned it. So that someone good could become someone great.
The past users also had to choose whether to give him their quirks, which also reinforces that he had to earn their respect. He had to prove he was worthy of their power.
Earning One For All has always been about his heart, not his body

The Todoroki's have to consider one thing about Izuku and All Mights connection. Do they think Izuku knows that All Might is his bio dad? I mean sure they don't share any physical traits, but his quirk his definitely different from his mother's. They think about how the child of the number 1 hero would be such a high target. They understand why All Might can't claim Izuku as his kid, especially with the LOV on the rise. They don't like the fact that All Might is basically an absentee dad, but they understand. He just wants his kid to be safe, it adds a depth to All Might that wasn't there before. They see a tragedy. And anytime that Izuku says that All Might isn't his father, they think of how much All Might wants to step in.
Obviously this is all a misunderstanding and deeply embarrassing to Izuku.
Okay so going down the line of whether or not they think Izuku knows:
Shoto - Up in the air at first but leaning towards 'doesn't know considering Izuku denying it when called out and bad lying skills. Concludes a 'no' for sure when the Melissa situation happens.
Natsuo - Thinks Izuku doesn't know. He only saw the duo interact for a few moments, but it was All Might fussing over Izuku in RG's office and on his end it was parental but Izuku seemed oblivious
Fuyumi - Thinks that Izuku knows because they're a little too close for just student-teacher(though not sus ofc) and she thinks Izuku would've noticed the closeness and questioned it if he didn't already know
Toya - Assumes Izuku knows because he 'connected the dots' via the other side in that Shigaraki and AfO weren't exactly keeping aspects of OfA a secret from the LoV(even if they don't give all the details), so 'All Might has a Quirk he can pass down to some apprentice + said apprentice is a child he's teaching in school instead of any number of capable adults = that's his child he's been training for the position.
Enji - 100% thinks Izuku knows because the reason he 'connected the dots' is Izuku's conversation to him trying to say "Hey I'm not All Might in the same way Shoto isn't you" and what Enji got out of that is 'oh All Might had a kid too!"
Rei - Thinks Izuku doesn't know because surely he'd have dropped the 'act' by this point, right? Like All Might is semi-retired and the Villains are gunning for Izuku anyway, why not roll with it?

Hi there,
I'd love to know your ideas and opinion on Hori going out of his way to make Bakugou the second OFA user as it was shown in the movie. Are you a fan of it?
This post has aged badly because of how long it's been sitting in my inbox, but... well, I was the one who did that, so that's my own fault.
Hahahahahah, yeah, wow, sweet flying fuck no. In a series that has been escalating in how many bad decisions they've made lately, that is one of the worst. More than that, it is telling, in this deeply concerning way, about how little Hori seems to like his own main character.
I've never watched the movie, and I have no desire to, because I'm pretty sure all that'd happen if I did would be me spending the entire movie picking out plot holes than anything, but I have done some basic research on it, and my impression is that it's very... Naruto filler-movie-y, where the protagonists get Random Power up that is basically never spoken of again (note that this is basically official confirmation of Bakugou's promotion), the same general kind of big fight sequence where both of them work together, etc.
It's just... it's just shallow, though, is the thing. At least the filler Naruto movies had the basic decency to make up whatever power up they used and threw away; here Izuku is taking one of the foundational parts of the entire story and just.... giving it away. All of his emotional attachment to it, as a Quirk, as his Quirk, as part of a legacy connecting him to All Might, One For All, and what is singlehandedly keeping him in his current place in society (since at this point he wasn't allowed to be smart anymore), and he just throws it away to Bakugou.
And then, to top it off, it just comes back to him. Some Fucking How(TM). And, because this is, again, one of the foundational parts of the fucking story, that just leaves... so many questions. So many.
Like. If the Quirk could yeet itself from hosts it doesn't like, could AFO ever really take it? Or would it Yeet Thyself from his body, and presumably take a copy of AFO with it in the process (and doesn't that mean, since there was that nod to this happening in canon, that Izuku should have Explosion now? That he literally, by Hori's own logic, has taken that fundamental core of Bakugou's character, and should be in the perfect place to invalidate his entire, badly managed and over all atrocious 'character arc'?).
Really, the more I think on this, the more I realize that that is proof that, not only was Explosion drastically warped to contort to Hori's whims, but so was OFA; OFA, originally, was just supposed to support Izuku, as an assistance to his character, but as time passed, it became clear that that was no longer true, and Izuku only existed to assist OFA. And no, I'm not even talking about the actual person, I'm talking about the set of powers Izuku's entire purpose in the story had been reduced to helping display on demand.
And the fact that, looking at it with that symbolism in mind, that movie's ending was a perfectly horrible encapsulation of what happened in the overall story, of Izuku handing his entire self identity over to Bakugou, for him to take and use however the hell he wanted.
...Fuck, that's depressing. Really, honestly, I wonder why the hell Izuku even exists. Seriously. It's clear that Hori doesn't want him, and he wants all the good Izuku things to go to Bakugou; there's plenty of manga and anime with an asshole of a main character, although a lot of early things would have to be changed to explain how that'd work...
I wonder, but I actually know that answer: beyond needing a more acceptable hero, beyond changing plans, having Bakugou as the focus the way Izuku was would, A, put a spotlight on the traits of him Hori clearly wanted to avoid doing, and B, would put more pressure on Hori to make Bakugou change in way he so clearly wasn't allowed to do, to make the reality of him match up with the narrative version so many people love (You could argue that Izuku, in a similar place, stopped changing after awhile, but at the same time his complete lack of growth is the main reason why the people stopped liking him anymore, because he stopped feeling like a person, and one of the major reasons the second half of the story became so overwhelmingly shit, to the point even people just casually enjoying the story on a surface level read couldn't miss; combining that clusterfuck with Bakugou's shit characterization is probably the only reason Hori didn't just... have Izuku die at some point so Bakugou could flat out replace him, along with shallow nods to their 'rivalry' (like this movie!) to help the story sell).
...I've gotten off topic. So, to sum up: No. No, I hate it, it's terrible, I'm glad I've never had to actually watch it happen.

Well, it's officially My Herover
What a god damn bummer
I remember starting the series, feeling not quite satisfied with the MCU at the time and loving Izuku and All Might and the way the series didn't take long to put Bakugo's ego in check
Then the sports festival arc blew everything out the water. Deku's resourcefulness during the obstable race, the cavalry team battle, Bakugo vs Uraraka, my boy Shinso, and the unforgettable Deku vs Todoroki really made me feel like this was a mangaka who could make an excellent story with any character, no matter how little screentime they'd had before
The Stain arc wasn't quite as impactful as the sports festival, but it did wonders for Deku, Iida and Todoroki's growth, and Uraraka's martial arts training was a welcome surprise
The training camp was Deku's finest moment. I don't care what anybody says, "My Hero" is the greatest Izuku chapter and both the manga and anime did magic with it
And then came the peak of the series, though we wouldn't know it for years. All Might vs All for One. I remember being stressed out of my mind that All Might would die, and happy beyond belief when he survived
But then cracks started appearing. The eight precepts arc skipped the all-girls team and gave Izuku a get-out-of-jail-free card to abuse his powers with no consequences whatsoever. The festival arc was great but seeing Nejire in a beauty competition didn't make up for her being skipped in the eight precepts arc
And then Izuku developed a second quirk, and the promise of six more quirks down the line, which was honestly the beginning of the end. I said as much when the chapter dropped and history had proven me right. Because Izuku was already gonna become the strongest hero in history, stronger than All Might, because that's how OfA works. There was no need to give him a swiss army knife of extra superpowers
The villain arc did little to ease my worries. It focused on the three villains that had already had the most screentime and ignored Spinner and Compress who really needed some more background exploration, and it made Shigaraki bonkers levels of powerful
And then there was the war. During the kids' first year of school. Midnight got killed offscreen, because I guess Horikoshi needed someone "important" to die but he didn't want to kill anybody actually important (seriously, go look at the list of casualties of the war. It's a bunch of nobodies and Midnight)
Star and Stripes came and died only to nerf Shigaraki, which wouldn't have been necessary ir Hori could balance his power sets
Nagant came, exposed even more the dark side of hero agencies, got immediately redeemed by Izuku and then blew up
Deku's vigilante arc was. A thing that existed. And it really showed how underdeveloped most of Class 1A were, because the big emotional scene where everybody asks Izuku to remember the good times they shared together was 80% "hey remember this one and only scene we had?". Points for Bakugo and Iida though, they got the good stuff
The traitor reveal arc was also a thing that happened. Woulda been nice if the kids had had some actual time to process their feelings and deal with the fallout of the whole thing
And then the final war. Boy, did that one drag on forever. Bakugo died, then he got better because a hero who never had any screentime with him sacrificed himself to save him except he didn't even die so no biggie
Toga and Spinner could have had something, maybe, but Hori didn't spent enough time to seriously make them impactful. Spinner especially, the whole heteromorph discrimination thing felt way too forced and tacked on at the last minute
All Might busted out a mecha suit to fight on All for One's level, which would've come in pretty handy when they fought against Shigaraki. Then AfO died, but then he wasn't dead and was actually the one who gave Shigaraki his quirk, and he ate Shigaraki's soul and became the big bad, and then he died literally 2 chapters later, and Shigaraki who had enough energy left for one last hit against AfO also died for good. Oh and Izuku lost both arms, which had been built-up to happen since the sports festival, but then he got them back one chapter later so. No biggie
And then the final chapters. Society got better, don't ask for details. Everybody is 8 years older, don't ask for timeskip designs. Izuku is now a teacher, but he gets a new mech suit that shouldn't have taken 8 years to develop considering All Might's took months, and he jumps right back up to be a hero. The end
My Hero feels like the new gen Naruto. A large cast with varied powers that 80% never get properly developed in favor of the big 3, and a very interesting world that barely gets explored
The 1A vs 1B arc really feels like the point where the series becomes something different. Side characters begone, it's the Izuku-Bakugo-Shoto story. Inko, the protagonist's mother, who always had been shown suffering through Izuku's many injuries and even got All Might to admit he hadn't been taking proper care of his protegé, got sidelined and we don't even see her react to the truth of Izuku's quirk. Izuku masters 6 quirks offscreen, whereas before the series made an absolute point of showing the process of him growing and learning and improving
I really loved this series, and I'm damn dissappointed in what it became, in case it wasn't clear. I hope Horikoshi has made enough money to rest for a while. By the end he constantly needed to take breaks because his health was just going down the drain. I hope he gets to kick back and relax, and if he ever writes anything else I'm not gonna read it
Good bye, My Hero Academia. I'll always cherish the first parts and the characters, almost as much as I'll mourn all the wasted potential they all had

I'm really curious if people in the bnha subreddit know the meaning of character development when they say Bakugou changes and has better character development. Whenever I hear this sentence I'm like where tf is the change & development. He is the same guy he was from chapter 1. The only difference I've seen is he shouts less but that's it.
His apology to izuku was shit, his whole talk right after the apology about izuku's chosen path and ideals and how he was asking izuku to rely on him and shitty 1A was pure BS. The 2nd war proved how pathetic Bakugou and 1A were against AFO and my boi Shiggyband it also proved that Izuku was right to go vigilante and his reasons for doing it alone were right.
Also leading 1A's confrontation against Izuku, he never once took accountability for Izuku's mental state. Instead he blamed it on the one person who supported and was actually a positive influence to Izuku. He never opened up to anyone about how he abused and suicide baited Izuku.
He was being a prick to Fuyumi in the endeavour agency arc. Treated his team as lackeys and underlings in the JT arc. Bitched about how he wasn't included in the OFA meeting and disrespected the previous OFA holders. It was irritating that All might didn't tell him to get out for disrespecting Nana. Anyone other than Bakugou would've been a better sparring partner for Izuku during his blackwhip training.
Took izuku out and used him as his punching bag while gaslighting him for not revealing about OFA. Also why and how was he an inspiration to 1A when he didn't do shit for them. It should have only been Izuku.
Goes after the villains and gets himself captured even though he knew he was a prime target for LOV.
And why was he targeted by LOV? Thanks to his overall behaviour and track record from the sports festival fights with Uraraka and Shoto.
Even after knowing shoto's trauma, he still was being a POS to him.
They said he respected Uraraka in the sports festival but before the fight he told her to give up, looked down on her and never saw her as a threat. He was unnecessarily dragging the fight instead of ending it and used excess force in his explosion when it wasn't necessary considering it was just a sport and not a life or death battle. He later says "time to get serious" which means he never took her seriously which debunks Aizawa's claims and validates the audience's criticism of him. Even after the fight he still went and asked izuku if izuku had given a plan to her. This means he never thought Uraraka was capable of devising a strategy. So where was the respect in all this.
The subreddit always said he started to develop after the USJ arc but all the above arcs happened after USJ and none of them showed that he developed.
Hori literally bends the narrative to favour his pet and the bnha subreddit says "hurray character development", "he changed".
People actually claim that bakugo somehow started changing after the usj arc?!?! Really!!!
I personally don't think bakugo's character has had that big of a change at best I can say that he shouts a bit less but other than that there isn't much. The only reason that people think bakugo has changed is because the narrative tries to frame it that way and whenever bakugo does something that's outright wrong like punching Izuku it's painted as "oh that's just bakugo" or it's made into a gag that we are supposed to dismiss or laugh at.
In my opinion it's not just MHA subbredit that believes in bakugo's "amazing" redemption and arc but it's a good chunk of the MHA fandom in general. Heck I remember coming across a post that showed how bakugo changed and @sapphic-agent debunked the post (Iam glad she did and she done it really well)
If bakugo were to properly be developed than a good chunk of his arc should be to develop out of his rivalry or his need for one.

Bkdk au where they're BOTH quirkless
Kacchan is different in this one, he doesn't push Izuku away, he's hurting deep down because he thought they would be heroes together, but later on forced himself to accept that they can't, and focused on their relationship more, he always took care of reckless Izuku when he got hurt, but at the end of middle school he isolated himself a little bit as it was almost time to choose a highschool and the quirkless shame started kicking in again, so Izuku wasn't as close with him when it was time to choose, but he knew he wasn't gonna go to ua, as he always made a point about how dangerous it would be to take the exam without a quirk. Izuku wanted to go to the same school and take the same major as Kacchan, and did find out which school he chose, but he didn't know what major, but he knew they weren't gonna give up on helping people, so he was positive that Kacchan must have chose law enforcement! Exept he didn't. He chose medicine. Izuku was sad that they wouldn't be in the same class, but at least they could still hang out. Exept they were in the same class, because it was merged, so there would only be a couple classes they didn't take together. They spend a lot of time studying together, but they also feel the pressure of still being virgins (they have a very horny class let's say). Bakugo doesn't mean to do anything about it thought, but he does consider his options and realizes he doesn't want anyone other than Izuku. Him on the other hand struggles, considers every girl in the class, then the other classes, can't imagine being with them (I personally hc him as pan but let's say he's gay here), realizes he's gay, considers all the boys as options too, tries flirting, it doesn't go well, drives Kacchan a little bit away, realizes Kacchan is also an option, wants Kacchan, tries getting him to initiate, all that stuff, meanwhile someone else has ofa and they end up meeting them (I was thinking Melissa but I'm not sure), Kacchan gets jealous, yada yada, and maybe when the war happens (I don't know anything abt the war I don't read the manga and I haven't seen all of the anime sry) there's a lockdown, so they either sneak out to be together, or got stuck together in the first place
I just rlly wanted an au where there wasn't the hero stuff on their shoulders and they could be horny teenagers together, idk why Izuku want to fit in so bad that he would lose his virginity, that might be out of character, but I think I like this concept

Thoughts on All For One being Izuku's dad.
*MILD SPOILERS AHEAD*
I'll be honest I was fully convinced this theory would come to fruition in one way or another (Izukus dad never being around, "Hisashi" meaning a long time ago, the parallels between the first OFA user and Izuku, etc.) so I was a little disappointed it ended up not being true, especially considering the closure it would bring to the OFA AFO quirks with the bloodline coming full circle within Deku. I'm bringing this up though because I wanted to share one of my main ideas of why/how AFO could have been Izukus dad---pre-All Might battle AFO realized that he would never be able to get OFA himself (It would never willingly be given to him and trying to steal it was out of the question) and that instead he needed somebody else to get it for him. And the only way they would be able to get it is if it were passed onto them willingly. He needed a hero. He could have found a budding hero, or anybody really, and manipulated them into a position where they would be given AFO, but this was his brothers quirk he was trying to take back. He wanted to get it as close to him as possible. Back to the Shigarki bloodline. So he started looking at different female hero's. The ones that were good enough for his standards rejected him. They said something about him unsettled them. He wasn't actively looking the day he found her. He was eating at a restaurant when he heard a man several tables down loudly reprimand a server. He called her "Stupid!" and "Insolent!" and "Bitch!" She stood up and called out "Leave her alone!" Their was determination in her eyes. They were green like his brothers. They married in the summer under cool leaves. Both of them were getting older. Neither of them had found somebody. He liked her. She couldn't believe he liked her. Hisashi liked that she lacked self-confidence. Izuku was born eleven months later, with green eyes a shade lighter than his mothers. Hisashi laid a hand on his forehead and felt the embers of a quirk fill his soul. He tried to use it, later, but found he couldn't. The quirk alluded him like smoke in the wind, shapeless and unidentifiable but without a doubt there. He didn't dwell on his disappointment. He had a job to do. Hisashi surrounded him with heros---comic-books, figurines, posters, clothing, dish ware, keychains, pillow-cases, but especially, All Might. "Plus Ultra!" Hishashi said. "Plus Ultra!" Izuku said. "Plus Ultra!" All might said when he punched his face clean off. Even away Hisashi kept up the conditioning. He exclusively bought TV packages that were dedicated hero only broadcast stations. Through his power on the board he convinced UA to start accepting quirkless people. As much as he could do while away. It wasn't hard. Izuku inherited his mothers demeanor. Or maybe his brothers. Hisashi couldn't tell. A simple villain release synced up with All Mights patrol and Izukus school schedule worked brilliantly, and, before Hisashi knew it, Izuku had OFA. His brother was born again. Hisashi couldn't believe how well the plan had worked. How easily Izuku clung to heroism. How quickly All Might believed in him. It was almost like destiny had lined up just for him. He would need to get Izuku on his side eventually. Maybe e would tell Izuku that the only way to stop Shigarki was to give himself up. Maybe something to play into his brothers heroism. Maybe something with Izuku's Kudo. The exact nature of the agreement he would figure out later, as long as it was something that would guaranteed his brother would be by his side again.
