So I posted that bingcheng fic right? And it's getting quite a bit of attention, which I love and appreciate, and is also dragging me deeper into the brainrot. So in honor of getting dragged in, I thought of two potential stories I probably won't write (at least until my normal life is not entering the pre-con-crunch season)

LBH Shixiong and JC Shidi

Lotus Pier

Binghe and his mother are servants of YMJ. JC is very friendly with them- and when WWX arrives, LBH comforts JC about his dog, (and the first time his mother slaps him because crying so loud wasn't going to change anything.) LBH starts training after his mother's death. He starts at a low level and late, progresses quickly, but hides it. He likes JC training him and its better to be underestimated. LBH isn't selected to join in Cloud Recesses. He's told to run during the Wen invasion by JC, but instead he hides, ambushes, and disguises himself as a Wen and steals JC away when they catch him...

Qing Jing Peak

As a show of goodwill, some of the Immortal Peaks are supposed to take disciples from mortal sects. SQQ ends up drawn to and choosing JC. The decision is an "honor" but JC thinks it might also just be because JFM had given up on him. SQQ tells him to keep his distance from the second youngest disciple- a little beast. (But JC has always like animals, anyway.) NYY ends up getting JC's help after some particularly bad bullying, and eventually JC learns LBH sleeps in the woodshed and invites him to his own room and bed. He used to share with WWX, and WWX would crawl into JC's bed after bad nightmares, so it was the same as that, right? LBH is fascinated by this little heir/shidi, and JC causes much less trouble for him than NYY. (He causes more trouble in puberty, but that isn't JC's fault.) When the Immortal Alliance Conference happens, JC takes a blow for LBH that gives him Without a Cure. Thankfully there are those flowers, but when the flowers don't cure it, LBH thinks dual cultivation might. (He might have other reasons, too) JC appears to be recovering, but he should help some of the other disciples- it's too bad his demon blood awakens...

What do you like/dislike about mphfpc content (videos, edits, art, fanfics, theories, headcanons, fanons, gacha reactions, etc.)? Do you have any favorite content makers?

I love love LOVE the art, cosplay, and writing in this fandom, it’s fucking FANTASTIC. The video makers too, I don’t know how edits work but they do not miss, they’re awesome.

@tomouraline is one of my absolute ride or die buddies and makes some AMAZING edits on TikTok (emwyns) and her art??? Chef’s kiss. Absolutely wonderful. Go look at her Emwyn and Fugh art it’s adorable

If you want hollowgast art, @carmine-golde has the most badass designs and definitely my favorite OC to play with, especially paired with the government-assigned ymbryne she gave me in return 🤣

@trainwrecksys with Bentham is me with Enoch. He single-handedly made me like (at least his) Bentham. That’s an achievement, I am stubborn and hold grudges. Go look at his art he will also make you like Bentham (plus his animation skills??????? Give me your BRAIN how do you have the patience for this)

Since we’re talking wights, check out @cauls-antique-pepperbox-pistol for literally everything about Caul and Murnau. He has the COOLEST art style and also the awesomest headcanons ever??? I literally never think about the wights how do you guys come up with these things for them this is COOL

Speaking of cool art styles. @theducklingart has such a fun one omg. His designs for the kids and his own OCs are to die for, and he’s just as fun to talk to as his art is to look at! (Plus he has commissions open y’all should go support him 👀)

If you want absolutely adorable Enorace fics like I always do, @metaphoricallymagpie has some of the sweetest fanfics on AO3 I’ve ever read. I beta read Fortunes and Formaldehyde and the sheer number of times I have kicked my feet and giggled like a madman over her writing omg

@ollibeuu isn’t active anymore, but please please PLEASE go to his AO3 (ollibeu) and check out his fanfics. He inspired me to start writing myself, and I haven’t seen a single one that hasn’t been phenomenal (and I got the opportunity to cowrite one with him! 🤭) I will literally always recommend his work go look at it if you like Enorace

@nerdypeculiar (peculiarinacostume) on TikTok has a V cosplay???? And so many other cool ones????? V, Miss Peregrine, Enoch, and they also make The Owl House and Hazbin Hotel content too??????? Go follow them. Right now. Before the ban please their account is CRIMINALLY underrated

I don’t think @evil-feather even needs an introduction. If you’ve seen her Miss Peregrine, you know she is the QUEEN of that cosplay. Hands down. She’s absolutely fantastic

@peculiar-shark has moved on to comic books (which you should 100% check out their videos on that on YouTube if you’re interested 👀 sunshine_sharkks) but will forever be known as first one of my oldest friends in this fandom but also second probably the biggest design inspiration for my Horace. Their old cosplays on TikTok (peculiar.sharkks) are UNMATCHED

(Honorable mention to my irl best friend literally ever @pixie2k5 who is not in this fandom but is the bestest Emma for my Enoch when we can cosplay together thank you for putting up with my insanity sis ilysm 💚)

Veek 2024 FAQ

What is this?

Vee Week, or Veek, is a celebration of our favorite basilisk. We're hoping to encourage new fanworks of all kinds!

When is it?/Why those dates?

Veek will take place from Wednesday, August 14th to Tuesday, August 20th, 2024. Those dates were chosen because Yesterday's Lie first aired on August 14th, 2021. (That's also the planned release date for the @vee-fanzine and we thought it would help boost both fandom events.)

That said, it's never "too late" to be inspired or post fanworks. We'll try to reblog tagged posts during actual Veek, so keep that in mind if you decide to post early or late.

Are there prompts?

Yes! There are three to choose from each day and five alternate prompts as well. This post has the final prompts and explains the tagging system. Many thanks to everyone who submitted potential prompts and voted in our poll.

Are there event graphics?

Yes! @kkupttown has done amazing work. This post has the prompt list, a banner you can use for posts, and participant/completionist badges.

What can I make?

You can make or write basically anything: haikus, limericks, 100 word drabbles, ficlets, long fics, traditional art, digital art, gifsets, rec lists, cosplay, embroidery, latte art, etc. One fanwork can be used to fill multiple prompts. If you have an ongoing WIP and want to incorporate a prompt into a new chapter, that's fine too!

What if I'm not interpreting a prompt correctly?

We are not policing people's interpretations of the prompts. If a prompt inspires you to create, that's fantastic!

Is there an AO3 Collection?

Yes! This will open on August 13, 2024. You can post fanworks there, or add bookmarks to external links (like Tumblr posts with fan art).

Are there any other Vee fandom events?

YES! The @vee-fanzine will be released on August 14, 2024. At least one future event may also be in the works. Mod @zyrafowe-sny cannot singlehandedly run something more complicated than a fanweek until the @nimonabigbang wraps up, but would be happy to consider assisting/collaborating on other TOH fandom events if you have any ideas.

These bottle openers were kind of an outlandish passion project that I really couldn't afford to fund but I'm so glad that I did. To date, I've sold them to fans in 3 different countries!

Ignore the fact that I'm overly excited and wearing zero makeup. This was the first shirt I sold at Otakon and he came back to my booth like three times before eventually buying it then wearing it the next day. THEN he wore it to a local coffee shop where he was spotted by someone who later found me on IG. Q: Can we post our works to on Ao3?

A: Absolutely. It’s your work feel free to post it anywhere you want! And absolutely feel free to promote the event on other platforms! I don’t have a twitter so if someone wants to promote it there feel free. The more participants the better!

Q: Are there going to be specific pairings as prompts?

A: Those actually aren’t allowed because I don’t want people to have to write for a pair that they may not be comfortable with.

Q: Can we submit prompts that have to do with a specific Trix member or a specific pair.

A: No. The goal is to make prompts as not restrictive as possible. That said, super specific prompts that feel like a commission request/like they are trying to get people to write or draw a very specific thing will be rejected.

What is this?

Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss is about the structure of Hell through Vivienne Medrano's mind. With the completion of the first season of Hazbin Hotel, we are excited to host a themed week to focus on Hell a little bit more. Through the themed week, we are hoping for more content from you guys, whether it is art (of any media other than murder, we'll keep that to the shows only), fanfic or anything else that makes sense to you to create!

When is it?

HellaVerse Week will take place between October 27th, 2024 to November 2nd to honor the release of the Hazbin Hotel Pilot which is October 28th, 2019, and @random-nerd-posts is hosting other events between that time and can't do two things at once it seems.

HOWEVER! This should not stop you from creating fan works for the fandoms either! But if you post before the week, we might miss you, so be sure to tag us when you do post so we can share the joy of creation with you.

What if I'm not interpreting a prompt correctly?

If the prompt calls to you one way, but not another person's, that's fine. This is what we call the creative process and encourage it.

Is NSFW Allowed?

YES! For sure NSFW is allowed. Yes, we will reblog nsfw content. Do we feel uncomfortable with the possibilities of minors participating, yes, but we also trust that they know not to post nsfw content online. So don't do it.

We are allowing NSFW works because... HAVE YOU SEEN THE SHOWS?!?! Have you seen Asmodeus, or Hazbin Hotel episode 4? Yeah, those are nsfw, so can the content. BUT TAG ACCORDINGLY OR WE WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE IT!

4. This is an 18+ event. If I find out you lied about being an adult, I will remove you. 

5. I know that people are busy. We all have lives, right? Because of that, this is a low-pressure event. If you can only fill one square, that is totally fine! If you make a Bingo, THEN HAVE ANOTHER CARD! This event is for us to have fun, no matter how much you are able to commit to.

6. Each fill must be completed and not posted behind a pay-wall. You can use one square per chapter of a multi-chapter fic if you would like, but each chapter must be a completed fill. If you are creating using other mediums, then we ask each fill be its own post, but they can, of course, be linked together 

 - 250 is the word count minimum.

 - Art is any completed piece. Complete is defined as having all the necessary or appropriate parts. Art can be physical or digital and must be your own work. Art can include but is not limited to: sketch, line art, full render images, comic strips, 3D animation, 2D animation, fanvids (including music videos and trailers), photomanips, cell drawings, painting in all forms, sculptures, crafts, full cosplay photography, refracted light “painting”, wood carvings, ice sculptures, etc.

 - Mood boards/gif sets are a minimum of 6 images. 

 - Playlists need a minimum of ten songs.

 - Podfics MUST have the owner’s consent and have the original linked on AO3. Additionally, the fic being read must have a minimum of 250 words.

 - Other creations, ask us and I will let you know what’s considered a fill! 

- Collaborations are allowed, and we don’t have any additional requirements for such.

- Cross-posting for other events is fine, and I don’t have any additional requirements for such.

7. Bingo definitions for this event

Bingos are any of the following: Rows, diagonals, columns, and/or four corners and the center. If you complete all the squares on your card, you have a blackout! Once you complete a bingo, you may request another card if you would like. You can do this as many times as you would like. 

8. A unique Bingo Card will be issued within one week of sign-up. (I will post a notice if things come up and there is a delay.)

 - You may request up to 4 squares changed, and the request must be within a week.

9. Cheating does not count as poly for this event. For this, the minimum is three people actively and knowingly in a relationship with each other. That said, creations involving cheating are allowed. The cheating just needs to be outside the relationship. 

Examples: 

 - A&B together with C seeing B behind A’s back- NOT poly. 

- A&B together, C&B together with A’s knowledge- poly.

- A&B&C all together - poly

- A&B&C getting together for the first time in any permutation - poly.

10. Don’t repost past work - all work must be new, and created specifically for the event. New chapters and parts of a ‘verse are fine

11. Aro and Ace are allowed. QPR it up if you want.

12. If ao3 allowed it, so do I. Tags, themes, AUs, etc.

Can’t believe I scrolled across this.

Read —> I’m not keeping track of names and correlations with prononcon “discourse,” but it’s known that the sub is very much part/an extension of that community. So I feel it’s a fairly safe bet to assume they’re in with that especially considering the refusal to accept or even receive any sort of feedback or critique. Also, based on what else I’ve seen from people in this sub and the other comments, I have little doubt there wouldn’t be a majority agreement with what this one user is saying.

I’ll get to context later, first addressing it generically.

So I got some thoughts here. Not sure what I expected from a group that goes to war over keeping AO3 comments nothing but positive, but I guess I just keep expecting these people to understand the first rule of artistry which is to handle not only the “good” feedback (obviously a needlessly mean comment is needlessly mean, and that’s not what I’m referring to).

Various art classes have con-crit days which is receiving feedback from classmates (fellow artists) on their work (I think teacher also participates in some). A big thing is not taking other people’s opinions as a personal attack. Even outside of classes, you have to just learn it by experience or via other artists speaking. It’s part of how not to lose your mind being an artist.

Sorta weird some of these people who are all “I’m smarter I’ve been through college etc” don’t understand this simple concept. Reminds me of those big published creators who lose their shit when someone doesn’t kiss their ass tbh.

Also weird how people can say the creators need to stay the fuck away when memes of “lmao if I had a fandom, I’d be a menace and say/do such and such) exists! Why can’t creators enjoy the community and works that exist because they made something!?

What about those panels at cons and signings? That’s participation in fandom, should they all be canceled? Never to happen again?

If a creator doesn’t like what’s being done with their Intellectual Property, why can’t they say so? If they see people misinterpreting a character or erasing one’s sexuality, why can’t they correct that misinfo? Especially when it’s being taken “mainstream?” Hm? You’re offended you’re being corrected (or receiving feedback), but how do you think they feel?

What if they’re disgusted someone’s drawing PORN of their MINOR characters? What? They can’t say they don’t like that?

*Also can’t host/judge any sort of fan content contest or challenge like cosplay or design, etc!

You can’t pitch a fit when someone “hates” on what you write/make, but also exile original creators from having any opinions or comments on what’s done with their IP. You’re excluding yourselves from any and all sort of accountability by saying the creators don’t have any place seeing anything. It’s weird. It’s like anything to avoid anything non-toxically positive.

If any creator came out with something like “fuck yeah fake cp!” You’d throw a fucking party. It’d be all “ah yes THIS is how you react to fandom and interact with us, etc.” (But also ignore cons n things.)

But because with this post, because it seems like the creator shat on fandom, all creators don’t have a right to see their own fandoms?

Context: op’s been writing a fic/fics for a while of a webcomic. Finally a new author came on scene. Then they saw a post from the creator saying approximately (not screencapped), “finally a good fic chat, are we winning?”

To me, that’s just funny meme speak to be happy about having a fandom and actually being ‘that popular,’ especially since we don’t have any other context nor know how often the creator “checked in” on any possible fandom. YES, this could go both ways, the creator could indeed be shitting on the “older” works, but there just not enough info in my opinion to make this conclusion that most others are jumping to.

*If it happened to me, I’d probably try to communicate. It’s so easy to jump to conclusions and spiral. I’d try to dm or otherwise message the creator and say something like “hey. This is how you’re coming off/why I’m feeling put-down, is that what you meant or is there some misunderstanding here?” No reason to self exile from the fandom or get an entire sub to shit on them from the jump.

I gotta digress here; there’s only so much I can take especially when I got certain topics for therapy—But I have therapy soon, so hopefully I’ll get to updating that other post!

baby_pen was probably the singularly most influential artist on me, and it's a bummer that I haven't been able to track whether she's still making art now. I tried to emulate her skinny bishounen style as a t(w)een, and learned digital illustration on Photoshop because of her. Chyldea and Alexe Cinz are runners up in this.

over time, the writers/artists who influenced me were the ones who changed my perceptions of the medium. Fic on Livejournal that used special formatting blew my mind. Humorous fics that weren't purely crack was the biggest eye-opener of perspective/voice in writing. (No shade to crack–one of the few writers I remember from my first go in fandom was Reverand Maynard, who I remember for their ridiculous humor and somehow forgot the PWP part.) Comics or illustration that utilized new/different digital presentations to enhance the reading/viewing experience. Eventually I want to make more immersive/experiential works in a similar vein, and I got a taste of that when I put the Weed Grandpa Cookbook together.

GW is magical in that it inspires people in so many ways - illustration, fic, cosplay, gunpla, moodboards, emojis, memes, metas, etc. I would really love to make a semi-interactive GW project in the vein of Annie96 is Typing... with a cryptographic theme (in the spirit of stuff like Cicada 3301), but that'll have to wait when I'm not 6mos behind on other stuff -_-;

Hiatus Pause: Who Inspired You?

Pausing the hiatus for a moment to ask a question: who inspired your creative works? Fandom especially. I had mentioned in my hiatus post earlier about how much of fandom is about building community (and building even tinier communities within the whole). But a lot is the exchange of ideas too.

Insofar as a writing style is concerned, I feel like I've gravitated towards the works of Stephen King, Justin Cronin, and James S.A. Corey, wherein a character's voice and the dialogue take precedence over general description.

But for my fandom creativity, I can say right away that @persisting inspired my tiny Latino Duo, @danceswithronin inspired the politically empowered Duo, and @alexecinz inspired my "not everything is happily ever after" post-canon imaginings.

A: Belos wanted him to stick around and so he made it happen. As for specifics: *shrugs* your guess is as good as mine! This is something I've preferred to leave up to the readers. I will simply confirm that he isn't hiding any goop powers or OP palisman-given magical abilities. He is, for all intents and purposes, a regular human who is somehow really, really old.

Q: If Caleb is still alive, where did Hunter come from?

A: The full story here hasn't been told yet, but you may notice Caleb is missing quite a few bones...

Q: Caleb's ears are pointed! Did Belos cut them??

A: Correct

Q: Does Caleb know about the Collector/the basilisks/Belos' plans?

A: Probably! He's been Belos' sounding board for 400 years. Access to things that could "further corrupt him" or provide him a tool for escape, however, are off limits, so there are many things, like the Collector, that he's heard about but never seen for himself.

Q: Where's Flapjack/Amity/Darius/etc?

A: This is basically a canon divergence. If you haven't seen a particular character, it's safe to assume for now that they're up to whatever they were doing in canon.

Q: I don't get it. Why is Caleb insane?

A: I suggest you reread the first few story posts, my friend! You have fallen for Belos' lies.

Q: Do you have a posting schedule? When will the next part come out?

A: There is no posting schedule. I draw (mostly but not always) traditionally in my free time, for the fun of telling a cool story, and some posts are longer than others. That means the timing of the next post depends on how long it is, how much time I have, and whether or not I'm at home with access to my scanner. Sometimes this means I post quickly. Sometimes it means you'll see me next month. Sorry about that.

Just know that if I know there's going to be an extended wait, especially one where I'm not actively working on the next drawing, I will make an announcement about it. If you haven't seen an update in a while but I also haven't said anything, it's almost definitely because I'm actively chipping away at a part of the story that's taking me longer.

Q: Why do some of the story posts have a letter after the number? Are these less important than the regular story posts? Can I skip them?

A: No, I Do Not Recommend skipping them! They are just as important as the others. They have a letter on the end because they were added later and I use letters as a way to avoid renumbering everything. If you see story posts labeled something like "3, 3A, 4", they are meant to be read the same as you would if they were "3, 4, 5".

Q: Can I make art/fic/cosplay of this au?

A: Knock yourself out! If you post it somewhere, please include credit, but otherwise I don't mind, and actually love seeing what you do with it! If it's NSFW though, please keep it in appropriate spaces with proper warnings.

Q: Wait there's fic/fanart?? Can I see?

A: Probably, yes. Sometimes it takes me a few days to get to it. long distance javid that starts on tumblr: well-known fan creator edition

jack kelly is a fanartist who starts posting his digital works when he's about 13 and by the time he's 17, he's well known in the fandom he creates for. he gets requests, he does commissions, he uses it as a way to save for college- and also because it's fun and he likes drawing his silly little favorite characters doing their silly little tasks. he has a separate blog for non-fandom pieces (anything from OCs to scans of his traditional paintings, even the odd piece of vent art) and that gets a lot of traction, too. jack kelly rises to Ikimaru/Viria/Burdge level fame on tumblr and its all just this 17 year old Mexican kid with a silly little drawing tablet his foster mom got him as an adoption gift.

david jacobs is a fic writer, and a well-known one at that. he started when he was about 12 and unsupervised, writing really bad Percy Jackson fanfic on wattpad, like any young gay should. his fics started gaining traction and as they did so, his skill became better too; by the time he's 17, he's cracking out chapter fics and fleshing out huge complex AUs. a lot of people follow along for his NaNoWriMo content and original works as well, like his poetry or original fiction pieces, but a LOT of his followers come from his fanfics. his AO3 has at least 85 works and he's one of those people who has thousands of hits on his works bc he's just really good (even if he doesn't think he deserves it). you know how sometimes, you read a fic, and it kind of changes your outlook on life for a bit? davey's the fic writer who creates that. he wants to be in the editing/writing business and he's making it known.

anyway!

jack and dave meeting over tumblr bc theyre in the same fandom. becoming mutuals, constantly rbing each other's stuff, tagging each other in posts, the works. they REALLY start interacting by jack drawing scenes from davey's fics and davey writing little drabbles inspired by jack's fanart, and pretty soon they're kind of Known in the fanon circle- people see one of them, and immediately think of the other.

soon, they start talking about more than just fandom stuff and find out that they're the same age, they like the same stuff, theyve been in the same fandoms for A While and just never put two and two together. and though they live pretty far from each other, their friendship is like. Cemented. they exchange other socials and start video chatting, facetiming, discord voice calls, etc. and are so In Like with each other but also long distance is Scary and Not Ideal and they're both embarrassed to say they met their crush on tumblr anyway so they just ignore it

and this goes on for YEARS. they FINALLY meet up when they both go to a con- as fans, but eventually they'll be vendors (jack for his art and davey for his eventual book series)- and they click instantly. i imagine they do some pretty sick Percy Jackson cosplays, bc i love headcanoning that they both grew up with it, and they have so much fun together. they stay up so late talking about anything and everything, they fall asleep next to each other even though there's another bed in the room, and they both wake up red-faced and awkward bc Wow He Looks Pretty With The Sunrise In His Eyes.

(side note: i imagine they share a hotel room, but Medda and Esther share a room as well, and they become close friends throughout the weekend! these boys aren't completely unsupervised.)

they both part ways- Jack going to New York and Davey going back to Chicago- but their friendship is just that much more important. they talk every day, from junior year of high school to sophomore year of college, and when they FINALLY get together for real, it's at another con. they've both moved onto different fandoms but they're still SO close and just ,, jack, 20, having his first ever booth at a con, and asking davey to come for "moral support" but really he just wants to see him. davey helps him run his booth, helps restock and sell and run the "business" side of things. and when it's less busy, jack beta reads some of davey's new work, but the majority of the time they're just. talking. they stay in the same hotel room that night and it's one of those "i really want to hold him but i don't want to be weird" moments and it's so painfully obvious that they like each other but they're both Really scared of distance

and boom! they kiss in the hotel and the rest is history.

i think ,, davey transferring colleges to be closer to jack, and they move in together once he's For Sure going to school in the city. jack isn't going to school, he's an artist full-time, and his commissions and prints/stickers/mugs/merch/etc. rake in enough to pay the bills, plus with davey's added income from his part time job, they live modestly but comfortably.

once davey graduates, he starts sending his book- one he's been working on and editing and worldbuilding since before he even knew jack- out to editors, and then publishers, and eventually its hitting the shelves in every major bookstore in the country because it's such a hit.

and david gets to brag that his husband drew the cover art.

The overall theme of this weekend is “Unexpectedly in Love”. It’s not meant to be as a prompt, more like something to inspire you to create for this precious rare pair.

Do I have to use all prompts?

No, you can pick only one. Alternative prompts are given just in case the main prompt of the day doesn’t spark joy for you.

Can I combine prompts?

Who is this event for? / I am x/y/z identity/unsure of my identity can I participate?

This event is for anyone who considers themself to be trans, nonbinary or is currently questioning their gender. No matter what particular words you may use to identify, if you don’t consider yourself cis, you count, and we will not be doing any sort of identity policing, the specifics of your identity are your own business.

If you are still uncertain you are more than welcome to send us an ask or a DM. All mods of the event are trans and we know that gender can be a confusing beast.

If you are cis, we welcome you to support the work of trans fans, by reblogging their posts, commenting on their fics, and offering to be a support during the creation process.

What kind of fan works can I do? / Does my fan work have to deal with explicitly trans things?

Any and all fan works are welcome. This includes, fan art, fan fiction, gif sets,  character/ship playlists, fan videos, multi media pieces, textiles/cosplay if you want to get funky, the sky’s the limit.

The prompts will have a gendery aspect to them, however, you don’t have to adhere to the prompts. The amount you want to play with gender in your pieces is entirely up to you and we won’t be placing any restrictions on what sort of trans content is and isn’t allowed. Again, we aren’t here to police your identity or your fan works.

I want to participate but I don’t want my name attached to my work because I’m not out. What can I do?

You can post your fic or art to the Anonymous Ao3 collection, you retain control of the fic/art but it is anonymous until you remove it from the Anon collection.

Here is a tutorial for posting images to Ao3 using third party hosting sites like Imgur. While this was created for The Terror Big Bang, it is a very helpful and thorough tutorial about adding images to fics, or just straight up posting art to Ao3.

Anonymous submission to the Trans Terror Week blog. We have opened submissions, which will allow for fan works to be submitted anonymously with a pseud and an email address if you are logged out of Tumblr. When these post it will attribute to the blog of whichever mod posted the submission and we will note it as an anonymous submission.

What is not allowed?

No cis content creators. As mentioned above, we love your support, but this is not the event for you to participate in. If, somehow, you’re a very new fan and this is the first fandom event you’ve encountered, we would be happy to point you in the direction of another event. I marvel at this fandom’s ability to have events going on nearly all the time.

No policing other participants’ fan works. Every trans person has different experiences and desires for what they want to see in their fiction. We will not be restricting what is and isn’t allowed. Do not ask us to.

It took two lifetimes before Serenity and Endymion could finally say "forever" to each other, but his fate had been sealed long ago, the day a princess from the moon gazed upon the Earth and fell in love with him.

I also want to share some of my thoughts behind this piece. Read on if you are interested in author commentary (hidden below the jump because it's kind of long).

This fic began with a relatively simple idea—I wanted a definitive transition of some kind for when Endymion gained the extended lifespan of the Silver Millennium Royal Family. Traitorous as it feels, I happen to agree with the Black Moon Clan's sentiment that such longevity is unnatural for humans, at least in their current state, and so I didn't like the idea that Endymion just stopped aging one day and went about his business as usual for the next thousand years exactly as he is. Along with societal implications (what would retirement age be?), there is some psychological evolution that needs to happen for people to live that long without going insane.

I also didn't like how that longevity was kind of a throwaway detail in the canon, seeming to serve no purpose other than to let our OTP miracle romance it up in an Elysium-esque mineral utopia without having to be dead. It's more common for immortality/extreme longevity to have a sad or sinister tone whenever it does appear in fiction. If only select individuals have it, loss is usually part of the story—loss of those they outlive, or loss of themselves if they went through some kind of transformation (usually into something Other) in order to gain it.

If a whole population is immortal or long-lived, they are usually framed as "superior" in some way to those with normal lifespans—think Greek gods f*cking with mortals all the time, or cosmic beings trying to keep the human race from destroying themselves as a sign of their immense benevolence. Benevolent or not, these populations usually possess some degree of aloofness or empathetic disconnect from the lesser population. That's not to say they are un-empathetic, but just by virtue of being other, they can't fully identify with the lesser population.

Speak of Greek gods, I leaned into the inspiration behind Serenity and Endymion's names—the myth of Selene, goddess of the moon, who loved the mortal man Endymion. Usagi's various forms are pretty explicitly depicted (and named) as a goddess/Savior/Messiah figure, and that goddess/mortal dynamic reminded me of the significant power imbalance that exists between Usagi and Mamoru for most of the series.

Combined with Mamoru's utter devotion to her, which goes unquestioned, it started to take on a darker light. What if, because of that power imbalance and her goddess nature, he was never free to choose otherwise once she had chosen him? To be sure, their love is sincere, but it has taken him completely, and now he is bound forever. (Insert intelligent mumblings about free will, etc., here.)

I've also borrowed some ideas from Christianity, namely the part where Mamoru only has to accept Serenity's love to be one with her, and that in doing so, he will be made like her, e.g. "in Her image." (Note: I have a layman's Wikipedia understanding of such things. I am not and do not claim to be an expert on religion.)

So...yeah. I don't know if what resulted from all that was a confusing, bland mess, or a fic that gave adequate weight and an angsty edge to that throwaway longevity that really should be a big deal.

Write Off: Also sometimes called writing sprints, essentially a group of people agree to write for a set period of time (like 15 mins or 1hr), sometimes with a set prompt, others just as a way to kick your butt in gear and get that wip work done! After the time is up, you can share a sample of what you wrote and ask for feedback, if you’d like. If you don't write but create any other type of content, you're free to participate too!

Character Appreciation: We'll have a week dedicated to content for a specific character! If you have a certain character you'd want to be featured, let us know.

Trope/Ship Week: Similar to character appreciation, we might instead have a week dedicated to a specific trope or ship. If there's a specific trope of ship you'd want featured, feel free to let us know.

Q: Do I have to ship {ship} in order to participate?

A: While some events may be focused on shipping or a particular ship, we want to include everyone as much as possible, so even if you don’t like a particular ship or don’t ship at all, you can still participate! Q: How does your tagging system work?
