End of the Year 2019

How is it the end of the year already?! It feels like yesterday when I took the pictures from the first row. Looking back at 2019, it was a weird year for me. I’ve had some of the best of times and some of the worst of times. My self-esteem was at its highest and at its lowest too. And when I think of all that has happened, this year feels both too short and too long at the same time. I’ve achieved and ruined so much.

You guys have seen a lot here, and as always, we are going to look back at it. You can check the posts for 2016 here, 2017 here and 2018 here and here. I will be doing a separate post for my favourite non-story pictures later, because there’s been a lot of them too. WHAT AM I DOING WITH MY LIFE. I mean, bold of you to assume I’ll stop.

January: We started off by finishing the rose generation, which was one wild ride that I enjoyed a lot. Not pictured: the very unexpected birth of Lucian and Ross’s transformation into a vampire. I thought that’s where the story would end. I thought I’d move to the next generation and he’d be just a side character that shows up sometimes because well, he has to. Family and all that. As we all know, he’s still stealing the spotlight and not always in a...good way. But we’ll get there.

February: Gen 6. I still think Kayla is my cutest irrelevant spare. Well, a spare’s kid. The first fire accident. This one ended well, Adam saved himself. And that last picture...I don’t know, I just love when ghosts show up on the lot at night, okay. And ghost!Tyler is a whole mood.

March: Regaaaaan ♥ Quads’ storylines. The second fire accident. This one didn’t end well, but I was weak and quit without saving. I mean, I was also in the middle of a storyline. If Miracle had suddenly dropped dead, I would have had to rewrite everything, and I wasn’t into that.

April: Quads aged up and their storylines more or less wrapped up. I think we’ll be seeing less of them when the legacy comes back. We can only hope StoryProgression will be nice to them. Will and Roan though. Oh my god, these two. They weren’t supposed to do much but they played quite a role in a later storyline. I love them. Their storyline is definitely my most favourite out of all quads’ storylines. And finally, Regan leaves for Isla Paradiso.

May: Courtney and Felix got married and you still haven’t seen their baby. Whoops. Regan made friends in Isla Paradiso. I love George and Lou with my entire heart. Oh and of course, she made more than just friends there. Shit’s about to go down.

June: Shit really went down but I had so much fun working on this storyline. Just...give me strong emotions to work with and I’ll go wild. At the end of the month, I finally started posting my BPR. Did I tell you that it started off as a bitter joke? Which is ironic because they’re berry sweet sims. Okay, that wasn’t funny at all, I’m sorry.

July: More BPR. Gen 1 was quite uneventful and boring, I know, but just you wait for gen 2. It’s been done in true simmeronnie fashion, your favs aliens and fires may or may not return but you didn’t hear that from me. Anyway, yeah. Eden. Just like Ross, he’s another sim that starts off as an ass who refuses to take care of his child but then as the time goes, he changes for the better and long story short at the moment I love him even though he’s still a dick sometimes. Like when he refuses proposals. But you didn’t hear that from me either. Next up we have Gwyneth and Vanessa. I’ve said this before but Vanessa...she’s a good match for Gwyn and I’m happy they’re together, but there’s something about her that I just don’t like. For example, why the hell can’t you let go, Vanessa. Why do you have to keep holding those grudges. (says the person who holds a million irrational grudges too but ok go off ron maybe the reason why you don’t like that is because you see yourself in that) Oh and yeah, even though they’re not my favourite couple and I don’t even like one of them, they have the cutest proposal pics I’ve ever taken. Period.

August: More BPR. At this point there have been less alien jokes so they decided to come back to remind us they still exist and they still want to be my brand. Sorry my dudes, that’s probably not happening again. Oh. I started posting my BC in August. I’ll post the rest too, I promise. I’m actually almost done, I need to finish the last episode. Soon, hopefully. But yeah, BC will return. And more BPR...I love Roxanne. She’s a lot like me. She writes weird stories about aliens, likes her characters more than real people and sometimes eats weird shit for breakfast. (let’s just say my eating habits have become quite interesting ever since I moved to a dorm...)

September: Oh god, this rivalry between Eden and Vanessa...well, it’s not even a rivalry, Vanessa just hates him. “You weren’t nice to my wife? Cancelled, and no I don’t care that you’re making up for it now.” Magnolia is my favourite evil sim and I love this alliance her younger siblings have formed against her haha.

October: The moment you’ve been waiting for, NSB is back! Ross keeps wanting to hang out with Sunset, which makes me cry because it shows how far he’s come. Sunset and Dawn...when I was playing the yellow gen, I wasn’t even into them as much as I am into them now. They’re finally getting the development they deserve through the ask games. They’re the soft adorable couple that I need to balance out the overdramatic mess that said no to happily ever after...amirite Ross and Caleb? Not that it’s their fault that their happily ever after was just temporary but shhh.

November: Crystal and Claudia are born. I love these girls so much. Claudia reminds me of her grandfather in some way and because of that I’m kinda scared of what her generation will be like, but also I can’t wait to play it haha. Grandpa!Ross is a thing I didn’t know I needed. Oh and would you look at that, another fire accident.

December: This month started nicely, right? Sunset and Dawn got married...and then...then my worst fuckup of 2019 (second worst actually but we won’t be getting into the first one) happened. I didn’t include a picture of that because we don’t need to be reminded of that, do we? Instead, there’s a picture of when things were alright again. I love these two boys ;-; Please make sure they’re safe from me. I don’t care what it takes, just make sure nothing happens to them again. My heart wouldn’t take it. (says the person whose first reaction to seeing that Ross is dying was hysterical laughter but again go off sis) And finally, the family is moving into a new house. Which reminds me, I should put the old small one on the gallery. Will do that.

Gen 1 Retrospective (The lost generation)

So back when I started this challenge, I was on a different computer, I didn’t have reshade, I had no idea how to pose sims, and the entire concept of taking photos alongside playing baffled me. But then I got reshade...and then I figured out how to pose.  So by the time gen 1 was just about to move onto gen 2, I was dipping my toe in the storytelling thing.  Also the difference is wild.

I consider this to be my first real BPR post.  I did put up a few photos from the tail end of gen 1, but this was the first pose that turned out the way I wanted.

I completed a NSB last year and it was the most fun I’d ever had with my game because of all the colours involved, so that was my berry gateway drug.  That and some really good BPR stories made me want to try the challenge for myself.  

But basically the whole thing should have been completely different.  First of all, Morning Star was my third attempt at a BPR founder.  I previously had a played through gen 1 arc, and then Neige was gonna be my founder with the whole Snow family as a backdrop, but I got bored of both those saves.   

I originally didn’t make Morning’s parents.  I figured I kept getting bored trying to play through the traditional rebellious teenager runs away from home thing, so I just decided to skip it.  The parents you see in the story I went back and created from her genetics...but she did always have a sister.  

I played through as Morning for a while, mostly just focusing on the goals of the challenge.  I dropped Rhubarb in and made him a cop.  They actually did meet when he wandered past her house one day.  So the thing about Rhubarb is that he was hot-headed.  He yelled a lot - but never at Morning.  So she was always completely smitten with him and I felt extremely guilty about breaking up their marriage.  The original plan was going to be that they married too young, had too many kids too fast and then got divorced when Morning met someone who she had more in common with.  But they were always just so devoted to each other I couldn’t break them up, plus Rhubarb was a shockingly good dad despite his inability to keep a dollhouse in one piece.  

I used to make Morning work on her creativity skill at the art centre so she wouldn’t be trying to keep up with her toddlers’ needs.  By this point she had three kids, and then Orion appeared and started randomly talking to her while she painted, and I just kinda...deleted the door.  I sort of made them keep talking until they fell in love.  Then Morning and Rhubarb went out to a dance party, Rhubarb just flipped out at the bartender out of nowhere, which did piss Morning off.  So I had her go over to Orion’s place to give me that purple baby.  

Aurora and Autumn were my two picks for heir this generation, and they both originally had different names.  

Yeah.  Autumn was originally going to be Winter but then pulled the red hair and I ended up not liking the name for her.  Aurora was going to be Venus but when she aged up to a kid I decided it didn’t fit her.  I do this kinda a lot where I try out names and then change them if I feel they don’t fit.  But Rory was seriously this close to being Venus.  I don’t think Autumn was Winter for more than like, a day.  

Autumn was also originally going to be the heir, but then Rory just kept getting more interesting to me.  She picked up Rosebud and Posey as friends all on her own, she independently started practicing the writing skill, she and Autumn started getting into fights.  Plus there was the matter of Autumn looking like Morning’s clone.  So I let Autumn keep her original traits which I felt were intrinsically hers at this point (she’d been a vegetarian since she was a child and was always a jerk about it).  

This generation was more about gameplay and each subsequent generation has become more and more storytelling and pose focused.  I really enjoyed playing this gen and I’m planning on doing more gameplay in the upcoming generations.  I took this opportunity to go back and give some small makeovers to the original family, which was super fun.  I’m going to be posting some of the missing scenes I shot with them later today or later this week.

1, 3, 4 for Twinkles and Maples? Love you!

1. When have you started your legacy? What inspired you to do it?

With the Twinkles, I’ve wanted to do a BPR from the beginning. I remember a few days before the challenge came out, I started the Glitter rainbowcy and someone asked me about the concept of rainbowcies, and Berry replied with some explanations. Then, a couple days later, she posted a BPR challenge to put all the guidelines together, and I’m not sure whether I was indirectly responsible for it, but I got very excited and was like “aw damn, shame I already have a rainbowcy going on”. Eventually though, I got bored of the Glitters and decided to finally give BPR a try. I didn’t expect much, because I had a lot of saves back then and it was just an additional one to play from time to time, so I didn’t grow to love the Twinkles straight away, but later I decided to combine them with none other than the Glitters, and they became much more fun! Now they’re my favourite legacy (and looks like it’s follower favourite as well, according to my polls)

As for the Maples, also simple: I found the LEPacy challenge interesting and very good for storytelling, as the expansions could serve as inspiration for creating plots for each generation. I didn’t want to make a completely new sim for it, so I used one of my BC sims, Marnie. I’m moving slowly with them and right now I honestly lack inspiration, but never say never. I made Zain and Christine’s child in CAS and she’s stunning!

A lookback at 2018

I’ve been on Tumblr for almost a year now. Wow. It does and doesn’t feel that long at the same time. Very weird concept. I used the mega editor to take a quick look at the overview of my blog and wrote down any memorable moments that stood out to me :)

This was more for myself than anyone else, but maybe you all will find it interesting too.

Feb: I started my blog in February of this year. I had never used Tumblr before then. I had no idea what I was doing and mostly just posted a lot of weird edits.

March: I think this is when I found other simblrs telling stories with their sims and I really wanted to try that out too. I posted Vanille’s intro and tried and failed with the Ice Cream Simdae and BPR that month.. quit them both and deleted the posts... wish I hadn’t now lol..... I also started sim requests and got 6 that month (by the way sim requests are pretty much always open). The tail end of March is when I hit 100 followers, which is still CRAZY to me to even think.

April: More sim requests. A couple that were on Tumblr that on it that persons game <333333. Sienna for @jelizabethmarieb and Orpheus for @seraphinabelle! Also “doot doot” anon was a thing. I requested my first sim from @seraphinabelle, who will still be around a little once I get back to my Musique Des Sims. It was my birthday, I posted my face for the first time, and I hit 200 followers (CRAZINESS)

May: May is when I really kicked it into gear when I started my 100 baby challenge. I don’t think I’ve missed a day by accident since I started posting it. I think. It has been a real blast playing with this colorful family. We’re on gen 3 and honestly, I haven’t gotten sick of it. Some of my favorite sims have come out of this challenge.

Made a request for Porter from @berrybloomsims, who also will show up in Musique Des Sims for a brief period. Introduced you guys to Quartz, the founder for Musique Des Sims and started it. Didn’t get very far though before I put it on hiatus.

June: A few sim requests here and there. Continued on with the 100 baby, started gen 2 in fact, my cat had kittens irl (we ended up keeping 2 of them), @berryconfetti started my challenge, and I started my Seasons of Gnomes challenge. And to kick it all off, I hit 400 followers! I think I must have been busy around the 300 mark and by the time I had time to make anything, I was close to 4 anyway so I waited.

July: 100 baby challenge still going strong, Seasons of Gnomes was continued. I put up a post asking for spouses for the 100 baby challenge (still waiting on those btw @grassamere @samssims xD for real tho, no rush you still have a lot of time <3). @27ccfinds made me made me a cute edit of what used to be my side blog for Big Sister/Runaway Teen! Still can’t believe that, how sweet! <3 I made Cleo and entered her in @ashleysimmer11 ‘s Next Top Model! Hard to believe she’s in the top two! :D and then Ashley binge read my 100 baby challenge xD

August: 100 baby and Seasons of Gnomes still going strong, which is surprising for me, my kitties were growing up, posted my ballerina edit which I still love, had my second binge reader @princesspeach9090, and had my first wedding anniversary <3

September: Still posting 100 baby and Seasons of Gnomes! Go me! I made this sim just for fun and ended up re-purposing an old side blog for a game play based Not So Berry. @jelizabethmarieb made her spouse! Ashley made me pick a favorite Macaroon child. Aaaaand I made a Fall look book for 600 followers, using my gen 2 NSB heir for the model.

October: I participated in Simblreen for the first time. Oh boy, it was fun, but stressful. So. Many. Asks. I made 3 different treats and did it all weekend. (1 2 3). We were just about done with gen 2 for the 100 baby challenge, and gen 2 was in full swing for Seasons of Gnomes uuuntil it went on hiatus that month. I released some of my simmies into the world for my 700 follower milestone.

November: Gen 3 of 100 baby started, Cleo made it into the top 3 of Next Top Model, and I started my Rags To Riches, which you all seem to be liking a lot.

December: Buckle up, I did quite a bit this month xD

- Started my Youtube channel back up and got 20 subs on it! Woop! <3

- Participated in the “log off protest”

- Started a new project with @little-sims

- Started preparing more for gen 2 of my NSB

- Made a cute Poppy and Neptune edit

- Made some of the cutest random sims ever, which will be used for something later on in 2019

- CLEO MADE IT TO TOP TWOOO!

- Took one of the cutest screenshots I’ve ever taken.

- Made a new side blog for my story based saves! Which you all helped name :)

- Got the ABSOLUTE CUTEST anon message ever

- Submitted a name for @purpleleopard96 ‘s bachelorette challenge

I have had the BEST time on here this year. Sure, it’s got some drama, but what community doesn’t, especially online, but I’ve made some people I call friends on here.

I’ve started and ended a lot of projects. I’ve managed to keep my 100 baby challenge going without getting bored of it once which is a feat in itself. I hope to continue this for a long time to come. New BPR, possibly 2 actually, one story based, one game play based, Seasons of Gnomes, and Musique Des Sims to come over on the new blog starting sometime in Jan! I finally got most of the character page done for my BPR so I can start shooting it soon.

But at the same time, my posting will probably have to slow down again because I’m going to be trying to get a job soon not looking forward to that AT ALL

But yeah, thanks for sticking around with me and reading my stuff. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do making it. And if you made it this far, you are an ANGEL and I love you!

Wanna hear a secret? Those last screenshots of gen 6 are from March and I haven’t opened the save since. *le gasp* But I figured, since it’s officially over now on the blog too, I should go on with gen 6, at least a little bit. So today, I guess, I will spend the evening by moving everyone to a new save and setting things up. Partially why I decided to make it that Regan should move away from Sunset Valley was because this save is awful. It takes over an hour to load, it’s slow and it crashes way more than any other of my saves. Besides, I think I’m over this Sunset Valley nostalgia. Before I had a simblr, I always played either in Sunset Valley or Moonlight Falls, and I wanted to remember those times. But now I’m tired of SV again. Any guesses where we’ll be going? I won’t confirm or deny anything, also it might not be as exciting as you might think. And no, it’s not Moonlight Falls.

So yeah, Roses will go on a break now. Tomorrow, I have something that you’ve been waiting for planned. Keep your eyes on my blog. And then...

This summer belongs to BPR. Finally! I’ve been playing that save for almost a year now and you haven’t seen anything. Well, to be fair, saying I’ve been playing it for a year is a lie - I played it last summer, then stopped in September and picked it up again this March. I didn’t touch it for months. But I gave it a chance again and decided to continue. Gen 1 is kinda meh but I love my gen 2 heir. She’s a mess. (which is what I say about all my favourite sims because guess what, I have a type or something)

I don’t know how long that will run, it’ll be interrupted a few times by the thing that I’ll officially start tomorrow, but when gen 1 of BPR is posted, I’ll switch back to TS4 again. It’s been a while since you’ve last seen Sunset and Dawn, huh? And Ross and Caleb...though they’re not around as much anymore because it’s not their generation, but they’re still really fun when they appear. Ross almost made my cry the last time I played. No spoilers or anything.

TL;DR: Haven’t played Roses for months, will fix that. Keep your eyes on my blog tomorrow. BPR will start posting after that. Then I’ll post NSB. Happy summer y’all. <3

Oh, and I almost forgot: I didn’t include the “congrats” comments in this post but you guys, I want you to know that I saw them and honestly, thank you very much. I’m panicking a little when I realize that in a few months, I’ll be living in Prague. Crazy.

A moment of appreciation for Will: He went from being my least favourite spare to a spare with huge potential to a spare who saved the entire legacy. We want this generation to end on a happy note, right? And having the heir enslaved by a mermaid doesn’t sound like a happy note to me.

Ahh, I wish I could go back to purple! Blonde sounds fun too (especially for me because I have the most boring brown hair in the world), but after I had awful blonde streaks when I was fifteen, I’m scared to give that colour one more try haha. Then again, maybe if I went fully blonde, it would be better than just streaks.

Aww Regan it wasn't your fault! To think of it, the only mistake she made was trusting Nerine too much...

Exactly. And even when she saw Nerine wasn’t perfect and had some bad personality traits, she still ignored that because she loved her that much. On another hand, are we really surprised Regan let that all happen? It was her first love that worked out somehow.

1. Which is your favorite Sims Expansion?

Since everyone who knows me knows I’m a time travel addict, it’s definitely Into the Future! On a related note, April is the month when I have the strongest feelings about this stuff, because in 2016 I first watched BTTF (and was binging the first two seasons of Doctor Who along with that), in 2017 I rewatched it and started writing Futuristic Lover reboot and it was awesome, and in 2018 I found the BTTF Telltale game playthroughs and got addicted to watching them because they literally take place after the third movie and are just like the fourth part. The point is, somehow every year all that happened in April. Perhaps another rewatch of the movies or the game playthroughs soon? God knows, I barely have time but my heart just craves it.

4. How would you describe your gameplay?

I enjoy all kinds of colourful stuff! The lack of customisation is partly why I can’t play ts4 for long. I just like vibrant colours and seeing different combinations. I’d also call my gameplay mainly story-driven but with some fun outtakes and bloopers.

5. What made you want to create a simblr?

16. Do you prefer small or large Sim houses?

I prefer large ones! I quickly get bored with small houses because every area is explored sooner or later and I just want something new. The Twinkle house, for one, is huge and there are still some rooms where I and my sims never go, so I could save them for later scenes.

20. What is your favorite skill to level up?

Hmm… That’s tough. I don’t often work on skills because I’m too lazy to do it. Sometimes I do, though – like I was leveling up Claret’s martial arts skill in China, it really intrigued me. Or I made Lavi max her writing and painting skills as BPR rules state (I keep forgetting I’m still not done with that).

Re: Future of the Maples

Today, in reply to the ask, I said I currently play two legacies: Twinkles and Maples. But I've been thinking about the latter for a while now, and kind of came to conclusion it would be best for me, my health and my organizational skills to wrap them up at least for now (I won’t exclude the possibility of bringing them back someday, you never know). The main reasons are: 

1) I thought the lepacy would be just right for me, but later I realised the gameplay/organizational part, e.g. completing these ltws, moving towns etc. just stresses me out when I think about it;  2) I've been planning a story for the kids, and I can’t give it up because it turned out rather promising (besides, simple gameplay without anything going on would quickly bore me), but I understood it's a huge pressure as well, because I'm already doing a sort of story for Lavender along with planning some plots for the future Twinkles. I can't do everything at once because it creates a mess in my head, so it would make sense to give up the most complicated one. I promised myself my storylines will be rather simple from now on, because otherwise they’d take me forever and I’ll never finish them. I love writing stories, but the sims aspect of it, especially when your preferred game is sims 3... you get me.  3) I hoped otherwise, but I think one legacy is just enough for me. I'm in my last year of studies, working, and dealing with other issues which require me to go outside more often and take care of myself, so I can't let myself to be drowning in the sims. Besides, I'm noticing that I'm much more inspired for my berries, because I absolutely love the BPR challenge and it's my first berry legacy that I'm invested in. Every rare spare minute I have for simming, I jump into the Twinkle save, or in cas to create the future heirs and spouses. So I guess I'm becoming a full-time berry simblr :D 

I really didn’t want to do this, because Marnie and Beth are awesome, and so are their children. I've got a whole multiverse with Chris and Curtis in my head, they have friends who are the sims that appeared in my past projects and some new characters, and they both already have spouses, so there's a chance in the future I'll set up some save with them all (a-la these AUs I used to do for the Fletchers), but it will be solely for fun. Thanks for reading, and expect a lot of Twinkles because that’s where my heart belongs right now!

tl;dr: the Maples go on indefinite hiatus because I have trouble running more than one legacy at once, but Chris, Curtis and their friends might become a part of a fun save. The Twinkles will be my main legacy and I’ll be posting them most of the time.
