tbf though i do think nai'o genuinely likes working on the farm and that's a big reason why he doesn't understand auni! he thinks auni is just being influenced by other people like hassian and najuma and one day he'll realize he likes farming. meanwhile, auni is trying to explain to him that he's never wanted farming to be his path. nai'o loves farming, he just needs to learn how to pace himself and not do everything for everyone yknow?

but it's so interesting too because hassian respects majiri culture a lot and is actively continuing his apprenticeship under his mother despite their issues and him not wanting to be a blacksmith. maybe auni even sees that as something to be aspire to... living his own life and adventuring while also sticking to the family path... OUGH all these characters make me cry :')

ohhmmyygooood im so stupid i literally just realized that a big reason auni likes hanging out with hassian (besides tau lol and hassian genuinely being good with kids) is cause hassian is literally doing what auni wants to do! he's living out in nature, exploring, "going on adventures", and meeting new, mysterious people!! auni must think he's so cool dude :')
