“steve uses the harrington charm” this, “steve uses all his typical flirting playbook moves” that, give me a steve who assumes that since he’s crushing on eddie, who’s a guy, he has to use moves that girls usually use on guys in order to get eddie to recognize that he’s flirting.
give me steve thinking that since eddie isn’t a girl, all the usual flirting he does won’t work, so he assumes he should use the moves girls he’s dated have used on him instead. give me steve tilting his head and batting his eyelashes and asking a very perplexed eddie to explain something about cars or sports since “guys are just so smart about this stuff.” give me steve playing up being cold until eddie gives him his jacket, give me steve feeling up eddie’s biceps and going “wow, you must work out a lot. oh, you don’t? could’ve fooled me, your muscles are, like, so big.” give me eddie being so bewildered because steve keeps laughing at jokes that probably aren’t as funny as he’s making them out to be, or eddie being perplexed by steve twirling his hair or smiling coyly while trailing his fingers over the tattoo on eddie’s forearm.
just steve absolutely laying on the moves, but they’re not his usual moves. robin is incredibly amused and has resigned herself to eventually explaining that the gender of the person steve’s flirting with doesn’t necessarily have to change his approach (only once the comedy of the situation dies down, of course). eddie is utterly bewildered, because other than this, steve is acting totally normal.

Steve likes to watch youtube videos of a guy who restores old consoles. It soothing to him, it relaxes him. He likes watching how he restores them, fixes them, makes them look brand new.
He also enjoys watching him work for… other reasons. Weirdly, he thinks the guy is kind of hot, even if he never shows his face. He looks fit, with the way his shirts stretch over his chest and are loose on his tiny waist and he’s always wearing cool belts, black leather with studs or chains. He likes the way he moves around, manic and a little clumsy but incredibly precise when necessary.
Steve especially likes watching his hands, thick strong fingers, bony wrists, noticeable veins, and short clean nails that sometimes have chipped black polish adorning them.
He sometimes thinks about those hands when he's alone, but, well… no one needs to know about that.
🎮🤲💖
Eddie has a fairly popular youtube channel… And a huge crush on his next-door neighbor. He simply cannot decide if the dude is cutter than hot or vice-versa.
'He sure is nice, though,' he thinks, when one day he gets a large package of replacement parts that he’s struggling to get inside and the guy walks up to him, asks if he needs any help, and takes the heaviest box with no effort at all.
He says his name is Steve and then stares at Eddie's hand for a really long time when Eddie extends it for him to shake after getting the boxes inside his studio.
He hears Steve’s little 'oh', under his breath and then sees him blush prettily before mumbling ‘He needs to go, now.' And stumbling out of Eddie’s place.
Eddie chuckles to himself as he watches him leave, definitely cute AND hot in equal parts.
🎮🤲💖
A few weeks later Steve's mom tells him she needs help getting rid of some of his nonno's old things and he finds a LOT of cool stuff that look just like the ones Eddie restores on his channel.
He and Eddie have been slowly getting friendlier over these last couple of weeks and he’s been dying to have an excuse to talk to him more, so he takes the items home and then goes to Eddie's and very nervously tries to offer them to him but doesn't know how to explain he knows he's a youtuber without looking like a weirdo because Eddie’s never shown his face.
He stumbles and blushes a lot, barely making any sense and Eddie mistakenly thinks he's trying to ask him out and says,
"I'd love to go on a date with you," Smiling and hiding his dimples behind a lock of hair he's been playing with since the moment Steve started stuttering.
Steve completely forgets what he was trying to say or do and says he'll pick him out at 6.
The date is amazing, it feels like they are meant to be. They get along so well, talking, laughing, and already making fun of each other as if they’re old friends. And they are definitely attracted to one another. If the way Eddie practically tackles Steve with his rush to get his mouth on him when they get back, it’s any indication.
Steve is very on board with this and he enthusiastically kisses him back. They kiss desperately as he fumbles with his door handle to get it open. When he succeeds, he walks them backward into his place not wanting to stop kissing Eddie, but stumbles and falls flat on his ass.
When Eddie turns on the light he sees Steve sprawled on top of a bunch of boxes full of old technology. A lot of emotions go through his face, ‘he’s so expressive’ Steve thinks a little enamored, having still not realized how much trouble he’s in.
But Eddie looks confused, then shocked and scared, and finally, angry,
"Steve, what the fuck?"
‘Oh, shit…’
“I can explain!” he says immediately, standing up and walking toward Eddie as he backs away,
“I didn’t want to ask you out-” Steve starts but interrupts himself when Eddie huffs, turns, and starts walking towards his own apartment, “Shit, fuck! No- That’s not what I meant, Eddie! Wait-”
He turns again and glares at Steve but then his eyes go wide, “Steve,”
“Please, let me explain-”
“Steve-”
“I did- do! Want to ask you out! I like yo-”
“Steve!” Eddie screams and Steve stops, shocked, and finally focuses. Eddie is staring at him and he’s so pale even his freckles have changed color. But no, wait. He’s not staring at him, he’s staring at his arm and Steve looks down to see… a lot of blood.
“Oh,” he says faintly. He must have cut himself on a sharp edge when he fell. Too worried about Eddie, he hadn’t even noticed the pain, but now that he’s seeing the cut, it fucking hurts.
“Oh,” he says again, realizing he’s feeling kind of dizzy, ‘that's way too much blood,’ he thinks.
“Jesus Christ!” Eddie huffs, takes off his flannel shirt and wrapping it around Steve's arm, he pulls Steve by his other hand toward his van.
“Oh no, your cute shirt,” he mumbles and hears Eddie snort before he slams the door of the passenger seat and goes to the driver’s one.
They go to the hospital in silence. It's tense. Steve tries to explain himself but Eddie shuts him up harshly, tells him to save his energy.
Even so, when they get there, Eddie still holds him gently by his good arm as he helps him inside. He tells the nurse what happened because Steve is having a hard time focusing right now and then tells him he’ll wait outside for him.
He gets stitches and a tetanus shot just in case because he doesn't remember when was the last time he got one and gets weird looks when he refuses painkillers, but no arguments. He’s given a little juice box and is told he can't get up until he finishes it.
A few seconds after the nurse leaves, the door opens and Eddie walks in. Steve looks up and smiles at him, but Eddie doesn’t smile back and Steve shrinks a little on himself.
Eddie sits on the chair facing the overbed table Steve is perched on and sighs, moving his hand in little circles motioning like, ‘Well go on. Explain yourself’
Steve looks around the room and thinks about where to start. He can't look Eddie in the eye, so he stares at the little juice box in his hands. It's got a cartoon orange in the front. The drawing it’s awful and kind of scary.
Taking a deep breath, he starts, “I've been watching your videos for a long time now. I have- I am- I-”
He fumbles for what to say, even if this date is already ruined…it's not exactly a good first date topic, is it? How fucked up he’s inside.
In a flash, images of his father’s violence, running from home with his mom, going to live with his nonno, taking care of him as he slowly lost his mind with age while his mom worked her ass off to feed them, getting cheated on, losing his “friends” because he didn't want to bully freshmen, working as a babysitter and getting almost beat up to death by his kid’s stepbrother… he shakes his head and shrugs,
“I've been through some…stuff” is what he says in the end, looking up at Eddie. He doesn't look mad anymore, his expressive eyes look concerned. Steve worries about what was it Eddie saw in his own expression, but it surprises him how easily he read him. He’s usually so good at hiding it.
He breathes in again and keeps going, “Your videos, they calm me down when I've, sometimes I get anxious and-” he clears his throat, again, not wanting to tell Eddie about the panic attacks, the nightmares.
But it seems he doesn't have to, Eddie looks at him like he gets it.
It makes Steve want to keep talking, “Watching you work, seeing you fix things, leave them like new, no sca- marks, no problems, just working again and beautifully clean. It makes me feel better.”
Eddie gives him a small smile and Steve returns it, “I really like your hands…” he blurts out and then closes his mouth quickly, blushing furiously.
Eddie’s eyes go wide and then he smirks and stands up slowly walking up to him and taking Steve’s hands on his own, they both stare at their joined hands for a while, the touch feather-like and soft.
“You recognized me because of my hands?” Eddie asks him a little incredulous.
Steve giggles, “I saw the logo for your channel on your studio that day I helped you with the boxes,” he clarifies sheepishly.
Eddie blushes and opens his mouth in a silent ‘oh,’
Steve draws small circles on Eddie's knuckles with his thumbs, “When I came over today, I was just trying to offer you those stuff at my place, they were my grandfather's” he explains, “I didn’t know how to say I knew who you were without looking like a weirdo and I got nervous and you thought I was going to ask you out and I wasn’t planning to but you are so beautiful I-
Eddie kisses his cheek and Steve shuts up and looks at him surprised,
“I’m sorry I freaked out,” Eddie says, “I thought- I don’t know what I thought- I was just upset you didn’t actually like me.”
And Steve immediately answers, “I like you” a little too excitedly.
Eddie smiles at him so warmly it makes his heart rate pick up, “Good. I like you too.”
He blushes and looks down at their hands again unsure, “Do you really? Even tho I’m…”
“What?” Eddie asks, squeezing his hands reassuringly.
“Broken?” Steve whispers.
Eddie hums and drops his hands to hold his face, “Not broken, baby” he says lovingly and kisses the crease between Steve’s brows, the top of his eyelid, his nose, and the corner of his mouth. Then hugs him and Steve buries his face on Eddie's neck, and breathes him in.
A minute goes by or an hour, Steve is not sure, and Eddie leans back enough to kiss him again softly and whispers, “Some things don't need to be fixed Steve, just held.”

Steve lowkey earning himself a reputation for liking guys and girls before he even realizes he does because he keeps interjecting and giving his own answer every time someone tries to ask Robin about guys
At first no one thinks anything of Steve’s interruption and answer when Nancy asks “what even is your type?” quite clearly to Robin and Steve immediately answers “I like girls that are way smarter than me” and everyone just assumes he’s interrupting to hit on Nancy and not to deflect
Then later someone insists some guy was flirting with Robin and she should go for it and Steve immediately goes “Are you kidding me? Robin’s way out of his league. Besides, I had a class with him and he mentioned his stamp collection in it like eight times. Do you really think she wants to sit around and pretend to be impressed by hundreds of stamps?” Still no one thinks much of it yet and if anything they think Steve might be jealous or might just have standards for who they should set her up with
It’s not until it becomes a habit of him answering questions meant for Robin that people start to think there’s a reason, but it’s not Robin they’re onto
Like when they’re having a movie night and Max is going on and on about a shirtless character while Lucas is totally unfazed but Dustin complains and El says which character she liked more and then Max turns to Nancy to break the tie and say which guy is dreamier and Nancy casts her vote, then turns to look over at Robin and ask which guy she’d go for and Steve knows who the question is for but hey he’s sitting right next to Robin so Nancy’s looking in his direction and too and she didn’t say Robin’s name, so Steve doesn’t even hesitate before dropping the name of a character and making sure he keeps the focus off of Robin and keeps everyone distracted from dragging her into that debate by immediately backing it up by saying that Max is right and giving even more reasons to choose him
But even after that, that’s mostly forgotten by the time the older group is drinking and Eddie suggests they play a drinking game and normally Steve would be all over any suggestions, but he turns down truth or dare because he knows how uncomfortable Robin would be and doesn’t want her having to choose between awkwardly lying and deflecting or doing dares she’s not comfortable with or potentially outing herself so he at least manages to change it to never have I ever because that’s a safer bet when he knows Robin hasn’t done anything with any girls
But then Steve ends up drinking significantly more than anyone else while Robin and Eddie are hardly drinking so they end up switching games and somehow they end up playing fuck, marry, kill except Nancy has no interest in getting married or discussing it and she says there’s been enough death in Hawkins and it would be more fun to play with the options as sleep with, kiss, slap. And the game is already started before anyone can ask why marry got changed to kiss and before drunk Steve can figure out how to discretely convince everyone not to. The game goes fine at first with Argyle asking Jonathan about three girls from California. It goes alright when Jonathan asks Eddie about three girls. Steve gets a little concerned when Eddie turns his attention on Nancy that he’ll put Jonathan and him in the list right in front of Jonathan, but Eddie is sober enough still that he at least has enough tact not stir the pot and blow things up on her first turn by throwing them both in in front of them
But then Nancy goes to give Robin a turn and she’s looking right at her and lists the three guys there other than Steve (possibly because she believes Robin on the platonic with a capital P thing and possibly because she doesn’t want to find out if that would waver) so of course Nancy thinks it’s clear that she must be talking to the only other girl there. And before Robin can even try to think of what lie would be the most convincing and least likely to start any awkwardness or drama, Steve’s already jumping in with “Well, I already hit Jonathan and that didn’t go well for me, so I’ll give him a break. And this situation” (gesturing between himself and Nancy and Jonathan) “is finally starting to feel normal so I don’t need to make that awkward all over again by sleeping with your boyfriend. So kiss Jonathan.” And Nancy and Jonathan are looking at him so confused and Robin is grateful for the interruption and relieved but also kind of amused by the level of thought he’s putting into it instead of just throwing out names however. Argyle’s not fazed at all and just waiting to see what he’ll get. Eddie goes from deer in the headlights startled to leaning forward with his elbow on his knee and his chin resting in his hand waiting to see where this will go to abruptly sitting up again and trying to look less interested while his leg nervous bounces and he tries to figure out if Steve is giving a detailed answer to this as a joke or because he’s putting genuine thought into the idea of being with a guy
Steve looks between Eddie and Argyle for a moment, then focuses on Argyle and is like “Sorry, I hardly know you and getting dragged into hitting Eddie or standing around and watching Tommy do it without making any move to stop him is exactly the kind of douchebag bullshit I would have pulled in high school. So I guess slap you and have sex with Eddie.” Eddie’s drink goes down the wrong way when Steve adds “Plus, guitar players are supposed to be good with their hands, right?” and he tries to play it off and not react to the fact that Steve Harrington just said he’d have sex with him and that he thinks Eddie would be good in bed even if it was just in the context of some stupid game. Meanwhile Argyle’s just like “Nah, that’s cool dude. I get it. I would have slapped you too if the roles were reversed.”
After that, a few people start wondering a little more seriously if Steve is into guys too and had his guard down while drinking. But Eddie isn’t going to press his luck without clear evidence and everyone else isn’t going to push it so they just silently wonder a little more every time Steve interjects in the girl talk with his own opinion once again

bodyswap (steddie)
So, they beat Vecna. Nancy shoots him full of lead, El tears him apart from the inside, and Steve and Robin burn this version of the Creel House down with him in it. It’s over. It’s finally, finally over.
Steve ignores the reopened wounds in his side, racing to get back to Dustin and Eddie before the gates close forever. The ground rumbles again and all three of them stumble, Robin taking his hand and yanking him along when he falters.
“You can pass out when we get topside!” She screams at him, and he tries to give her a thumbs up before he wraps that hand around his bleeding torso.
They get to the trailer park, but Dustin and Eddie aren’t where they’re supposed to be. Steve almost rips Robin’s arm out of her socket when he turns around and runs.
“Dustin,” he bellows. There are dead demobats everywhere, and the mass of them on the ground thickens in a particular direction. He heads that way with a sinking feeling in his gut. “Dustin! We need to fucking move!”
“Steve!” He hears Dustin wail, and all self preservation leaves him as he bolts, landing heavily on his knees at Dustin’s side and immediately checking him over for injuries.
“Are you okay?” He gasps, holding his tearstained face in his hands. “Where are you hurt? Show me.”
Dustin shakes his head, crying harder, and that’s when Steve notices the limp body right in front of him.
Eddie coughs up blood. “Wow, Harrington,” he grins, “nice to see that you care.”
“Shit, shit, shit.” It’s bad. Steve goes into preservation mode, stripping off his jacket and shirt and using them to press down on the many, many bites littering Eddie’s body. He senses Robin and Nancy catch up behind him, and hears Nancy gasp.
“What do you need?” She asks, dropping down on Eddie’s other side.
“Robin and Dustin need to find a new way to get through the portal,” he says, looking over at them. “I can’t carry him and use the rope.”
“Rope’s gone, anyway,” Dustin mutters. “He cut it.”
“You cut the rope?”
Eddie shrugs as much as he can. “Seemed..” he coughs again, red and wet, “…like a good idea…at the time.”
“Stupid,” Dustin corrects angrily. “It was really fucking stupid.”
“We don’t have time for this,” Nancy says frantically. Robin nods, and takes Dustin away swiftly. Steve files Dustin’s limp in the back of his mind for later. “What do I need to do?”
“Help me keep him from bleeding out,” Steve says as he gathers Eddie into his arms. Eddie turns and nuzzles his face into Steve’s chest. It’s weird, but at least he’s alive to do it. “I might need help walking, too.”
“Right.” She examines him worriedly. “On three?”
He heaves Eddie up on the count of three, and Eddie whines, long and pained. “Sorry,” Steve gasps, the wounds on his side tearing. “Sorry.”
“S’kay,” Eddie mumbles, closing his eyes. He doesn’t open them again, and Steve jostles him.
“Hey, no passing out on me, got it? Keep those eyes open for me.”
The last thing he can remember is feeling Eddie’s blood mixing into his, their open wounds pressed together. Then he blacks out.
He wakes up in a hospital bed.
Dustin is beaming at him, teary and happy like Steve’s never seen him before. Not even when he agreed to play one campaign with the scoops troop, and admitted at the end that Dungeons and Dragons wasn’t that bad. Too much math and writing and thinking for him, it made his head hurt, but not, like, awful.
Steve thinks he’d wake up in a million hospital beds if it meant Dustin always smiled like this.
“—Robin’s with Steve, we’ve been taking shifts. Well, the rest of us have. She hasn’t actually left his side. He’s woken up a couple of times, like you, but you both fall right back asleep after,” Dustin’s saying, and Steve blinks, foggy.
“…Steve?”
“Yeah, he collapsed after he carried you out. Went septic, because he didn’t take care of himself again like an idiot and his bites got infected.”
“Wait,” Steve says. “Is there another Steve? Were you hiding another Steve behind my back? Where’s Eddie?”
Dustin stares at him. “You are Eddie.”
“S’not funny, Henderson. I just woke up from a fuckin’ coma, I don’t need this shit right now.”
“Did the bats eat your brains?” He demands. “Shit, do you have brain damage? What’s wrong with you?”
Steve pouts. “That’s not funny, you know I do.” Dustin’s seen him through his fair share of migraines, knows more about what to do and what exactly causes them than Steve, probably. The perks of getting your ass kicked in front of the smartest eighth graders on the planet.
“They gotcha on the good stuff, huh kid?” A man says from the other side of his bed. Steve whips around, only just realizing that this guy is also holding his hand. There’s multiple hand-holdings going on here, which he knows is normal for hospitals but doesn’t know why this random stranger is doing it. Does he know Dustin? Is this the other Steve?
“Who’re you?”
He looks hurt by this, which makes Steve feel like a monster. But his brain won’t work, he’s definitely high on some kind of painkillers, Dustin is being confusing, and he’s tired.
“That’s your Uncle Wayne,” Dustin reminds him.
“I don’t have an uncle,” Steve replies, frowning. His parents are both only children, as far as he’s aware, and they don’t have any friends that would call themselves his uncle. Still, the name sounds familiar. “Doesn’t Eddie have an Uncle Wayne?”
“What the hell are you going on about?” Uncle Wayne asks.
“You’re Eddie,” Dustin insists, confused and somewhat panicked. Now he knows how Steve feels.
“No I’m not.” Steve scowls, sick of whatever game he’s playing to fuck with Steve’s head. “I’m Steve.”
Dustin’s eyes widen, and Steve gets the sinking feeling that something is very, very wrong.
The door slams open.
“Dustin!” Robin hollers, eyes wild. “Something is wrong with Dingus! That’s not my dingus!”
“Robbie!” He says excitedly, and tries to sit up. Which goes poorly for him. Ow.
She looks at him, and a diamonds worth of emotions crosses her face at once. “…Steve?”
“Yes,” he cheers. At least someone knows who he is.
“How did you know?” Dustin demands.
“I’d know that drugged up puppy-dog look anywhere,” Robin replies, eyes still on Steve. “Plus, there’s a guy in Steve’s body trying to tell Nancy what kind of campaign he could make out of this.”
“My body?” Steve asks, horrified, just as that Wayne guy says, “Now hol’ up just one second—“
Robin pulls a compact mirror out of her pocket and approaches the bed with caution.
Wayne is ushered out, still loudly demanding answers for what the hell is going on with his nephew. Steve wishes he had them.
“Wait, wait, wait,” Robin says with a grin. “This is great.”
“Literally how,” Steve deadpans.
“Well maybe not great for you, but I’m about to have the time of my life. Eddie, quick, say something nerdy.”
“What,” Eddie says flatly. It’s weird to see his expressions on Steve’s face. His face shouldn’t look like that, shouldn’t move like that.
“C’mon,” she urges, “I wanna hear Steve’s voice talk about dnd, or your shitty music, or the moral majority.”
“Hey!” Steve objects. “We do talk about the moral majority.”
“Yeah, but we’re always serious about it. I wanna hear Munson give one of his tabletop speeches.”
Eddie looks baffled, which looks so different from the face Steve makes when he’s confused. It’s got the bare bones of it, but the finer details are off, trying to use a face that isn’t his. It’s creepy. Robin must agree, because she shudders a little.
“You, Steve Harrington, talk about the moral majority?”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Steve asks, offended, at the same time Robin says, “Oh, you should hear him. It’s incredible.”
“I’ll believe it when I see it,” Eddie answers, and Steve huffs, throwing his hands up as much as he can when he’s stuck in a hospital bed. Which means he basically just makes a little gesture and hopes it gets the message across.
“I don’t see what’s so shocking about it! A bunch of assholes declared that my kids were in a cult. They were going to hunt you down. Why would I be on their side?”
“I dunno, Stevie,” Eddie says, eyes glinting. “I guess it’s just a shock to me that the straight, rich-boy jock would have something to say about it. What’re they teaching you in those churches?”
He can’t quite stop the grimace that flashes across his face, meeting Robin’s eyes almost on instinct. Eddie’s eyebrows jut up.
“What’d I say?”
“I haven’t been to church in two years, man,” Steve admits, avoiding the other glaring assumption. “Once you have to save the lives of kids from monsters that shouldn’t exist, God doesn’t really seem that great.”
It was for the better, really, that Steve had given up. No amount of praying or bargaining made him forget how Jonathan Byers’s hand felt in his as they ran for their lives. It didn’t stop the monsters from coming back either.
Still, he hadn’t really stopped believing until Robin came out to him. He looked at her, this scared, brave girl who spit in the face of their torturers, the girl who Steve was pretty sure was his best friend, and quietly came to terms with the fact that if she was going to hell, there was never a god to begin with.
Robin had cried when he told her that.
Eddie is staring at him, eyes wide and searching. It keeps tripping him up, how different his own face is when someone else is wearing it.
“You’d think seeing hell would make anyone a believer,” he says, voice wry. “You keep surprising me.”
Steve fidgets, staring down at his legs. “It was just…it was always a lose-lose situation, you know? Either I stop going to church and go to hell, or I do what they want and end up there anyway. I can’t be what they want me to be, so why even try? There’s no point.”
When he looks up again, he meets Robin’s eyes first. She looks achingly fond, smiling at him as she gives his hand a squeeze. He gives a small smile back, and looks at Eddie.
He’s wide-eyed, surprise coloring every inch of his face. Or, well, Steve’s face. “Yeah,” he whispers. “Yeah, that’s— that's exactly it.”
“Dude, does Jonathan scare you?”
“What?”
“Your body, like, goes haywire around him. He checked my—your—the injuries I’m currently sporting and I thought I was gonna die.”
Steve’s face heats up. “I’m not scared of Jonathan.”
“It’s ok, Steve, you can tell me the truth,” Eddie says, only a little bit of mockery in his tone. “I’ll protect you from Big Bad Byers.”
He closes his eyes in mortification. “I’m not scared,” he stresses, “of Jonathan Byers.”
“Really? Because I wasn’t joking about thinking I was dying. Your heart goes crazy around…him…” Eddie trails off, eyes widening as he clocks the blush spreading down Steve’s neck.
Fuck Eddie’s pale skin, seriously. Steve’s tan enough that people barely notice, but Eddie seems like he spends a sunny day sitting in his room working on song lyrics or campaign notes. He wants his fucking body back.
Shit, he’s in Eddie’s body, and Eddie just found out he’s queer. He’s a queer man in Eddie’s body. He’s going to think Steve’s some kind of perv, or using his dick, or…or…
“Byers?” Eddie finally says. “Of all the men in the world, Byers is the one you pick?”
Steve’s eyes pop open from where he’d squeezed them shut. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

Hands Where I Can See Them, Part 9
Pt 1 | Pt 2 | Pt 3 | Pt 4 | Pt 5 | Pt 6 | Pt 7 | Pt 8 | Ao3
Thank you once again to @azure7539arts for listening to me play relationship counselor for, like, an hour while I figured this chapter out <3
-
It takes a bit of driving before Eddie finds Steve.
He swings by Steve’s house just to be sure, then the overlook at the quarry, then the roadside where people park when they’re heading up to Skull Rock, then the park where Steve goes running sometimes, and then finally, begrudgingly, the lake.
Which is where he spots Steve’s car.
He parks next to the beemer and gets out, glancing out over the moonlit surface of the lake. He still doesn’t like it here; avoids it when he can. He wonders briefly, bitterly, if that’s why Steve chose to come here over anywhere else.
Eddie shakes the thought away and approaches the shore, where he can see a figure standing, the light of the moon glancing off the pale fabric of a members only jacket.
He isn’t quiet as he comes up behind Steve, letting his sneakers crunch across pebbles and dying grass to signal his arrival, and he watches as Steve bends to pick something up off the ground – a stone, Eddie realizes, as Steve draws back and flicks it out over the water, sending it skipping across the surface.
It bounces two, three, four times, and then sinks into the water several yards out.
“How’d you know I’d be here?” Steve asks without looking over as Eddie comes to stand next to him.
Eddie doesn’t mention how many places he’d checked before coming here. Instead, he glances around and finds a smooth, flat stone of his own. “When you’re sad, you go to Robin,” he says (or me, he doesn’t say; you used to come to me), “but when you’re angry, you want to be alone, because it still scares you. You’re afraid you’ll say or do something you regret, and you won’t be able to take it back.”
Eddie sends the stone skipping out over the lake; one, two, three jumps, and it sinks.
Steve scoffs, picking another stone up out of the dirt. “Yeah, you know me so well,” he mutters. He doesn’t bother skipping the rock in his hand; he hurls it like a baseball over a field of water, where it lands and sinks with a loud plunk. “So fucking well.”
“I thought I did,” Eddie says. “I thought I was doing alright, until tonight. That I could give you what you needed and make you feel like… like I see you.”
“Dinner in the park was nice,” Steve mutters. “The diner date was a shitty idea.”
“Yeah, I get that now,” Eddie replies ruefully.
“I just– Where was all of this before?” Steve finally turns to look at him, eyes demanding in the silvery light. “You know all of this about me, you were paying attention and you saw all of this, but you just – what? Ignored how I was feeling, anyway?”
“No,” Eddie says. “I didn’t– I wasn’t ignoring you, I was ignoring everything. You, me, the whole situation – I thought I had it figured out and I didn’t let myself think about it any other way.” Eddie pulls in a breath, trying to keep calm. “I’m not trying to make excuses, okay? I’m not saying it was okay, I know that I hurt you, and I’m trying to make up for it, and you keep saying you’ll let me, and then– and then I fuck up and you shut down again, and I don’t know how to fix it.”
Steve glances away. He kneels down to pick up another rock, but doesn’t immediately throw it. Instead, he stands for a moment, worrying the surface of it with his thumb.
“I’m sorry for jerking you around,” he says quietly. “That wasn’t fair. I thought I was ready, but I just– I still don’t understand why you’re doing this.”
“I told you: I fucked up and I hurt you and I want to make it better–”
“But why?” Steve pushes, looking back over at Eddie. “Why do you even want me? Is it that you miss the sex, or – just that I threatened to take everything away? Because I was there, for months, loving you, even before we slept together, and falling deeper after that, and you didn’t even notice. It wasn’t good enough for you then, so why is it suddenly good enough now?”
Steve’s voice cracks, and a little piece of Eddie goes with it.
“Steve, no. It was always good enough, you were always good enough.” Eddie turns and takes a step towards Steve, instinctively trying to bridge the gap between them; Steve doesn’t step away, but he watches Eddie warily. “I didn’t– I didn’t know what I was looking at. I didn’t understand.”
Steve doesn’t say anything, just crosses his arms over his chest, stone still clutched, forgotten, in one hand.
“I mean, it’s like I had the world’s most precious object in my hands, and I didn’t know what it was, and I used it as a fucking paperweight,” Eddie manages. “No one has ever loved me the way you did. No one has ever put as much work into – into making me feel good, making me happy, doing things for me and teaching me how to do them and – and bringing me fucking flowers. You’re like something out of a fucking storybook, Steve, and I didn’t think I would ever have or… deserve that, so I didn’t even let myself consider it.
“And that’s not an excuse, I get it. It’s not. It’s just– it’s the only reason I can give you. And I’ve–” Eddie breaks off, takes a breath, and pushes on; Steve needs to hear all of it, deserves to hear all of it. “I’ve never been in love before. So even though it was sitting right on my fucking chest the entire time, I didn’t recognize it for what it was. It should’ve been all yours, but I couldn’t even name it, and I’m sorry.”
Steve pulls in a sharp, shuddery breath at the end of Eddie’s confession, watching him now with wide and startled eyes.
“Can you say it?” he asks softly.
“What?” Eddie asks, thrown by the unexpected question.
“Can you say it? Tell me that you love me?” Steve’s voice nearly chokes around the words, and he’s staring at Eddie with so much trepidation that it’s almost smothering out the hope that’s there beneath it.
“I love you,” Eddie says automatically, without even having to think, because it’s true. “I love you. Of course I love you, Steve, holy shit. I love having you around, I love when you’re being selfless and kind and I love when you’re being petty and bitchy and I love when you listen to me and when you tell me about what you like and I love you when you’re in my bed and I love you when you’re angry at me and I can’t believe I’ve never said it before because now it won’t stop coming out–”
The problem is solved when Steve takes two steps forward, drops the stone he’s been holding at their feet, puts one hand on Eddie’s jaw, leans in, and cuts him off with a kiss. And in spite of the words that had just been streaming from Eddie’s mouth, he has absolutely no trouble immediately getting with the program and kissing back.
He can’t help the “I love you” that slips out when Steve pulls away, but then he grips the front of Steve’s jacket and reels him back in for another kiss.
“I love you, I love you, I promise I do,” Eddie manages between presses of lips. “I’m going to show you every day if you let me, I will.”
“Yeah,” Steve says shakily, finally breaking their connection so he can bury his face in the crook of Eddie’s neck, wrapping his arms around Eddie’s middle and holding him tight. “Yeah, okay.”
Eddie’s arms are around Steve’s shoulders in an instant, pulling him closer still. “Okay.”
“I love you, too. I still do,” Steve says, a little muffled.
Eddie inhales sharply. He’d had a feeling – Steve Harrington isn’t really the sort of person who ever stops loving someone, not really, but having it confirmed is like a burst of pleasant static in his chest. He lets one hand slide up over the back of Steve’s neck and into his hair, cradling his head, and Steve nuzzles in a bit closer, only to make Eddie flinch when the cold tip of his nose brushes his neck.
“Jesus, you’re cold,” Eddie says, running his other hand down Steve’s back and finally noting how little body warmth seeps through his jacket.
“Been out here a while,” Steve mumbles. “Told you I should’ve worn something heavier.”
“Shit, uh–” Eddie ignores Steve’s annoyed little sigh when he’s forced to pull away so that Eddie can shimmy out of his battle jacket and hold it out for him. “Here. Might help.”
Slowly, Steve lifts his hand to take the jacket, glancing up at Eddie and raising his eyebrows. “You wanna talk about recreating history…”
For a long moment, Eddie stares, uncomprehending, until Steve’s eyes flick out towards the lake and then back towards the vest.
“Oh, shit,” Eddie hisses. “Wait, no, I wasn’t trying to–”
“Relax,” Steve cuts in, smirking as he shrugs the vest over his own jacket and then steps back into Eddie’s space. “I’m teasing.”
Eddie tries to frown at Steve, but he can’t maintain it as Steve slips his arms under his leather jacket and around his waist and pecks him on the cheek.
“You making fun of my chivalry, Harrington?” Eddie grumbles, slinging his arms back around Steve’s shoulders.
“Little bit,” Steve answers, before resting his chin on Eddie’s shoulder and relaxing against him so heavily that Eddie has to readjust his center of gravity.
They stand there on the shore for a bit longer, swaying together in the comfort of what they’ve both been missing, until Eddie’s fingers begin to get cold. The late October chill is starting to bite, and Eddie can feel the cool breeze coming in off the lake.
“So…” Eddie says quietly, pulling reluctantly back from Steve; he knows they’ll need to go back to their cars soon, but he can’t leave without addressing one last thing. “If we’re really doing this... And– and we are?”
Steve nods. “Yeah. I want– I really want to try again.”
“Okay.” Eddie nods, unable to help the nearly reflexive little smile that quirks up at that. “Then I’m gonna do my best to be better and pay more attention, but I need you to tell me when you want something. When you need something.” He reaches up and cups Steve’s jaw, cold skin on cold skin, swiping his thumbs across Steve’s cheeks. “I know you’re not used to doing that with people, but I need you to. I want to give you what you want, but I can’t unless you tell me. Okay?”
Slowly, Steve nods. “I’ll try,” he says, a little hoarse.
Still smiling, Eddie leans in for a kiss, and Steve meets him halfway.
It doesn’t last long; it’s dark, and they’re both cold and tired, and Steve is the first to pull away, heaving another put-upon sigh.
“Okay, let’s go home,” he says, grabbing Eddie by the hand and leading him back towards where they’d parked.
Eddie spends a moment furiously working the statement over in his head, trying to figure out what “home” means—Eddie’s place? Steve’s place? Each to their respective houses?—but he’s saved from having to ask when Steve glances back over his shoulder at him.
“You go first, I’ll follow,” he says, and Eddie relaxes.
Home it is.
Though it genuinely hadn’t been his intent at the start of the evening, they do both end up in Eddie’s bed. Steve steals a set of Eddie’s pajamas and claims the same side of the mattress that he always has, and they both drift off curled into one another’s space.
It’s the best Eddie’s slept in weeks.

Steve And Robin Are Stuck in A Timeloop AU
Steve's lost track of which time loop this is.
Had lost track pretty much instantly, because it turns out when people die repeatedly in front of you, it kinda takes precedence in your memory.
Besides, Robin has a list in her head, memorized via some kind of musical code, alongside all the dates and times they wake up in.
(Steve doesn't see what difference it makes if they wake up at 7:15 am the day of the Championship or 8:25 am, but Robin's insistent that even the slightest variations could mean something.)
He’ll have to ask his soulmate when he finds her though, because presently Steve has determined they're having one of their weirder loops.
Typically, when the two of them get kicked back in time, they wake up the day of the Championship game. Occasionally it will be the day right before or the day after, but sometimes?
Sometimes they’re sent back someplace, some time, that isn’t related to 1986 at all.
Thus far, the Starcourt loop had been the worst.
("If it happens a third time I'm killing myself." Steve had told Robin after they’d failed that one.
Robin didn’t even look at him, the two of them huddled up together in Steve’s bed. "No you're not Dingus, not without shooting me first."
"How come I have to shoot you!? Is it because I'm a man? That's not very feminist of you."
"No its because you've seen me shoot, I would miss!")
Steve had even woken up in an odd place. Not his bed or the couch, but the driver's seat of the Beamer, seated in the high school parking lot.
It made him immediately uneasy.
The chair is reclined all the way back, the mass of cars indicating it was a school day. Steve struggled to recall when he's ever taken a nap in his car as he got out of it, trying to decide how he wanted to go about things.
Felt his pocket and was surprised to find it full of a packet of smokes.
The sheer implication of that had him pulling out a cig and lighting it before the knowledge that he'd officially quit buying his own cigarettes in 1985 sank in.
Panicked and chainsmokes three, before deciding his best course of action was his usual one.
Find Robin.
Which of course means that he found Eddie instead.
xxx
He’d started his first lap, walking out if the parking lot and round to the more shaded, empty parts of the building when a voice he knew yelled.
The kind of yell he’d grown intimately familiar with, the one Eddie used when he was terrified and using anger to hide it.
Steve turns automatically, following the taunts and loud, pained breathing until he finds a handful of jocks encircling the metalhead. He's down on one knee, snarling like a wildcat caught in a trap while some guy Steve barely recognizes holds him by the hair, laughing.
Red coats his vision instantly, and any thoughts Steve had about being stuck in time (sort of) vanish from his mind entirely.
The world shrinks down, to that white knuckled grip on Eddie's hair, the way it’s pulling the older boy’s face up so that Steve can see the straining muscles in his throat.
The protective creature that lives in his chest and likes to punch it’s way out of problems awakens, and a thrum goes through Steve as he feels its demand for blood.
"Hey fellas " Steve calls joyfully, striding directly into the crowd. "What’re we doing?"
Two part before him like fish seeing a shark, and a faraway inner voice identifies them as members of the swim team.
Which likely meant the other two were football players, and for all the tackling they did they were surprisingly easy to scare, if you knew how to play it right.
Steve absolutely knew how to play it right.
"Fuck off Harrington. This isn't your business." The one holding Eddie's hair spits.
"Well that would be where you're wrong." Steve was still keeping things conversational as he positioned himself, arms nice and loose at his sides. He lets the thing that lives inside him, who made him turn right back around all those years ago and charge back into the Byers house, out a little more. Feels the need to protect, to save, to destroy the things that are his, fuel him.  "Seeing as all of Eddie's business is my business."
Eddie stares up at him, wide eyed at the declaration.
Feeling entirely out of control of his body, Steve sends him a wink.
"Since when!?" The other football player asks.
"Since now." Steve declares cheerfully--and then smiles.
It isn’t a nice smile.
Thoroughly unnerved, his swim team members shrink back. He’ll have words for them later if he has time--Steve can't ever recall the swim team members being dicks but who fucking knows.
His memory wasn't the best before he and Robin got stuck in time.
"You fucking into drugs now or wha--" Their ringleader, still holding onto Eddie by the hair, doesn't get to finish his sentence.
Mostly because his mouth is too busy catching Steve's fist.
Fighting, he knows, is something he does best when it's too the death and he's armed with something.
Bonus points if his opponent is a horrific monster from another dimension.
He has gotten better though, and here the rapid pace he sets feels almost too easy.
The first guy goes down on the ground before the rest pick up on it, giving Eddie time to lurch backwards as Steve turns and torpedoes into the next jock.
This one gets in a good shot--Steve staggers with a blow to his side but it's not enough to wind him. He keeps to his feet and advances, delivering one more punch before the swim team guys are trying to call him off.
"Come on man, you're gonna kill them!"
Steve almost laughs-- he hasn't come close to killing either idiot-- but backs away, keeping himself between them and Eddie.
They wave their hands, getting ahold of their bloodied friends as they slowly ease between them and Steve. Make apologizes and promises that it was a poor joke, Munson just got to them, hot heads you know?
Steve snarls at them to fuck off, and glares until they're gone.
"What the hell just happened?" Eddie asks him, and Steve turns to find him on his feet, leaning heavily against the brick wall of the school.
As far as he can get away from Steve.
"Our football quarterback can't hit for shit." Steve informs him, having finally placed an least one of the guys. "It's probably why we always lose."
Eddie gives him such a freaked out face it almost makes him laugh a second time.
The effect isn't helped by the fact that Eddie's normally long mane is hovering just over his shoulders, the curls somehow poofier than normal. Clearly he’s still trying to grow it out, but it just makes him look like one of those frazzled dogs.
Adorable.
On instinct Steve reaches out to playfully pull a few strands, then freezes when Eddie flinches from him.
"Sorry." He keeps his hands up, as he takes in Munson's face. "Shit dude, he got your nose good."
There's blood smeared under it, and given the look of the skin surrounding it?
Eddie's gonna have an impressive bruise soon enough.
Steve gets a glare sent his way. "Why do you care?" Eddie spits, back very much still up, and-- right.
Right.
Time travel.
"I'm really bad at explaining it." Steve warns, running a hand through his hair. He did this part plenty without Robin (meeting Eddie that was--Robs usually tackled Nancy.) But he also typically did in it 1986, and with at least three of the kids, not whenever they currently were.
"We usually start with facts only you'd know, but I don't actually know when I am right now." He finishes, and realizes immediately that it doesn’t make a lick of sense.
"When you are?" Eddie asks, because of course he clocks that part immediately.
"Ye--eah." Steve says, dragging out the word.
He looks at Eddie desperately, like the metalhead will tell him the exact information he needs.
Eddie just stares back.
"Look, it sounds really stupid when you say it out loud." Steve says finally, because fuck, it does!
"Comparable to all the other times you talk out loud?" Eddie snips, voice full of venom.
"Shut up.” Steve replies automatically, but his tone holds no heat. He’s too used to trading banter with Eddie that is friendly.  “I'm gonna preface this by saying I can prove it."
"Oh wow preface. Such a big word for you! Did Nancy Wheeler teach you that one?"
"Robin actually." Then, "Nancy?"
The look Eddie gives him could melt steel beams. "Yeah man. Nancy Wheeler. Your girlfriend."
"Oh--oh god." Steve says, because that means they're way back. Possibly to the beginning.
Or worse, before he and Nancy had broken up.
"I can’t handle that breakup a second time." He says wide eyed, the panic gripping him for a second. “I could-no, no I could get Robin to tell her!”
Because that sure would work.
Steve can just imagine it now. Robin, sauntering up to Nancy and going ‘Hey, we really haven’t met yet but you’re gonna dump Steve, if you haven’t already and to cut through all the drama, I’m here to just tell you on his behalf that it’s over. What was that? A coward? Why yes, he is one!’
You know, provided she didn’t just laugh in his face and then cuff him over the head when she realized he was being serious.
“Dude.” Eddie says, sinking a world’s worth of judgment into the single syllable.
“Yeah, you’re right, bad call.” Steve says, and whatever Eddie was expecting it clearly wasn’t that.
“Are you on drugs right now?” Eddie finally asks when Steve reverts back to looking to him as if he’s going to help. A bad habit, and one Steve knows he needs to stop doing.
Even if Eddie, in the original timeline and every one after they got him on board, eventually becomes someone Steve can rely on like that.
“You can tell me if you are, man, you know I won’t judge.” The hateful air around him is fading into something more confused, and then into something else entirely. The persona Eddie pulls when he’s hurt and trying to hide it with jokes and rants. “Unless you and your buddies bought from someone that wasn’t me, in which case I get exclusive rights to judge.”
He’s shifting as he finally stands up off the wall, and Steve doesn’t miss how he hugs one hand to a rib.
Shit.
He needs to get Eddie up to speed and he needs to do it fast.
Steve sighs and just starts listing Eddie Munson Facts like an unprepared kid who was called on in class.
"Okay, so your uncle collects mugs, right? And--fuck I don't know when you get all the tattoos,” Steve makes a vague gesture around his chest, “but you have bats on your arm and you gave them all names."
Eddie's eyes pop wide again, jaw slacking as Steve volleys off a few more Munson Facts.
"You have this weird fear about red ribbon necklaces because of a book you read in third grade, your first guitar has this giant ugly--sorry dude, but you cannot write legibly to save your life, 'This machine slays dragons' quote across it and--oh!"
He was so fucking stupid. The answer was literally staring at him in the face, dangling around Eddie's neck.
Steve snapped his fingers excitedly. "The guitar pick on your neck is your moms!"
Eddie’s mouth open and closes like a fish, long enough that the smile slowly slides off of Steve’s face.
"How the fuck do you know all that?" He manages after a long, tortuous moment, looking like he’d been sucker punched.
Again.
With the most pained look his face can manage, Steve finally answers. "Time travel."
Eddie blinks.
Then blinks again.
 "Time travel." He echoes faintly.
"Yeah. I'm from 1986, where things kinda got really fucked up."
"No kidding?" Eddie says, right before he erupts into giggles.
"Did they get you in the head?" Steve asks, abruptly concerned, as Eddie collapses back against the wall in a growing fit of laughter.
Concussed Eddie was not a road he wanted to go down but Steve knew better than anyone what happens if you ignore such things.
"I think my weed just hit." Eddie explains as he wipes away a tear, and Steve wants to shake him, but knows it won't get him anywhere.
"That's great. That's just great."  He grumbles, hands going onto his hips. "Come on."
"Where are we going?"
"To get you a bandage. And then find Robin.”
Robin, Steve decided, could handle a high, concussed Eddie.

How to Rehabilitate a Jock Part 6
Part 1 Part 5. Ao3 Link Part 7
It was already the second week of December by the time the Hellfire club finally, finally, defeated the Demon Lord Graz’zt. Normally, Eddie loved when a campaign stretched and stretched. It was a devious kind of joy to get to see his friends get stumped and backtrack and do everything they could to defeat whatever he had put in front of them.
This time, he just wanted them to stab his stupid demon in the chest, light him on fire, and be done with it.
A thousand times he had thought about just letting them win, and just letting them get through the end of the campaign. But his integrity as a dungeon master and a storyteller stopped him from doing it every single time.
That, and Eddie was pretty sure they would be able to tell if he was skimping out on an ending just to get to the next campaign. Especially since they all knew why he would be so anxious to get to the next campaign.
But, last week they had done it. Right at the last second Graz’zt had exploded in a shower of red sparks, the party had gained treasure and XP galore, and Eddie had stayed up every night this week finishing a one shot just for the occasion.
Usually there was a rest week in between campaigns, or one of the others would rotate in as DM and Eddie would get to play for a while, but he wanted to be the one to run Steve’s first game. He didn’t trust any of the others not to sabotage, or try and kill him off early.
Besides, he had the perfect beginner game planned.
Well, he would have the perfect beginner game if their beginner ever decided to show up.
“Seems like being late is a character trait,” Frank said as the rest of Hellfire sat around the table, clearly bored. Jeff was doodling in his book, and Rocky looked like he was asleep on the far side, face smushed up against the wood. School had ended almost a half hour ago, but there was still no sign of Steve.
“This does give us time for a JRP update?” Janet suggested, sliding her chair back and walking over to the board.
“Well, the update is…wow! Nothing has changed,” Gareth said, faking a look of utter shock before sliding back into his usual grumpy scowl, turning to Eddie, “Do you really want to wait three more months just to have to admit that I am right about him?”
“How could anything have changed so far, Gareth?” Eddie shot back, sick and tired of his best friend’s issues.
He held up a hand and began to count on his fingers right in front of Gareth’s face. Eddie knew that the other boy hated when he did things like that, but he also knew that he really couldn’t give a flying fuck at this point. Steve was trying, really honestly trying, and Gareth was being a jerk for literally no reason.
“We just finished our new campaign, Steve isn’t even aware of the band yet because I’m not allowed to invite him to a show, and your third ridiculous checkpoint still has no defining parameters!” Eddie finished with a flourish.
“Well, technically you can invite Steve to a show,” Kaiden said, grabbing everyone’s attention. He shrugged, pointing to the board, “It doesn’t say that Eddie can never invite him. It just won’t count towards the JRP until Steve goes without an invitation,”
“Kaiden, what the hell?” Gareth said, spinning around and shooting his glare over to him instead of Eddie.
“I don’t mind Steve, Gar.” Kaiden said with a shrug, unphased by his mood. By now they were all getting used to working around Gareth’s griping, “He’s pretty chill, he can be kinda funny, and I can’t think of anything he personally did that was that bad. Maybe he really is trying to be someone different now,”
The rest of the club didn’t speak, which Eddie decided to consider an extremely minute amount of progress. Sure, they weren’t sticking up for Steve, but they weren’t actively fighting against him anymore.
Well, all except for one
“Traitor,” Gareth muttered under his breath.
“Hey,” Eddie immediately snapped. Gareth could be pissy with him all he wanted, but he couldn’t go after another one of Eddie’s sheep just because he was mad.
“I agree with Kaiden, I don’t see why Eddie would be forbidden from ever inviting Steve to a show,” Janet said, tapping her chin.
Either she was unaware of how close the boys were to actually fighting, or she was actively ignoring it in favor of staying logical. Eddie would bet all of his money on the latter. Janet really was too smart for her own good.
“As for setting parameters for the third point, I’m not sure how we go about that,” She continued, tapping her chalk against the board as she wracked her brain for potential ideas.
“We don’t. We’ll know it when we see it,” Gareth stubbornly repeated, crossing his arms, “Though I doubt we will. This is just a waste of time.”
Okay. Enough was enough.
“What is your problem with him?!” Eddie shouted, starting the rest of the group. Rocky’s head popped off the table with a gasp, and Jeff immediately stiffened up. They were used to Eddie shouting, used to him raising his voice or getting angry, but that was all play, a show. This was actual anger, and that was scary.
“Where did your problem with him go?” Gareth said, giving as good as he got, “You used to be the first to say that they aren’t us! They’re the enemy! He is literally the face of that enemy! What happened to the Munson Doctrine?!”
Eddie opened his mouth to tell Gareth exactly where he could stick his Munson Doctrine, but before he could, Jeff stood up.
His shoulders were up by his ears, and he looked completely uncomfortable, but Jeff was standing up anyway. A silent look from their bassist took the wind out of both boys’ sails, and they sat back down, tense and on edge.
“Sorry Jeff,” Eddie sighed, pushing down any potential self hatred that wanted to rise up. The two of them knew Jeff’s story, knew why he wasn’t comfortable with angry yelling close to him, and they had done it anyway. Eddie forced himself to take a deep breath, watching as Gareth did the same.
“Yeah, sorry,” Gareth echoed, looking genuinely remorseful.
“This isn’t productive,” Frank pointed out, rolling his chair backwards until it collided with the chalkboard next to where Janet was standing, “I think that we should settle for a compromise.  All of the club members agree that Steve can stay. That would at least be enough to be considered a renouncement of some sort, right?,”
“That’s not the same,” Gareth protested.
“Well, seeing as you don’t have a good argument for your checkpoint,” Frank replied, trailing off and waiting to hear if he had anything else to say. When Gareth remained grumpy and silent the rest nodded.
“Okay so, I’ll just write our initials here, and when we decide we’re okay with Steve-”
“If” Gareth interrupted.
“Fine. If we decide that we’re okay with Steve staying, we can cross out our names,” Janet said, miffed at being talked over, but choosing to move past it in favor of keeping the peace.
She quickly began to jot down everyone’s initials, adding Steve’s right at the top just to keep up appearances. Eddie wasn’t exactly sure how they would explain that one, but hopefully Steve wouldn’t ask. He usually didn’t question things around the room unless they were particularly outlandish.
“I’m fine with Steve,” Eddie said the second she wrote his initials.
“We got that one, Eds,” Jeff replied with a good natured eye roll. Now that things were calming down again, he seemed way more relaxed. Janet clicked her tongue anyway, putting a thick white line through the E.M. she had just written.
“I don’t mind him,” Kaiden tacked on. Janet shot him a quick nod, crossing out Kaiden’s initials, and then, surprisingly, her own.
“Janet?” Frank questioned. She shrugged, pausing for a second to ruffle his hair as she continued to write. She was the only one that didn’t see the way Frank’s face went beet red the moment she touched him.
“He’s interesting,” She said, as if that was the only explanation she needed, “I’m a scientist. I like to experiment,”
She finished with Gareth’s ‘G.L-W.’ turning to face the group.
“Anyone else?”
The rest of the club shook their heads, but Eddie couldn’t care less. He was already a third of the way there! And, there was no doubt in his mind that at least a few of them were going to be impressed with Steve’s gameplay today.
After all Steve had been taught by the best.
“Okay so, slightly modified parameters, but-”
“Sorry I’m late!” Steve said as he burst into the room, cutting Janet off.
If she was annoyed at being interrupted a second time, she didn’t let it slip. Instantly, she and Frank were back in their seats, her chalk abandoned, broken in two on the ground. The entire club did their best to look perfectly innocent, a truly terrible job that left them all seeming extremely, extremely, guilty.
The only reason they got away with it was that Steve was way too caught up in rambling and trying to explain himself.
“I’m so sorry, I was trying to get the kids set up in the library, because they want to come to my house after school for a sleepover. Winter break, right? But then they kept asking me question after question, and wanting to come watch me shoot hoops. They never want to watch me shoot hoops! Why now?! I swear this is what I get for letting them use my house to take pictures for the Snow Ball.” Steve groaned, getting stuck in his scarf as he tried to unwind it from around his head.
Eddie laughed softly, getting up and coming around the table, slowly helping Steve get free of his yarn filled prison.
“Are you going to chaperone this Sunday?” Eddie asked. Instantly his mind was filled with the image of Steve in a handsome black suit, a dark red rose sitting in his lapel and perfectly complimenting his ruby lips.
Okay. File that under ‘Things Eddie was never allowed to think about again except when alone in his bedroom’.
“Definitely not. I’m a babysitter, not a chaperone,” Steve said with a smirk, “I’ll let them get ready at my place and have a little after party there, and that should stop them from being arrogant whiny brats for a little while. Hope I didn’t miss anything though,”
Just the rest of the club talking about using him as a human lab rat.
“Nope,” Eddie lied smoothly, pulling Steve’s chair out for him and making a huge grand gesture for him to come sit.
“Welcome to this side of the table,” Kaiden said from his seat across from Steve. Normally Gareth sat on Eddie’s right side, but since the first meeting that Steve had joined, his best friend had regulated himself to the corner as far from Eddie as he could get.
Whatever. That was better anyway. Eddie didn’t care.
(He cared so much more than he wanted to admit.)
“Glad to be here?” Steve said, pulling out the folder Eddie had given him for all of his character sheets and looking around the group nervously.
He didn’t have anything to worry about. Eddie had helped him to build a totally awesome persona.
“It’s hell,” Frank sighed solemnly, patting Steve’s shoulder.
“Hellfire,” Eddie corrected, the rest of the group groaning at his bad pun. He waved off their lack of appreciation for his fantastic word play, perching on his throne and raising a hand.
“I would like to take a moment to recognize that this is a special occasion. We are here to celebrate the birth of Steve’s very first Dungeons and Dragons character,” Eddie said, pausing so the rest could react appropriately.
Sure enough there was a round of foot stomping and table slapping. Steve startled at the noise, but quickly recovered, blushing, but still staring directly at Eddie with those big beautiful browns.
God damn this brave, lovely, completely adorable boy.
“May I introduce the former Prince of the realm, Level One Human Ranger Stefan of Herringtown. Stefan, Welcome to Hellfire,” Eddie said, pausing to give Steve a secretive wink and loving the way that the blush on the other boy’s cheeks traveled to his ears when he did.
Stefan was, arguably, a pretty cool first time character. Steve lingered just on the edge of being a paladin, but he had enough chaotic energy that Ranger seemed to fit him better. He was a loyal to a fault kind of guy who had a habit for picking up strays, a smooth quick talking charm that tended to get him in and out of trouble, and a chip on his shoulder from being exiled from his kingdom.
In short, he was Steve, but dungeons and dragonsified. Perfect for the first play through.
With that settled, Eddie rolled his shoulders, settling himself into his dungeon master character and taking a long breath in.
“Your party is starting off trekking across the frozen tundra,” He began, feeling the mood shift to excitement as the rest prepared themselves for his opener, “Your feet are freezing, and your fingers have gone numb, but you continue on anyway. You have heard tale of an abandoned factory at the highest point of the world- a place littered with treasures and everything a being could ever ask for. You want to see the place for yourselves, and maybe even loot some of the booty.”
Rocky gave a vicious grin at this, chuckling softly to himself. His tiefling rogue was always looking to horde more treasure, and Rocky loved to get into character as quickly as he could. It was fun, it added something to the game.
“You see a building and hurry closer, eager to get out of the biting frost. It is a dark unnatural place with high smoke stacks and mounds of coal sitting all around the entrance. You enter as one without thinking or stopping to check your surroundings, collapsing on the other side and panting to catch your breath. What is your first move, Goren the Great?” Eddie asked, starting on the far side of the table.
Even if he and Gareth weren’t on the best of terms right now, Eddie still wouldn’t want to start a campaign with any other player. It just wouldn't feel right.
“I do a perception check,” Gareth decided. Eddie nodded towards his d8, and Gareth grabbed it, throwing down a seven.
“As a dwarf, you have spent many years hunting through mines for precious gems, so your ability to see in the dark is unparalleled. You can see strange boot shaped bags all around the room, and boxes that are wrapped with twine bows,” He said, watching as their brains began to spin with possibilities.
This was the best part. Watching his players try to figure out exactly what was going on around them was just so fun.
“Well, I have a feeling we may have stumbled upon the right place. I can see treasure from corner to corner,” Gareth remarked, throwing his voice into a growling rumble, perfect for his hardened grizzled character.
“I can’t see anything,” Jeff complained, getting into it.
"That's because you are a stupid elf, and your stupid elf eyesight only works in the day,” Gareth replied, both of them holding back laughter.
“How dare you?! You, you…tiny little man!”
And then they were off, back and forth insults that were cheesy, yet sometimes creative. The club watched in amusement. Even Steve was snickering, and he normally tried to pretend he didn’t exist when it had anything to do with Gareth. Usually Eddie would try and focus the group back in, but he was happy to let them banter for a little while.
This was the kind of fighting they should be doing. This was the Gareth Eddie knew, and getting to see that that guy was still somewhere in this new person was very comforting.
“I am through with your impertinent conclusions,” Jeff huffed in mock exasperation, keeping his voice high and flighty as he did, “I am ready to take my turn, master of the game.”
“Very well,” Eddie said, inclining his head and waiting to hear.
“I open my bag and get out a torch, but I want to hit Goren with my bag as I do it,” Jeff said, the rest of the group immediately bursting into laughter.
“Roll 2 d8. One for hitting him, and one for how much light the torch is going to give you,” Eddie instructed, biting his lip to hide his smile. Jeff let the dice fly, getting an eight and a two respectively.
“As you pull out your torch, you smack Goren right in the face with your bag. Goren loses one hit point,” Eddie said, making a note on his paper.
“Ow!”
“Oh, I am sooo sorry that was completely unintentional.” Jeff gasped sarcastically, holding a hand against his heart and raising his eyes to the sky.
“Goren does not believe you, but he will hold his anger for later,” Eddie said, sliding in smoothly before another ‘argument’ could take place, “You light your torch, but the draft coming in through the broken windows makes the flame flicker and shrink. You can just see the edge of an image drawn on the wall,”
“I want to examine the drawing,” Kaiden jumped in.
“June Iper it is not your turn,” Eddie replied, referring to Kaiden by his character’s name. If they were doing things their normal way, then it would be Kaiden’s turn, but as it was, it was time for Rocky to go.
Kaiden grumbled to himself, then sat up straight. He and Rocky made eye contact for a brief second before quickly scrambling to switch seats.
“Now it is my turn,” Kaiden said, his head held high in victory. Eddie rolled his eyes but allowed it to slide, just happy that the two freshman boys were having a good time. He let Kaiden roll and then continued on, eager to get to the entrance of the main enemy.
“You snatch the torch out of Boz’s hand, scampering up to the wall and holding it as high as you can, which isn’t very high at all,” Eddie pointed out. Kaiden’s character was a gnome, and Eddie never missed a chance to make a short joke at their expense, “The rest of the party can only see what looks like a chariot being dragged by cloven hoofed beasts.”
“Wait a second,” Janet said, her face lighting up in realization. She turned to Eddie with her eyes narrowed, and he schooled himself into a completely innocent expression.
“Yes Miss Ngyet?” He asked innocently, having a feeling she had already guessed where this one shot was going.
“I take the torch from June so we can see better,”
“Is there normally this much torch stealing?” Steve asked softly as Janet rolled, quirking his head to the side as he gave Eddie a raised brow. Before Eddie could respond, Frank interrupted.
“Hey, you’re on our side now,” Frank said, nudging their arms together, “Ask us your questions,”
“Oh, sorry,” Steve apologized, turning towards Frank.
Behind Steve’s back, Eddie gave Frank a grateful little smile. Sure, he was probably only being nice to Steve right now because Janet had said she was okay with him, but Eddie would take any kind of progress. Frank gave Eddie a short nod, and they settled back into their roles, continuing the game.
“With Miss Ngyet’s extra height you can all see the full mosaic. Gasping in horror you finally recognize the picture you’re looking at. A man dressed in robes that are bathed in blood, a stampede of reindeer pulling his sledge. All at once the lights turn on in the factory, blinding you. There’s an ominous laughter from behind. Ho. Ho. HO.” Eddie roared.
More light bulbs around the room as Jeff and Frank both caught on.
“You’ve gotta be kidding me,” Jeff sighed, putting his face in his hands to muffle his laughter. Eddie grabbed the mini figure sitting in front of him, standing up and beginning the monologue he had practiced in front of the mirror all week. Wayne had nearly forced him to go outside to do it after the first few days of never ending repetition.
“Your foe! A man turned God who knows the name of every child in the world, and watches endlessly. This God, who was once a benevolent overlord, loved to shower gifts upon those he deemed good, giving gentle reminders to those he saw being bad. Now he feasts upon the ‘Naughty’ alongside his favorite meal of milk and cookies,” Eddie ominously lowered his voice, coming to stand between Steve and Frank.
Steve leaned backwards and turned his head. Frank did the same.
“Is this what I think it is?” Steve whispered behind Eddie.
“Yes,” Frank whispered back.
“The demonous, the dastardly, the fat…”
Eddie thrust the minifigure down onto the table, standing back as he hollered at the top of his lungs.
“KRIS KRINGLE!”
Eddie had been absolutely, completely, 100%, right.
This was an epic one shot.
After their initial reactions to finding out they were doing battle against Santa of all people, the rest of the club dove into the campaign with glee. Eddie had taken care to create an awesome story filled to the brim with little easter eggs, and they were eating up every bit of it.
There were hypnotically enslaved elves, blood thirsty reindeer, exploding candy canes, even a section where the party had to sing Christmas songs to escape from a platoon of killer carolers.
Yeah he was biased, but Steve’s giggly rendition of WHAM’s new hit song was the best thing Eddie had ever heard in his life.
Speaking of, the biggest shock of the game had to be how well Steve was doing. Eddie had honestly expected to have to subtly take it a little easy on him, but the jock was turning out to be one of the trickiest players he had ever gone up against.
Sure, the math and the writing portion was a bit of a hiccup, but Steve’s strategic thinking was unexpectedly excellent, and he seemed to have a knack for survival. He had quickly made himself an invaluable player, and the rest had accepted him into the fold, if only for now.
And the best part of it all was how much fun Steve was having. The smile on his face was bright, utterly joyful in a way Eddie had only seen once years ago. He had seen Steve smile plenty since then, but it was always quiet, kind of hidden away, like he was scared to show how much he was enjoying himself.
But this was just…happy. Pure, clear, happy, with nothing standing in its way, and Eddie was drinking in the sight like a man in a desert who had found an oasis.
After a grueling four hours, Hellfire had finally managed to kill off the final reindeer (Vixen had gone down in a blaze of glory) and release all of the elves from their mind manacles.
There was just one foe left.
“As the not-so-jolly man with a bag gently lays his last beast on the ground, he looks up at you all with complete rage in his eyes,” Eddie said in a hushed tone, letting things get as quiet as possible before exploding into sound.
“Naughty! You are All on my naughty list!” Eddie declared, slapping his hand on the table before standing and reaching over his binder to point, “You! And You! And You! And-”
“Steve?”
Eddie paused mid monologue, his finger still hovering in the air directed at Janet. All of them turned around as one, facing their new intruder.
Little Red was in the doorway, staring back at them with big eyes. A mischievous grin quickly overtook her face and she opened the door wide, crossing her arms and smugly jutting her chin out at her babysitter.
“Shooting hoops, huh?”
“Max? Why are you here? Where are the boys?” Steve asked, quickly getting up from the table and coming to her side. The anxiety coloring his tone was unexpected, and Eddie felt himself wilt a little as all of Steve’s walls seemed to have pulled back up in a snap.
“Down the hall. We’re fine,” Max said, quickly reassuring him and dropping her act. Steve relaxed for a second, but then stiffened once more as she peeked her head around his side. She waved, and the rest of the group waved back.
“Shooting hoops,” She repeated, raising a brow, “You know, Steve, I’ve never played basketball, but it looks a lot more like Dungeons and Dragons than I expected it too,”
“How long have you known?” Steve sighed.
“That you were lying?” Max asked for clarification, “The whole time. You’re a bad liar, and Billy just couldn’t shut up about how you were benched from playing, and he was going to be the one leading the team now. I wasn’t expecting you to be doing this though. I thought you were meeting up with a girl.”
“I’ll pay you real money to not tell the others,” Steve said, completely serious.
Max tapped on her chin, a move that was so reminiscent of Janet that Eddie had to stifle a laugh. He didn’t want to call any attention to himself right now, too invested in seeing how this would all play out.
“How much?” She asked, giving him a shrewd eye.
“Five bucks?” Steve offered, sounding slightly desperate.
Max hummed, making faces as she pretended to consider it.
“Not enough,” She finally decided with a cute little shrug, sticking her head into the hallway and shouting for the boys to come.
A stampede of footsteps and hollering began in the distance and Steve groaned, shooting Max a look of utter betrayal before turning to pout at Eddie.
“Lord, help me,” Steve sighed.
“Nay, I shan't. Lord Kringle has deemed you naughty, Stefan, there is no hope for you now,” Eddie replied, shaking his head. Steve did not seem at all amused by this, but the rest of the club was chuckling, exchanging wry little grins.
“Oh, are we about to meet Harrington’s famous children?” Kaiden wondered aloud, already knowing the answer.
“Don’t,” Steve warned with zero heat in his voice, seemingly already resigned to what was about to happen. He was rubbing at his temple, his eyes shut with a look of pure exhaustion on his face.
Max patted him twice on the arm before coming over to look at the board, looking over Steve’s character sheets with glee.
“Hey Little Red,” Eddie said.
“Hi, Steve’s friend,” She replied with a smirk, “You guys are gonna have fun watching this,”
Before anyone could ask what she meant, a veritable horde of boys burst into the room. They were once again all talking over each other, but this seemed to just be the way the boys communicated. Dustin, Lucas, and Mike all stayed crowded around Steve yelling at him, while Will began to look around.
Max quietly whistled, jerking her head and catching Will’s attention. He obediently trotted over, and she showed him what she had found, both of them exchanging quiet whispers that even Eddie couldn't make out over the other kids shouting.
“Why are you not in the library?” Steve griped, managing to raise his voice above theirs.
“We finished our campaign and got bored. You’re taking forever, we’re hungry, and we want to see El,” Mike whined, crossing his arms and glaring at his babysitter.
“What are you doing anyway?” Dustin asked, trying to look around Steve.
“Nothing,” Steve said quickly, pushing Dustin’s head back in front of him, “Get out. I’ll come get you guys in like an hour, or you can walk back to your own houses,”
“Who are they?” Lucas wondered, ignoring Steve’s minor threat. Everyone in the room already knew how hollow it was, “This is definitely not the gym,”
Eddie was sure Steve had some sort of excuse, something he had cooked up to explain why he was here, but he was not eager to hear it. Sure, Eddie understood why Steve might have wanted to have something that was ‘just his’ (or, at least, he respected it), but the rest of the club wouldn’t. They would definitely think Steve was trying to hide the fact that he knew them, and that would reinforce everything Gareth was saying.
No matter what, this was not going to go down well, and would probably erase any progress that had been made.
Luckily for both of them, Will Byers decided that this was the moment to speak up.
“Steve?” Will said, catching everyone’s attention, “Are you…playing DnD?”
Tension thick as a thousand page novel blanketed them all. Dustin gasped in an extremely melodramatic fashion, and Mike blew past Steve, storming over and slamming his hands down on the table, making all of the figures tremble. Steve seemed lost for words, turning back to give Eddie a ‘help me’ look of terror.
So, Eddie did what he did best.
He caused a little chaos.
“Why yes, young small one, he is playing Dungeons and Dragons,” Eddie said with a tricky grin, loving the explosion of mayhem that came right after,

It's not a one night stand (if it turns into two) by @annanevermore | Art by @lady-lostmind
Rating: Explicit
Warning(s): No Archive Warnings Apply
Character(s): Eddie Munson, Steve Harrington, Nancy Wheeler, Robin Buckley, Henry Creel | One | Vecna, Dustin Henderson, Heather Holloway, Jeff, Gareth, Unnamed Freak, Steve Harrington's Father, Samantha Stone, Tommy Hagan
Relationship(s): Steve Harrington/Eddie Munson, Eddie Munson/Henry Creel, Steve Harrington/ Samantha Stone, Steve Harrington/Tommy Hagan
Summary: “We should stop,” Eddie continued even as he kept kissing Steve. “Why?” “Ah, you’re not into guys?” His words sounded pretty stupid even to him, Steve’s lips just on his and his tongue in Eddie’s mouth, and his body still pressed to his thigh. “Maybe you are?” Eddie said, feeling increasingly stupider. Steve glanced over, gaze trailing down to Eddie’s lips. “What do you think?” “I think you’re pretty drunk and I should let you sober up.” Steve seemed to be assessing him but didn’t respond. After a couple of seconds, he straightened his clothes and stood up, leaning down to hold Eddie’s jaw for a moment and placing a last, gentle kiss on his lips. “See you around, Munson.” Or: Eddie signed up for the “TatCon” tour very much despite the sales pitch of convention reps Steve and Robin - and absolutely NOT because of Harrington’s flirting. It’s the biggest tattoo convention in the U.S. so it’s good for business, that’s all. When Steve continues to hit on Eddie, he’s still not interested. At all. The guy has an exceedingly straight reputation, and Eddie is not going there. But Steve is a persistent man when he knows what he wants.

I'm In Control Part 23 (Steddie X You)
Tumblr media
A/N: I bare you...the conclusion! I am more than happy to return to these three if I or y'all come up with ideas :)
Warnings: Daddy Steve and Sir Eddie and all that implies (I regret nothing!), Eddie gets spicy in this one. Him and the reader fight, Smut, angst, and fluff :)
Word Count: 3331
“Steve! Eddie! No!”
You try and stop them but they are on a mission, eyes dark with anger, and lost in that protective mindset as they charge into TJ’s office.
“You can’t do this to her. She’s the best agent you have.”, Steve sternly points his index at the man. “If you need to fire anyone, fire us. She deserves to be here.”
“You’re right.”, TJ sighs. “You’re absolutely right but imagine being on the outside looking in? Can you three prove to me she didn’t give you priority roles? That anything within this past year was done purely off of profession and not just because she’s dating you?”
“You know she wouldn’t do that. You’ve known her longer than we have.”, Eddie defends.
“And those concerns are just from the outside. Since you two have become her clients, you three disappeared constantly, you walked out of a shoot last week—”
“We told you about that immediately.”
“Tell me, Steve. If you hadn’t been dating Y/N, would you both have done the job?”
“No.” When he responded with zero hesitation, your heart swooned. “Cassie Leigh is a fucking terrible person.”
“Angel…”, TJ turns to you. “I know you. They are right about that but…this looks really bad from a professional standpoint.”
“I know…”
“Plus, I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I was hurt you hid this from me.”
“I never expected this, TJ. I swear. It just—”
“I know. That’s why…”, he turns back to the boys. “She’s only suspended WITH pay. I need to think some things through and figure out what’s best.”
“If she goes, we go.”, Eddie announces as Steve nods.
“No, they don’t.” They both angrily turn their heads towards you. “This company still has your best interest in mind. Just…stay until we get this sorted out, ok?”
###########
It had been two weeks since you were suspended and it was killing you. Not just because you missed the job but because you saw it torturing the guys to. They felt like this was their fault and constantly apologized every time they caught you zoning out or hiding your tears.
Moving in with them helped ease some of that tension especially since now that they weren’t seeing you at work every day at least they got to come home to you. They hated the agent TJ assigned them. He was one of those cocky, slick types that felt like the world centered around them. To him they were just cash machines and pushed them towards any project that was sent his way without even discussing it with them.
Thankfully, Luke’s show had started filming again so they were able to focus all their energy there when they weren’t focused on you.
While you were browsing through job ads, you phone rang, giving you pause when you noticed the number.
“Hey TJ.”
“Y/N, angel…we have a problem. Eddie got arrested on Luke’s set today.”
“He what?!”, you shouted as you got up searching for your shoes. “Where’s Steve?”
“He’s at the station in the process of bailing him out. I’m trying to talk Michael into not pressing charges… talk to them, Y/N. They are out of control.”
##############
“What the fuck happened?!” You scream at them as soon the enter the front door. Eddie ignores you as he swishes past to grab a beer from the fridge. Steve sighs as he watches him, folding his arms across his chest.
“To be fair, I almost knocked the son of bitch out myself. Eddie just got there first.”
“Steve, don’t play games with me. What. HAPPENED?!”
“We went to Michael’s office today because he said he found us job. When he went into more detail, we… we told him it wasn’t something we would be comfortable with. He kept pushing so…”, he gestures to Eddie.
“So, you punched him in the face because you didn’t agree with him?” The metalhead continues not to answer as he glares into the void and chugs down more of his beverage. “You both have had disagreements with me but you’ve never taken a swing at me.”
“This was different.”
“How, Steve?! How was it different?” You angrily turn towards Eddie. “And why are you letting him speak for you again?!”
You’d be lying if you didn’t say the eyes that met yours scared you a bit. “Get out of my face, Y/N. I’m not in the mood.”
Trying to regain your composure, you reached to caress his face but he swiftly grabbed your wrist and pushed you backwards, knocking you into Steve’s chest. The man’s arms swiftly shot out to catch you, looking down to make sure you were ok.
When you saw Daddy reflecting back, you tried to reel him in and assure him. “Steve, no. It’s ok. I’m alright.” It was too late. All he saw was his baby girl that he needed to remind was safe.
“Eddie, we don’t do that. Apologize to her. Now.”
The boy chuckled sarcastically under his breath as he rose to his feet and turned to face him. “Steven Harrington, you are not my Daddy. I do not belong to you and you do NOT tell me what to fucking do.”
“Eddie…”, you squeak.
“Now YOU belong to me and as your Master, I’m telling you to shut your fucking mouth!”
“No. Right now, you are not my Master. My Sir is a confident, powerful, sexy man that I fell in love with. At this moment, all I see is an angry, pathetic little boy!”
“What the fuck did you just say to me, little girl?!”
As Eddie stepped forward so did Steve pushing you behind him. “No! We do NOT play when our emotions are heightened, right? Answer me, Ed!”
The metalhead glared between the two of you before reaching to grab his jacket. “Fuck you both.”, he spits as he heads out the front door.
##############
Eddie didn’t come home that night and it tore you apart. You knew he wasn’t thinking clearly and all you wanted was for him to be alright. After Steve told you the whole story, you decided to focus on something you could control as you sped to the agency. He tried to stop you but you were furious busting into TJ’s office with a loud bang as you slammed open the door.
“You said they were out of control. Did you know he tried to force them to do a shoot they were uncomfortable with?! They told him no but he signed them up anyway. TJ, they’ve stated numerous times, they don’t feel comfortable doing BDSM type work for the camera!”
“Y/N, listen to me—”
“No! You listen to me. This is unacceptable even if I wasn’t dating them and you know it. I’m not going to let anyone drag down their careers that they worked so hard for! There’s a reason they’ve gotten this far and it’s because they do what works for them. Michael should have trust their intuition and even if he didn’t, he had no right signing their names for a job!”
“He did what?! Y/N, I didn’t know that.”
“No, you didn’t because you are so focused on how people could possible view our relationship that you didn’t notice things that were actually happening…”, you sigh as you fold your arms over your chest.
“That right there is why she’s a good agent.” You jump when you hear Steve’s behind you as he enters TJ’s office. “And it’s not because she’s fucking us or the fact that we are in love with her. She pays attention and actually fucking cares about the people she represents.”
TJ sighs as he places his hands on his hips. “Angel, I’m not going to hire you back.” Your heart breaks as you nod and hang your head. “I’m not going to hire you back because you’re too good for this place.” He smiles when your eyes look up to find his. “I’ve taught you everything you know and then some. The rest is all you, babe. You deserve to run them and anyone else without a big boss hanging over you.”
You tackle him as your arms wrap around his neck. “Jesus Christ!”, he chuckles. “I’ll give you a month’s pay till you really get going. I’m not calling it severance because you’re not fired. You’re just…moving on to better things.”
##############
“Baby, stop.” Steve reaches over and places his hand over your knee that hadn’t stopped bouncing since you both got back home.
“Steve, I can’t…I’m worried about him. What if he got hurt or something? This isn’t like him—”
The front door opened as Eddie slunk in, his hair hanging heavily over his face. You jumped up from the couch, running to him, and immediately wrapped your arms around his waist. His arms stayed at his sides as he remained stiff in your embrace.
You pulled away, giving him a once over to make sure he wasn’t hurt before you abruptly reached out and shoved his chest.
“Where the fuck have you been?! I have been worried sick! You didn’t come home last night! You won’t answer your phone! Talk to me, Eddie!”
Steve was standing off to side as he kept a careful eye on you both. You gently pushed his hair back so you could look at his face. His vacant eyes continued to stare past you into the floor.
“Eddie?” He suddenly fell to his knees, pressing his face into your stomach as he began to cry. His fingers dug into your back as you hugged his head tightly to you. “Eddie, please. Talk to me.” You glanced at Steve, silently begging for help.
“I’m sorry, sweetheart.”
“Baby—”
“No!” He leans back as he looks up at you. “No, I’m so sorry. I…I…that fucking asshole pissed me off and then getting arrested…I wasn’t in the right place mentally. I never should have talked to you like that or pushed you. You were right. I’m a fucking pathetic, little boy.”
“Eddie, it’s ok.”
“Jesus, Y/N!”, he rises to his feet causing the other boy to move closer to you. “It’s not ok! I saw the way you looked at me! You were scared… I—”
Your palm collided with his cheek. “You’re going to hear what I have to say! Do you understand me?!” His eyes searched yours before slowly descending back to his knees.
“Yes, Miss.”
You cupped his face with your hands as you stepped closer. “You’re right. You shouldn’t have behaved that way but Eddie, that’s not normal behavior for you. I knew something was wrong and when Steve told me what happened… I wanted to fucking hit him to. He violated a boundary for you; for both of you. Baby, I am so fucking sorry you went through that but that’s never going to happen again.”
“She’s our agent again. Seems baby girl is starting her own agency.”
Eddie’s eyes shift between you both as what Steve said fully sunk in. You smile as you pull him to his feet. “You’re safe with me, Sir, and I am safe with you. Just don’t fucking disappear me on again.” You hug him again and this time his arms wrap around you. “I was so worried.”
“I’m sorry, princess. Can I make it up to you?”
“Please.”
He grinned as he lifted you into his arms and headed for the bedroom. “Come on, Harrington. You to.”
“Me? What do I need to make up for?”
“Fine. Stay out here then.”
“Nooo…”, you whine as you make grabby hands, reaching for him to follow.
Steve laughs at the sound as he trails behind and Eddie tosses you on to the bed, climbing on top of you as he kisses your neck. As soon as you lift off your shirt, his mouth descends to your chest, reaching behind you to take off your bra. Your legs wrap around his waist trying to keep him as close to you as you possibly can.
“I missed you so much. It—mmm—it felt weird without you next to me last night.”
Eddie’s lips encase your nipple, his finger trying to unbutton your pants while grinding against you.
“Where did you sleep last night?”, Steve asked.
“Van.” His mouth dipped along your stomach, tugging your jeans and panties with him down your legs.
“Eddie…” You felt a pang in your heart of him sleeping in his van out on L.A. streets, leaning up to quickly grab his chin after he took off his shirt. “Promise me you’ll never do that again. Even if you don’t feel comfortable talking to me at least tell Steve where you are.”
He saw the hurt in your eyes and it killed him all over again as he leaned forward to gently kiss your forehead. “I promise, little miss.” Eddie guided you back down with soft kisses before making you giggle as he playfully lifted your legs, yanking you closer to him.
A moan escaped you as his tongue licked a stripe through your folds. He moved slow at first, his mouth pressed just so against you but when Eddie got going it was like being transported to another world. You always loved the way he felt with his head between your legs. Unlike Steve, when the metalhead got passionate, he was still coherent and controllable but he was very focused and determined. He had one goal and it was to please you.
Your eyes squeezed shut as his lips wrapped around your clit, two of his thick fingers breaching your entrance as he pumped and curled them inside of you. You suddenly felt warmth press against your side and whimpered when you felt lips suck on your neck.
“Daddy…”
Steve’s hand caressed your skin, his fingers stopping to play with your erect nipples making your pussy clench around Eddie who had begun thrusting his own digits faster into you.
“Please…fuck…Sir, yes. Just like…like that. I…need you…please, Eddie.”
At the sound of his name, he crawled up to your side and attached his lips to the opposite end of your neck as his hand moved faster between you.
“Cum, baby. You deserve to feel good. Come on, pretty girl.” His soft, syrupy voice continued to encourage you until your hand shot down clasping over his as you came.
“Atta girl, honey. Such a good girl.”, Steve whispered as Eddie sat up to throw off his pants.
You rolled the other boy onto his back, smiling to see he was already undressed and waiting for his turn. Hovering over his firm cock, you glided your tongue over the tip, tasting the salty pre cum he already had lingering there.
Eddie came up behind you, adjust your hips and pushing one of your legs further up the mattress to he could have better access. You both groaned as he guided his dick into your dripping core, delivering slow, strong strokes as he pushed deeper into you. One of his hands clung to your hip as the other balanced on the side of the bed while his chest hovered just above your back as he watched you bob your head around his friend’s cock.
Steve mewled as he brushed your hair to side so they could both watch you take him. The vibrations from mouth as Eddie thrust harder into you had his eyes rolling back.
“F-fuck, baby girl. I can fucking feel the back of your throat. You take us both so…so well.”
You lifted your head for air, panting as the metalheads fingers slide around your thigh to reach your pussy, massaging circles against your clit.
“Yes, Sir. Jesus…that feels…”
“Tell me, princess. Tell me—mmm—how it feels.”, Eddie cooed.
“So deep…amazing…f-faster, please.”
You spit over Steve’s length, stroking him rapidly as the other man placed both palms on your side, balancing more on his knees as his own hips pounded into you at a dizzying pace.
Craning to face him, your eyes met his as his mouth fell open in silent moans.
“Can…can I cum, Sir?”
As soon as he nodded, your eyes fluttered closed, your forehead falling against Steve’s body as you came. Eddie’s arms wrapped around your front, holding you to his chest as he rolled his hips aggressively until you heard a strangled grunt and felt him warm your insides with his release.
The delicate action of him pulling out of you was countered with Steve leaning over and lifting you onto his lap. You reached between your bodies, taking his cock and sliding it into your core. His hands clung to your waist as you began bouncing on top of him, your head flying back in ecstasy.
Leaning back on your hands, you grind your lower half against him as Steve tilts forward to trail his lips along your stomach up to your chest making you whimper.
“Yes, Daddy. Ma-make me cum, baby.”
Abruptly, he wraps his arms around you, flipping you onto your back as your head hits Eddie’s tummy.
“Ow.”
You giggle as the other man smiles down at you, kissing your lips as he thrusts into you. The metalhead’s fingers run through your hair as Steve’s forehead leans against yours, his breathy whimpers fanning your face.
“Just like…that, Steve. Please. I’m…fuck…can I?”
He nodded as his rhythm quickened, the sound of skin hitting skin filling the room until your eyes closed and you clung to the back of his head as you came. As your pussy fluttered around him, you heard him groan above you as he pumped rope after rope of his spend deep inside of you.
Nobody moved except for Eddie who was still tenderly petting your head.
“I’m sorry, Y/N.”
“Eddie, you don’t have to keep apologizing.”
“No, I know. I just…this wasn’t really a great welcome home experience for you. I don’t want you to think this is common. Matt said this was a big step for you.”
You poke at Steve’s back as he jokingly whines, rolling off you before you turn around and climb on top of the other boy.
“I know this isn’t normal for you. I don’t…I don’t think you’re both going to suddenly change just because I’m here. Not in a bad way anyway.”, you smile. “He knows it’s a big step for me because I was terrified to leave home after I graduated high school. It was all I ever wanted but I was so scared of being in this ‘sinful city’ alone. Then I dated those douchebags and…” He chuckles as you shake your head and shudder. “I guess what I’m trying to say is, I never would have moved in if I didn’t trust you both. All three of us have come a long way from that night in the hotel. This one…setback…doesn’t ruin the idea of me being here.”
Eddie’s palms cup your face as he guides your lips to his.
“Now your careers…that’s a different story.” You smile as Steve comes up behind you lifting you off the boy with one arm and carries you to the bathroom.
“Why do you say that?”, the metalhead asked as he jogged up behind you two.
“If word got around that you punched an agent and got arrested that doesn’t look so hot but I think I can spin it especially since Michael dropped the charges.
“Jesus, woman. What voodoo did you do?”
“She yelled at TJ and told him what that asshole did. TJ said if he dropped the assault charge, he wouldn’t fire him for signing our names.”, Steve grinned as he guided you under the warm water of the shower.
“Which technically he didn’t. He still works for the agency…he’s just not an agent anymore.”, you beam up at him as you wrap your arms around his neck.
“So…you’re really our agent again?”
You kiss his lips before leaning back against Steve’s chest.
“Yup. I’m in control of you and all yours.”

Steve sees the ghosts of those who have died. He sees Billy, Barb, and Eddie mainly because he knew them from being involved with the upside down. He sees other spirits but learned to not focus on them. No one else knows until Dustin(?) finds a tape that plays a sound that only people with powers can hear so when the whole group is together he plays it. When he does El and Steve are affected. No one is surprised El is affected but everyone is confused when Steve is shouting for someone to turn it off. All eyes are on him when he explains he can see and talk to ghosts. “Wait…can you see barb?” Nancy said with an accusatory glare. “You could see and hear her this entire time and didn’t tell anyone?!” She was angry, yelling , and shoving Steve to punctuate every few words. Jonathan grabbed her so she would stop attacking steve. “Can you see Eddie? Is he here now!?” Dustin asked. Mike was as angry as his sister with the new realization. “What else are you hiding from us?” Max asked with a hurt expression. This was not supposed to happen, he was supposed to take this secret to the grave. “I…can bring people back.” The last bit of the sentence was said in a hushed voice but one of them heard it. “What.” A loud slap could be heard through the silence “Bring her back” said seething through teeth. It turned out the one who heard it was Nancy who was ten times more angry than before. It comes with a price i can just magic her back to life without consequence. “You can bring back Eddie! The consequence shouldn’t matter, you're just being selfish!” Mike spat out like venom. After a long time of Steve getting yelled at and Jonathan, Will, Robin, and Joyce defending Steve everyone left to go to their respective home with swirling emotions. Days pass and Steve made up his mind and went to his pool where Barb had died. “You don’t have to bring me back, after getting to know you I don’t think it's worth it.” Barb tried to convince him it's not his fault. “ You and I both know it’s more costly without the physical body.” Steve took a knife and made a cut on his wrist. As the blood dripped into the water he said the incantation. The water began to glow a bright white color along with Steve's eyes. Barb emerges from the water taking in gulps of oxygen. “I’m...I’m alive. Why did you do that?” she asked. “ I owe it to you, and Nance.” Steve replied with exhaustion. “STEVE!” Barb yelled, catching Steve as he nearly fell in the pool. “ I’m fine, I need to get Ed.” Eddie appeared next to Steve “ Harrington you need to lay down before going anywhere” Barb shrieked at the sudden voice. Turns out anyone Steve brings back is connected to him and shares his power minus the bring people back part. The next day Steve the first thing he does is go to the old Munson trailer in Forest Hills.”I’m coming with you” Barb insisted. He goes to the spot Eddie died and repeats the process. This time Steve passes out immediately after. Barb and Eddie carry him to the car and put him in bed. While Steve is sleeping his walkie went off “Guys I think there's a code red! There were 2 energy surges similar to the ones when Vecna attacked, let's meet at Steve's house! Over and out.” About an hour later everyone is in Steve’s living room. Robin was looking around to find her other half only to find he wasn’t there. She went upstairs with Dustin following behind her. There were 2 people who sat by Steve while he slept in his bed. “Barb?” Nancy whispered. “Eddie?” Dustin said after “Steve?” Robin said concerned for her best friend who now had white streaks in his hair, pale, and looked so fragile. She tried to shake him awake but he continued his slumber. “What's wrong with him, why won’t he wake up?” “He used all his energy to bring us back from the dead.” Eddie answered. “That doesn’t explain why he looks so…breakable” Dustin added “It's because he shortened his life span because you A holes decided to treat him like a selfish prick when you know he has saved all of you multiple times!”

Cas with a C CH 8
Note: Please go to the Cas with a C Chapter Select to see previous chapters and story warnings. I hope you enjoy this chapter!
Summary: The beginning of Cassie's life post Starcourt Mall
Tumblr media
For the next week or so after the Starcourt Mall incident, people started to slowly let their guard down again around Cassie. For the most part, they kept her on bed rest and away from people. Well according to them. During that time Cassie kept Eddie tucked away and out of sight when he visited. He was planning for the final session of the summer campaign he ran for his friends who stayed in town. Cassie goes through all the lines he wants her to say and acts to make sure it is perfect.
“So you railroaded them into this type of ending huh?” Cassie says with a hint of sadness in her voice. She is going to be playing a long-lost wife of the main ally of the story who thought after the amount of time she was missing that she died. Turns out she was held hostage elsewhere, cursed, and will unfortunately only reunite with him in either his death or her death. Eddie looks offended.
“No. They just failed all the rolls they needed to piece things together. You watched sweetheart.” He says as their hands locked together as they lean in the same direction as Eddie’s notebook. At this, Cassie turns a bit red and Eddie looks away. “Sorry. I guess the whole acting as a couple thing kind of slipped through there for a second.”
“No. I mean I don’t mind.” Cassie says with a laugh. She can hear his thoughts going everywhere even without having to focus on racing.
He makes an odd noise out of his mouth, but it seems pretty happy and normal for the guy according to Cassie. “Well in my opinion they still get three chances. One before the fight, one at the beginning of the fight, and one right before the end of the fight. Some people may think to do checks then especially if you play up being my dear and loving partner well enough darling.” She says with a wink. Eddie laughs at this as he writes in his notebook he uses for DM ideas. “If only you were this devoted to your studies.”
“Then we wouldn’t be graduating together Harrington.” At this Cassie gags.
“I’m not my father or my brother. I’m Cassie. The last time I was called Harrington was by Hargrove. If you want to go for something people find odd just call me Cas. I used to beat the snot out of people who did in elementary school.”
“I forgot about the pigtailed terror! That was you!”
“Yup! Never lost a fight. Never have and never will.” She says as she does her best impression of Rosie the Riveter.
“How did I forget about that?” He seems genuinely shocked.
“Because King Steve was more of a terror and made me look like a saint. Hairspray flamethrowers and all went away when big brother Steve came knocking. Sometimes with a bat.”
“Jesus I forgot about Chrissy’s hair. How were you not expelled for that?”
“Harrington money.” She says with a dry laugh.
“Remind me not to anger either of you two fluffy-haired people.”
“You mean majestic maned? I mean he uses the same brands I do to keep his style and shape.”
“Wait what?!”
“Eddie!” Cassie hears the thundering of footsteps coming up the stairs as she quickly shoves him into the closet and uses her powers to hide all signs of him. Suddenly Robin busts in with a frying pan at the ready and gives out her best battle cry.
“Robin! All good. No code reds.”
“But I heard a noise in here.” At this point, Nancy walks in and notices the stacks of movies and books that Cassie didn’t think to hide.
“Robin, I'll handle this.”
“But what if she-“ Nancy gives her a look and Robin who doesn’t know any better scampers off.
“Look. We don’t really know each other really well Cassie but if you want to have a boy over you have to hide it better. Steve would have noticed immediately. Like seriously who leaves out the books and movies you guys are watching.” She then looks over the pile. “Seems like you Harrington’s have a type and that is brainy,” Nancy says as she grabs a Lord of the Rings book which has a ton of little post-it notes sticking out of it. Cassie opens her mouth to protest but Nancy continues as she looks under the bed. “I mean I find it cute that he decided to visit you after the fire. I mean really. It shows he cares.”
“He is a friend.” Cassie then blocks the closet door with her body as Nancy tries to open it.
“Jonathan and I were “just friends” after me and your brother broke up and now look at where we are. He was a sweet awkward guy who worked his way into my heart. While I may no longer be in a relationship with your brother I still have a vested interest in seeing who finally got past the icy exterior.” Cassie is only so good at playing defense on the door and eventually, Nancy breaks through and spots the terrified Eddie Munson who is trying to make himself as small as possible. He then gives the most unsure and awkward wave imaginable as he slowly walks out.
“Surprise…. Please do not tell my brother. He already knows someone drops me off from work sometimes but nothing more. If he found out more I would have iron bars on my window.” She says as she grabs his hand as she stands next to him. Nancy still seems to be processing the fact that the town’s princess is at least friends with the town freak.
“Steve is going to kill you.”
“More accurately him but thank you for that Nancy. Now please do me and Eddie here a favor and don’t let Steve know. Please.” Cassie puts on her best pleading face and Eddie looks very confused and concerned.
“Fine. I won’t tell them, but if they ask I am not going to lie about it.”
“Deal,” Cassie says as she rests her head on Eddie’s shoulder. “Now can we please get back to planning our nerdy stuff? Eddie here has a reputation to uphold.”
“Ok.” She says a bit drawn out still weirded out as she shuts the door and Cassie immediately locks it.
“Thank god it was Nancy and not Steve.”
“Why is this a good thing?” Eddie asks, a bit skittish and heading closer to the window.
“Because Nancy will keep our secret. Not like she can post things like that to her paper. She is more into exciting stories anyway. Things with real weight. We are just two nerds.” Eddie opens his mouth to protest as he gets in his DM voice but Cassie proceeds to point to the game he was planning, the books and movies he bought, and the character sheets for her character and Eddie’s. “Two nerds. Your ‘freak’ persona doesn’t erase that.”
“Fine. I guess you win.” He keeps the DM voice as he says this.
“Like I said. Never. Lost. A. Fight.” Cassie says with a smirk as she pats where he is sitting next to her on her bed which the boy immediately flops down on and they continue to work out the encounter.
Eventually, Steve couldn’t come up with any more excuses to keep her inside on bed rest after two weeks in her room so Cassie was finally allowed to leave on the condition that she take it easy. Cassie rolls her eyes as she loads up her backpack with her notebooks, snacks, and when Steve isn’t looking, drinks. She slightly sticks out her tongue in concentration as she remembers where Steve hides his stash of beer and grabs a pack.
“Hey!” Steve comes barreling around the corner as Cassie zips up her backpack and hauls it out of the house. In the driveway is one of Eddie’s DND buddies and he waves as she runs out, but his eyes go wide as he sees Steve Harrington running out after her. She quickly throws herself through the open car window and screams at him to drive. The dude quickly hits it in reverse and takes off as Cassie pulls herself fully into the car as they see Steve get smaller and smaller.
“I thought I was going to die.”
“Oh, you were if he caught us,” Cassie says with a laugh. “So you know how Eddie claims he has to fight a dragon every time he needs his princess voice. Well, you have met the dragon.”
“Jesus.”
“Tell me about it. A bit of an overkill for a six-pack.” Cassie says as she sighs in relief that the beers didn’t burst in her bag.
“We did all of that for beer???”
“Better than stealing it from someone who actually cares. Steve is just upset that I did what he never had the guts to do.”
“And what’s that?”
“Swipe it right in front of someone and get away.” She says with a laugh as she places it next to her as she buckles up. She pats the shoulder of the kid she would later learn is named Gareth.
When Cassie and Gareth get to Jeff's basement Eddie laughs as he sees Gareth looking like he is crapping his pants as Cassie plops down her share of snacks and beers.
“I see you met the ferocious dragon,” Eddie says as he tries to make himself look beastly.
“Yep.” Cassie says popping the p. “And he was breathing fire this time.”
“Ooh. Nice one Gareth. Thank you for picking up the princess for me.”
“Never again.”
“Fair enough brave knight. It is not a journey for the weak of heart.” Cassie says, trying to imitate Eddie. Eddie seems to appreciate it as he laughs at Gareth’s confused look.
“I’d say. Last time I went there the dragon took flight for many miles and we had to lose him on the roads near Lovers Lake.”
“I never thought the King would be…”
“Like that? Welcome to having a big brother.” Cassie says with a sigh but claps her hands together as she plops herself down on the bean bag next to Eddie’s DM chair and sets up. “But let’s move on and actually make this worth it and play. I want to see how this finally ends.”
After Gareth has had enough time and a beer to shake off the rest of the boys gather around the table each with their beers in hand. Jeff offers her one and Eddie almost objects until Cassie reaches out and grabs it taking a swig. Eddie seems shocked as the rest of the boys cheer. Cassie is trying not to cough.
“Relax Eds. I’ve had a beer before. We talked about this.”
“I thought you were a little Miss Goody Two Shoes.”
“Pigtailed terror.”
“But all those words back at the bookstore-“
“Quite simply I thought you were an ass and I just wanted to prove you wrong.” Eddie looks offended. “Hey, you thought I was pretty little princess Harrington who was one of the popular kids who didn’t give a crap about any of this.” He then reluctantly nods at the statement and gestures to her to take a drink which she takes a smaller one this time. Just because she has drank in the past doesn’t mean she can handle the fizz. She winces a bit as she settles back. “Now let’s play some D&D.” The boys cheer as Eddie stands up menacingly.
And it seems to be with good reason. Cassie has remained silent but is a looming threat to the other players as they try and figure out what role she has to play in the web of the story that Eddie is weaving. Eddie leads forward the charge toward the final boss encounter with his NPC.
“The monster who killed my wife is just past this corridor and-“ At this point, Cassie places a hand on Eddie’s mouth with a glint in her eyes. The other members of Hellfire look terrified at the girl who silenced their leader.
“And up ahead in the dark, you can feel something. Lurking. You then hear the slow scraping of the claws of the beast on the ground. As you and your companions look around, that is when you see the monstrous beast in front of you!” Cassie then slams down her character on the table as Eddie sets up the other enemies. “Welcome to your final test. Don’t die too quickly.” She says in a lower tone that even causes Eddie to pause in his movements. At this point, everyone rolls and it is game on.
You would think with this being Cassie’s first time actually having a character on the board she would be timid and die off pretty quickly, but as she takes out Jeff the others start to panic. “And as she-beast launches for you, it takes a large bite out of you and-“ Eddie and her eyes go wide as they see her crit behind the DM screen. “And you feel your life force suddenly sucked out of your body and you are down.”
“WHAT?! What is this thing?” Doug freaked out as Cassie recovered and smirked.
“As you watch your friend drop, the creature shifts forms.” At this point, Cassie switches out her figure to something slowly becoming humanoid. “But it still hungers.”
“We have to kill this thing quickly before it kills again.” Eddie cries as his character charges up to grapple with the creature. Gareth then looks at Cassie and Eddie for a second like he is trying to read them.
“Is there any way I could roll to figure out the identity of the creature?” This causes Eddie to do a few long blinks.
“Intelligence check. Just going to let you know this will be a difficult roll to succeed.” Eddie says with a poker face, but Cassie looks excited. Cassie gets a look in her eyes and as the dice start to roll the lights flicker for a second and Cassie’s nose bleeds causing her to reach for the tissues Eddie put by her. The die begins to slow down until it softly lands on the 20 which causes Eddie and Cassie to look at each other in amazement as the other boys look on in excitement.
“Well. I didn’t see this one coming.” Eddie says as he looks down at the dice. He then sees the bloody nose and looks at her in suspicion.
“Suddenly as you look at the new form it seems to remind you of a portrait you have seen before. The one in the household of your dear new companion the monster hunter.” Cassie improvises and hopes Eddie will approve/go along.
“Oh shit it is the wife.”
“What are you talking about? This monster killed my wife.”
“No, this monster is your wife.”
“Charisma roll… this will be an easy roll,” Eddie says as he passes a paper to Cassie. Her eyes scan over the paper and she blushes a bit but nods subtly.  Doug rolls for it and when the die clanks onto the wooden table it reveals an 11. Cassie looks at Eddie with confusion but he nods to her.
“As the hunter slowly scans the face of the creature a flicker of recognition shows in his eyes as they look down to notice familiar markings that can be found on his wife.”
“Eliza! Eliza, can you hear me? You need to fight this!” Eddie exclaims as he shifts the mock grapple he had earlier to Cassie’s shoulders to try and shake her awake. Cassie hesitates for a second before she slams down a pretty feminine figure onto the board.
“After a few moments, the creature shifts again. This time to the familiar face of the wife.” Cassie says in her narrator's voice before she keys in her vocal cords again. “Hello? Who’s there?” Cassie asks.
“Can you not see that it is I, my dear?” Eddie asks.
“No. I can’t see. I can only smell the gore. Your pleasant smell. It’s gone.” Eliza says as she wanders around blind. Eddie then rolls his eyes before grabbing her hand.
“Well then let me guide you out of here.” At this point, the other members of the party look into the scene in shock. Eddie then takes over as he guides the boys back to the manor of his character. They start tying up loose ends in the campaign and Eddie continues with his condescending tone of a noble that he adopted for his character. Cassie and Eddie are still holding hands as the evening draws to a close.
Eddie offhandedly mentions that the husband and wife kiss and Jeff laughs.
“So that’s the one line huh?” At this Cassie and Eddie look at each other. Cassie’s heart races a bit and she can feel her cheeks redden. Cassie then shrugs as Eddie goes wide-eyed as she quickly and gently gives him a peck on the cheek. Eddie seems to just go off into his own mental headspace and stare intensely at the wall across from him. She can hear his thoughts going wild.
“Nope. The line is much further than that.” Cassie says with a smirk as Eddie seems to be processing. The other boys are laughing at Eddie’s reaction while Cassie’s heart rate speeds up. At this point, the duo notices they are still holding hands and violently/dramatically separate causing the boys to laugh more.
For the next hour or so between cleaning up from the session, the boys goof around as Cassie chimes in every now and then.
“So we still have that gig for this week right?”
“Bev said we should be good to go. It’s one of her fifty-cent beer nights so be ready.” Eddie says as he lays across the couch just out of reach from Cassie who is still sitting tall.
“You guys are playing at the Hideout this weekend?” Cassie squints as she faintly remembers the name Bev from her time in Eddie’s memories.
“You know about Corroded Coffin?” Doug seems shocked.
“Oh! I forgot to tell you guys. Remember the Ellen Ripley?” Eddie then reaches over to ruffle Cassie’s hair up to match how it looked that night. Of course, Cassie tries to block him as he does so trying to protect her precious hair.
“Stop it, Eddie! Don’t touch my baby!” Cassie cries out as they tumble off of the couch. Cassie ends up landing on top of Eddie. Her eyes widen in surprise from the sudden rush and then the feeling of his hand ruffling her hair.
“Oh shit! You were the Alien fan?”
“Why is everyone so surprised?” Cassie whines as she tries to fix her hair. As revenge, she decides to use Eddie’s stomach as a seat looking around at the others as she plants her feet on the ground. Eddie seems content and even adjusts himself to get comfortable, with his legs still on the couch.
“You don’t seem the type.” Jeff awkwardly smiles as he watches his leader accept his fate. Cassie leans back and plants her arms on the carpet floor.
“Your friend’s female Dungeon Master voice who also is now your illustrator apparently doesn’t do nerdy shit?”
“Ok fair.” Gareth seems to get on board with nerdy Cassie quicker than the others. Probably due to the dungeon escape pre-session.
“Anywho let me know when you guys are going. I may want to listen for a bit. Seems pretty cool.”
Cassie can feel the surface emotions of the group throughout the afternoon and evening slowly turn from suspicion to a reluctant acceptance. She is relieved as she feels this and the slight tension she is keeping in her shoulders. For the first time in a while, she feels at peace. She doesn’t always have to use her powers to listen in. She can finally turn it off. For the first time in a long while she can think without hearing anyone else do the same. How is this happening? Cassie must have been making a face because Eddie quirks an eyebrow at her as he reaches onto the counter for some chips to shovel into his mouth.
Cassie was planning on leaving soon after the DND session ended, but plans changed, and early into the morning where she ended up curled up on the couch sharing a blanket with Eddie. At this point her brain is dead and she can’t process much beyond pretty colors and people on the screen. It feels nice. Not constantly on alert. She smiles to herself as she sinks into the couch and blankets, taking more for herself.
“Hey blanket hog. I want some too.” Eddie grumbles trying to steal some back.
“But I’m cold…” She mumbles sadly as she tugs at the blanket trying to keep the icy feeling away. She hasn’t felt warmth for a while and she is not going to let noodle arms take it from her. She looks at him with pleading eyes. “Please…”
“I’ll fold just this once.” Eddie then tugs at the blankets causing her to scoot closer. “Sike.”
“Ass.” She mumbles as she goes and leans on his shoulder. At least if she has to share a blanket she may as well get a pillow out of it too. She can feel nerves coming from him as he taps to an unknown rhythm with his left hand which is the one on the opposite side of her. Cassie smiles to herself as she gets cozy on his shoulder and pretends to watch the movie. In reality, she uses this first sense of peace in a while to get some proper sleep.
“Hey, Mr. Peter!” A young Cassie cries out as she runs over to the man. He has his back turned to her. His burned and tattered white outfit has slowly started to wear away. Underneath it is more corrupted-looking flesh making him look less and less human each time she visits her friend.
When she gets to the other side of him she can see his face display a look of horror.
“Mr. Peter! Wake up! The Spider put you in a nightmare again.” Cassie says as she gently shakes Peter. When she sees that isn’t working she turns around to the giant shadows in the form similar to a spider.
“Spider! Can you please let Mr. Peter out?” All she gets in response is the sound of swirling wind and particles whipping around. “I really don’t want to do that.” The particles get excited as she says this. Cassie sighs as she holds up her right hand in a sort of crushing motion towards Peter.
At first, nothing happens. She then feels a rush of power through her as she sees a few particles fly out of Peter and into her outstretched hand. They slowly start gathering and forming the cluster of a small dog. Cassie uses her other hand to keep its shape as she continues to gather more. While the rush feels amazing there is also a twinge of something… wrong.
Eventually, Cassie can draw enough away that Peter forces the rest of it out.
“Thank you, Cassandra.”
“No problem Mr. Peter.” He looks annoyed at this name but then sighs.
“What are you doing here? Don’t you have school?”
“Yes, but I felt your fear and got worried. I know the Spider and you sometimes get into fights.” He then looks confused.
“You can feel that from our dimension?”
“Yeah! I mean I can kind of feel… everyone. It really hurts my head and it won’t turn off. That includes you.” Peter then looks at her for a second.
“So you lied about the reason for your arrival.”
“Not fully. I did feel your fear Mr. Peter, but sometimes the noises of people’s thoughts can be a lot so-”
“You come here for a break.” He looks at her with pity as he gently taps her head. “But that doesn’t explain how you can still be aware of me even in another dimension.”
“I think it is the Spider. I can feel things through it. Like another set of eyes and hands.” Cassie says as she gently touches what is currently a compass hidden away in her jacket. She then feels a cold knife in her brain. She sees a flash of her father appear and fear grips her heart for a moment, but then she thinks about her brother and the two of them playing basketball together while listening to music and it goes away. “Spider I am not falling for that one again.”
Younger Cassie does not see Peter wipe his nose or the scowl on his face.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cassie wakes up to the sound of chirping birds and snoring. When she does she jumps up, or rather attempts to before she is stopped by something. She feels a weight on her shoulder and a slight wet spot on her head as she identifies the location of her binds.
Eddie Munson. Apparently, he fell asleep during the movie too, and thought her head was the perfect little place to nap. And slightly drool on. When Cassie tries to move the deadweight stops her altogether from being able to lift her head or wiggle out. She continues to try and struggle but each time she does it feels like a boa constrictor around her tightening down on her. Eddie grumbles as she tries to move.
“Five more minutes.”
“My brother is going to kill me for staying out. He already was going to kill me for the six-pack.” She harshly whispers back. As he hears her voice he makes a panicked noise as he scrambles back trying to give her space but just ends up tumbling over the side of the couch with a soft thud.
“Shit! We gotta go!” He whispers loudly as he grabs her hand and guides them out with minimal effort, but not without a few stumbles over some randomly placed garbage on the ground making him twist around. Somehow the two succeed at not waking up the others as they creep out the door.
As Cassie and Eddie speed through Hawkins, they blast music and try to wake up.
“Is he really that bad?”
“Not if you are me, Batman.” She says as she notices the bat tattoos. She didn’t really notice before. Probably because she thought she was going to die all summer but now she can see. Like really seeing everything around her. “But for you yeah…” Cassie then looks at her shoes that she shuffles around. “Our dad kinda told us to stay away from people like you.”
“What?”
“Yeah. Not sure if it is the poor thing or…” Cassie contemplates her next word. “Family stuff, but yeah.” Cassie then sighs. “Our dad is an ass though so fuck him.” She leans over to him and puts an elbow on his shoulder. “If I would have followed that advice I would have missed out on hanging around the coolest guy ever.”
“You’re gonna make me blush Sweetheart.” He is clearly trying not to look over at her and focus on the road. “You are going to be ok right?”
“Yeah. Steve likes to sleep in late, especially when those things can’t get you in the sun easily.” She cuts herself off. “You know what. You already know that and more so.”
“I wasn’t talking about that. I was talking about you and the weird magic shit.” Eddie gives a look of suspicion. “And if you are going to use it to game the system again.”
“Oh.” Cassie then laughs. “All good up here. In fact better than ever.” She then notices something. The feeling sensor she couldn’t turn off is silent again. “I don’t constantly hear thoughts and feelings anymore.”
“Did you lose your powers when they closed the gate?” Eddie says the word gate unsure. She told him things secondhand during their time together in her recovery.
“No, but I think the constant on powers may have been due to something beyond that thing. Maybe the Mind Flayer wanted to see how good my powers were or something?” Cassie shrugs as she changes the station with her powers due to the slight static. “But I don’t know and I don’t care. I’m free!’ She then leans out the window next to her and laughs as they race through Hawkins.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When they arrive Cassie has Eddie drop her off a street away. Cassie gives a mock salute as Eddie guns it away like a bat out of hell. Cassie smiles to herself for a few moments, but as she gets closer to her house her stomach starts to twist into knots. The air around it is suffocating with fear making her queasy and almost double over. After holding her head for a few moments standing still and getting her bearing she marches on to the back of the house.
As she scrambles up to her window to open it her eyes soften as she sees her brother asleep. He has set up a corner in the room on one of the chairs she uses at her desk to study. He has his arms crossed in the usual disapproving look but his features were soft as he slept away. Tucked away next to him is his infamous bat somewhat ready to go.
Cassie uses her powers to slowly open the window and climb inside to muffle most of the sound that the break-in would cause. Unfortunately, that is not enough as she lands with a thud. Quickly Steve shoots awake and grabs the bat, trying to locate the source of the noise.  When he sees his sister he gives a frustrated sigh and puts down the bat
“Jesus Christ I could have hit you with this thing Cassie! Where the hell have you been?”
“Out.”
“Out where? I called everyone and no one threw a party where there was beer last night.”
“Eww. You sound like Mom.” Cassie throws her backpack next to her bed and sits down in it.
“That didn’t answer my question.”
“It doesn’t matter.”
“Yes, it does. What if there is another weird thing happening and I don’t know where you are.”
“I’ll be fine. I can handle myself, Steve.” She puts her hands on her hips in a sort of power pose. “Besides, while you were dealing with Russians my friends and I were handling the weird ass possessed people.”
“What?” Steve looks at her shocked as she realizes she didn’t actually talk about her experiences over the summer with him.
“Shit, I really didn’t want to go into this Steve.” She sighs like she is letting out a breath of air she had been holding in. “But you forced my hand. That night my friend and I went to the movies we got jumped. By the hoard. If I didn’t get the knife and cut us free we could have been one of those things, Steve. When I say I get it trust me when I say I do. I can handle myself.” She digs into her bag and fishes out the switchblade she used to cut her and Eddie free. “But we got nothing to worry about Steve. The gate is closed. That thing is gone. We can just move on. I can be a normal-ass high school and when I graduate I can get the two of us out of Hawkins. Away from our parents.”
Steve looks surprised when she brings up her plans for the future. His nervous energy is still around, but it is no longer suffocating.
“You would put up with me?”
“Fuck yeah, loser. Oh yeah. You would have to be able to deal with my friend too. He is coming with.”
“He?” Cassie curses to herself as she realizes her mistake. She sits down for what she imagines is going to be a long talk from her brother. Turns out she was right.

Tumblr media
Your first day at Hawkins’ high was a disaster. You dreaded the fact that you had to move because of your father’s work. It wasn’t fair that you wouldn’t be graduating with your best friends. Instead, you had to graduate with a bunch of strangers. How were you supposed to make any good connections during your senior year? It wasn’t a good first day; no, not one bit.
It didn’t help that everyone stared at you, and lots of people gave you funny looks. You barely could find your way around the school. Nobody wanted to sit with you at lunch. Your classmates would all make fun of your accent too. You tried to conceal it a little bit, but it wasn’t hard for them to tease it out of you. You felt like crying and just running away. It was becoming so fucking tough to even just cope with this being your first day.
But it’s when Jason and his goons come around at the end of the day, that’s when it all hits you. You are different from these kids. They don’t care about you and none of them will.
“Hey there, darlin’.” Jason mocks your accent, and you look down at your feet.
“Leave me alone. I didn’t do anything to anyone.”
His goons laugh, and soon Jason is continuing to mock your accent. You wish you could just disappear. It’s so unfair to have to deal with this. You figured that someone who was of so much importance to this school would try to be nice to the new kid. Tears stung your eyes and you fought back the rage that was building up in your gut. It really kills you inside to know that you’ll never have any more connections.
“Hey, dickhead! Don’t you have anything better to do?” A voice calls from down the hall. You all turn to see who’s calling out.
You weren’t sure if this man was an angel, but all you know is that he saved you. Jason backs off and immediately goes up to the guy in question. You can’t take your eyes off the guy, who has such big hair and big eyes. He eyes you for a moment, then he smirks when Jason comes over to him.
“Ahhh, you two would make a perfect couple. The freak and the country bumpkin.”
“Why don’t you just piss off and go throw your dumb balls? She didn’t do anything to you, and neither did I.”
Jason frowns at the guy’s words. He thinks about it for a moment before deciding that neither of you are worth his time. He calls to his goons and they all walk off. You get up from the bench and decide to leave the school, but your name is being called. You turn to see that it’s the guy who stood up for you.
“What do you want? You want to lay in on me now too?”
He smirks, “Of course not. I want to make sure you’re okay.” He walks over to you and he places his hand on yours. There’s immediately an electric feeling between the two of you.
“I’ll be okay. Thank you.”
“No problem. You’re in a few of my classes, right? I’m Eddie Munson.” His smile was so infectious.
From that moment on, you and Eddie became inseparable. He would take you everywhere in Hawkins and show you the best places to hang out. He even showed you how to play D&D and you became a member of the Hellfire club. But you never expected to fall for Eddie. He had just been a kind soul to stand up for you, but the more you spent time with him, the more you found yourself falling for him.
Today was hard. It reminded you of your first day. You were trying so hard to hold it all together when Jason stopped you in the hall. His goons are all around the two of you, and you wonder if this time Jason will actually hit you. You’re a little scared considering he had been leaving you alone for the most part.
“Look guys, it’s our little country bumpkin. I guess you lost your accent, didn’t you?” His tone is teasing and mean.
“Get bent, Jason! I’m so sick and tired of you!” You shout, pushing him away from you. Jason scowls and soon he’s pressing you up against the wall.
“I’m not done with you. You think just because that freak is your friend that you’re safe. Well you’re not,” Jason explains, his hot breath hitting you in the face. He couldn’t be any closer if he even tried.
“Get off of me!” You cry out, hoping to catch someone’s attention. It’s no use, Jason is going to have his little fun right here.
It’s not long before he’s slamming you harder against the wall, and his hand comes out to slap you. But before it even hits you, you feel the weight of Jason being pulled off of you. His goons are all howling at the scene unfolding before all of you. Eddie is on top of Jason, and he’s laying into him. Your eyes grow wide as you realize that Eddie is beating up Jason just for you. Your heart swells at the bravery.
“Just get lost, Jason. Leave us both the fuck alone!” Eddie finally spits out, his knuckles a little bloody. Jason looks shocked.
“Whatever. You’re both freaks! You deserve each other!”
Jason’s goons help him up, and they all leave. You’re left there, speechless at what’s going on. You never thought that Eddie would hit Jason, but you’re happy he was here to save you once more.
“Hey, you okay?” Eddie asks, and he comes up to you. His hand cups your cheek and he’s inspecting your face.
“He didn’t hit me. I’m okay.”
Eddie smiles so sweetly, “Good. I’m glad. If he would have hit your pretty face, I would have killed him.”
You blush, “Come on, Eddie. It’s no big deal. You know Jason hates me because I’m a country girl. These kids don’t understand me.”
Eddie’s eyes are so filled with different emotions. But you can tell there’s a lot of pain there. He sighs softly before cupping your face and pulling you closer.
“You have no idea how much you mean to me, do you?” You try to protest, but he only quiets you with a simple, sweet kiss.
Your knees feel weak and your mind is swirling with all kinds of thoughts. You swear your heart is about to burst out of your chest. You try to steady yourself, but Eddie wraps an arm around your waist to pull you forward.
“Baby, you drive me crazy.” Eddie breathes when he finally pulls away.
“Don’t tease me like that,”
He chuckles, “I am not teasing you. You drive me crazy, my little cowgirl.”
And with that, Eddie takes your hand in his and he walks you out of the school. It doesn’t matter what happens next, you think to yourself, because you’ll always have Eddie there with you.

Lover Of Mine
Tumblr media
“Everyone wants something in life, Stevie.” Eddie says with a soft sound from his spot on Steve’s left as he drove them up the old quarry road. One of Corroded Coffin’s demo CDs playing over the van’s old radio. “So what do you want?”
This isn’t the first time they hung out; They started hanging out a few days after the mall fire that killed Billy and a bunch of other people almost a year ago. Steve kept having nightmares and couldn’t take it so he asked the metalhead to help. It became a weekly thing. Every Friday night they’d go up to the top of the old quarry road and smoke, talk, watch stars, and just burn off the shit of the week.
“I want to stop feeling lonely even when I’m surrounded by people. To be truly happy. To fall in love.” He says after thinking about it for a few moments.
“Have you not been in love?” he asks, glancing at him. Maybe they had more in common than he thought.
“I thought I was, but now that I think about it I don’t think so. I think what I thought was love was just an obsession with what was expected of me.” He says and Eddie laughs.
“It wouldn’t surprise me, Stevie. What does your love story look like?” He asks as he parks and goes to the back to open the doors and climb in. Steve followed and sat on the small air mattress that Eddie put back there to make their smoke sessions comfortable.
Eddie is already lighting a joint and passes it to him coughing slightly.
“I’m not high enough to answer that question.” he says and Eddie nods as Steve takes a hit, coughing at the burn in his lungs.
Eddie chuckles and reaches back up front, turning off the radio before he takes another hit from the joint between Steve’s fingers.
Steve looks at the joint then at Eddie before shrugging and taking another hit. For some reason Eddie brought Steve a sense of peace that he hadn’t found anywhere else. He feels calm and relaxed even before they smoke when he’s with the curly haired man.
“You’re staring, Harrington. What is it?” Eddi asks with a soft laugh. If Eddie was honest the way Steve was staring at him made him feel anxious, but not in a bad way.
“I like being around you, Munson.” He admits after a long while. That’s another thing he liked about Eddie. He didn’t push for an answer. He didn’t expect him to have his answers immediately. He didn’t expect…anything from Steve.
“Really now?” He asks softly as he looks at Steve. He just looks at him for a few moments. He had always found Steve beautiful. At first he thought that was a normal thing, but when he told Wayne about it Wayne explained that it wasn’t a normal thing, but it wasn’t wrong. For a man raised in the south in the 50s he was very progressive. “I like hanging out with you too, Steve. You’re one of the few that doesn’t see Eddie ‘the freak’ Munson.”
“I’m truly sorry for everything Tommy did to you…and me.” he says, sighing. “I know I didn’t do anything, but I didn’t stop him either so I’m just as guilty.” Steve says looking down.
"Don’t worry about it man. You were a dumb teenager. You've changed since then and realized how fucked up your actions were." Eddie says laughing. "Let it go. Forgive yourself man. I was never mad at you." He says leaning over to take another hit from the joint between Steve's fingers this time he had to actually touch his lips to his fingers. Eddie held his breath and went back to rolling a second joint.
Steve couldn't believe how soft his lips were or how forgiving this guy was. Steve really wanted to kiss him and the thought made him panic. So Steve finished the joint and wiped his palms on his jeans.
Eddie held out the second lit joint before he began playing around with the guitar he keeps in his van for these nights, “What’s wrong, Stevie? You’ve gotten quiet again.” he says as he strums softly.
“Why do you come out here every Friday with me? You could just give me the weed, teach me to make a joint, and let me be on my own.” Steve asks, looking at him.
“Because…every Friday I get a friend my age that doesn’t worship me or see the freak.” he says shrugging. “I’m just Eddie for a few hours and I like it.” He refused to add that Steve felt like home to him neither one high enough for the implications of those words.
“Oh.” Steve says, nodding as he takes another hit on the new one.
They’re halfway through with it when Steve gets a brilliant idea on how to get Eddie’s lips on his. “Have you ever shotgunned before?” He asks him and Eddie looks at him in shock.
“I have…once. Why do you want to shotgun, big boy?” he asks, watching him. God Eddie hopes he’ll say yes and let him kiss him.
Steve wants to say yes. He wants that more than anything, but instead he feels himself shaking his head, “I was just curious.” What a dumbass he thought as he holds the joint out to Eddie before he crawls to the cooler and grabs a soda and then the bag of doritos. He doesn’t stay sitting up long choosing to lay beside Eddie with his head towards the back doors of the van so he could see the stars.
Eddie had one of those battery operated lanterns hanging from the roof which gave off just enough light for Steve to see his face. He was handsome with the type of eyes that could convince you to do anything, but Eddie didn’t seem to understand just how beautiful he was.
If he could ever muster the courage that’s the first thing he’d tell him followed by how much he means to Steve.
“You’re staring again Harrington.” he says before looking at him with a soft smile as he puts the guitar on the wall again before laying by him on the air mattress.
Steve took another hit on the joint, holding it before he exhaled. "You're a beautiful man, Eddie Munson." He says passing the joint to him.
"You're high, Steve Harrington." He laughs before putting the joint in between his lips and filling his lungs with the smoke. He holds it for a moment before exhaling.
"Perhaps, but I think it when I'm not high as well." He says softly as he turns his head to look at him. He wasn’t surprised to see Eddie staring at the roof since he was laying on his back.
“Steve…don’t do that to me.” he says softly before holding the joint out.
“Don’t do what?” He asks softly. He was confused as to what Eddie meant. He was being genuine with his feelings and Eddie seemed…sad about it which just made the confusion worse. Had he read the signals wrong.
“Don’t give me hope that you like me when you don’t. It’s not fair to me.” He says quietly, closing his eyes as Steve takes the joint.
Steve leaned over and kissed him hesitantly; He couldn’t put his feelings into words yet, but he could put them into action. He was pleasantly surprised when Eddie kissed back a hand going to his waist to pull him closer; fingers with rings digging into a strong back
Eddie had been wanting to kiss Steve Harrington since he helped him fix a bloody nose in the bathroom after Tommy beat him up in junior year.
Steve breaks it first, but not in a rush to get away in a rush to check if Eddie was ok with it.
“You really are a dingus. Of course I’m ok with it, Harrington.” he says before pulling him back down to kiss him again.
They spent the night kissing, smoking, and finally sleeping. Eddie slept better than he had in so long. He dreamt of red skies and bats, but still woke up feeling refreshed.
Steve on the other hand dreamt everyone had found out he liked boys and that they chased him and Eddie out of town for kissing. Which led to a very stressful night for him.

Hey @dontfeeltoohot :) I got you for @softsnzstuff secret santa! (edited to fix the @ thing not working 😵‍💫)
I decided to try my hand at writing Edissy for the first time because I don’t feel like there’s enough content of them out there. It’s my first time writing them though, so idk if it was my smartest move! I really really hope you enjoy it tho!
!!MINORS DNI!!
~
Chrissy always looks forward to coming home to the apartment she shares with Eddie at the end of the day, but today she’s even more excited than usual.
She’s been on a business trip for five long days now, and she was so busy that she barely had a minute of free time to even call her boyfriend the entire time.
She hates business trips more than anything. They’re stressful, and she doesn’t want to be clingy, but she misses Eddie when she’s away. They’re luckily not a common thing, but even the odd trip or two every year is too much in her opinion.
She eagerly pushes the door open and sets her bags down in the entrance. Usually, she’d take them to her room first, but she figures she put all the luggage away properly after she’s seen Eddie.
“Hey, I’m home,” she calls out softly, but there’s no response, which is strange.
Eddie usually greets her right as she comes in the door when she gets home from trips like this, even if it’s the middle of the night or early in the morning when he really should be sleeping.
She can hear his music playing softly from their stereo, which is also unusual. Eddie typically plays his music so loud that they sometimes get noise complaints from the landlord. It’s almost unnerving to hear the familiar sound of guitar playing so quietly.
Her lips pull down into a slight frown.
“Eddie?” she calls again, a little louder this time, and looks around, wondering if he stepped out to get dinner or something. Maybe he didn’t realize she’d be home so early, or lost track of time. It’s not as if he actually has to greet her every time she comes home from a trip, he just usually chooses to.
She decides that must be it- he probably went out with his friends and forgot she was getting in this evening. Or thought she wouldn’t be home until late. He’s always teasing her about her terrible luck with planes getting delayed.
She closes the front door and heads for their little living room, going to turn off the music that Eddie must have forgotten when he went out or something.
As she flips it off and the music goes quiet, she hears a soft sound from the couch and jumps in surprise. She spins around to look and finds Eddie laying there.
He’s bundled up in a thick pile of blankets and curled up so small that she almost didn’t notice him. His breath comes out in soft snores and the coffee table is littered with used tissues.
He looks awful, and Chrissy softens immediately.
She moves to his side, and Eddie shivers a little in his sleep, which tugs at her heartstrings and worries her because it isn’t cold in their apartment and Eddie is bundled up in at least three blankets.
She reaches down and brushes his bangs from his forehead, her frown deepening when as she notes they’re damp with sweat. Concern sits heavy in her chest as she presses the back of her hand to his clammy forehead.
Heat radiates off it in waves, and she frowns, “Oh Eddie...” It’s not bad enough that it’s dangerous, but it’s enough that she knows he must be feeling just awful.
He stirs at her touch, “Hmm? Chrissy?” he sounds confused, and she shushes him.
“Yes it’s me,” she assures him, running a hand over his cheek comfortingly.
He blinks up at her, “You’re.. snff… back from your trip?”
She nods, “I just got home. You didn’t tell me you were feeling bad or I would’ve tried to come sooner.”
She doubts her boss would have approved a request to come home early, but she can’t stand the idea of Eddie lying here all by himself while he’s so sick.
She wonders if he’s been taking proper care of himself- eating and drinking plenty, or if he’s just been curled up on the couch this whole time. Maybe if she’d known she at least could have gotten Robin or Steve to drop a care package off for her.
Eddie shakes his head again, reaching up to rub his nose “No, ‘m fine. You.. hhh…hh…” his breath wavers, and he trails off for a moment before he gives a little shake of his head, “Your work’s important-hh… Didn’t wanna snddff worry you on your trihhp.”
Chrissy huffs at that, brushing Eddie’s hair out of his face and pressing a quick kiss to his forehead, “It’s not as important as you.”
Eddie looks like he’s going to protest, but his eyes glaze over. His gaze looks distant, and his breath hitches. He sniffles a few times and pulls back from her.
“hh-Scuhhse me,” he manages as he turns away and brings a fistful of the blankets to his nose, “Hihh-hh.. HIHnNGXttshhieww TsshhChiieww!! ehh-hihh… ehHGXTsshheww- HiHTScchhhew… sndff snffff…”
He groans as the fit trails off, lowering the blankets and shooting her a watery apologetic glance. Chrissy cuts in before he can start apologizing.
“Bless you, that’s some cold you managed to get huh?”
He shrugs, and then gives an embarrassed nod, “I’m pretty sure snnnrffSnfff I can blame Henderson for this one,” he says as he shifts, going to sit up more on the couch.
As he moves, the blankets he was wrapped in fall to his lap, revealing that he’s wearing one of Chrissy’s old cheer jackets from high school.
Chrissy isn’t expecting the way her heart leaps at the sight, but it does. She’s worn Eddie’s jackets plenty of times, and she enjoys that, but she loves seeing him in hers as well.
He seems to notice her staring, and looks down at the jacket.
His eyes widen, and while his cheeks were already red from the fever, they somehow get even redder.
“Sorry, I probably got germs on your snndff jacket,” he admits, looking down at his lap, “I just snff … missed you,” he admits.
She sits with him, wrapping him in her arms, “Don’t apologize, it’s cute. Besides, I think it looks better on you,” she teases lightly, kissing Eddie on the cheek.
He pulls away as much as he can, “Chrissy, I snrrfff don’t wanna get you sihhck..hh ssnff”
She rolls her eyes at him fondly, “Well I missed you too, so I think I’ll risk getting a cold to spend time with you.”
Eddie opens his mouth to argue, but she gives him a determined look and he just sighs, accepting defeat. He knows how stubborn she can be when she’s really got her mind set on something, so he lets Chrissy pull him closer. She combs her hands over his hair softly as they settle into the couch.
“Sorry I wasn’t hh.. awake to snff.. greet you when you got home snnNdffsnff.” He says after a moment, guilt clear in his voice.
Chrissy lets her head rest on his shoulder, “Eddie, I don’t expect you to greet me when I get home, especially when you’re feeling bad.”
He shakes his head a little, “I know, but I-hh.. I want you to snff-hh.. to feel special. You deserve ihhht.”
Chrissy tsks at him, “And you deserve to rest when you’re feeling bad Eddie, now stop apologizing over nothing,” she kisses him on the side of his face, “Besides, I feel special just being here with you. I just wish you weren’t feeling so bad.”
Eddie stubbornly shakes his head, and looks off to the side, “I feel fine, just a little under the weather.”
She just gives him a look at that, “Your fever says otherwise Eds.”
He purses his lips, “It’s not thahh.. that bad… hhsnnff.”
“If you say so,” she hums, her voice clearly unconvinced, “but I want to take care of you either way.”
She continues combing her hands over the top of his hair for a few moments, before asking, “Now tell me, have you eaten at all today?”
Eddie gives her a guilty look that tells her all she needs to know, “...I had some…hh… some…” he trails off. His nose wrinkles and he gives it a small rub that clearly brings him no relief before he brings his hands up to his face again.
“Ughh.. Sorry Chris, ‘m gonna snee…sneeze agaihhn- hh,” his eyes flutter shut and he inhales sharply before shuddering into another small fit of sneezes, “HiHHtSChhiew- HiHhGTSchhIEww… HehSchhieww… hhsnfff… snff.. Hhh.. hh’IHHshhh!!”
He rubs desperately at his nose, sniffling thickly. Chrissy reaches for a box of tissues Eddie had sitting on the end table and plucks a few from the box, passing them to her boyfriend.
He takes them with a grateful look and wipes at his nose.
“Thadgks Chris,” he says through thick congestion before turning to blow his nose a few times. He grimaces, adding them to the pile of used tissues that’s accumulated around him.
She gives him a soft smile and waits a long moment to see if he’ll resume answering her question. He seems content to let it drop, but she’s less willing.
“So I’ll take your silence to mean you haven’t eaten today.”
Eddie winces, “I had some coffee this morning.”
Chrissy wonders how this man can be so doting on her when she’s sick and then try to sustain himself on nothing but coffee and spite when he feels bad.
“Alright, I’m gonna skip the lecture for when you’re not too feverish to understand it, and go get you some soup and water okay. Have you taken any medicine yet?”
Eddie shrugs, “I had some snff Tylenol this morning, but sndffsnf it’s been a while.”
She nods, weirdly happy about his answer. Of course, she wants Eddie to get some medicine in his system, but if he had this kind of fever after taking something it would be concerning.
“I’ll get you some and bring it out to you okay, you just get some rest,” she presses a kiss to his forehead and stands.
Eddie shivers at the loss of her body heat and wraps himself in the blankets again. Chrissy wishes she could just stay at his side and hold him until he’s better, but he needs medicine, water, and food.
So she hurries to grab him some water and Tylenol, wanting to get his fever down as much as possible.
She’s only gone for a moment, but by the time she gets back to the couch, Eddie is half asleep again.
She carefully puts her hand on his shoulder and lightly shakes him awake, “Hey Eddie, can I have you take these for me?” she presses two Tylenol into his hand, and he blinks blearily up at her.
 “Snff… huh?”
She runs a comforting hand over his shoulder and presses the water into his other hand, “Come on Eds, it’ll help you feel better. Can you take it for me?”
Eddie blinks at the medicine and then looks at her again, giving her a small nod and taking the medicine. He takes another sip of the water and then holds the glass awkwardly, clearly more than a little out of it.
Chrissy sees his expression start to grow distant and she hurriedly takes the glass, just in time for Eddie to hurriedly hold his hand up, “hh-ihHHShhH- hh’SsCHhhiew!”
He only halfway manages to catch the spray, but Chrissy just offers a quiet, “Bless you,” as she sets the water down on the end table with Eddie’s tissues.
“Sorry Chris,” he mumbles, and she shakes her head.
“Nothing to apologize for love,” she grabs a tissue from the box and leans in to wipe Eddie’s nose for him.
His face grows bright red, “I can do that, you don’t need to-”
She interrupts him, “I know that, but I want to.”
He can’t really argue with that, so he just lets her tend to his nose for a moment before she pulls away. “I’m gonna go make you some food now okay. You get some rest.”
Eddie nods with another small sniffle.
Before heading for the kitchen, she stops to turn Eddie’s music on again. While the heavy guitar and intense vocals would never help her rest, she knows it will be a comfort to Eddie, so she turns the volume low and lets Judas Priest play.
She hopes getting some actually nutritious food into his system will help his body fight the illness, so she goes to the kitchen to search for some canned chicken noodle soup.
She wishes she could make something fancier than just canned soup, but she’s not actually a great cook. Most are surprised to learn that Eddie actually does most of their cooking when they aren’t eating out. Her lack of skill in the kitchen was always something her mother chided her for when she was young, but Eddie is actually a decent cook, and she’s glad to let him most of the time.
She can still cook well enough to pull something together, but canned soup will have to do.
She pops her head into the other room to check on Eddie periodically as she prepares it. He falls in and out of sleep the entire time, his soft snores and sniffles echoing through their apartment.
When she finally brings the soup out to him, the Tylenol seems to have at least started to kick in, because he looks more aware of what’s going on.
“Thanks Chris,” he says as he takes the bowl, “You didn’t have to make me dinner. I know you hate cooking.”
Chrissy helps him sit up all the way and gives him a small smile as she sits at his side, “I don’t really mind cooking, it’s everyone else who minds what I make,” she teases lightly, but when she notices his guilt expression she grows more serious, “But really, don’t be silly. I want to take care of you.”
He still looks conflicted, and Chrissy sighs, “Eddie, I want to take care of you. Now just relax, please,” she shoots him a pleading look that she knows always gets him.
He sighs, but does as he’s told, leaning into the couch and taking small sips of his soup.
“It’s, snrfff really good snffsnrff,” he says after a moment, and Chrissy grins at him.
“Now I know you’re just saying that. It’s just canned soup.”
He shrugs and insists “It’s snfff still good.”
It’s clear that the food is helping to loosen up the congestion, and Eddie is sniffling every few moments before he’s done eating.
Chrissy passes him some tissues, which he takes eagerly. The Tylenol must be working because he looks aware enough to be embarrassed to blow his nose in front of her again.
She just gives him a reassuring smile and lets him return to eating. They fall into a comfortable silence that’s punctuated every so often by Eddie sniffling.
When he finishes eating, Chrissy takes the bowl back to the kitchen for him and then returns to the couch.
“Now don’t you feel better,” she pokes his shoulder a little, and Eddie rolls his eyes. He looks much more aware of his surroundings now that the medicine is kicking in, along with being hydrated and fed.
“Yeah, yeah, I should snff look after myself better. I know.”
Chrissy pulls him into her arms, “I’ll stop annoying you about it when you start actually doing it.”
Eddie rolls his eyes even harder, but she can tell from his small smile that he doesn’t mind the teasing, “Fair enough,” he concedes, leaning into her side.
“You tired enough to head to bed yet?” she asks quietly after a moment.
Eddie nods a little against her neck, and then seemingly without realizing rubs his nose against her as well. “Yeah… You don’t have to though. I know it’s early, and I’m sure you aren’t tired yet.”
She moves carefully so that she can face Eddie, and then presses their foreheads together. He frowns at their close proximity, but she doesn’t care.
She’s going to get sick, but she accepted that the moment she came in and saw Eddie looking so pathetic on their couch.
“There’s nowhere else I’d rather be.”
Eddie gives her a small smile and sniffles, “...I love you.”
Chrissy kisses him softly on the forehead, “Love you too,” she says softly before they both head off to sleep.

Stranger Things/Narnia Crossover
Okay, so, this was originally just me rambling in the tags on @steveshairychest’s post but uhhh i ran out of tags…..which has never happened to me before …..and then I didn’t want to hijack their post because it got wayyyyy too long and there are three parts because I have A LOT of thoughts for the lion, the witch, & the wardrobe; prince Caspian; & voyage of the dawn treader so like, this is part 1 i guess, bear with me here
Okay so, I’ve decided to go with, this is a canon compliant Stranger Things AU though Season 3 and then Season 4 still happens, but Eddie doesn’t exist in the modern world. Not 100% sure on how S4 would go in that case but hand waving that away, basic plot points happen, except they defeat Vecna, happy-ish ending, Max is FINE. Cool cool. Moving on.
In the OG post I saw @munsonsduchess mentioned in the replies Eddie as Caspian and I have ENTHUSIASTICALLY taken that to heart, not 100% sure how to work Wayne in there but that’s a problem for me an hour from now (but i have IDEAS for the steddie of it all so I will make it work)
So, The Lion, The Witch, & The Wardrobe:
So, post canon, at some point a few years post-S4, let’s say summer break between the kids Junior and Senior years, Steve, Robin, Dustin, & Max go on a vacation together. Which makes sense because the Sinclair’s, Byers, and Wheeler’s are probably all having family vacations. But Ms. Henderson and Susan Hargrove can’t take time off work to do that and Robin just wants to spend vacation with Steve, so they all go on a vacation to Europe and stay in this bougie ass Bed & Breakfast.
The Bed and Breakfast off is course Professor Kirke’s old house. Now, so we know time in Narnia isn’t accurate to time in England, so theoretically even tho it’s 1988, the kids could go through the wardrobe and still end up at the end of the long winter. I’m thinking in this universe the Pevensie’s never got to sent to Professor Kirke’s house during the war and he passed away in 1949 so the wardrobe just kind of got left in the house when it was turned into a bed and breakfast.
So, the four of them are there, Dustin and Steve are both in the room that have the wardrobe, and Robin and Max are sharing a room. At some point in the first couple of days there, Steve, Robin and Max are outside doing something and Dustin is just exploring as much of the house as he can get away with and for whatever reason, he gets it into his head that maybe the wardrobe has a false back!!! Because you know old house, old wardrobe, why not right?
And ofc it then spits him out in Narnia which is not a false back but is infinitely cooler in his opinion. Unfortunately, Dustin “what if I raise this baby demodog what could possibly go wrong” Henderson does not immediately turn around and go back, but instead goes exploring and then is happened upon by Jadis. Now, see, here’s where it changes, because Dustin’s played D&D for years and he might not have the good sense god gave a goose to not going run around a random new universe, but he does manage to clock, almost immediately, that Jadis doesn’t have his best intentions in mind. but he’d quite like to not get murdered thanks and so he plays along and mentally rolls dice and promises to bring her his “siblings” and then fucking hightails it the fuck out there
So, Dustin is back in the room, and immediately goes to tell the others. Change Number 2: they’ve all already gone through the upside down bullshit four times, and while they’re slightly skeptical, they also believe him pretty fast. It would not be the craziest thing to happen to them.
So, instead of doing the sensible thing and simply not going back into the wardrobe, they stash a bunch of supplies in it and start going in as a group to check it like once every hour or two to see if it’ll let them back in. It takes sixteen hours, by which point Steve is thoroughly over the whole thing and Max is starting to suspiciously wonder if Dustin is playing the longest prank ever on them, but it does indeed open back up and they grab their supplies and wander back into Narnia
If Nancy was there she’d be completely appalled that they don’t have any weapons on them except for Steve’s pocket knife and the kitchen knife Robin managed to steal. Unfortunately, Nancy is back in the states with her family and unaware of this.
So, into Narnia they go, Mr. Tumnus is there, since he didn’t meet Dustin the first time around, and wasn’t implicated. And then they run into the beavers etc father christmas all that
basically, book events happen similar-ish, Steve gets his sword & shield and Robin gets a bow & arrow and her horn. Because really, like, Steve is self-explanatory, going from a nailbat to a sword is the logical conclusion and by god does that boy need a shield. I think Robin would do well with a bow & arrow honestly, especially considering she seemed to do fine throwing the molotov’s and holding a bow doesn’t involve much walking/running unless the enemy gets too close.
Now, I was thinking on the cordial & dagger, and i technically slotted max into the role of lucy because dustin was the one to originally run into Jadis, but neither of them fully fit either of those characters, and I’m not really trying to make them fit perfectly. But so I do feel like the cordial and dagger fits Dustin more, especially if we want to assume he still watched someone die in S4. Not sure who…….but let’s just say he did. I’m not writing this as a full fic so that’s a problem for me never. But that would fit his character then.
We don’t have a canonical fourth gift set since Edmund wasn’t there, but I think, since they all received a weapon of some type, Max would do well with a set of dagger short swords for two handed fighting, and then maybe a map that always shows the right path? to tie in with her being the party’s zoomer?
so they get their gifts and keep going, whatever happens in the book happens I guess (I really don’t remember the small plot points) and then since no one betrayed anyone and we’re ignoring the bible metaphor of it all Aslan’s sacrifice isn’t needed and the battle is fought and won and the kids become the kings and queens of Narnia.
Now, they talk sometimes in the first couple years about trying to find the wardrobe and go home. They’re not really aware that time moves differently in Narnia than in their universe, and they’re sure that the rest of the party must be worried sick about them. But they’ve been handed an entire kingdom and Steve, whenever it’s brought up, always says that if they want to try and find their way back they should but he’s going to stay because this asshole has a savior complex and refuses to leave the kingdom he’s been given responsibility of and well, the other three refuse to leave him, and so in the end none of them leave.
But then, just like in the books, the memories fade and then it’s fifteen years later and completely by accident, they stumble back through the wardrobe and back into 1988.
The In Between:
So, they’re mentally 15 years older (36 / 35 / 32 respectively if my math is right) and now they’re back in their younger bodies in England and it’s only been maybe an hour or two and no one even knows they were gone.
Obviously, when they get back to Hawkins, which was an ordeal in itself while they tried to reorient themselves to the modern world, they call a code red and the party has a meeting where the four of them try to explain what the fuck happened.
The rest of the party wants to not believe them so bad because honestly, it’s horrifying, all four of them gone for years and years and none of them even noticed because time just, passed differently there (which is fascinatingly reminiscent of the upside down btw). The party doesn’t want to believe it, but they do, because Steve is matter of factly talking about the intricacies of running a kingdom and planning battles and treaty negotiations and Robin is explaining how you keep track of crop yield and making sure a kingdom is fed and taken care of and how to make sure you have back up reserves in case a winter runs crueler or longer than the last. Dustin casually talks about hosting castle functions when visiting rulers had come to Cair Paravel and Max talks about hunting and the dryads that taught her how to understand a river’s voice.
They don’t want to believe them but the party doesn’t lie, not about stuff like this, and no one can really deny the way that the four came back from England and no longer seem to fit.
It’s hard on the party of course. Dustin and Max can’t just slip back into their friendships with the others that easily. It’s been fifteen years for them, they’ve forgotten so much. It’s even harder for them to go home to their mother’s and pretend to be children. Robin and Steve have an easier time of it, time had only made them closer, and they’re still together even if they are back in Hawkins. It’s hard on Nancy who had started to grow close with Robin and had been looking forward to seeing Robin after they all got back from their family vacations.
But life moves on and it takes months but eventually all four of them start to slip back into their lives in Hawkins. But they still don’t quite fit, no matter how hard they try.
Steve and Max get into a mock fight one day when they’re out by the pool. Someone had brought a bunch of fake weapons, because they were getting ready for a LARP festival, and no one had thought about it past “that sounds like a fun thing to do” and one minute they’re all laughing and the next Steve has picked up a sword and Max has picked up a pair of short swords and they’re off.
They miss training is the thing, they never say it but there is so much about Narnia that they miss that it feels like they’ve lost a limb some days. Dustin misses Narnia less with every day that passes and Robin thinks some days that she’s fine in either world as long as Steve is there. But Steve and Max feel like they’ve lost a vital part of themselves and so of course they’re not going to pass up a chance to capture even a little bit of Narnia back.
The party goes dead silent as they watch Steve and Max fight. It’s obvious they’ve done this before. Max is fast her on feet and Steve is grinning, sharp in a way he never used to be. Neither of them are pulling their punches and Max jabs Steve hard in the side at one point right as he brings the sword down hard on her arm. “Guess that’s a draw,” he says, cheery as anything and Max laughs, says, “Don’t be ridiculous, you know that one’s mine. One of us would be bleeding out and it wouldn’t be me.”
They go kind of still when they turn and find everyone watching them but Robin hoots and starts making fun of Steve for losing before the silence can carry too long. Dustin joins in making fun of Max for getting hit at all. “I swear you used to be faster than that,” he says.
“Yeah, well, I used to have properly weighted swords too.”
He grimaces and concedes the point.
The point is, it gets easier and it gets harder and they try to move on because they don’t really see what other choice they have and the party does their goddamn best to get used to the new habits and idiosyncrasies of the four that came back.
It gets easier and then of course, a year later, in 1989, Steve, Robin, Dustin, and Max get called back.
to be continued.....

Could you do a love triangle between reader, Steve and Eddie? Like she can't decide who she's more attracted too and spin the bottle goes south really quick. Because they're jealous when someone dares the reader to kiss the other or someone else.
author's note: uh, yeah...i got carried away. this took on a life of it's own. i also got halfway through and tumblr deleted it and i had retype all of it, so if it seems a little disjointed, i'm sorry. hopefully it isn't too noticeable
cw: 18+ (to be safe), background!ronance, lots of making out and some suggestive touching, but nothing too crazy. there's not any interaction outside of the reader between steve & eddie, other than talking, ect, but i tried leaving the ending a little ambiguous for a reason :p
word count: 3.6k
Tumblr media
You weren’t entirely too sure how you ended up in this situation—scratch that—you were definitely aware of how, but why was the real issue. A small group of teenagers huddled around a fire during of those infamous senior year parties, drinking until you couldn’t see straight and making far too many irrational decisions—which is the how on you ending up here, staring directly at the two boys you couldn’t stop thinking about, sans the few other kids who didn’t really matter—not to you, anyways. You hadn’t spoke to half these kids the entire school year, but spin the bottle was harmless, practically child’s play. What was the worst thing that could happen?
“So, how are we doing this?” Steve asks after a long silence. Everyone shares a glance around the circle, not a single word spoken. “Come on, at least one of you has to have some idea of how to play.”
You sigh, taking the bait. “Let’s do—spinner chooses the person to kiss for whoever it lands on. Fair enough?” There’s a collective shrug from everyone in response. “Great—I’ll go first.” No one argues against it.
It lands on Nancy first, who takes a small sip of her beer—liquid courage, maybe? Though, she already looked like she been through a few by the slight flush in her face. You glance over at your quirky, fast talking friend and an idea strikes you.
“Robin.” You grin, staring Nancy down. Part of you expects Nancy to back out, but she crosses the path to Robin, who sitting beside you. It’s a quick kiss—close mouthed and simple. Nancy offered a comforting smile to her friend before turning on her heels and returning to her seat—and if it weren’t for the four beers Robin had consumed in the time you had been here, she’d be shaking in her converse after being kissed—and by Nancy Wheeler, of all people. You nudge her shoulder comfortingly, watching the blush creep up her neck toward her face. “Alright, who’s next?” Robin asks, desperately hoping to avert the attention away from her.
A young blonde girl who’s name you couldn’t remember spun the bottle, landing on Jason, and to no surprise—she picked herself. You’ve never been more happy that Chrissy wasn’t much of a partier, she didn’t deserve this—Jason really didn’t deserve her. You couldn’t be bothered to watch, eyes averting to Eddie who was just as equally uncomfortable, but it didn’t seem like it was for the same reason. He rarely ever took part in group stuff or socialized outside of his D&D club—but he had you, Nancy, Robin, and Steve to thank for finally helping him branch out—even if it was against his own will most of the time.
Jason took the next turn, spinning the bottle. It spun and spun, lasting for what felt like hours until it stopped on you. You looked at Jason, bracing for whatever stupid choice he was about to.
“Harrington.” He says smugly, smirk covering his annoying face. “You get to kiss Harrington.”
Steve eyes you wearily, immediately feeling uncomfortable with all eyes on him. Luckily, it wasn’t that big of a deal. Had he been the Steve of two years ago, he would’ve had no shame, kissing you square on the mouth in front of the entire school if he needed to, just to prove a point. But this Steve, he was hesitant. You had been through a lot, together and apart.
“Lucky me.” You joke, flashing a sweet smile in Steve’s direction. You chug the rest of the beer, throwing the bottle off toward the other growing pile of empty bottles. You contemplate whether a simple kiss was enough, but the way Jason was staring you down—you just had to stick it to him, shove it right in his face.
Steve’s leg spread slightly as you moved forward, allowing you the space you needed to take a careful seat on his leg, one arm hung loosely around his back. “You can hate me later.” You whisper, hand coming up to cradle the side of his face before leaning in, pressing you lips against his own with all the confidence in the world.
You really don’t expect the pressure the Steve returns, parting your lips slightly. But, he seems to catch on to why you were putting on such a show—he would play along either way. And even if you did have the teensiest of crushes on Steve, you would never find the courage to act on it alone. Steve spent all of his time talking about girls that there was no reason for you to be anywhere on his radar. He sighs quietly, bring you in closer, hand gripping onto your waist gently.
Jason clears his throat awkwardly, “If you two want to get a room that’s fine.” Of course the jerk couldn’t take what he wanted to dish out. You pull away slowly, eyes immediately connecting with his.
“Sorry. Who’s next?” You ask simply, standing to smooth out your shirt where it had ridden up from Steve’s hand. “Robin?”
“Me?” She asks, voice shaken. Robin was always so inherently nervous, but it was part of her charm. "I, uh--Okay."
You could hear a pin drop as soon as it landed on Eddie, the entire group snapping their attention in his direction. He was fiddling with the neck of the bottle, not realizing everyone was staring at him until Steve nudges him.
He laughs lightly, not even the slightest bit uncomfortable. You would never understand how easily he brushed everything off. "Choose wisely, Robin." He teases, pointing a tantalizing finger her direction. Robin forces a laugh, eyes wandering around the group slowly, categorizing every person.
Not Jason, not Nancy, not to mention all the other kids who were vehemently making an effort to avoid Robin's gaze. She stops on Steve for half a second, considering--before she snaps to you. She mumbles a sheepish, "Sorry--I love you, please don't hate me."
But, there wasn't any reason to hate her. It was a game--a silly, stupid little game, right? You shrug, throwing your arms up in the air. "Rules are rules." You assure her, "Pucker up, Munson."
Much similar to your approach to Steve, Eddie widens his legs. But, he's perched higher, allowing his head to be level with you while he sat. "It's an honor, sweetheart." His voice dripping with honey, warm and entirely too welcoming--and now you really can't ignore the shiver that runs down your spine. It wasn't the alcohol this time, not even in the slightest.
He yanks you toward him gently, fingers carding their way through the hair at nape of your neck, pulling you in for a slow, searing kiss. You yelp quietly at the action, caught off guard by the way Eddie manhandled you into place--not that you were complaining.
The kiss quickly turns into something else, a mess of tongues and not much else. It was probably time to cut off the alcohol. Robin whistles loudly from behind you, the rest of the teenagers joining in quickly, pulling you both out of whatever trance you had both entered. You quickly stepped back from Eddie, pointedly avoiding his eyes--unfortunately, locking right onto Steve's. Except he's not looking back, he's staring directly at Eddie. And it's then, in the midst of all your drunkenness, that your existential crisis hits you.
Steve was jealous and Eddie wanted to make Steve jealous. It had worked perfectly, assuming by the look on Steve's face. But, what doesn't make sense, is why Steve couldn't bare to look at you now. Eddie coughs softly, causing you to separate further. "Sorry, sweetheart. Kinda got ahead of myself." You wanted to blame it on the alcohol, but it couldn't have been more obvious--the problem was literally staring you directly in the face.
They were both jealous. They couldn't even share a glance with each other anymore, after an entire night of pointless chatting, it was like they couldn't be on further points of the universe, all over a harmless game.
"Well, I think that's enough for one night." Nancy finally says, breaking the tension that had been created between the three of you. "Robin?" She asks, making an effort to hope she would catch on.
"Yep!" She claps, standing up from her spot and immediately snatching Nancy away from the group. "God, please fill me in on whatever is going on with those two." Robin whispers into your ear before she finally flees, following Nancy toward the drink table, against her better judgement.

After a few minutes of silence and stolen glances between each other, no one speaks. You sigh loudly, hands thrown out to your side. "I'm not dealing with you two. I'm not--I'm just gonna go find somewhere to sober up." You weren't sure what had brought out the behavior from Steve--well, Eddie had--but, you hadn't done a single thing to him. And Eddie, he couldn't even be bothered to look Steve's way.
You turn, stomping off into the deep brush of forest, desperate to escape the chaos of the party and calm your nerves. "Wait!" You hear Steve call out, but you don't stop. To no one's surprise, Steve trails closely behind--a quiet Eddie sticking behind, staring at the dirty, scuffed white sneakers he wore.
"Wait, please," Steve's voice is softer this time, but louder, void of all the loud music and chatter. He's staring at you with his soft, brown eyes--the type of look that would make any girl melt. But not you, not now, "stuff got weird back there, I'm sorry."
"Stuff got weird? Is that the excuse you're using?" You ask, entirely unconvinced by what he was telling you. "So, you staring down Eddie like you wanted to murder him isn't important? I shouldn't be worried about that?"
Steve looks away, jaw clenching. "I didn't think it would feel weird. But, I couldn't help it." He replies lamely, still not looking your way.
"Couldn't help what?" You ask, arms crossing over your chest, "Acting like a complete douche? It was a game, Steve." But, you were far past the point of it just being a game--you knew it was more to Steve, maybe not before, but definitely now.
"Just a game? So when you had your tongue shoved down Eddie's throat, that was just a game?" Steve turns toward you, eyes narrowing. You set yourself, brows furrowing in anger.
"So, you are jealous." Steve shakes his head in frustration, back turned toward you. "You're jealous that I kissed Eddie? Steve, I kissed you too, how does that make any sense?" He didn't even have the courage to look at you now, even after being so confrontational. "Steve, seriously?"
"Fuck this." He snaps, turning on his heels and stalking toward you, legs hitting the back of the worn out picnic table, sending you stumbling back, arm extended out in an effort to catch yourself, but Steve's hands are around you before you can even think, pulling you into him.
You hesitate for a split second, seeing his eyes scan over the expanse of your face, silently checking if you were okay--you were furious, but you couldn't help but want to lean in further, the tingle of alcohol filling your body. You sigh into Steve's mouth the moment it touches yours, immediately wrapping your arms around the expanse of his neck, allowing his hands to slip under your thighs and force you to be fully seated on the table now, wrapping your legs around his hips.
His tongue traces a line against your top lip, idle hand squeezing at the soft flesh of your waist, before delving into your mouth like he was a man dying of thirst, ready to bleed you dry. You fight back, lips pressing against his in an effort to gain an upper hand, fingers gently pulling at his hair. Steve moans outwardly, a filthy laugh slipping from his lips at the effort you were giving. "I guess I had a reason to be jealous, yeah?" He asks teasingly, his voice low and soft, only for your ears.
"Shut up." You bite back, pulling him back in for another kiss, leaving you practically breathless.
"Well, seems you two had a couple issues to work through." A voice bleeds through the trees, the familiar crackle of leaves coming closer and closer until..."Didn't think you had it in you, Harrington."
"Eddie." It's a warning. He knows it.
Eddie throws his hands up in defeat before resting them behind his back, slowly stepping closer. Steve was still pressed between your legs, but both of you were glued on Eddie and that stupid smirk he had.
"Don't act so innocent, sweetheart." He chides, his voice soft but condescending in it's tone. "You knew exactly what you were doing."
A step closer, than another, until he's practically kneeling on the bench beside you both, only a few inches away. "Steve's definitely got it out for you--problem is, I do too."
It couldn't have been more obvious, but the reality of hearing it fall from Eddie's mouth has your heart skipping a beat. Two of you bestfriends, two people you loved--it should feel wrong.
Eddie lets out a short chuckle, eyes dark, not soft like they usually are. He wasn't mad, you've known him long enough to understand what that looks like, but this--it was something else entirely. He leans in slowly, lips brushing the shell of your ear.
You were too hyperaware of your position now--Steve crowded over you, Eddie pushed in beside you. Steve hadn't even bothered to move, to enraptured by the show Eddie was putting on, almost like he was amused by it. You glance over at Steve, his mouth hung open slightly, still caught up in all the emotion of the moment, his grip never faltering.
"You think Harrington likes to watch? Or maybe he'll join in?" Eddie asks teasingly, eyes glancing toward Steve. Steve's eyes flit toward Eddie quickly, before returning to your own, eyes glossing over slightly. "He does get a little feisty when he drinks, doesn't he?"
"Eddie, just get to the point." You beg tiredly, glancing up toward him now. Eddie smiles, but it's slight, barely noticeable at all. He's thinking, contemplating. But, it doesn't take long before Eddie's leaning forward, chin grasped between his fingers in an effort to maneuver your face toward him. It's surprisingly gentle, despite how aggressive it would look to anyone passing by, luckily you three were completely alone.
"Just couldn't resist another taste, sweetheart." Eddie flirted entirely to well, it was one of his more annoying traits. He flirted with everyone, anything, it wasn't something you ever put much thought into. But, this--this was dirty, this was real. "I'll let myself regret it in the morning."
But, it's you who closes that gap, hand reaching up to graze the side of Eddie's face, fingers catching in one of his curls. Steve's grip on your waist tightens, but he doesn't move, doesn't let go. He hasn't even made a sound. Eddie licks into your mouth, desperate for more of you, teeth grazing against your bottom lip, nipping gently. Eddie was messy with passion in the way that Steve was slightly more coordinated--and the idea that you were even comparing the two was insane, but that was a thought for a later time. There were more pressing issues at hand--like, Eddie pulling away to suck at a particular spot on your neck, allowing you to finally lock eyes with Steve again.
"Can I kiss you?" His voice was rough, eyes drawn to where Eddie was sucking along your neck. You couldn't even be bothered to answer, nodding quickly in response. He pulls you in carefully, the hand that wasn't holding your waist a featherlight touch against your thigh, pulling your leg higher up his hip. He didn't seem to mind that Eddie wanted to join in, but he wanted to make sure his presence was still known. Not like you could forget it--this would be burned into your mind forever.
You sigh, desperate for more and more touch, from either of them. It was driving you wild, the way Eddie was whispering in your ear, taking the time to claim up your skin with his own mouth, all while being devoured by Steve’s, his tongue breaching past your lips, desperate to pull any little sound he could out of you. Words were pointless, you couldn’t even form one. It wasn’t like you were drunk enough to the point where you couldn’t make a rational decision, not that anything was making sense right now, but you were definitely aware.
“Switch me, Harrington.” Eddie sighs out, hand reaching around to grip at the thigh that Steve wasn’t occupying, squeezing at the sensitive flesh. You whine softly, the cold sting of his rings a very prominent reminder. This was Eddie, your best friend, and Steve—also your best friend—how were you going to recover from this?
Steve doesn’t put up a fight, surprisingly, switching with Eddie quickly, hand wandering up your chest, slipping under the thin material of your shirt. “This okay?” He asks into crown of your head, mouth buried into your hair, squeezing at your breast, over the flimsy bralette that covered them.
“So okay. So much better than okay.” You confess, pleasure having taken over your rational thinking completely. You catch the glance that Eddie sends Steve's way, watching his hand disappear under your shirt. And for a split second, Steve locks eyes with him. They could've buried you six feet under at this point, not even feeling like you were in control of yourself anymore. But, the feeling of Eddie's lips brushing against your own has you jolting back to reality, your hand coming up to push his hair out of his face, delving into his mouth, a sloppy mess of tongue and spit, just like before.
It was a stark contrast, the way Eddie was ready to devour you whole, compared to Steve, who was sure of himself, but never taking a step too far without checking in with you. It had you reeling, two of the boys you care about most, drawing sounds out of you that you had no idea existed. You had to stop this at some point, before you three woke up the next morning, unable to look at each other.
You sighed, reaching back to rub tenderly at Steve's arm, pulling his attention away from where his face was buried in your neck, barely grazing Eddie's, but it's enough to interrupt him. He pulls back, eyes softer now.
"We have to stop." You say, regretfully. As much as you wanted to let the alcohol think for you, some things just couldn't get out of control, not this. "We can't do this."
They both pull back slowly, slightly dejected. "Sorry." Steve says softly, attempting to subtly adjust the front of his pants, but he fails.
"Damn, Harrington." Eddie laughs, finally pulling back, fishing his pack of cigarettes out of his pocket. "You just keep surprising me."
"Shut up." Steve shoots back, but there's no real emotion behind it. He almost laughs at the absurdity of the situation, not having fully processed everything either.
"I need to get back before Robin comes looking for me." You tell them both, the flick of Eddie's lighter louder in the silence that had settled.
"Eh, I don't know about that." Eddie gives you a playful look, taking a long drag from the cigarette. "She might be a little busy."
"With?" You ask, eyeing him carefully.
"Let's just say, Wheeler was pretty eager to run off with her earlier," He glances over at Steve, then back at you, "and I definitely didn't catch them making out over by the parking lot."
"Damn, I didn't think Robin had it in her." Steve comments offhandedly, seemingly proud of his friend.
"God," You sigh, rubbing your hands over your face tiredly, "this is the last party I'm ever tagging along on."
"Probably a good idea," Eddie says, smiling down at you, "you might end up falling in love with us." It's a lame attempt at a joke, but the way your heart flutters scares you.
"Yeah." You force a laugh, pushing yourself off the table and attempting to walk back toward the wild group of drunk teenagers. The boys trail closely behind, exchanging glances between each other unbeknownst you. Steve shakes his head in disbelief.
"Hey!" You hear Robin yells, jogging toward you. Nancy was close behind her, an obvious pep in her step. You gave Robin a suspicious look, eyeing her up and down. "So, these two ever stop acting so grumpy?"
"Yeah." You say slowly, glancing over at Nancy, who was forcing herself to hide the obvious smile on her face. "They'll be okay, we talked it out."
"Good, at least they finally figured their shit out." Robin whispers to you, glancing up at the two boys who were both wearing the same pair of shit-eating grins on their face at the sight of their other two friends.
"I could say the same for you."
The look on Robin's face is priceless, sending you running in the direction of Steve's car at the startled yell of your name. "She's gonna kill you for that." Eddie comments, gasping for breath when you finally come to a stop, arm draped over your shoulder gently.
"I told you, she just needed a nudge." Steve smirks, jingling the keys to his car in front of you. "Need a ride?"
It didn't matter if you three ended up in the back of Steve's car that night, somehow in the same situation as earlier, you could regret it in the morning. But truthfully, that wasn't the last time—and none of you ever regretted it.
