Steve, Gareth and Chrissy are cousins AU (sad edition) [prologue] [part 1] [part 2] [part 3] [part 4] [part 5] [Part 6] [Part 7] [Final Part]
"Oh Boom!" Steve cheers, stepping though the plants, "Bada bing, bada boom! There she is, Henderson. Skull Rock. In your face, man. In your stupid, cocky little face."
"Doesn't make sense," Dustin mutters, following after him.
"Yeah, yeah. Even with it staring you in the face, you can't admit it. Can't admit you're wrong, you butthead," Steve says, one hand on his hip as he looks up at Skull Rock.
"I concur," Eddie's voice is preceded by the thump of his landing, which causes Steve and Dustin to turn around to, "You, Dustin Henderson, are a total butthead."
"You son of a bitch!" a different, familiar voice shouts, and Steve watches, to his increasing horror, as Gareth rounds the rock Eddie just jumped off and beelines for Steve. He's too shocked to do anything other than watch as Gareth plants his palms to Steve's chest and shoves.
Steve goes down hard, arms pinwheeling. He hears several people call his name but the white noise his brain is generating has blocked out everything except Gareth. Gareth, who stands before him, chest heaving in his anger, hand back to his sides and fists clenched.
"Where were you!?" Gareth screams at him, and Steve can see tears threatening to fall. "Where the fuck have you been?"
"Excuse me, but who are you?" Robin asks, stepping forward and into Steve's periphery. The white noise quiets just a bit as he watches Robin whip to Eddie. "Who is he?"
Eddie says something back, but Steve doesn't fully hear it before Gareth has taken a step forward, closer, pulling all his attention again and Gareth asks again, quietly, "Where were you?"
Steve swallows, looking Gareth up and down. He's dirty, much like Eddie, and not wearing shoes. Why isn't he wearing shoes? What happened to them? He looks back up to Gareth's face. To the anger he can see, is sure everyone else can see, too. But, also, to the sorrow, the fear, the hurt underneath it all. Steve opens his mouth, a thousand questions on his tongue. Where are your shoes? How did you get here? When? I tried to keep you out of this, I wanted to keep you out of this. Why are you here? But, instead, what comes out is, "I'm sorry."
Those words seem to break Gareth. A choked off sob rips from his throat and he drops to his knees, curling in on himself. Steve, always protective, moves to comfort him at the same time as Eddie does but Eddie beats him there, kneeling down to be at Gareth's side, concern etched in every line of him. Eddie places a hand on Gareth's back, near his shoulder, rubbing small, soothing circles there.
It makes something squeeze deep inside of him, to see Eddie caring for Gareth so much, even as Eddie is now glaring at Steve in defense of whatever slight he thinks Steve has caused. Or maybe he knows. Maybe Gareth told him. Told him how Steve is the worst cousin in the world, failed to protect Chrissy. Failed Gareth, too, since he's here, barefoot in the middle of the goddamn woods instead of safe in his home.
Robin's arm hooking under Steve's own breaks him from his thoughts. He lets Robin help him stand, and watches as Eddie does the same for Gareth, and for a moment, the whole forest is quiet.
But they have Dustin with them, so that doesn't last long. "Can someone explain what the hell is going on? Why's Gareth here?"
Steve doesn't even have it in himself to scold Dustin for his language.
Eddie and Gareth exchange looks, a silent communication so like how he is with Robin that it gut-punches him, and then Eddie says, "it's, uhh, quite a story."
"Start telling it, then," Nancy says gently but still with her usual no nonsense undertone.
They get a story told by both. When Eddie pauses, Gareth picks up the tale, and the vice versa. When Gareth gets choked with emotion, such as explaining that Chrissy is his cousin, Eddie takes over and explains. He says nothing about Steve, doesn't even imply he knows more, so... maybe Gareth hasn't told him Steve is also his cousin?
Then they talk about Patrick and Nancy wants to know the time, and soon it's back to dealing with the Upside Down. Something's up with Dustin's compass they have to go investigate now, and Steve thinks everyone's forgotten the weird tension of Gareth shoving him down and demanding to know where he's been.
Everyone but Robin, it seems, who hangs back to ask about it as they follow Dustin and his broken compass.
"So, how do you know Gareth?" Robin asks, uncertain.
Steve frowns at the back of Gareth's head, where he walks ahead with Dustin and Eddie. "He's my cousin."
"Oh!" Robin's eyebrows shoot up in surprise, looking from Gareth to Steve, as if she can spot a family resemblance from the back of Gareth's head. "How did I not know that?"
"Gareth asked to pretend we weren't related when he started high school," Steve shrugs. "Was afraid it would ruin his 'street cred'."
"What a nerd."
"Right?" Steve chuckles at that and they walk in silence for a bit longer before Robin gasps like she's dying. A realization.
"Steve," she breaths out, a hand flying out to grab onto Steve's shoulder in an almost painful grip. He's so glad she's keeping quiet, as she whispers, "was Chrissy your cousin, too?"
Steve swallows and nods.
"Steve, I-"
"No. Not now. Not the time," Steve cuts her off, prying his hand from her arm. "Please, Robbie. I can't think about that now. Please."
Robin doesn't look happy about the development but she gives a nod, swallowing around the lump in her throat now.

Somewhere Only We Know
Dustin wants to know why Eddie despises you over every other member of the dark side. You're just some cheerleader, right? What could you have possibly done to incur Eddie's wrath?
Starts off with Dusty Buns POV, then Eddie then yours.
Mentions of weed, Jason being a prick, Eddie pines but won't admit it... Mdni. Vecna? Who's Vecna.
🖤💌
Dustin truly thought Eddie Munson was one of the coolest people he had ever known, Steve of course was on that list of total badasses as well.
However for all, Dustin knew of Eddie and that was a lot (the guy made his feelings loud and clear on a variety of things, conformity, Jason Carver, why metal was the superior genre of music, Jason Carver.
But in the few short months since Dustin joined Hellfire and was taken under Eddie's wing, there was one topic he wasn't so clued up on, and that was you and the mystery of why Eddie seemed to despise you above everyone else in this school.
He had tried to casually bring the topic of you up, sure you were a cheerleader and on the dark side and Eddie hated conformity and shit but clearly you had done something painful to Eddie for him to hate you like this.
Dustin wasn't exaggerating either, anytime you and Eddie were in the same vicinity of each other it was like the temperature dropped in the room and Dustin was chilled to the bone at the icy glares between you and Eddie.
Literally, the mention of your name had Eddie's eyes filling with disdain. "She's a traitor and can't be trusted, don't ask about her again Henderson" Eddie snapped during one lunch break when Dustin brought you up out of curiosity.
"Uh meaning?" he asks confused but not wanting to piss Eddie off any further. His question is ignored until Gareth answers it quietly.
"She used to be in Hellfire, then she tried out for a spot on the cheerleading squad and got in. Refused to choose between the two, said she could do both and that Eddie was being an asshole, they had a big fight and she left Hellfire. It broke Eddie's heart even though he pretends otherwise"
Well, shit. "Don't tell him I told you that dude and don't bring her up again. Touchy subject" Dustin nods and expects that's the last he will hear about you.
It's not.
💌
Eddie ignores the chatter around him while his gaze is solely focused on you. Jackson had been hanging around you constantly and for some reason, it pissed Eddie off. Couldn't he enjoy his pretzels and Yoohoo in peace without seeing such a sickening display?
If Eddie felt a twist in his gut every time Jackson got too close to you then that was his business.
"Can't they go to the bleachers and hash it out so I don't have to bring up my lunch every time Jackass decides to flirt" Eddie snaps and narrows his eyes at you, Gareth rolls his eyes and Jeff hides his snort behind a cough when Eddie's glare is aimed at him.
"Dude she's not even interested in him. He was an asshole when they dated and she got sick of him within two weeks" Jeff is apparently very informed on the matter and this annoys him even more.
"You're very informed on the dating lives of the dark side Jeff?" Jeff shrugs and mutters something under his breath, something suspiciously like he still talks to you from time to time.
This would be Eddie's next rant. Giving the time of days to traitors was not in the Hellfire handbook, just because they had pretty eyes and a sweet but deadly smile was not an excuse to break said rule.
Unfortunately, he has a deal to make, the rant would be adjourned to another time. "Gentlemen, I must leave you now to embark on a quest for gold in the deep dark woods" he bows then heads out to his spot in the woods.
Waits for ten minutes and thinks that whoever it is isn't coming. All he had to signify the meeting was a note in his locker and he's still unsure if he's walking into a trap by Carver.
Impatient and just about to give up, he gets up and then stills when he sees you walk into the clearing. What the shit... Since when did you smoke weed? He's never known you to do it in any of the time he's known you.
"Munson" you nod and he closes his gaping mouth as you join him on the table, he expects you to be tense but you close your eyes and enjoy the cool wind and the peace of just the birds singing and leaves rustling gently. He forgot how much you liked being out here.
He clears his throat refusing to get lost in memories and you sigh, open your eyes and he stares back impassively. "Surprised Jackass isn't hanging off you like a limpet" he snarks and you roll your eyes at his tone.
"Jackson' you emphasize ''needs to take a hint. Look, Megan asked me to pick up weed for the party this weekend, so we can cut to the chase" Eddie snorts, you never did have time for bullshit.
"How much do you want?" you shrug and place twenty-five bucks on the table.
"Carver is paying apparently" There is a glint of mischief in your eyes and you smile impishly. Eddie does not get lost in that smile, no way. He clears his throat and smirks.
"Well if it's Carver's money" he takes the full amount and is surprised when you unsuccessfully try to hide a smile. He sobers up and plays with his rings, looks at you briefly then speaks again.
"Uh, it's potent so just make sure that you don't get overboard" he spits it out quickly, like he doesn't care either way what you do. You pause before getting up and there's that soft smile again.
"Careful Munson, anyone would think you still care about me'' there's a sadness to your tone and Eddie watches you go. There's an ache in his chest that feels all too familiar.
💌
You loved cheerleading, the closeness you felt with the rest of the team, learning routines together and having each other's backs. The close friendship you had with Chrissy and Tina. It was senior year and the cheer squad were on the precipice of winning a trophy for the school.
In that sense your life was perfect. In other ways not so much. You hated Jason but tolerated him for Chrissy. Jackson wouldn't stop bugging you to go back out with him, even though you had barely dated him for two weeks and grew tired of his jealous and demanding behaviour.
No way were you going down that road again. Then there was Eddie Munson, who hated you and made that feeling known, he was the bane of your existence and yet you were so tired of the animosity between you both.
Most of all you were sick of Jason and his stupid superiority, boy did he never let you forget that you didn't belong with the cheer squad. He all but cornered you after lunch to rant at you for laughing at one of Eddie's stupid jokes at Jason's expense.
It was a reflex. That's all and it was funny to see Jason brought down a peg or two.
"Don't think I forget where you came from freak, you can easily go back to obscurity playing Dungeons and Dwarves with Munson and his band of geeks" Jason snaps and you meet his gaze with unwavering intensity.
"Dragons", He looks confused and you smirk ''Its Dungeons and Dragons, dumbass" you tack on dumbass at the end just to piss him off even more, how dare he threaten you? Who did he think he was?
Sometimes you wished you could just go back and be a part of Hellfire Club again, a club that so easily accepted and looked after their own. Cheerleading was similar to that but the people in your friends circle sure liked to ruin any sense of security you felt. Mostly Jason and some of his Neanderthal friends.
Jason snorts and then he slams the locker beside you hard and it rattles you but you don't show it, when that doesn't work Jason knocks the books out of your hands and they go flying and he stomps on them before he leaves.
His laughter echoes down the hallway and you shout after him that he's an asshole, gather the books as best as you can and freeze as your well-loved copy of The Hobbit which already isn't in the best state falls apart completely.
Tears pool in your eyes and you hastily wipe them away, it's just a book, it's just a book you chant in your head but it doesn't work. It's been your constant companion since you were nine and it breaks your heart to see it tattered and broken.
Ringed hands help gather the rest of your work and you whimper. Shit, not him. Not now. Hastily you wipe your tears away and stand up, meet Eddie's gaze as he holds your books for you.
He looks begrudging in helping you but slowly his features soften at your tears, he looks at the tattered book in your hand, at the faint smudge of a shoe print.
"Who...Carver did this?" he growls and you nod still seething but the anger is ebbing away to sadness.
"I've had that book since I was nine and I know I can buy a new one but it's not the same, I hate him and I hate his stupid bullshit king title. He's an asshole and his group of Neanderthal friends and he can't even get the name of D&D right and I miss...'' you swallow and Eddie's anger melts away, his gaze intent on you.
"What do you miss?" he asks softly and you figure you've already spilled out some secrets so why not indulge one more.
"I miss Hellfire and I miss y...everyone" you hurriedly say and hope Eddie didn't notice the slip ''but everyone hates me now"
Eddie gently hands you back your books and you thank him. He's silent for a moment then speaks up.
"Everyone misses you too" he is about to walk away when you stop him. Your heart is racing but you have to be sure.
"Everyone?" you confirm and he knows what you're asking, if everyone includes him. He nods and reaffirms what he said.
"Everyone sweetheart and one more thing... no one hates you" he walks away at that point, runs to catch up with one of the freshmen in Hellfire and steals his hat. A laugh bursts out from you as you watch Dustin? as he chases Eddie around the hallway.
Yeah, you do miss Hellfire...and Eddie.
♥️
When you get to your locker on Monday morning there's something jammed in your locker so that it isn't fully closed. When you open the locker, a book falls out and you recognise the cover immediately.
A new copy of The Hobbit. You pick the book up and hug it to your chest, eyes sparkling with tears. You know exactly who left it in your locker but the little note of crumpled-up paper falls out.
It's clearly ripped from a Dungeon Masters notebook. All that's on it is a small message in a messy scrawl but it makes your heart skip several beats anyway.
Since Carver ruined the first copy, I thought you might want another.

💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔
It wasn't the first time Steve woke up to pictures and articles about Eddie being seen with some model or actor, but it was the first time he'd actually been worried.
Eddie had been distant lately. Usually, when he was on tour, he'd call Steve on his lunch break and text him when he got off of work, and he'd try to Facetime him after his show if it wasn't in a different time zone.
But for the past week or so, he had excuses. They sounded legitimate until one of the afternoons he said the band was caught up in an interview so he couldn't call and Jeff called him ten minutes later to ask where Eddie was. Even with that, Steve hadn't assumed he was cheating.
Steve figured maybe Eddie was just tired or his social battery had run out. Those kinds of things happened before occasionally.
But not daily for over a week.
He was barely even responding to texts, and the ones he did respond to were hours later and hardly adding to any conversation.
And now this article.
There was a picture of Eddie standing with his arm around some guy who was taller than him, both of them laughing, looking at each other like...well. Steve knew that look because it'd only ever been pointed at him, but now he was seeing it pointed at just some guy.
The headline read EDDIE MUNSON GIVING UP HIGH SCHOOL SWEETHEART FOR SUPERMODEL SUPERSTAR?
Steve decided the only way through this was to read the entire article. At least then he could probably convince himself they were wrong.
Except the article went on to explain how Eddie hadn't brough Steve to any shows yet this tour, and how he'd been flirting more with the crowd after the show instead of just during it, how he was seen at two bars over the last week when he usually doesn't go out after shows.
It went on to say that these pictures were taken shortly after they'd been seen sneaking away from a group of people they'd been hanging out with and that they seemed very close for the entire night. The article said the guy was a male lingerie model who made it big posing for Gucci last year. He'd just landed his first film role as a supporting actor and was looking to land a lead role soon.
Steve hated him. And he was getting a terrible feeling in his gut about what was going on.
He had 26 unread texts, most of them from Robin, Dustin, and Gareth.
All of them had said mostly the same things:
I can't get ahold of Eddie.
He wouldn't do this.
Something else is going on.
Call me when you can.
The last one was Gareth, and it's not that he and Gareth weren't close, but they never talked on the phone.
He tried not to think about he didn't have a single message or missed call from Eddie.
Steve called Gareth.
"Steve. Shit, I'm glad you called."
"What's going on?"
Gareth sighed. "Ed's kinda losing it. But before you call him-"
"Why would I call him? Shouldn't he be the one to call me? If he wants to be with some supermodel, he should probably be the one to break up with me, right?" Steve could feel tears gathering in his eyes, stinging the back of his throat. "I'm not sure why I have to be the one to hurt and do the breaking up."
"Steve-"
"Is there something you needed Gareth? Or were you just trying to defend your friend?"
"There's nothing to defend! I swear-"
"Yeah. Well. Tell him to call me if he wants to explain anything, I guess."
Steve hung up just before a sob ripped from his throat.
He never had to worry about Eddie being a famous rock star, spending 6-7 months of the year gone, meeting all kinds of flashy celebrities. Eddie loved him so much, he never had any doubt that he'd always be his first choice.
Until now.
It was a shitty feeling and he had to be at work in less than an hour.
No time to wallow.
He sent a quick text to Robin to let her know he was okay, but needed to focus on getting through work, then shut off his phone.
"Is everything okay?" the art teacher, Mrs. Phineas, asked him on their lunch break. "You seem out of it today."
"Just a migraine," Steve gave a half-smile, hoped it was enough to convince her to leave him alone. He still hadn't turned on his phone, and at this point, he didn't really want to.
She tilted her head to the side. "When are you off to see your man?"
"Don't know," he shrugged, ignoring the tug in his stomach, the sudden weight in his chest.
"Ah," she said, turning back to her soup. "Something happened."
"Nothing happened!"
"You look two seconds away from crying," she gave him a deadpan look. "Did he hurt you?"
Mrs. Phineas was a little older than Wayne, close to retirement, and had been his closest friend from the moment he started teaching at this school nearly six years ago. He'd told her everything about Eddie, their relationship, his hopes of Eddie taking a longer break after this tour so they could have some time just the two of them, maybe make a real plan for their future.
Steve nodded once.
Her hand covered his and she squeezed his fingers in her own. "I may not know him half as well as I know you, but I know that boy loves you. You two will get through this, whatever it is."
"I dunno if we will," Steve whispered, scared to speak louder and risk the tears falling. He'd been doing so well today.
She patted his hand and went back to eating, saying nothing else about it.
His students had caught on early that he wasn't quite his usual self, and the group of second graders had been on their best behavior because of it. As the dismissal bell rang and he started calling for bus riders to line up, someone walked through his door.
Eddie walked through his door.
He bit back the anger, knowing his students loved Eddie and wouldn't know he was here for any reason other than to say hello.
"Mr. Munson!" A few of them yelled as most of them ran up to him instead of getting in the line Steve asked them to.
"Hi kiddos!" Eddie was faking it, but luckily the students couldn't tell. "Sorry, but you guys have to listen to Mr. H right now. I promise I will come say hi again tomorrow."
The students grumbled about it and Steve took in his appearance.
He had dark circles under his eyes like he hadn't slept the night before, his hair was in a messy bun instead of perfectly arranged to fall on his shoulders, and he was wearing Steve's hoodie that had suspiciously gone missing the last time he'd been home.
The fact that Steve's first thought was how badly he wanted to pull him into a hug was not a good sign.
He checked names off the list as they filtered out the door and then called the car riders to line up. He went through the list and made sure everyone made it into the hall where they'd be called when their parent pulled up before turning back to Eddie.
He closed his door and made his way to his desk, ignoring the way Eddie awkwardly stood by one of the student desks in the front.
"What are you doing here?" Steve asked, signing off of his work email and organizing tomorrow's lesson plan.
"I needed to explain-"
"Right."
"That article wasn't supposed to come out yet."
Steve's jaw dropped. So he wasn't going to deny it, he was just gonna act like it was the media's fault for releasing it before he could talk to Steve.
"Yeah. So you decided to come break up with me in person because you got caught cheating instead of doing it over the phone right before the article hit online. Got it."
Steve was not going to cry about this. Not in front of Eddie.
He was going to go home, shower, try to eat something, and then he was going to cry for the next 10 hours.
"No, Steve, you don't understand."
"You're right, I don't. I don't understand how you could throw away a 10 year relationship for a model who doesn't even know your middle name. I don't understand how you can fly all the way here and interrupt my day at my job to try to explain to me why you were so cozy with a guy who doesn't even know that you like your hot chocolate with Bailey's instead of regular milk. I really don't understand how you couldn't even bother to text or call me one single time since the article to even try to explain anything." Steve wiped his eyes furiously, angry that his tears were betraying him. "I don't understand why you would expect me to care for reasons."
Eddie wordlessly picked Steve's phone up off the desk and powered it on. He set it down in front of Steve and waited.
Texts and calls and emails came through all at once, hundreds of notifications lighting up his screen.
Many of them from Eddie himself.
"Go ahead. Open them," Eddie didn't sound mad, he just sounded resigned.
So Steve read through the texts, many of them different renditions of 'please Steve, call me' and 'I love you sweetheart I'm sorry.' Not promising.
But then he started playing the voicemails.
"Stevie, it's really not what it looks like. It's never what it looks like. You know that. Please call me as soon as you can. I love you."
"I can explain everything if you call me back. I promise you it isn't anything more than a business thing. Everyone in the band can tell you. I swear. Just. Please."
"I'm getting on a flight to you now. I'm gonna keep trying to call you even when I land. I need you to know what's going on."
"Just landed. I'm on my way to you. The guys are a little pissed, but you're more important than the show tonight. I'm not doing my own thing until I know you understand."
Steve looked up at him, tears still falling down his face.
"Well?" He asked, broken.
"His name is Wyatt. He's trying to make it in the acting world and he was pretty much told he was the top choice for playing lead in a movie that's in early stages of development," Eddie spoke quickly.
"Great for him."
"It's actually great for all of us. The movie is a biopic of Corroded Coffin. He's expected to play me."
At any other time, Steve would be proud, he'd be jumping up and down at this chance for them, and he'd be kissing Eddie without a care in the world.
But he still saw that picture and that article, and no matter how much "business" was going on, it was pretty clear that wasn't all that was going on.
"So you thought sleeping with him would help him get into the role? Or did you just wanna get into him?" Steve bit back.
"The article was wrong! The picture was just really conveniently timed! You know the media are vultures, Stevie. How many times have they written about us breaking up? How many times have they said Gareth and I have secretly been married for the last two years? How many times have they tried to post shitty things about your relationship before me to prove that you can't possibly be queer?" Eddie pulled Steve to his feet and cupped his face in his hands. "I've been spending the last two weeks talking with him and the producer and the guys to see what might work best for production. They want us involved in as much of the writing and filming part as possible. And he had time in his schedule to come to a show last night, so we all took him out after so he could get a taste of what it's like for us. He's really excited for the role and all of us are really excited for the movie."
Steve felt stupid. Well, maybe not stupid. His feelings were valid and he wasn't dramatic about what he'd seen.
But he did feel a little shitty about doubting Eddie.
Eddie, who had literally flown across the country to explain in person so that there was no way Steve could misunderstand him. Eddie, who once Doordashed him soup from his favorite restaurant when he was sick even though he was in Europe. Eddie, who sent letters to the kids in his class once a month to talk about how important music is and following your dreams. Eddie, who loved him for ten years and wouldn't have let anyone get in the way of what they'd built.
Steve fell against Eddie, buried his face in his neck and his hands in his shirt. Eddie's arms wrapped around him, his voice saying something against his shoulder. Steve couldn’t hear him, but he didn’t think he needed to.
He just needed to feel him.
“I’m sorry,” Steve said against his neck. Tears soaked the hoodie under him, and Steve could feel tears against his own button down. “I shouldn’t have- I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay, sweetheart.” Eddie shook his head. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner. I wasn’t supposed to tell anyone until the article hit, but I was still gonna call you and warn you but I didn’t and I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay. This is part of the whole lifestyle. I should be used to it,” Steve shuddered as Eddie’s hand scratched at his scalp. “I should’ve reacted better.”
“We both didn’t treat this the way we should’ve.”
Steve snorted, nodded as he found the spot Eddie had tattooed on his neck a couple years earlier. He pressed his lips over the tattoo of his lip print.
“You flew across the country over this,” Steve pulled away and looked at Eddie, vision blurred from crying. “Just to make things okay.”
“I needed you to know. I needed to hold you. I needed to have you in front of me. And I wanted to celebrate the fact that we’re getting a movie about our lives,” Eddie smirked. “I wonder who will play you. Someone with a nice ass is a must. Their hair will have to defy gravity. Don’t know if they’ll find anyone with that smile, though.”
“Me? Why would they need anyone to play me?” Steve played with the string of the hoodie. “That might be kinda boring.”
“How would they make a movie about me and not include you? You’re the reason I ever made it past Hawkins, sweet thing,” Eddie leaned in to kiss his bottom lip. “Maybe they’ll just cast you. No one else could pull it off.”
“Eds-“ Steve blushed. “Wait. Okay, I trust you, but what were you doing in the picture?”
Eddie laughed. “He had just finished telling me about his boyfriend who lives in Italy. He’s apparently just a regular guy in finance who has no interest in the whole fame thing. Sound familiar?”
“Sounds like you two have a lot in common.”
“The picture was me asking if we could crash at their home in Italy next summer on our honeymoon,” Eddie said casually.
Steve froze. “Honeymoon?”
“I’m open to other places, but you still haven’t been to Italy and I know how much you wanted to see Rome and Florence,” Eddie was smirking.
That bastard.
“You are ridiculous, you know that? I’m over here planning how I’ll survive a breakup with you and you fly across the country to propose with a honeymoon planned before I’ve even said yes! You know how crazy that sounds, right?” Steve shook his head. “You’re lucky I love you. You’re lucky I’m not interested in big romantic gestures.”
“Damn. Hold on, let me make a call,” Eddie reached into his pocket for his phone.
“What?”
“I gotta cancel the big romantic gesture,” Eddie explained as he typed furiously on his phone.
“What the hell are you talking about?”
“It was a whole thing. Robin was involved. There may have been 500 flowers ordered. I think it’s too late to cancel the singing telegram though.”
“I genuinely can’t tell if you’re being serious,” Steve wouldn’t be surprised if at least some of that was true.
“Oh, I’m serious. The ring was being set on the bed in the middle of a heart made of rose petals. I didn’t half-ass a fucking thing, angel.”
Steve pulled his phone out of his hands and set it on his desk. “Don’t cancel anything. I changed my mind. I am very much into big romantic gestures when it’s you doing them.”
“It was a team effort. I mean, I had to move it all up unexpectedly, but this was all gonna happen next month when I came home." Eddie pulled Steve into a long kiss, tongue tracing his lips. He pulled away to rest their foreheads together. "I'm not doing this just because of what happened, but I need you to know you're it for me. You've stuck by me through failing senior year, through being broke trying to book gigs all over the midwest, through the stress of our first album being released and the unexpected overnight fame, every album and tour since then, every time I've had to miss things that matter to you because of the band, all of it. You love me anyway. I don't always deserve it, but I'm grateful."
Steve's lips pressed against Eddie's again. "I love the life we have. I love you."
"I'm not asking you without the ring. I made so many plans. Robin will murder me in my sleep if I don't go through with them," Eddie laughed. "So can we get out of your classroom before I do something inappropriate and get you fired?"
"I mean," Steve glanced at the clock. "Technically all the students should be gone. We could lock the door..."
"Steven Harrington! How dare you suggest I fuck you over your desk in a school! I can't believe you would tell me to unbutton your jeans," he said as he unbuttoned his jeans. "And get on my knees." He got on his knees. "And suck you until you can't stand anymore."
"Eddie!" Steve chuckled, shoving his hand in Eddie's hair. "We should at least lock the door."
"So you're not saying no?"
"Why would I say no?"
"That's what I'm saying!" Eddie got back up and ran to the door, flipping the lock and turning back to Steve with flushed cheeks. "This is like, maybe three of my biggest fantasies in one, so I may actually come in my pants."
"You're ridiculous."
"Baby boy, my hand is my only friend on tour, you know that. How can I possibly hold myself back when I've got your dick in my mouth?" Eddie dropped to his knees again, looking up at Steve with something close to reverence.
"It's not in your mouth yet," Steve smirked as he tugged his waistband down enough to free his cock.
"Oh, I missed you," Eddie said directly to Steve's hard cock. "Steve, I want you to fuck my mouth until I pass out."
"I'm not doing that."
"Okay, well I'll settle for until I have to tap out."
"Fine. But it's not gonna be long for me," Steve shook his head. "Missed you, too."
"The sooner the better, sweetheart."

Not whilst Teddie's around (18+)

writing this fic was an UPHILL BATTLE, so I'm sorry for the questionable quality, but it's finished at least.

“Dude, I’m telling you, horror movies get chicks wetter than you can even imagine. Trust me.” Gareth swears downing the last few sips of his beer.
“Yeah right, like any girl in her right mind would let you come within a ten-foot radius of her, let alone get close enough to get all up in her ‘sex-o-sphere’” Jeff laughs incredulously at his friend.
It was the way that all Corroded Coffin jam sessions ended, with a few beers and typical guy talk.
“You know Cindy Nolan? Works down at the roller-rink? We’ve been hanging out, and I rented Friday The 13th the other night, let me tell you that that girl couldn’t get any closer to me if she tried.”
“Yeah right, you’re full of shit Emerson.” Brandon said, shoving his friend with a nudge of his elbow.
“No, no, come on now, let’s hear him out. Maybe you two girlfriend-less losers could learn a thing or two from him.” Eddie says, shushing Jeff and Brandon’s guffawing. Truthfully, Eddie himself was eager to hear what Gareth had to say. Not that he thought he needed any help with his love-life, far from it, actually. His relationship with you was perfect in his eyes, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t learn a thing or two.
“So we're watching the movie right? and it gets to the real scary bit, the music's all tense and shit, and she's pressed up against me, tucking her face into my shirt, and that's when I make my move.” Gareth says, throwing up finger guns.
“Your move?” Eddie asks with a raised brow.
“Yeah, the ol’ ‘yawn-and-stretch’, I fake a yawn and then I stretch my arm around her shoulder. Then to really sell it, I hit her with the ‘don't worry, I'll protect you from the scary serial killer.’ spiel. From then on, she's practically eating out the palm of my hands. Horror movies, I'm telling you guys, are the way to go.”
Both Jeff and Brandon hold their hands up in defeat.
And all that was on Eddie’s mind was that he was definitely going to have to swing by Family video to check out their selection of horror movies.
Tumblr media
You rounded your way into the living room with the freshly popped bowl of popcorn getting ready to settle next to Eddie under the throw blankets on the couch.
“So what movie did you pick up for tonight?” you asked, reaching for a handful of popcorn.
He flashes you the vhs cover, a jack-o-latern pumpkin with a knife. He gives you a wide and boyish smile as his deep brown eyes sparkle with a cheeky glint. Tonight was the night that he was going to put Gareth’s claim to the test. He had swung by Family Video right after band practice and slapped Halloween tape down on the counter, causing Steve to roll his eyes and let out an annoyed huff. Oh yeah, Eddie had his plan all figured out.
“Jamie Lee Curtis is an absolute force to be reckoned with in the movie.” he says, reaching over to steal a few pieces of popcorn out of your hand.
This is where your tastes in movies differed from Eddie’s. You were more John Hughes, where the laughs were aplenty and the guy got the girl, whilst Eddie was much more John Carpenter, where the screams were aplenty and the killer got their victim.
But despite horror movies not being totally your thing, you were willing to sit and watch if it made Eddie happy.
Snuggled up to Eddie, with the soft blankets keeping you both cosy, he pressed play on the movie.
You wish you could say that you weren't scared, but then you would be lying. Laurie Strode was certainly a much braver woman than you could ever be, because the very idea that Michael Myers was still on the loose sent a shiver down your spine in the worst way. It didn't matter how much you tried to reason with yourself that it was just a film, and that it wasn't real, the scared and uneasy feeling had your heart pounding against your chest as you tucked your face into Eddie's shirt. Hoping that hiding away in the familiar comfort of your boyfriend would go someway to quell the racing of your heart.
Eddie felt terrible. Scratch that, he felt worse than terrible. He felt like the worst boyfriend in the world. As the tense music in the movie swelled, more and more he felt you shrink into yourself and tuck yourself away into his chest. You were scared and it was his fault.
Flicking the remote at the tv to pause the film Eddie softly turns his attention to you.
“Hey, you know we don’t have to watch this if you don’t like it.” he says, brushing a stray hair from your face.
“But I know you like this film, so I thought we could watch it together.”
“Sweetheart, you've had your face hidden in my shirt for almost the past hour, it's okay if you're scared, I'm not going to be mad at you.”
“I'm sorry Teddie, I just really don't like scary films.”
“Come on, nothing’s going to hurt you, not whilst Teddie’s around.” Eddie says, flicking the tv off and throwing the blankets off your bodies before taking your hand in his. “How about we head off to bed, where we can snuggled up and I can keep you safe in my arms.”
Tumblr media
Cuddled into Eddie’s chest, his arms wrapping around you protectively, you feel his lips softly kiss the crown of your head. It’s safe, it’s comforting, it’s everything that you need right now, but somehow it still doesn’t feel like enough.
Eddie feels you squirming in his hold and so he rubs his hand up and down your back in his best attempt to ease you.
“What’s going on with you, huh? You’re still scared about that movie?”
Wordlessly you nod your head, feeling so stupid for letting a fictional murderer frighten you like this.
“You know I’m not going to let anything happen to you right? I’d fight Michael Myers a hundred times over if it meant keeping you safe.”
“Just want to be close to you tonight.” you say softly, as you looked up at him from underneath your eyelashes.
“Yeah? You mean close to you like this?” he says softly as his hands began to wander underneath your oversized sleep-shirt. Underneath your shirt where your skin is soft to his touch. Soft and warm, and the sweet scent of your coconut body wash still lingers on your skin.
“Wanna feel you, please..” You plead, your eyes almost sparkled in the cosily-lit bedroom.
As if he could ever say no to you.
Reaching down between your closely pressed bodies he stroked a hand over himself, already half-hard, because truly it didn't take much to get him excited. Everything about you drove him wild, and just the intimacy of getting hold you close in his arms stirred a growing heat in the pit of his stomach.
He works on taking his boxers off, whilst you work on sliding your panties down your legs and once there is nothing separating you from him he slides himself into you. Filling you slowly to just let you feel every inch of him. Eddie knew that you loved feeling him like this, loved the feel of him inside you. Two bodies moving together as one. Your leg hitched up around Eddie’s slim hips, with your heel pressing into his backside, urging him closer and closer to you.
“This what you wanted, Sweetheart?” Eddie’s voice rasps out as his lips kiss just below your ear, finding that steadily racing pulse point in your neck.  “Just wanted to be close to me, isn’t that right?”
You nod against Eddie’s chest, moaning softly when he shifted his hips ever so slightly.
Eddie manoeuvred around with you in his arms laying you down on the bed, caged safely underneath him.
“You're so beautiful.” He smiles, brushing a stray hair from your face, his deep brown eyes so entirely focused on you. You're the centre of his universe, there's not a moment that he's not thinking about you. And there's no place he'd rather be than right here with you.
Slowly he rolls his hips into you with deep, steady strokes. Drawing back just enough until his tip remains, before sliding himself home into your heat.
Your breath is stolen from your lungs every time Eddie fills you. Playing your body in the perfectly precise way that only he knew how.
Your nails leave little red half-moon crescents in the pale skin of his shoulders as you hold him close, for fear that if you didn’t you might float off into a universe. The calming warmth of Eddie’s skin on yours is the thing that always grounds you to reality. His touch feels like home.
His skilled fingers reach down between your closely pressed bodies to rub eager circles around your clit.
“Just want you to feel good, pretty girl.” his praises rumbled from the back of his throat, heavy with adoring desire.
Your quiet whines turn into breathy moans with every roll of his hips, whilst his deep groans of pleasure are muffled into kisses pressed to the column of your throat.
“I’m close, Teddie..” you manage to get out between unsteady breaths.
“I know, pretty girl, I got you.” he kisses your lips sweetly.
With a few more well-precisioned thrusts he takes you over the edge of pleasure, guiding you through your shuddering high.
And with you looking every inch the goddess of his dreams splayed out underneath him, squeezing him through your orgasm it didn’t take very much before Eddie was stilling his movements, spilling his release into you with a shuddering moan of his own.
He held himself on his forearms above you to brush a thumb over your flushed skin.
“I told you, I’m not going to let anything happen to you. I’m going to keep you safe. Always.”
And you believed him. Because if it was one thing you knew with certainty, it was that Eddie Munson was a man of his word.

Every Baby Needs a Daddy 8
Part 7
The rest of the band had gotten over their shock of the news of Eddie's sudden rut and were having a conversation about sewing or something but Steve was deep in thought.
"I'm telling you, it's both calming and not calming", Jeff said as they walked out of the venue.
Gareth adjusted his jacket. "You get all that from quilting?"
"You remember your dice obsession way back when?"
"Dude, that's all I remember from junior year."
"You guys aren't worried about Eddie?", Steve asked, interjecting.
"Why would we be worried?", Gareth asked.
"He just-", Steve paused when a couple of fans caught them between the sidewalk and the car taking them back to the hotel. It didn't seem prudent for anyone to know why Eddie would be indisposed right now. But he continued when the fans got their autographs and left. "He just went into rut without any warning."
"Yeah, but he's a grown man", Jeff said. "He can handle it."
'Handle it'. How alphas usually handled it was all Steve could think about on the way back to the hotel. Alphas of his previous tax bracket would usually have a designated partner. Whether that was someone they were married to, were promised to, or just someone they had an agreement with, it was odd for an alpha of means to spend a rut alone. So did Eddie already have someone like that?
Was that why he pushed Steve away and took off? So that he could go to them? The initial twinge of heartbreak and rejection was quickly replaced with anger. Who the hell had stolen his alpha away?
"Uhh, is Steve okay?", Grant asked, picking up on the bothered scent he was putting out.
"I need to talk to Eddie", Steve said, arms crossed.
"Chrissy's already with him in his room. She's probably making sure he's all set up", Jeff said.
Chrissy. Corroded Coffin's manager. Completely professional. But also...she was an omega...One that had known Eddie for a long time. When the car parked, Steve got out, forging ahead to the suite he and Eddie were sharing.
"Steve? Steve! We're telling you man, it's gonna be okay", Jeff tried to reassure him.
"And no one's gonna blame you", Gareth added.
That got Steve to stop in his tracks just as he was about to press the button for the elevators. "What do you mean blame me? For what?"
All three of them looked anywhere but him. Steve put his hands on his hips, not allowing them to get out of answering his question. Jeff was the one that broke.
"His rut, Steve. I think it's pretty obvious it only happened because... well, you and he, you know..."
Yes, Steve did know. It didn't take a genius to figure it out. Decades of science had proven that in certain conditions, this situation could happen. He let out a puff of laughter and ran his hands through his hair.
Honestly, if you had asked him, Steve would’ve figured that Eddie would have triggered his heat first. He’d heard the stories of having your hormones knocked out of whack by an alpha and having an off-cycle heat. So having to deal with his rut out of the blue was definitely a surprise.
Looking back on the past twenty four hours, anyone from the outside would have thought that Steve had been purposely trying to start it. But his sweet, sweet alpha and treated the situation like he was inconveniencing Steve. He had pushed Steve away, probably for his own good.
When he allowed himself to calm down and think about it, the idea that Eddie was getting his rocks off to someone else right now was just unbelievable. They had agreed. Exclusive. Which meant Eddie intended to ride this out alone.
“You don’t have to worry about Eddie”, Gareth said. “You can bunk with one of us while we wait for it to pass.”
“I’m not going to leave him”, Steve said quickly.
He pushed the elevator button and when the doors opened, he went inside. Grant and the others followed him. They stood behind Steve, trying to have a silent conversation on how to proceed.
"I can hear you guys bugging out", Steve said without turning. "It'll be fine." It wasn't even a matter of choice. His alpha needed him.
When the doors opened, he led the brigade and took his key card out. Inside, Chrissy was ending a call and Eddie was nowhere to be seen. She frowned a little at Steve.
"You shouldn't be here."
"I'm here to help Eddie", Steve said.
She looked disappointed at the band behind him, as if they were supposed to keep him away before giving Steve her attention again.
"Look, Steve, I know you're nice. But it's a liability thing. You could get hurt and Eddie's a public figure. Or maybe you'll use this to baby trap him, I don't know. But I can't let you use my friend that way."
Steve let out a hiss at the accusation. He had to remind himself and his omega that Eddie wasn't actually his alpha, that they weren't mated. She was completely in her rights as a friend and manager to protect her friend.
"Eddie won't hurt me. Chrissy, you know that stereotype about alphas during rut is nothing but BS. And I'm on birth control, so no pups are coming out of me any time soon."
"Baby, Chrissy", Eddie called out as he came out of the bedroom.
Steve ran up to him but Eddie grabbed his hands, keeping him at arms length. Steve frowned, but understood. They never really discussed what to do if one of them went into their cycles. But Eddie was still of a clear mind. They had time to discuss it now.
"Do you trust him?", Chrissy asked.
"With my signed copy of Lord of the Rings", Eddie smiled.
Steve's brow rose. "By Tolkien?"
"No, by McKellen. Which is better. The thing is, I don't trust myself around you while I'm like this."
Steve pouted a bit and let go of Eddie's hands, turning back to the rest of the group. "Do you mind giving us some privacy? I promise, if he turns me away, I'll come to one of your rooms."
"Text me before you guys get too....you know...", Chrissy said. "We can make accommodations."
"Will do", Steve said as he walked over to the couch while they left him and Eddie alone. Once they were, Steve patted the space next to him. Eddie came over, but only sat on the far opposite side.
“Angel, you shouldn’t be here. I’m not safe.”
Steve rolled his eyes. “Eddie, you’re a pre-rut alpha. Not an insatiable lust monster.”
“But we never talked about this…you doing this for me, being my-m-my-”
“Shh”, Steve put a finger to his lips. “You’ve been taking such good care of me. I just wanna return the favor.” Then he let out an exaggerated sigh and turned away, standing up “But if you don’t want me here-”
He heard a loud thump that was probably the from Eddie rushing and falling off the couch to stop him. He felt Eddie hug him from behind, gentle, like he was afraid of breaking him.
"I want to. Christ alive, I want to. But I...what if I'm too much? What if I cross the line?"
Steve turned in his arms and kissed his nose. "Then we need to draw a line in the sand first."
Eddie nodded. "Okay. Okay, I can do that." His hands were already toeing the line, inching under Steve's shirt. "Maybe we have this conversation with some space between us?"
Steve conceded to that. He didn't want to get distracted either. So they sat back down on the couch, apart but not too far apart.
"Sooo, what am I allowed to do?", Eddie asked.
"Anything", Steve breathed out before composing himself. Eddie's scent was getting stronger but he had to not think with his pussy for once. "I mean, just what we've done before. All of that is fine."
"What if I wanna bite you?", Eddie swallowed.
"You know you're allowed to do that", Steve smirked. He was still sporting some of the marks from earlier.
"Even if I wanted to...", Eddie's eyes went to his neck. "Once I'm in rut, I'll really want it. I'll wanna make you mine. In any way I can."
'Don't think with your cunt, don't think with your cunt. Make a rational decision-god our babies would be so beautiful-but we're not ready to be mated-he's such a good alpha, perfect alpha, could raise our pups good, keep them safe and-'
"We can, um", Steve cleared his throat and looked around for something. He got up, just to get some space and also think of something that would keep him from getting a mating bite tonight even though that was all he wanted. He saw something on the bed and went right for it.
"Perfect!", he exclaimed, returning with the black bandana Eddie had been wearing during the concert. It was saturated with his scent. Steve folded it to a rectangular band and then tied it around his neck. "This is off limits", he said. "And your alpha brain won't fight because-"
"Because it already smells like you're mine. Sweet thing, you're a genius", Eddie beamed. He got off the couch and pulled Steve in his arms, kissing him sweetly. He took in a deep breath and released a full body shudder. "It's working already."
"Oh yeah?", Steve couldn't help looking smug.
"Mhm. It's like you've already got my bite." Eddie started to kiss at his jaw. "And it's making me wonder why I haven't got you pupped up yet."
Steve could've swooned but he had to keep his wits about him for as long as he could. "There's one more thing."
"Hm?", Eddie looked up, his eyes were already starting to get the moony look.
"You're not going to be entirely yourself. I know that. So like I said, I'm gonna take care of you. That means you listen to me. I'm in charge, okay?"
Eddie nodded rapidly. "You're in charge. Got it."
"Good alpha", Steve stroked his hair. With any luck, the tour schedule wouldn't be messed up too badly. Alpha ruts typically lasted around 3-5 days. It would've been longer if he had to go solo. There was the idea still being passed around that an alpha's rut would end when they were convinced their partner had conceived, but Steve wasn't sure how he was supposed to trick Eddie's alpha into thinking that.
But the important part was that they'd decided what to do and Steve was taking him to bed.
"You know, the guys think that I triggered your rut", Steve said.
"And don't you look proud", Eddie grinned, lying in bed next to him. He frowned and sniffed at the comforter. "Doesn't smell right. Doesn't smell like us."
Us. Steve felt himself get wet. Well, wetter. He was going to be Eddie's omega. At least while his rut was going on.
"Do you know what I was thinking, while I was watching you on stage earlier?", Steve asked.
Eddie swallowed and shook his head. Steve pushed him onto his back and sat on his lap. Eddie looked perfect under him and between his legs like this.
"I was thinking about how sexy you looked. How everybody couldn't take their eyes off you, but you were only looking at me." Steve started a slow grind and watched as Eddie's eyes darkened. "And how I wanted to ride you all night long."

Who's Counting?
Day #4 - Prompt: Eddie | Word Count: 1000 | Rating: T | CW: Language | POV: Eddie | Pairing: Steddie | Tags: Future Fic, Famous Corroded Coffin, Older Steddie, Exes to Lovers, Let's Try This Again, One More Time
Tumblr media
Hoping tonight won't be the night that his skin-fucking-tight leather pants split right up the asscrack when he squats down, Eddie drops into a crouch right in front of center stage. Looking into the eyes of the guy right in front of him.
And nearly falls into the pit.
Steve Harrington is looking back at him. Older, and more gorgeous than ever. Looking right into Eddie's eyes the way he is, makes Eddie miss the next line, but he recovers, gripping the wedge monitor at his side to stand back up.
Turning his back on the crowd. On Steve. Again.
What the fuck?
This can't be happening.
They couldn't be together, but they couldn't be apart. Until they were, and now here Steve is. Forty-something, and fucking fine.
Eddie finishes his song, the set, but he's off-balance. Rattled in a way he hasn't been on stage in decades.
As soon as they step off the stage, Gareth slings his arm around Eddie's waist, leaning close, "So, what'd you do up there? Shit your pants? You froze like a goddamn rube."
Eddie laughs, but turns to look at his best friend, "Steve was right there."
"Oh fuck, goddamn. I'd rather have shit my pants than come face-to-face with any of my ex-lovers."
"Don't say lovers," Eddie says. He doesn't know what he and Steve Harrington were, but lovers sounds wrong. They were just two kids that couldn't make it work, no matter how hard they tried, or how many times.
"You gonna find him?" Gareth asks, like that's an actual option.
"In a crowd of forty-two thousand? Yeah, I'll get right on it," Eddie snaps, but yeah, of course he's going to do exactly that. He knows he is, Gareth knows he is, because he'll always go to Steve if there's a chance. Any chance.
"Yeah, okay. Don't get mobbed," Gareth says, squeezing Eddie's side with his hand way too hard, then he's gone.
Eddie's showered, pulled his hair up off his neck, and is standing outside the venue, watching the remaining crowd slowly file out. Stragglers.
Steve's gone. Steve's always been gone.
Just out of his grasp, never his to hang onto for long.
Eddie pushes off the wall, turns the corner of the arena, and down in the distance is a familiar figure, leaning against the wall.
Eddie laughs, and the sound must echo and carry, because Steve turns to look at him.
"Wrong side!" Eddie yells, pointing at the building as he jogs towards Steve.
"We always were out of sync like that," Steve says as soon as Eddie's approaches, standing straight and opening his arms. Eddie barrels into him, hugging him around the neck.
"Good to see you," Eddie says, because it is. It hurts, it always hurts, always will, but it's been way too long.
"You too, Eddie," Steve answers, pressing his face to Eddie's neck.
He smells good, his hairspray and cologne, familiar.
Eddie pulls back before he does anything stupid.
"How's the missus?" Eddie asks, holding onto Steve's elbows.
"Ex-missus, these days," Steve says, and it feels like Eddie's heart turns over in his chest.
"Oh, I hadn't heard that. I'm sorry," Eddie says, even if he's not sorry, not really. That's not true. He wants Steve to be happy, and he thought he would be when he got married. Both times.
Steve smiles, "Thanks. It's not new news. Not now. I figured Henderson told you."
Henderson definitely did no such thing, the little prick.
"He didn't," Eddie answers, "and he'll pay for that."
Steve laughs, "Don't be too hard on him. You know he was just trying to avoid implosion number, what would it be now, six?"
Eddie grins. Six, eight, ten, who's counting?
"Wanna get a drink? Talk about which accelerant we should try this time?"
Steve laughs, and gives him that warm smile he's missed so goddamn much, "Definitely."
Eddie's hand is high on Steve's thigh in the fancy hotel bar, in a secluded room Eddie's name opened the door to, with ease.
It feels different this time, easier, and Eddie hopes that this is not just his big fucking blindspot for Steve Harrington rearing it's ugly head.
"You got a room upstairs?" Steve asks.
And the grin on Eddie's face feels ear-to-ear and wicked, "You know I do, big boy."
Eddie drags his tongue up Steve's belly, and maps all the changes.
"What happened here?" Eddie asks, running his tongue over a new scar. Healed, but fresher than the bat bites.
"Appendix burst. Nearly died," Steve says, like that isn't the most horrifying thing Eddie's ever heard.
Eddie whines, and Steve laughs, "I'm fine. You're being dramatic. Just like Robin was about it."
Eddie's not. He knows he's not, and neither was Robin. But at least she got to know.
"Oh, you almost died and nobody told me. That's cool. Love that," Eddie says, sarcastic.
"If it'd gotten bad, somebody would have called you," Steve assures, and Eddie isn't sure that's true. Not anymore.
Eddie doesn't want to talk about it, though. So, he runs his rough fingers over Steve's chest, making sure there isn't anything else new he needs to know about. Not finding anything, he leans down and kisses Steve's stomach, loving the feel of the rough hair under his mouth.
He's missed Steve. All of him, and he hadn't been prepared for him to stumble back into his life after all this time. It'd been too long, he thought Steve was married, again, and Eddie would never be over it, over him, even if he'd learned to do without him. Had to. He hadn't had a choice.
And now here Steve is, back under Eddie's hands.
"I've missed you," Eddie says, and Steve cards his hand through Eddie's hair, grinning.
"Me too, Eddie. Think we can do it this time?"
Eddie has no fucking clue. History says no, but his heart says yes, so he looks right in Steve's eyes, smiles, and declares, "Fuck yeah, we will."

One. Big. Step.
written for @steddiemicrofic (Prompt: one | 1111 words) and @steddie-week (Day 2, Prompt: Touch Starved) Rating: Teen and Up Relationship: Steve/Eddie TW: none Words: 1111
The anticipation is what makes Eddie antsy.
When someone starts to walk toward him, his heart starts beating faster and louder, his ears buzz, his breathing gets too accelerated (air hunger, as his mom used to call it), and he begins to sweat, profusely, leaving a dark damp stain under the armpit of his t-shirts, which is the main reason he always wears black t-shirts. Or t-shirts with black sleeves.
When the person walking toward him is Steve the Hair Harrington, well, it's even worse.
Eddie's tongue gets entangled in his mouth and when he's finally able to speak a few words, the ones that come from his mouth are either stupid or cruel. But even if Eddie hates himself for that, in some ways it works perfectly well because Steve freezes, a sad smile painted on his face, and mutters, "I'll see you around, Munson," before turning and leaving Eddie alone, which is exactly what he wants. Because Eddie the banished has only one big fear: being touched.
It's a fear that comes from afar and even if Eddie is ashamed of it, it’s not something Eddie will overcome easily.
In his entire life touch meant hurt. Every time Al Munson came home drunk, every time a policeman caught him stealing some food, every time a teacher dragged him to the principal office, their touch meant hurt. And pain. And blood.
Those people left a wound in Eddie’s soul; a wound he’s not sure it will ever heal.
It doesn't help that the only person he trusts is not very outgoing either.
Wayne never hurt him, but never tried to touch him either.
And now he’s untouchable.
None in the Hellfire Club dares to hug him, not even Gareth, who has been his best friend since they were kids. To be honest, Gareth is his shield, the best one he could have ever asked for. He's the one who detects Eddie's anxiety and puts himself between the threat and his best friend and in Eddie’s opinion, that’s fucking metal.
It doesn't matter if most of the time the threat is just a girl asking for a pen during English class or a boy getting too close to Eddie in the cafeteria. Gareth is there, ready to lend a pen or step between Eddie and the rest of the world.
Gareth is the person who knows Eddie intimately. He knows about his past, that he deals to make ends meet, and that there's a kind spirit hidden under the metal jewelry and the fake attitude. What Gareth doesn't know, it's that even if Eddie is scared of touch, he has finally met someone who makes him feel butterflies in his stomach and almost makes him wish for things he never thought were possible for him, like holding hands or even kissing. And that person is Steve Harrington.
Eddie knows that there's something between the two of them, a kind of opposite attraction they both feel, but how can he surrender to the pull he feels when even the idea of getting close to Steve makes him shit his pants?
"Maybe you should start gradually." Gareth wisely proposes when Eddie finally confesses his tribulation to him, "Choose someone you trust and ask him to touch you or something like that."
"Wouldn't that be weird? Like… Hi, can you hold my hand for a moment? Don't worry if I freak out, it's a normal reaction."
"You could start with Wayne." Gareth replies, gulping down his soda in the hot Indiana summer, "He knows you're weird."
"Why didn't I think of that? Hi Wayne, can you hug me? Yeah, I'm weird and I'm also gay and I need some physical contact before I try to hold hands with my crush. Very subtle and not suspicious at all. He won't kick me out of the trailer. No sir."
Gareth sighs, slouching on Eddie's broken couch, "You know he wouldn't. He had so many reasons to kick you out and he never did, but if you don't want to ask him, I get it. What if I volunteer?" Gareth asks, reaching out with one arm.
He gives Eddie the time to stop him or move away, but the metalhead swallows all his fears and gives him a little nod.
The contact between Gareth's calluses hand and Eddie's elbow it's not pleasurable, but it doesn't make him jump out of his skin either.
"You ok?"
Eddie nods, quietly, focusing on the feeling and identifying every single sensation. The warmth of Gareth's skin, the roughness of his hand, the steadiness of his arm. Eddie closes his eyes, takes a few deep breaths, and then he whispers, "Stop."
Gareth immediately releases his soft grip, his eyes pinned on Eddie, "Still ok?"
"Yeah. I got a bit overwhelmed." Eddie confesses, turning his attention towards a dog barking a few feet away. Noticing Eddie's attention the dog starts to pull at the chain even harder barking in his direction and Eddie wonders why a barking dog is less scary than a friendly touch.
"We could do a little exposure therapy if you want. Here at the trailer, where you're more comfortable and none can see us.”
With a snort, complaining in a low voice that exposure therapy seems even more complicated than dealing in a small town like Hawkins, Eddie begrudgingly agrees to do a few cuddling sessions, as Gareth mockingly calls them, every day after band practice.
Maybe it's not a lot, but sitting close to each other on the same bench, or brushing their fingers while sharing a joint seems to be really helping, and after a couple of months, when Dustin invites them to see a movie at Steve's place, for the first time Eddie seats on the couch, not on the bean bag as usual. Dustin stares at him open-mouthed, but a stern look from Gareth is all it takes to get his attention back on the screen.
When Steve gets back with a couple of bowls of popcorn, the only empty seat is the couch where Eddie is already making himself comfortable, putting his feet on the coffee table while yelling something against the movie director.
Turning toward Steve, Eddie simply asks "Aren't you going to sit?"
Steve gives the biggest bowl to Dustin and puts the small one in the middle of the couch, to keep some space between them, and when their fingers brush above the popcorn bowl and Eddie doesn't retreat, Steve gives him the best smile ever.
Maybe sitting on the same couch watching a movie with the kids isn't the most romantic thing ever, but it's a step. One. Big. Step.

Things you said through someone else -- steddie! For the ask thingy 😄💛
(This is so old but I finally have the energy and the idea for it, so here we go!)
Steve cheers every time it starts raining. He's not a fan of getting rained on, and lightning makes him uneasy after a few too many trips to the Upside Down, but rain means people stay inside, and when people stay inside, they're not at Family Video.
It is dead, and it is glorious.
Robin amuses herself by stacking as many tapes as she can on the front counter. She's up to twenty seven and has climbed onto the counter to keep the tower going. Steve occasionally blows on it , just to see the tower shake and laugh as Robin frantically tries to stabilize it.
He bets she'll make it to thirty six before it falls. There's no way she'll make it all the way to the ceiling.
While Robin stacks the tapes, Steve relays the story Dustin told him, in typical dramatic Dustin fashion, about Eddie cancelling Hellfire last night in favor of going to see a local band they really like at a bar a few towns over. He's almost at the point where he has to do an impression of Dustin doing an impression of Eddie, which is as ridiculous as it sounds, when the bell on the front door rings.
Rather than groan aloud, Steve and Robin send each other matching help me looks.
Robin hops down from the counter but makes no move to dismantle her teetering tower of tapes. Steve looks around them to see Eddie and the guys from his band walking in and brushing the rain off their jackets.
"Hey guys," he says because he knows them, he's been to a few band practices. "What's up?"
Eddie beams at the sound of Steve's voice and waves very dramatically, but he doesn't say anything. Instead, he writes something down in red crayon on what has to be an absolutely drenched notepad. He passes it to Gareth, who rolls his eyes.
"Eddie lost his voice last night at the show, but that didn't stop him from dragging us here," he says. His own voice is scratchy, and Eddie elbows him for his dead tone.
Robin rolls her eyes, amused.
"Okay, but why come here?" Steve says. "If you're not feeling well-"
Jeff pokes Eddie. "Come on. You're the one who dragged us here because you can't talk."
"Well, all of us didn't need to be here," Archie adds.
"All of us have to witness this," Jeff says, and Archie nods, satisfied.
Eddie waves his hands frantically in an unmistakable stop talking gesture before he keeps writing on his notepad.
Steve tries valiantly not to laugh. One look at Robin's matching expression of these guys are ridiculous ruins it instantly.
Eddie makes eye contact with him, and Steve watches as he turns bright red as he keeps writing.
That totally doesn't do anything to Steve. Nope. Not at all. Because he totally didn't realize that he might not have completely heterosexual feelings for Eddie as of... last week.
Okay, they've been around for longer, a lot longer, but Steve wasn't able to catch on to that until very recently.
Other people's emotions? Easy, very clear. His own? No thank you.
Eddie tears off the top sheet of the notepad and hands it to Gareth.
"Jesus, Eddie, I can't read this," he says, and he passes it to Archie.
He takes it, squints, and says, "I refuse to read this."
Steve has never seen Eddie look more embarrassed. It shouldn't be as cute as it is.
Jeff snatches the note out of Archie's hand, and reads, out loud, "I was out last night and all I could think of was how much better of a time I would have had if you were there. Date, Saturday, 7:00, I'll pick you up, yes/no?"
Everyone freezes. Gareth and Archie stare at Eddie incredulously, Jeff holds the note far away from him, like it'll give him cooties, Eddie has his head in both of his hands, Robin looks one stiff breeze away from a laughing fit, and Steve-
Wait. Eddie feels the same way?
And then Robin's tape tower clatters to the floor, breaking the silence.
"Eddie, that's some middle school shi-"
"Damn, okay, guess we weren't enough fun for you, I'm joking, I promise-"
"Oh my god you couldn't even wait-"
"Yeah," Steve says.
Everyone stops and looks at him. Eddie takes his head out of his hands, big eyes hopeful.
"It's a date," Steve says. "But I'm driving, maniac."
Eddie's smile is blinding, and then, all at once, his friends pile on him.
"Let's go!" Jeff yells.
"I can't believe that shit work- ouch, Archie."
Robin laughs with them and gives Steve a hug of her own.
"You're never letting him live this down, are you?" she whispers.
"Absolutely not," Steve says.
"Alright, get out of here!" Robin says when she pulls back. "Get some vocal rest and find someplace dry that isn't here. You'll attract customers if you stay, and God knows we don't want that."
The guys laugh, high-fiving Steve and Robin on the way out.
Eddie is the last to leave. Steve can tell he wants to talk, can see how he opens his mouth before he remembers that no sound will come out.
"See you Saturday," he says for him.
Eddie nods and leaves when Archie yells at him to unlock the van.
Steve watches them pull out of the lot as Robin starts reassembling her tape stack.
When a car pulls into the lot and out comes a mother and her two kids who will definitely take every tape off the shelf and definitely ask too many questions and actually will make them work, Steve and Robin look at each other and say, in unison:
"Goddammit."
There are some people even the rain won't stop.
Though, Steve supposes as the bell on the front door rings, maybe that's a good thing.
Prompts here.

Need You Tonight- Eddie Munson x Fem!Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: The entire town thinks you and Eddie are dating so why aren't the two of you? Based on this request by @friendly-neighborhood-ghoul : Eddie idiots to lovers smut request!! You and Eddie are best friends and have been forever. You and Eddie tease back and forth casually; most people think you are already in a relationship together, but no. You both wish you were, however, because you are both in love with each other. You are at his place smoking, and you decide to serenade and tease him to N.I.B by Black Sabbath. While watching you, Eddie realizes it’s time to make a move; it’s now or never!! Words: 3.1k Warnings: SMUT (18+, minors dni), fingering, p in v sex, slight angst but not much, drug use
You dump the videos on the table in front of Steve who picks them up to check you out.
‘These movies are terrible, you know?’ Steve says as he looks through them.
‘Yeah but they’re great when you're stoned.’ You laugh slightly.
‘You hanging with Eddie tonight then?’
‘Yeah, just the usual.’ You shrug.
‘Well, what are the two of you doing on Saturday?’ Steve asks as he hands the videos over to you.
‘Not much, I don’t think. Eddie’s got band practice but nothing else. Why?’
‘Well I’m going out with this girl and she’s not completely comfortable with going out alone so I said I would make it a double date.’
‘Okay, we can do that but why me and Eddie?’ You ask confused.
‘Because you guys are one of the only couples I know.’ Steve shrugs and you gawk at his words.
‘Couple? Me and Eddie aren’t dating.’ You look at Steve with a frown.
‘Yes you are, everyone in town knows it.’
‘Everyone aside from me and Eddie apparently.’
‘So even though you’re both totally into each other, you’re just friends?’ Steve smirks at you.
‘Eddie doesn’t like me.’ You sigh.
‘He calls you babe, he’s always touching you, he flirts with you. How does he not like you exactly?’ Steve said, rolling his eyes.
‘That’s just him being friendly. He’s my best friend.’ You shrug.
‘Yeah and he acts like that around his other friends?’
‘I’m his best friend, of course, he acts differently around me.’
‘Okay, well just stay in denial.’
‘I will. I’ll see you later.’ You said walking out. As you made your way over to your car you saw Gareth walking towards you.
‘Hey, Gar!’ You yell out.
‘Oh hey, how are you?’
‘I’m good. Umm quick question, you know I’m single, right?’
‘You and Eddie broke up? When did that happen?’ He looked at you shocked.
‘We didn’t break up, we’ve never dated.’
‘Huh, I was sure you guys started dating like 2 years ago.’ Gareth said looking confused.
‘Nope, I think I’d know if we had.’
‘Wow, weird. And to think Jeff wanted to ask you to Homecoming.’ Gareth said, before his eyes widened, realising he probably shouldn’t have told you that.
‘Yeah, I wouldn’t have said yes, anyway. I love Jeff but as a friend.’ That and the massive crush you had on Eddie meant you just couldn’t develop feelings for another guy no matter how hard you tried.
‘Well, I’ve got to run. I’m meeting Eddie.’ You tell Gareth, walking towards your car.
‘Eddie, your not boyfriend?’ Gareth laughs as you unlock your car door.
‘Yes, my not boyfriend. Bye.’ You tell him as you get into your car and head towards the trailer park.
‘Guess what?’ You say as you burst into Eddie’s trailer.
‘Hello to you too.’ Eddie said, looking up from where he sat on the couch.
‘Hey.’ You say placing the bag with snacks and movies on the counter in the kitchen area.
‘So what was so important you couldn’t even be bothered saying hi to your best friend?’
‘Okay so Steve was working at the video store today-‘
‘So the same as every other day.’ Eddie cut you off.
‘Yeah, now don’t interrupt me.’ You lightly hit him on the chest and he reacts in mock pain, making you roll your eyes. ‘So he asks if I want to go on a double date with him with my boyfriend.’
‘You have a boyfriend and you told Steve but not me!’ Eddie said, genuinely annoyed that you hadn’t told him about your boyfriend. He was your best friend, not Steve.
‘No, I don’t have a boyfriend but Steve thought I did and he thought it was you.’ Eddie stared at you for a moment before bursting out laughing. You tried to keep the disappointed look off your face. You knew Eddie didn’t want to date you but finding the idea that the two of you were dating funny hurt.
‘God, Harrington can be such a dumbass sometimes.’ Eddie laughed.
‘Well, he’s not the only one cause I ran into Gareth afterwards and apparently the whole of Hellfire thinks we're dating.’ You cross your arms. Was the idea of dating you really that bad?
‘But Gareth knows that-‘ Eddie quickly cut himself off.
‘Gareth knows what?’ You glare at him suspiciously.
‘Nothing, nothing. Anyway, you wanna go smoke because I’ve got a new strain that I want to try?’ Eddie rambles on.
‘Fine but don’t think I’m letting you off that easy.’ You say walking through to Eddie’s bedroom and kicking off your shoes before flopping down on the bed. Eddie follows closely behind you and heads over to his dresser, digging around until he finds the small box containing his personal supply. He pulls out a bag and some rolling papers throwing them over to you.
‘You roll, I’ll put on some music.’ He heads over to his cassette collection, looking through it.
‘Fine, I’m better at rolling than you anyway.’ You shoot back, smiling slightly as you work on rolling the joint.
‘Yeah, that’s why if you could roll a couple extra for me to smoke later that would be great.’ He looks back at you and smiles. You roll your eyes but Eddie knows you’ll do it for him.
‘Sabbath, okay?’ He asks pulling out a cassette and putting it in the player.
‘Do I really have a choice?’ You ask as you light up the now rolled joint, holding it in your mouth as you roll some more.
‘Nope.’ Eddie said, flopping down next to you and pulling the joint out your mouth, taking a hit. You weren’t complaining about the music choice. You liked Sabbath. You just liked joking around with Eddie even more.
‘Can you give me a hit while I’m rolling for you?’ You ask Eddie, who obliges, holding the joint in front of your face, as you put your lips around it.
‘God, I’ve got your spit on me now. The things I do for you.’ Eddie sighs, dramatically wiping his hand on his jeans.
‘First of all, my mouth was nowhere near your hand. Second of all, according to half of Hawkins, you are my boyfriend.’ You smile at him, placing the bag now full of pre-rolled joints on his bedside table and turning to face him.
‘Don’t say that.’ Eddie grimaces, looking away from you.
‘Wow, the idea of dating me that bad?’ You ask, grabbing the joint from him. You had no idea what was in this strain but it was hitting you hard and you felt all your inhibitions melting away.
‘No!’ Eddie protested loudly, turning back to look at you. ‘It’s just that you’re you, you know?’
‘No, I don’t know.’ You could see how red Eddie was but you couldn’t stop teasing him.
‘You’re my best friend, the girl I’ve been hanging around with for like ten years. I wouldn’t want to you know. God stop looking at me with that smirk on your face.’ Eddie said pushing your face away from him as you laughed.
‘Okay, I’ll stop. It’s just funny to see you all flustered.’ You hand the joint back over to him and the two of you sit and smoke in a comfortable silence.
‘So what does Gareth know?’ You eventually ask him and he immediately turns bright red again.
‘Damn, I thought you’d have forgotten about that.’ Eddie said rubbing the back of his neck.
‘I don’t forget anything. I still remember the bicycle incident.’ You playfully glared at him.
‘We were 13!’ He yells.
‘Yeah and I’m pretty sure I lost my virginity thanks to that.’ You joke back.
‘I’m pretty sure you lost your virginity in the back seat of Todd Martin’s car.’ He shoots back.
‘Well, yeah officially but stop changing the topic and tell me.’ You poke him in the side causing him to wiggle away from you.
‘It’s nothing honestly.’ You pout at him.
‘I thought we told each other everything but now you're telling me there’s stuff that Gareth knows about you that I don’t.’
‘No, it was just something stupid.’ He shrugs.
‘Wait we were talking about how relationships, do you have a girlfriend I don’t know about or something?’ You ask offended. If Eddie was in a relationship it would break your heart but it would break it even more if he had kept it hidden from you.
‘God no, nothing like that. You know none of the girls in this town would date me.’ Eddie sighed. You wanted to scream at him that you would but you didn’t.
‘Who gives a fuck about girls in this town? They don’t deserve to date the great Eddie Munson.’ You were included in that. You were nowhere near good enough to date someone as amazing as him.
‘Well, there is one girl.’ Eddie murmurs, so quiet you almost miss it but you don’t.
‘So you like someone then. Who?’ You sit up, wanting to know who had managed to capture his attention.
‘It’s no one. It’ll never happen so it doesn’t matter.’ He shrugs and you look over at him.
‘You don’t know that.’
‘Believe me, I do.’
‘Tell me who it is, I guarantee she’s into you as well.’
‘Absolutely not.’
‘Please’ You pout at him.
‘No.’ You don’t know if it’s the weed in your system that makes you bold but you move over to straddle his lap, tickling his sides.
‘Tell me.’ You ask as he squirms beneath you. He continues to say that he won’t tell you as you tickle him mercilessly. You suddenly stop, realising how close your face is to his, so close that you can feel his breath on your face. You stared into his eyes, willing him to lean in slightly and connect your lips.
‘I really like this song.’ Eddie mumbles, breaking you out of your trance.
‘Yeah me too.’ You say. You start to sing along quietly to the song, not getting off Eddie’s lap. Eddie laughs quietly and you also start to smile, dancing slightly as you sing, running your hands along Eddie’s chest. You knew this was a bad idea, that you were making your feelings obvious to Eddie and it would change your friendship forever. But you didn’t care.
Eddie’s hands suddenly moved up to your hips and gripped them hard, stopping your movement. He sat up, looking you in the eye as he repositioned you on his lap.
‘The girl I like-‘ Eddie whispers, pressing your foreheads together, ‘-is you.’ Your breath hitched. You couldn’t believe that Eddie liked you too. You wanted to pinch yourself to see if this was real and not a dream.
‘Please respond.’ Eddie said, nervousness lacing his voice.
‘I like you too, Eddie. I have for a long time.’ That was all it took for Eddie to respond, leaning in and kissing you hard. You immediately kissed back, moving one of your hands to wrap in his hair. You parted your lips and he slipped his tongue into your mouth, one of his hands moving to grip your thigh hard. You moved your hips against him, grinding slightly as he moaned into your mouth pulling away from you.
‘Don’t do that.’ He breathes out, his hands still gripping you hard.
‘Why not?’ You frowned, had you taken it too far?
‘Because if you do I won’t be able to control myself.’
‘What if I want you to lose control?’ That’s all it took for him to react, leaning in and kissing you again. His hands slid under your shirt, moving to grip your breasts through your bra. He started to palm them hard, as he moves his lips down to your neck, sucking hard as you groaned out. You moved your hands from his neck, down to the bottom of your shirt, pulling it over your head. Eddie reached to pull off his own shirt, grinning slightly as you moved your hands back to undo your bra, sliding it off.
‘Fuck, you’re tits are even more perfect than I imagined.’ Eddie groaned out as he stared down.
‘So you imagined what my tits looked like?’ You smirked as you ran your hands up his chest, placing them on his shoulders.
‘Yeah, so many times.’ He admitted, clearly holding himself back as he stared at your tits.
‘Well then, stop resisting.’ You leaned forward, kissing his neck down to his chest tattoos. He moved his hands back to your tits playing with them as you kept pressing kisses all over his chest. He moved one of his hands to grip your hair, lightly pulling you away from him as he bowed his head down to kiss your breasts. He pressed kisses in a circle around your nipple before taking your nipple into his mouth, sucking hard. You started to grind on him again as you moaned, feeling his hardness pressing into your jean-covered crotch. You wanted so desperately to reach down and undo your jeans.
‘Eddie, baby, please.’ You whined out, pressing your crotch into him harder. He removed his mouth from your nipple, smirking up at you.
‘What do you want?’ He asks, his hands moving to toy with the button on your jeans.
‘Fuck me, touch me, anything.’ He unbuttoned your jeans, pulling them down slightly. You moved off his lap slightly to kick them off. Eddie ran a finger over your underwear, letting out a light groan as he felt how wet you were. He pushed your underwear to the side, moving his finger to rub your clit slowly. You moaned, leaning forward and pressing your face into his shoulder, biting down slightly. He sped up the pace on your clit, rubbing in circles. You continued to moan, your pussy clenching as you felt your orgasm building. You had always known Eddie would be skilled with his fingers but you didn’t think he would bring you to orgasm this fast. He removed his fingers from your clit but it was only for a moment, his thumb pressing against you as he slid his fingers inside you.
‘Fuck, Eddie.’ You moaned out as his fingers moved at a steady pace in and out of you. You moved your head from his shoulder, kissing him hard, moving your hand down to palm him through his jeans. You groaned loudly, feeling yourself coming closer and closer to your orgasm, your hand that wasn’t on his crotch, digging into his shoulder, leaving crescent-shaped marks.
‘You going to come for me, baby?’ He asked, pulling away from your lips. You nodded slightly, whimpering as he sped up the movements on your clit. You felt yourself clench around his fingers as you came hard, moaning out his name as you did so. He slowly moved his fingers in and out of you, before pulling them out of you, bringing them to his mouth and licking them clean as you rested your head on his shoulder and you breathed heavily. Eddie wrapped his arms around you, holding you close.
You should still feel his hardness pressing into you and you lifted your head up, pressing your lips against his hard. You moved your hands down, undoing his jeans and pulling them down slightly along with his underwear, revealing his hard cock.
‘Babe, you don’t have to.’ Eddie said pulling away from you.
‘I know, I want to.’ You licked your palm, moving it down to pump his cock a few times, as he groaned out. You wanted to move down and feel his cock in your mouth but even more so you wanted him inside you.
‘You got a condom?’ You asked as you kept jerking him with your hand.
‘Yeah, fuck, just let me.’ He reached over to his bedside table, rummaging around in his drawer for a moment before pulling out the foil package. He ripped it open, and you removed your hand from his cock as he rolled the condom down while you pulled your underwear off, throwing them somewhere in the room. Once it was on properly he leaned forward and pressed a kiss again your lips. You lifted your hips up, rubbing against him slightly, before grabbing his cock and lining him up with your hole, pushing down. You both moaned as you felt him fill you up. Once he was fully inside you, you sat still on his lap, adjusting to the feeling of him inside you. You slowly started to move your hips against him, placing your hands on his shoulders to support yourself as you pulled your hips up and down.
‘Your pussy feels so good.’ Eddie groaned out as you squeezed around him. He moved his hips up to match your thrusts. He gripped your hips tight, moving forward to suck your breasts again, biting the flesh slightly, leaving marks. You dug your nails into his shoulders and you sped up your pace, bouncing on him.
‘Fuck Eddie, touch my clit, please.’ You groaned out and he obliged, his thumb pressing into you as you threw your head back in a moan. You felt your second orgasm of the night building, the feeling of Eddie’s cock hitting your g-spot and his finger on your clit too much. You moved your hand to grip Eddie’s chin, pulling him away from your tits and pressing his lips to yours. You felt yourself clench around Eddie’s cock and you moaned out loudly against his lips as you come hard. The feeling of you clenching around him send him over the edge and he threw his head back groaning as he came inside the condom.
He flopped back down on the bed, breathing heavily. You pulled your off of him, groaning lightly at the loss. You adjusted yourself slightly, laying down on top of Eddie as he wrapped his arms around you. You lay there comfortably in the silence for a moment before Eddie spoke up.
‘Fuck, we are so going that again.’ He groaned out. ‘I mean if you want to.’ He quickly corrected.
‘Of course, I want to.’ You tell him, looking up at him.
‘So do you also want to go on a date sometime?’ He looked at you sweetly with those big brown eyes.
‘Yeah, definitely, more than anything.’ You say, leaning up to kiss him lightly.
‘Great, I’ll take you out Saturday?’ He asks wrapping his arms around even tighter as you nodded, excited for your date.
‘Aw, fuck.’ You say, realising something.
‘What?’ Eddie said with fear in his eyes. Fear that you were about to tell him that you couldn’t date him.
‘I just told everyone we aren’t dating, now we are.’ You smiled up at him as he relaxed slightly.
‘Well guess we’re just going to have to tell them differently.’ He said, leaning down to kiss your forehead lightly.

Steve loves show days.
He loves the adrenaline, loves standing in the wings watching his guys perform.
He loves the music and the atmosphere and the energy.
He wasn't sure he'd like it when Eddie first asked him if he wanted to try touring with them. He'd never been on the road like this before, never spent so long away from home, never slept in an awkwardly cramped space. He wasn't sure he'd get used to it.
But he did. He learned the ropes of helping with setup and take-down pretty quickly and got to watch his best friends, his favorite people, rise to much deserved fame.
Long gone are the days of taking turns driving the van or navigating from the passenger seat and sleeping on top of each other in the back when they couldn't afford hotel rooms.
And long gone are also the days of hurried, quiet hand jobs between him and Eddie, in gas station bathrooms late at night or fucking in the back of the van while the other guys went to get food - they'd always complain about needing to air out the van whenever they did fuck, so they didn't do it all that often.
He doesn't exactly know when things began to change.
Maybe it was always slotted to be this way from the first time Eddie mentioned him driving out to a show with them.
Maybe it started to change the first time he and Eddie fooled around in the back of the van.
Or when Corroded Coffin got signed and started doing actual tours and Eddie brought him along in their bus, and they were trying to be so quiet as Steve sucked Eddie off while the guys were still awake and talking up front.
When they had two hotel rooms and Steve and Eddie had to share with someone because it wasn't fair to put someone out and make the others share a bed just because they wanted to fuck, maybe.
But Steve definitely noticed the change the first time Jeff collapsed into the bed next to them while they were kissing and murmured that if they were going to fuck to at least try to be quiet about it.
They hadn't been planning on fucking that night - they tried not to step on the other band members' toes when it came to couple-y stuff. They didn't want Steve to wear out his welcome or for anyone to start resenting the fact that he was touring with them.
But with Jeff's kind-of-sort-of permission, Eddie slipped his hand into Steve's pants and brought him off right there with Jeff dozing in the bed next to them. Eddie was so worked up that he came in his pants without Steve ever needing to put a hand on him.
No one mentioned it in the morning when Eddie slipped his cock between Steve's thighs and Steve watched Jeff slowly jerk himself off in the other bed, locking eyes as they came just a breath apart.
They didn't really talk about it when Gareth - who must have talked to Jeff - roomed with them at the next hotel and scoffed like he was offended when it looked like they were just going to bed. He said something to the effect of, "What? Am I not good enough to fool around in front of?"
Steve doesn't remember the exact wording, but he remembers what came next. He remembers Eddie's eyes blown wide as Steve pressed inside him. He remembers the shattered moans. He remembers both him and Eddie not being able to take their eyes off Gareth once he got his pants off, fingers fucking roughly into his cunt as he watched them fuck.
But they still didn't talk about it, other than this understanding that when they had a hotel night, whoever was in the other bed was likely going to get a show if they weren't bone tired and fell asleep right away. (That happened more than Steve would have liked, the all-consuming exhaustion that prevented them from having fun.)
Freak was the one who actually asked for more, after two tours of them all staunchly not bringing it up.
He said that he wanted more, that they all wanted more, but they weren't sure if it was allowed. That the two who weren't in the hotel room with Eddie and Steve usually hooked up on hotel nights, which neither of them knew, and that they could probably all hook up in the same room even if Steve and Eddie didn't want to be touched by anyone else.
Eddie looked at Steve, looked deep into his eyes - probably saw the heat he knew had to be there, at hearing about the other hooking up, at thinking about them all in the same room, at the thought of more - and marched right over to Freak to pull him into a kiss.
Steve followed, getting behind Freak on the bed, kissing his neck and playing with his nipples as he watched Eddie take him apart with his mouth. He kissed him over his shoulder as he came in Eddie's mouth, tasting the sighs and moans that fell from his mouth.
Eddie kissed and licked at Freak's cock until he was hard again and then for the first time, someone other than Eddie fucked into Steve, pulling overwhelmed gasps from him - Freak's dick was short and wide, pressing right up against Steve's prostate on every single thrust in.
Eddie fucked him after Freak came a second time, burying his face in Steve's neck and whispering about how sloppy and wet he would be if Freak hadn't been wearing a condom, how full he'd be after two loads - or maybe even three - were fucked into him.
Steve had already come once, untouched on Freak's cock, so he was shivery and overstimulated, speared open on Eddie's cock, and he came again with Freak's fist wrapped tight around him, shuddering and crying out loud enough that Jeff and Gareth must have heard it in the next room over.
The next morning, the three of them slipped into Jeff and Gareth's hotel room with the extra key and when the door shut behind them, Steve and Eddie hopped into the bed they were sharing and pressed kisses all over both of their faces, Gareth only mildly resisting Steve's love.
Gareth was the first to speak, saying, "So you bit the bullet, huh?" to Freak.
Eddie asked, "How long have you all wanted to say something?" and the answer was a resounding too long, so they immediately began fixing their lack of communication (after nearly breaking the hotel bed, of course).
Now, though, it's been a few years since then. They've got this dance down, know each other and each other's bodies so well that most things run smoothly between the five of them.
Steve and Eddie aren't SteveandEddie anymore because it's all of them. It maybe started out as a 'SteveandEddie and whoever happened to be in the other hotel bed' thing, but it didn't stay that way once they all talked it out. Because there were feelings there on all sides.
Eddie had been harboring a crush on Jeff that Steve knew dated back to when they started this band together. Gareth had apparently, seethingly, been crushing on Steve since Eddie first introduced them. Grant had been into Eddie from nearly the beginning as well. So, once the floodgates were open, there wasn't really any going back from there.
They fooled around that first morning, with the sunlight shining in from the window, and they just never stopped.
It became more than that, more than just fooling around, and now here they are.
Steve's practically vibrating as they all say their thank yous and goodnights to the crowd and make their way backstage. He knows intimately what's coming next.
Eddie crowds him up against the wall and kisses him deep, Steve's hands coming up to his neck, where he's sweaty and hot from performing.
He pulls away with a wet sound and grins at Steve and grabs his hand to pull him towards the dressing room where the others have already started walking towards.
The door closes behind him and he twists the lock and then all bets are off.
Gareth is on him first, pulling him down into a harsh kiss, biting and nipping at his bottom lip. Steve drops Eddie's hand and pulls Gareth closer, steering the kiss somewhere less bitey, slower and lingering, tongues pressing together as Steve tilts his head.
He moves them further into the room so he isn't pressed up against the door - because as much as he likes getting fucked up against a wall or a door, his body is still sore from Freak taking him against their hotel room wall. He picked him right up and fucked inside him, his knees hooked over his elbows, bending him further than he's been bent in a while.
He feels Freak press up behind him. Freak kisses his neck and palms him through his pants as he gets Gareth's jeans open. He slips his hand inside his underwear and plunges his fingers in Gareth's cunt, feeling him sigh into the kiss.
He hears the slick sounds of someone getting their dick sucked and his own dick pulses in sympathy when he hears Eddie moaning because he knows how good Jeff is with his mouth.
He moans as Freak gets his hand inside his pants and starts to jerk him off.
"Off, clothes off," he says, pulling his hand out of Gareth's pants. He sucks his fingers into his mouth to taste the slick clinging to them and when he looks up, Gareth is staring at his mouth hungrily and he instantly knows how he's going to get him off first.
The three of them shed their clothes and when they're naked, Steve leads Gareth over to the couch.
He's about to suggest Freak bend him over the arm of the couch so he can bury his face in Gareth's cunt when Eddie says, "I want Freak to fuck me," and they all roll their eyes because Eddie always wants Freak to fuck him.
Freak's dick is the perfect size for hitting prostates and g-spots and Eddie hogs it because he's extremely into prostate orgasms.
Jeff walks over to them and kisses Gareth and Steve figures he'll be tapped in when Gareth wants his mouth, so he turns to watch as Freak and Eddie kiss near the vanity. He knows Eddie's going to be bent over it in minutes, always impatient to get Freak's dick in him when he knows it's coming.
He watches as Freak undresses Eddie, taking his time despite the way Eddie tries to urge him to go faster. He never gives in, though, just slowly pulling his sweaty shirt off his body, ducking his head to kiss and lick down his chest. Eddie would never admit it, but he loves being teased like that when he's desperate for it - he kind of loves being denied what he wants sometimes.
Steve watches as Eddie throws his head back and moans at the feeling of Freak's teeth on his nipple.
As much as he wants to watch Eddie get fucked - and he still might get to watch that depending on how they configure themselves - he wants to get his mouth on Gareth even more.
Jeff is fingering Gareth when Steve looks back at them and he groans. The pretty picture of Jeff's fingers fucking inside, his thumb rubbing Gareth's cock as they kiss makes Steve's cock throb.
He gets behind Jeff and unbuttons his pants, Eddie having already stripped him of his shirt earlier. He pushes them down his hips and helps him step out of them so that he never has to stop touching Gareth.
He presses himself up against his back and wraps a fist around Jeff's cock, rocking his own cock against his ass.
He kisses Jeff's shoulder, trying to peer over it so he can see him working his fingers into Gareth, but with how close their bodies are pressed together now, he can't really see anything.
Jeff pulls away from the kiss and Steve sees when he pulls his fingers out of his cunt and feeds them, slick and all, into Gareth's waiting mouth.
Gareth sucks the slick off of Jeff's fingers, gripping his wrist and not letting go until he's licked them fully clean. Steve's stomach swoops at the look in Gareth's eyes, at the heat in his gaze.
"You wanna fuck me?" Steve asks Jeff and Jeff nods, turning around to kiss him.
He lets himself get lost in it, Jeff's tongue pressing inside and stroking against his.
He shudders when Jeff reaches down and tugs at the plug inside him.
He lets Jeff bend him over the arm of the couch, Gareth eagerly climbing in front of him, laying on his back, bending one knee and letting the other leg fall off to the side.
Steve doesn't wait - he's been waiting long enough, wanting to get his mouth on Gareth, to have a real taste of him.
He pulls Gareth forward by the hips and buries his face in his cunt. He presses his tongue into him immediately, where he's stretched open from Jeff's fingers and dripping slick.
Behind him, Jeff pulls at the plug, teasing him, fucking it in and out slowly, stretching his hole around the widest part and then pressing it back inside again.
He moans at the feeling, at the taste of Gareth on his tongue. He pulls up to suck Gareth's dick into his mouth, slurping at it noisily, groaning when Jeff finally tugs the plug out of his hole completely.
He feels the come that Eddie fucked into him earlier trickle out of him and he shivers.
The feeling of Jeff notching his cock up against his hole, slick with lube he must have had stored in his pants pocket, makes him double his efforts on Gareth, fucking two fingers into his hole and curling them. He wants Gareth to come on his tongue so that he can slide into his wet cunt with Jeff still fucking him.
Gareth moans at that, his hands tangling in Steve's hair, holding him there - as if Steve would want to be anywhere but here, sucking his cock.
Jeff presses the head of his cock inside Steve's hole, the slide so slick from the lube and the come leaking out. Steve gasps at the stretch when Jeff presses in deep, clenching around him.
He sucks and licks at Gareth's cock and he feels the shuddering climax coming, feels Gareth tensing up. His thighs close around Steve's ears and he comes, cunt clenching rhythmically around Steve's fingers.
Steve sucks him through it, pulling back when Gareth tugs at his hair. He licks around his fingers, lapping up the slick that's flowing out around them. He presses his fingers up against Gareth's g-spot and Gareth's body jerks under him from the oversensitivity.
Steve pulls his fingers out and sucks them clean, moaning around them as Jeff nails his prostate.
He taps Jeff's thigh even though he really doesn't want to him to stop, but they need to rework their position if he wants to fuck Gareth.
Jeff slows to a stop and pulls out. "Where do you want us?" he asks, as if he doesn't already know Steve's going to choose the option where they all can see the reason why Eddie's making such punched out little moans as Freak fucks into him.
He stands up and he puts Gareth on his knees on the couch with his chest nearly hanging over the arm. He gets behind him and waits for Jeff to get behind him before proceeding.
Jeff puts one knee on the couch behind him and keeps one foot on the ground for leverage as he slips back inside. Steve sighs at the stretch, taking a second to turn his head, begging for a kiss.
Jeff obliges, pressing his mouth to Steve's as he grinds inside. Steve gasps and Jeff slips his tongue inside his mouth, sliding his tongue against Steve's as he gently fucks into him.
"Are you gonna fuck me or do I have to go and squeeze between Eddie and the goddamn vanity if I want some dick?" Gareth asks and Steve pulls away from Jeff's mouth.
Steve looks down and finds Gareth glaring at him. His hand comes down on Gareth's ass in a loud smack and Gareth groans.
"Poor puppy. So neglected," Steve says sarcastically, shuffling forward.
He lines up his cock and slides inside his wet cunt, Gareth sighing so pretty as he does. He waits for Jeff to slide forward behind him and then they start moving.
He fucks into Gareth as Jeff pulls back, sliding back into him hard enough that the sound of their hips colliding rivals the smack he delivered to Gareth's ass.
They find a good rhythm, Steve rolling his hips, fucking himself into Gareth and then back onto Jeff's dick, and Steve feels enshrouded in the pleasure, caught between the two of them.
Jeff grabs his hips and starts fucking into him with slow, even strokes, driving him forward into the heat of Gareth's cunt.
He can't help but moan, the dual feeling of fucking into Gareth and having Jeff fucking into him is a lot to handle. He feels warm all over even though the air is cool around them.
He looks over at where Freak and Eddie are caught in a kiss as Freak grinds into Eddie. They're so fucking pretty together, Eddie with his head turned over his shoulder, gasping into Freak's mouth as he no doubt hits his prostate on every thrust into him.
"You love watching them," Jeff says in his ear, snapping his hips forward, making Steve shudder as it sends him balls deep into Gareth's cunt.
"Yes," Steve whispers, leaning forward, draping himself over Gareth, still not taking his eyes off them. He lets Jeff take over, lets himself get lost in the feeling of him fucking into him, grinding his own cock into Gareth.
He gets his hand under Gareth, gets his fingers on his dick, stroking him in time with Jeff's thrusts, speeding up when he hears him groan, when he feels his cunt start fluttering around him.
He strokes Gareth through his orgasm and tries to hold on for a little bit longer, until he comes again.
He keeps his fingers on Gareth's cock and Gareth's moans get louder.
It suddenly feels like a race to the finish because Eddie's crying out from across the room, Freak's groaning loud and long, Jeff is speeding up, rabbiting his hips into Steve, and Steve is just trying to hold on for dear life.
He manages to hold out until Gareth comes again, his hole quivering around his cock.
Steve shudders at the feeling, burying himself deep inside Gareth and stilling, Jeff's thrusts into him unrelenting.
He shakes through his orgasm, buried in the Gareth's heat, coming deep inside him, feeling Jeff's hips start to stutter as he fucks into him.
He's so sensitive once he stops coming, but there's nowhere for him to go, still caught between them.
He feels Gareth's hand find his beneath them, starting up his fingers on his cock, stroking himself using Steve's fingers, grinding down on them as he chases another orgasm.
He's watching Eddie and Freak too, his head tilted up as he grinds on Steve's fingers, watching as Freak gets on his knees behind Eddie, lapping at the come dripping from his hole.
Gareth shudders and at the same time, Jeff groans behind him, grinding in deep and coming inside him.
All three of them are shaking with it - Jeff fucking his come into Steve, Gareth grinding against Steve's fingers, Steve in his oversensitivity, cock twitching hard inside Gareth as his cunt flutters around him again.
Steve's shivering when Jeff finally pulls out and presses the plug inside him again. His cock slips out of Gareth's cunt when he lifts himself up and sinks back into Jeff's lap where he's seated behind them.
"Someone should clean him up," Steve says, his cock giving a valiant twitch as he watches his come start to leak out of Gareth's cunt - he's still draped over the arm of the chair, his last orgasm taking the wind out of him for a moment.
Freak's already licked out most of his come from Eddie's hole and is just laving over his skin now, so he pulls away and taps him on the hip lightly as if to say you're on cleanup duty.
Eddie is still flushed and looks like the cat that got the cream (or is about to anyway) as they both make their way over to the couch.
Eddie stops to kiss both Jeff and Steve before scooping Gareth up and rearranging him on one of the other chairs, Gareth's ass hanging off the edge so Eddie can bury his face between his thighs and lick him clean.
Freak sits down beside where Steve and Jeff are cuddling and pulls Steve's legs into his lap, scooting close.
Steve leans in and presses his mouth to Freak's in a chaste kiss.
Gareth's gasp makes him pull away. Jeff's fingers idly starts stroking over Steve's cock, not to get him off, just because he likes touching him.
The three of them watch as Eddie sucks Gareth through another orgasm, fingering Steve's come back into him. They watch as Eddie ducks his head and licks around his fingers and they watch as Eddie curls his fingers and brings Gareth to a final orgasm - at least the last one here in the dressing room - watching him quake through it, crying out weakly as he slumps back in the chair.
As they clean up, trading kisses and laughs, Steve can't help but think again about how much he just really fucking loves show days.

stuck in your throat || 2.4
2.1 || 2.2 || 2.3 || [here]
the final part of chapter two! it’s a bit shorter than the previous two parts, but it’s just as important. steve and robin meet the band!
i’ll post this chapter on ao3 tomorrow!
Tumblr media
A few short days later found Steve and Robin handing the apartment keys over to Dustin and Will, the former needling them for information about where they were going and who they were working for. Will watched with something that was akin to smug satisfaction, grinning as Dustin’s theories got wilder and wilder. The only thing that Steve and Robin told him was that they were traveling and that Steve was a nanny.
“I just don’t understand why Will gets to know and I can’t!” Dustin had huffed, scowling as Steve reiterated that Will happened to be working when he and his boss had the interview.
Now, they were parked beside a black bus that wasn’t massive, but was definitely bigger than Steve and Robin’s RV, which made sense, as it was just him and Robin in the RV and four people in the bus. Five, if Chrissy stayed in the bus, but Steve wasn’t sure if she did.
“Mr. Steve!” Elodie screamed, running over to the omega. Steve huffed a laugh and caught her with a soft grunt as she leapt into his arms.
“Miss Elodie!” Steve exclaimed, much quieter than the pup had been. “Have you been good for your daddy?” he asked with a fond smile as he spun her around. She immediately scented him, pressing their cheeks together gently. His heart skipped a beat at the action, her soft, sweet pup scent filled his nose as he held her close.
“Yes!” she started proudly, “I ate all my breakfast even though I really wanted to see you! Daddy wouldn’t let us leave until I ate all the eggs.”
“That’s so good,” Steve indulged, cheeks hurting from the strength of his smile.
“Elodie! What did we say about scenting people?” Eddie asked, exasperated as he approached.
“It’s really no problem, Eddie,” Steve assured, biting back a laugh as Elodie echoed him.
“Yeah, Mr. Steve says it’s really no problem, daddy,” she spoke in a tone that relayed how silly she thought her dad was being. Steve squeezed her gently, already so fond of this little pup.
“It’s not polite, Elodie,” the alpha groaned, but smiled at the both of them. “I’m so sorry, Steve, I tried to tell her. She was so excited once someone,” he shot a pointed look to Chrissy, who looked only slightly remorseful, “let slip that we’d be seeing you today.”
Steve jostled Elodie slightly in his arms, bouncing her a bit. “It’s okay! We’re gonna be seeing a lot of each other, aren’t we, Miss Elodie?” he asked, grinning as she giggled and nodded. He looked back to Eddie with a softer smile, “I really don’t mind.”
“He doesn’t,” Robin piped up, startling Steve slightly. He’d forgotten she was there.
“That may be true, but I still don’t want her running up and scenting everyone she’s excited to see,” Eddie explained, reaching for Elodie to be passed over to him. Steve obliged, humming as he did.
“That makes sense,” he nodded, cooing soothingly as Elodie whined but allowed Eddie to take her. Immediately, she startled wiggling and trying to get down, and Eddie rolled his eyes as he let her down. She took off like a rocket towards where the bus was parked, and as they watched her run, Jeff, Gareth and Lewis appeared around the front.
Meeting the rest of the band went smoothly, Steve was especially endeared by Gareth, but that might have been because he looked a bit like he could be related to Dustin. He was a beta who had a lot of rage for someone so short, but mostly it was manic energy. He spent most of the time they were meeting each other playing with Elodie, whose giggles filled the air and settled something deep inside of Steve.
Jeff and Lewis were alphas, and were excited to meet them as well, their combined scents was that of s’mores and a bonfire, entertwined so deeply that for a while, Steve thought it was one scent. He spotted their matching mating bites and it suddenly made sense that their scents combined.
Overall, it seemed as though it wasn’t just Elodie that was excited to have Steve—and Robin—joining the crew. Robin and Chrissy were off doing god knows what (Chrissy was probably teaching Robin the ropes and Robin was probably not retaining any of the information because there was a pretty omega in front of her. Which, like, fair.), and everyone else was kind of off doing their own thing until they left in an hour.
Steve was stuck deciding between joining Eddie and Elodie at the park, and being responsible and continuing to plan lessons for Elodie when their classes started. He figured he could sit next to Eddie and still do work, so he grabbed his notebooks and planners and joined Eddie at the picnic table he had claimed for the time being.
“Steve! Hi,” Eddie greeted with a warm smile. Steve was glad to return the warm greeting, smiling shyly at the alpha.
“Hey, Eddie,” he said quietly as he started spreading the notebooks out.
“This reminds me of the days I used to spend planning D&D campaigns,” the alpha said bemusedly.
Steve hummed curiously, glancing at Eddie. “The pups I used to babysit loved that game, but I never really got into it,” he admitted, feeling his cheeks heat up. He could only hope that it wasn’t obvious how impacted he was by the alpha.
Eddie looked him up and down, causing Steve’s entire body to flush.
“I could’ve guessed, you don’t exactly scream ‘dungeons and dragons nerd’,” he teased with a wolfish grin, causing Steve to bite back a smile.
“Yeah? What do I scream to you, then?” he asked, already feeling his cheeks heat up even further.
Eddie looked him up and down again, Steve could almost feel the look as if the alpha were touching him instead of simply gazing at him. He suppressed a full body shiver at the feeling, hoping his reaction wasn’t noticeable. The alpha hummed, a deep vibrato that sent goosebumps scattering across Steve’s body.
“Middle school librarian,” he spoke at last, letting his gaze linger a bit longer.
“A middle school librarian?” Steve echoed, raising his eyebrows. He understood why a librarian—he was wearing a brown oversized knitted sweater with high waisted acid wash skinny jeans, and he had his glasses on. He could admit he was definitely giving off librarian vibes, but a middle school librarian?
“Yes,” Eddie confirmed, not elaborating further.
Steve opened his mouth, about to demand an explanation, before a small voice intereupted him.
“Mr. Steve?” Elodie asked, running up to him with bright brown eyes. Immediately Steve’s mind shifted into ‘teacher’ mode—which was really more ‘babysitter’ or ‘mom’ mode, if he was honest.
“Yes, Miss Elodie?”
“Will you push me on the swings?” she asked sweetly, smiling brightly up at Steve. Honestly, who was Steve to deny such a sweet request?
“Of course. Lead the way,” he said, standing to follow her. He didn’t bother asking Eddie if it was alright, figuring that he’d be spending a lot of time with his pup, so he’d be spending a lot of time doing things like this. It didn’t stop him from being anxious about Eddie’s gaze tracking them as he pushed Elodie on the swings, and eventually into some game or another that she invented as she went.
Every once in a while, their gazes would meet, and Steve would blush as he looked away.

Another Gareth and Steve Idea
I’ve mentioned before my idea of step-brothers Steve and Gareth.
This is another one of those.
Steve and Gareth who— after their parents finally marry— move to Hawkins Indiana just in time for Steve’s Senior year of high school.
Steve’s not at all happy about it but he tries to keep the brooding to a minimum. His anger issues tend to spark up Gareth’s anger issues which would just make everything worse.
So Steve deals. It’s fine. It’s Gareth’s Freshman year, and he himself isn’t to happy about starting in Hawkins. But it’s whatever, not like he had any friends back in (insert wherever Tf it was they moved from).
Except when they start at Hawkins nobody knows they’re brothers. Gareth kept the Emerson last name in honor of his late mother and Steve’s last name remains Harrington from before his mom and dads divorce when he was 12.
Not to mention that they immediately run in different social circles.
Well— they try to.
Steve isn’t too good about sticking to a circle. Sometimes he’s hanging out with the “nerds” others he’s hanging out with the band kids. He’s often found talking with the cheerleaders in the halls and the jocks and popular crew at lunch. But he doesn’t seem to have any trouble talking to just about everyone.
Gareth goes on to meet Eddie and Jeff. He shares a few classes with Jeff, even though he’s in the year above. He starts running with the freaks of the school and he quickly becomes a target for bullies.
Steve doesn’t know Gareth’s being bullied until later, when he hears some of the jocks he sits with at lunch laughing about him.
Idk where I was going with this.
The jocks end up going home early in the nurses office.
Eddie and Jeff and Brian are all very skeptical about Steve and Gareth finds it hilarious to no ends.
“Steve? Who cried over a dead bird in the road literally last week?”
The guys don’t know they’re brothers. And it’s not like Gareth is keeping it from them or anything, it’s just never quite come up.
They both manage to get over half way through the year before Steve finally meets Hellfire.
The drama club room is being used the night of Hellfire so Gareth offers up his place because his parents won’t be home, only his older brother.
The guys come over and it’s Steve who opens the door.
They’re fully convinced they have the wrong house until Steve’s like “oh yeah that Dorks and Dumbasses game with Gare, right?”
And that’s when everyone finds out they’re brothers.
Steve and Gareth had no idea that they had no idea that they were brothers. They thought everyone knew???
Apparently, nobody in the school knows.
Idk where this continues but uh— eventual Steddie!!

Someone on Twitter proposed Steve and Gareth as cousins whose family had a major falling out, and then someone else brought it up recently and long story short no idea who to credit the idea too bc you can’t search for SHIT on Twitter but it's theirs not mine.
Anyway I wrote a lil thing as a warmup
PART TWO
"Why don't you come sit with Hellfire?" Gareth asked, angrily leaned against the bathroom wall while Steve fixed his hair.
He'd tried not to cling since he entered high school. Tried to keep things on the downlow, least any gossipy mouths started running.
It was so stupidly, needlessly, hard.
His cousin was only two years ahead of him but they'd spent the last year in different schools because of it.
That year, and the lack of Steve's presence in it, had grated. Now that he finally had Steve back, Gareth was loathe to play by the rules.
"Sit with you and Eddie, "the freak" Munson? I'll pass." Steve said, but there was no bite in it.
That, Gareth knew, was because Steve was  using Eddie as an excuse.
"You'd like Eddie if you spent five minutes with him, King Steve." Gareth fired back on automatic. His fingers dug into his arms, as he resisted the urge to pace around the bathroom floor.
Unspoken was all the shit that had taken place.
Steve and Nancy's breakup. The rumor mill in overdrive, first about how Jonathan Byers had taken creep shot photos of them, then about how he'd taken his shot with Nancy herself.
The supposed cheating, the public fights, the crazy background of Jonathan's little brother being missing.
Billy Hargrove beating Steve to a pulp.
Now friendless, Steve had thoroughly fallen from his place at the tippy top of the social hierarchy and between his utter lack of friends and his shit tier parents, Gareth was concerned.
"You do not want me to sit with you, Gary. I'd tell all your little friends that you're apart of the royal family." Steve turned, making an exaggerated face. "How's Munson feel about cozying up to a Prince?"
"I'd technically be an Earl, Steve, not a prince." Gareth grumbled.
He got an eye roll in response. "Somehow I don't think he'll care."
"I do though." Gareth blurted out, absolutely thoughtless.
Steve blinked at him.
"What?" He said.
In for a penny right?
"I care." Gareth said, looking down and scuffing a shoe, making it squeak against the grimy tiles. "About you. You dick."
"Wow Gary you almost sounded loving there."
For once, he ignored the jab. "I'm worried about you, man." He said it quietly, the painful truth pulled out of him almost by force.
He knew better than anyone how few people Steve had. Knew how his dad was likely taking all the crap Steve had been involved in lately.
Richard Harrington hadn't been the wedge that had separated his and Steve's mother, but the man hadn't done them any favors, either.
His intolerance towards the working and lower classes, his demand for perfection, the way he looked down his nose not just on Gareth's parents but on his own wife and son…
Gareth's mom didn't tolerate it.
Likewise, Stella Harrington didn't tolerate her sister ruining her shot at being a rich trophy wife.
Both their sets of parents were dramatic and neither of them weren't anywhere near the concept of "good" but at least Gareth's weren't neglectful and abusive.
Shitty absolutely, but he never worried about getting thrown out, or that his mom wouldn't acknowledge his birthday because he'd "complimented her outfit the wrong way."
(”It's fine dude she just thought I called her ugly. It was a miscommunication. Dad said it's a good lesson about how women work."
"Casual reminder that your dad's an asshole and also how is telling your mom that she looked lovely in the sunlight telling her she's ugly?”
“It implied she wasn't lovely the rest of the time or some shit, I dunno man.”)
The BMW was a shitty prize when compared what Steve had dealt with to receive it.
"I'm okay." Steve said seriously. "It's almost the end of the year anyways. I can tough out having some extra alone time."
"If you're sure…"
"Yeah man, I'm sure. Thanks though."
Then Steve pulled him into a hug and fuck their parents, who demanded they continued some stupid grudge. Gareth clung to him just as hard as he had at ten. Unsure if he'd ever be allowed to see Steve again.

Can Anybody See Me? Part 6
Yes, my darlings, you read that right. I promised I would get back on this one once I was done with In the Midnight Hour and admittedly I did get side tracked for a week doing the Valentine’s fics, once that was out of my head I have written almost 7000 new words for this story. I went from half way through this one to a few hundred words into part 10. So yeah. Expect to see this one updated fairly regularly. I haven’t given up on Star Child I’m just trying to decide which direction the next part should take.
Also on the tagging, I HAVE REACHED MY HARD AND FAST LIMIT OF 50. I love the response this story has gotten. I do. I love you all. I love every reply, like, and reblog. It brings me so much joy, you don’t even know. But tagging is hard for my ADHD brain. I have gone up from 20 to 30 and finally 50 as my system improved but I think if I do any more than that I’ll go insane. So any future tagging requests will be ignored. Sorry.
The best way to keep update on these stories is follow me and set me on notifications. I rarely do a lot of reblogging these days (too busy churning out stories like whoa), so more often then not a post will be a story. I try to post at least once a day (some times twice if I’m trying to rush through the posting a bit like I did to make sure the Valentine fic got out in time without making people wait on Vamp!Eddie), just never at set time.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5

They all met up by the fountain in the middle of the mall. Eddie was bouncing on the balls of his feet nervously.
“You sure he’s going to come?” Jeff asked.
Eddie tried to peer around the crowd. “That’s what he said.”
And then they spotted him. He was in a nice red sweater with a white polo underneath and fitted jeans. Eddie ran his tongue over his teeth in appreciation.
But then he noticed the gaggle of children following behind him. And what a gaggle it was. It consisted of Red, his new best friend, another girl with a thousand yard stare. The tall black kid must be the Sinclair boy. The remaining three were also very interesting. There was the short curly haired kid with no front teeth. The last two were both dark haired, but the one on the right was darker. Hair and attitude, judging from the rounded shoulders and down cast expression of the other boy.
Steve sighed. “I’m sorry I’m late. Dustin called asking me to take him to the arcade, only when I told him that I was going to the mall, suddenly they all wanted to come.”
“And then I got roped into this because they wouldn’t all fit in Steve’s car,” a voice called from the back.
The person jostled his way to stand next to Steve. Jonathan clasped Steve on the shoulder. “I gave Will money to call me when you’re done so I can pick up him and El. Make sure he doesn’t spend it on the gumball machine.”
Steve nodded. “Thanks, man. I’ll see you later.”
Jonathan nodded and waved goodbye to everyone, but especially the timid one. Which Eddie figured must have been Will.
“Your children, I presume?” Eddie asked, eyeing the thirteen year-olds warily.
“Yup,” Steve said with a put on expression. He pointed to each of them in turn. “That’s Dustin, Mike, Will, Lucas, Max and El.”
Eddie did the same to his friends. “I’m Eddie, these are Jeff, Gareth, and Brian. Or collectively, the band Corroded Coffin.”
“That’s bitchin’,” El said with a smile.
Steve ducked his head as he tried not to laugh.
“Hell yeah, it is,” Jeff said, taking an immediate liking to her.
“All right,” Steve said, turning to the kids. “You are to stay in pairs at the very least. And you know who your partners are. Will and Mike, Max and El, and Dustin and Lucas. Regardless of what you are doing, you will meet up here at 2pm. No later. I have plans with these guys at three and I’m not going to be late because of you guys a second time.”
There were a lot of eye rolls but everyone agreed to meet at the fountain at two.
Once they had left, Steve turned back to see that all four of them were struggling not to laugh.
“No, no,” he said, shaking his head. “Go ahead and laugh. Because fuck knows it’s hilarious.”
So they promptly burst out laughing.
“Oh my god,” Gareth wheezed. “It was like watching ducklings.”
“Yes!” Eddie agreed. “My dude, I hope you are charging their parents for this.”
Steve shrugged. “It’s not like I need the money.”
They all just shook their heads.
Eddie clapped his hands together and rubbed. “Right, Stevie, this is how it is going to go. You’ll have one hour to get the most outrageous gift. Ten dollar maximum.”
“Each person or total?”
“However you want to swing it,” Jeff said. “But forty bucks is a lot.”
Steve nodded. “I guess my one concern is that I don’t know you guys very well and I don’t want to offend anyone.”
“So take Eddie with you,” Gareth said. “And then for the last ten minutes split off to buy something for each other.”
Eddie and Steve looked at each other.
“Yeah,” Eddie said, “that could work. What do you say, Stevie?”
Steve shrugged. “Yeah, sure.”
Every one but Steve set a timer on their watches. Steve’s wasn’t a digital one, so he couldn’t.
“On your marks, get set,” Brian said. “And go!”
Eddie grabbed Steve’s hand and suddenly he was being dragged along.
Steve giggled. “Where to first?”
“We are going to Suncoast,” Eddie said with a grin. “It’s the best place for all your metalhead needs.
“Lead on, MacDuff!” Steve said with a grin.
Eddie finally let go of Steve’s hand as they neared the store.
“I found out in drama that a lot of the sayings and words we use today are because Shakespeare couldn’t find the right word and made them up,” Steve said nervously.
“Wait, really?” Eddie asked, coming to a complete stop. “Like what?”
“Well, ‘Lead on, MacDuff’,” Steve said, “just for starters. It’s from Macbeth. Green eyed-monster. Just loads that I can’t think of off the top of my head.”
Eddie stood there for a moment blinking. “If they had taught that in English, I think would pay more attention.”
Steve laughed. “I know, right?”
They entered the store and everything had a dark red neon glow to it and it was clearly separated between the movie part of the store and the music part of the store. It was almost jarring. The movie part was dark like the inside of a movie theater. The music part was well lit and almost sterile white in its design.
They wandered around the music section. And they stopped by the minuscule instrument section. It had mostly accessories but also a couple of guitars. Mostly acoustic but one or two electric as well.
“This is pitiful,” Steve said staring at the selection.
“Beggars can’t be choosers, dude,” Eddie said. “There is an actual record shop with a full on instrument section. But that is not the point of this.”
Steve stopped by the drumsticks. “Gareth is the drummer right?”
Eddie nodded.
“I’ve been to a couple of concerts and I saw that the drummer had a bucket of sticks...”
“Are you asking if you should get Gareth more drumsticks?” Eddie asked. Steve nodded. “Go for it.”
“What’s his favorite color?” Steve asked.
Eddie frowned, but Steve pointed to the drumsticks on display and the had all sorts of different colors and patterns.
“The black ones with the flames on them, for sure.”
Steve grinned and picked them up. They got a couple more things here, but it was time to move on.
They hit up the stationary store, the weird little shop that sold incense and little Egyptian figurines, and Hammond’s Toys.
As they were passing Shapiro’s on their way to Hammond’s Toys, Steve found his gift for Eddie. It took every bit of will power not to just rush back and grab it, afraid it would be gone by the time he got back.
Eddie came up to him. “All right, Stevie. This is where we have to part ways. We only have ten minutes left and we need to get each other something, too.”
Steve smiled and nodded. He doubled back to Shapiro’s and quickly bought it. He raced to the fountain to be there first. He sat down on the edge of the fountain, his packages tucked under his legs so people wouldn’t steal them.
It wasn’t long before the others started showing up. Brian showed up first.
“How the hell did you beat me, man?” he asked as he sat down next to Steve. “I’m always the first to arrive.”
Steve blushed. “I got lucky.” He was practically vibrating with anticipation.
Brian eyed him suspiciously. “And you got a present for everyone?”
Steve pressed his lips together and nodded.
Gareth was the next to show up. “Now that’s just embarrassing. Being beaten by Brian is one thing, he’s a shopping guru. But Steve Harrington, too? However will I get over the shame?”
Jeff laughed from behind him, having just shown up himself. “You’ll live.”
Eddie was the last to arrive showing up exactly at the hour.
“Ooh,” Jeff teased. “By the skin of your teeth. Is Steve-o here really that hard to buy for?”
Eddie grabbed his knees, panting for breath. “No,” he huffed. “Just on the other side of the fucking mall.”
“So,” Gareth said turning to Steve. “Now for the next phase of our little get together. We meet up at my house at three and exchange gifts and play a one-shot.”
Steve wrinkled his nose. “Is that like a D&D thing?”
“Yup!” Brian said gleefully rubbing his hands together. “It a story meant for a single day instead of multiple days like a campaign.”
“Yeah,” Jeff said. “We roll up quick character that are meant to die and just go to town no real rules. Just fun.”
Steve nodded. “Sure I could do that.” He looked at his watch. “I’ve got twenty minutes before the kids show up.”
The other three backed away slowly.
“Yeah,” Jeff said, “we aren’t going to wait for that mob.”
“Oh, hell no,” Brian agreed. “I’m sure they’re great kids and all but I have three younger siblings, if I wanted chaos, I’d hang out with them.”
“Middle schoolers, man,” Gareth said, “are the plague of the earth. See you at three.”
Steve laughed. “Agreed on all accounts. I see you at Gareth’s. I’ll get the address from Eddie.”
The three boys walked off, shoving and pushing each other, laughing as they made their way to the exit.
“So what about you?” Steve asked. “You going to run before the hoard gets here?”
Eddie laughed. “I should. Leave you to the wolves.” He grinned. “But nah. I want to properly meet the kids that Steve the pied piper of Hawkins has taken under his wing.”
Steve blushed. “I wouldn’t call myself that. They barely listen to me.”
Eddie’s face softened. “I’m sure that’s not true. I bet the little sponges are just soaking up everything you tell them.”
Steve huffed out a laugh. “That would explain the language problem.”
Eddie tilted his head to side. “What language problem?”
“They swear like sailors.”
Eddie blinked a couple of time before he burst out laughing. “Having trouble not swearing around kids, Stevie?”
“You would be swearing too if you had to deal with them all the time,” he said with a shake of his head.
“So why do you do it?” Eddie asked.
Steve huffed out a sigh and kicked the side of the fountain with the heel of his foot. “Most of them don’t have great home lives. Except the Sinclairs, of course. Especially when it comes to caring adult men. I know what that’s like, so I try to be that for them.”
“Huh.”
Eddie didn’t have much time to comment on that because the first of the terrors had arrived.
The two dark-haired boys that seemed joined at the hip.
“Hey, Mike,” Steve greeted, “hey, Will. Did you already call Jonathan to come get you?”
Will nodded.
“Good,” Steve said. “Eddie here DMs for his friends.”
Both heads turned to him in shock.
“There is no way,” Mike said. “Steve would never be friends with someone who likes D&D.”
“Hey!” Steve protested. “I’m friends with you assholes!”
Mike rolled his eyes. “Fine. Steve wouldn’t be friends with people his own age that play D&D.”
“Mike...” Will protested, speaking up for the first time. “What’s your favorite class?”
“Bard. It’s kinda self-insert type of thing,” Eddie said. “I play guitar, so I get the class. Um...second favorite would druid. I have a twelfth level druid named Kilmar Goatfiend in a campaign my club is doing right now.”
“You have a D&D club?” Dustin asked coming up from behind Will and Mike. “No way!”
“Yep!” Eddie said with pop of his lips. “The Hellfire club. Lenny Fitzpatrick is president this year. Next year, it’ll probably be Janice Montgomery.”
“You have a girl in your club?” Lucas asked, think of his sister Erika.
“Girls don’t play D&D,” Mike growled.
Steve hit him on the back of the head. “Oi! Your sister played. She’s the one that taught you. Show her some respect.”
Eddie’s eyes went wide. “Nancy Wheeler plays D&D.”
“Did,” Will clarified. “She’s the one that gave me my wizard robes to DM in.”
“You dress up?” Eddie asked. “That’s so cool.”
Will blushed.
Just then girls arrived both of them eating ice cream cones.
Dustin spotted them and gasped. “You got ice cream cones?” He turned to Steve. “Why didn’t we get ice cream cones?”
Steve stood up and put his hands on his hips. “Because they saved their money and bought themselves ice cream cones?”
Max stuck out her tongue at him and El giggled.
“You better finish those up before you get into my car,” Steve said wagging his finger at them.
“Hey, I could take Max home,” Eddie said with a shrug. “I’m heading that way anyway.”
Steve looked at Max. “It’s up to you. You can go home with him or I could drop you off at Hopper’s and you and El can continue to hang out.”
Max thought about it for a minute. “I’ll think I’ll go home with Eddie and hang out with El tomorrow.” She turned to El. “Is that okay?”
El nodded. “I wanted to spend time with Will and Mike today.”
Mike blushed.
“What about you two?” Steve asked. “Where am I dropping you two off?”
Dustin and Lucas just shared a glance and shrugged.
“Well then you two can sort it out in the car,” Steve said and then turned to Eddie. “So what’s Gareth’s address?”
Eddie pulled out a pocket notebook and pen and scribbled out the address. “There you go, see you later, man.”
Steve took the piece of paper with a smile. “Do you always carry a notebook and pen with you wherever you go?”
Eddie grinned. “Sure, sometimes the muse will strike while I’m out and about so I need something to jot down lyrics or chord progressions as needed.”
“That’s sooo cool,” Mike said, a little star struck.
Will and Lucas looked over at each other and rolled their eyes. Eddie fought back a grin.
They split off, with Will, Mike and El, staying at the fountain to wait for Jonathan.

The Fire of All Hells
“I can’t fucking do this anymore, holy shit. She’s killing me.”
“Killing you? I don’t think it’s that serious, man.” Gareth laughs.
“No.” Eddie says harshly. “If you heard what she was saying yesterday… holy fuck, you’d understand. She is killing me.” He groans.
“Well, dude, you know what you could do?” Jeff replies sarcastically.
Eddie, Jeff, and Gareth were all setting up in the drama room and you figured you’d show up a little early with the cookies you made after Eddie left you yesterday.
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
While you didn’t play DnD, you were an odd sort of an ‘unofficial’ member. You and Eddie have been friends forever so it was kind of pushed into your lap when he wanted to start his little club. And since it was a group of dimwit boys, you unwarrantedly became the founding mother of the club… alongside the founding father, Eddie— who, have it be noted, has zero organizational capabilities, not an ounce of time management skills, and absolutely no faith entrusted in him by any school faculty members. And for all of those reasons, that is why you were roped into this weird little club.
Eddie practically begged for you to be the one to ask the teachers to start the group. His far from perfect rep with them would have made the teachers obviously turn him down… but you on the other hand… you're liked enough, get good enough grades, and although have been tied to Eddie in numerous ways (including physically that one time when Eddie bought industrial level handcuffs, brought them to school to show off, cuffed you and him together to demonstrate, realized he lost the keys, and then you both spend the day cuffed together until Wayne got home to saw you free), you keep out of trouble for the most part.
After a week of Eddie groveling and a few deals set between you too, you gave in. At the time, you were in your freshman year, and Eddie was promised Wayne’s old van once he got his license, so he set the deal that he would drive you to school and home everyday (which now that you're both in your senior year, it’s a promise that he has mostly held up overtime). He also promised his eternal friendship, which was already a given so that barely sweetened the deal. It’s kind of foggy at this point, being so long ago, but you’re sure he also bought you some other shit, probably stole you some beer too, because god knows you two were fiends for any alcohol back then.
Since you had to ask to start up the club, it was your name under the club registry so it was always the drama teacher up your ass about making sure everything was cleaned properly, put away, no food left behind because of the mice… blah blah blah. So yeah… you’re practically the sole standing reason hellfire exists at Hawkins High but you don’t like to think about that… if you think too hard about it, you can’t help but cringe internally. You don’t mind their little group but you’d rather not be known as their leader— that’s all Eddie.
You knew Eddie because his dad and your dad were friends back in high school. The only difference between the two men was when your mom got pregnant with you, your dad cleaned up his life. Eddie’s dad on the other hand was the first to get a girl pregnant out of the two of them— which coincidentally happened in the same year; however, Eddie’s dad couldn’t quite give up his lifestyle. He tried for a bit, he really did, especially after Eddie’s mom skipped town, but it was just hard for him. It didn’t help when he got an injury doing some kind of labor job either. The doctors prescribed him some heavy pain medicine and that’s kind of when everything went to shit.
As a kid you never noticed. At 8 years old, you were oblivious to the havoc being dragged through the lives of everyone around you. You thought it was all fun and games. Eddie had come and stayed with your family for a few weeks and you thought it was the best. It was like a giant sleepover, probably the closest thing you’ve ever had to a sibling.
Then Wayne came into the picture. He was living down south, working as a truck driver. Once his brother got his sentence, he moved up, got the trailer, got a job at the plant, and started taking care of Eddie. He was a saint in the body of a mean-looking, tough talking trucker. Not really mean though, he’s a big ole softy, he just doesn’t let most people know that.
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
You take a step further into the drama room, not purposefully trying to eavesdrop, you just didn’t mean to interrupt their conversation so abruptly.
“I can’t do that.” Eddie says flatly.
“You can dude. There’s no way she doesn’t know already. Everyone already thinks you’re together since you touch her nonstop. Seriously. You’re like, attached to her at all times.” Gareth says.
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
Eddie’s always been touchy. Always. Gareth’s not wrong, he always has some part of himself connected to you, whether it’s a knee under the table or an arm around your shoulder, that’s just how he’s always been. He’s never shied away from physical touch and that’s normal for you two after all these years. He was your first hug with a boy, first hand hold with a boy, first kiss, second kiss. It’s always been innocent enough though, he’s your best friend after all, it just so happens to be that he’s a boy. Not a boy boy. Just a boy.
At 7 years old that’s when you two had first kissed. Then again at 10.
The first time, he was making you play some stupid game where he was a knight and you were a princess and according to him, obviously the knight had to kiss the princess. The second time he wanted to ‘practice’ playing spin the bottle. It was only the two of you so you had thought it was a dumb idea but it was Summer and you had been banished from the trailer after spending the weekend blasting the TV and probably stopping Wayne from getting any rest.
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
Summer of 1978
Eddie had spun the bottle 27 times before it finally landed on you. 27 times. You still remember counting each failed spin, laughter getting rowdier and rowdier at your best friend's terrible luck. The 27th time, he lit up like a damn Christmas tree when the neck of the bottle finally slowed, landing point blank in your direction. You couldn’t help the laughing fit that overcame you and you had thrown yourself backwards, clenching your aching stomach, head softly hitting the dirt floor of the forest clearing you two frequented. That’s when Eddie snuck up and stole the kiss.
You would have let him kiss you, cause that was all part of the game after all. You both had agreed on the rules before starting, but that didn’t stop your surprise when his scrawny little 11 year old body fell over yours.
You still remember distinctly the way he had grabbed your hands to pull them away from where you were holding your stomach. He pinned them both beside your head, similar to when you’d wrestle, and he looked at you with the biggest signature Eddie Munson smirk known to man. At this point, you were stronger than him still and could have easily tossed him off but it shocked you having him so close and so quickly. It took you by surprise so much so that it knocked all the giggles from you. You just laid there, in Eddie’s hold. His smirk fell and after a moment, he dipped his face to yours, and he kissed you for the second time.
“Gross Eddie!” You shrieked when you felt his slimy tongue harshly poking past your lower lip and into your mouth. He started to get up off you but you were embarrassed, so you pushed him making him land harshly on his butt.
“It’s called a French kiss.” Eddie stated matter of factly, face scrunched, hands rubbing over his lower back that stung from the impact of his landing.
“It’s disgusting and you smell like cheezies.” You say pushing yourself up from the ground and wiping his spit off your mouth.
“It’s practice.” He huffed. “And you taste like cheezies. It’s not just me.”
“I do not!” You shrieked before hauling yourself up into a standing position ready to stomp away from him. You were already embarrassed by Eddie shocking you into silence, then him telling you that you tasted like cheezies… even at 10 years old you knew that’s not what a boy would want to taste during a kiss.
“We ate cheezies, Strat.” Eddie said, rolling his eyes at you.
‘Strat’ was a nickname that your dad started. He was the guitar guy, and spent a lot of time teaching you and Eddie about music since you were toddlers. Once you got old enough to actually hold a guitar, he had two that he’d let you both mess around with; a Fender Stratocaster and a Fender Jaguar. The strat was a pretty baby blue colour that you adored, so naturally, you always called dibs on it, and Eddie got the red Jag. Your dad would call you both ‘Strat’ and ‘Jag’ and unfortunately the nickname stuck for you and you only— probably because you would whine and cry about the strat if Eddie tried to steal it from you.
At the roll of Eddie's eyes, that really set you off. You turned, stomping your feet back to the trailer park.
“Hey, I like cheezies, Strat! Don’t go!” Eddie called after you. “We’re not done playing, you still have to spin!”
“I’m telling Wayne!” You screamed, running faster to the trailer once you heard Eddie’s clumsy steps behind you.
“No! Please, don’t!” He yelled back pleadingly, making you smile to yourself revengefully. You heard his steps quicken behind you so you sprinted, making it to the door of the trailer in record speed.
You threw open the door, startling Wayne who was sat on the couch, and just as you were about to speak you felt Eddie’s hand clamp around your mouth from behind.
“Edward Munson. You take your hands off that girl.” Wayne warned sternly.
“B-but-”, Eddie began before you interrupted him by elbowing him in the stomach.
“Yeah. Hands off.” You said turning to face Eddie as he held onto his stomach. You smirked at him and he sent you pleading eyes not to tell. You weren’t going to. That never was your plan, you just wanted to see him squirm as payback for him embarrassing you.
“Ohhhhh Wayne.” You sang. Eddie’s eyes widening, his features turning increasingly pleading for you not to tell on him.
“What in god's name happened to you, you’re covered in dirt, missy.” Wayne said ignoring you. He stood from the couch, making his way over to you before his hands were patting at your back trying to get the dirt off. Your face fell and you couldn’t think of a response.
“She-she… we were playing a game and-” Eddie’s pleading look stopped and his gaze dropped to the floor. You could tell he was about to rat himself out. This boy couldn’t keep one secret from Wayne…
“I fell and Eddie helped me up.” You interject. Eddie’s gaze locked into yours, eyes wide before relaxing, sending you a small smile when he realized what you were doing.
“Her mom’s gonna kill us both, boy. You better go find her some clothes so I can throw these ones in the wash.” Wayne huffed.
Eddie ran into the trailer to his room.
“Clean clothes too, boy! Don’t give her dirty stuff!” Wayne yelled when Eddie was taking too long.
“I know Wayne.” Eddie yelled back, voice full of attitude.
After a few moments, he emerged, with his favourite Black Sabbath shirt that your dad bought for him for his birthday last year and a pair of plaid pajama bottoms.
“Go change, missy.” Wayne gruffed, patting you on the back.
Back in Eddie’s room you both sat on his floor reading his comics.
“You look pretty in that shirt.” Eddie said, interrupting the silence.
“Shut up Edward. I still don’t forgive you for trying to french kiss me.” You say, cheeks turning hot in anger, prompting you to pick up the closest discarded piece of clothing from his messy floor to throw at him.
“I'm sorry! It was just for practice.” Eddie groaned dramatically.
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
Before you both reached puberty it was all hugs, holding hands, sharing seats, sharing beds, just being innocently close to each other. After puberty his touchness did simmer a bit. Albeit not much though. Eddie still barely knows what personal space is, but he’s not grabbing at your hand every second like he did when you were kids.
“I don’t always touch her! Besides, it’s always been like that since we were kids, it’s normal.” Eddie says, focusing his attention on setting up.
“There’s nothing normal about the way you act around her.” Gareth says with a laugh.
“Yeah. You love her.” Jeff teases.
“And that’s the fucking problem. Thanks for really rubbing it in guys.” Eddie says exasperatedly, throwing his bag of dice onto the table carelessly.
“Just ask her out.” Jeff says, patting Eddie on the back as he slouches down onto the table.
“Oh great idea! Strat, I fucking love you. Please, go out on a date with me and potentionally fuck up our lifelong friendship. Great idea guys. Thank you so much.” Eddie says sarcastically.
During Eddie’s spiel he had picked up his bag of dice again. Finishing his scornful remark, he had thrown it down on the table, this time the dice falling out and skidding across the floor, most of them landing at your feet.
All three boys turn at once, moving to pick up the dice before they spotted you.
“Shit.” Gareth says, filling the silence of the room.
You look at Eddie and he’s gone pale, his whole face null of expression.
“I- Hey.” You stutter, clearing your throat. “I was just gonna drop these off.” You continue, stepping forward to place the container of cookies on the table.
“Hey Strat.” Jeff says nervously, being the first to snap out of his surprise. “You gonna stay today?” He asks.
“No, no… gotta help my mom with.. something.” You lie. You were gonna stay. You told the little twerps you’d stay today, but you really have to go now.
“I swore you told Dustin at lunch that you’d stay?” Gareth says, eyes narrowing in on you.
“No, I-”
“Hey guys! What’s up?” Grant greets excitedly as he enters the drama room.
“Hey Grant.” You smile before taking steps towards the door.
“Strat? You’re going?” He questions, brows furrowing at you. “Dustin said you were staying and that you had something for us?”
“No, I have to go. Bye guys.” You say, turning quickly before exiting the room.
“What’s up with her?” You hear Grant say to the guys from the hall.
“Strat! Where you going?” Lucas calls from the other end of the hall. You turn briefly, still walking backwards towards the school exit.
“Gotta go home! I left cookies for you guys in there.” You say, putting on your best cheery voice before turning and walking as fast as you can out of the school.
Shit. Eddie was right. He can’t just ask you out. That would be ruining a lifelong friendship. He can’t do that. He can’t like you. You guys are best friends. He can’t do that to you.
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
At home you flop yourself on your bed. What the fuck are you gonna do?
Nothing.
You’re going to do nothing.
You’re going to pretend you didn’t hear that. Eddie doesn’t like you. He doesn’t love you. He’s not ruining your friendship— you won’t let him.
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
You spend the weekend convincing yourself you made up the entire conversation you overheard. Eddie called 6 times since Friday evening, but you needed the time to erase whatever you overheard in the drama room from your memory.
You spend Sunday evening contemplating if you should even take the ride from Eddie in the morning. He barely shows up Monday mornings so, who knows, maybe you’ll get lucky and won’t have to see him anyways.
You were wrong though. You decided to start your walk, and halfway there, you heard the familiar rumbling of his van approaching before slowing at your side.
The van halts and you look over to see a fairly normal looking Eddie smiling at you. You try to muster a smile but you know it must look weird because he retracts into himself before motioning for you to get in.
You stop, contemplating if it’s a good idea before you hear a car coming up the road that makes the decision for you. You quickly hop into the van, buckling yourself in as Eddie starts driving before the car behind him has time to honk.
“Hey.” Eddie says.
“Hey.” You reply.
For a moment all that’s heard is the rumbling of the van engine.
“Haven’t heard from you in a while.” He says cautiously.
“Yeah. Sorry. Was busy.” You lie. You spent the whole weekend in bed doing fuck all but thinking about the situation at large.
“Busy?” Eddie asks. He knew you weren’t busy. You told him a few days that you had no plans. You were supposed to go over to his, but obviously that didn’t happen.
“Yeah. Busy. My mom needed help with something.” You say, sticking with the same lie from Friday.
“Something?” He questions. Without looking at him, you can tell he's smiling.
“You’re just full of questions, aren’t you?” You say flatly, copying his same avoidant statement from Thursday night when he claimed to be helping Wayne with ‘something’. He huffs a breath out of his nose in what sounds like amusement, but you don’t think this is funny.
You don’t say more and neither does he for the rest of the ride. When you pull into the lot, you both get out before walking into the school. It’s mostly normal, except for the fact that it’s dead silent between the two of you. You don’t think it’s ever been this quiet between you.
When you see Robin, you use her as your escape.
“Robin!” You call. She turns to you and you wave at her. You start walking towards her and out of your periphery, you can see Eddie still trailing beside you.
“Bye Eddie.” You say, stopping to turn toward him. You can’t look at him though, not in the eyes. You haven’t yet, apart from through the window of the van.
“Bye Strat.” He says quietly.
You quickly push your way through the halls, leaving Eddie behind until you get to Robin.
“What was that?” She asks as soon as you’re close enough to hear her.
“What was what?” You question.
“What did you say to him, he looked like he was gonna cry?” Robin says furrowing her eyebrows at you.
“I just said bye?” You say.
“Just bye?” She says skeptically. You nod your head at her.
She grabs a book out of her locker, eyes still on you, clearly not believing you.
“Steve said that those little twerps said something happened.” She says flatly.
“Like what?” You ask hoping she has some drama that’ll take your mind off of all this.
“Something with you and Eddie.”
“Why’d they say that?” You roll your eyes.
“Cause something did happen?” She says, waiting for you to fill her in but you don’t.
She stares at you, waiting for you to spill but truly, there’s nothing to spill. You let your eyes roam the hall, feeling awkward under her scrutinizing look before the slamming of her locker startles you.
“You heard them talking didn’t you?” She asks.
“Heard who?” You ask and you physically feel Robin's annoyance rising.
“Strat. Stop playing dumb.” She scolds.
“Robin. I’m not playing dumb.” You reply, sticking to your guns. It didn’t happen. You didn’t hear anything. Nothing happened.
“Strat-” Robin starts, getting interrupted by the first bell.
“Gotta go Robs! Good talk.” You say before bolting to home room.
You usually sit next to Eddie, but it’s fine. Nothing happened, right? Don’t need to be weird around him, right?
You cross the class to your seat at the back of the room, the spot next to you still empty. Little by little the class fills and by the time the second bell goes, you’re still left sitting alone at the back of the class.
Halfway through the class, you’re still sitting alone.
You try to focus on taking notes— especially now since you know you’re gonna have to teach this shit to Eddie who’s currently skipping, but you’re having a hard time focusing.
When the teacher steps out of the class to get her forgotten worksheets from her office you lean forward in your chair, poking Jeff in the back.
“Where is he?” You ask, when he turns.
“Seriously?” He laughs. You frown, not appreciating being laughed at right in your face.
“Yeah. Seriously.” You reply sharply.
“I think you know the answer to that.” Jeff says before turning forward again.
Okay. Ouch. You always thought of Jeff as being the nicest out of the three older hellfire guys, but that was cold.
You didn’t see Eddie for the rest of the day. Matter of fact, you didn’t see him until the next morning when he did the same thing. You had started walking and he drove up behind you, slowing, and you got in. The ride was in complete silence. Not a word or a glance.
When you got to school, you parted ways immediately, without as much as a goodbye. Eddie didn’t show up to homeroom and Jeff didn’t look your way, not that you would have started a conversation with him after yesterday.
You had seen Gareth and Grant walking in the hall and you waved. You know they both saw you but they kept walking, not reciprocating your wave, and it really fucking stung.
That evening you walked home again. Alone.
The next morning, you walked the whole way to school. Alone. No Eddie in homeroom.
You were miserable. And to make matters worse, that morning, the drama teacher called you to his office over the intercom and proceeded to tear you a new one about how things were left in the drama room last Friday. You lied and said you weren’t feeling good and left things a bit of a mess, and that you were very sorry. By the end of the conversation, he was less so scolding you and more so giving you a pitiful look. Maybe you appeared as shitty as you felt, who knows, but you didn’t get detention so at least you got that win. He let you off with a warning instead but made sure to add that if it happens again this Friday, that’s it for your club.
Before lunch you set out to find the only hellfire members that you were certain would not give you the cold shoulder.
“Dustin! Mike!” You called, stopping them before they could enter the cafeteria. You really didn’t want to go in there, knowing Eddie would be there for sure.
You jogged to catch up with them, both of them stopped right at the door.
“Hey, do you mind doing me a favor?” You ask, trying to not seem like the shell of a person that you feel like.
“Yeah? What’s up?” Mike replies.
“Mr. Joels called me to his office and said if you guys leave the drama room like that again he’s gonna cancel hellfire permanently. Can you tell Eddie?”
“Can’t you tell him?” Mike says before Dustin hits him on the arm.
Dustin turns slightly, peering into the caf and your eyes follow, narrowing in on the person you’re always first to look for in a room. You feel whatever shards of a heart you have left dissolve when you see how miserable he looks too.
“S-so can you tell him?” You stutter, trying to pull your attention away from Eddie.
“Strat? Why didn’t you stay on Friday?” Dustin asks quietly.
“B-because.” You stutter again, feeling far too terrible to put up with any more interrogating and far too tired to keep up your lies.
“You heard him didn’t you?” He asks. Yeah. You heard him. You can’t lie to yourself anymore. You can’t pretend you didn’t. It’s not helping anyone. It’s not saving any friendship, because look at this. This isn’t preservation.
All you can do is nod your head, eyes glued to your shoes.
“He likes you, Strat.” Dustin says. You shake your head, disagreeing.
“He does.” Mike adds. You shake your head harder.
“No. He said he loves me.” You say, voice coming out croaky, lowering lip jetting out like you're about to cry.
You bring the palms of your hands to your eyes, pushing until all you can see is black. You’re not about to cry in front of these freshies. You’re not.
You hear the scuffing of their shoes on the floor before you feel a hand on your arm.
“Hey. It’s okay. Strat. Seriously, we can tell him. Don’t cry.” Dustin coos nervously, obviously not having the intent of making you teary eyed.
“I’m not crying.” You huff, pulling your hands from your damp eyes.
“No-yeah! You’re not crying. Don’t worry, we'll tell the guys.” Dustin says genuinely, his demeanor remaining soft yet incredibly nervous. Mike continues looking back into the caf, obviously looking for help from anybody. “So you’re not gonna sit with us?” He asks tentatively.
You shake your head, not trusting yourself to speak.
“Well, if you want to come back eventually, uh- we miss you.” He says. You laugh and both boys look taken aback.
“Gareth and Grant pretended I didn’t exist when I saw them in the hall. Jeff laughed in my face when I asked about Eddie and then proceeded to give me the cold shoulder. They don’t miss me, trust me.” You say, exhaling deeply before standing up straighter, ready to end this conversation.
“We do miss you! Seriously.” Mike adds, looking nervous like it might not be the right thing to say.
“Thanks guys.” You say, accepting their sentiments. “Tell Lucas I said hey and sorry for running off on him on Friday. And sorry to you guys too, I did say I was going to stay and then I didn’t.” You add before turning on your heels, heading off to the library without waiting for their reply.
That evening, instead of moping in your room again, you decided to walk to family video. Making matters worse, your dad bought a new distortion pedal for his guitar and he’s been bugging you about getting Eddie to come over to check it out since Sunday. You're clean out of excuses and can’t handle him asking you again tonight, so getting out of the house seems like your best option. Robin usually doesn’t work Wednesday, which leaves Steve closing by himself. You’re not mad at Robin, you just can’t handle the interrogation.
Steve wouldn’t push you for answers like Robin would. He wouldn’t give you the cold shoulder like the other guys. He wouldn’t be the first person you’d hang out with, that of course would be Eddie but… yeah. Steve is a good friend though.
As soon as you walk into the video store you hear Steve calling your name from the register.
“Hey! Long time no see!” He says happily.
“Yeah. How are you!” You ask, trying to return his chipper attitude but it comes out meek.
“Eh, living the dream.” He says, smiling. He rounds the counter, leaning against it, beside where you’re standing. “And what about you?” He asks, quirking a brow.
“I’ve been better.” You say honestly. “Mind if I chill with you for a bit?” You ask, looking around the empty store.
“Not at all, in fact, I welcome it.” He laughs, his own eyes grazing the desolate isles.
You take a seat behind the counter with him, just talking about nothing. You can tell Steve’s waiting for you to bring something up though, he keeps giving you knowing looks whenever there’s a lull in conversation.
When he turns away to help some customers you mentally give yourself a pep talk to talk about it. You’re not going to cry.
“So… I assume the children and Robin filled you in?” You say, once Steve joins you again after the customers have left.
“That they did.” He says, smiling at you with a nod of his head.
“And?” You say, waiting for him to bombard you like Robin did.
“And what? What do I think?” He asks. You sit back, surprised by his response.
“I guess.” You say shrugging.
“Well… you and Munson are close. Obviously. Totally and completely close. I can see why you’re like… y’know… freaked out or whatever. In denial, like Robin said.” Steve says, shrugging his shoulders, mirroring your action.
You look up at Steve in total shock from his extremely validating answer and he just smiles back at you.
“Don’t you think… Am I not.. in the wrong? I mean, it feels like everybody's mad at me… but like, I don’t know what to do?” You say quietly, stumbling through your thoughts.
“I don’t think you’re in the wrong. Feelings are complicated, there’s not really a right or a wrong.” Steve says genuinely, surprising you.
“Wise.” You laugh.
“Well, you know. I’ve had my fair share of feelings.” Steve laughs.
“How did you know when you- uh…” You trail off. Steve waits patiently for you to speak and you’re beyond thankful for it. “With Nancy, how’d you know?” You say, mustering you all of your courage.
“I think that’s a little different because we weren’t close friends first, but… it’s hard to say. I guess I just really wanted to be with her, even if it was just hanging out. Thought about her like 24/7. All of that corny shit, like butterflies and blushing and feeling like you can’t breathe.” Steve says, grabbing a tape off the counter and fidgeting with it in his hands.
“Sorry for asking about Nancy.” You say, picking up his discomfort as soon as he starts playing with his hair, pushing it back over and over again.
“Don’t worry about it, seriously.” He says, reaching a hand across and patting your knee in a friendly manner.
“I guess, I’m just confused cause… I’ve never thought of Eddie that way, but… maybe I have?” You say, questioning yourself.
“Hmm.” Steve hums, thinking to himself.
“Like, I feel like Eddie’s my person. He’s the only one that I want to hang out with all the time, and I always think about him… but the butterflies and all that other stuff you said, I don’t know. I feel like Eddie's just Eddie, he doesn’t make me nervous like that.
“Well that could be because you’ve known him your whole life?” Steve gathers. “And I’m not trying to fuck with your head or anything, but you can’t say you don’t blush at stuff he does. I’ve seen it before.” Steve smiles at you genuinely.
“What?” You scrunch your face. You so do not blush because of Eddie. “When?”
“Halloween. Jonathon was taking all those photos and Eddie kissed you on the cheek for one of them. You seriously went bright as a tomato and there’s photo evidence.” Steve laughs.
You remember that night. You did blush, but you blamed it on the alcohol consumed… even though you only had half a beer at that point. You literally went hot all over and then you blamed it on not eating enough before drinking.
“Oh my god.” You say, mostly for yourself. Eddie had made you blush. He made you blush hard.
“Am I right?” Steve says smugly. You reach across, hitting Steve on the shoulder but he swats you away with a laugh.
“I hate to say it Steve, but maybe you’re onto something.” You smile in disbelief.
“You people have no faith in me.” Steve says, faking hurt.
All you can do is smile at him because things are finally starting to make a little more sense.
“Well, want to keep going or are you tapping out of feelings?” Steve says, quirking his brow at you, making you laugh.
“What are you? Dr. Harrington? PhD in love?” You joke, grabbing your own tape off the counter to fiddle with.
“Oh yeah. Took a lot of heartbreak to get my PhD but hey, if it helps at least one person, maybe it was all worth it.” He laughs.
The conversation lulls for a moment but you quickly break it, deciding you’re not tapping out of your feelings, how could you when you’re so close to understanding?
“Do you think it’ll ruin our friendship? Like what if it doesn’t work out?” You spit out your worst fear, but it doesn’t even phase Steve.
“Well, from what I heard from Robs, how’s your friendship going right now?” Steve says cautiously with a softness to his voice.
“Horrible. I’m miserable. He looks miserable, but I haven’t really talked to him since last Thursday and even then he was acting weird.” You frown thinking about how Eddie looked in the cafeteria, slouched in his seat at the table, eyes all sad, not even talking to the guys— and Eddie is a talker, it’s not fucking normal for him not to be talking.
“Right. And you’re still confused about if you have feelings for him?” Steve asks genuinely, curious but not prying.
“I mean yeah. Like, I pictured Eddie in my life forever, but I never even considered it in that way or really any way at all. I never put much thought into it, ever.” You say honestly.
“You don’t… you know.. think about him sexually.” Steve asks, grinning. You look down into your lap, shyly and you feel your cheeks heat but it’s an easy question you know the answer to.
“Truthfully? I always blamed it on him being so close to me. Like proximity planted all that shit in my head. And like… obviously I trust him and stuff so, like… if I thought about him like that, I always told myself it’s because I could trust him and that’s it.” You say, hiding in your hands. Steve grabs at your hands, before shooting you an amused smile. He’s so stupid, but this is fucking working, he’s actually making everything make sense.
“So you’re attracted to him?” Steve says once your blush cools.
“Eddie’s fucking beautiful. I’ve never been shy to say that. Well, except when he was, like, going through puberty, that was scary.” You say widening your eyes, remembering how gangly and extra clumsy he was right after his growth spurt, and the awkward squeaky voice he had for an entire summer before his voice dropped. Steve laughs at you, clearly enjoying the terror that flashes over your face when you remember the first time you found his porn stash that somehow moved in right along with puberty.
“And… correct me if I’m wrong but you’ve never had a boyfriend, right?” Steve says.
“You are correct.” You say sheepishly.
“And why’s that?” He asks. You shrug, starting to feel nervous.
“You don’t have to tell me. I’m not judging you for your choices, just might be helpful to think about?” Steve says softly, leaving it as an optional question with a way out if you so please.
“Yeah. I think, just… dunno. Whenever I’d think about going on a date, I’d always think about Eddie and that would kind of cut the idea short, if that makes sense? Not that I’d think about going on dates with him, just like, if I thought about going on a date it was more so, like… ‘well I usually hang out with Eddie so there’s no time’.” You ramble, nerves getting to you.
“Makes total sense. But you don’t think you associated Eddie with dating because…” Steve leads, leaving open space in his point for you to conclude.
“Because I want to date Eddie?” You say out loud, trying to piece together the puzzle that you’ve been recklessly throwing the pieces around to for far too long.
“Once again, I’m not trying to make you think any particular way. Just helping you get to your own conclusions. Think of me as an impartial mediator.” Steve says, standing up from his spot, starting to pile some tapes back into a cart. You stand too, starting to help him since you’ve stolen so much of his time.
“You really should consider getting a PhD or something, cause damn. Much to think about.” You laugh. “When did you get so wise.” You joke, pushing at his shoulder.
“Yeah. Definitely would never qualify for a PhD, but thanks.” Steve laughs, placing the final VHS from the counter into the basket. “Now, want to do returns with me? Either that or we leave them for Robin tomorrow and when she chews me out I'll totally blame it on you so…” Steve says, tilting his face at you, raising his brows waiting for your response.
“Already had Robin chew me out enough.” You smile, grabbing the return bin for Steve.
You ended up staying with Steve until close. After he dropped you off at home, you spent the whole night thinking about everything you talked through with Dr. Harrington.
Even after a night of contemplation, you kept thinking about it into the next day. You thought about it as you walked by yourself to school, sat through home room alone, ate lunch alone, walked home alone, and spent the evening alone.
You like Eddie.
It’s so fucking clear now.
I mean, every time you’ve ever pictured your future? It’s always been with Eddie. Every dirty thought, every wet dream, every time you touched yourself, it’s always been about Eddie. You don’t go on dates and you’ve never cared to, because you have Eddie. Eddie is your person though and through.
You don’t just like Eddie. You love him.
And when that thought crosses your mind, you feel sick. Feels like someone is both tickling you and also absolutely bludgeoning you from the inside out. Is this what butterflies are? Holy fuck.
When you think about Eddie spilling his guts to Jeff and Gareth in the drama room, you get that feeling and, god, is it horrible. But also… it makes you giddy?
You think about Eddie and suddenly you can’t wipe the stupid grin off your face. You think about his eyes, his nose, his stupid jokes, his laugh, and you get that fluttery feeling.
Deeper into the night you think about Eddie’s lips. You think about his hands, his arms, the way he always is touching you, the ways he could touch you, and you get a different feeling. Like a heat brewing in you. A desire, a neediness. Sure, you’ve thought things about Eddie, but never this purposefully. It makes you squirm in your bed until you get up and go grab water to cool yourself down.
You wake up befuddled with feelings. Like Steve was a fucking train conductor and you just got run over.
It doesn’t help that you remembered that you kind of fucked this up already. It’s Friday. It’s been a whole week since you overheard him.
It’s barely been 24 hours of you feeling so full of feelings. If Eddie was sure enough to admit he loved you to the guys, how long has he been feeling like this? If he’s felt anywhere near the way you feel now, he must have been drowning. And you were just letting him. And now, you’ve made him go a week, knowing that you know that he loves you, and you just went awol.
Your mind goes to what he said in the drama room.
“She’s killing me.”
You’ve been killing him. It didn’t make sense at first, but now it does. It makes perfect sense and it took you until 5PM on Friday night to understand it after a long day of skipping school, laying in bed, and stress baking. And you need to stop it.

Somebody Loves You, You Got A Friend. (Part 8)
Other parts: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
Seeing as all my current WIPs are making me mad, I nearly forgot about this. Since it’s already written out and in my notes app, I thought I should post it lol.
Quick note: a few POV changes happen, there’s a bit of plot and I kinda bash Nancy a bit. (picks up right after part 7)
Gareth watches as Eddie falls asleep and he only knows because of how relaxed his friend looks and he pulls his eyes away to find the freshmen looking so confused.
They don’t ask anything, thankfully, but they’re not at all sneaky with their glances towards Eddie. Or the completely silent conversation they have with each other.
He just hopes whatever it’s about doesn’t involve Eddie.
Eddie’s dragging the rest of the day and Gareth is about ready to explode at how dumb his friend is being, “dude, you should’ve stayed home”
“I had to take tests, that effects my final grades” he says, “I- Ms. Click fucking hates me dude”
And unfortunately, his friend is right and he has to watch as he suffers finding his work and everything else. The rest of the day is pretty boring, the only weird thing was catching Nancy Wheeler eye Eddie during their shared class. He only noticed because he’s trying and failing at not laughing at Eddie, who’s nodding off during Mr. Smith’s lecture.
Once the final bell rings, he’s trying to find Eddie since their last class isn’t shared.
He turns the corner and nearly falls on his ass, “fuck” he mumbles and looks to see the person he ran into, “dude my bad.”
Jonathan Byers nods and helps him up, “sorry, I wasn’t paying attention either
He’s about to say something else, when he hears an all too familiar laugh. Looking around he finds Eddie with a nasty glare aimed at Nancy Wheeler, he looks at Jonathan and wordlessly they both move towards the other two.
“I don’t fucking sell shit anymore, Wheeler and it wouldn’t be any of your business if I did!”
She crossed her arms and glares up at Eddie, “but you did sell! And it is my business!”
He can just see Eddie’s anger, before anything else happens, he steps closer to his friend and quickly grabs his arm, “Eddie let’s go, cool off before you get home, yeah?”
Eddie doesn’t answer, just glares at Nancy, “it’s not your business, he told you to stay away! That means, stay away from me too.”
He doesn’t say more, simply because Gareth punches his arm and leads him back out, “dude what the fuck?”
Eddie shakes his head and makes a beeline to the van, “Nancy is a bitch, dude.”
“I noticed, who were you talking about?”
“Stevie. Nancy believes she can get him to help her with some shit. Been like this for a year now, when Stevie and I were only just starting out with our friendship” Eddie explains with a glare aimed at nothing and his hands clutching and unclutching from frustration, “When he was only a few months pregnant, there was one morning where his mom answered the door to find her standing there and wanted her to wake him up to fucking talk about whatever”
That’s, really fucking confusing to Gareth. He looks towards the school and sees Jonathan and Nancy walk out with their brothers, “didn’t Nancy break up with Steve?”
Eddie let out a near hysterical laugh, a cigarette dangling from his mouth now, “She nearly fucking broke him, actually.”
“What?”
Eddie jumps into the drivers seat, pointing a finger to his passenger seat and he doesn’t need to be told twice. Once inside the van and Eddie starts it up, “Stevie told me that she blamed him for Barb’s death and his mom told me about how she found him sobbing about it. He said Nancy called him bullshit, that their whole relationship was bullshit.”
“Fuck dude”
He’ll never be able to look at Nancy the same, “and now she’s pushing you to what?”
Eddie scruffs and turns down his street, “Fuck, I don’t even know. She came up to me demanding to know if I knew why Stevie left school or where he is, then when I wouldn’t answer, tried saying I’m a bad influence”
He laughed, “I mean you are but not like that”
“Fuck you dude” he smiles and shakes his head, “I haven’t sold anything since I found about Ellie. Wayne pulled me aside after we told him, to tell me that I needed to stop- I mean, I already was thinking it.” He shrugs, “I don’t know why Nancy would think like that”
Gareth doesn’t either and he tells this to Eddie, the van comes to a stop in front of his home, “I don’t know either, she sounds like she’s a little obsessed with Steve.”
“I know and it’s weird, right?”
The Next Day
Eddie is woken up by Eleanor’s cry and he groans, he feels Steve stir next to him and he shushes him, “stay, I’ll grab her” he gets a hum in return and he sits up before dragging himself over to her crib.
She’s kicking her legs and wiggling trying to get out of the blanket, “hey baby” he whispers to catch her attention, she blinks up at him and whines.
Smiling, he lifts her up and rocks her, “come on, cranky.” He looks over and sees Steve smiling at him, it makes his heart beat a little faster.
Steve moves up a bit and pulls his shirt off, before he can even sit down next to him. Eleanor is no longer crying, thankfully, but Steve still makes grabby hands at him.
Laughing, he hands her over and then pulls the covers back over them before wrapping his arm around Steve. They sit in silence as Eleanor drinks and Steve drops his head onto his shoulder, “I guess it’s another long day”
Laughing softly he pressed a kiss to his head, “want me to stay home?”
“Maybe? She was so fussy yesterday, Eds.” He whispers, a hand patting her back, “even mom couldn’t get her to settle”
Later on Janet finds all three of them in bed asleep, Eleanor in Steve’s arms and Steve against Eddie. She shakes her head before going over and shaking Eddie, “Honey, don’t you have school today?”
He blinks back sleep and looks up to find her standing there, “nah, I’m skipping today. Gotta help Stevie”
She smiles, nodding before placing a kiss on their foreheads, “I’ll call the school, have one of your friends pick up your schoolwork later, okay?”
He nods and she smiles before walking out of the room and he looks down to find Steve still asleep with Eleanor snuggled against him. Sighing, he relaxes back down and decides they don’t need to get up anytime soon.
Steve is humming along to the mixtape Eddie put on to fill the kitchen as they make breakfast/lunch.
It’s currently noon and Eleanor is having tummy time in the living room with Eddie, while he’s busy making breakfast sandwiches. They slept in until nearly eleven and when they made their way downstairs, Steve found a note from his mom telling them she had several appointments today.
He can hear Eddie encouraging Eleanor to move around as he makes his way towards them with their food, when the doorbell rings. Confused, he sets the plates down and goes to the front door and through the peephole finds Nancy and Jonathan.
Even more confused and a little frustrated, he opens the door with, “Isn’t today a school day? Why are you guys here?”
They both look shocked to see him, which is weird since they’re the one’s knocking on his door.
“I’ve been trying to find you!” Nancy starts with and there’s her angry determination, “you’ve been locked up in your house?!”
Jonathan just looks uncomfortable.
Raising an eyebrow at her, he shakes his head, “uh, yes? I live here. Just because we don’t run into each other doesn’t mean I left town. Just my asshole father, now you should go back to school. Isn’t this your senior year?”
“Shouldn’t you be there with us?”
Rolling his eyes, he leans against the wall. Giving the impression of indifference, “I graduated earlier this year, through a different school. Not that it concerns you, I’ve told you before, Nancy. I’m not your boyfriend, and I’m definitely not your friend.” He then looks At Jonathan then back at her, “he’s your boyfriend, now leave me alone. Leave Eddie alone while you’re at it”
Nancy narrows her eyes at him and he can just barely smell the annoyance in the air from her scent, “So you are still friends with him? Is he the reason you dropped out? Why you won’t help with the upside down?”
“I have much more important things in life,” he thinks of carrying Eleanor for nine months, holding her and feeding her, thinks of being with Eddie and the alpha holding him like he’s the whole world, “like I said before, I was there to apologize. I stepped in when you needed help, but afterwards? We were told it was over. Will was found and is fine and safe. Shouldn’t you guys be over this?”
Neither person in front of him can give him an answer because he hears Eddie shout, “Oh Stevie! The little missy and I miss you!”
He sees the confusion on their faces and before they can ask, he slams the door in their faces. Which if he’s being honest, he should’ve done sooner. He locks the door and turns around to the ones that actually deserve his attention.
He knows, Nancy won’t give up though.
~
Yikes I completely forgot how I wrote Nancy in this 🫣 oops. Please know I DO love her but she’s just a stubborn person and can’t understand that Steve’s not involved and refuses to be involved.
I can’t believe I added plot to this lol anyway, we’ll get to more slice of life again 🥰
