I had a mad moment less than 48hours ago where I decided to totally change the outfit I had planned to wear to the @creativeheadmag Most Wanted Awards, and take a bit of a fashion risk and try something a bit crafty!

I’d seen Catherin O Hara on the brand new cover of @ellecanada and remembered seeing the absolutely incredible @selmablair wearing a similar head to toe @schiaparelli look a couple of months ago. Their looks were styled with a human hair TIE and got it in my head that I absolutely had to recreate!

I do have a toxic trait for thinking I can do anything - (bake giant meringues - sure, wallpaper my own house - absolutely, sing opera - 100%) but surely this would be easy enough seeing as I was using hair - my medium of choice!?

Thankfully, after shopping in my own kitbag, having left no time to buy anything new, I pulled out the @beautyworksprofessional ‘Insta-Braid Ponytail Piece, which happened to be the PERFECT length and density! I mocked up the style and felt more and more confident I could make it work! I did, however, decide that it absolutely must match my own hair colour and so after gently clarifying to prepare for colour using my favourite @olaplex 4C I used @evopro Fab Pro to gradually dip the hair piece until it matched close enough (this is one of my favourite easy and speedy tricks for colouring or toning hair extensions).

Anyway, it all came together with half a can of Builders Paradise hairspray (also @evohair) and I have never had so many compliments (plus quite a few confused double-takes).

If a hairdresser can’t wear a hair-tie to a Hair Awards, who can!?

I feel honored. I just wanted to make sure it was a fun day, not so focused on the typical shower vibe but more of getting all the people I love together to celebrate baby girl. I can't wait to show her photos when she's older. She's going to realize she's the coolest baby ever with everyone who showed up.. I mean, Maneskin and Dua Lipa at her shower? Bragging rights. Even more so bragging rights to get you to go blonde. Should you ever take leap for real, my stylist is amazing. She's a genius, especially with blondes. I mean.. BeautyWorks made an extensions shade after the color she did on me! We can't have a smug Dami. I think you mean waddling rather than walking! I have a little less than a month now. Isn't that mad? She'll be here so soon. @ethaneskinx

my sister-in-law never had a baby shower and i think you're one of the first people in my circle who's been pregnant, so it was a fun new experience. the food was also worth the flight out. if i'm going to be frying my hair and scalp for someone, it'll be for a little princess. besides, if it'd do it for dami, he would be so goddamn smug there would be no living with him. you're a champ for still walking around and being on your feet with the belly getting bigger. she definitely looks ready to join us on earthside. how far is your due date now?

Your gut feelings always tend to be right. I've learned that especially the last couple of years. Speaking of confidence.. I have a funny story, actually. Well, it's a pretty devastating story but I laugh it off now and wish I stood up for myself more back then. I got scouted on the train when I was a teen. I was buzzing because I really wanted to be a model back then. I went into the meeting the next day after calling out of work, dressed in all black and no makeup as they requested. I did a bit of a spin in front of all these people at the agency. The woman took one look at me and was like, "Yeah, no.. sorry. I made a mistake. You're not the right shape for a model." She told me I looked different on the train, my legs looked different. It was mortifying. Now I could never consider myself a model after that. I do modeling, but definitely no model. I'm fortunate that PLT and the brands I work with make me feel so comfortable and confident on those shoots. I know how cut-throat that industry is. I have thicker skin now but oh my gosh, I wanted to disappear in that moment! I think that's great you're teaching your daughter to have that mindset and confidence from such a young age. That's so important. She's literally a mini you, it's so sweet. Wow, that's insane you were wearing extra twenty pounds on the runway, in heels. Very impressive. Was that your favorite VS runway look you've worn? Thank you so much! I'll have a look and let you know which ones I fancy! I'll have to return the favor and send some Filter by Molly-Mae products and BeautyWorks products. The fit truly does make all the difference. I wish I had started tailoring all my clothes sooner. I mean, they do it for shoots or events but never thought of doing it for my everyday looks until recently. @rcmeestriid

It was tough, but I'm glad I gave it a second shot once I was a bit older. Part of me would probably still be wondering 'what if?' if I hadn't. You have to keep telling yourself that you are, even if you don't always believe it. It got easier to do that after I had Mint because I want her to grow up strong and with that confidence. What kind of example would I be if I didn't practice what I preached? They were so heavy! They looked light as a feather – no pun intended – but they averaged to be about fifteen pounds each. The heaviest I wore was twenty pounds, which was really closer to thirty because the bodysuit also weighed about seven pounds. It was intense! It's called Naetur and if you go on the site and pick out some pieces, I'll have them sent to you. We started as just jewelry but recently moved into some apparel as well. Doesn't it make a difference in whether you buy an item or not based on if you can see it working on your body? That's not a bad mentality to have. Good clothes are good clothes, no matter the designer or retailer. The fit makes all the difference! In my opinion, a good fit elevates the entire look and makes it look more expensive. That's tough. I get to work with Dior, Louis Vuitton and Balmain a lot –– and I love their vibes. But I also love smaller, local boutiques –– and a big portion of my wardrobe comes from Revolve. That's a great one-stop spot. @mollymaehague
