My Journey begins

Just noticed my first didn’t get posted so here it is..........

Welcome one and all to my new beauty blog, where you will encounter beauty of the honest kind.  I Had ideas of diving straight into reviews of products that catch my eye and give my honest opinion on them and up coming beauty trends and what I think. However, since I had the delightful plearure of meeting the lovely Antonia Mariconda at one of her workshops i've decided to change my stance. My first blog (hello blog one!) will be about me and how I got into Make-up and beauty products.            

Growing up I never felt perticularly pretty but I was perfectly ok with being average and melting into the background at secondary school. One fateful night that all changed and my life was turned on its head. At the tender age of 14, which is a difficult age in itself, I was viciously attacked by a dog and ended up with a hole in my face. I mean i could quiet litterally stick my tounge out of it. (not that i did as it was painful enough as it was.  I screamed as it hurt so much and on liking in the mirror I was horrified by what I saw. It wasn't me I was looking at it looked like something from a slasher movie. After that I was bandaged up for quite sometime and longer than was neccessary as I couldn't bare to look at myself and didn't want to subject others to it.  I never left home after the attack for 2 weeks but was forced back to school by my parents. I was no longer average or ordinary and nor did I melt into the background. Everyone at school suddenly knew who i was but most never knew my name. I got teased and taunted and was called alsorts from the usual scare face, dog face, dog food. I had other kids walk past snarling and growling. Kids really are so very cruel and vicious. Several times I contemplated taking more of my pain killers to make all the pain both physical and emotional just go away.                 When it came to the point where I was quiet literally forced to take the bandages off and looked at myself in the mirror again i felt like a horrible ugly monster. I was reccomended alsorts to deal with the scaring and didn't really know what to use. So I researched and in the end spent lots on bees wax products and aloe vera products. It was then I started wearing make-up and constantly being told to remove it at school, not that I ever did. It never worked and still the bullying continued. After 12 months I was finally allowed to have my first of 2 rounds of reconstruction surgery. On going back to school more of the usual taunts came along with some new ones because I had plastic surgery. I started having things (usually little bits of plastic and rubbers) thrown at me and new people started bullying me. To be honest I really do not know how I would have gotten through those times without my friends that I did have. After the scare healed and I was again allowed to put make-up on I couldn't do it fast enough. Still when looking in the mirror all I could see was that hole I had at the start and no amount of make-up hid the pain i felt inside. 12 more months and more reconstruction surgery was done and this time i was optimistic that once healed I would see me again. Sadly that was not the case and I continued every day never leaving my house without make-up.

That is my introduction to how I started wearing make-up with details missing that may become apparent in my next post. I Would like to thank Antonia for giving me the courage to start with something so personal and that I never really talked about.
