Beauty and the Beast, but it's the Mechanisms.

Jonny must be the beast because feral Jonny and the whole heart thing... prove me wrong.

Rest of the Mechs are the servants in the Beast's house. With an exception for Marius as Gaston cause I can totally fucking see it. He would suck at it though because it's Marius. And also, short Marius HC.

This is probably not new. But it's been brewing in my head for a good few months, ever since I put my Mechs OC in the iconic Belle dress.

I get that Lyf is a fan favorite, I'm obsessed with them trust me, but I vote that they're not the only one from the albums that makes it in. Most of the important roles are taken up already, but how hilarious would it be if the townsfolk were just a large clump of people who in other worlds were tragic protagonists.

A bakery with no plot relevance worked by the Pendragons, the tavern owned by Ulysses, and Snow and Cole have been fighting over the position of governor for as long as anyone can remember. There's this one shut-in who practically lives in his basement, they say his name's Pilchard? He's never seen leaving the house except in the regular attempt to break into Carmilla's house. He's an incompetent idiot, and she actually knows what she's doing, so it has yet to work, but he sure as hell hasn't stopped trying. He's too afraid to approach her in public, though, and she thinks it's funny, so it just keeps going for decades. (I think it's even funnier if the town is all just Rose Reds, personally, but probably wouldn't actually work.)

Oh yeah. And I think the guy who led Brian's execution should be Galahad. Just a thought.

Summary : Macaque never met the great sage, nor the brotherhood, he simply lived like a hermit until his lantern was stolen by a thrall. He finds himself coming to Megapolis in search of his lantern, there he meets MK, his friends and one particularly insistent golden-furred monkey who seems keen on flirting with him despite the Lady Bone Demon taking over the world.

Summary : Sun Wukong's mind is severely damaged by the Lady Bone Demon's possession, leading him to act like a beast. Macaque being the only person he trusts in this state, he is designated as his babysitter. Macaque refuses at first but then finds himself needing magic to survive and decides to accept being a babysitter to better steal Sun Wukong's magic. He might became more attached than he planned for.

Years after Sun Wukong has taken his horsley duties Heaven found another celestial monkey, the Six-eared Macaque causing mayhem in the mortal world. The macaque is judged and if he wants to avoid his execution, he has to become the bimawen's assistant. The problem is the monkeys don't really like each other.

Summary : A reddit style story with interactive comments about Wukong mess of a love life (and his gay awakening). What he didn't expect was to get along with Macaque and, after explaining the situation and discovering Macaque had no idea he was a side piece, to get hammered and sleep with him.

Love Addicts :

Summary : Macaque and Sun Wukong find themselves feeling miserable after season 5. MK lost his powers when he jumped in the pillar, and both monkeys can't help but feel guilty. Sun Wukong then stumbles upon an odd door in his treasure trove and discovers the existence of a bar selling love potions. Despite hating each other, both monkeys decides to drink one potion to recover some sort of happiness, letting themselves be in love for one week. They take another one after the end of this first week and soon become addicted to the taste of love, even if this love is fake.

As such he decides to approach him in an unusual way... He becomes a bell and spend the day at his jester's side, on his hat.

But after a particular incident, they were never able to pilot together again. Years after, Macaque is required to pilot with Wukong for one last time. One last mission. Maybe having the world on the line will push them both to rekindle what was once lost.

Summary : Both monkeys find themselves being transported to a movie-like dimension in which Sun Wukong is the insanely famous Monkey Cop and Macaque a world-wide known thief accused of murder. If they want to get back to their own dimension, they have to solve a murder and finish the movie's scenario. Problem is neither mystic monkeys turn out to be great detectives.

Once upon a monkey

Summary : various long one shots of shadowpeach being in different fairy tales.

How to bewitch the witch : Wukong is the prince of the Sun Kingdom and falls in love with the cruel sea witch, Macaque, while said witch was destroying his wedding with the mermaid prince, Azure. Once Azure returns to his kingdom and their wedding falls void, Wukong does everything in his power to court Macaque. Turns out, courting a sea witch is quite difficult.

The strongest of them all : Macaque is a magic mirror with the ability to hear past, present and future terribly in love with his owner, the King Sun Wukong. One day Sun Wukong learns that he's not the strongest anymore, but that he's step-son, MK, is. Macaque, after listening to the future, fears for his King and tries to better the relationship between MK and Wukong.

Fighting Beauty : Macaque is prince Sun Wukong personal guard, in charge of guarding him until his betrothed comes to rescue him from the sleeping spell casted upon him. Things get awkward when Macaque awakens Sun Wukong on his first night on duty. Sun Wukong, impatient as ever, decides to slay the dragon himself and not wait on his betrothed, Macaque is dragged in the quest despite himself.

Midnight Illusion : Macaque is at day the mistreated step-son of the Lady Bone Demon, and at night the leader of the most fearsome thieves of the Sun Kingdom. He's unfortunately caught by the royal guard in the middle of a thievery. He's given two choices by the Sun King himself : either spend the rest of his life in prison, or spy on his own step-mother while also pretending to be the Sun King betrothed. Naturally, he chose the second option.

The Mage and the Monkey : Sun Wukong is cursed by the wandering mage, Macaque, after refusing to give him shelter on a stormy night. He's now the Monkey King, and he'll stay in this beastly form as long as he cannot find true love, according to the Mage, at least. But Sun Wukong is not one to stay idle, he finds the Mage huts after a lot of searching, and bugs him everyday to undo the curse. Macaque is tempted to accept, only because Sun Wukong is getting annoying.

Summary : Sun Wukong was lonely. He felt like there was a wedge between him and the world, that no-one could ever understand him. Even his successor couldn't hope to breach his shell. Pushed by his loneliness, Wukong stole a forbidden book from the gods with the vilest spells written in it and bring his shadow to life.

A Barbarian AU where Soundwave and Hot Rod are put into an arranged marriage for peace of both tribes. Hot Rod is SO nervous since he's never met Soundwave before but ends up falling in love with a mysterious mech who accompanies him on his journey to the other tribe's lands. Turns out the mystery mech is Soundwave, who wanted to get to know Roddy first and he's also in love with him.

"It's time."

His carrier walked inside and he gave him a nervous jerk of his head before looking back at the mirror.

His carrier came over putting his hands on his shoulders.

"You look beautiful."

His carrier had tears in his optics when he looked him over. Taking in their tribes ceremonial wear.

"I can't believe my bitty is getting bonded."

His carrier cried and he tilted his head up to stop himself from crying. Not wanting to smudge the ceremonial paint on his face. In fear that it would make his sire angry.

Even though his carrier tried to pretend this was a happy event they both knew it wasn't. His sire had been looking for a way to get rid of him for a long time now and he's finally found the perfect excuse.

"Let's go. They're waiting for you."

His carrier pulled himself together not wanting everyone to know he'd been crying.

He nodded, letting his carrier pull him outside where a guard was waiting to take him to the Decepticons tribe.

With tears in his optics he hugged his family and friends goodbye. All of them giving him sad looks and telling him to be safe. None of them wanted him to go but they didn't have a choice. His sire gave a speech about peace and goodwill which he ignored. His sire didn't care about those things and was only doing this for himself.

He didn't notice his body was shaking until the guard gave him a worried look.

"Are you okay?"

He nodded even though he felt anything but okay. He barely resisted wrapping his arms around himself in comfort while listening to his sires speech.

When it was done the guard gave him a reluctant look knowing he wanted more time to say goodbye, but they didn't have it.

"We have to go if we want to make it to the campsite before dark."

He forced himself to follow the guard who led him through the familiar forest. They didn't talk on the first day. He wouldn't even look at the guard too upset about being bonded against his will.

It wasn't until the second day that he finally spoke. They had been walking through the forest when they ran into a wild animal. Clearly upset at their trespassing the animal ran at them and tried to attack.

The guard managed to slay the beast in an impressive display of skill. Before turning to him and asking.

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine."

He found himself looking the guard over and checking him for injuries.

"Are you okay?"

The guard nodded looking a little flustered and he quickly pulled away as though he'd been burned. This person wasn't his friend. They were taking him to the Decepticons tribe where he would be forced to bond with a stranger.

He moved away from the guard and continued walking.

"We should get going the journey is long and I have no doubt Soundwave is waiting for my arrival."

The two walked in silence an odd tension between them. He could see the guard looking conflicted whenever he glanced at him, but he ignored the guard. Instead he thought about his family and wondered how they were doing.

As they walked a fog quickly rolled in and he found himself stumbling through the forest having trouble seeing.

For a moment he thought about making a break for it and running into the fog. Hoping to lose the Decepticons guard. He must have guessed what he was about to do, because he was grabbed from behind. He struggled for a moment trying to break free.

"Stop!"

The guard pressed him against his chest and he looked down. During their struggle the fog cleared enough for him to see a cliff.

He gasped in shock and Soundwave pulled him away from the edge.

"We need to be careful otherwise we might not be so lucky."

The two of them had to hold hands in order not to get separated as the fog got worse. He occasionally thought about running away and risking it,.but he couldn't do that. He wasn't willing to risk his friends and family in the hopes of freedom.

Occasionally he'd trip over something or almost fall down which was embarrassing. The guard led them to a cave where they could wait until the fog cleared.

"We don't have to stop. We can keep going."

He tried to argue wanting this over with.

"You've fallen multiple times."

He scoffed.

"Why do you care?"

"Because you are important."

"What? Is Soundwave worried his mates paint will be scratched on the way over? It's not easy walking in all of these ceremonial garments."

The guard was silent for a long time and he didn't think he'd get a response.

"I'm sorry."

He huffed.

"It's not your fault my sire decided to sell me to the Decepticons."

"You say that as though the Decepticons are some evil tribe."

"We've been at war for so long and from the way my sire talks about your tribe it's always seemed that way."

"We are far from evil. We merely wanted to be treated as an equal tribe. Your sire was trying to take our land. He was constantly trespassing and blocked a valuable pass that allowed us to easily go through the mountains. My people have suffered because of your sires actions. During the last winter we didn't make it across the mountain in time and were trapped. Many of my people starved to death or were frozen."

"I'm sorry I didn't know."

He gave him a guilty look because he'd never known any of this. Even though he was supposed to be the Autobots prince. He'd always been turned away for being a tank carrier. His sire and his high command used to tell him the only thing he was good for was having sparklings.

Even though he'd tried so hard to prove himself hoping to earn his father's love and respect. He now realized that he'd been wasting his time.

"I'm sorry as well. This is not your war to end. It is your sires. The Decepticons should have never asked for a bonding."

He immediately protested.

"But that is your culture. You bond with another tribe to create a treaty."

"Yes but both participants have to be willing. Your sire has clearly chosen someone who's not."

"Oh..."

"You seem to know a little about the Decepticons culture."

He blushed.

"After my bonding. I decided to learn more about your culture, but there wasn't much and I have a feeling a lot of it was wrong. They made it seem as though your tribe was barbaric with no honor."

"That is far from the truth."

"You said that both participants have to be willing to bond. Does that mean Soundwave wants to bond with me?"

The guard nodded giving him a look he'd never seen before.

"You have no idea."

"What is he like?"

The guard gave him a flustered look.

"I don't know. The people seem happy enough with him."

The guard then glanced at him.

"He will take care of you if that's what you're worried about."

He nodded having a lot to think about. He never thought Soundwave would want to bond with him. The idea had seemed impossible at the time especially the way his sire described it.

When the fog cleared up they continued walking through the forests. This time the two talked to each other about their culture. Hot Rod was interested in learning more before his arrival and the guard was happy to tell him.

When they made it to their next campsite the sun was long gone and he found himself shivering as the cold night air brushed against his plating.

Glancing at the guard he also looked cold although he had thicker armor on, so it didn't bother him as much.

The ceremonial garments did little to keep him warm and he knew it was going to be a long night.

The guard noticing he was cold reminded himself to find a cyberbeast with a thick coat for Hot Rod. His thin armor would not keep him warm up in the mountains where his tribe lived, especially when winter hit.

Hot Rod tried to stay warm but it was impossible and he found himself staring at the sky wide awake and shivering.

The guard decided to lay next to him and he was surprised when he wrapped his arms around him.

"So you'll stay warm."

"Thanks."

He blushed and buried his face against the guards chest to hide it.

Being surrounded by his warmth he quickly drifted off to sleep and it wasn't long before the guard fell asleep as well.

When he awoke he found himself shivering and he looked around wondering where the guard had gone. He forced himself to get up wishing he was back home and in his comfortable nest instead of sleeping on the ground.

He didn't think the guard would leave him all alone out there. Which reassured him a little as he looked around.

"I'm back."

The guard came out of the forest with a large cyberbeast over his shoulders which was an impressive catch.

He blushed at the sight feeling his spark quicken, because giving someone your catch was a sign of courting.

He pulled out his favorite knife and came over to help Soundwave cut up the animal. Looking around for a few more ingredients he made them a stew for breakfast.

"This is amazing."

"Thank you."

He gave him a shy smile pleased he liked the meal.

"I used to help my carrier and the other members of my tribe all the time."

"You're an excellent cook."

"I learned from the best."

The guard wrapped the fur around him making sure he was comfortable.

"This is for you. It's going to get colder the higher we go."

"Thank you."

The two continued their journey and he found himself falling for the guard, which made him panic slightly. Because he was supposed to be bonding with Soundwave.

However as the two of them go closer he found himself more reluctant to bond with the mech and began to dread their bonding more and more.

When they finally reached the tribe he was surprised by the warm welcome he recieved. Even with the threat of meeting his newly bonded he was relieved that the journey was over.

They led him to a large tent which he assumed was Soundwave's and told him to wait there. He sat down on the floor and wrapped the fur tighter around him as he waited.

When the guard entered he gave him a surprised look.

"What are you doing here?"

"There is something I have to tell you."

"What is it?"

His spark pounded in his chest and he wondered if he'd confess. The idea filled him with excitement and worry.

"I'm Soundwave. I decided to pick you up myself because I wanted to get to know you before we bonded."

He stared at him in shock as Soundwave pulled out the princes official seal.

"You're Soundwave?"

The mech nodded and he found himself sighing in relief. Soundwave wrapped his arms around him and the two looked at each other before he leaned closer and the two of them made out while wrapped in each other's arms.

Driftrod + no-war AU?

Hey, Space :D Well, this oughta be fun –

1. Since this is a No War AU, there cannot, y’know, be a war. So, the Functionists continue to be… the Functionists, A.K.A. robot fascist allegory, and they are, unfortunately, the puppeteers holding all the power in Cybertronian society. But they care about Cybertron, y’know? They want what’s best! And so all the usual concerns of government – taxes, unemployment, homelessness, etc. - all come under their purview. They are the only ones who know how to fix it all the Right Way.

Cue a two-birds-one-stone programme to tackle both homelessness and unemployment in one fell swoop: gathering up the homeless mecha of Cybertron like they were cattle and assigning them to work in the factories and foundries that this late stage capitalism economy. Indentured servitude? Slavery? No, no, these mecha are in need of jobs, and homes, and they are being provided for. Aren’t the Functionists doing well by Cybertron and its people?

2. So guess where Drift has ended up? That’s right: in a factory in Nyon. He hasn’t seen Gasket in years, they got separated when the enforcers raked through the Dead End with a comb and emptied it of all the undesirables. Some to the smelter, of course, but more to the employment programme.

Nyon’s an old city, full of rusty factories and foundries still chugging along. It was beautiful, once, and in some parts still is, but Drift lives in the compound on one of the factory sites, and he can’t leave. He has a roof over his head, and a steady source of fuel, but even though objectively he could be considered to be in a better position than he was before, it certainly doesn’t feel like it.

But he’s a survivor: he doesn’t want to die. So he keeps his head down and does his job, just one more cog in the great machine, another station on the assembly line, and takes each day as it comes.

3. But what of Hot Rod? Well, did you know that the skills required by Cybertronian veterinarians and Cybertronian doctors have a huge amount of overlap? It’s true! Systems are systems, and there’s less difference than you think between the fuel processing system in a turbo-hawk than there is in a mech. And, of course, it’s a lot, lot easier to be accepted into a veterinary school than it is into medical school – don’t have to be forged a medic, for one, or be of a high caste.

And Hot Rod wants to help people, all right? And this, it seemed to him when he had this incredible cheat-the-system idea, is the best way. He daylights as a vet in Nyon’s east quarter, and moonlights as a backstreet doctor. He’s well-known to the beast-former community, and from there other mecha in Nyon who just aren’t quite acceptable to the Functionists. They may or may not be a resistance movement lurking beneath the surface, but that’s neither here nor there.

4. Hot Rod and Drift first meet when a machinery accident – far too common – lands Drift in the factory’s medical wing, with the staff there taking one look at him and decrying even trying to salvage him. You would lose more resources saving him than you would get back by having him survive, they say, because that’s all Drift is: a resource. An expendable one. Take him to the scrap heap, they say, and Drift’s friends – for solidarity is the only light in this darkness – do. Still alive, but Drift’s hardly the first to meet this fate. But these are his friends, and there must be another way.

One of them is a beast-former, one of the Nyonic workers who gets to leave the factory grounds at the end of the working day, and he knows somebody who knows somebody who might be able to help Drift. And besides, the factory’s scrap heap gets taken out to the general dump once a week, and if Drift – now in stasis-lock – survives that long, then he’s home clear should this friend manage to get to him in time.

5. Drift wakes up on the sofa of Hot Rod’s apartment. He’s doing a lot better than he was – not that that’s hard – and as far as anyone else is concerned, he’s dead. He’s managed to fake his own death while being totally unconscious for practically all of it. He’s… free.

Hot Rod, meanwhile, now has a handsome mech who he’s helping get back on his feet hidden in his apartment. Guy’s gonna probably have to get a new name and paint job to fully sever himself from his old life and the threat that still lingers there, but – he’s here, he’s alive, and that makes all that stress and work worth it. This is great, this is what Hot Rod wants to do more of, and Drift can now get out of Nyon and leave all this misery behind him –

“So, how do I help?” Drift asks, and that’s the question that changes the course of Cybertron’s history.

It's a Beauty and the Beast AU for The Mechs that I accidentally started, and everyone is asking the same question. I'm working on a master doc but I am very prone to burn out + there's so much so the best I can do if give people my 200 page color coded doc of all the threads (possibly missing info and/or still has fluff)

Okay, so I did initially get the idea of BATB for IDW MegOP from coefore, but when I started thinking about it on my own (and with help from the MegOP discord server), I started forming some extra ideas and now it's just kind of a big thing that I may or may not turn into a future fic for real.

So this BATB AU is inspired by IDW1 specifically, with Megatron as Belle, Terminus as Belle's father, Optimus as the Beast, and either Tarn or Overlord as Gaston. Also with the outlier squad (plus maybe some other side charscters) as the servants-turned-household-items. Oh and they're mechs in this AU, not humanformers.

Megatron and Terminus are pretty self explanatory. Like Belle, Megatron is from a less privileged background and an environment where his passion for intellectualism and literature makes him not fit in; meanwhile, Terminus is Megatron's father figure in all but name.

Meanwhile OP is the Beast because in general content of OP being beastly is hard to find haha and I think he's just more interesting that way. Him coming from a privileged class in IDW1 canon translates well to him being a noble in a BATB. But I don't think he would have been cruel to his servants and turned into a beast because of that. Since I'm taking elements from IDW1, I like to imagine that Optimus was actually kind to his servants and still ended up doing some sort of canon-style storming of the Senate, except this time he was severely punished for stepping out of line and turned into a beastformer. Because what better way to punish Optimus (or Orion I guess?) for sympathizing with the oppressed class than by turning him into one? I don't think it would be a magical thing, but maybe some specific asshole like Proteus or even Zeta giving the order for OP to be forcibly reformatted. (More lore on that will be shown if/when I actually write this as a fic.)

I'm still uncertain on certain elements of OP's design, but basically he has an anthro root mode and a beast alt mode, so that no matter what it's obvious he's part animal. Anyways, I guess maybe OP can't leave his mansion or w/e because he's been exiled there away from Iacon (they can't kill him because I guess there's some feudal type law that you can't kill the noble-born or something).

So him and Megatron meet and it's a nice companionship (rocky start aside) because Megatron gets someone who respects his passions and who he is as a person, while Optimus gets someone to tell him that him being a beast doesn't make him any less of a person, and he can still do good for Cybertron if he stops being ashamed and embraces this form.

Anyways that's about all for the general idea. I wasn't thinking of making this a hugely sprawling AU or anything, more just "BATB adapted to IDW1" and maybe ending it with "and they lived happily ever after as activists on Cybertron" or something. :D

Hrnn, I just watched @emperor-kumquat ‘s Prime critic and dang so I wanna think about a rewrite au…

But hnngh I can’t write plots, especially not long lasting plots…

Ficlets? Don’t promise anything you can’t do Dot jeez-!

I suppose I can get these thoughts down at least, even if all I do with them is publish scattered information.

I would say that I am far from an expert in Transformers media, even if I was exposed to not one, not two, but three whole different interpretations of the show (those being TFA, Bayverse and Beast Machines, the later of which curtesy of DVD rentals lmao). In fact, I only started watching TFP like… between this year and last, so there’s a lot of gaps in my knowledge.

So, I suppose what I’m saying here is that I can’t entirely solve the missing mecha problem, not without giving an excuse that’s probably kinda bad.

Instead, I’ll just be thinking of the bots who happen to be in the show. Creative liberties are taken here and there, like with the dead-on-first-watch characters like Makeshift and Skyquake, maybe even Cliffjumper. Heck, I could probably think of things for Tailgate and Seaspray (but maybe not… again, I don’t have a lot of context to have them on the mind).

Hmm, now let’s see. The ‘Cons previously on Earth are immediately apart of the ranks, so Knock Out and Breakdown don’t get to have their honeymoon gallivanting around Earth without reporting daily, no more ‘legend’ Skyquake playing sleeping beauty only to get slaughtered after waking up from true loves first knife, and dear old main-character-of-exile Makeshift doesn’t just go kablooey after a tussle with the mech Wheeljack for crimes of identity theft.

This does not guarantee survival, by the way, even if these thoughts are coming from me, a notorious ‘[x character] lives au’ lover. It’s just that if these lads do happen to get offed, you’d know who they are and damn, the consequences WILL come back to bite ass ESPECIALLY in slicing Skyquake.

The brothers could very well still be separated, perhaps because Skyquake DID get sent to Earth before the rest of the Cons. But! Instead of feeding the poor lad a poison apple and hoping for the best some prince will come, it’s akin to ‘Bumblebee’ (I do see the irony).

Decepticons, whether by order or by volunteering, were sent to investigate planets with rich energon sources, or in some cases to introduce energon to the planet so that it becomes rich in fuel (TFA had energon farms, so I’m assuming mecha know how to cultivate it). Of course, they’re not alone and all that, they’re sent in a fleet or what have you to better scout and possibly defend themselves.

And if ever primary Decepticon warships (not just the Nemesis because having one ship is a death sentence waiting to happen) ever make it to one of these… let’s call them ‘Guardian Planets’, the troops get absorbed into that specific ship.

So, yada yada, Skyquake volunteered, yada yada, got sent with a fleet, yada yada, Dreadwing may or may not know. One way or another, the brothers are still split, and being in a war spreading galaxies wide is not great for communicating. Especially since… hmm was it 6 years before the show, there was at the very an end of a war, so Skyquake has been battling on Earth for a bit.

As an established soldier on the Nemesis, he had employed his knowledge of Earth’s energon hotspots, and even locations pivotal for energon farms, and helped the ‘Cons establish a whole mining network. Certainly helps explain how the Decepticons managed to accrue their substantial number of mines, enough to the point where blowing one up doesn’t bat an optic.

Probably at Megatron’s suggestion to fuck off and find other warriors, Skyquake offered to assist in his quest because, haha he could find the planets most likely occupied by either Decepticons or more energon, and better yet find the fleets or even established armies across the galaxy to regroup the Cons.

But NOOOOOO! This is MEGATRON’S business! This is HIS time to shine, and shine he does when he plans to scour the galaxy not for capable warriors, but for an urban legend (regardless that it’s true) of corpse reviving, Unicron spawned Dark Energon. His master plan? MAKE THE DECEPTICONS STRONGER WITH THE POWER OF DEAD MECHA!

Skyquake was heavily disappointed, and Megan takes an 8ft vertical leap off of the podium the Seeker once held him on. Woop-!

And none of this ‘legend’ bs, as much as I like to take it and run to make a funny joke that Skyke don’t know humans. Makes the Decepticons feel forgetful.

Speaking of forgetful, look at Makeshift. He didn’t even get the dignity of dying as himself, but an imitation of the mech directly responsible for his death. Like, jeez, give the shifter some slack.

An odd thing to bring up, but in my SG ramblings that kicked this blog off, I had toyed with the idea of Soundwave and Makeshift being buddy-cop-duo but for espionage and data gathering. Yes I’m bringing this up because EK happened to mention it, and no I didn’t get inspired. It’s probably just the logical conclusion that anyone can find if you think on it a bit, and I thought about it from a completely different origin than Kumquat.

But getting back on track, having Makeshift have a more vital role in this… rewrite au by coming across as one of the many vehicon and eradicon soldiers, and even perhaps as a ‘weak’ and ‘defenceless’ minercon is just such a cool idea. This lad is tough to kill not because he’s strong and powerful, but because he knows all about you when you know nothing about him.

Also, the fact that his loyalty to Starscream was brought up by EK could also introduce an interesting dynamic between him, Sounders and Screamer. Like, he’s getting a lot of surveillance and info Soundwave can’t get himself or Third in Command his way through, Soundwave is trying to stop the traitorous Seeker at the source, and Starscream’s unaware of all the effort Makeshift takes to keep Soundwave off his aft and keep the Comms Officer’s good faith.

Oh, and having brought up what made this blog exist, one of the things I noticed, thanks to my previous exploits of Shattered Glass ramblings, is that even though the Con playlist is small initially, if you had them all still… breathing’s not the right term, and pitted them against all the alive Bots? Welp, there’s a bit of an imbalance.

Oh! Oh! And I know how to fix that imbalance haha!

Breakdown redemption baby!

ANYWHO! Breakdown gets to have character development that actually pays off! I am definitely bitter at the lack of it, I will say, and I certainly admit to it. Again, I can’t think well for plots, especially ones that are so canon divergent that it’s just an entirely knew TFP inspired story, but having a fully, completely loyal mech realise that the sworn leader he pledged his allegiance to sees him as NOTHING?

The opportunities are priceless. Oh and the opportunities I have in mind-!

None all too specific in mind, I do like the suggestion in Emperor’s video about Starscream running into Breakdown and him cashing in the favour because yada yada, his opinions on Megatron have significantly dropped and it’s hard to be super loyal to someone who would rather a) leave you to be dissected by grubby little human hands way too interested in getting them all over your innards, b) have you wear a mark of your experience as punishment, and c) force you to prove you’re worthy of staying alive instead of just taking the time to bust you out in the first place.

With the help of Breakdown, all vehicon lives matter and the poor lads guarding the energon get to be free of ‘Decepticons Are Killing Each Other’ Syndrome. Smuggled energon here, dramatic shift in loyalty there, and let’s bring in Makeshift to see this all happening (maybe one of the guards-!) and having to try REAL hard to get Soundwave to not notice, especially with Orion typing about freeing the Spymaster’s servos.

And a little thinky thought just punctured my brain, and that’s about Makeshift’s status of being alive. Prime in of itself has a bad case of the ‘Death is Edgy so I’m Gonna Use it as the Only Option Every Time’les so, aside from Cliffy boy, the named Decepticon deaths up until Dreadwing (yes, because Breakdown’s death sucked, and as much as Drwing’s did too it at least had some vague arc to lead to it) were unimportant.

But here? Oh I do so have an idea.

Soundwave is a persistent little mech, and in tandem with Lazerbeak, together they form a team not even Makeshift can come between. And no one hides for long under Soundwave’s gaze, especially if something suspect is going on. So he plays a good little role as observer, and notices how Makeshift bias makes an appearance in his actions.

Of course, being an experienced spy, he’s been long since trained to leave no trails, and in this case, Makeshift has done wonders masking his… ‘incompetence’ in outing Starscream’s dirty little secrets that even Sounders can’t weed out. Oh, but Soundwave knows something is happening beyond the barriers of his reach, from between the shadows he can’t record and the secret tongue he can’t speak.

He doesn’t act until Makeshift acts, and in doing so, Soundwave reveals that the shifter was not his closest ally, but his naive enemy, thinking those secrets that Makeshift kept between in him and the SiC weren’t clear as day.

Yada yada, Makeshift is killed after explicitly and being forced to announce to pledging his allegiance to Starscream over Megatron, Starscream gets ‘humbled’ and kept around because ‘being taught a lesson’ and also a very useful mech to have, and Breakdown is getting antsy because woop, if Makeshift got caught willingly serving for Starscream and was forced to tell, what hopes does Breakdown have at living at all.

cue panicked spark talk with sweet beloved knock out about how much he’s fragged up and how they gotta fucking leave because they’re next-!

Skyquake may still end up being killed, because Dreadwing may need that extra motivation here and there to further cement his position as a Con only to take it away when the reveal of Dark Energon is made. Especially if he realises that Megan actively refused Skyquake’s assistance in seeking actual living mecha, and robbing the brothers a chance to see each other in life again.

And also, if Bumblebee is the one to take Skyquake’s life, they should’ve made it a bigger deal. It could’ve made the attempt to blur the lines between good and evil and something something war is just two sides fighting for what they believe is right, and yada yada, war is an inglorious act of mass murder and all those themes that definitely wouldn’t have made it on prime time tv, but can certainly in the minds and hearts of thinking to yourself alone in a room and publishing those thoughts on the internet.

Dreadwing shouldn’t just react to the desecration of dead mechs, Skyquake can still become a terrorcon because that just further cements the idea on how fragged Megan and all who use Unicron’s influence for get-out-of-jail free cards, but also to the Primus damned murderer that killed his split-spark twin.

If he doesn’t get blasted through the spark like a rip off of Bon Jovi, he could probably go neutral.

I can probably talk more, but I feel as though I’ve got a lot of my initial thoughts and ideas out. This is definitely a Decepticon focused post, as per usual, but I hope to get around to thinking about the Autobots.

Maybe I’ll run with the same theme about unkilling bots and taking their lives a bit later when we get to know them a bit more.

Megarod Au where Hot Rod is a predacon

Megatron is exploring the ruins of an ancient city that's rumoured to have fallen to a great predacon who is rumoured to be hiding in the ruins of the city. So Megatron is on a quest to find and try and tame the beast in hope it will be an advantage in the war.

So when he enters the lair of the sleeping beast he isn't expecting it to be well kept and full of trinkets that cover the floor and walls of the lair. In the middle of it all he is expecting a sleeping predacon who will lunge at him the moment it senses his presence in its territory. He didn't except to see a sleeping bot wrapped in old blankets and rags unaware of the intruder. Megatron stares in awe and confusion as he studies the stranger for a while unsure if he should wake them or simply leave however thanks to his clumsy peds he knocks over some of the trinkets. That seems to stir the stranger and he suddenly hears the sound of a T-Cog becoming active and the sound of plating shifting before being pinned to the ground by a large talon.

Hot Rod doesn't like visitors and he fully intends to make this large grey bot pay for trespassing. Such a shame the big grey tank is rather handsome, He might even let him live if he feeling nice.

He walked along the streets of Nyon. The ruins were supposedly haunted and if you're not careful the dead of Nyon will make you suffer the same fate. Keeping you trapped behind the cities walls to forever haunt it's broken streets.

There were all sorts of rumors about this place. Some people believe that it was destroyed by a fire while others believe it was a predacon.

Some believe the predacon still lives there to this day and that the rumors of Nyon taking more lives is actually the predacon.

He didn't know how accurate these rumors were. But with the war at an all time high and the Autobots gaining ground he needed all the help he could get even mythological. Which is how he found himself searching through the ruins of Nyon for any sign of a predacon in the hopes he's able to tame him.

So far he hasn't seen any sign of life. Which was strange with how long the ruins have been here. You'd think it would have been taken by nature by now. But everything seemed exactly the same as the day it was destroyed.

Looking around he didn't see any sign of the predacon. From the legends he's picked up it seemed people believed the beast lived in the mountains around Nyon.

He looked upwards trying to see if he could spot smoke or something. Scaling those mountains looking for any large caves would take time. Something he didn't have. Not with Optimus and his army gaining more land everyday.

Climbing the mountain side. He began to see signs of fire damage. He followed it gasping in shock when he saw large claw marks on the metal.

He was obviously on the right track and he followed the trail until he was led to a large cave. Weapons at the ready he slowly entered the lair.

He was expecting it to be a smelly cave with a pile of bones inside and nothing else.

Only to be surprised at how nice it was. Their were trinkets all over and he took a step forward admiring the place. It seemed warm and cozy in a way he wasn't expecting.

When he walked deeper into the predacons lair he was surprised to find a nice comfortable nest, that was well padded. With lots of blankets and pillows.

Walking closer he froze realizing someone was inside. Except it wasn't the predacon he'd been expecting. He stared at the strange mech in shock. He was beautiful with a mix of red, yellow, and orange paint. He looked tiny in comparison to the nest he was in and he looked around for the predacon.

He must have left and when he'd get back he'd probably eat the mech as a snack. He shivered debating if he should get him out of there before the predacon came back.

He knew if the predacon came back and realized his meal was gone. It would be harder to tame him but he also couldn't just leave an innocent mech get eaten by the beast.

Deciding to help he took a step forward only to stumble on some jewels. He looked up watching as the mech awoke. He found himself slightly relieved because it meant he didn't have to carry him out. That was until he heard the sound of transformation sequence and then he was being trapped by a large claw. As the predacon stared down at him. He froze in fear.

When he tried to move the predacon roared in anger. Clearly unhappy that he woke him from his nap.

He didn't know what to say. Although the beast had just transformed from a mech. He didn't know how intelligent he was which complicated things.

This wasn't what he'd been expecting and he found himself caught off guard. He was expecting a mindless beast, that he'd tame with his might. Not whatever this was.

Hot Rod stared down at the stranger. Flicking his wings behind him. He knew he was there the entire time and was annoyed that he dared to enter his lair without his permission

If he'd found anyone this last mating cycle he would have put his eggs at risk. Luckily for him he didn't have any eggs and the mech seemed handsome. It would be a shame to kill him although he was going to be taught a valuable lesson about why no one should ever mess with him.
