Creature Awaits #182
Each week I plan to feature an amazing creature, admiring God's fantastic artistry. Hopefully it’ll brighten someone’s day to see something new and interesting if they haven’t seen it before. : )

The Flame Skimmer
Scientific Name: Libellula saturata
Region: Southwestern United States (preferably near small bodies of water such as ponds or hot springs)
Size: Between 2"-3" (~5cm-7.6cm) long
Interesting Notes: Though similar in color to other red-orange dragonflies, such as the Autumn Meadowhawk (Sympetrum vicinum), the Flame Skimmer appears even brighter as even its head and veins are a brilliant vermilion hue.

I must be blessed today. I saw this beautiful dragonfly, and I walked right up to it and took this photo. I then extended my hand and touched its foot. The foot stayed on my hand for a second or two before it moved away. The dragonfly just stood there. I've never touched one before!!! To me, this is very exciting, indeed!!! It was a charming experience! 😍💙🩵💙 what an enchanting little being!!! 😊 it was a magical moment for me ✨️
