Elseworlds Addendum - Beast Boy

As a young child, Garfield Logan lived with his scientist parents in a remote region somewhere in Western Africa.  His parents had been working on a process they called ‘reverse evolution’ with which they hoped to bring back extinct animals. During this time Garfield contracted a rare illness called Sakutia, which is lethal to every species except the West African green monkey.

In a desperate effort save his son’s life, Garfield’s father used an untested scientific process to transform Garfield into a green monkey for 24 hours so that the virus could die out. Remarkably, the gambit succeeded and Garfield survived; yet there proved an unforeseen side effect. The youngster's hair and skin turned green and he was somehow bestowed the ability transform himself into the form of any animal of his choosing.

Garfield’s parents later died in a boating accident where upon the youngster was put in the care of an unscrupulous guardian named Nicholas Galtry. Galtry sought to use Garfield’s powers to help him commit crimes.  The plot was thwarted by The Doom Patrol and young Garfield was ultimately adopted by the Doom Patrol members Elasti-Girl and her husband Mento.  Garfield would go on to become a member of The Doom Patrol, taking on the alias of ‘Beast Boy.’ 

Following the apparent death of his adopted mother, Garfield temporarily retired from super heroics and used his powers to act in science fiction movies and television shows.  Finding the work unsatisfying, he joined up with the West Coast iteration of The Teen Titans; and was later recruited into Raven's New Teen Titans squad.  At this time, Garfield changed his superhero alias from Beast Boy to Changeling (although he was later resume his original codename). 

The shapeshifting hero first appeared in the pages of Doom Patrol Vol. 1 #99 (1965).

Let me introduce you to Ceri the birdman; a beast changeling suriving on the streets and running from the reality of his past.

Vanishing in 1985, Ceri spent 15 or so years in Arcadia before finally snapping out of the fog that had been placed in his mind and escaping through the hedge away from his Keeeper, The Countess. It appeared that for years he was kept as some sort of mockery of a falcon, molded into a twisted parody of man and bird.

Ceri was kept close to hunt for his masters pleasure as he was kept with many others in his condition, few would ever regain their old identity and as far as Ceri knows he's the only recent escapee.

His mind is very much still broken, with beast-like habits and impulsive thoughts running his life between the moments of clarity.

Living dangerous is all apart of the thrill for Ceri the changeling, mischievous and prone to violent outbursts he rejects ever returning to his old life, after all. Who would want an unstable monster of man who's eaten people?
