So I've been thinking a lot about the tally

I think it's safe to assume that these numbers cover only their 3 years of high school - Hinata says later on that he hasn't counted his beach volleyball games yet. Meaning, they got into roughly ~2200 competitions over the course of three years, though not all of them were volleyball games (they also compete in races, and other silly things like who can eat faster and etc.)

(It's a little unclear whether the tally only accounts for wins when they're competing against each other, though - I'll assume that's the case since it'd be kinda unfair otherwise lol)

BUT. Here comes the interesting part. This is their updated tally, as of 2022 (the All-Stars special match):

According to the Haikyuu wiki, the Black Jackals vs. Schweiden Adlers game happened in November 2018. The All-stars match happened in August 2022. That's about 45 months later - meaning, they got into another 1852 competitions in the span of almost four years.

But, but.... before, during high school, these morons saw each other almost every single day. They competed on almost EVERYTHING, and averaged a total of 2 competitions per day.

Now, though- they lived in different cities during Hinata's first year in the V.League, and after that Kageyama moved to Italy. As of 2022, Hinata is back in Brazil playing for Asas São Paulo. Meaning, for the better part of these last 4 years, these two weren't even in the same country.

And yet they kept the tally going, counting almost religiously. So that's 1852 competitions over 45 months - average of 1,37 competitions per day. Meaning, on average, Hinata and Kageyama must've talked to each other at least once a day, for four years, to update their tally.

TL;DR they probably talk to each other regularly and that makes me so happy. Even though they're not in the same team (or even the same country) they still keep thinking about each other every. single. day.

Verdict concerning urinating at the beach of the Baltic Sea

A man emptied his bladder in the protection of the dark and was confronted by watchful upholders of law and order. The case went to court - and the judges felt challenged to show their craft.

It is one of the advantages of nature that your view of the magnificent landscape is not obstructed by an outside toilet. That's why you simply have no choice but to pee outdoors every now and then. Under the cover of a bush, tree, hill or even the night, an unproblematic affair that should not upset anyone.

Something like that may have gone through the thoughts of the wild wee'er who removed himself about twenty meters from his friends gathered on the Baltic Sea beach in a summer night of July 2022 and urinated protected by the darkness – the act was committed around 00:36 – with his back facing the beach towards the water. Children building sand castles or girls playing volleyball were not active at this time. Nor was the beach frequented by walkers. However, law enforcement officers of the city of Lübeck armed with flashlights patrolled the beach, who confronted the perpetrator – but only after he had emptied his bladder, order must prevail. The man was supposed to pay sixty euros for the administrative offense of "annoyance of the general public by a grossly indecent action", which the man refused to pay. The case went to the district court of Lübeck.

Among other things, the question whether the wild wee'er had violated the public sense of shame was on the table. The court found: no. The person concerned had entrusted himself to the protection of the darkness and did not have to expect to be suddenly illuminated with flashlights and to be approached in a targeted manner. It has to be redounded to the district court's credit that it has also kept an eye on the geographical peculiarities. "The fact that there were no other ways to retreat behind landscape features at the drift line of the Baltic Sea, unlike in mountains and at forest edges, except to turn away, cannot be stacked against the person concerned. That's how it is at the coast."

Yes, that's the way it is at the coast. Continue in the court text, on to the next setback for the Hanseatic city of Lübeck. According to the district court, no discommoding pollution or impairment by odor had occurred. The Baltic Sea is not a puddle, the wild wee'er had determined correctly. The court has researched that it contains "an amount of 21,631 cubic kilometers of brackish water. The degree of dilution would be so high that even in the event of a repeat or imitation a discommoding pollution or impairment by odor is impossible."

Finally, the district court comes to the beautiful, almost poetically formulated judgment that under the vastness of the firmament, man has no less rights than the deer in the forest, the rabbit in the field or the seal at the drift line of the Baltic Sea. And since, in case of doubt, we are sometimes deer, rabbits or seals, depending on the region, the state treasury has to bear the costs of the legal proceedings and the expenses of the person concerned.

Natasha was back, and in all the excitement of hanging out with his friends after work, Bradley accidentally slipped that he was headed to the beach.

That led to the entire dagger squad tagging along. He asked Nisha about this. When she said she didn’t mind, and that she is actually excited to meet his friends, he readied himself for the much-needed outing.

He knew Nisha to be reserved, and he knew the dagger squad who would jump at the opportunity to pull his leg. Harvard and Yale challenged everyone to an intense volleyball game on California's shores as Bradley and Reuben played referee.

The sun was over their heads, a cool ocean breeze blew their hair, and a smile was plastered on all their faces. This was as they passed the ball around. It looked like a scene from a summer flick. All they needed was a pop-rock song playing in the background.

He tried to focus on the game and was met by Harvard pausing mid-game and gawking at something just behind him. Bradley then nudged Halo who was on his side to look.

He turned on his seat just in time to hear Halo say, "Uh, guys, a total babe is approaching our way.”

In his view, Nisha was the only person approaching them.

She wore a simple beach outfit, a white tank top, and an ankle-length skirt in deep blue.

And Halo was right, she looked gorgeous without extravagance.

Bradley rose to his feet and greeted her. She smiled blindingly, as she looked behind his shoulder towards his crew. They had all stopped the game and looked at them with rapt attention.

"Hey," he said, unknowingly fumbling with his hands, "You look great." He smiled.

Her brows were raised as she admired his khaki shorts and T-shirt. "Thank you," she said, laughing, "you look great too".

“Stop with the sarcasm.” He deadpanned.

“What? This look has been your trademark since the 90s.”

“haha.” He smiles, “Come on, meet the crew.”

Bradley introduced her to the infamous Dagger Squad.

She heard their stories from Erin. The group of insanely hot elite naval pilots that hang around on The Hard Deck all the time. It had only been minutes meeting them, but they had already made her feel so welcome and happy, she felt like exchanging stories with old friends.

The crew settled down in the empty parking lot next to the beach after finishing their match.

Natasha and Jake leaned on her bike as he hugged her waist, Callie, Bob, Mickey, and Reuben fought for a place on her beach towel, all while Billy, Logan, and Brigham watched as chaos ensued, Neil opting to record this on his phone.

Bradley leaned quietly next to her on his Bronco bonnet, laughing now and then watching his friends goof around.

Nisha cheered as Callie was successful in getting rid of Reuben and Mickey and letting only Bob sit with her.

“Bagchi, please tell me he has been through an EMO phase,” Mickey asked, pointing at Bradley as she looked at him.

Bradley stared at Nisha as she smiled softly, “No, he didn't."

And then Bradley’s face dropped when he saw her smirking, "but he did undergo a rock phase so…”

Laughter filled the air as Bradley ducked his head and nudged her shoulder playfully.

Nisha remembers clear as a day, 15 and 16 respectively, lying on his bedroom floor as he introduced her to Guns N’ Roses.

“Guns N’ Roses?” Mickey looks at Bradley.

“O… o, o, o, sweet child of mine…” Harvard, Yale, and Fritz broke into a pitchy version of the song right then and there.

“O… o, o, o, sweet love of mine…” The others joined in just after.

And soon enough, the iconic opening riff to the 80s hit blared through Mickey’s portable speaker, and a dance broke out.

Her hand slipped into Bradley's grasp, and he pulled her forward. Walking out, he smirks, "Come on!"

Bradley dragged her towards his friends and held her hand, slowly swaying to the beat. Eventually, as the temperature rose, the gentle swaying turned into jumping and enjoying it. It was impossible for Nisha to realize when her hair came loose from her hairband, as she was lost in the music, the familiar beats of her youth, and the thrill of dancing with new people. Like she was back in the 2000s, living life in the present without caring about anything else.

As much as she missed this version of herself, she was glad to know that this version of her was still alive after all that had happened.

Bradley turned onto her street at nine.

She laughed, telling some silly story about one of her students who thought it would be a genius to base his physics theoretical paper on Star Wars.

“…and of course, I gave him a piece of my mind, but his research was thorough. Like, really thorough. He somehow managed to explain hypothetical light-year travel with a spacecraft solely based on The Empire Strikes Back.”

“So what did you do?” Bradley asked, slowing down the car.

“I gave him an A. And wrote a recommendation letter for his NASA internship. He was one of my first students. Absolute genius.” She looked out the window.

"I cannot remember the last time I felt so... free," she exhales deeply. This is what I missed, living in the moment and not worrying about tomorrow. Even if it was only for a day, it was nice.” She smiled.

Bradley looked into her eyes. He found a glint in them; the same one she would have when telling him about the latest comic or the book she had read. He would sit for hours and listen to her talk. He loved her voice and the way she told the stories.

Nisha got out of the car, and Bradley came around. The cool evening wind blew around the neighborhood, indicating a storm was coming in soon.

“So,” he breathed out, looking at her trying not to smile.

“So…” she asked with raised eyebrows.

“When will you be free again? ”

Nisha laughed, "Maybe this Sunday but I’m not sure.”

“Okay then, I’ll pick you up at 6.” He smiled.

She looked to the side, trying not to smile. “Okay.”

Nisha extended her hand and shook his, looking at how the wind blew his hair. She stepped closer and brushed some hair away from his face with her other hand.

Bradley froze at his place. The feel of her warm fingers running through his hair made his heart skip a beat.

He held on to her hand for a while.

She glanced at how his hands had engulfed hers fully. Her hands were cold as ice, but he didn’t let go. His heart pounded as she looked him in the eye, slowly closing the distance between them, their chests almost touching. Bradley’s eyes remained fixed on hers for a second, and he saw how they were moistened, tears filling the void in her eyes.

“Hey,” he whispered, gently caressing her face, wiping a stray tear tumbling down her cheeks, “what happened?”

Nisha let out a breath. Her head tilted to one side, and her eyebrows winched. It was as if she remembered something, and her entire body froze.

She jerked back, almost stumbling on the lawn.

“Nisha,” Bradley stepped forward to grab her arm but she stopped him. “Don’t.”

He stood there looking at her, his arms extended to catch her if she falls.

“…just don’t Bradley.” Nisha sniffled, tears falling freely down her face.

Nisha left him standing on the sidewalk as she ran toward the front porch.

The sight of her running away from him broke Bradley's heart. Something big hurt her, and she has yet to recover from it.

“heyyyy” Erin ran to the living room, all ready to hear about her date with Bradley.

But instead, he found her sobbing at the front door.

“Oh honey,” Nisha looked at him as she closed the door, and broke down. She walked up to him and hugged him close.

“I… Erin, he…” She broke down, and Erin struggled to keep her up.

“Nisha, Nisha looks at me,” Erin panicked as he tried to reason with her, who was shaking her head and crying badly. He held her shoulders and faced her, “He isn’t Dhruv.”

Nisha broke down further listening to that name after so long.

Erin began, rubbing her back to calm her down, “He won’t…”

Nisha didn't have the sense to listen to him. Then she squeezed her friend even tighter and cried even harder.

I just wanted to say how much I LOVED your “HedgeHog Day” fic, and ask a few questions!!! I know it’s inspired by Groundhog Day, but did you pull inspiration from anywhere else? What made you decide what events happened in the loop? (I.E. Amy getting hit with the ball, sonic tripping on the cooler etc.)

Where did you get the idea to add the loop titles for each chapter, observation loop # for instance, and was there any loops you thought to add but didn’t?

This goes hand in hand with the other question but was there any unused ideas or cut stuff for the fic?

Ah thank you thank you <3 I'm always glad to hear that someone liked my work! (Sorry for the delay, was visiting my partner.) 1) I've never actually seen Groundhog day - I just know the main kind of plot devices. Other than the general tropes of a beach episode, I don't think there was any specific inspo. 2) I wrote the first chapter as if it was a normal fic, and picked out my 'consistent details' from those events. I wanted things that could be easily altered slightly each time to reveal additional detail. The cooler for example - the note on the side is there in loop 1, but Shadow doesn't notice it until later. There is a flow chart for all of this. I had to draw it out to untangle my thoughts on the event order. Amy getting hit with the ball was actually the first idea I had for this fic - all the way back in December of 2022! 3) ehehee.... while I was posting each chapter. I don't title my chapters in my drafts, and I figured it would be fun to title the chapters like Shadow might, if he was capable of writing things down. Very impersonal, very rigid and uniform to keep track of everything, except for the first few where he doesn't know what's happening yet, of course. 4) I could have added more loops for sure - but I don't think it would have added much. I know I cut a volleyball game with sonic, tails, Amy and Shadow, but I don't think much else was fully removed.

theo x female reader. 530 words. not proofread. takes place in the past, around 10th grade.

summer break was officially over.

the beach, being able to wake up late everyday (a consequence of going to bed late, which could’ve been either because of a party or a friends night out), going on vacation, free time for yourself, not having to worry about studying. no more of this for another long, tiring nine months.

you hated to admit it, but despite having probably one of the best summers in your life, you missed school. you missed your classmates. you missed waiting in line for minutes only to buy a box of chocolate milk. you missed all the funny trips organized by the school, especially the ones organized by your sports teacher. you even went to japan once to play volleyball against a school of kyoto (you lost. miserably). you missed killing your evenings in detention because you accidentally (not really) started a food war against huh yunjin in the cafeteria, or because you kept arriving late to class.

but most of all, you missed your best friend, theo.

so it broke your heart as he passed you through the hallways as you flashed him a smile, ready to hug him and tell him about everything that happened during the time you didn’t see each other.

at first you thought he just didn’t see you, but during the day he would always find excuses to ignore you and, overall, pretend you didn’t exist at all.

“theo, what’s wrong?” all classes were finally over, and you were walking home. theo was just a few steps forward from you. usually, you’d go home together, but today it was the first time he didn’t wait for you outside the school gates. instead, he went directly without even glancing back when you kept calling and chasing after him.

“did i do anything wrong, theo?”

he finally stopped in his tracks, causing you in almost bumping into his backpack.

“leave me alone, yn.” he didn’t even bother to look at you before he kept on going.

your stubborn self didn’t want to give up yet, so you stomped in front of him.

he sighed loudly, finally deciding it was enough form his side to just pretend you weren’t there.

“what is it, yn.”

“what is it?” you scoffed. “why have you been ignoring me all day, theo? did i do something bad? did i insulted you? is it because i didn’t wait for you this morning? please tell me, cause it’s eating me alive.”

he simply shrugged his shoulders.

“i don’t wanna be your friend anymore.”

you raised a brow. “what?” you were more than confused. what was this attitude coming from?

“i don’t like you anymore like i thought i did, yn. so please, leave me alone. i don’t need you to pester me all day long. school is already tiring enough.” and with that, he left.

you couldn’t believe what you just heard.

was he really giving up fifteen years of friendship like that?

you quickly wiped the tears off your face as you realized people were staring at you. as soon as you got home, you went straight into your room, sinking into the pillow into loud and messy cries.

Dia: Ah, Ai-san, where have you been? Ai: Sorry, sorry~. One of the beach houses looked like they couldn't handle how crowded they were, so I was helping them out a little. Dia: Huh!? Ai: My family runs a monja shop, so I'm pretty used to handling customers~ Dia: No, that's not what I was surprised about... Ai-san, you really know how to make friends with anyone quickly. Ai: Ahaha, it is what I'm good at, after all~. Anyway, Dia, they gave me this okonomiyaki for helping them out! Let's share it~ Dia: Wow, all that seafood looks delicious! It’s not like he can go touch girls to find his soulmate. That will be uncomfortable for both parties.

As the first week of competition in cold Santiago came to a conclusion on Friday, the United States gold rush also ended, and Brazilians punched and spiked their way to Pan American Games gold. Beach volleyball is regarded as a national sport in Brazil, where the top-ranked men's and women's teams, Andre Stein and George Souto, and Patricia Ramos and Duda Lisboa, respectively, returned home with both titles after putting on impressive performances beneath the cloud-covered Andes mountains. Brazilian boxers, led by twice-world champion and Olympic silver medallist Beatriz Ferreira, were amassing 12 medals, including four gold, on the opposite side of the capital of Chile. Prior to losing to the United States two weeks earlier, Ramos and Lisboa were world champions in 2022. They were once again victorious, defeating Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson of Canada 2-0. In women's beach volleyball, the silver was Canada's first medal at a Pan American Games. The two teams, who included world winners, played at the high caliber anticipated in a close final (22–20, 22–18). After needing three sets to defeat Jorge Alayo and Noslen Diaz of Cuba, Andre Loyola and George Souto had to put in a little more time and effort into the chilly evening in order to clinch the golden double. Beach volleyball players Marco and Esteban Grimalt, two of Chile's most well-known athletes, were unable to hold onto the gold medal they won in Lima four years prior, but the cousins triumphed 2-1 over American players Logan Webber and Hagen Smith to win a bronze medal that thrilled the boisterous crowd waving flags. Olympic tickets were punched and thirteen gold medals were awarded on a hectic day in the boxing arena. With every fighter in the finals having guaranteed a quota position for the Olympics in Paris, winning a silver medal came with an added benefit. The first Brazilian woman to win gold was Ferreira, who defeated Colombia's Angie Paola Valdes Pana 5-0 to win the women's 60 kilogram title. On the other hand, the top three finishers were Jucielen Romeu (57 kg), Barbara Maria Dos Santos (66 kg), and Caroline Barbosa (50 kg). Cuba, a boxing powerhouse, only managed two gold medals; double Olympic champion Julio Cesar La Cruz won the men's 92kg final, while Arlen Lopez Cardona won the 80kg weight class. "Out of all the tournaments I've been to, I've been able to capture gold and I was missing Pan Ams," Thibeault stated. "Now missing the Olympics, but hopefully we're on the right path and that's what we're going to get." Emiliano Hernandez and Duilio Carrillo won the men's relay to help Mexico maintain their dominance in the modern pentathlon, taking home all five gold medals available in Chile. With 35 gold and 80 overall medals, such contribution helped propel Mexico into second position on the medal tally.
