Life updates:

1. I got a new job in Minnesota and am moving there in November!! No more 100+ days of 100F+ heat for me!!!! Living in a blue state again will be so nice!!!!!!!!

2. It'll be the same work (rehab engineering/assistive technology) but a pay bump and a position in a much bigger dept that is actually well supported rather than the One Man Army I've been down here

3. I got back on the Magnus Archives train and just finished 170 and let me tell you. I was neutral on Martin before this season but he has grown on me rapidly. Several of the unreality/depersonalization eps have hit me pretty hard but 170 almost literally knocked me the FUCK out it was So Good I am DESPERATE to finish this show

4. (also I continue with my string of "Blorbo who has special powers that set them apart from other people, but they're just A Guy, a guy who is kind of an apathetic dick at the start of the thing but grows to learn and love and trust people. Also they are autistic and ace" with Mr Jon Sims who I love very much) (following behind minato arisato and neku sakuraba and setsuna f seiei, my beloved children)

5. I unfortunately still have the anxiety (tm) and am incapable of writing short posts

6. I maybe will write a short BDTS oneshot in the near future to try and get back into the swing of fic things? Equally likely that I will write some tma angst. bc I haven't gone deep into the ao3 tag yet, but I have not yet seen any of what I see as some low-hanging fruit, which means I Have To Make It Myself

No, the hero trusts you, unquestioningly! He has no reason not to trust you (at the beginning of your communication)! But at the same time, the guy knows how to think and knows that somewhere you can lie for the sake of trying to escape.

He doesn’t punish you, at least with typical things like physical abuse. For him, a good punishment is one that makes sense.

For example, if you do not like touching, he will often hug you for some time.

In other matters, you touch and hug anyway if you don’t mind! He uses things that you do not like as punishment and he is unlikely to break you just like that.

Within reason, he won’t wantonly kill or do bad things. Only what you do not like, but at the same time is harmless without context.

He will not go to crime; you are too important a person in his life and losing even the slightest chance of your love because of your own pains and insults is pretty stupid

Maybe he’s acting like a bad hero, maybe even like the villain who imprisoned the princess in the castle, but you’ll be better off here; shouldn’t he have saved the maiden? Well, he saved!

#3 - excess baggage (1997) | okay hear me out, the movie isn't the best. but benicio del toro in a leading role as a lanky, misunderstood stud who doesn't want anyone getting hurt is a full MEAL of a role. the movie is filled with cute romance and funny moments where vincent roche cannot take anything seriously even if he is having a near death experience and that is so special to me. also alicia silverstone chose benicio herself and she was so right for that. the second she realized he was method and he punched her in the arm for real i bet she was regretting that decision LMAO.

#2 - sicario (2015) | not only is alejandro gillick that bitch, but the movie itself caught me so off guard when i first watched it that i sat there in a daze like... what the fuck did i just watch. i have a severe hatred for josh brolin (we've got once-sided beef, that man is in everything i love and he is good at what he does.), and emily blunt and daniel kaluuya sold the deal for me with their on screen friendship—the cast has me feral. and the story is gut-wrenching (no pun intended).

#1 - things we lost in the fire (2007) | again, hear me out. i am a sucker for romance, benicio's character jerry sunborne is trying his best, and i would sell my soul for halle berry. there's something about the fact that the story is based around the entire family realizing jerry is now their main connection to their recently deceased family member that i connect to a lot. and also idk if i have ever told the story about how me owning this movie on dvd is a total mystery and that it's the only bdt dvd i own—but that too.

now if we're talking characters, the good and the bad, that's a whole other ball game!
