Unpopular FMA opinion

Roy and Hughes didn't keep in contact after the academy. That's why Roy didn't know Hughes was in Ishval. Or his current rank. Or that he had gotten himself a girlfriend from Central.

Also Roy is not close to the Hughes family, and Hughes preferred it that way. We never see Roy interact with Gracia or Elicia. Not even at the funeral. Hughes doesn't introduce Roy to Gracia at the end of the OVA. All the people invited to Elicia's birthday look like civilians. Hughes keeps his work and private life strictly separated, so Roy was never going to be close to his family.
