on a.licent & her mother a.lyrie f.lorent.
as a little girl, alicent looked up to her mother fiercely, she was a devout woman of the faith of the seven & it's the reason why alicent clings so tightly onto her faith. her mother, however, had a dark secret of her own that she never told alicent directly: alyrie florent was half hightower & a skinchanger herself who was capable of taking the skin of the red foxes that were known to travel around their keep in the reach. when her septa found out about this "abomination", she was beaten bloody as a girl. alyrie's parents were informed of this & ever since her father had told her in his grief & outrage that alyrie must never think to use such savage abilities ever again & to remain loyal to the faith of the seven. alyrie reluctantly complied & never spoke a word of it to anyone ever again, only writing it down in the deepest pages of her diary. & so alyrie suppressed her abilities & her desire to learn the old ways of the first men even after she married otto hightower she never spoke a word to him or anyone ever again. though, sometimes, alicent would remember tears brimming with a flash of fear in her mother's eyes when they would pray at the starry sept of oldtown as a girl. alicent only ever found out the dark truth years later as an adult during the dance.
#ooc.#alicent hightower. || study.#bc remember the florents are a house from the first men ! & in our portrayal the first men are indigenous !#so when they mixed w/ the andals aka white people a lotta things happened. so hela gets her abilities from both the hightowers & florents !#& also skinchangers are canonically hunted down & killed south of the wall all throughout westeros.#yes alicent is white seeming indigenous in my portrayal#yes that applies 2 our portrayals of aemond & helaena too. not saying thats how yall have 2 portray yalls green kids but pls be respectful.#/ child abuse#/ intergenerational trauma#/ spiritual abuse#/ religious abuse#/ antinative racism
