Hai hai! can you plz show how you shade skin and hair?

helloo okay sorry if i took too long to answer this but i wanted to actually show how and i didn't have a lot of time last week!! so for rendering i use a very soft textured brush (2dN_Flat of this brush set) and well, i just drew a very quick weird looking L to act as the base for this since i didnt have any drawing that i could use for this so please ignore that ToT

i usually just start w the base and w a multiplying layer of orange for the blush

then i blend add a layer on top to render on top of everything just getting the blush across the face and start with the most prominent highlights (i use a lot of blush all the time but ik some people dont like that so just skip this stage if u want)

then i add some shade w a more brownish orange in these zones (i gotta say just using photo reference helps but if youre not too familiar w identifying these zones you can just grab an arcane screenshot and study it a bit lol (im no professional so sorry if something looks weird)

then keep on adding to these shadows and highlights til it looks okay, harden or soften these to get a softer or harder vibe i guess

correcting some stuff since working on the top layer its messy sometimes

it looks kinda weird but it was a quick example lol

... now for hair ill actually change to another drawing bc L's dark hair maybe its not the best to explain it

the same thing, start w the base and work on top of a new layer, i add the highlight first

then add a darker color above the highlight and then blend those in w the base color, add dark parts according the light and blend them w the base color again

add some more shadows and lighting to the general shape and then add details and strands of hair

its a bit of a rushed rendering but i hope it helps a bit!

teiko manager anon back ~ my juicy part 2 will disappoint bc guess what: we're skipping two years into the future. akashi never found out what happened, and by third year the gom were the epitome of cruelty. so reader picks a fight with them after meiko game, only to collapse out of stress after. they graduate, she follows kuroko to seirin and they train to defeat gom. but why is she so insecure and easily sad when gom is mentioned? they get their answer when they catch her overworking

Part 2

[Teiko!manager Headcanons]

remember how I said in part 1 how Akashi would find out sooner or later? this would normally be the case, but in this exception…

you came back to school pretty quickly and restored, only to be in shock when Akashi himself confronts you about where you’ve been… like hello? YOUR CRUSH?? is? talking? to you? about your wellbeing?

here’s the thing, Akashi can easily detect lies through body language because he has an extraordinary sense of kinetic vision and critical thinking, but he’s still a human, not to mention… a middle schooler, and he’s not a true mind reader as some teammates would wholeheartedly believe

still, after some easy sleuthing he easily drew out confessions from some teammates who badmouthed you, although every single one were some type of half-truths and inconsistent testimonies that didn’t really make sense in painting a big picture

instead of incorrectly assuming things, he wanted to hear what’s been going on from your own mouth (keep in mind, this is still Oreshi, the guy who’s still cordial and wants to confirm this with you out of respect)

when he asks you some questions, he doesn’t detect any physical signs of lying from you, which only makes him believe that there wasn’t anything wrong to begin with other than you being under the weather and the other teammates saying utter nonsense either out of fear in his presence or using you as a scapegoat to cover up other delinquencies that he may have yet to discover

“(l/n)-san, I take it that you’ve been resting well? I heard from Kuroko that you were absent due to the seasonal flu.”

“Ah, y-yes! I’ve actually gotten plenty of rest and proper meals, so I’m back on my feet quicker than expected.”

“I actually also wanted to ask you something, if you don’t mind?”

“What is it?”

“Has anything odd happening to you lately? Anyone who has given you trouble or has been uncooperative with you as head manager as of late?”

at the question, you only frown in genuine confusion before you answer no; you genuinely believed that these teammates weren’t in the wrong for “speaking their mind” and if anything, you felt like you were the problem in not being capable enough in managing your own job and your health in the process (despite being knowledgeable in health yourself)

because Akashi saw that you weren’t lying, he dropped it completely out of respect and asked you that if there was anything troubling you that you could reach out to him

oh how he was so, so close to finding out the truth

this wouldn’t be brought up ever again because you and Akashi only continued to grow busier and busier with your own duties; eventually, your fears came true when the Generation of Miracles had in fact “left” you behind when their talents blossomed too fast and left unchecked

honestly, you developed a horrible habit of overworking despite Kuroko’s and Kise’s constant checks on you

what do you know? of course the coaches and faculty members would ignore your opposition against putting the GoMs in every game; after all some of them had been quite dismissive of you already

it’s kind of ironic because if Bokukashi was the one interrogating you back then, he would’ve either easily (correctly) assume based off of the teammates’ testimonies alone, or he’d be a lot more insistent in discerning the truth of the situation and nipping it right in the bud to stop the “nonsense”

but at the same time, Bokukashi has a lot more pressing priorities than a few poor-attitude teammates when he has the entire reputation of Tekio’s legacy on his shoulders; anything pertaining to you never crossed his mind ever since his domineering side emerged

you were really excited for Kuroko since he was gushing about playing against his old friend, since his friend couldn’t make it to finals the first time // needless to say, you were also Kuroko’s mental support when he felt really down at that time

after Kuroko sustained an injury in the game before Meiko, you immediately accompanied him to the infirmary

there, Kuroko requests you to go watch the game and you only reluctantly agree because you wanted to see the game just to relay back to Kuroko just in case if he couldn’t make it, and you were still a manager with a job to fulfill; you’d figure leaving Momoi to watch over was sufficient enough

when you walk out the door though… you bump into Akashi, which is the first time in a while where you two were face-to-face like this; your heart sank when you realize that you had to accept the fact that he’s changed and allowed the distance to grow between you two

but a small part of denial makes you quickly turn and flee out the hallway, but you really begin to evaluate your crush on him as you scurry away; Akashi just stares at you for a moment before he enters into the infirmary where Kuroko is

you’ve distanced yourself from other people (GoMs in particular) in basketball out of denial of the fact you were really left behind (plus, you already dread attending to their games because it’s always a cruel reminder that you’re not working hard enough to achieve results of the same level), which is why reality slapped you in the face after the aftermath of the Meiko game… when you witnessed the full extent of their cruelty on the court

you were really hurt—in fact, you looked more distraught than the Meiko teammates themselves

especially, since the fact that Kise himself, who you thought of him as someone you can trust in, partook in this as well (this is actually your first time in seeing his cruel side in action, since he’s always been very sweet and helpful to you because he respects you)

you first confronted Kise when he was alone for a bit, sounding absolutely heartbroken and on the verge of tears; you shocked him out of his cold side and he immediately becomes a mother hen and asking if you needed water or a seat to calm down before you overexert yourself

after telling him your feelings about the game and your growing distance in the friendship, he sincerely apologizes for making you feel in such an awful way and tells you to let him know next time before a game, so that he wouldn’t suggest this type of entertainment for the game again.

you were in complete disbelief… the fact that your best friend suggested this himself? You dumbly asked for his reason, and he only says that you wouldn’t understand it because no one ever gives the GoM a proper challenge

even though he didn’t intend anything bad when he said this, it just made you feel worse, but you still accepted the apology to get it over with

the other GoMs come and you immediately become angry again and tension just skyrockets; Midorima simply looks away and says nothing, and Murasakibara and Aomine do most of the talking back/arguing… and Akashi only impassively stares at you

later, when Kuroko himself confronts them while everyone was walking in the hallway, you completely lagged behind on the group, tearfully staring at the backs of the GoMs and how you felt really alienated and unmotivated to continue being a manager for a team you don’t even recognize anymore

you grew dizzy again, and you knew your body was dealing with too much at once but you willed your body to at least last the trip

at least you gave a warning when you assumed that you were away from the GoMs at Teiko before you went unconscious; Kise happens to catch you before he brings you to the school infirmary

he does stay with you the entire time, knowing the reason for your collapse was all the extreme emotional and mental toll accumulated in such a short time; he feels absolutely guilty, and when you were about to stir awake, he simply leaves a lighthearted note and a cutely shaped bread before he leaves, knowing that you’d be stressed again if you saw him (around this time is when Kuroko confronts Akashi to quit the team, which is why he was nowhere near you at the time of your collapse/rest)

you felt better that at least Kise still sees you as a close friend when you see what he left behind

you still feel awful, to say the least

it felt wrong of you to quit mid-season, since you felt that you were simply giving up and further perpetuating the fact that you weren’t doing the most that you could

but you didn’t feel like staying for the rest of the season, so you decided to overwork yourself again to get the rest of the paperwork and training plans out of the way for the remainder of the games; you even left detailed instructions to Momoi in how to relieve certain pressure points and muscles for instant relief in case someone hurts themselves

a little timeskip where you decided to tag along Kuroko in attending Seirin High, but you were more reluctant in joining basketball again because you didn’t want to re-experience the stress and burdens in Teiko

well, until you made friends with Riko, and her story in how she was skeptical about basketball at first too inspires you to give it a try again

Kuroko feels really happy that you’re at ease again for the first time, but he definitely notices how you grow gloomy when the Seirin teammates praise the GoMs

you slowly relapse into the habit of overworking to “compensate” for your lack of contributions to Seirin’s team, but this time, every member DROPKICKS you to stop working and relax sometimes (Riko and Hyuuga are the main culprits)

even though you never tell them the reason for your poor habits, the Seirin team members just SENSE and KNOW what to say to make you feel like you’re doing more than enough to support the team in their own unique ways (Mitobe giving really cute shoulder pats and thumbs-ups… Koganei giving you slaps on the back and high-fives… Riko bluntly telling you to relax and giving you encouraging winks… Hyuuga being a roundabout in his praises… Teppei openly praising you… and Kagami telling you that you were doing too much LOL)

Kuroko gives you the SOFTEST SMILES (everyone freaks out every time he does that, it’s hilarious)

however, wounds slowly reopen more once again every time Seirin goes against schools that the respective GoM plays for

after every win Seirin achieves against the GoM’s respective school, each GoM would eventually learn a little tidbits here and there about your tendency to overwork and collapse and possible speculations of why, but you never confirm anything with them

even though you easily forgive Kise after the Seirin vs. Kaijo match (seeing how he interacted with Kagami and Kuroko in the park), for the others… you weren’t so ready to confront…

… particularly with Akashi

Hey thanks! I appreciate it!I’ve been sitting on this ask for a while bc I wanted to be through. Here’s a list of my fav comtemporary-ish illustrators (left to right)

Mary Blair- I love her colorful shapes and how chaotic/ balanced her townscapes/ landscapes are

Tim Biscup- his work also feels chaotic but balanced, It has a lot of energy and intensity.

Nacho Eterno- his work is so organized and consistent. I love those big chunky outlines.

Faustine D. R. Tarmasz- Her work is so tactile, and textured. It’s so different from my work.

Picasso- I like how he abstracts things almost to the point where you can’t recognize it. I love cubism in general.

Winston the Whale- His work feels somewhere between an icon and an illustration. It also has both an 80′s and 60′s vibe.

Bret Preston- Those shapes are amazing. Everything feels so balanced and calm.

Martin Ontiveros- Its so consistent! It feels balanced but so… wild! I bought my mom one of his T-shirts for christmas and she loves it.

Gunta Stölzl- I love the energy that her textile pieces give off! 

Ruth Marshall - By far my favorite textile artist! That pelt is a KNIT intarsia (multi-colored) piece. Her craftsmanship is incredible, I tried to learn knit intarsia but couldn’t. She has truly mastered a craft.

Antonio Ligabue - This dude was apparently extremely angry and bitter during his life and his screaming tigers show it.

I also love pictorial rugs. They’re like illustration but more decorative and ornate. Styles and subject matter vary by region (left to right)

Chinese pictorial tiger rug, vintage Iranian lion rug (I actually own this one- his name is Button), antique Tibetan tantric tiger rug, contemporary Tibetan tantric tiger rug, Turkish/ Anatolian lion rug, floral Romanian rug

And medieval art is a huge inspiration! There’s something so primal and satisfying about it. Some of the funny, crazy beasts we see in medieval art are thought to be creatures from the edges of the earth. Many were depictions of non-christian entities or based on descriptions of foreign animals. And heraldry, too! I don’t really care about the heralds themselves but I really like the symbology of it.

I LOOOVE the weird, off-brand rainbow color palates!!!I LOOOVE 60′s/ 70′s psychedelic art! Did you know that 60′s/ 70′s psychedelic art was inspired by art nouveau? When you compare them, they’re really similar.

This book is so friggin cool. It’s a pretty dark story but it’s SOOO energetic and complex. It’s so chaotic and uncanny. 

And there’s this insanely detailed fold out in the very back that you almost miss. By far, my fav book

OFF- Mortis Ghost (video game)

I played this a lot in high school and the intense world building really stuck with me. I like the scratchy lines mixed with the pixelated format. The otherworldly creatures and characters are so unusual and original…

I can’t exactly pinpoint HOW OFF ties in with my own style, I’ve just always really liked it.

I drew some really cringy OFF fan art in high school but can’t find it… If I find it I’ll edit it in. 

I like eclecticism in literally all forms- especially art. I try to tie  a lot of different styles and inspiration together.

Another motto I like is from this Justice song - 

“Printed in gold, because details make the girls sweat even more”

I’m probs gonna keep adding to this. Mostly for my own reference but I don’t mind if others read it.

ALTON ADVENTURES BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

So...because its Friday and I usually update AA on Fridays, I figured it was time to make my big announcement! 

And that is...that Alton Adventures is changing. A little bit. 

Am I rebooted the comic again? No haha! Once I get back to it it shall continue as normal but some characters may look a bit different going forward. 

Who may those characters be?

Sir Gareth Nemesis 

Why is he changing? 

Sir Nemesis’ change is actually less drastic than one may think. For starters, he needed a design rehaul. I wanted his armor to be more simple, easier to draw but with still details that could tie him to Nemesis (the green eye, the arms, the light pink details instead of inconsistent tentacles). I also had an issue where his hair was too close to his skin color, so to combat this I turned him into a ginger! His eye color also changed from gold to green, another thing to visually tie him more to Nemesis. 

So yes, I changed Sir Nem’s design because I was unhappy with it. His armor was never drawn consistently ever, I was constantly changing the tone of his hair and his skin so that was inconsistent. I want my designs to be more consistent and polished going forward.

What else is different? Well, you can probably tell he looks much more serious, like in older pictures I drew of him. Why is that? Well, I was kind of..honestly tired of his role as the “dad character tm” that he kind of turned out to be. It almost undermined his true characterization and turned him into a typical over the top exaggerated hero character. And I started to realize how much I missed his original concept. A battle hardened solider that was filled with regret and remorse, who heavily sympathizes with the plight of the alien he’s locked in combat with. He’s still much a father however, as he has a biological son and adopts an alien who mimics his likeness (hence another reason he’s a ginger now as his Nemesis daughter always was one). He’s just returned to his roots as a character. Because I felt that characterization was a unique one for the Nemesis ride. And it was an idea I really loved. Sir Nemesis actually WAS one of my favorite characters...I wanted his role to be much larger than it is in the comics. I don’t blame anyone for him becoming a joke, I did initially kind of fuel the fire for it, I’m just hoping that its not to late to get back to the Sir Nemesis I originally wanted to write. And of course, all my characters are still meme and joke worthy. I just want to tackle much more serious issues with my comic and show the more serious side of some of my characters and don’t want there entire existence to be a joke Mr.S can’t have too many folks 1 uping him in the laughs department!  I guess to note with this change that his original voice claim has also been solidified as well. It’s a more somber and serious tone that I feel fits him as a character. 

Final Notes 

Sir Nemesis is a character that I have a lot of thought put into. His backstory is tragic, emotional, and his character is complex and he’s not the perfect hero people might image him as. I plan for his Arc to follow the Fireworks arc in the comic, as well as I am planning to start some more text heavy short stories about how the Secret Weapons became Secret Weapons (which I will likely call Secret Weapon Short Stories hehe) and will be writing his first. Also a very important thing i must address. Yes, the eye on his chest moves. (I have a gif but it doesn’t want to work on this post Ill have it up later ><)

Erica Annabelle Cloud 

ooof okay this is a huge one. Confession time. Erica was always my least favorite character. Why? She just had...no character. I didn’t know what I wanted to do with her, her design felt phoned in and there because I needed an Air/Galatica character, (yes, she is changing as her Galatica stage too). She was just. not well thought out. She had a dual identity but I think a lot of people didn’t pick up on that? She felt like a Rita 2.0 as just a nice and friendly optimistic person and literally had 0 backstory. Originally she was supposed to have had some sort of accident that turned her into Galatica and she had memory loss and forgotten about when she was Air, yeah it was a mess. That eventually just turned into Nebula Corona being a character she made up (bc her one trait was that she was into space and wrote a lot) that she played as when her rides themeing changed. 

She was just..barely a character and her design was abysmal (Her Galatica suit was okay but her Air outfit was an afterthought) She needed a massive visual upgrade. A sleeker flight suit that makes more sense (I used a ref or two for this design!) A different face shape to help her stand out more, my signature they wear glasses they have dot eyes look. Long, wispy, flowing hair to resemble those trails planes make. A bit more lanky and tall. And let me tell you I LOVE her design now. It looks so much more unique and you can just SEE she has so much more character now!  As for her characterization im going full into her being a nerd. A very tech nerd at that! She designed her suit to help her fly at her best, and eventually will be the one that designs and builds all her Galatica tech! Her Galatica design hasn’t been done yet, mostly bc I wanted to focus on her current comic canon design, but not much would change I feel with her upgrade anyways! She is effectively the brains of the group, and the others often turn to her for plans of attack when dealing with a situation, or innovative solutions to problems! I have yet to get a voice claim for her, but im sure one will come to me soon enough! 

Final Notes

Erica/Nebula was a character I struggled to connect with. Everyone else had Airs that were either super plot important, or just much more cool and creative in general. I felt, that with my Air/Galatica she was just there, and I wanted her to be more. So a full character rehaul was done with her and it makes me so happy. She feels much more fleshed out, better designed, and I’m super excited to do more stuff with her, and hopefully you will all see her much more now that I’m a lot happier with her as a character! <3 

Welp that's the end of the updates....wait. Hold on. I have something written here. What could this be? Oh! I remember now! 

Black Hole, AkA Beatrix, will be joining the MAIN CAST of Alton Adventures! 

When I drew my Black Hole design, I knew she was something special. She stands out compared to a lot of my characters, and her design SCREAMS main character. While the biggest main roles will still be held by Mr. S and Rita, I wanted to add another non SW coaster to the main crew, and because Canonically Corkscrew is MIA, Black Hole seemed like a fitting addition to the main crew! As she isn’t human, a species literally only referred to as Black Holes, I thought making her a main character and giving her a big arc would help flesh out the reality of non humans in Alton Adventures! Her powers and design and character and personality are just too fun to shove her into the background. I feel that adding her to the main cast gives them not only another character to support them, but a closer friend! You will all see her much more in the future for certain! 

Well that's about it! In terms of comic updates themselves...its still going to be hiatus as long as I’m being swamped with school work. I hope you all understand. I’ll try to squeeze in updates over the breaks I have IF im not working on assignments for class. As I also said, I wanna do short stories as well, to expand the world and explain it better, as a comic will only develop the world so quickly and lots of you have tons of questions! I also wanna do something animated at some point, that’s my dream. I’ve ALSO mentioned to some people about merch, likely going for making stickers first since that's simple. I got an excited reaction for that so I’ll come up with designs for them soon! I just wanna do a lot with Alton Adventures, because I know how much it means to people, and of course it means so much. Goodness I really need to actually get to this park, I look quiet silly constantly gushing over a themepark I’ve never been to all the time XP  That all aside I thank you all for sticking by me. I promise that even if I don’t do comic updates as frequently during the school year, I’ll still work to push out as much AA content I can outside of that! I’m always open to suggestions to what you guys want to see! ALSO, working on a big google doc spreadsheet with info on all the characters I’ll be posting when its more completed! T H O M A S

• If Thomas had to describe in one word everything he felt when he looked at you, it would be admiration. He was completely mesmerized by the way you moved, the way you talked, how good of a leader you were, how everyone seemed to rely on you, how you were so tender and yet so brave, how you were so altruistic and generous, how you were determined to save everyone no matter the price. It was what drew him to you. Your personalities were so alike in many ways. Although you weren’t one of the official leaders in Group B, you quickly became the head of the operations because the girls soon realized how good you were at taking the lead, scheming and making plans, and leading people to victory. You were a rebel, a fighter, and Thomas loved that about you. You didn’t try to talk him down, to tell him what he was doing was worthless. You believed in him and he believed in you, and it was enough for the both of you, despite all the death and the chaos surrounding you. You showed your utmost potential in the Scorch: you were an absolute badass, saving Thomas and the others Gladers several times. Your fearless and commander nature was Thomas’s favorite thing about you.

• Besides being one of the strongest and most physically capable ones in the Group, you also valued intelligence a lot, so it was very important for you to keep doing mental puzzles and things like that after all the situation died down. You taught Thomas how to play chess and even if he didn’t understand a lot at the beginning, he was more than happy to play with you. It often ended up in Thomas being frustrated because you won extremely easily, in only a few minutes, and he didn’t understand how you did it. You laughed and told him that he was just really bad at that game, and you wondered why WICKED had even bothered studying his brain. He smiled light-heartedly; your little jokes never failed to bring a smile to his lips, no matter how pained he was by all those he had lost. Evenings in Paradise were spent playing chess on a makeshift board as the sun was dying down behind the horizon on your right, and it was peaceful and quiet: everything you wanted and deserved after the trials.

• Since you loved children a lot, you tried to convince Thomas to have some of your own, years after the dreadful events of the Maze and the Scorch. He was skeptical at the beginning, not wanting his children to live and to be raised in a world so dark, a world so cold, but you told him how amazing of a father he would be and how incredible the kid would feel having a dad like him, and eventually, after a few months of asking and persuading, he accepted. Your first born child, a boy, was named Newt. It felt like a proper tribute to your best friend, and although you wished he could be there to see his small alter ego, you were filled with happiness with your little family. Thomas turned out to be a really good father, treating his child with respect, love, and being firm when he needed to. Sometimes, you could hear Thomas’s voice crack when he called your son by his name, but you shared a comforting look and he smiled lightly. Everything was going to be alright.

M I N H O

• Minho must be your best friend, there is no discussion here and it seems OBVIOUS to me that you two fit each other perfectly. Like honestly I don’t see a romantic relationship between the two of you but sign me up for the bff stuff. You both get so competitive and teasing when you are around each other, especially because you were both the best runners in your respective Mazes, and Minho can’t have his ego beaten by *cough* “a girl” (he regrets those words as soon as he realizes that you’re indeed going to beat him God knows how and that you’re actually one helluva girl). You’re always throwing snarky comments at each other and being what others would think is nasty, but you both know it’s just for the laughs and it’s your way of being affectionate.

• HOWEVER, as soon as the other is in danger, shit gets wild. When Minho is threatened by WICKED because of his immune condition, you’re the first one to react and try your best to protect him, and Minho would be the quicket to jump in front of danger to protect you (I mean, Thomas would too, because they’re both such hotheads). Sometimes, and especially in the Scorch, when everything seems desperate and after Minho gets hit by the thunderbolt, his playful banter slowly turns to more philosophical and deeper conversations that he shares with you at night around a bonfire. At first, you’re taken aback, because it’s a side of Minho that you don’t know, or are not used to seeing. You find some stupid joke to make because seeing your lively best friend so down in the dumps is very frustrating, and he uncontrollably laughs because you know him so well. He’s uncapable of keeping a frown when you’re around.

• After the Scorch and all the Flare shit, when life goes back to normal, you suddenly realize that animals must have suffered as much as humans, if not more, and you instantly find a new goal: adopt and care for any stray animal that you find near Paradise or on the roads. And every g o d d a m n time you see a wounded racoon or a pathetic-looking dog, you must take it in, to the great displeasure of Minho who doesn’t understand that fascination at all. From his point of view, it’s already hard enough to keep humans alive, let alone furballs. However, when you pick a little blind in one eye kitten, pleading eyeing Minho with his only blue orb, and literally shove him under his nose, he can’t help sighing and agreeing with you. From that day, he helps you put up an animal shelter in Paradise and surprisingly becomes the most whipped and gaga in front of the baby animals.

(faceclaim: Blake Steven)• So you didn’t specify which era you wanted so I thought you were okay with any, and I never wrote anything about Next Gen (actually, yes, I did. I wrote a Lorcan x Rose fanfic years ago and it was actually quite decent. It was called Kiss From A Rose bc, yanno, the song and the wordplay, rose, haha, lol, so funny 10/10) so I thought why not? So you two would be King and Queen of mischief™ just like the two amazing bastards he was named after. You may not be the most malicious, and that’s exactly why you make an excellent duo: teachers never suspect you because they know how intelligent, mature and responsible you are, and therefore would never do anything as childish and frivolous as putting pranks on people, right? but they fail to remember that you are dating James Sirius Potter, grandson of James Potter and nephew of Fred and George Weasley. (actually, McGonagall knows very well what’s going on, but she doesn’t interfere a lot because she misses the lively and funny atmosphere in the castle from the Marauders time, or the twins time).

• Soooo many dares, tournaments and stupid challenges between the two of you. At first, they were light-hearted and simple, nothing too extravagant, like “I bet you can’t eat two turkeys in one dinner!”, but as days went on and neither backed down, it escalated until it reached the point of “One hundred Galleons if you dye Professor Longbottom’s hair green in his sleep”. You always come up with the w o r s t dare ideas, or at least the most maleficent, and the thing is James Sirius always executes them. He never backs down from a challenge or dare, partly because it amuses him a lot and partly because he doesn’t want to be seen as cowardly. When you fear it’s going too far (because you have the most common sense, so even if you find it funny, you know when it’s time to stop and be serious), you tell him that it’s okay if he doesn’t do it, and it will absolutely not degrade his reputation or the way you view him, but once he has an idea in mind, he doesn’t let it go. Which leads him to detention quite a handful of times per semester, and as a consequence he receives a lot of Howlers while you’re laughing on the other side of the table.

• Because you both adore animals, and because that kind of stuff seems to run in your blood, you decide during your fifth year to become Animaguses, or at least attempt to do it. It takes a lot of months of preparation, and at first, you are very intimidated by the processus, but James Sirius convinces you to try to do it with him because it will be so much fun and imagine the endless possibilities if you can transform into an animal at will! Finally, after months and months of bizarre spells and disgusting concoctions, after several times escaping from detention because you were brewing potions after hours in the bathrooms, you finally manage to make it. It’s very confusing at first to change shape and become an animal, and not knowing what animal you would change into when you first transformed was very stressful, but after a lot of practice and training, it became easier and easier to get used to changing into an animal, and you could use that new, secret ability to meet with him without anyone knowing.

T E D D Y   L U P I N

(faceclaim: Chace Crawford)• So despite being much older than you both and therefore leaving Hogwarts years before you, Teddy is your best friend because of his mischievous, happy-go-lucky nature that really mirrors James Sirius’s personality. You get to hang out with him a lot, because he is a very good friend of the Potters, and also because you get on well with Victoire too. He is your favorite partner in crime and when he gets a prank idea to pull on someone in the castle and James Sirius is there to follow him, he basically is unstoppable. Your trio is very well known in Hogwarts when Teddy is still attending because of your creative jokes and pranks, and, to tell the truth, a little feared.

• Even after Teddy leaves Hogwarts, you still are in touch with him and talk a lot via letters. You tell him everything that’s going in Hogwarts, the classes, your friends, your family, gossip about the professors and the students, every little thing that he never would have thought he would miss when he was a student himself. He’s the only person you tell about your Animagus journey, and he’s very impressed because he knows it’s a very advanced form of magic and few wizards are ever capable of doing so. He doesn’t need it, obviously, but he loves hearing stories about your adventures and animal escapades nonetheless. Your letters are always the highlight of his days because he loves hearing from you and James Sirius and you are the closest thing he’s ever had to a brother and a sister. He loves hearing from you, your friends and your handwriting always reminds him of the times when you would spend days scheming jinxes and hexes to traumatize the poor other students.

• During the holidays, instead of staying at Hogwarts that becomes completely empty and dull, you would go back to the city and spend one week with your family and the other with the Potters, who basically adopted you as their second daughter. You love spending days with them because most of the time, the Weasleys and Teddy are there too, and it’s one giant family gathering where everyone knows each other and everyone gets along. You usually take long walks in the countryside with your best friend, trying to catch up the time you’ve spent without talking to each other, laughing and running in the corn fields, laying in the grass and laughing at the clouds that ominously look like McGonagall, or that Malfoy kid, reaching a pond and pushing a fully-clothed Teddy in there, then fleeing from the crime scene under his infuriated shouts… You’re so grateful for your friends and the amazing family that took you under its wing.

DOGS!! i love dogs of all sizes and shapes!!! i know i could pick any wild animal too but i really think that overall dogs are my favorite animal in general. i’ve loved them since i was a kid and my current job centers around dogs. i love that dogs have such personality and they’re so loyal and loving.

🍦- Favorite ice cream flavor?

java chip! this was actually something i discovered like a week ago lol until then mint chocolate chip was my favorite and it still is up in like the top 3 but i totally forgot how much i love coffee flavored ice cream. the safeway brand java chip ice cream is unfairly delicious.

⌛️- Last thing you did before logging in?

i think it was getting some coffee and feeding my dog since opening tumblr is the first thing i do every morning. it’s a terrible habit. i hate this hellsite with a passion and yet it has its filthy claws stuck in me i’m trapped forever.

⚜- What is the most precious thing you own?

i honestly lost most of my childhood possessions thanks to my dad since he would always lose our storage units bc he never paid for them in time and all our stuff was sold. my most precious thing used to be this santa plush that would play christmas music when you squeezed his hand. i remember i used to sleep with it every night but he was lost to the void many years ago.

i’m about to get sappy so brace yourself but i think all of the stuff you’ve gotten me over the years are my most precious things. more specifically all the letters you’ve sent with the gifts. i have them up on my wall and they’re just so special to me ;v;

omg i feel like i’ve told this before but i’ll never forget the time i beat my brother up on his birthday. i can’t really remember what started it but i think we were play fighting?? and i ended up kicking him in the crotch and then after that i also accidentally kicked out his tooth??? i have no fucking idea how i did that bc i have never been a fighting machine in my life lmfao

Fire Emblem (considering I’ve only played 13-15, some of 12, and heroes) also my original list had 18 characters… then I had to cut down,,

Sully (Awakening). I bought awakening for her, because I literally thought I could marry her. In technicality I could,, just not as a girl… Kjelle is also amazing and these two are like… gay culture. Also can’t cook and I don’t like cooking (conversely: I really enjoy baking)

Claire (Echoes) I love her personality and just overall character. Her love for Alm is pure and good and the possibilities of her relationship with either Alm or Gray are all just so good and I love her. Even though she originally comes off as stuck up she’s a Great Girl and I love her supports and her. Deserves the world.

Mae (Echoes) I’m weak for happy types and Mae is so perfect. I love Boey as well (as u already know) but of the two she is definitely my preferred. Not only does she kick butt as a unit but her english va is a m a z i n g so 11/10 character.

Lissa (Awakening) Another example of the happy types I’m so weak for. She’s just in general very likable to me and got me through a lot of classes in 8th grade ^^ I drew her a lot

Owain/Odin (Awakening, Fates) He’s just so quirky!! I couldn’t fully appreciate him until Fates but his supports are very lovable (Fates and Awakening alike). I don’t exactly like how they added this “translation” thing to whatever he says in heroes (and the fact that he’s just… so bad in that game) but hey, still the same Odin. Still love him.

Stahl (Awakening) I married him in my first Awakening run and honestly this man is my soulmate. he loves food and helping people and he’s just overall A Good. It’s hard to marry him off to other characters ^^;; if only he had supps w/ sumia….

Jesse (Fates) HOW TO WRITE A RELATABLE CHARACTER PT1 Jesse was SUCH an unexpected fav. normally the “flirtatious casanova philanderer” (all those words are basically the same…) archetype isn’t my… favorite, but I honestly like his idealism and I’m weak for blondes so that’s a thing. His casanova-ess is actually what initially made him really likable bc he said “women are the gods more perfect creation” and talked about how fierce everyone in the army is and like… same man.

Mitama (Fates) HOW TO WRITE A RELATABLE CHARACTER PT2 Mitama is t he  be s t like if Azama wasn’t enough quirky irony for you this girl really takes the cake. She’s always tired, always sassy, and probably gay so she’s best.

Cynthia (Awakening) Her supports are an amazing mix of SUPER silly and super insightful to how growing up shaped her personality? as a sibling to lucina, i find their supps fit the best personality wise, and her supps with Gerome, Owain, Nah, and Severa are my favorites. She’s a hyper, happy go lucky gal who’s also probably gay/bi. What more do I need? I am a simple woman.

Elise (Fates) she and Hinoka were initially my fav siblings in Fates but Elise took the cake bc she is 1) a REALLY good unit, even if early conquest gave you a second to healer elise is honestly second to none and 2) she’s a sweetheart. she didn’t deserve what happened to her in birthright, but it’s honestly perfectly in her character to be so self sacrificing. Also just the conditions she grew up in like I admire her bravery and happiness despite it all.

Mina Ashido (Alien Queen/Pinky) without a single moment of hesitation, Mina is Best Girl. Another case of not enough attention but whenever she does get any it’s really nice and she’s so good? so happy… so pink… I also love her quirk, I want to see her use it more. And she’s been confirmed as very physically strong, so i also wanna sEE THEM ABS

Ochako Uraraka (Uravity!!) one of my favorite things about mha fandom so far is that even with the massive popularity of mlm ships (esp involving deku), I haven’t seen a single person try to bash the het ones, or bash the female character of that ship. Which is good because this girl deserves NO SHADE. NONE. She is A++++ all around, she’s sweet and her motives for being a hero are just… so relatable? I too, work very hard in hopes to support my mom really well when I’m older. I cry with you Uraraka… but…… pls don’t cry….. b l s

Tenya Iida (Tenya/Ingenium) The literal definition of a Good Boy like this kid is so earnest and a nice twist on the ‘smart glasses kun’ trope?? It’s not a h u g e twist, but instead of him being a cold robot who only cares about school and rules blah blah blah it’s just apparent from the beginning that he’s human? And his quirkiness is so befitting of his personality, he’s just in general so lovable. Not to forget, I feel in most shonen anime, a character with Iida’s archetype would be pushed to the side, yet in heroaca they make use of him as a main character and that’s so beautiful imo… Just in general the uraraka/iida/deku squad is a breath of fresh air.

Hatsume Mei (no hero name?) I love how dedicated she is to her inventions, it reminds me of myself with art ^^;; she could go on and on about her babies, as could I about art for days, honestly… So I have respect for her, and her pink hair ofc ;)

Eijiro Kirishima/Momo Yaoyorozu (Red Riot/Creati) I couldn’t choose between these two because I love them both very much,, Kirishima is a Sunshine Boy who’s self sacrificing for his friends which is more than enough to have me like him. Momo is cool headed and very smart, and I find her very admirable. I wish the anime/manga paid more attention to her, considering her quirk alone should be enough to make her a top class contender (since that seems to be a thing that is enforced. so far the top club consists of Todoroki, Deku, Bakugo, and Kirishima but like… we got no girls in there,, why Horikoshi… my heart hurts) but idk I take what I can get.

4. name three authors that were influential to your work and tell why

... like any author or fanfic author? w/e i’ll stick with fic bc i also wasn’t sure up there. anyway. 

1 - @stfangofboredom​ is literally the reason i started writing fic, and has inspired me to no end to continue writing. Fic is where I learned a good portion of the skill I put into my personal writing, and if I hadn’t stumbled upon Another Form of Avian Bird Flu when I was a wee bab I may not have eve started writing that first fanfic. She’s also helped me grow exponentially as a writer and human, Saint is just a huge influence in my life in general. She helped me build my writing style. 

2 - I cannot for the life of me remember the author, but the Klaine fic Where There’s Smoke influenced my writing a lot in the area of, like, little details that make the story feel real. Subtle lines like “he kicked at a piece of dried gum on the sidewalk”, I specifically remember picking these lines out in that fic and loving it and started trying to incorporate them into my writing. This also resurfaced with Cur Non’s fic Revolutionary Fuckboys, they do that a lot too and I love it. 

3 - it’s been so long since I was in the glee fandom i literally can’t remember any author’s names, but the kurtbastian fic A Change in the Weather - that entire thing just. It changed me. It was so beautifully written. I learned a lot just from reading it, like subtle characterization and dynamic relationships, and that helped me learn to shape my characters in writing. Like, that fic was Good. I read it 5 times. 

14. Easiest character to write

tbh i think Frances has become one of the easiest characters for me to write, i love her so much. Her or Alex.

sure alright here. this is from the yet to be named college au (in which i totally don’t project onto alex and john a t a l l) 

“Would you even give a shit?”

John paused. Shocked. Furrowed his brow as he watched Alex, who continued, on a roll now.

“Since when do you actually care? We never even see each other--”

“We have opposite schedules-”

“Bullshit, we live together. And when you’re home, you’re in there getting high as a fuckin’ kite - which is fine, I don’t care what you do, but I do care about what you say. If you’re going to act like you care at least make it convincing - and if you’ve decided that you don’t, because I’m not good enough for you or whatever, then fucking commit. Make it a clean break because I’m not interested in this half-assed bullshit, okay?”

John wasn’t sure what to say. He stood there, let Alex’s words sink in, swallowed thickly.

“I do care.”

Alex rolled his eyes. “Bullshit, Laurens. I bought it once but I’m not buying it anymore. That lie is too pricey.”

Another stretch of silence, John didn’t dare to move. Alex, however, couldn’t help but move, pacing the tiny space between their beds until he finally grabbed a tote bag and started collecting his books, papers, and laptop.

“Where are you going?” John’s voice cracked and Alex had to ignore it, he couldn’t let himself fall for this anymore. He didn’t answer, winding his charger around itself and dropping it into the bag. John’s uncertainty, confusion, and fear started to transform into annoyance, anger heavy in his chest. His fists curled at his sides. “So, what, this is it?”

Still no response. John stepped forward, grabbing the handles of Alex’s bag and ripping it from his grip. “No, you don’t get to do this.”

“Give me my things.”

“You’re not leaving.”

Alex huffed, crossed his arms over his chest and narrowed his eyes. John dropped the bag onto Alex’s bed and stepped closer, Alex resisted taking a step back, standing his ground.

“Why didn’t you say something sooner? If you were this upset, why didn’t you tell me?”

No response.

“Come on, Alex, you couldn’t say enough five minutes ago. Talk to me, dammit.”

“I don’t want to talk-”

“You don’t get to tell me off then not have a conversation about it, okay? You really feel like I don’t care about you? You’re wrong, so fucking wrong.”

“You’ve got quite a way of showing it.” Alex muttered.

John clenched his jaw, took a deep breath and tried to keep his tone even. “I buy your groceries-”

“I don’t need you to buy my-”

“No, just--stop. Shut the fuck up, Alexander. I listened to you, now you listen to me.” John drew in another breath. “I buy your groceries - not because I feel like I need to or have to, or that you can’t do it on your own, because I want to. Because I care about you and I know you’ll keep putting off the trip because you focus more on your books and papers than on your diet. Which is fine, but I want you to have food, so I buy it for you. I hang your towels on the rack, because you leave them bunched on the floor, and that’s not because I’m a neat freak or annoyed. They could mildew if they don’t dry fast enough, and I don’t want you to have to deal with that, so I do it. I make coffee every morning, and I don’t even drink it half the time, but I know you like a cup when you first get up - and before you leave - and you like having one to take with you. So I make enough for three cups, every day, for you. And I don’t do this shit because I don’t think you can do it yourself, I know you’re a fully capable adult, but I do it to make your life easier. Because I care about you. I don’t… I’m not like Laf, I can’t write poetic ballads about how much you mean to me. And I know I’m not very… vocal about it, or physically affectionate all the time - but I do care, Alexander. I care about you so goddamn much, and I’m sorry that I’ve done something to make you question that. You’re not just a rando we let live with us, we all care about you, we all want you here. You’re part of this fucked up little family now, alright? And we all care about you, we all give so many shits you wouldn’t even believe. So, no, you don’t get to storm out of here right now because you’re upset. You get to sit right the fuck here and we’re gonna talk some shit out.”

Alex was silent, actually speechless for a moment, because he had never thought of that other stuff. Sure, he noticed the groceries and the towels, but he never thought anything of it. He spent so much time noticing that John wasn’t there, he didn’t even realize all of the little things John still did for him.

“Alex?”

Alex sniffed and blinked hard, his eyes were burning but he absolutely was not crying. He wasn’t realizing all of the small things that John did, all of the things that meant John cared about him.

“Sorry,” he whispered, staring at the wood flooring beneath his socked feet. “For yelling at you, and stuff.”
