L, P, T, W and X 😎
L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves. (Characters you’re neutral about are fair game, as are characters you merely dislike. Characters that you absolutely loathe with the fire of ten thousand suns are exempt, as there is no point in giving yourself an aneurysm over a character that you hate.)
Despite Alan Scott being the GL I've read the most stories about (usually JSA stuff) I actually haven't gone deep into his lore and backstory and such. Heck, in terms of the GA, Flash, and Wildcat trio Jay and Ted have literally been my blorbos since childhood while I never really cared for Alan that much.
That being said, I really think the choice to have him come out as gay opens a whole slew of interesting storytelling possibilities. Like, I'd really really really love a story that explored his life as a closeted gay man living in the 40s and as well as his perspective of the progress made during the post-war era.
Also that scene where Alan comes out to his kids just made my heart so warm :)
P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas).
*rubs hands together*
Ever since I watched the Stargirl show my gremlin brain began thinking of ways Jesse Chambers could be reimagined as a teenage hero and what I got is an AU where Jesse is a teenage runaway roaming America with only super strength and a lil superspeed to protect her.
Like... for the first few years of her life she lives happily under the care of her parents. Johnny and Libby being golden age heroes themselves, they make sure to give Jesse a mostly normal life, even when she begins showing signs of her mother's strength.
But one night when Jesse is eight, the Chambers-Lawrence household is attacked by Baron Blitzkrieg, an enemy Johnny and Libby had made in their superhero days. The couple ultimately meet their end protecting their daughter and the Baron manages to get away with it all.
Jesse grows up in a foster home while not getting the therapy she very much needs after such a traumatizing event. When she's a teenager she stumbles upon a notebook that her foster father hid from her written in Johnny Chambers' handwriting, of which details the mystery behind Johnny Quick and Liberty Belle's powers, as well as old notes about the enemies the duo had made over the years.
The discovery of the notebook is enough to motivate Jesse to run away and begin a one-woman quest to track down the Baron and enact her revenge.
On the way she meets some old friends of her parents like Jay Garrick, the Tyler family, and Ted Grant, and maybe she even puts on the Liberty Belle suit bc its impossible to write a JSA story without some acknowledgement of legacy.
@DC if you guys don't write this i will.
T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending?
Not to be a BartRose shipper on main but I always like to believe that they have had feelings for one another throughout their time on the Titans. Whether or not either parties would ever act on said feelings is up for debate.
Just... just let me have the idea that Bart and Rose are just two people who've known each other since they started doing superhero stuff and have a unique kind of relationship because of it.
W - A trope which you are virtually certain to hate in any fandom.
I feel like some aspects of fandom was a lil too obsessed with 'top' and 'bottom' hcs like it's the only thing one should think about when discussing character dynamics and sometimes that annoys me.
X - A trope which you are almost certain to love in any fandom.
I tend to enjoy it when people talk about the little quirks they headcanon for characters, like what someone's fave food or fave genre of music is. Sometimes I just like knowing what a character snacks on when they're working or thinking.
#jesse chambers#alan scott#jesse quick#liberty belle#green latern#jsa#dc#in some AUs Jesse is the Flash#but in mine she's a superpowered hobo dead set on revenge#*chef's kiss* content

So last night I wound up reading Amanda's wiki and It made me kind of sad for her, because it very much sounds like she was suffering from stockholme syndrome of a kind there, to me, atleast. Which makes me wonder, what do you think of the pig/amanda? What's your Amanda like in your stories? Do you think she had any potential for redemption (with A LOT of work)? I guess I just wanna hear your thoughts on her character because ur always rly good at it?? - Sleepy
Yeah, whoever wrote the Saw wiki loves Amanda and hates Hoffman and it’s genuinely hilarious. They make a lot of assumptions (like that her motive for killing Adam after he won his game was mercy killing, which is a throughly unconfirmed opinion), and use the most sympthetic & extreme language possible. I’ve watched all the Saw films, and as a character, Amanda is a very enjoyable villain, but as a person? She’s a truly awful human being. (Side note—this typed last— So, mentioning certain Saw characters sends me flying into a rage like a D&D berserker, so this is gonna get angry as hell, but 0 of it is at you. I love you. This is at the Jigsaw squad. WHO I FUCKING HATE. Ahem. Anyway. Felt like the level of unbridled and sudden fury needed a heads up lol.) It’s not Stockholm syndrome. In Saw one, she’s a victim who is put in a reverse beartrap and forced to either die, or cut the key out of the stomach of a paralyzed by drugs but very alive (which she knew) other kidnap victim, whom she cut open and killed. After enduring that trauma and barely surviving, she immediately accepted John’s offer to join him. She was not forced, she was not tricked. He asked, and because she wanted to feel special and important, she agreed to inflict suffering she knew goddamn well the horrible level of on others first hand, and went willingly. She is self-centered to her core, and became dependent on and infatuated with John, and obsessed with his approval. She kidnapped Adam and Lawrence with him, who were kidnapped for fuckall reason (literally John just thought photography was pathetic) and for almost cheating on his wife (lol this was John’s ‘stated’ reason—his real reason was John is the world’s pettiest bitch, and Lawrence was the doctor who told him he had cancer. I’m not fkn kidding he’s that level of petty self-absorbed, self-righteous bastard) respectively. Then killed Adam after he won his game, which should have given him freedom but John reneged on like he always does like the pissy little bitch he is, Amanda killed him for reasons up to speculation. However, given John usually tests people who win a second time or tries to get them to join or some bullshit, it’s more plausible to assume her motive was seeing him as a threat than that it was mercy killing, and it’s only stated in-film to be an emotion based decision, not her actual movtive. Everyone’s opinion on this action is just that—opinion. With varying degrees of factual basis behind the educated level of educated guess.
In Saw 2, she helps John kidnap a bunch of drug addicts like herself who all got false arrests by the same officer at one time or another, along with a poor fucking 15 year old whose crime is having that cop for a dad. She then spent the next two hours watching people whose only crime was drug use, like herself, die horribly of organ deterioration, knowing at any time she could have stopped it and saved them all because she knew how to get the antidotes. Bitch even holds one girl in her arms and stokes her head and pretends to care about her while she hacks up deteriorated lung and blood and fucking dies, when at any moment she could have chosen to let her live. Literally no one should be more sympathetic to them than her. She knows how addicted to drugs feels, and the help you need. Anyway, she doesn’t, she lets them die and plays with them, and then when it’s to her, the 15 year old—who multiple times saves or helps her when hurt by other participants, and is nothing but kind—and one other man, the man shows up to kill her to get an antidote, and the poor fucking 15 year old child kills him with a saw to save her, traumatizing himself to a breakdown afterwords, and instead of being even thankful, she attacks and knocks him out, ties him up and attaches an oxygen tank so he won’t suffocate, and locks him in a fucking like tiny ass safe to be a game piece for another trial and leaves him there. His dad, who admittedly needs to serve jail time but isn’t a fucking murderer at least & does love his son, shows up distraught looking for his kid he’s afraid is dead, and she sneak attacks and takes him down, then leaves him chained up in a nasty lost bathroom to starve slowly to death, and doesn’t even do him the decency of telling him his kid isn’t dead. When he breaks his foot to get free and comes hobbling wounded after her, she sneak attacks again and he nearly wins, but she fucks up his broken foot and starts to leave, then comes back and beats him (she thinks) to death becuase he said she would never be Jigsaw, and she’s that petty and proud. Kid never gets to know what happened to his dad, and even alive, will definitely die young from the complications one, you know, gets from almost dying of chemical organ deterioration.
In Saw 3, the main victim is a man whose kid was lost in a hit and run. Jigsaw has Amanda kidnap his wife because she’s a surgeon and also was once not as sympathetic as he thought she should be when talking to him about his cancer at the hospital (I’m not even fucking exaggerating—side note, I will beat John Kramer to death myself with my huge fucking meat fists and laugh as I watch his bones crumble to dust). This poor bitch just lost a kid, then separated from her husband because he was a fucking mess consumed with revenge against the poor college kid who accidentally hit his son & totally withdrew from the world, and she wakes up with a collar filled with shotgun shells basically a 360 gun blow off your head collar deal on, and Amanda wheeling her around in the wheelchair she’s tied to. They tell her if she keeps John alive until the person being tested finishes his test, she can go free. The whole movie, Amanda keeps trying to convince John to kill the poor woman even though she complies just because she’s a throughly selfish, petty, conceited, self-pitying bastard with no regard for others, and wants this “Bitch” to die for fun. She feels she’s a threat for John’s attentions, and John isn’t even romantically inclined toward her, but she’s obsessed and doesn’t care. Amanda decides between Saws 2 and 3 that people aren’t fixable—even though she herself was supposedly “helped” by her Jigsaw game and this is hypocritical as fuck—and just starts straight up fucking torture murdering for fun. To the point even John thinks she has to be stopped. Like if John fucking Kramer thinks you’ve gone to far? Jesus help you because no one else can. She still does the torture, but instead of like, chopping off your own hand with a paring knife and getting to live, you chop it off and then still slowly get your head crushed between two beams being screwed closer and closer together. She kills Kerry for fuckall reason except she wants to (Kerry is a detective who did jack shit wrong—she was just on the case. It’s utter bullshit). Kidnaps her, straps a thing with hooks in her ribs that will tear out her rib cage when a timer runs out, and kill her that way, and had her hung up above the ground tied by chains, and tells her if she burns her hand up in a bottle of acid to get the key at the bottom which is hard period in the suit—never mind losing the hand—she can live. And Kerry fucking does, ruins her hand, unlocks the lock, and the suit won’t come off becuase the cunt rigged it. Then Amanda shows up to watch her die for fun just to smile smugly at her and watch her fear. Because she’s a fucking soulless, sadistic, evil, self-centered, self-important asshole.
Obsessed dad let’s a fucking bystander whose only crime was seeing a hit and run and running off freeze to death stripped naked and sprayed with water in a freezer slowly, saves a judge who gave too weak a sentence to the hit and run kid after the man begs, and then lets the poor fucking college kid who did it and already feels awful get his arms twisted till they snap off, legs twisted till the same, and then his head twisted around back so far it twist snap kills him. The rack is fucking beyond inhumane death. Amanda monitors this while threading Lynn (the poor doctor lady) for fun and crying over poow wittwe John who is dying of cancer (thank you god for doing what we couldn’t), and being miserable. Eventually, Hoffman sends her a letter saying if she doesn’t kill Lynn, he’ll tell John that she was one of the people there to steal drugs the night his wife got injured and miscarried (he probably already knew 🙄), and becuase Amanda cares about nothing more than Amanda, she fucking monolgauges at John about how special and sad she is how he needs to fix her and she’s a murderer but she doesn’t care because you know—she’s depressed : ( so she gets a pass for her self she’s UwU sad so her poor little crisis can have a massive torture body count bc she’s that special UwU and why is Lynn not gonna die even though she did her job!??? So unfair! No one changes kill them all but tell me I’m special I’m symapthetic because I’m sad and that makes it fun for me to tear people’s ribs out :’( —and then she fucking shoots Lynn becuase she cares less about an innocent woman’s life than the potential for John to be mad at her :’-( you know—such symapthetic stuff! And then John is like “Ok then fkn die :’(“ and Jeff/unstable dad/Lynn’s husband runs in and shoots her and then kills John.
Anyway! I fucking hate Amanda with a passion, and John. I cannot stand humans who hurt each other for fun, especially when they target those who most need help. But above all I cannot abide a person who is a sadistic, selfish, wholly self-absorbed fuck of a human, and refuses to take any responsibility for their actions or admit how fucking bad they are and has the goddamn nerve to act like a victim. Like if you’re going to be an evil son of a bitch, at least have the decency to admit it. If you’re a self-pitying “im uwu special and sad and better and more important than everyone else” —double points for “& becuase I am attractive I can get away with being a soulless shit without any being held accountable” from fandom or the media itself, tripple if from both—? I will kill you myself. I will rip out your eyes and chew on them. I will kill my self on a bomb to take you too. I will chew off my left arm for the sole purpose of getting to beat you to death with it. The wiki writer bends over back so bad they’re gonna need a brace the rest of their life to make her sound sympthetic, but they’re just a fan. She’s not. At all. She doesn’t have Stockholm, and I see people say “she got manipulated and used : (“ all the time, but without fail so far it’s people who think she’s hot and just want a reason to stan that because somehow a hot white woman with short hair even if canonically infatuated with John Kramer is somehow both a lesbian, and excusable for every horrible torture murder she ever did to feel uwu special in her depressed sad times. She wasn’t manipualated. It happened fast, she wasn’t courted into it, and she didn’t even hesitate to say yes. He offered her an out, made sure she was serious, and she stayed. And then she escalated to the point John took her out to stop her, because it was worse than what he wanted to do. I enjoyed her as a villain but as a person I fucking hate Amanda, and don’t really want to see her get another chance. Bastard doesn’t deserve one. I can’t say there’s no continuum in which she could never improve or be redeemed becuase who the fuck knows, and I like to think there’s a smidgen of hope for anyone, but that said, I do think the more evil you willfully do, the more you lose your humanity, and you can hit a point there’s just no person left. So. Anyway, hah, I don’t think she’s redeemable and frankly don’t want her redeemed. I want to burn her to death myself if I have to die that way too. Also! This was a wildly angry answer but none of it is directed at you. That wiki writer does make her sound symapthetic, I’ve read the wiki too—just I go into a blind rage any time John or Amanda is even mentioned and it takes me a half hour to come back down. I fly into a rage. If I ever go into anaphylactic shock, all a friend has to do is start mentioning the names of Saw villains and my adrenaline will start pumping like jet fuel and I’ll be fine. I just have a whole lot of righteously just rage at horrible awful self-righteous self-absorbed malicious manipulative dehumanizing self-pity bastards who take 0 responsibility for their evil or admit it, and Amanda & John are two at the way top of that rage list. It’s a dark but powerful headspace when I think of them. I become very powerful...but also very enraged. Lol, anyway, here’s the breakdown you didn’t need, but it is throrough!
#ask#Sleepy#anonymous#Saw#dead by daylight#Amanda Young#Saw 2#Saw 3#spoilers#side note! I have friends who /do/ love her as a character—I ain’t got beef with her existing or smth. or people who enjoy or love her#I like my fair share of horrible villains. I love Rafe from Uncharted 4 & he’s a certified piece of shit.#the only thing that gets me is people who try to be like ‘🥺 : ( but she’s a pwetty white woman w short hair which = lesbian /queen/! & makes#her exempt from all responsibility of torture murder. 💕💖 bc she’s so special and she was sad : ( I hc she dissociates so how can people not#love her if I pretend she doesn’t know what she’s done when canonically that’s not the case but I still think it? why do you not adhere to#my personal head canon making her sympthetic. : ( She’s pretty so she deserves 0 guilt or punishment. pwetty sad poor little baby girl : (#needs love. TuT No badness ever wum? she isn’t responsible for her own actions what u mean an adult is responsible for their choices even if#sad?? :0 No. I don’t understand you can love terrible characters so I have to snap my back in half trying to pretend she did nothing wrong’#because I have uhhhh seen it more than I wish despite my best efforts & im so goddamn tired :’)#sorry Sleepy this is like#one of my top 10 ‘I’m flyinn into a rage’ buttons I can’t help it I hear John or Amanda’s names & I see red#and can’t stop until the Justice and Judgement cards of life’s tarot deck are done punting me back and forth like a racquetball

Q&A: Nina Nesbitt Might Be The Britney Spears of our Generation
Already off to an impressive start to 2018, which includes numerous sold-out tour dates and amassing upwards of 100 million streams to date, Scottish singer-songwriter Nina Nesbitt is just getting started. Nesbitt’s vibrant voice is derived from her musical influences Britney Spears and Whitney Houston, and her rapid growth as an artist only further contributes to her confident classic pop style. Her flair for catchy pop and R&B blended with her own confessional songwriting has gathered fans such as Chloe Grace Moretz and Taylor Swift, who included ‘The Best You Had’ on her “Favorite Songs Playlist.”
Earlier this year, Nina Nesbitt partnered with Spotify for their Louder Together program to record the first ever collaborative Spotify Single Original called “Psychopath” with fellow Ones To Watch Sasha Sloan and Charlotte Lawrence.
Fresh off her summer tour supporting Jesse McCartney, Nina released a brand new single, “Loyal To Me,” which was inspired by the “independent-women spirit of the 90s and is a self-help to dating.” She plans on releasing a full-length album in early 2019.
Ones to Watch recently chatted with Nina Nesbitt to chat about her musical journey, Spotify’s Louder Together program, post-tour plans, and more. Read more below and be sure to catch the rising songstress on her upcoming fall tour with MAX:

OTW: Let’s start from the very beginning. Why music? What made you realize music was path you wanted to pursue?
NN: It’s something I have loved doing ever since I was a kid. I was the only child--I had a lot of spare time by myself, and so my parents often times encouraged me to do something that I enjoy and that is creative. I did a lot of art, story writing, and music. Music was my favorite thing out of all the creative arts. Eventually, I put my stories into music and so I started songwriting. It’s something I never thought I could do as a career but I really enjoyed it. Suddenly, one day, I ended up doing it as a career I guess and earning a living from it, and it kind of just stuck.
OTW: How have you grown musically and personally since you’ve released your first EP “Live Take” in 2011?
NN: I’m from a little small village in Scotland, which is very far from the music industry and anything else, so the only opportunity I had was to buy an acoustic guitar and put my music out that way. There were no studios or really any other artists that I could work with. I really liked acoustic music and once I got signed, I moved to London. I feel like the move was key to my sound and style changing and just overall growing as a person. Coming from a small place to one of the biggest cities in the world is a culture shock. You have to grow up. You get to know a lot of different characters as people, and you figure out how things work a bit more. I think that’s what personally matured me. And musically, I had the chance to collaborate with so many amazing people like writers and other artists that have influenced my music. I have a studio set up as well where I produced “The Moment I’m Missing.” I wrote all of the new album there.
OTW: Which of your songs took the longest to write and why?
NN: “The Best You Had.” I had the lyrics, “It’s crazy that you’re moving on so fast but baby it’s okay if I am still the best you had,” in my notebook for a good six months. I was really pleased with that line but kept trying to get it into a song. It means a lot to me. Those lyrics have been in about five different songs that never came out. I kept persevering with it and one day, I was in the studio with my friend Jordan, who I write quite a lot with, and we played these chords, and the song literally wrote itself within twenty minutes. I’m glad I kept trying to better it because I wasn’t happy with it before. It was a nightmare to write but in the end, it was actually one of the easiest songs.
youtube
OTW: What has it been like supporting the Jesse McCartney tour?
NN: Great! So many different audiences from what I’m used to playing to. I wasn’t familiar with his music until before the tour. All my friends absolutely love him, but I never had Nickelodeon as a kid so I never knew about him. He’s great. He knows how to work the stage. He’s so lovely.
OTW: Do you have any traditions you like to do pre-show/on tour?
NN: I try to stay healthy but in America, it’s impossible because you have so much space here. Like sometimes the drive is 10 hours some days and the only thing available is fast food, so I’m just enjoying being unhealthy. My tour ritual for this tour is to enjoy food and eat as much as I can.
OTW: Most memorable moment from your music career so far?
NN: There’s quite a lot of different memorable moments especially because I’ve been doing this for about six to seven years. I would have to say playing to ten thousand people at festivals -- that’s something I’ll never forget. “The Best You Had” got over 30 million streams, which is a really crazy number to me. It was so unexpected. I signed an independent deal with a label, a very casual record deal, just to put out songs that I like, and then suddenly I had over 30 million streams, I’m on a billboard in Times Square with Spotify, and all these things just happened so fast which I’m so grateful for. I feel like a lot of times you only get one shot as an artist and so I feel blessed.
OTW: What’s a city you’d like to someday perform in?
NN: Tokyo. I’m obsessed with Japan and I’ve never been. I’ve been to Hong Kong. I’m really obsessed with Asian culture because it’s so different from British culture. I’ve heard from other artists that go there just have the most amazing time.
OTW: We love your recent release “The Sun Will Come Up, The Seasons Will Change.” What does that song mean to you?
NN: That song was released because it was on a TV show, Life Sentence. That one is part of a collection of songs and represent a journey from start to finish. For example, “The Moments I’m Missing” is the intro track, and it’s about losing yourself and feeling lost. The middle point is “Somebody Special” because you feel like you’ve found your worth again and remember who you are. The last one is “Sun Will Come up, The Seasons Will Change,” and it sums up the whole album for me as a concept and represents the light at the end of the tunnel. I’m hoping people listen to it and take what they want from it. It’s also the message I keep with me in life. Nothing is permanent. Whatever you’re going through whether it’s really shit or really great, don’t take anything for granted. Don’t think your life will be like this forever. If you’re having a bad day, just remember things keep changing all the time.
OTW: What is the first thing you’re going to do once you return home post-tour?
NN: Give my dog a big hug. I’m also shooting a new music video the day I get back.
OTW: Wow! Can you tell us about that?
NN: Yes! I’m really excited for the video I’m shooting because I think it’s going to be something people won’t expect.
OTW: We can’t wait to see it. “Psychopath” was the first ever collaborative single from Spotify’s ‘Louder Together’ program. What was it like being a part of that with Sasha Sloan and Charlotte Lawrence?
NN: It was great! I’ve never actually collaborated with other female artists before and I think like for so long, we’ve been conditioned to think that other females are competition -- don’t work with them, don’t support them. And it’s like come on, we can all have space here to put out music. I think Spotify has done given girls a platform, especially girls in pop. They put you on so many playlists to get your streams up, which means more people come to the gigs, and it really helps. This collaboration was really cool because I’m a big fan of both of them and Sasha is an amazing song writer and Charlotte is an amazing new artist. It’s cool to get in a room with like-minded females that also do pop and understand what we do on a daily basis.
OTW: Who are some of your Ones to Watch artists?
NN: So later this summer, I will be touring with Lewis Capaldi, who I think is amazing. He’s Scottish. He’s great. I think he’s going to do really well and everyone should check him out.

Kaitlyn x MC HCs (as per anon request)
1. Who is the early bird/ Who is the night owl?
Kaitlyn’s a major night owl. MC tries to keep up, but tends to pass out...often flopping right onto her. It can be inconvenient.
2. Who is the big spoon/ Who is the little spoon?
They switch, but generally Kaitlyn’s the big spoon. MC revels in the feeling of being totally enveloped in Kaitlyn’s embrace. When MC can’t sleep, she’ll grab Kaitlyn’s arms and pull them around herself. Though this wakes her up, she never minds and gives MC a loving squeeze and soft kiss on the back of her neck before falling back asleep.
3. Who hogs the cover/ Who loves to cuddle?
They battle for covers-custody constantly. MC usually wins, but relinquish the blankets because Kaitlyn’s “just too cute to say no to”.
4. Who wakes the other one up with kisses?
On the rare occasion Kaitlyn wakes up before MC, she'll pepper her with kisses until she wakes up (usually groggily groaning one of her celebrity crushes’ names “Oh Jen..” to get Kaitlyn feisty. It doesn't usually work “Aniston or Lawrence?”)
5. Who usually has nightmares?
Kaitlyn has frequent nightmares with monsters from her favorite horror movies, though she claims that she actually likes them. MC sees through her bluff though when she snuggles extra close and squeezes her a little tighter afterwards.
6. Who would have really deep emotional thoughts at the middle of the night/ Who would have them in the middle of the day?
They're both known to wake the other up to ask deep philosophical questions
“If you can sunbathe, does that mean you can moonbathe?”
“OMFG I WAS WONDERING THE SAME THING”
7. Who sweats the small stuff?
Kaitlyn. She's still fairly insecure about their relationship, often being worked up when her plans don't go exactly according to, well, plan. When she starts stressing, MC will take her face in her hands and kiss her nose, assuring her that “everything is perfect”
8. Who sleeps in their underwear (or naked)/ Who sleeps in their pajamas?
MC used to sleep in her pajamas but Kaitlyn's incessant whining that “pj are just extra distance between [them]”, they now both sleep “O’ Natural”. It's gotten to the point MC often forgets to get dressed when leaving their room in the morning. Needless to say, her friendship with Zack and Chris with never be the same again.
9. Who makes the coffee (or tea)?
MC makes it, though admits she probably doesn't need it with her “natural high on life”. Kaitlyn knows she needs it, and demands it “by the friggin gallon”.
10. Who likes sweet/ Who likes sour?
They both love the combination, often opting to buy both a pack of Swedish fish, and one of Sour Patch Watermelon. when it comes down to it though, the Swedish fish always gravitate toward MC and the Sour Patch Watermelon to Kaitlyn.
11. Who likes horror movies/ Who likes romance movies?
Kaitlyn LOVES horror movies. To death. Quite literally. MC doesn't like them but tolerates them for Kaitlyn's sake. Usually Kaitlyn tells her to “watch [her]” during the scary parts, and takes the opportunity to steal a kiss or two.
MC is a sucker for cheesy romance, romcoms in particular. Kaitlyn insists that “true love happens over time and can't be represented in an hour and a half” She will admit though, that “Drew Barrymore is smokin’”, and she'd “watch anything to see her in it”.
12. Who is smol/ Who is tol?
MC is tol, though just barely taller than Kaitlyn. Personality wise, MC is smol.
13. Who is considered the scaredy cat?
MC. She jumps at every little thing. Kaitlyn used to like scaring her, but at this point it’s too easy and she doesn’t even bother trying.
14. Who kills the spiders?
Kaitlyn, though MC always whines and asks her not to kill them. Once, Kaitlyn tried sparing a spider and instead dumping it outside (as requested) but a paranoid MC changed her mind and sent her back out into the wilderness to ensure it wouldn't return. It took hours.
15. Who is scared of the dark?
MC. She's “not scared, just apprehensive of what might be hiding in it”.
16. Who is scared of thunderstorms?
MC. She startles with each thunder clap and and shivers at the thought of lightning. Occasionally though, Kaitlyn can convince her to stand outside in it, and they kiss beneath the torrent.
17. Who works/ Who stays at home?
They both work, though MC tends to work from home (writing). Kaitlyn has spare time between gigs, and so they hang together a lot while they’re at home.
18. Who is a cat person/ Who is a dog person?
They’re both dog people, although MC also loves cats. Kaitlyn loves MC’s dog (MC sometimes gets a lil jelly over how much Bastien (“don’t judge”) loves Kaitlyn)
19. Who loves to call the other one cute names?
It’s been a sickening and undying competition between them for ever. It started with Kaitlyn calling MC “bunny” (after an embarrassing The Christmas Story -esque fiasco), to which MC countered “snugglebunny”. The most recent installment is “Snuffleupagus-bunny-pooh-bear I” (Kaitlyn’s creation) but with no end in sight, and with Webster’s Dictionary being the colossal reference that it is, the possibilities are endless.
20. Who is dominant/ Who is submissive?
Kaitlyn tends to be dominant, but they switch it up frequently (MC loves topping Kait mid “session”--Kaitlyn loves it too).
21. Who has an obsession (over anything)?
Kaitlyn’s ongoing horror movie obsession has grown tiresome for MC. If she has to sit through another Skin Goblins marathon, let alone being Kaitlyn’s Skin Goblin cosplay partner (it’s a two person costume), MC’s head might implode.
22. Who goes all out for Valentine’s Day?
MC openly obsesses over Valentine’s Day, whereas Kaitlyn tries to act cavalier (while planning an extensive surprise in secret).
23. Who asks who out on the first date?
MC asked Kaitlyn bc Kaitlyn still couldn’t fathom that MC was into her as well (old gay insecurities).
24. Who is the talker/ Who is the listener?
They take turns. It’s slightly ridiculous. Kaitlyn fished a clock out of an ancient chess set from her (limited) time in chess club in highschool. They take turns chattering for 45 seconds at a time before switching again.
25. Who wears the other ones clothes?
Kaitlyn.
Never.
Does.
Laundry.
Ever.
Hope that’s enough information to answer the question :)
26. Who likes to eat healthy/ Who loves junk food?
They both live on crap food (past the point of junk food). They’re working on it though, no more Cheetos with Cheez Doodle on top, only one or the other.
27. Who takes a long shower/ Who sings in the shower?
They both sing in the shower, although Kaitlyn’s singing is far less embarrassing (and yet she somehow remains more embarrassed while doing so? Again, old gay insecurities die hard).
28. Who is the book worm?
MC loves reading (mostly graphic novels at this point), whereas Kaitlyn’s Netflix addiction grows with each season of American Horror Story.
Even the bad ones.
29. Who is the better cook?
Neither of them can make a half decent meal alone without making an offensive mess. As near as they can figure though, two heads are actually worse than one, as when they work together nothing gets made except for a mess.
30. Who likes long walks on the beach?
MC and Kaitlyn like to ironically frolic along the shores, hand in hand. MC actually loves building sandcastles, while Kaitlyn actually loves stomping them afterwards.
31. Who is more affectionate?
MC is more innocently affectionate; opting to hold hands in public, sneak quick kisses, and give long tender hugs. Kaitlyn, although now confidently out, is still occasionally nervous (old gay habits) of PDA, but more than compensates in private.
32. Who likes to have really long (deep) conversation?
They both do, but MC’s subject matter tends to be lighter whereas Kaitlyn’s discussion topics usually derive from real-life examples she’s feeling guilty or regretful of.
33. Who would wear “not guilty” t-shirt/ Who would wear “sin” t-shirt?
Kaitlyn wanted to wear the “not guilty” shirt, but MC called her out.
34. Who would wear “if lost return to…” t-shirt/ Who would wear “I am…” t-shirt?
Kaitlyn's the lost puppy. They wear them so often that they've accumulated 3 pairs. Kaitlyn thinks it's funny to also wear the “I am MC” shirt without MC noticing. MC does not share the sentiment.
35. Who goes overboard on the holidays?
MC is obsessed. Kaitlyn tends to forget they're even coming up, tending to opt for belated holiday gifts (so she has the timeto buy them last minute). One year she got MC a single disposable razor left over from her 5 pack (“get it? Because you raze the roof?”)
MC did get it.
MC was not amused.
36. Who is the social media addict?
Kaitlyn's developed a bit of an obsession since becoming her band’s social (media) butterfly.
37. Height difference or age difference?
A tiny height difference, MC is a hair taller.
38. Who likes to star gaze?
They both LOVE it, often waking up on their front lawn after an especially starry night.
39. Who buys cereal for the prize inside?
They both will, but won't admit it; often racing the other to finish the box solely for the prize at the bottom. MC calculated the number of times it takes to reach the bottom and so feels confident she's getting the mood ring (little does she know, Kaitlyn already opened the bottom of the box, took the ring, and taped it back up).
40. Who is the fun parent/ Who is the responsible parent?
They don't have kids, but they have a dog! His name is Wilbur, and they're convinced he's actually a pig in disguise. They're both honestly abysmal dog/pig parents, but together they manage to walk him, feed him, and get him to the vet on time (usually).
41. Who cries during sad movies?
MC. Kaitlyn rolls her eyes, hugs her close, and hands her a tissue (though they have to share whenever a dog dies).
42. Who is the neat freak?
MC wouldn't call herself a neat freak, but Kaitlyn’s messiness pains her soul. She often reminisces to the brief period of time she lived with Rachel, musing that she “didn't yet know what a trash goblin truly was”.
43. Who wins the stuffed animals at the carnival for the other one?
They both try very hard and fail even harder, but have a great time and opt for cotton candy and caramel apples instead.”Food is the best prize anyway”
44. Who is active/ Who is lazy?
They're both pretty lazy, although MC tends to be pretty restless and hard to pin down. She spends a lot of their “Netflix and Chill” sessions pacing more than chilling.
45. Who is more likely to get drunk?
Kaitlyn doesn't drink anymore, though she has a growing suspicion that her “shirley temples really do [her] in”
46. Who has the longer food order?
Kaitlyn. MC tries to keep up, but Kaitlyn could eat everything on the menu and still have seconds. It's no competition.
47. Who has the more complex coffee order?
MC. Not that her order is overly complicated, but Kaitlyn drinks black coffee.
“I like my coffee how I like my women, bitter”
“Hey!”
*winks *
48. Who loses stuff?
They both lose everything. Kaitlyn at least knows she left her things amidst her other piles of crap, whereas MC loses things everywhere she goes and has no chance of tracking them down.
49. Who is the driver/ Who is the passenger?
They tend to go by bus, but when it comes to it MC usually drives.
50. Who is the hopeless romantic?
Day by day, MC is, but Kaitlyn is excellent at creating massive gestures. MC loves them (and her) dearly.
Give me a fictional couple :D

Part 2
Two of the most attractive men ever, Bodie and Doyle (don't @ me).
VHS (RIP).
Robert Lowth, a massive dick.
Tom Robinson, a massive LGBT+ activist (as well as an activist for so many other things) and musician who everyone needs to listen to right now.
Bernie Wolfe the Canadian businessman.
My dog Geordie, named after Geordie Keating from Grantchester and not after Geordie Shore bc I actually have taste. He is not a good boy, he is the devil incarnate, but my name suggestion of Damien was vetoed.
The only football player I know, Emlyn Hughes.
Eddie the Seagull Edwards.
These two casts of The Bill (and everyone else up until 2002 including all the guest actors).
Back ish row, left to right: Larry Dann (a fucking legend along with his fellow sergeants, who I will get to), Colin Blumenau (not actually Welsh), Mark Wingett (was in Quadrophenia and has a brother), Jon Iles (the one who was in an episode of To the Manor Born), Robert Hudson (Yorkshire, one of my favourites. Nicknamed Yorkie, which is partly where my own nickname comes from) and Chris Ellison (Frank Burnside, alias Tommy).
Front ish row, left to right: Roger Leach (the second sergeant, Australian. Was in an episode of Shoestring and played a Tom Robinson song), Mark Powley (his daughter Bel was in M.I. High which is pretty cool I guess), Jeff Stewart (another legend. Love Reg Hollis and his magic tricks and poppadoms), Kelly Lawrence (kind of just disappeared with no explanation), Kevin Lloyd (played Tosh, not really much else to say. The fact that he played Tosh should be enough, and if you don't know what I'm on about, watch the fucking Bill), Barbara Thorn (the first female Inspector on the show and a fucking badass), Tony Scannell (I thought he was Welsh but he's actually Irish) and Trudie Goodwin (I don't really like June Ackland, sorry, but Trudie is actually lovely and she's been on Pointless a few times).
Back row, left to right: Huw Higginson (Dennis Waterman is his father in law), Martin Marquez (father of Karen from Outnumbered), Stephen Beckett (is cool but idrk much about him for some reason), Graham Cole (plays Tony Stamp, one of the most iconic characters. Basically big brother to everyone, plays lots of practical jokes on his colleagues along with his boyfriend Dave and loves a doughnut), Iain Fletcher (his character is awful but I kinda like him) and Jeff Stewart again.
Middle row, left to right: Seeta Indrani (plays a badass female officer who doesn't take shit from anyone. I love her), Kerry Peers (saw her live and never even knew about it. Pretty pissed off tbh), Lisa Geoghan (gets messed around by a few of the lads but is looked after pretty well by my favourite character Andrew Monroe. She's sweet and a badass at the same time), Robert Perkins (hate to say it, but I feel like Ray Steele is a bit of a non entity. Robert is pretty cool though), Tom Butcher (people don't really like his character Steve, and I can see why, but he's really good with children and I think he's adorable. Tom Butcher has also been in Doctors), Louise Harrison (is obsessed with Elvis), Andrew Mackintosh (basically got the job bc they needed a Scottish 26 year old who could play the clarinet. He's actually from Pennsylvania. His music is damn cool), Tony O'Callaghan (his character is a dick but you love to hate him), Lynne Miller (I love her character so much and the way they killed her off was just rude), Tom Cotcher (he's also Scottish and was in a good episode of Tales of the Unexpected, but I won't tell you which. He does art now), Andrew Paul (plays Dave Quinnan, Tony's boyfriend. Don't even bother to tell me they're not together because I'll block you.) and Mary Jo Randle (plays another character I adore, Jo Morgan. They had her shot and I fucking cried and I'm still not over it. Same goes for Viv Martella, who for some reason is in neither of these photos).
Front Row (pretty much all the bigwigs) left to right: Mark Wingett again, Kevin Lloyd again, Gary Whelan (I swear he was in a Tango advert with a guinea pig), Simon Rouse (the one I have a framed photo of. He plays Andrew Monroe's husband in this and they're always bickering but they love each other really, and he also was in Doctor Who: Kinda playing unhinged Hindle. Apparently he had a naked portrait of himself which was painted by his wife up on his dressing room wall when he was in The Bill), Ben Roberts (his character Derek was killed by a firebomb bc some bitches wanted to have an affair on police time. He just wanted to eat his sandwich in peace! His fandom wiki doesn't list Brownlow as a friend, but Brownlow's lists him. I think they had a tiff.), Peter Ellis (played Brownlow, the Superintendent at Sun Hill for ages. Kept stopping Derek from getting promotion bc he couldn't bear to lose him, but eventually Derek just went behind his back to get a new job. Peter Ellis was the reason Colin Tarrant got into acting, which I love, but it also makes me sad), Philip Whitchurch (was Tyler in My Hero and believe me, this is a hell of a different role. Didn't like his character in The Bill until his last few episodes, and then I wish he'd stayed), Shaun Scott (apparently Canadian and a pretty good actor. Played a criminal a few times before becoming Chris Deakin, who was a bit of a weak character and not really worth having in there imo), Eric Richard (plays Bob Cryer and is literally everyone's uncle. Most likely had an affair with Roger Leach's Tom Penny at some point and they're still the closest friends I've ever seen. The third sergeant in the holy trinity and very likeable), Trudie Goodwin again and Colin Tarrant (plays Andrew Monroe, Jack Meadows' husband and everyone's dad and my favourite character in the whole programme. Still can't watch his last episode bc they killed him off, but we never actually see a body, so I refuse to believe he died. Colin used to be a teacher and was in The Rainbow with Imogen Stubbs, and when he went back to the school the day after it was on TV, the kids were wondering why tf he was still there. He wasn't in that much otherwise, and he died in 2012, but I love him with all my heart. He is literally one of my favourite actors and I will talk about him all day if given half a chance).
Anyway, please take those facts about the cast of the Bill with a pinch of salt bc I may not have remembered them right or whatever. I read things once and then wonder if I dreamed them, which is entirely possible.
Ok, I think I may have finally reached the point of insanity, but I've decided I'm just gonna make a post of all the people who the people ik irl have never heard of.
Part 1
Just David Cook reprimanding the creepy af original Bungle (played by John Leeson). He's pretty cool, he created Hetty Wainthropp and literally no one appears to have heard of him. Apart from Ian McKellen, but unfortunately I don't know Ian McKellen irl. He also appeared in The Bill 3 times if that makes any difference.
Mike Yarwood being cool w/ a pipe. Yes I go on about him all the time and no I don't care. He's the godfather of impressionism and anyone who slags him off can go away. I cropped out Harold Wilson because he was unnecessary.
David Frost. Yeah, I know right? Insane! People have never heard of David Frost. I wonder where the fuck they've been living because it certainly isn't in my world.
Russell Harty. Watched a documentary where all the celebrities were being horrible about him and got really fucking angry so just don't.
Keith Floyd. My first memory of him was on Saturday Kitchen and he was just sitting on a rock, cooking and drinking red wine from the bottle.
Tom Clarkson from Waterloo Road.
This dog I saved to my account and named Norman. Oh, and also Peter Purves. Ik, it's insane. How could anyone not know Norman?!
Dirk fucking Bogarde (y'all, ik. They're uncultured swines).
This carrot I found.
Joint rear of the year 1986 winners Michael Barrymore and Anneka Rice.

A BDay Request + 43 Things
I’ve been wanting to do this anyway, but today’s my birthday – first one since I started this blog last fall – and I wanted to ask everyone to tell me what your Garashir story is and give me a link. (Or just the name if you cannot find the link.) Leave it in the comments or message me. Later I’ll post all the links. And read them, if I haven’t already.
Meanwhile, here are 43 things about me, one for every year of my life. Some I’ve definitely mentioned, others not.
The earliest “crushes” I can remember in my life are Spock and the Tin Man (Wizard of Oz). Notably, both wore blue eyeshadow, which made me feel all fuzzy inside.
I grew up in northeast Massachusetts (New England) but have somehow lived in Georgia for the past 20 years (19 of those in Atlanta).
I’m 6 ft. tall and got to that height at age 12. (I was 5 ft. in 2nd grade already.)
Was severely bullied as a child (definitely just for being tall), going on through high school and while it was pretty horrible, had lasting effects, it’s had some positive too, like I am extremely empathetic and I never say nasty stuff to anyone ever.
Favorite movie: The Wizard of Oz (1939). Other favorites: The Third Man, Lawrence of Arabia, Wings of Desire, Young Frankenstein, Metropolis, Lord of the Rings, My Life as a Dog.
One of my dearest friends is British fantasy-scifi author Storm Constantine. (Rather a cult author, so not hugely well known, but if you’re into dark fic or are a goth or into weird fic or queer sci, you might know her.) I am actually her fiction editor (on her Wraeththu universe books) and we are currently working on our fifth short story anthology together. I’ve also visited her at her home in Stafford, England, I think six times now. I love her :)
I’m really big on international travel or, I should say, travel to Europe. As a teenager I spent a summer in Germany and after college I got hooked, to the point I’ve been over 20 times at least. Been to the England, Scotland, Germany and Italy multiple times – Germany by far the most often – and also Slovenia, Austria, Czechia, Netherlands, Belgium. My most recent trip was Berlin. For my most immediate travel plans (next year) I have in mind: Sicily, Bucharest (have a friend there), Scandinavia, Dublin, Budapest (friends there too).
Pretty much fluent in German, although not to the point I could write any decent fanfic :)
My eyes are true hazel.
I live in condo in a 104-year-old neo-Gothic skyscraper. It’s beautiful.
I’m actually terrified of the idea of going to or being in outer space.
I’m more intrigued by the mysteries of the ocean than space.
My B.A. was in journalism but I never used that degree professionally as an actual journalist. Instead I went into web development. But eventually with my current job (starting 10 years ago) I came back around to using my verbal & comm. skills like gangbusters.
For my work I spend a huge amount of my time promoting academic medical research.
I -love- black licorice. I, um, even have a Tumblr about it.
Back in college (UMass Amherst) I spent 2 years living in an all GLBTQ dorm. Yes, for real. THAT was an experience.
I’m a gray asexual. The part of me that is into people is bisexual.
Consider myself trans and/or gender nonconforming, bc in many ways I do not identify with the gender I was assigned at birth. For several years I had it in my head I was meant to be a man (outwardly, possibly with hormones or other physical changes) but gradually had a realization that this was utterly unnecessary.
I consider pretty much ALL clothes (my clothes) to be “drag.”
I don’t know how to do regular makeup Everything I do ends up being either like glam rock or drag queen style. Over the top is my style
On multiple occasions, my friends have been asked, out of my presence, if I am a trans woman. (Which I find flattering.)
In college I used to go into Boston completely in trans man type drag and would see how many times I could get sirred. (Answer: always. It was very skinny.) This now sounds unbelievable because…. see 21 above.
Over the past 8 years I’ve gained about 70 lbs. and as result I’ve switched to wearing dresses and “femme” type clothes almost all the time. Don’t have to worry about growing out of them nearly as much and I can get dressed in about 30 seconds. Also my outfits are usually flamboyant, so it’s kind of my own gender expression.
I’m kind of in love with my cats and I don’t care what people think of that.
I’m genetically immune to caffeine.
1/3 pint of beer is enough to get me drunk.
I love beer and my fav types tend to be extremely dark, opaque. Also 9%+ alcohol by volume. This plays interestingly into my susceptibility to alcohol (even regular beer).
My dad died 4 years ago and my mom (my favorite person IN THE WORLD) is 81. Mom is amazing and ever since Dad died we take awesome vacations together. Mom is is a total geek.
I’m the youngest of 5 kids and by FAR the youngest. The age spread is 16 years and my nearest sibling is age is 7 years older.
I hate hot weather. I live in the South. Go figure.
Crazy crazy Instagrammer.
I’ve known my two BFFs nearly 24 (!) years now, since the first month of freshmen year. One of them has been down here in GA with me 20 years, while the other was here for a bit but moves around. Been in Seattle for years and I see her when she comes to Atl for Frolicon and Dragon Con and stays with me.
My favorite “holiday” is Dragon Con.
This year will be the 10th year I march in the Dragon Con Parade in the “walking Periodic Table” as Beryllium.
Favorite post-70s bands/artists: David Bowie, Depeche Mode, Björk, NIN, The Cure, Queen, Beastie Boys, Einstürzende Neubaten, Sinead O’Connor, The Orb, Prince, The Smiths, Morrissey, Kraftwerk, Siouxsie Sioux and the Banshees.
I can listen to Philip Glass on infinite loop. (Which is funny)
Obsessed with Art Deco. Like… you have NO IDEA.
Pescatarian. But I have a rule whereby I can eat meat on holidays, on vacation and on my birthday. (Tonight: BBQ ribs.)
I love reading smut. I loathe watching porn. (When I was younger I would watch gay porn but in my mid-20s I just started to find it repulsive, watching anyway.)
As a teen and into college I was kind of a misogynist. Gender issues. But I am OVER IT.
Because I live in the City of Atlanta and in addition don’t drive, rely on public transit, I have spent the past 19 years in situations where I am frequently the only white person on a bus or train. Happens at least once a day. Given that I grew up in a town where there were maybe 2 black families per 35,000 people, this has rewired me.
I am virulently anti-fascist.
I seriously underestimated how hard it would be to get to 43. Like OMG.
