You never thought about kids, not in your line of work. 

The reasons people got into hunting were varied. Most of it was personal. For you, you just couldn’t deal with the knowledge of the supernatural world and not bother actually doing something about it. Even though you knew that doing so would likely mean a young death.

This is why you stopped thinking about kids; you’d likely never have them. But being stuck in Leavenworth, WA, with Castiel gave you the same kind of glee. You imagine parents likely got excited to watch their children experience Christmas for the first time. That’s the same joy you felt watching the angel observe all the twinkling lights around you. 

The difference is that Castiel is not your child. And if he was, that’d be gross, considering you are harboring a major crush on him. 

Maybe you should’ve thought of a different analogy. 

You had been hunting with the Winchesters for a bit now. You all ran into each other on a ghost case. Your hula hoop of salt made their jaws drop, and the next thing you know, Sam is inviting you to hunt with them. You didn’t know that Castiel was a regular member of that group. 

Even in his vessel, you could sense something otherworldly about Cas. There was a sort of preternatural stillness, an ancient gleam in his eyes otherwise juxtaposed by his lack of knowledge of human nature. It was so easy to get lost in his curiosity. Sometimes, when he looked at you, you couldn’t help but feel his gaze observing every molecule you were. Like he saw you better than anyone else. 

Right now, you felt like you saw him better than anyone else, the angel so ready to give up everything for humanity. It was late, and snow was falling. You had all decided to take an extra night in Leavenworth after a Krampus case had gone wrong (don’t ask). Also, Baby was struggling to get out of the snow, and Dean was too wired up to ask for help. Fortunately, it was the Christmas season, and Leavenworth knew it. The town looked like the North Pole. You weren’t surprised it was a tourist attraction, not when there were actual reindeer and Bavarian-style buildings. The cup of hot cocoa you had earlier solidified this town as Christmas incarnate. 

“Aren’t you cold?” you asked, watching Cas catch more and more snowflakes on him. He just shook them off. 

“I don’t get cold.”

“Lucky you, I’m freezing,” you shivered, wrapping your coat tighter around yourself. Your nose was ice cold, and your breath came out in puffs. Castiel frowned, walking back over to you. He shucked off his trench coat and put it over your shoulders. You felt your cheeks heat as he made sure you were adequately cocooned. The jacket was surprisingly warm. “Thanks,” you murmured.

“I do not want you catching a cold,” Castiel said. “I am ill-equipped to handle it.”

You laughed. His lips quirked for a second before settling into their normal neutral expression. You would give the world to see him smile. 

“I’m going to go inside and get something to drink. Are you going to stay out here?”

“No, I will join you,” Castiel nodded. He paused for a second. “Is that alright? Dean often tells me people want alone time.”

You melted.

“Of course, it’s alright, c’mon,” you nudged him with your shoulder, still bundled in his jacket. You walked the short distance back to the inn. The idea of mulled wine sounded appealing at this moment. The inside was a picturesque log cabin with a roaring fire. You let out a sigh of relief from the warmth and were able to return Cas' jacket to him. You also were able to remove your hat and scarf. You probably looked like a sweaty mess, but you didn’t care. You chose a seat by the fire and tucked your legs under you as Cas came to sit across. A waitress came over a second later, and you ordered mulled wine for the both of you. 

“I don’t really drink,” Castiel added after the waitress left. 

“You can just tell me what the chemical compounds are,” you shrugged. Castiel looked out of place in his suit and tie. And yet, the light from the fire accenting his bone structure, contrasting the blue in his eyes, was enough to think that this was where he was always meant to be. 

He was frowning at the tree. 

“Why do humans put angels on their trees?” he inquired, brows furrowed. You looked up to see a stereotypical angel planted on top of the Christmas Tree. It had a little horn and everything. 

“I think people like to imagine there’s someone watching over us, that we’re not alone,” you sighed, turning back to him. “Even if it isn’t true.”

“It’s true for some,” Castiel murmured. “I watch over you.”

You felt your heart skip a beat, especially as Castiel looked at you with those intense eyes again. You had to wonder if he was really this clueless, or if he knew exactly the effect he had on you. You watched him lick a sauce off his fingers once, and it was enough to make you excuse yourself from the room. 

The mulled wine arrived a moment later. 

The spices were a perfect blend, and you felt yourself sink deeper into your chair as the alcohol invaded your system. Castiel took a sip and nodded. 

“Mostly ethanol and water,” Castiel sipped it again. You grinned as he listed off the ingredients. He would ruin anyone who wanted to keep a secret ingredient. 

“Last call for sleigh rides!” a man dressed as an elf called out, having come in from the front door. You perked up immediately. You had never been on a sleigh ride before but have always wanted to. You have a soft spot for horses. 

“We should do that,” you jumped up, grabbing Castiel’s sleeve. He spilled the wine, but you were already out the door. You barely had time to throw on your hat and scarf as you were running after the elf man. Castiel, to his credit, kept up with you. 

“One sleigh ride, please!” you said, breathless. The man just looked you up and down and then took your money as you jumped with glee. 

“What is a sleigh ride?” Castiel questioned when he caught up. He was not out of breath. 

“You get to sit in a sleigh and get pulled around by horses.”

“And this is entertainment?”

“It’s serene,” you smiled, getting good luck at the horses pulling your sleigh. They were beautiful Clydesdales, and even in their enormity, you weren’t intimidated. They were beautiful. Cas didn’t ask any further questions as you piled into the sleigh. You took one of the blankets provided and put it over your lap, bundling it up. The sleigh was going to pull you through the town, emphasizing the light installations and ice sculpting competition. The cold kissed your cheeks as the sleigh started moving. 

You both sat in companionable silence as the sleigh ride started. It was so quiet, and you welcomed that peace. When did you ever receive peace such as this?

“I understand now,” Cas nodded. “Why you were excited over this.”

“It’s beautiful,” you whispered. Someone had built an igloo, and you took your phone out to take a picture. Castiel just looked at you.

“I don’t measure beauty the same way humans do.”

“How do you measure beauty?” you inquired. Some part of you was worried that whatever he was going to say would dash your dreams. 

“By someone’s soul.”

That wasn’t the answer you were expecting, and you just blinked in response. It shouldn’t be shocking. You just never expected that maybe he would never see your face, only your soul. You wondered if your soul was beautiful. 

You didn’t say anything as you passed through a light tunnel, the brightness contrasting with the night sky. You could fall asleep out here if you let yourself. 

“What are you thinking?” Cas asked. He noticed your silence. 

“Is my soul…?” you trailed off. You barely had the guts to say anything at all. Castiel’s gaze softened as if he understood. 

“Your soul is like the North Star,” he answered simply. You kept looking at him. “It’s what one needs to follow to get themselves home.”

He was full of surprises tonight. You don’t remember anyone saying anything like that, especially not to you. How absurd was it that the first person to truly see you was not a person at all? Your heart picked up pace. 

“Cas…” you murmured. He never looked away from you, was never shy. It was unnerving and intense. He would never be too scared and proceed to look away. You couldn’t help but look at his lips. He noticed. His hand came up and brushed loose hair away from your beanie, his fingers somehow still warm as they brushed your freezing cheeks. You sucked in a breath. 

“I do not understand human courtship,” he whispered. “I would be interested in you showing me.”

You understood; how could you not? He just called you his home. You closed the distance between you two, going slow until you weren’t slow at all. Your hand cupped the back of his head, pulling him into you. You kissed him like you needed him to kiss you. Fortunately, Castiel was a quick learner. He nipped your lips and kissed your teeth like he had been doing it his whole life. You would sell your soul to kiss him for eternity, just like this. His hand was firm on your hip like he was afraid to touch anywhere else. You wished he would touch you everywhere. 

You had to pull away for air, even if he tried to chase after your lips afterward. 

“You’re a quick study,” you breathed a slight smile on your lips. Castiel grinned a true goofy smile that you had been yearning to see. You were the cause of that style. 

“Anything for you,” he responded. 

He kissed you until the sleigh ride was over, and the worker was rolling his eyes. He kissed you when you made it back to the inn, and you felt like you could feel his wings holding you closer. You would stay with him until you weren’t able to because with him, you were finally home.

i also rly like the idea that kadaj is more human/childlike than seph and post ac au when seph returns she returns with memories of having been kadaj. with all the insecurity and teenagedness and rawness of being removed from a godly existence. (in a similar way to where some ppl believe jesus/god in christian belief incarnated as a human to know what it was like) And also with the memory of being held by cloud in that way 🤠👍

Also @dykesferatu has a big brain beautiful interpretation where kadaj contains elements of cloud (the insecurity, desire for (motherly) validation, desire to prove himself etc) and is proof that seph contains elements of cloud the same way cloud contains elements of seph (s cells and stuff) I LOVE IT A LOT... THEYRE MIXED UP..... They're forever leaving scars and parts of themselves inside each other... Guh....

Introducing Yuuka!

The world is split into many nations, each nation a nation of different things(such as Teyvat in Genshin), the place we are starting at today is the nation of war(Natlan parallel)...

Meet the Fujiwara family!

The family consists of father Ken Fujiwara(5'5), a successful Japanese businessman, and Amelia Fujiwara(6'5), also know as a retired successful French model and singer Lana Amelia, and their five children.

Their eldest, the deceased gang leader with a heart and personality as bright as her rainbow dyed hair, Nanaka Fujiwara(oc), who died to protect her family and especially siblings from the rival gangs, Nanaka is practically if Mavuika(Genshin Impact) and Princess Celestia(MLP) had a lovechild who was literally Furina de Fontaine(Genshin Impact) incarnate- She also dressed very similar to Mavuika, she is now a high ranking angel in the celestial realm known as "The second Lilith" or just simply "Eve".(not an inactive character, instead an op one!-) As previously stated Nanaka has long straight black hair dyed rainbow and she is a somewhat terrifying height of 6'2-

Next, the triplets, the eldest being Mai-Chiya "MC" Fujiwara, the middle being our lovely Yuuka Fujiwara and the youngest Yui Fujiwara, each of the sisters was extremely traumatized by the death of their sister, Yui loosing her will to live and dream, and MC and Yuuka loosing their faith in humanity, as Nanaka was dying Yui held her body crying as MC and Yuuka "put an end" to the people who killed her. MC is the shortest of the three at 5'2, having curly black hair that she dyes pastel pink and purple and she's the only one of them to have their fathers more tan skintone as all the others have their mothers pale skintone and her body type is "thick fit". Yuuka is the tallest of the three at an impressive 5'9, they have short black hair and dress and act so masculine many people make the joke that she's "The other Fujiwara son", they have a very short and erratic temper that for some reason Grim is the only one other than her sisters who can calm her. Yui is between her older sisters at 5'5, she's usually one of the first family members you'd meet and you would definitely think she's the tallest of the family until you meet Yuuka, Nanaka or Amelia(no real appearance descriptors bcs it's pretty much as canon).

The youngest of the family is the only son, Azrael Fujiwara(oc), born with strange eyes and half black, half blonde hair, he's ultimately the strangest of the Fujiwara family, some believe him to be the result of Lilith's sins, a demon, an angel, or just a monster, and he has to agree with the monster part.

Aah sorry I’m so late this month! I really appreciate the way this chapter explained things to us super clearly. And I was pretty spot on about how Mika and Yuu are basically the same soul. They both come from the original Yuu orb but one is Mikaela incarnated in new bodies known as our Yuichiro, and the other entered og Mikaela’s vessel. I guess it makes sense that the Yuu orb is an independent soul since it created Mikaela who is also an independent soul. Would that make our Yuu and Mika the only ppl on Earth whose souls weren’t directly made by God? And where is the Yu orb currently? Is The First still using it in his plans? Could our Mika connect back to it? Is the power of the orb why only Mika or humanity can be resurrected? Why hasn’t God gotten rid of the damn orb of darkness?!?

Anyways, I’m curious to know just how successful Guren and Ferid were with their memory search. I mean we’ve been knew that they were working together, but seeing Guren plotting in the vampire city really hammers in how much he manipulated Yuu. Poor Yuichiro really saw him as a rescuer when Guren is the one who put Mika and him in that situation :(

Side note: It’s so funny that Yuu is having an existential crisis and Mika is just like “Obviously the two of us are gonna runaway and be together 🙄 duh.” But it’s also kinda heart wrenching bc Yuu realizes that Mika is changing and I have no idea how they’re gonna deal with that.

And I'm sorry this response is late! I was all ready with thoughts but got busy.

Are they the same soul though? I didn't see it that way. They're two separate beings who have basically just swapped identities. Their souls are tied together, yes, and there's definitely some element of the Yuu orb being the one allowing at lest Mika to reincarnate. Not sure that makes them the same soul. But really, I think it leads into your later questions. Where is the Yuu orb now? Because if it's still living as a separate entity somewhere out there, I guess this wouldn't make our Mika that Yuu exactly.... but that Yuu wasn't an angel or anything like that, so how did it become human? Same way the angels did in that it just put its soul in a human body? How would Sika Madu react to that happening? Also, you point out something really interesting because yeah. I think you're right in that these two are the only ones who weren't created by God. They're both Sika Madu's creations. Huh. Lastly, you're so right. Why did God not obliterate the Yuu orb? Did God and the enforcers just not know about it? Wild.

I'm also curious about Guren and Ferid's memory search. Do they know the truth about the past? And yeah, it's sad to think about. Yuu really has just been a pawn this entire time. Then again, a ton of people in the story have. But yeah. It's a bit different here.

However, there's something I wanna point out timeline-wise about all this. Unless I'm remembering wrong, Yuu and Mika were snatched up pretty much immediately after the catastrophe happened. At the time of the catastrophe, Guren knew nothing. He was just a pawn. Krul is the one who snatched up all the kids, and the one who talked to Krul and brought her in on all the plans going on was Mahiru. Unless the timeline is being sorta retconned (entirely possible), there's no way Guren could have planned for Yuu and Mika to be in the vampire city. It'd have to be Krul and Mahiru's doing. This can still work sense since all four of them (I'm including Ferid) are working together. It would just mean that Guren wasn't involved all that much in these early plans. HOWEVER! At this point, we have no idea when those two sides joined up (Guren and Ferid vs Mahiru and Krul) and Resurrection at 19 would sorta indicate that that alliance seemingly hadn't yet fully formed since Guren's really only talked to Ferid about things.... so. Yeah, really this scene confused me a bit. I'm thinking there are minor retcons afoot, but I guess we'll see ANYWAYS this is all to say that I'm not trying to be a big "Guren did nothing wrong" voice. He's done a lot wrong, but with what we currently know of the timeline, Yuu and Mika being in the underground is probably one of the few things he isn't responsible for and is just taking advantage of instead.

It's an interesting little dilemma isn't it. It kinda feels like Yuu learning the truth about everything made him more serious on the surface, at least for a little bit. Prior to them jumping into their memories, Yuu was so "idk what we're gonna do but we'll figure it out no problem!!" and he's still like that, but his whole "if we die we're dead even if we're reincarnated" thing just felt so much more serious. The thing with his feelings about Mika changing goes along with this too. I wonder if it's something that'll persist. I kinda doubt it since Yuu's whole thing is being carefree on the surface, but I guess we'll see. Side note: They don't know how they're going to fix things any more than we do LOL

what r demons like in sister virtue's story...............

YIPPIEEE Ok i can give you a fast n loose rundown bc admittedly im still working things out but

demons (and hell as a whole, and all things Diabolic) are a vital part of the theological ecosystem. their difference from angels comes in their passion; both are creatures born out of passion, but angels turn their passion outwards towards God, and demons turn their passion inwards towards themselves. Angels may be divine order incarnate, but they're also detached from individual needs and lose nuance, or spend decades arguing sides on the big picture. Demons represent the other half of what humans need-- a healthy bit of chaos, temptation, self indulgence, etc. And, naturally, the same way an extreme celestial leaning can be bad, the same goes for things like sin. All things in moderation, as it goes.

Hell is ruled by 7 princes in 7 layers, SALIGIA (Superbia, Acedia, Luxuria, Ira, Gula, Invidia, Avaricia aka the deadly sins), which are reborn into different Incarnations (or new lives), but retain a general stream of memories across them. Most of the circles have a rather corporate structure to them, but it depends heavily. Demons are also much more likely to be ambassadors to the mortal realm and/or just be there for shits and giggles.

All demons have horns and a tail, and typically take on features correlating with the native element and animal of their circle. The only exception is Pride/Lucifer, who lacks horns due to the fact his original iteration was a fallen angel. He is also the only one who remembers God, and is the de-facto leader of the Princes, followed by the two other Sins of the Spirit [Envy and Wrath], and then by the remaining four.

There's also Limbo, which is lead by the Archduke King Minos, who also experiences iterations. He has a three headed dog named Cerberus, and is the one who gifted Pluto his hellgate ability as a proposal gift. Limbo is more of a ... fae-realm esque situation.

All beings and "magic" in this theological structure run on belief. It's not so much things like the cross or prayers themselves that expel demons, but rather the faith a person has in their ability to do so.

one of my biggest hyperfixations is like, theology and mythology and esp more esoteric and/or occult belief systems. I'm not religious myself, I just find the subjects fascinating for a bunch of different reasons. So when I found out my old highschool was founded by the inventor of anthroposophy and that the whole school was built around teaching and raising children anthroposophically it was like finding the best worst rabbit hole to get lost down

bc it's so buckwild but also no one wants to listen to me rant abt how the founder of my old school believed in reincarnating universes and reincarnating humans and innate psychic ability and karmic debt and fucking wild metaphysics

Like a little snippet is that he believed that we are on the third reincarnation of the entire universe and that during each incarnation the predominant life force (humans for this one) have a responsibility to reach psychic enlightenment so that when the entire universe dies we will evolve into a new star as a sort of mix between becoming one giant hivemind and also becoming an angel by turning into a star. The previous incarnation was a humanoid species living on the moon that failed to reach enlightenment and this is the source of Lucifer and "demons" which are actually all just the spectral energy of the previous predominant species/life force who are trying to piggyback our journey to enlightenment so they can become a star too. This means that they are not inherently evil, but rather that they try to manipulate human beings into both reaching their enlightenment and ending the universe faster so they can become a star like they've always wanted

Day 21+22: Misery is basically my supervillain oc who's actually a parasite that has fused to the corpse of a former hero and now is on a quest for vengeance and love. Lover is their love interest and has nooo name but he's a vigilante superhero which used to specialize in the work Angel (Misery's hero name) used to do. Day 24+25: Ah. Ocs I had since I was 11. I got them as adoptables (free!) and then drew them twice. Their basic dynamic is Lemon fritters always got hurt getting impulsively into fights and Redcross having to patch her up afterwards.

Day 26: Haventhorn or also known as Havenstar used to be the secret leader in an warrior cats rp I was in that later imploded and I left out of stress. He is also walking anxiety on legs and number 1 Starclan hater. He had a plot to destroy the moonpool as he believed Starclan was the reason why the clans where fighting. A brief reprieve and the one cat he can trust however is his deputy Palestar which they have a sweet romance where they're basically married but never acknowledge it.

Day 27: Popcorn is also a warrior cats rp oc but this time a medicine cat from Clownclan. She's honestly depressed and move through life with a distinct apathy for everything. However she is incredibly dedicated to her work even if its to the point of being a menace to her clan to keep them healthy. Has a huge crush on her childhood friend Ottermask of Paddleclan but knows that he will never return her feelings both because he doesn't feel the same way but also even if he did he's too proper a warrior to break the code. Which is why she fell for him so she understands but also it means she is in perpetual heartbreak.

So Azalea has a drag persona named Onyx, and helped out Davia and Luca during their arc in S4 by showing them xyr character and how xe uses him. Onyx's signature look is anything black with white diamond contacts and an emerald-studded choker. During the later parts of the season, Luca has dreams where Onyx appears to him and picks on him about his perceived inability to be a good partner, or even just friend to azalea. Later on it’s revealed he was just speaking on Luca’ own insecurities, and acts as a friend to him once he overcomes them on his own terms.

In season 5, Onyx most often appears when Luca is at his dance classes. He gives him subtle support, while still being a sort of representation of what’s going on in his head. When Luca starts to realize he has a slight crush on Riley, Onyx is the one to tell him to watch himself with her, as while he can’t stop anything he does, he emphasizes that they both know how important Luca is to Azalea (I kept his crush on her in my canon bc it’s human to have attraction to others even when in a committed relationship, it’s just what you do about it that shows your character.). He acts as the Angel/devil on Luca’s shoulder in regards to Riley, replacing the romantic themes he would originally have with her with reminders that he has someone much better waiting for him. It’s sorta how I deal with Luca having a canon love interest, and I get to play with Onyx giving him grief for it lolol. Also, that begenning scene in S5E9 where Luca is dancing with Riley in a fantasy sequence? In my canon it's Onyx instead.

Onyx as Azalea’s drag persona, he’s energetic, confident, sporadic, and loves to show off and have fun. He retains these traits when in Luca’s head, but is more snarky and chaotic. Since he represents Luca's inner thoughts, or at least those that pertain to azalea and his relationship with him, he has a tendency to be brutally honest with him. Yet, he also acts as a friend in some ways, trying to guide Luca in the right direction. I have fun playing around with Onyx in his aspect, not only is it fun to see this version of Azalea who has more elements of xyr original incarnation, it's a way for me to work around Luca's canon interests, and keep him connected to Azalea while working through these plot points. Again, this version of Onyx is just in his head, but I think it's a cool way to represent his thoughts towards Azalea, and to further divert my canon from that of the show.

"Moon Cat" is one of his 'daughters' a la yk how greek gods have children and family trees and stuff but it's the God Version of genealogy lmao and her job is to safekeep and supervise magic. she lives in the moon from where she can see all the goings on of catkind. "Demon Cat" is Moon Cat's favorite sibling, and she helped the benevolent demon ascend from Hell, after which he became the guardian of the Heaviside Layer. you could say he's an "alumnus" of heaven AND hell see?? see???? XD

my cats universe does not have a Quaxo lmao. Im familiar with the trope that Mistoffelees is like...Quaxo's alter-ego, or his showman/stage name, or his final form, etc. etc. etc. I think it's an interesting idea but it is simply this: I do not like the name Quaxo phonetically and I also think it just doesn't suit the character. like to me...that is Mistoffelees. 😂 Im big on names and phonetics and that is the primary arbitrary reason I never entertain the notion of using the london-based ensemble moniker pffttt.

I don't want to also name the Demon Cat Mistoffelees because I want to avoid creating the impression that the Demon Cat and Mistoffelees are one in the same; Mistoffelees isn't a demon, he is a domestic shorthair cat haha, but he's imbued with the demon's essence and powers...or like think how in some branches of abrahamic mythos, Jesus Christ was the human incarnation of the archangel Michael. but in that interpretation, Jesus Christ himself isn't an angel and doesn't retain Michael's memories.

so anyway, I'm entertaining a few ideas about what to call him. yes I could go the obvious route and name him after Mistoffelees's meta namesake Mephistopheles but needless to say I'm not married to that idea. (although I like how it does remind me of Megatron naming himself after Megatronus Prime tho...like yeah I just cut a syllable or two out of the Original Version hahaha) I've also thought about referencing Gadreel or similar variants / mythological beings who reflect Demon Cat's vocation of guarding Heaviside the way Gadreel was supposed to guard Eden (I think?) I've thought of Enoch, Seraphim, Grigori...on and on lmao. I don't think I can use the name Gadreel itself, as much as I like it because unfortunately...Supernatural has it in a chokehold XD

re: the idea that Tugger is like a young Deutoronomy. I'm irresolute regarding how Deutoronomy was as a young cat (which was literally centuries ago like...idk if even he remembers XD) but a lot of Tugger's iconic idiosyncrasies partly stem from his turbulent upbringing in my mind. idk it's a combination of nature and nurture.

addendum: regarding Mistoffelees's parentage/lack thereof/Deutoronomy (murray voice) is NOT the father. the poetical aspect of his heroic moment in the show is that, in the grand scheme of things, Mistoffelees was the answer to Deutoronomy's prayer to save the sacrality of Magic Itself--- but then, not having an inkling of that in any case, Mistoffelees saved Deutoronomy as a result of his love for him on a completely personal level. ergo the "mistoffelees is the answer to Deutoronomy's prayer" being a double entendre <3

yes. :' ) I've been going back and forth for weeks weighing different scenarios for the cats' parentages, along with explanations for why Mistoffelees has magic and I THOUGHT I settled on something. but then I listened to Ed Kingsley Wade's (Tugger UK tour 2022) episode of wcd and it got me rethinking a lot of things. partly it validated an earlier idea I had about Mistoffelees not exactly having """PARENTS""" per se. and also I've just been hearing so much about the de facto canonical interpretation of Munkustrap and Tugger being the biological sons of Deutoronomy, that I started entertaining that notion too because it began to feel blasphemous to believe otherwise. 😂 and yes that doesn't technically preclude the possibility of Mistoffelees also being Deutoronomy's son but I can't have Tugger and Mistoffelees being brothers for obvious reasons lmao. and I couldn't go the Son Of Macavity route for...the exact same reason.

So you see, these are the mental gymnastics that have been plaguing my grey matter lately. I'll include a slightly more comprehensive explanation of my latest hcs in answer to the question Why Does Mistoffelees Have Magic? under the cut lol

basically. all cats used to be magical --- further validating the propensity for older civilizations to idolize them.

Edit: I had a whole paragraph here that got deleted somehow but all you need to know is, along comes a particularly powerful magical cat who does the Isildur/Anakin thing and attempts to basically usurp the Cat Diety of Magic, who lives in the moon, that I call Moon Cat until I can think of a better name. He amasses a cultlike following.

the Isildur Cat's attempt to wrest godlike magical power (with a following that he has amassed over time...convincing a bunch of people that his ascension was prophetic...yk cult shit) essentially results in a war and the totality of magic was becoming volatile and corrupted. There's a big battle something something and at the end of the day, Moon Cat sees no other option to save the sacrality of Uncorrupted Cat Magic by gatekeeping what is left of it, so she siphons her own essence into three stones (I call them Moon Stones but I intend to come up with a cooler name) and assigns three different trusted Keepers (Old Deuteronomy is one of them...so yeah he's from Ancient Times) to protect the Stones, and then sends them off to vastly different parts of the world. possession of a Stone bestows immortality to the Keeper so that they can guard it ad infinitum. In the meantime, as a result of this development, a magical cat will never again be born and magic will never exist among cats as it had before.

fast forward centuries, along comes Macavity, one of the many sons of Deuteronomy. he shows sensitivity towards, and a propensity for, magic --- not in its most literal sense a la Mistoffelees, but more in a sense that he's keen to its potency and gravitates towards spiritual avenues in a way not dissimilar to Coricopat and Tantomile. he'd have mystical talents, like prescience/precognition, minor manipulations of extant fire, attuneness to weather, etc. but he couldn't conjur, or summon, or materialize matter or anything like that. Deuteronomy was aware of his son's Uniqueness and chalked it up to inheritance---a little bit of Deuteronomy's magicalness getting passed down. young Macavity, though, wasn't keen to take his heightened senses lightly, and became more frustrated and quixotic the more he attempted to make sense of it. seeing how the pressure was building in Macavity, Deuteronomy sat him down and explained to him the legend about the Moon Cat and the Isildur Cat and the Stones and all that, in an attempt to elucidate on why cats can't be truly magical anymore. he was hoping this knowledge would put Macavity at ease but instead it horribly backfired :D

okay so long story short! Macavity attempts to wrest Deuteronomy's Moon Stone, fails, and then flees to quest for one of the other three Keepers. it's a whole thing but all you have to know is he does find one, and basically...extorts the Stone from him. (it had to do with exploiting the Keeper's romantic feelings for a mortal yadda yadda yadda. master of manipulation, the napoleon of crime! Macavity knows how to get what he wants!)

EDIT: Forgot to mention. this is from where Macavity gets HIS power...but since he's not a truly Magical Cat and because he's Evil and Shouldn't Have The Stone, he's basically destroying himself by using it to wield magic. and he's also corrupting the Stone itself. but obviously he doesn't care or even fully understand what he's doing to himself.

Deuteronomy, beyond deeply troubled by all this shit, sacrifices a sizeable chunk of his magic to send a prayer up to Everlasting via priority mail. basically he's like STOP I fucked up STOP Send Help STOP

his prayer reaches, and Moon Cat and the other Cat Deities senses a Disturbance In The Force. they're like shit. fuck. it's happening again. initially Moon Cat's plan was to amass the dregs of her remaining power to create a sentinel that could potentially stop Macavity, but that would officially kill her off, and then Jellicle Moon would cease to exist and the essence of the entire cat race would be fucked, so...that would be counterproductive. Moon Cat's little brother, a benevolent Demon Cat (I need to work on names 😩) whose job it is to guard the Heaviside Layer, volunteers to do the job instead. he's warned that if he gives up his essence/magic to incarnate into a corporeal form, he won't remember his previous life and won't be able to return to the Heaviside Layer. although obviously this is saddening, he accepts the consequences and heroically allows Everlasting to corporealize his essence into a bona fide...Original Conjuring Cat.

enter the boi! Mistoffelees wasn't 'born' per se, he more kind of...landed? spawned? lmfaooo and so he has no memories of parents or littermates and spends the greater chunk of his life just thinking he was abandoned because he was the runt of the litter.

Mistoffelees is imbued with the fruits of Demon Cat's sacrifice, which is where his magic comes from. he's his own person tho, a truly material Jellicle Cat, so as foretold he retains none of Demon Cat's memories or personality or feelings and so on and so forth. he just has a deep seated instinct that he's...Different™ and has a unique (nonetheless tragic) insight/connection to the Heaviside Layer, where he knows he can never go. he also develops a unique father/son-esque bond with Deuteronomy, because Mistoffelees is, after all, the literal answer to Deut's prayers, and because Deut hasn't felt the special warmth and spiritual connection inherent between Magical Cats in centuries. neither Deut nor Mistoffelees realize this for a while tho...it's during the events of the actual musical that Deut realizes what Mistoffelees is.

Moon Cat keeps her eye on him, hoping he can fulfill his destiny of stopping Macavity from fucking up everything for everybody. no pressure!

Alright, she’s been mentioned a lot but not shown up yet, the cornerstone of the whole canon’s myth arc: Diana of Themyscira aka Diana Prince aka The Wonder Woman from Paradise Island. Buckle in, bc she’s kinda the key to the whole thing.

Born in 1900 on Themyscira to Queen Hippolyta*, Diana was among the group known as “Century Babies” alongside other future luminaries like Jenny Mei Sparks, Elijah Snow, Samuel Zhao, Alan Scott, and others. Blessed by Amazon patron deity Ares, War’s truce with the warrior women when come to a crashing end when he broke with the isolationist Greco-Cosmic pantheon and re-entered the world to begin one of his greatest projects: The Great War, quickly consuming Europe in an attempt at apocalyptic bloodshed to fuel his own power and incarnate as an immortal god-king (yikes, right?)

Ferried from her island home at the age of 14 by American Col. Stephen Trevor Sr. (*quick note I feel compelled to add since leaving it unstated could cause issues, I’ve split Steve into two characters--Steve Jr fights in WWII, natch--but obvs there’s no romantic relationship whatsoever between Diana and Steve Sr.), Diana entered the conflict as “America’s Wonder Girl” a so-called “World Wonder” who cut through Central Power forces, remember even decades later by German soldiers as an angel of death. Four years of almost uninterrupted violence and death ended with Diana’s murder of Ares in his guise as a British MP and her disappearance from public life.

It wouldn’t be until October of 1941 that Diana would return, now known as the “Wonder Woman” and participate in the action of WWII. Inspired by her WWI compatriots, Diana made the pitch to the US Government to create a league of other empowered individuals to bring about a swift end to the war and spurn on an untold brand of peace in its wake. Diana’s request was...summarily denied. It was too expensive, the required individuals secretive and difficult to locate, and idea of a group of comparable power to Diana’s own scared elected officials.

Balking at the cowardice of these leaders of Man’s World and unsuccessful with other governments, Diana went about seeking out extraordinary individuals with a taste for justice on her own. In short order, the loose collective of fellow wonders was formed, based in Coney Island and referring to themselves as The Justice Society of America. While the war raged on, the JSA fought their own war against the supernatural horrors and superhuman threats awoken by Nazi occultism and the lingering influence of Ares’ involvement in the previous World War.

It was around this time that Diana became involved with Etta Candy and the Holiday Girls, as well as Col. Steve Trevor Jr., son of the man who had brought here to the shores of Europe so long ago. Alongside these allies, Diana was introduced to one of her greatest foes and a threat to the very fabric of her reality: the lovecraftian gangster-actor known only as Johnny Sorrow. A faceless Nyarlathotep in a crimson suit claiming to be the anointed archangel of an insane alien god called The King of Tears. Allegedly a fellow century baby, Sorrow’s influence would push the horror of the twentieth century to such stark ends that Diana would retreat from public life again in the wake of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

No one would hear from Wonder Woman again for decades as “Wonder” itself fell out of common usage to denote superhumans in popular lexicon, HUAC would finally dismantle the JSA, groups like Challengers of the Unknown, the Sea Devils, Planetary, S.T.O.R.M. and early iterations of Task Force X and the Secret Six would take their place in navigating humanity’s place in a larger universe of magic and technology few of them could even begin to understand.

It was during this lost period that Diana could advantage of Themyscira’s hyper-advanced technology and magic to explore beyond Man’s World and into space, time, and the multiversal Bleed. Later referred to by fellow Amazons and heroes as her “space pirate” phase, Diana’s time exploring the Bleed would be one of the earliest modern interactions with beings like the New Gods and the Over-Monitors, as well the King of Tears’ wider pantheon such as The Empty Hand, the Cosmic Brainiac, and the Lantern-Maker Volthoom.

It was only during the appearance of Starro the Conqueror in Corto Maltese that Diana would not only reappear, but revive her dream of a league of heroes as she fought alongside heroes like Lantern Abin Sur, Atlanna of Atlantis, a young American scientist called “The Flash” and Bronze Wraith (Calvin Swanwick). While Sur and Atlanna wouldn’t team-up with the group again, their successors John Stewart and the Aquaman would answer Diana’s next call to battle as the Justice League.

*Jason, Diana’s twin brother, does exist in this version, just not as her brother bc tbh fuck that. He’ll show up down the line as Donna’s twin instead...and as the headverse’s Lord Chaos.

Lucifer is honestly incredibly grateful— the exchange program was going to be a handful from day one, so the fact that you’re not a troublemaker actually takes a huge weight off his shoulders. He doesn’t want to lean on you too heavily, since you are an exchange student, but he appreciates your willingness to help whenever needed. The fact that you’re more than willing to try and wrangle his brothers is already more help than he’d ever want to ask for. But it’s precisely because of your kind and helpful nature that he gets frustrated with you so easily— he told you not to go into the attic, and you’ve obeyed all his other orders except that one. It feels like more of a personal slight whenever you, of all people, defy him— but then you bring him coffee while he’s working late at night, and you smile at him, and he has trouble remembering why he was so angry.

At first, Mammon rolls his eyes and sticks his tongue out and makes all sorts of faces. This is the Devildom, they already got saddled with angels, they don’t need a goody-two-shoes human too. He spends a lot of time picking on you, calling you a few rude names, hiding your stuff— the fact that you refuse to use your pact to control him is confusing, so he just keeps trying to push the boundaries until you snap. The nicer you are, the meaner he tries to be; eventually, though, after you’ve spent a few months refusing to rise to his taunts, defending him when his brothers get cruel, he wants to respond in kind. He’s far too embarrassed to admit that he’s had a change of heart, so don’t call too much attention to his new behavior, because he’ll get aggressive again when he’s flustered.

Leviathan is, as expected, incredibly nervous around you. Especially after spending centuries locked away, learning to interact with new people can be terrifying; the fact that you’re so kind and respectful is something he deems suspicious. For the first few weeks, he refuses to eat with everyone else, just because you’ll be there— when you start bringing his portion and leaving it outside his door, he’s skittish and refuses to let you in. You never try to push for interaction when it’s clear he’s uncomfortable, and he slowly grows to hate that too— he finds himself drawn to you because you’re so understanding, and he’s never felt that way about anyone. It scares him. He doesn’t want to get attached because he knows you’ll be leaving soon, but still— meeting you feels like a miracle he’s not allowed to have.

Satan is wary at first, but he warms up to you very quickly; his brothers are chaos incarnate, and you’re quick to try and piece their family back together. Many of the others brush him off on the rare occasions he tries to form connections— but you’ll sit and listen to him as he talks, and you’re always attempting to help him organize his shelves, and he can bounce endless ideas off of you and get great feedback. He recognizes very quickly that he’s gotten more attached to you than he should, hoping you’ll be able to control his anger when even he can’t— you’re a calming presence, and with the kind of life he lives, he relies on that.

Asmodeus will very much find a way to take advantage of your kindness— you want to be polite, so when he tries to drag you out for shopping or a spa day, it’s difficult to say no. his brothers are all more rough-and-tumble than he is, so he loves having you around, as gentle as you are; you’re a much softer presence that he enjoys spending time with. He talks a lot, about all sorts of things, and his brothers rarely listen; he’s comfortable around you and thinks you’re adorable, but he also appreciates the attention you give him. That’s not entirely in a self-serving manner— very few people see past the facade he projects, and the fact that you’re gentle with the more vulnerable him is deeply appealing.

Beelzebub falls in love almost instantly. While his brothers aren’t quite as harsh on him as they are on Mammon, he is pretty sensitive, and they’re still incredibly rough with him. At the same time, Beel is well aware of his lack of control over himself. He knows it enrages the others when he eats the food they were waiting for, or when he accidentally sinks his teeth into the plates again— but on the other end of the spectrum, he goes wild if he’s not fed consistently, and he can’t control that either. You’re gentle with him right from the start, but the fact that you’re so mindful of his needs is something he’s never experienced before. Even when he does slip out of control, by this point he’s so attached to you that your very presence drags his mind right back— he doesn’t want to disappoint or upset you, ever.

Belphegor also appreciates your desire to help everyone, but of course, he’s got drastically different motives for doing so. You’re an adorable toy, and easy to play with— he doesn’t have to do much convincing at all to rope you into letting him out, and every time you get discouraged at your lack of progress, all he’s gotta do is bat his eyes and you’re reinvigorated. What he doesn’t realize is just how much you mean it when you say you’ll save everyone— you’re not willing to harm his brothers in your attempt to help him, and even after everything he puts you through, your arms are always open to him. It’s the first time in thousands of years that he’s been faced with the concept of forgiveness.

Short explanation: Thicker Than Water is about two young men traveling across the United States in an effort to stop the Apocalypse

Long explanation:

Thicker Than Water is a theology-inspired supernatural drama and romance. The story focuses on two men, Sam and Abe, as they travel across the US in an attempt to stop the Prophet, Sam's absent father, from bringing about the Apocalypse.

Sam, a human, is sought out by Abe, a demon, due to his connections with the Prophet, Hugh. Although Abe is originally from a prominent family in Hell, he has been living on Earth for quite some with his friend, Sariel, and their daughter, Izzy. He left home due to feeling inadequate, unable to use magic.

At first, Sam is skeptical about the idea of the Apocalypse but quickly comes around after nearly being slashed in half by Bethnael, a demon working with Hugh and Abe's brother. She's working with Hugh in the hopes of getting her brother to come home.

Hugh's motivations lie in the absence of the presence of God.

In TTW, godhood is passed down when the previous god, Incarnation, dies. The previous Incarnation, Adam, was obsessed with the idea of continuing his personhood and grasp on power through this passing down of power. He gathered a group of angels (the Seraphim) in an attempt to transfer his soul and power into them, effectively killing the bodys original inhabitant.

The strongest candidate, Lucifer, rebelled alongside Azazel, Belphegor, Samyaza, and Gadreel, Adam's son and Abe's father. They all became Cursed in the process, with Lucifer suffering the worst of it, with so much Divine power being transferred into their body that they became a sort of Incarnation themself.

The weakest candidate, Azrael, opted to stay behind to care for the Archangels, Adam's second try. This time, he planned to raise them from a young age in order to foster obedience. Thus, unlike the Seraphim, the Archangels were raised as siblings.

The strongest candidates this time were Michael and Uriel. Adam nearly got his wish, but before he could transfer his soul into one of them, Azrael killed him and became the new Incarnation. However, they promptly fled, fearing their body would break down and explode.

Which brings us back to the present. Heaven has no Incarnation occupying its throne and Hugh believes this is due to humanity being a blight upon the earth. In am effort to call God back, he plans to break the 7 seals and bring about the Apocalypse.

It's about mistakes being made and hurtful things never really leaving you. It's about love too and the need to make up with your sibling even if it might be too late. And sometimes it is.

Related, Belphegor was severely injured in the Fall, so much so that he was barely able to give birth bc his body was literally morphing into something other than angelic (draconic). Bc of this their kid, Belial, was born with more demonic features (big ass ears).

The sixth Seraphim, Metatron, had their soul so severely damaged by Adam that they're magic kept spilling out and contorting their physical form. So they got locked up in the grand library and now they stalk its many aisles.

In TTW, people in the Realm ("fantasy" land slightly removed from Earth. Not typically able to be entered by humans) have sort of layers to them. At the very centre is magic and then their soul and then their physical form (magic -> soul -> physical form).

Magic in its raw form is very volatile, but the soul acts a nullifier for oneself from their own magic. However, if the soul were to be damaged (a feat only really capable via Incarnations or the King of the Forest), then ones own magic becomes harmful, sort of poisoning you from the inside. Depending on the environment, you can also become beyond your physical form (think "biblically accurate" angels)

Thoughts about ralsei and his relation to the over story

i know a lot of people theorize that asriel and ralsei are related- which makes a ton of sense given that ralsei is an anagram and looks a lot like UT!asriel, but i think its a deliberate red herring. OR, asriel in deltarune looks completely different than asriel in undertale.

Susie, Noelle, and Berdly have all seen ralsei without his hat on, but none of them have commented on the implied resemblance, which makes me think that they don't actually look alike at all, and are truly not the same person.

unrelated but its also interesting to note that despite allegedly being a darkner, ralsei has no issue being in another dark world. also, why did only his castle and the surrounding area remain even though the rest of the dark world he lived in disappeared? and why are darkners from other dark worlds able to live there without issue? I feel like there's some connection to the "angel's heaven" mentioned in the intro, but im not sure WHAT that connection is

maybe the "Angel's Heaven" is the dark town? maybe the darkners and lightners used to physically coexist on the same plane, and were equals, but the darkners were sealed away into toys/games/etc to protect them from lightners for some unknown reason (like humans/monsters in undertale)? That could possibly explain why the overworld has churches worshipping the angel, but the dark world considers the angel to be a bad thing, since it's keeping them locked up and separated from other dark worlds. maybe ralsei is some incarnation of that angel, but has no memories of anything, so he actually ends up working against his original plan in order to banish the angel's heaven.

or, time for a crack theory

What if the "angel's heaven" is the overworld in deltarune? what if deltarune isn't an alternate universe, but rather the same universe, just several years in the future, and maybe everyone is under some sort of spell that made them forget the events of the first game (perhaps in a goodhearted attempt to help them forget their troubles)? there's several holes with this theory and hopefully that means its not true bc that would make me kinda sad lol

People who think that Dean Winchester would actually have romantic and sexual intentions towards his brother!!! Like the Sammy whom Dean practically raised like his own kid. I mean seriously??? Dean has always been protective of Sam like Jody is of Claire. There are even scenes where they have fought to stop Dean treating Sam like a child.

And as for choosing Sam over everything.. I think there was only one place where Dean had to choose Sam over Cas. Sam would be dying if Dean didn't do it and I solely support Dean for it. Then also Dean took care of human Cas pretty well right? He saved the angel's life.

Because Cas is important to him too!

As for the finale... did people forget that the actual story was a full team free will reunion and not the one we got??

SO TRUE ANON!!!!!! wincest is disgusting and i truly wish every wincestie a very die. we’ve said it a million times here at the dean studies department on tumblr dot edu but i’ll say it again, deans obsession with trying to keep sam safe stems from john drilling into deans head to keep his brother safe. sams health and safety take priority over his own. and like you said dean had to basically raise sam on his own. he chooses sam over everything bc that’s the core of his identity right there—keep his baby brother safe, and if he can’t do that he’ll unravel. which is problematic on its own, bc sam is an adult who can take of himself and dean has some major control issues, but i digress. none of this is romantic! it’s all from deans innate need to be The Caretaker, The Big Brother, The Parent.

I want Gin/Naoya, but the 8th days failed to deliver significant interaction between them. There should have been a boss battle with Gin wanting to beat him up, darnit. However, it’s stated that they did interact pregame and Naoya left a comp specifically so that Gin could fight Azuma (most likely this was a plan to save Aya that didn’t pan out, the way Naoya built a capability into the comps to save Amane that only pans out in some of the routes).

Or really, I want a Naoya pairing but Naoya is absolutely a sub as per Overclocked and that really limits the options.

There’s a comment from Naoya that implies he sees the high school age cast as more like elementary schoolers, due to Naoya being like five years younger than the actual universe. Every single chara close to Naoya’s age is a close relative except Metatron and Loki. I don’t see this as a dealbreaker bc this is mythology, the incest is canon/original flavor, but it’s still a consideration. 

Loki/Naoya is a common pairing, but having played Yuzu’s route, it’s very clear that Loki does not give a shit about Naoya, otherwise he wouldn’t have attempted to kill Naoya’s little brother, whose deaths Naoya has ISSUES about, for the ‘crime’ of boring him. It’s pretty clear this Loki is an Asshole God, and Naoya Has Issues About asshole gods. They may be using each other, but they are NOT friends. 

Lucifer/Naoya is an option given what Naoya says about him pre the Lucifer fight, but like, the Naoya in my head goes AU of canon here because he’s like ‘oh yeah that’s my uncle who I like but he doesn’t get humans at all’ rather than being a fanboy. Given the fact the two of them are similar in age and Naoya is really not being big on angels/being pro human, he’d be like ‘the King of Bel >>>> Uncle Lucy.’ Have they hooked up every so often in the past? Quite likely, but I can’t see Naoya developing actual feelings for someone who isn’t a human. 

Kazuya/Naoya... since Overclocked clarified that Naoya’s a sub, King of Bel/Naoya could definitely be a thing, but Naoya definitely sees Abel’s current incarnation as ‘a kid I’m responsible for’/counts him among the elementary schoolers and is being careful not to groom/manipulate him. Like, being cousins wouldn’t put Kazuya out of the running, Naoya clearly regarding Kazuya as underage would. 

So we need a human, not a teenager, that Naoya has some respect for, so they’d need to be pretty mature and responsible, and like, Gin is the character that canonically fits those criteria. Gin is Very in a relationship, so it’d need to be a threesome with Aya, but that is in no way a downside, it’d just be ‘Haru and Atsuro now have two dads and a mom.’  I wrote this but I want more.

There’d also be the potential foe yay of Gin blaming Naoya for Aya’s death.
