adrian: sooo he kind of word vomits all the time which means a lot of his compliments are just like. jumbles of words that don't really make sense. that being said because he does word vomit a lot and he's naturally very affectionate that means there's like. no end to the compliments even if they're really simple or dumb. i think probably the nicest compliment he's given me was probably saying for how often i act stupid im actually not and he appreciates that at least at times i can help him with things he has little to no experience with. even if he's older he's still got things he knows nothing about.

as for nicest compliment ive given him its really hard to say because im not much of the type to compliment, it either makes me feel really shy or like i dont know if the words im using are right so i just Dont. but i def try more with my partners bc ik its unfair to never compliment them, especially in adrian's case bc he does it all the time. i try to give him little ones just on his appearance and stuff but i think the one he probably appreciated most was just me telling him he's fucking fantastic at dnd. like dming or playing a character, he's great at roleplaying and voices and coming up with things to move the plot along and memorizing actions and spells etc etc. im fucking dogshit at all of it so its like watching the grandmaster of nerd shit do his thing and not break a sweat. very cute but also very impressive.

daryl: now for daryl, we're both on the same page with compliments. he doesn't know how to choose the right words and he isnt very good with emotional stuff so his compliments mostly consist of "you look pretty" if i dress up or "good job" whenever that's applicable. one of the compliments that he's given me that rly stuck out tho was literally just him appreciating me being patient with him bc i wouldn't consider myself a patient person in general but when it comes to emotional stuff i try to give him as much grace as possible bc i also want some myself. we're both super stunted in that department so i try to be lenient lol

nicest compliment ive given him is probably in a similar vein, ive thanked him at least a couple times for taking care of me bc he really doesnt have to but its something that really feels special to me bc i cant remember the last time ive had somebody actually do that for me. actions speak louder than words for me as well so simple shit like letting me get extra rest, cooking and cleaning up make me just as happy as a compliment.

billy: obviously he's a big halloween guy but funnily enough i wasnt allowed to celebrate halloween growing up for religious reasons so stuff like carving pumpkins feels special but also very tedious to me bc there's zero nostalgia and i dont think billy would care much for that specific tradition either. i might drag him out to the patch to pick out some pumpkins for decoration but carving isnt likely to happen. apple picking however...he complains but he helps bc if he doesnt he gets no pie :>

billy: at best, jewelry, maybe some plain little silver chain with his initial (possessive much?) but besides that i think he wouldn't go with a classic gift. he'd get movies, merch, knives, but roses? stuffies? god no. and i don't even like chocolate so that's def out of the question.

adrian: flowers for sureeee and possibly a stuffie if he was feeling extra. he'd get flowers with my favorite colors (pink and green) but he'd make sure they didn't mean anything bad before he got em bc he's slightly superstitious. stuffie would be of the hello kitty or skelanimals variety.

daryl: also probably wouldn't do a classic gift, but is again partial to jewelry. it would be nothing fancy, just a bracelet, but it would be handmade which would make it way more special. he'd get help from carol who probably learned to do stuff like that with sofia.

eh. I had to write so much to respond to all this, it seems wasteful not to post.

TL; DR

There is no way for me to 100% guarantee that zadr will be read the same way by everyone, because it won't be, as is the nature of all media. That is exactly why I don't think that everyone who interprets Zim as a child necessarily has ill or manipulative intentions.

But I can provide arguments like the following for why I think zadr and kids who ship it would be a likely target for groomers, and therefore why I feel it is a good idea to discourage this ship.

As I mentioned in the previous ask, I think that said discouragement should be approached with the mindset that not everyone involved is malicious or arguing in bad faith. It is necessary to determine how best to act depending on the situation.

Personally, I'm going to continue pointing out the problems I see with the ship as much as I can in hopes of changing peoples' minds, whenever I have the time and energy to do so.

re: the VAs: This does not refute my point about Zim being easily read as an adult bc of the 50 years comment/ many other contextual implications made by the show. If anything the vagueness about Zim's age because of his alien society could make this a more useful grooming tool. I feel the same way about Bill Cipher x Dipper. Bill has just as much childish adult coding and just as little certainty about his age within the context of his alien species.

re: the pilot bible: the show changes lots of things from the pilot bible so this is no more reliable than any other "word of god" (input from creators of the show rather than material within the show) from Jhonen.

That said, I think the VAs were joking around and did not put much thought into it. Joking around by making characters act the opposite of normal (hating each other -> liking each other) is common.

That said, I think the unprovable nature of the intentions behind the VAs comments is a good argument for excluding word of god from the Zim age conversation entirely. I think that zadr is still Not Good and should be Discouraged even if you only look at the show with no additional outside input, for all the reasons I explained in the first ask and have added here.

re: advertisements calling Zim an alien kid: a bunch of characters in the show call him a kid because they are genuinely convinced he is one, so it doesnt surprise me that advertisement/bumper writers who arent really paying attention would call him that.

re: trying to date Tak: in that episode it is made VERY clear that Zim does not understand romance at all, and does not care to beyond what's necessary to blend in. He clearly does not genuinely want to date her and only wants to use it to seem more socially normal. The Keef episode established a precedent for how Zim treats human relationships he's unfamiliar with, and it's by doing the bare minimum and then ditching them immediately. It's not GOOD behavior by any stretch, but he isn't acting with genuine predatory intentions.

re: 60 years joke: yeah sure that is a joke the show might make. But the additional cultural context we have for Zim's life (that he has been a soldier for a long time + that he trained to become a soldier for a long time, as we see in The Trial) gives Tak being a janitor for 50 years more potential to be taken literally.

re: mopiness of doom: yeah honestly I just personally don't like that episode script. But also, as codependant as they are and as weird as that is, nothing about it is inherently romantic. My frenemies argument from the end of the original post still stands, as do all of my arguments about the ship being potentially useful for grooming because of the lack of clarity.

re: your conclusion: The fact that Irkens HAVE child soldiers IS interesting, yes, and we see in The Trial that Zim has been trained to be a soldier basically since birth, which is also interesting to consider for Zim's character.

However, I explained in the previous ask how I think reading Zim as a child during the current events of the show weakens some of the show's core themes about incompetent, unquestioning adults. I think the whole show just makes more sense if it is centered around a socially shunned child and socially shunned adult fighting against each other. The fact that Zim is old and still a loser further highlights how futile both his and Dib's aspirations to greatness are within their respective societies-- and they are CLEARLY meant to be seen as futile.

I cannot think of a theme or character arc that would be served by Zim's age being unclear, so I do not think it comes across as intentional, even if you rule out word of god. But still, even if nothing I've read into here was intentional, what matters is that it is lends itself to being interpreted as an adult/child ship, or being interpreted as an age gap that "doesnt count" for superficial reasons. And NO I am not claiming that there is any way to conclusively determine that a ship with an unclear age gap has crossed the line into potentially harmful territory. It HAS to be considered on a case-by-case basis. And you've made it clear that there are muddling factors to sift through for this one in particular!

But I feel very strongly that these muddling factors are more circumstantial than, less intuitive than, and ultimately outweighed by, the parts of the text which contextually place Zim as an adult, and will continue providing examples supporting this conclusionc whenever I am able to.

i do actually really really like Ray Chase as kara but the way that Nakamura pitches his voice down for him and then when something karamatsu isnt like. prepared for or whatever happens he goes back up into his regular vocal range or sometimes a bit higher really adds to karamatsu's whole. everything HJGKHFJGH LIKE his whole identity pretty much IS performance so even his voice being part of his front is so fun to me, Ray Chase's voice feels so naturally deep and smooth that its like. his voice is Too Cool for kara yknow like his voice being Actually cool? karamatsu fucking wishes JHKGJFGHD BUT i do think he is one of the better choices that the casting directors made compared to the rest of the brothers

Kyle McCarley as Ichimatsu i honestly havent seen much of his performance but god did he put is whole pussy into the one episode where he INSISTS they have to respect each other, hes honestly really really good at maintaining the monotone voice while also conveying a lot of emotion through his voice its pretty impressive that he can do the yellingscreaming while keeping that up, Fukuyama Jun's like. jump from monotone to YEEEAAGHHK when ichimatsu is At His Limit is really really funny so i think that these two are pretty much on par with each other while putting their own spin on how the character . i dont know. expresses himself i guess. poggers :thumbs up emoji i cant use cus im typing on desktop:

i wanna say i hate to compare BG3 and DAI buuuuut you know they have similar intentions not including the combat system. theyre both high fantasy RPGs that focus on major story choices/consequences and making a protag that you can shape based on personality options, along with class/race specific effects on the way characters mold with you.

so. i think they can be compared, without any note of the technical advancements from since DAI came out of course.

and i say this just based on my current progress (i guess the first 'part'? i just got to the end of the druid grove stuff). i think the bg3 protag is fine! no issue there really, its different but i like what i can do. but i can feel the issues with romance in this game creeping up, as i had heard some things started before by others... that theres a very quick focus to romance. and honestly.... is it romance even at this starting point? immediately i am just asked about who i want to fuck. i like to fuck, i like the sexual relationships. but i can see where ppl may have their issues here.

on this first celebration with the party members, the woman who i helped do the raid with, who i literally dont know, before i even got to the party was like- i am talking to you in your mind and i want to fuck you in thanks for this. and she is the one character you can just fuck without any relation with. and then i talk to Astarion who is like, who do you want to fuck tonight lol? and even if i hadnt talked w him, every other character there except Gale had the option to suggest i wanted to fuck them. bro i hardly even know these guys still. i want to fuck astarion eventually and im glad he turned me down bc honestly why would he accept?. but shadowheart and laezel were totally up for it!!! and man i hard travelled with laezel bc i dont like her lol.

and listen i am sure i will get to learn way more abt these characters that i romance but the fact i am opened up to the sex option immediately is just. so strange when i compare it to the romances of DAI. i think i could take a few characters who just want sex. thats normal. not everyone wants commitment and i would actually like that nuance. but also, really putting the sex on so quick and so blatantly is a surprise to me even as someone who wants to have sex stuff all the time!! but i like good writing too! and i imagine its even more uncomfy for others who really didnt expect or want that. to just assume you character wants to have sex so fast is weird and the only other option denying everything (no implication you want just romance/are interest but dont want sex) is just wild to me too.

DAI has such well written romances. really. i saw ppl saying they were excited this game would blow bioware's romance writing out of the water but i dont think i can say that at all rn and im not sure this current impression will change enough for me to say otherwise entirely....

this also goes into why "everyone is bi" isnt always good. because i think it takes a lot of potentially personal weight out of the writing. not even in that if one character is gay then there will be oppression angst between them and you for being gay. or that the straight one will voice their straightness in context of gays existing in world. its about how "everyone is bi" isnt actually good, chosen bi rep. its just a game mechanic thrown in to satisfy all ends. we can have bi characters, we just cant have them all being labelled that in order to fill that check mark.

dorian is a really good example in DAI of how a character being strictly gay and also facing in world oppression makes his romance storyline SO good. its so important for sexuality labels to exist bc it makes you an individual of your own. and for it to be EXPRESSED in some form too. a character should be able to voice their thoughst on their unique sexuality when you romance them. but the 'everyone is bi just because' means like no character is every talking about that, let alone in a meaningful way when the reason applies to every other companion.

sorry did not mean for this to become a rant on romances. im still looking forward to the writing that will unfold with these characters but i think its so important to not get lost in the hype (and the hate to DAI? which i think is just hate to bioware really) bc people ALWAYS get to ahead of themself when they hear "you can romance anyone regardless of gender" without thinking twice about whether or not that makes it good writing or rep

i was thinking about it and i realised that i had sort of subconsciously been under the impression that atla was one of those star wars situations that tells you anyone can be magic but in actuality every major plotpoint just ties back to one single family every time (some of you may be saying “but rey wasnt a skywalker!” to which i respond “who was the primary antagonist then wiseguy” but this post isnt actually about star wars so fuck me ig) anyway what im getting at is, other than zuko, whose major theme is his relationship with his family and therefore with his nation as a whole (and also he was actual royalty so it was inevitable tbh), every single other main character’s parents were not explicitly benders, or were nonbenders. aangs parents arent ever even shown! i mean for a show where its canon that magic is genetic, they do a waaaayyyyyy better job at delivering the “anyone can be a hero” storyline than media that actually textually tells that story lmao

not only is the show about children, its also about lots of marginalised groups. all the characters are POC, toph is blind, katara is a girl (toph is obviously also a girl but her character doesnt really explore misogyny like katara ykwim?), sokka is just some guy even in the context of the magic system, even aang — the literal chosen one!!!! — is just a random kid who also happens to be the reincarnation of the most powerful spirit in the galaxy or whatever (thats a recurring theme of the show actually), and zuko ,who is the most nepo baby protagonist, isnt actually the prodigy of his family and is instead frequently upstaged by his little sister lol

like it would have been so easy to do a “and guess what the reason toph is such a great bender is because she’s secretly king bumi’s great niece!!!!!!” reveal, which is such a classic plot twist that tbh its barely a twist these days, but instead toph was a badass specifically because of the unique perspective she gained by being disabled and the way that allowed her to connect with the world around her ie the badgermoles — thats a way stronger story! the only relationship reveal we get (other than i guess aang learning he’s the avatar which kind of maybe counts??) is zuko learning he’s related to roku which. i mean he was already a nepo baby so it doesnt detract from his agency really and in fact reinforces his recurring “there are two wolves” conflict, which up to that point was mostly shown through azula and iroh (think his ba sing se fever dream wherein there were two dragons inside him voiced by azula and iroh respectively one advocating good the other evil, foreshadowing the final conflict of the season where he must choose between azula and iroh and he backslides in his moral arc by choosing azula which is a really cool narrative choice that tbh now that im thinking about it i probably should have made this tangent its own post but we’re here now ig)

also i was thinking about how bending is genetic but also skips generations (neither kya nor hakoda is a bender, and we dont know of any grandparent other than gran gran, who is a nonbender, and i think its a dominant gene bc ursa wasnt a bender to my knowledge but zuko and azula are, so probably neither kya nor hakoda had bender parents, but obviously katara is a bender, but sokka isnt, plus there were identical twins in the volcano episode where only one was a bender which does confuse me scientifically but i dropped science so whatever) and bending is shown as common enough that probably everyone has atleast one ancestor who is a bender so tbh it sort of circles back to being random lol

ive always been overweight for my age but i never faced any bullying abt it other than some very occasion name calling of "fat" in elementary school and my family's disaproval for the way i look. as i grew up, i started to feel more comfortable around others despite not being satisfied with the way i look and i assumed that as kids mature they become more accepting, bc i had never been truly bullied b4 i just assumed it might be rare in communities such as where i lived compared to some of the horror stories i had heard. anyways all my life i had assumed people had been seeing me for more than what i looked like, i always tried to be kind and make a good impression on other but ig that's not true. as much as i love my circle of friends, im not sure i can see them same after what happened on friday. it isnt even their fault, i just feel very insecure now. but basically in 1 of my classes, we had a change in seating so i no longer sat near my friends but 2 acquantainces (they're rlly sweet girls but idk them too well) and this one guy that i also dont know very well other than that in 8th grade he had dated an old friend of mine for a little bit. but anywyas tbh i feel like im just being dramatic but i srsly can't get his conversation out of my mind . the boy was sat next to me and talking to his friend, their convo alr starting off on a wierd note abt kanye west. and the guy next to me (ill call him ray to make it easy) starts off by saying that kanye's note all that bad and has said some pretty true things. ray then goes on to say that fat people dont deserve to exist and body positivity is a completely stupid subject bc it only encourages obesity and unhealthy habits. all the while he's saying this, seated right next to me and im pretty sure he was glancing at me while saying it too . those 90 minutes were the most uncomfortable in my entire life. i was literally panicking while he was talking abt it and it's all that i can think of now. their conversation was truly disturbing to me and my confidence feels as if its completely tanked . his comments of "fat people are gross" and "being fat shouldnt be celebrated" keep ringing in my head everytime i go out or see myself in a mirror. i genuinely feel so broken and it hurts that theyve probably dont realize the effect of their words but also it hurts that that's all they can see me as. not another human being or a classmate but just "fat". idk where im going with this but i dont feel ok and i feel so exhausted now ,, just the thought of having to see ray's face again or hear his voice is scaring me . maybe im just overthinking but i cant help but wonder if my friends picture me the same way. am i even deserving of love if im so "ugly" . my friends sometimes comment that i look way older than my age or that i could pass for college aged and even comments like those are hard to brush off for me. sometimes i wonder if i should restrain my jokes and personality to stay kind bc that's all i am to them. just a source of comfort, and if i dont do that then i could be easily execused. im always scared of saying the wrong thing but now i keep wondering if it would never even matter bc all anyone will ever see me as is "fat" . it's not like i haven't tried to lose weight so i rlly hate everything that ray said and its srsly put me thru sm turmoil . anyways i shld keep this brief (sorry for the rant) and im sorry again for using ur inbox to rant , i rlly hope this doesn't cause you any pain or you find it triggering :( i apologize if it has caused you any concern or pain. i hope ur good and stay happy vie

hello, dear :( let me start this off by saying that don't worry, i am perfectly alright and am glad that you feel it's safe enough to vent and write your feelings out in my inbox. you don't have to apologize for anything! i am the one who says that they're open if anyone needs to rant or vent. i would never judge. i had to read this a few times in order to collect my thoughts, so pardon me for delaying this a bit. i wasn't sure if you wanted my direct response, so i will just keep it short.

i won't say that i completely understand what you've been through and i can't speak on experiences i haven't personally lived through. however, as another human being, i will say this: you absolutely deserve to exist. i hope you never ever doubt that. i know how difficult it is to deal with comments about your appearance and it angers me so much that you're treated this way. i get how the side comments every now and then feels. bullying is horrible, but this is just as bad for someone's self esteem and health. im truly so sorry and wish i could do something for you, but i can't because of obvious reasons (that being me being just an online presence and not there with you).

i just want to reassure you that no matter what anyone says, you deserve love and life and goodness. a lot of people don't understand how difficult it is when you don't weigh below a certain number or how isolated that could make someone feel regardless if they're mentioned or not. everyone is so much more than just their appearance. idk how else i could help you other than to strongly remind you that you are you and that should be enough for your friends and that people should learn to keep their mouths shut on their opinions about other people's appearance. it doesn't matter if you lose the weight or if you tell them you struggle a lot with it. those people should reassess the way they're treating another human being with real feelings and thoughts. never lose who you are and trying to be what other people need and want you to be. it may end up making things worse, i know, and im not sure if you've ever told them directly that their words are extremely rude and hurtful and that they should stop, but someone (even if it's not you yourself) really, really should.

i pray that none of what i said has further upset you in any way. if so, i sincerely apologize :( i genuinely hope that this never happens to you again and that you'll have a greater year than ever and that you'll find wholehearted acceptance and love from those you are surrounded by and that you'll slowly but surely feel comfortable in your own skin. take care and you're loved! people like the ray you mentioned are not worth feeling bad over.

this one took me a few days cause i had to think about it a bit. i added a readmore bc this post is kinda long

- i think cypher’s big Thing would be anything involving children -- threatening or harming a child is probably the most effective way to get him to blow your head off, and that’s if you’re lucky enough for him to give you a quick death

-  in general i don’t think there’s much chamber wouldn’t do in pursuit of his own goals, or much that would really faze him. however, i like the idea of him accidentally getting attached to the other agents, and losing his cool if they were to get hurt or become collateral damage in whatever scheme he has going with his alternate. i like the concept of him going on a rampage and killing a bunch of people to save someone, even at the cost of his original ambitions. i’m taking some pretty big liberties with the canon there though LOL 

- viper gives me the impression of someone who has already been pushed past her breaking point before, and is just constantly teetering on the edge of something, anger constantly simmering on in the background. like a snake, she probably violently lashes out when she feels backed into a corner 

- i get the impression that it’s probably pretty hard to make sage lose her cool -- she’s a medic, so she’s probably used to seeing allies get hurt or die, and she’s competent in a crisis. i think what would probably push her over the edge is being unable to do anything about something; a wound she couldn’t heal, or a death she couldn’t reverse, someone she couldn’t help. i’m not sure if she’s ever been pushed to that point before, or what it would take to do so, because i’m not really sure what the extent of her powers are supposed to be. 

- for yoru i like to imagine that his cocky, mean attitude is compensating for feelings of inadequacy or something to that effect... he seems to have this constant need to feel like he’s the best/strongest. i think a situation in which he was made to feel weak or powerless would send him over the edge. 

- yoru panic-shifting into the rift and getting stuck? 

- the thing that seems to really perturb omen, based on his voice lines, is the enemy omen, and stuff related to his past. i’m not sure exactly what mirror omen knows about his past, but i think mirror omen could probably get into his head that way. 

- omen is obviously generally unstable though, so it might not take too much to set him off. he seems to dislike people meddling in his business. i can see him having angry or even violent outbursts at other agents over it (cypher >_>)

- tbh i can see both yoru and omen losing control of their radiant powers and accidentally generating rifts/tears in space if they were pushed far enough. 

- jett seems like she might have something similar going on to yoru -- yk that one voice line of hers where she says to herself “they’re not better than me” i also feel like a situation where she was cut off from her team would really freak her out. 

- i can also see jett losing control of her radiant powers if she felt scared enough, maybe enough to accidentally destroy the surrounding terrain/create a weather event. this is becoming a trend innit

- kay/o -- seeing brimstone or sova (especially brimstone) hurt/killed, especially at the hands of an enemy reyna. murderbot mode. 

- reyna -- i think for her a breaking point would just be like. losing control of her bloodlust and going on a rampage with total disregard for her teammates. maybe committing some war crimes or something. 

- brimstone -- seeing any of his comrades -- but particularly any of the younger agents -- hurt or in danger. i feel like brim holds himself responsible for the lives of the other agents, especially the youngins. i feel like if one of the younger agents did something dumb and put themselves in harm’s way he’d go dad mode and yell at them afterward 

- this is based on a fic by hotlegfryegg on ao3, (the title is mayday; it’s unfinished, and i don’t know if the author is planning to update it any more, but what does exist is really good and i recommend it) but i like the idea of raze freaking tf out over having to kill her clone. this isn’t really consistent with her voice lines but i like it too much to let go of it 

- skye seems to be very protective of her pack (i’m not sure if that encompasses her teammates as well, but she does seem to care for her fellow agents). hurting the people and places she cares about would probably make her very angry. there are also some voice lines about skye being able to destroy as well as create, so i like the idea of a very angry skye going on a 1v9 berserker rampage 

- neon, a little similar to viper but not as much rooted in trauma -- being backed into a corner or feeling like she/her friends are in imminent danger. it’s already been stated in canon that neon needs to keep a tight rein on her radiant powers or else she loses control, so i can see her losing control of her powers if she felt super threatened, maybe even accidentally injuring her teammates. 

- phoenix -- i’m not really sure! i’m inclined to say something similar to yoru but i don’t want to make everyone the same. 

- breach -- if i’m being honest im not even sure this dude has a breaking point. he’s super cocky so i guess getting his ass kicked would severely piss him off if nothing else. reckless anger type of deal. 

- astra -- seems like she’s pretty impervious to most things. i’m honestly not sure what could be done to really make her snap. it would probably have to be like... a world-ending cosmic event or something, of a scale she couldn’t fix. i feel like she’s kind of unfazed by most things to the point of seeming insensitive

- killjoy --  a plan going wrong, an out of control situation, especially if her teammates were to die or get hurt as a result of her making a wrong decision. based on her voicemail to brimstone, it also seems like she’s really sensitive to civilians/innocents dying. i don’t think she’s much for berserker rage, though -- under that kind of extreme stress she’d probably just break down/panic

- sova gives me the impression that while he is outwardly warm and friendly to his teammates, he’s ruthless when it comes to doing his job and protecting the things that are important to him. omen remarks that there’s a ‘fury’ in sova; perhaps sova is a very angry person, and just hides it well. 

- i can see sova getting increasingly angry over failure, especially repeated failure. i feel like that kind of frustration could drive him to a very reckless type of anger, where he’ll stop at nothing until he’s accomplished his goal.

There’s Alvez, whom you are second closest to, he’s pretty funny at times and definitely warm, and the last one is Simmons though you only met him in several occasions, seeing how he was always the one that Spencer commands to run his ‘business’ outside of town.

The 4 of them are all loyal to the don and the famiglia, has been since many generations of fathers and their fathers. When you came into the picture, you didn’t expect that someone is going to be guarding you every time you go outside or to leave for work or study— but Spencer insisted one of his men will always be assigned to watch over you, seeing that the threats of being closer to him might bring you harm. They’re always close by but not super close where you might feel stalked or ‘guarded’

It was nice to have someone to look after you, and the man he always choose to be close by you is none other than Morgan, your favorite out of all of them, you knew why Spencer insisted that Morgan was the one who will tend to your every need (security wise) even going as far as renting him an apartment suite not far from where yours are, just incase.

You grew close to Morgan, practically seeing him as your older brother, on nights where Spencer might not coming back to your place because of his ‘unexpected’ business, you always asked Morgan to accompany you play board games or watch something on your half functioning TV, or to just simply be there to have a chat with you. He’s nice and he makes you feel like you knew Spencer, told you small things about your boyf— sugar daddy. Now knowing that Morgan knows a lot, practically everything about the don, young Y/N just wanted to impress him— cause he had been so good to her all week, so so good, taking care of her and spoil her to the limits. So she asks Morgan on what could impress the infamous don of the country.

ok so its been like literally over a month (;_;) and i started to be like at this point would it just be annoying? BUT i figured it was worth stopping in to say camp here and there is SO fucking good im so hyped for season two i went and joined the mayfield & belov patreon (the sydney and jedidah character notes there? WHEW LETS GO BABY) its just ljterally difficult to overexaggerate how much i finished all but like the last couple episodes in one shift and was like wow yeah this is it all in please! i never want to lose track of these artists

anyway i think im most excited wrt season 2 specifically with the like.. near unavoidable fact that The Thing that made the elephant man, like, bad/ a seperately antagonistic force, the ability to take away sydneys will and control over himself and his life has kiiiinda been happening all along, BUT perpetrated by jedidah. not to mention through what is essentially necromancy! the thing that isnt real and would be hollow and horrible if it was! good GOD what an incredible setup payoff and im so so excited for that undoubtely tense future conversation. anyway thats the direction i assume is starting at/around the end there with sydneys defense of elijah, going just deeper and deeper into a kinda undeniable compare/contrast between elijah and jedidah until.. i dont even know but im so ready to see where it does go.

this is already way longer than a stop in but i love love love sydney so much, and its so nice to see trauma written and portrayed by someone who actually knows and cares what they are doing because without getting too personal i felt REALLY deeply for sydney and saw a lot of myself in his attitude and mannerisms and then we kinda get into his past and well. yeah OH MY GOD I LOVED THE DREAM SEQUENCES and the totally not a memory "dream" sequences and sydney being disabled and it just kinda being something that is true like being disabled yknow Is instead of weirdly or near-fetishistically portrayed my god i just have a whole lot of praise for mayfield & belov huh.

i havent showered ANY praise on jedidah woops so sorry king i like him a lot too and actually saw myself getting more and more attached as the story progressed and ill be interested to even watch myself and see if my once dead-set allegiance to sydney is swapped in season 2 👀 the playing field certainly leveled far far more than i thought it would and his writing is just GOD so GOOD i never could get myself to actually be against him even in the hardest times all i ever really wanted to do was like tug on his sleeve until he fuckin TALKED TO SYDNEY STOP TRYING TO GET RID OF SWEET THINGS U SAY WHEN HES NOT AROUNDDD UR KILLING ME DUDE though of course the pushing away is reasonable and intentioned and its just what makes the drama SO GOOD we love 3 dimensional characters what a treat

i remembered it being meh... i just watched it and its still definitely meh. i think there are little gems of good moments there, obviously the point of the song is that mark is unsure about his status as an idol and an artist now that hes more grown up and has to face criticism and take risks... which is an admirable thing to write about. but his lyrics are kind of clunky unfortunately sowwy mark im sowwy!! i appreciate that hes trying to sing and again there are some good moments but also it doesnt really show us a new side of him just because hes singing because hes staying in a narrow comfortable range... so its ironic cause the lyrics are about fearing these new things but wanting to learn from not knowing, and then the vocal delivery just plays it really safe

the musical arrangement is not sloppy but its confusing, its trying to do three songs at once but again its staying in a very unrisky dynamic range so the emotions that the instrumentals COULD have teased out of the lyrics are just flat. so yeah im all for mark being able to have a greater reflection on his fame and musicality but the execution is just not super interesting or memorable. he says he doesnt know his own strength but instead the song actually ironically shows his weaknesses and in an unflattering way where the vulnerability isnt necessarily intentional - i mean like when he tries for a note that isn't super impressive compared to what literally 80% of his group is capable of, or when he tries a lyrical idiom that doesn't really land

i dont think hes a bad singer and we obviously just dont have enough examples of him singing to put together an objective evaluation, but he inadvertently makes it clear that apart from whatever bare minimum vocal training sm has all of its artists doing, he doesnt actually have anything else interesting to show in that department. i could be optimistic to him returning to this kind of concept if there was a little more effort + charisma in like basically every aspect of it. its not fully his fault this is just what happens with sm station songs tbh, but i hope when molo comes it totally blows me out of the water bc i think i find what mark offers to be pretty predictable at this point. hes an ol' reliable and hes GREAT at what he does, but its predictable
