lance who always wanted to be a fighter pilot would NEVER be a farmer and we can throw hands if you disagree. anyways au time. allurance happens or doesn’t happen doesn’t matter but they aren’t together now. allura is queen of new altea with her advisor coran and close “friend” romelle. shiro is retired on earth w his husband adam. pidge also stays on earth and works with her parents on advancing earth’s technology. when they make breakthroughs, they relay it to matt when he pops by earth and then he takes it up into space to the rebellion who spreads it to planets that are behind on the galactic scale. hunk travels planet to planet with his moms and they connects all these different cultures and essentially does what he does in canon.

keith sort of takes over the blade and (since the war is over) turns it from a hidden rebellion group to a public aid and relief organization. they go planet to planet and help rebuild the worlds as much as they can. lance is on earth with his family but is Torn. he longed to be a fighter pilot since he was a kid, but being in space was almost unbearable bc of how bad he wanted to come home. when keith is visiting earth and talking about his travels to different planets, theres this flash of envy within lance and he comments about it. bada bing bada boom lance is joining keith into space once he leaves (he really has no idea how he gets into these things). he tells his family who are hesitant but ultimately supportive.

lance joins keith with the blade and finds himself greatly enjoying his time back up in space. he isn’t sure why until he mentions that he forgot something back of earth and keith asks if he wants to go back and grab it. lance has a choice now. he can go home if he wished and he can go up in space if he asked. when they were all kidnapped by the blue lion and jumped thru a wormhole, lance hadn’t been expecting staying up in space, away from his family, for years. the last bit of unease in lance settles and he thoroughly enjoys his time with the blade. by the time he’s set to go home, he barely even noticed time passing but he’s glad to be back.

he happens to return right as summer kicks off and he joins his family down in varadero. by the time august rolls around, he’s growing antsy again and staring up at the night sky with longing. his parents join him one night and encourage him to chase his dreams, to make younger him proud. lance says he doesn’t want to be away from his family like last time. they reassure him he won’t and point out how he could come home whenever he wished.

lance now spends end of august to beginning of june in space with keith helping planets, then june to august with his family on earth. its a good balance and makes everyone quite happy. eventually, keith starts to spend a bit more time on earth. he stops by toward the end of july and happens to catch lance’s birthday but that’s definitely purely a coincidence. keith spends a week in the states with shiro and adam then a couple of days with pidge and her family before going back down to cuba to spend the rest of august with lance before they fly back out.

rachel is the first to notice when lance and keith begin to share a bed when he stays. his mother catches them wrestling out in the water and chuckles to herself. veronica watches their hands linger against one another while doing the dishes after a family dinner that keith had attended.

its not long before keith’s time on earth extends until he’s practically following lance’s schedule. it’s not a surprise to anyone when marco walks in on lance and keith making out. he accepts responsibility as he did not knock before entering. his father had instructed them all to do so. thats on him.

Write your RPer Resolutions for 2023! (What are some goals for yourself as a writer? Improve descriptions? Plot with more members? Etc.

I really want to work on my consistency with replies. Outside of RP life has been chaotic for most of my time here and save for this past month, I saw a huge improvement since I moved! I just want to take the new year and continue with that momentum and be more involved in my plotting and reply schedule! 

I want to write more self paras! I feel like my characters go through so much behind the scenes that only ever come out in passing dialogue or HCs but I definitely want to be able to flesh out their experiences more via one shots. 

Cause an RP wide event, or at least be the driving force behind a big plot. I love to be involved in them, it brings me joy! But I want to have a character be the cause of something or just pioneer something that everyone can be a part of and craft a story that everyone can be excited to be a part of too. No ideas yet bestie ok.

Rose: Make more connections outside of her huntress connections. Normal friends! San: Same as above, BUT I also want her to start looking for her mom for realsies. This could def include a lot of people! Potentially a race to find her vs Gaston?? Kill the Beast! (Save the Wolf Goddess) Susan: Get her to a spot to do something I have wanted since I got her. She needs to find a better balance and acceptance for herself tho before she will let herself be happy. Maybe even tell someone that isn’t Jess about what she is! Dian: Get better about handling his vampirism. Relapse. Get Worse. Struggle. (Sorry bby) Being a vampire isn’t easy. Laurette: More magic stuff! I loved writing her farmer’s market thread with the fortune telling! Let her use her gift more! Amy: Do more with Foul! It is such a great concept and I feel like I don’t utilize it enough. Lilith: Begin her search for Merlin’s Objects to give to Belos! Also be that Cool, but Strict™ professor. Sophie: Pull her out of her shell and let people in more! She is still new so she has room to grow, but I’d like to see her make friends and potentially tell them what is going on with her.

Talk a bit about your plotting style – what plots are you most drawn to? Do you prefer to come with a fully-formed idea and plot off that, or throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks?

I feel like I kinda suck at plotting lol. I tend to take a backseat and I really do like to fill plot calls when I see them and I feel like I have something applicable. And people tend to do the same for me! BUT! I would say I am a throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks until we can sus out the vibes of a pairing. Then I just love vibing. One of my resolutions was to get better with doing bigger plots and maybe big plots aren’t the meat of the RP, but I feel like my best characterization writing comes from the ripples of those waves. I don’t feel like I am that forward with plotting like “hey I want x, y, and z to happen! Let’s use those as anchor points for the thread” but I WANT TO BE. New year, New Kit. I will only get better and more unhinged from here folks. 

But as for plots I am drawn to, I wanna say I love a plethora. I love larger ones with lots of moving pieces, I just really like to be a player in a long game okay?!?! Like the shark week plot, the knights in elfhame, the fall of the order, Dian’s death at the Gala. Love big dramatic plotlines that make the town talk. But I also love messy relationships like with Tom and Rose and Laurette and Phineas. I think for realism, more people should break up. I love a good doomed relationship. It’s who I am.

Talk a bit about character relationships – what relationship are you most drawn to? How do you prefer to approach shipping (if at all!)? What, specifically, are you looking for right now for your character relationships? 

I love love love characters who bond over shared experiences. Whether it be a trauma or a shared affliction, I just love bonds forged by understanding. Because we all seek to be understood in some way or another and I feel like those relationships tend to last the longest. I am drawn to families and friends who my characters can really bloom around and vice versa! I love a good ship, but I think most of mine have either been plotted out via “hey I want this vibe and for this long with this ending” or purely vibes. Sometimes characters are just meant to be organically and it feels so satisfying to let them have that!! But don’t get me wrong, I like to plan a terrible end lol.

As for relationships I am seeking now, I’d love for San to dip her toes into a human emotion she hasn’t felt before for a human (love) I just think it would be a beautiful and natural part of er character growth to have her find a human that she can feel as protective and soft over as she does her pack. I would love to see Claudette pop in, just to fill the current separation Laurette feels from Paulette since being in school. A sister closer in age might have a bit more understanding than the eldest in her eyes! And maybe some coworkers for Rose (work at Interpride!!) because she needs some work hijinks! 

Talk about your dash reply style and your Discord reply style! (And if applicable, also your doc reply style). What do you like about each type of interaction? What is something you feel is difficult? 

Dash: I feel like I can be so inconsistent with my dash replies. I went from literally not tracking them at all and digging through my reblogs to find threads when I started to actually tracking them in an excel sheet. So we are making progress. I might not have them all up to date, but PROGRESS. And I am actively trying to be better with my dash consistency, especially in the new year :))

Docs: These can go two ways for me; we can bang em out super fast or I will close the tab and forget to do it for days. (I hate having 30 tabs open, it stresses me out). But that being said, I do really like them because they allow you to keep a plot secret until you are ready to drop all of it. And it’s so much easier for 3 or more muns to collaborate because I feel like 3 way threads can get so messy and cluttered on the dash! 

Discord: I love discord threads. I dunno why, but it feels like less pressure to have length or flowery prose (unless it’s an AU then I will go HARD for that shit). It’s quick and snappy and I think the event servers are always poppin and have great stuff happening in them. 

Plotting Exercise! Pick one of the resolutions/goals in #3 and plan a rough guideline to how you could accomplish it. Here’s an example.

SUSAN hears about BRUCE wanting to start a support group and chats with him about what he would like it to consist of, she suggests an AA type forum for Magicks because she has wanted to make a change for that community for a while. SUSAN talks to SIMBA about the AA aspects and how they work, and the BOARD about the arrangements while BRUCE fills out the petition (backed by SUSAN of course). 

SUSAN gives a speech at TOWN HALL about seeking community when you feel alone, how bonds are made with shared experiences and feelings, and how everyone deserves to feel that sense of community no matter who you are. She encourages Magicks to have trust in one another for this program to work. 

The petition passes, a meeting room is reserved after TOWN HALL hours for discretion, SUSAN asks BRUCE to be the point person for MA (Magicks Anonymous)!

Oh, inspiration with this was actually getting my ass absolutely handed to me in Sekiro. I just started the game today and as a Dark Souls 1+3 and Bloodborne’s veteran- oof that game kicks some serious ass. It’s certainly more forgiving than DS and BB, but jeez- it ain’t nice. No sunshine and rainbows there kiddos. 

Also, my asks are now reopened! I closed them because school has started, but I believe I can still manage asks- they’ll just take longer than my previous works. They’ll get done though!

This work is kinda angsty? but it ends all soft and happy. When I read this prompt- this is just the story I thought of, and I think it worked out! I’m happy with it at least :)

Early in the morning, about 5am, Harvey tossed and turned. His alarm had just gone off and he sat, upright, in his bed trying to wake up. With the Summer heat in full swing his apartment became a sauna, even at night with fans on him constantly the heat was almost unbearable. He made an effort to stay hydrated and still get moderate sleep, but something with today seemed off to him.

The farmer offered to go on a date with him to the beach, even through the summer heat he couldn’t say no. He recalls seeing the farmer seeming nervous and almost guilt ridden when they asked him, and it created a pit in his stomach that was unshakeable. He always worried quite a bit, but with his insecurities he feared that the farmer would rather be friends than stay in a relationship. His constant thinking was crushing, but he sincerely hoped that he was overthinking it.

Harvey stood, albeit slowly, and rubbed his face with his hands. He took the day off today as no one would be coming in for a checkup, and he asked for Maru to take his place while he ran a few errands and worked on his hobbies. Harvey and the farmers date didn’t happen until 2pm, so he figured he should get some outside work done. It would help distract him from his thoughts until then if he read and worked on one of his new model airplanes.

He made his way over to his kitchen and began brewing coffee. He wasn’t hungry enough yet to make any breakfast, but he wanted to watch the sun rise while enjoying his coffee. Once it finished brewing, he poured it into a cup with some creamer, and began to open up his curtains to let any light in. It was still dark outside as he did this, but slowly it grew lighter out and he watched the sun peak over the trees. Watching the sun rise was such a beautiful sight to him- something he enjoyed doing almost every morning. It seemed, to him, that there was always something new to discover when watching it rise- it gave him peace and warmth.

“I know I’m just overthinking it…” He quietly mumbled to himself as he sipped his coffee. “But what if they find me childish or…” Harvey didn’t let himself finish. He shook his head, trying to wipe any thoughts he had away, the pit in his stomach growing bigger. After watching the sun rise, he began working on his model airplane and it eased his mind whilst doing so.

He watched his clock tick to 1:30pm and he began to gather his things to leave. With heavy footsteps, he made his way down into the clinic and greeted Maru, “Thank you for taking over today. I needed some time to myself,” He gave her a soft smile. “No problem! Happy to help and have fun with your date today!” Maru wore an unusually big smile, but he grumbled in response as he stepped out the door. He wasn’t sure what to expect when meeting the farmer, but he didn’t want to hide from them forever. Whatever was going to happen today he made sure to face it head on, but with his thoughts- he wasn’t allowed much solace.

Harvey still wore a happy expression though, he wanted nothing more than for his anxiety to cease, but he wasn’t the type to purposefully worry anyone.

He made his way to the beach and upon entering it he saw the farmer sitting on one of the benches that provided shade. Harvey let out a noticeable gulp and headed towards them. The farmer turned and gave them a big smile as he sat down, “Hey, Harvey! How’d you sleep?” Harvey gave a quick chuckle, “Nothing like sleeping in a swimming pool,” He joked and hearing the farmers laugh eased his nerves. He felt so comfortable with them and it overjoyed him to see them smile and laugh- it always made his heart skip a beat. “How was the sun rise today? Bright and shiny?” They asked him and he smiled, “Oh, of course. Even with the summer heat- the sun always gives a more comfortable and acceptable heat. Something I’ll never get tired of…” He let his sentence trail off as he leaned forward resting his elbows on his knees and his hands holding up his chin. His nerves started to grow once again, but with the farmer at his side he couldn’t help but to feel happy and content. “So, Harvey… There’s something I want to talk to you about.” There it was. This fated sentence that had been driving Harvey partially mad. He tensed up at their words but eased when they felt the farmers hand on his back. He gulped once again, but with his posture- his hair hid his face. “I’m… not going to like what you’re about to tell me, am I?” He whispered to them and the farmers hand that was softly rubbing his back ceased.

There was a momentary pause as he said this, the farmer shifting in their seat. “We’ve been together for a while now and I genuinely enjoy every minute I’m with you…” Here it comes… Just stay calm- trust their decision no matter what it is, he thought to himself as he listened carefully to the words that came out of their mouth. His body grew more tense, but he didn’t look at them. If his worst fear came true, he didn’t want to particularly see it. “Harvey, why are you so tense? Are you okay?” Their kind words shocked him out of his mental prison, and he turned to give them a smile, “Of course, carry on.” He urged as he motioned his body back into his hunched over position.

“Harvey… Would you marry me?”

His eyes grew wide at the thought, the absolute tidal wave of relief washed over him as tears brimmed his eyes. His worst fears shattered, and he did his best to choke back his tears of relief and excitement. As he still didn’t look at them, the farmer dangled the familiar mermaid’s pendant in front of him. He watched it sway back and forth- the view of the beach blurred behind it.

Harvey took in a deep breath and let out his tears, he turned to the farmer and gave them a big smile, “Yes! I would absolutely love to marry you!” The farmer wore a shocked expression as they watched him, but it quickly softened into admiration and love. “What did you think I wanted to talk about?” They questioned him as he pulled a napkin from his pants pocket to blow his nose, “Ah-“ he started as he attempted to gather himself. “I was so worried that this talk would be about breaking up.” He admitted, he sat back into the bench and wiped his watery eyes on his shirt sleeve. “I hate to admit it, but I just destroyed myself at the thought. I didn’t want to just be friends with you- I love you more than I ever thought I would. The thought just terrified me is all.” The farmer moved to face him. He had no choice but to look at the farmer he loved so much, and he gave them a big smile. The farmer smiled back and cupped his cheeks, they leaned in for a kiss which he greatly accepted.

After which, he pulled them in for a hug, “I could never do that to you, Harvey.” The farmer began nuzzled in his chest, “Because truth is- I feel the same way. I love you so much that that thought alone also terrifies me too. We’re in this world together, never forget that.” Harvey let out a few more tears as he clutched onto them. All of his worries had faded away- his heart slowed, and he no longer felt so nervous and anxiety ridden. He felt loved, appreciated, and accepted. To be their fiancé was like a dream he never thought would come true, and Harvey couldn’t help but to smile at the thought.

It had been hours since they both got together at the beach. It was filled with conversations, marriage planning, and jokes. Neither of them seemed bothered by the summer heat, but the day grew darker as it slowly transitioned into night.

The same sun that he watched rise into the sky that morning now began to set and they both watched it with eager eyes as they held each other in a tight embrace.

He wore the mermaid’s pendant with great pride and showered the farmer in kisses- it was certainly a day that neither of them would forget.
