It's a BareBones Brigade Halloween!

I'm sad that I don't have something new to post for this year's leadup to halloween, but this is an illustration from last year that's still very close to my heart. Everyone on Caliosteo is here celebrating together, the patrol team, the former commanders of the BB Brigade, and even Joe Wildwest himself. What's more, it seems they all decided to collaborate and dress up with some BB Brigade flare (maybe it reminds them all of the good old days).

I remember working tirelessly on this one for a near month, and it was honestly a really fun project in hindsight that I wish I could replicate. I have the distinct memory of staying up all the way until Halloween morning making sure that it was perfect, and I wouldn't have had it any other way.

Since the image is a bit widely cropped and not the most "mobile friendly," here are some close-ups on the batches of characters scattered around Ribular Isle. Dina and Rupert sticking close together (as usual), Cole lashing out at Lester after finding out that he stole some of his hair dye (as usual), and Pauleen's Amargo acting snarky, Todd getting himself into trouble (as usual).

Here are also some WIPs from this one. This was the beginning of the phase where I started refining my sketch lining rather than doing a whole separate layer of lineart on top of an original sketch. It's honestly super satisfying, and I recommend anyone who likes drawing to try it out!

As for the lighting, when I do a shading layer I like to change everything underneath to be a solid white, it makes it easier for me to create realistic lighting in a 3D sense, almost as if I'm forming the shape of a sculpture. Plus, when it comes out like this before adding in color everyone here looks like a ghost >< (how appropriate)

One more thing, I made these little pfp icons to go with the Halloween vibe, also making one for Kris (one of the characters from my own Fossil Fighters sequel story). All of their last names are purely headcannons of mine, but there's still a bit of meaning behind all of them.

Being that I'm half Greek, I've always seen Dino and Dina as being short for Κωνσταντίνος and Κωνσταντίνα respectively (also because that happens to be my Greek name, where Dean comes from ><) so I think it makes sense to give them a Greek last name that may or may not also connect to something in my own story.

As for Rupert (still going with my own headcannons), both he and Kris originally hail from Bockland, a European-based Fossil Park that's just as big as Vivosaur Island/Caliosteo. Both of them act so posh and well-mannered, and I'd love to come up with a reason for imagining Rupert with a slight British accent. Kris's story comes a good 9 years after the events of the first 2 games, but she shares a lot in common with Rupert back when he was her age, much more than just being from Bockland.

On October 4th 1883 the Boys’ Brigade was founded n the North Woodside Mission Hall Glasgow by Sir William Alexander Smith.

The First Glasgow Boys’ Brigade was the first of all the voluntary uniformed youth organisations, represented in 60 countries worldwide. For the first year of the Company’s formation it was the only one however shortly thereafter this new organisation for boys began to spread and by 1886 the movement numbered 2,000 mostly in Scotland although centered around Glasgow, companies had been formed from Ayr in the southwest to Inverness in the north. From then on the movement filtered southward to England soon reaching as far south as London.

In 1887 the BB had spread to all points in the British Isles crossing the English Channel to the Channel Isles where the 1st Jersey was formed and then across the Irish Sea where the 1st Belfast was formed in 1888 and the 1st Dublin in 1890. The First overseas company was formed in St. Louis, Missouri USA in 1887.

The Boys’ Brigade movement continued to advance overseas where missionary companies soon developed usually in isolated stations and outposts, the most notable growth being in Nigeria, Africa. The organisation also spread across the Atlantic, to Canada and the USA encouraged no doubt by the founders promotional visits there first in 1895 and then again in 1907.

The Boys Brigade still thrives and is active in over 70 countries worldwide.

Princess Pooch from Champions is a normal ass dog and it’s at least implied that the rest of her royal family is also just normal ass dogs but seemingly all the dogs we’ve seen in this series have intelligence and problem-solving skills close or equal to that of humans

I remember when KH first came out I was EXCITED for the possibility of what other FF characters would show up as plot OCs and minor cameos.

... then we got the OC Brigade of Organization XIII. BUT we got Seifer and Vivi in one-off scenes and the Prologue of KH2 had the rival/villains from SeeD as the asshole kid gang. AURON ACTUAL AURON had a major plot bit in Olympus! Tifa showed up... in a confusing manner. Yuna and her FFX-2 friends showed up as fairies!?

Then the existing FF characters got less screen time. BUT we got Zack in BBS who raised weird questions of Cloud's situation! DDD had TWEWY going on for some reason! ... and then it fizzled out. Except for Heartless boss fights in Chi like Kefka, Gilgamesh, and the classic Summons had their own Heartless (Shiva, Ifrit, Iron Giant, Titan, Leviathan, Ramuh). No I'm not counting Chi's Medals.

But really. Imagine if other FF games had their cast running around. Hell, imagine if it also had stuff like Live A Live, Chrono Trigger, the Bouncer, Treasure of the Rudras, Mana/SeikenDen, SaGa, Xenogears, Parasyte Eve, Einhander, Vagrant Story, or Breath of Fire. And that's just the Squaresoft side not even Enix! Although also not counting subsidiaries, merges/buyouts, or more specifically stuff made by previously Square people like Xenosaga, Xenoblade, Shadow Hearts, Blue Dragon, or Last Story.

So much fanfic fuel for the characters getting dumped or transposed into KH.

Muffins!!! I need your help!!!

As you know, we play the WGN morning show on Jan. 12th, and oh my aren’t we delighted to do it!

Only thing is, our chosen tune of the day has *gasp* profanity in it, and we can’t possibly let that go on at 8 o'fucking clock in the morning. Thus, I’m taking all suggestions for how to replace “fucker” and “fucking” in the bridge section of “Misery Loves Company”, because I am having some trouble coming up with something suitable and perhaps I’m simply too close to the source.

Of course, you won’t have much luck without context, one never does, so please run on over to my MySpace page, listen to the song clip, and reply with your brilliant suggestions there (not here).

Two badges

Last Saturday Grace attended her second BB Service and Awards ceremony at Trinity Church. It was held at 5.30pm but Grace had to be there at 3pm for the rehearsal.

The ceremony was solemn and it was also a holy communion service, where Rev Christine Loi gave a sermon about David and Goliath, linking it to the values of the Boys’ Brigade.

Grace received a green badge and a one-year-service badge. I’m very glad that her kindy principal introduced and encouraged me to let Grace join the BB, and I don’t regret the day I made her attend her first day at BB.

I remember like three years ago I had my dad try playing champions, but for the story bits I narrated it to him in Spanish because he's not the best at English.

So I don't remember much of it but I do remember the last time we played it. We got to the part where the hot springs was filled with jelly and we had to go to cranial island. Even though he already knew who the main bad guys where at the time, and they literally said that the bb brigade was behind it, when Kent finished telling him to go to cranial island he was like: I think he's secretly behind this and he's the bad guy!! And I was so confused because what. He would not back down. Weird thing is he's always saying stuff like this and I can never tell if he's messing with me or 100% serious.

Yeah and then I lost my ds for like 2 ish years.
