•Yama would admit that he never anticipated something like this would happen. The last thing on his list was falling in love and yet here he was, falling so hopelessly for the new person who stepped into his life. This was new for him. The concept of love, the idea of caring about someone. Sure it was just a crush as most may put it but to him? It was quite the big deal

•At first he did everything in his power to deny that he was falling for you - the point where he even attempted to avoid you. If you weren’t around him, he wouldn’t have to look at you. He wouldn’t have to admire your eyes or the way your lips curled into that gorgeous smile which - no, no. He’s doing it again.

•It seemed as though staying away from you was doing more harm than good as he soon learned that the longer he remained apart from you - the more you plagued his thoughts. He hated it. What made you so special that you managed to waltz your way in and capture his heart?

•Whatever, he’d find a way to suppress these feelings, is what he told himself. Whether he actually succeeded or not is a story for another day

•Yama wouldn’t make it obvious that he had a thing for you. But it was the little things that made it a bit obvious to others - specifically his fellow slayers. It was the way he stole quick glances at you, or how whenever a joke was told you were the first person he’d look at - to see if you were laughing. How he never seemed to raise his voice in regards to you yet was loud as ever with everyone else

•He even went as far as ordering some of his canine people to keep an eye on you, to ensure your well-being. Climbing the tower was no walk in the park and a part of him, deep, deep down, held a faint worry that you would be put in harm’s way one day

•Lowkey has some tsundere tendencies, very lowkey

•When Yama had finally had enough he came to the decision of confessing to you. He needed to get all of this off of his chest and find out once and for all whether or not you returned these feelings

•He was blunt as hell about it too. Yama came up to you and flat out told you how he feels - straight face, serious tone. He was so blunt that you had to ask him to repeat - which only angered him as he had assumed that you were mocking him. “Didn’t you hear me the first time? I said I like you, damnit. How many times do I have to repeat myself?”

•Despite the rather rocky confession he was pleased to find out that his attraction was requited. You both often look back on the day and laugh - it was far from cliche. But you wouldn’t have had it any other way

It was a quiet night, all you could hear was the soft autumn wind knocking against your window. A soft creak coming from the door behind you has you shocks you as you swiftly turn your head to see who it was.

“Oh. It’s you. Why are you still awake?”

“Why are you still awake?”

Yama stood at the doorway to the bedroom, crossing his arms as you feel his glare piercing through your skin.

“Hear me out before you annihilate me for sleeping late but I still have things to do.” You reply with a nervous laugh.

“Things that are more important than your sleep schedule that you should work on?”

“Quite frankly, yes.”

Yama lets out a small groan as he walks towards you.

“Puppy, I get that work is important but you really have to get some sleep.”

“After I’m done with this. I’ll be quick, I promise.”

He pulls out a chair and sits right next to you. You said nothing as you look back at your computer screen, furiously typing on your keyboard.

Yama lays his arms on the desk and rests his arms on them, looking at you with a gentle gaze, unable to prevent a small smirk from escaping his lips.

“What?”

“I like this, being this close to you.”

Yama reaches his hands towards your face, moving that strand of hair beside your cheeks and tucks it behind your ears. Blood rushes to your face, your stunned expression makes him laugh in amusement.

“Hm? I thought you had work to do.”

“How am I going to work if you’re being this intimate.”

“You don’t.”

Yama grins, he loves it when he renders you speechless since it doesn’t happen very often. He loves it when he gets to make you feel the butterflies in your belly; he loves it when you get flustered just by him looking at you.

“Come on Y/n, you know I sleep better with you around.”

The look in his eyes are almost begging, begging you to take a break from your work. You reluctantly shut down your computer and stand up as a bright smile makes its way to Yama’s face.

“Now that’s a good girl.”

He pulls you in for a tight hug, as he gently kisses your forehead.

“You know, your hearts beating extremely fast right now.” he teases

Your arms wrap around him even tighter as a reply. You crawl onto your bed, slowly letting fatigue settle in, setting sail for the land of dreams.

“Rest well, I’ll be right by your side.”

•Straight off the bat, Yama had not the slightest clue of what to do, let alone where to start when it came to proposing to you

•You both had been together for quite some time and the king of dogs felts as though he could trust you enough to make that final, big step. The only thing that stood in his way was the jarring question of how? How was he going to propose to you? He knew that he couldn’t do what he had done when he confessed to you and outright ask you in the bluntest way

•Truth be told, that was his plan. But Karaka had immediately shot the idea down and told Yama that he needed to make a proposal special - especially if it’s for someone he loves. So, with that out of the question, the slayer found himself between a rock and a hard place. He wasn’t good at all this romance stuff, it was even a wonder that he fell in love in the first place

•There are times he decides against it, to just continue this dating phase for as long as he can. Yet, he almost felt bad for doing so. He loved you, didn’t he? He was convinced that this was the next chapter in your relationship with him. . . and there was no way in hell that he was going to back down after he had set his mind to such a notation

•So, with great difficult Yama began to conduct a plan. After asking around a bit [ and getting teased beyond measure when White had found out ] he had finally put together a plan of action that he was certain would not fail. People love the cliche stuff, don’t they? Even if it was embarrassing for him to even bring himself to think about, it was something he was willing to do for you.

•He was reminded time and time again by Karaka to not make this the way his confession had gone and instead speak from the heart. Not flat out blunt, but decently.

•Yama decided against taking you out anywhere and making it extravagant - mostly because he thought such concepts were overrated. Instead, he took some time off and spent the entire day with you. Doing whatever you wished, getting someone to cook your favourite food [ Karaka, who’s the real wingman ] and all-in-all spoiling you in a way he hasn’t had the chance of doing in awhile

•When you had glanced away from the game of cards you had requested to play, that is when he took his chance. Yama slips his hand into his pocket to ensure that the box is still there before getting down on one knee - awaiting you to notice

•And sure enough, you did. Yama wasn’t good at expressing his emotions verbally but the words of Karaka replayed in his head like a broken record. Speak from the heart. Which is exactly what he went on to do; “Y/N. We’ve known each other for some time and I -” he falls silent, mind racing as he quickly tries to regain his train of thoughts. Don’t be blunt, don’t be blunt.

•“Shit, I’m not good at these things.” He groans, scratching the back of his neck. Screw it, he’ll be blunt. “I’m in love with you, Y/N,’’ no going back now. “and I want to spend the rest of our lives together. Be my bride.’’

•It certainly was blunt but it wasn’t from a place of malice or uncaringness. In fact, you could see clearly in his eyes that you were indeed the one who held his heart. Which is what prompted you to immediately answer with an excited ‘yes!’ and throw yourself into his arms before he could even slip the ring onto your finger

•Yama was relieved. Now that this once jarring proposal was out of the way, you could now finally be his
