Welcome to the Hotel California, it's such a lovely place.....well it's not really called  Hotel California, but it's in California. 👍 . I'm still just a poor photographer with many ambitions, hoping to find my mark soon. One of these many ambitions, which is an overstatement is to become a great explorer and finding awesome locales and awesome looking hotel spots. On top of that, I'd like to see more of the world and more of the different cultures outside my own area. . . I'm exploring traveling ideas so I can finally work with the people who have DM'ed me the last few months.  Sorry guys for being unable to travel to you! I might just have to become a sell out! 😜  I don't know how to work out travel expenses yet, but I really do want to work with you guys. 😭 Hopefully soon.  For now enjoy the view outside the window. ❤️

omparison is the thief of joy… or is it??? It’s incredibly common to compare the flaws we see within ourselves to the best projection of what others put out there. I certainly have been guilty of this in my own way. Women I’ve noticed, tend to do this A LOT with regards to beauty. Women compare themselves to what they see in advertising, and quite frankly compare themselves to the exaggerated reality of what is projected by others on social media. My goal with every one of my clients is to help you change the way you see yourself and realize the beauty within yourself as you are. I want to break you out of that cycle of comparing yourself to others and show you what others see when they look at you. In the simplest terms, my job is to capture how I see you, and then show that back to you. One of my favorite photographers once said that there are 5 elements that go into creating a great image. If you hit the mark on all 5 of these points... Congradulations! You just capture an image worthy to be in your portfolio. I have used this insight to build on what another one of my hero's once referred to as "the super fundamentals." Basically with these two principals in mind (and so long as you are honest with yourself) you can continually hunt your weaknesses and kill them off. I'm not going to claim I'm perfect, far from it, but I do practice these super fundamentals over and over on every shoot, striving endlessly to get better and better at my craft. Someone at the Christmas party the other day asks what kind of photography I do. Before I can answer someone else chimes in for me and explains that I'm a boudoir photographer. Person 1 follows up with, "oh so you shoot porn?" I answer no, pausing slightly to consider whether I'd be wasting my breath to explain the vast chasm of what I do vs what she thinks I do. At my moment of hesitation someone else chimes in with "pretty much" confirming that I am indeed a sleazy porn photographer. I opted to keep quite as half the room stared back at me. I wonder out loud if this is just one of those double standards moments. People talk about this all the time with circumstances women have to put up with. Would this interaction have unfolded this way if I had been a woman in this profession? Would I have been seen as someone as uplifting the self confidence of other women or would I still have been the "porn photographer?" I'm not looking for sympathy here or confirmation that what I do is "classy." I am very aware of what I do and why I do it. I also know I'm not alone as I have a pretty good list of clients that will be happy to explain any of that on my behalf at a moments notice. The above being said though, I'd be lying if the whole interaction didn't make me pause and think. It quite honestly made me a touch sad. This is the stigma women worry about when doing a session and this is why more than half the sessions I photograph remain private. Some people will look at what my clients images and immediately think porn, while others will look at what I do and instantly think art, female empowerment and confidence building. Those that honestly think of what I do as pornographic have my deepest sympathy, for you will probably never get to see what I see when a woman realizes her beauty at her reveal.
