I can still remember how I would tell my mom, “Ma, pag nanalo ako sa singing contest, tutulungan ko yung taong shokoy ha.” But I wasn’t able to do so because I was afraid of competitions. Several times, I’ve also asked my friends if I could join them in charity works. But I wasn’t able to join because I had no enough time. Maybe this is the reason why I am determined to help and continue helping. There’s this guilt that I feel because I wasn’t able to do what I’ve always wanted. The current situation finally allows me to grab this opportunity to give to those who are more in need.
I started my donation drive last 11th of April. I was really hesitant at first, thinking that no one will support or donate. But after posting some donation drive ads, some friends started donating. I was able to collect ₱12,900.00 for the first day and I already bought 4 sacks of rice and sardines the next day. When I already had enough money, I added coffee and noodles. I know God lent more instruments because my cousin and his wife as well as my highschool teacher donated takoyaki and empanada, which I distributed to the frontliners of Fabella and at checkpoints and all those that we saw at the streets.
Days passed by and we increased the funds to  ₱70,998.00. Unbelievable! So I bought PPEs and masks for my Fabellan colleagues.
Here are some of the most unforgettable moments that I experienced hosting this donation drive and fundraising:
• Upon looking for gloves on a facebook group, I saw this post from a girl asking for a low price of PPE because his lolo is an ambulance driver and she wanted to buy some for him.  I sent a message to the girl that I am willing to give sets of PPE to lolo. I contacted the supplier where I bought the PPEs I donated to Fabella (since she gave me a really low price for it; another instrument). The next morning, I received a message from the supplier that I do not need to pay for those and that they will just donate to lolo those 5 PPEs I ordered. God is so good. The supplier has a really good heart! See the picture above of an old man in front of the ambulance? That’s him, Lolo Robert. 😊
• I booked grab for an order nights ago. I gave the rider a pack of relief goods and he was surprised. A few minutes later, my dad said somebody’s looking for me. When I looked outside the window, it was the grab driver. He gave me some green mangoes as thank you to the relief goods I handed him.
I hope we won’t stop helping each other as long as there are people who are in need. We’re all in this together.
