Lalo will do a good job but carve sneaky holes in my super thin walls and somehow fit in them. Jimmy will give up. Kim will do a decent job and be angry at my family and pat me on the back and be besties with me and go out for ice cream with me and be my step mother.
The main characters in the last show or movie you watched now have to deep-clean your house for you. How does that go?

Numbers in Bawm
Introduction
I wanted to compare numbers in the Bawm language to the ancestor of Sino-Tibetan as a whole. So, this is just taken from Wikipedia, just to give a basic intro to the language because my main focus here is historical linguistics. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bawm_language "Native speakers: 16000 (2004-2011) Bawm or Bawm Zo, also known as Banjogi, is a Kuki-Chin language primarily spoken in Bangladesh. It is also spoken in adjacent regions of Northeast India and Myanmar.""Most of the Zohnahthlak communities live in Rangamati and Bandarban districts of Chittagong division in Bangladesh, with most of the Bawm community residing in the Bethel Para in Ruma subdistrict and Thanci subdistrict of the Bandarban district. Also, the Bawm reside in the Rangamati Sadar and Barkal and Bilaichari subdistricts of the Rangamati district." Numbers in Bawm compared to Proto-Kuki-Chin (All these page numbers taken from VanBik's Proto-Kuki-Chin: A Reconstructed Ancestor of the Kuki-Chin Languages STEDT Project University of California, Berkeley, 2009):
Bawm vs PKC
1 pakhat < *khat ⪤ *ʔat ⪤ *hat 450 2 panih < *ni? [844] 3 pathum < *thum [416], /Cognate to WB sûm ‘three’. 4 pa-li < *lii [1022], /cf. WB lê ‘four’, prefixal *b- at PTB level (cf. PST roots
Now let us look at the PST roots which gave rise to Bawm with some commentary. The PST is taken from Wiktionary with commentary from Matisoff's article (1995):
*kat is mentioned by Matisoff, section 3.12 (Matisoff, 1995, p.127)
*g-ni-s
*g-sum
*b-lij~ *b-ləj
*l-ŋaʔ
*k-ruk
*s-ni-s "Many Kuki-Chin-Naga languages have r-, ɣ- or g- root initial. Matisoff: "rhotacism"/liquefaction of nasal.", so basically s-ni-s -> s-ris, hypothetically matching our pattern sVri -> sari "4.2212 With rhotacism of the nasal root-initial The STC regards these forms as reflecting a quite separate root from *s-nis,233) but in my opinion they cannot be ostracized from this etymon. I believe these forms merely show "rhotacism" — i.e. a "liquefaction" of the nasal. We have already noted the regular development of *r to g in many KUKI-CHIN languages (above 4.214) . It seems clear that after some of these languages underwent rhotacism of the intervocalic nasal, the resulting liquid was then hardened to a voiced velar fricative or stop: *-n- > -r- > -g-." ([[ST Number Prefixes]], 1995, p.198) This is pretty self explanatory. If we consider n->r, then it makes sense how siri comes from s-ni-s.
*pə-rjat
*tə-ŋguʔ It could reflect the term in Kuki-Chin-Naga languages because it contains a velar and older reconstructions did show just k without the nasal, like "NINE *d-kaw (_ *d-kuw) x *s-gaw A *d-gaw" ([[ST Number Prefixes]], 1995, p.207)
*gip, *ts(j)i(j) ~ tsjaj 20 *m-kul 100 *b-r-jakə 1000 *s-tawŋ - has descendents in brnaches other than Kuki-Chin. Even Matisoff (1995, p.173) mentions that this form is constructued specifically based on Burmese. For now it seems the root for thousand in Bawm has unknown etymology.

Bawming The Thorn

Source: Adam Everett/ Warrington Guardian
On the last Saturday before the Summer Solstice (in 2023, actually yesterday), Bawming the Thorn takes place at Appleton Thorn, near Warrington in Cheshire. Originally a raucous Midsummer festival, the bawming is now rather more quaint. An old hawthorn tree, (the Appleton Thorn) now fenced off and protected, is garlanded and decorated by the townspeople and then a ring of schoolchildren, dressed in uniforms of red and white, dance round the tree before taking part in a procession leading to a gala and summer fayre. The original thorn was allegedly descended from the Glastonbury Thorn which itself was supposed to be the progeny of Joseph of Arimathea’s staff. That tree sadly died in 1967, but its replacement is still going strong. The ceremony is a great watch for the tourists but is a genuine pagan survival, harking back to tree worship - the most ancient of the pre-Christian religions.

I sometimes ask myself (WIP FOR THE REF SHEET BELOW)

“Khang!! Why don’t you ship Aventio/Raturine/Golden Ratio??? Theyre literally YOUR kinda trope! You’d die for the same troupe and you cried over multiple other ships that has the same dynamic!!”
And i do ask myself what is it about aventurine and dr ratio that separates them from the other ships of the same trope that i would defend with my life, but after months and months of wondering “why do i feel like theyre awfully platonic” “why cant i see them romantically like the other ships of the same trope” i have come to an conclusion that dr ratio and aventurine hits too close to home w me and that one bro that i love with my life platonically and i am projecting onto the two of them
And also Dr Ratio is ugly
But anyways back to oc x canon shit ft. My genshin oc from 2020 - prof. Solias lehto of engineering. He was made for sumeru before the region was released…. …
Sol is basically borderline ruan mei, he dgaf, he is putting himself in 20 pounds of radiation if it means he makes a new weapon for fun. He wanted to ascend to an archon-hood through mechanical works or some shit, fucked up humanity and is working for the fatui, making them weapons yadayada for the fun of it and they allow him to.
He occasionally visits the quarters to distribute his silly little gadgets for testing (he made sure it was safe before putting to test) and thats when he met childe and they became best buddies because makes weapons x uses and breaks them and theyre both insane so it works i guess. And he learn first aid + pursuing medicine in Sumeru just so that he can tend to childe’s wounds because test subject + he cares for him.
Despite this, he doesnt agree with Dottore work ethics as he has a personal moral code for humans. He would never test dangerous things on others, he would do it on himself. (Learnt it the hard way after he accidentally lobotomized his twin brother)

Same pose… same almost dynamic… two different games… im cooked….
.l…..
Ok back on rambling, here’s some post-talia fenrir.
He was Dr Ratio’s student to gain the elementary foundation before heading off to pursue linguistic and literature. He would earn a doctorate pretty soon after cuz he lowk a freak with languages and now he’s teaching alongside Dr Ratio too. They are not in the IPC together, but the organization that Fenrir is in often collab with the Intelligentsia Guild so basically, he’s the honorary IPC member.
Fenrir sometimes nag the doctor to let him join the Guild, even threatening with the invitation from The Riddlers (he did join them but Dr Ratio doesnt know yet)

The students under Fenrir does noticed a competitive undertone/tension between the two doctors, but not many knew about their past together. Its a funny thing. They would often compare their students achievements for fun too.
the strict teacher x the teacher people thought were a student
God i want them dead too theyre like evil eifenturine

As a token of thanks, Fenrir dedicated almost 89% of his research to the Avgin-Sigonian dialect for Aventurine and chose to study the language as his dissertation. It was a little funny thing as people keep seeing ihm around the strategic investment department trying to butter up aventurine and was like “what the fuck is this guy doing here bro” and bawm in like 4 months or smth a piece of linguistic and archeology research was birthed
I dont know if i want it angsty or not, but for this i’d want aventurine to be happy that his heritage is finally being recognized and. He’d often tease Fenrir by repeating some of the rambling that fenrir always repeats when talking to Aventurine in Avgin-Sigonian, like little mumble
“okay so avgin sigonian has two diphthongs… from the way he’s speaking they’re normally in stressed syllables… hmm…. And they make morphological alternations with the mid vowels /e/ and /o/….”

This is a joke doodle, THIS IS A JOKEEEE

"i love how there's no rules for pronouncing words in english you just have to learn every word" "UM ACTUALLY THERE ARE RULES BUT THE REAGAN EDUCATION SYSTEM STOPPED TEACHING THEM BECAUSE THEY WERE SNOBBY SO NOW ONLY RICH PEOPLE AND PEOPLE WITH ENGLISH MAJOR PARENTS GET TAUGHT PROPERLY AND HEAR THE CORRECT WAY TO PRONOUNCE IT"
ok i get what you're saying
but we are talking about the language that brought you tomb (toom) bomb (bawm) comb (coum) here... i don't think it was about what you're acting like it was about. english really is rather irregular spelling-wise because english combines being the dark fusion of french and germanic with a tendency to absorb a billion loanwords, and then a general linguistic choice to have word spellings that just retain random old traits nothing like how they're said.
this has been a problem for a very long time.
then you add in that english is spoken in several major clades with chaotic accent differences and it gets even more insane. do you pronounce the l in walk? in palm? in calm? the r in car? which english speaking country are you in? aluminium is spelled and pronounced aluminum in america, etc. shit's crazy bro

'That now is hay some-tyme was grase', John Lydgate
Here begyneth a balade whych Iohn Lydgate the Monke of Bery wrott & made at the commaundement of the Quene Kateryn as in here sportes she wallkyd by the medowes that were late mowen in the monthe of Iulij.
Ther is full lytell sikernes But towardes eve his bemes gon downe. And thus all thynge, be revolucion, Nowe ryche, now pore, now haut, now base, By resemblaunce to myn opynyon, That now is heye some tyme was grase.
Take hede nowe in this grene mede, In Apryll howe thes floures sprynge, And on theyr stalke splaye and sprede In lustye May in eche mornynge ; But whan Iuyn cometh, the ben droppynge, And sharpe sythes lygge them full base, Therfore I seye, in my wrytynge, That nowe is heye som tyme was grasse.
Thes rede roses and the whyte At mydsomer bene full fresche & soote, Then folke gretly them delyte To them to smelle for hertes bote ; Then sone a geyne in-to theyr rote The bawme of them is brought full base, Theyr vertwe lythe than vndar fote, That nowe is hey som tymes was gras.
In somer men here the nyghtyngalle, And fele fowles in theyr armonye, Erly and late on hylle and vale That makyn full hevenly melodye ; But in wyntar, who lyst aspye, Theyr lowde songe is browght full base, By whiche ensample I may applye That now is heye some tyme was grase.
Ther may nothynge here longe contynue For to endure in his freshenys, The whelle so turnythe of Dame Fortune By chaungynge of her doublenes, For olde defasethe all fayrenys, And all beawtie bryngyth full base. So here a sample and a lyknes That now is heye some tyme was grase.
Wymen that bene most freshe of face And moste lusty in all theyr corage, Proses of yeres can all defface, And chaunge the colours of theyr vysage, “Chekemate to beawtye,” seyth rymplyd age, When theyr fayrnys is browght full base ; Behold ensample in yowr passage That now is hey some tyme was grase.
Whilome full feyre was Polixene, So was Creseyde ; so was Helene Dido also of Cartage quene, Whos beaute made many one pleyne ; But dethe came laste and can dysteyne Their freshenes, and made them full base, Youre remembraunce let not disdeyne, That now is heye some tyme was gras.
Hester was fayrest on to se Her tyme of most excellence, And Gresylde surmontynge of beaute, But she and all her pacience Wer buryed with dethes violence, And in her grave brought full base, Wherfore have evar in yowr advartence That now is hey some tym was grase.
Remembre vpon the Worthi Nyne, Of Kynge David and of Iosue, The whiche in knyghthod deden shyne, Forget not Iudas Machabe, What was the fyne of all thes thre, When dethe hade brought theyr poure base, By whiche ensample yow may se That nowe is heye sometyme was grase.
Hector of Troy, and Iulius, And Alisandar most myghty kynge, The story of them tellyth thus, For all theyr conquest and rydynge, For all theyr ryches and gederynge, Dethe made them to be layd full base, Remembre therfore in thy thynkyng, That now is hey some tym was gras.
Arthur, most worthy of renowne, And Charls, the myghty emperowre, And good Godfray of Bolyoune, Of knyghthod clepyd susteynoure, What was the fyne of theyr laboure Whan dethe provyens hath brought base, But for to shewe that everyche floure, That nowe is heye some tyme was grase.
Nowe it is day, nowe it is nyght ; Nowe it is fowlle, nowe it is feyre ; Nowe it is derke, nowe it is lyght ; Nowe clowdye mystes, nowe bryght ayre ; Nowe hope in luve, nowe false dispayre ; Nowe on the hylle, now brought full base ; Nowe clymben hiegh vppon the steyre, That nowe is heye some tyme was grase.
Nowe clothed in blake, nowe clothed in grene ; Nowe lustye, nowe in sobernes ; Now clothe of golde that shynyth shene, Nowe rede, in token of hardynes, Nowe all in white, for clennes, Nowe sise, nowe synke, nowe ambbes aas ; The chaunce stondes in no stabulenes, That now is hey some tyme was grase.
Nowe thes tres blosome and blome, Nowe the leves fade and falle ; Nowe suger, nowe swete synamome, Nowe tryakle, nowe bytar galle ; Nowe yowthe, nowe age pat dothe apall ; Nowe ioye, nowe myrthe, nowe alas ; And thynke a-mongest thes chaungis all That nowe is heye: some tyme was gras.
Nowe men reioys, nowe men complayne ; Nowe can thes wimen flattar and wepe ; Nowe dothe it shyn, nowe dothe it rayne ; Nowe on drye soylle, nowe in the depe ; Nowe stonde vpryght, nowe lowe to crepe ; Nowe rune, nowe go an esy pase, Nowe mene a wake, nowe folke a slepe ; Nowe that is heye some tyme was grase.
In this mater lat ws not tarye ; Alle stont on chaunge, who list to see, Every thynge here dothe chaunge and varye, Nowe feythe, nowe mutabylyte ; Nowe vpon tweyne, nowe vpon thre ; Who clymbeth hyest gothe ofte base, Ensample in medowes thow mayst se That nowe is heye some tyme was grase.

A short description of the Final Project.
Through my project, I aim to depict the struggles, sufferings, and injustices faced by the Indigenous communities, drawing inspiration from both historical and contemporary events of exploitation. Simultaneously, I wish to highlight the rich cultural identity of the Indigenous groups in Bangladesh, which is in danger of disappearing. My goal is to craft an artistic narrative that not only portrays these realities but also provokes thought among the audience.
I want to symbolically incorporate historical events into the story, events that resonate not just with the indigenous people of the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) but also with oppressed communities worldwide. By doing so, I hope to create a narrative that viewers from different parts of the world can connect with and understand deeply.
Do you know about the CHT and it’s Indigenous Peoples?
If the answer is “NO”, here is a short description about them……..
The Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT), located in the southeastern region of Bangladesh, consist of three hill districts: Rangamati, Khagrachari, and Bandarban. With an area of approximately 13,295 square kilometers, the region constitutes nearly one-tenth of Bangladesh’s total landmass.
Historically, the Chittagong Hill Tracts were governed by various rulers, including the kings of Arakan, Tripura, and the Mughal Empire, before coming under the control of the British East India Company in 1760. In 1860, the British formally annexed the region, integrating it into British India and designating it as the “Chittagong Hill Tracts.”
During the partition of British India in 1947, the region was incorporated into Pakistan, despite its status as a non-Muslim majority area. Subsequently, following the independence of Bangladesh in 1971, the Chittagong Hill Tracts became an integral part of the country. The region continues to hold significant importance in Bangladesh’s geographical, cultural, political, and historical landscape.
The Chittagong Hill Tracts have been home to various indigenous communities for centuries. Today, the region is inhabited by approximately 11 indigenous communities, including the Chakma, Marma, Tripura, Mro, Bawm, Tanchangya, and Pangkhuas, among others. These communities are distinct from the majority Bengali population and maintain unique cultural identities through their languages, traditions, clothing, and social practices. This diversity sets them apart as culturally rich and historically significant contributors to Bangladesh’s heritage.
An illustration of the Indigenous peoples in the CHT.
As a member of the Chakma community, one of the largest indigenous groups in the region, I aim to represent the traditions and experiences of these vibrant and historically significant Indigenous communities.
However, The CHT, once vibrant with the cultural and social presence of Indigenous communities, now faces a grave existential crisis. A combination of oppressive tactics has been employed to forcibly evict Indigenous communities from their ancestral lands. These tactics include human rights violations such as enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and the destruction of properties. Year after year, Indigenous people find themselves caught in a cycle of violence and injustice, perpetuating a harrowing struggle for survival.
