Spent some time with my ReBoot OC Codec tonight. I have a bauta mask at home that I bought because it reminded me of Codec so I did some sketches of that, then I made one of the sketches into teen Codec.

The prequel era masks are my absolute favourite for the Ghoul looks thus far and I’m always so excited whenever you draw them! 🫶🏽

yess I'm just so drawn the era of the metallic masks of Ghost, Meliora and Prequelle masks my beloved. I have so much fun personifying the masks according to which ghoul I'm drawing.

Been debating redesigning Ettore this year. There are parts I love about his design, and I have yet to reveal his backstory + mask. It'll still be the same, but I'm thinking of changing him visually just a lil bit.

... So, I went hat shopping today...

Picked up a middling 'pirate' hat for my Bauta costume, which you see here. You may also notice the enlarged eye holes in the mask. Both the hat and the mask need more work (maybe a lot), and I should really have some kind of black veil as well. But, as far as my kind of costuming seems to go, this is pretty simple, so far.

....Also got a different hat, for a different costume / joke, which will be revealed in time....

Was on a “design” mood today. INFODUMP TIME! And stupid rambling time!

Wanna make more fits for my Erik

Was thinking about some change of styles (a bit like Cherik). This is supposed to be him in a more chill mood (borrowing the pirate shit from Cherik) and having a Lilac/ light purple vest with white gloves (he always uses gloves unless he’s playing an instrument, white whenever he’s with Christine and black all the other times)

Then a bit of Red Death (should do a full body). I was discussing this with my good pal @purrlockswatson and she suggested mixing elements of the skull mask with bauta masks (since “my” Erik’s default mask is loosely based on that type of mask and I really love bauta masks) which is really smart, so I tried drawing something. I’ll evaluate whether or not give him the piece of cloth under the mask (which is what ties the mask together… So… Pretty important). Probably will go with a Tricorno hat (usually goes with Bautas).

Ah also that Christine doodle. Basically her mask is called Moretta or Muta, used by women. Moretta for its black colour and muta because it is worn without strings, but you hold it in place by biting on a pin/ button and this, obviously, makes you mute (which in Italian is muta, with final “a” for the female form). Apparently this was used a lot because it kept the person anonymous, it conceals your emotions and makes you more mysterious and more seductive (by being mute you also had an “excuse” for ignoring any avance). I’ll think whether of not actually giving it to her (for the shits and giggles, ik that she canonically had a domino mask, rn I don’t remember whether white or black tho). Imagine Erik being like “Yeah… This would fit LaCarlotta, it would stop her croaking, heh. It would be such a pity not being able to listen to your voice tho… You wanna another mask?”

Was imagining Erik being like: “I’ve got a really big mask collection :D You wanna one for the masquerade??? I promise that I won’t infodump about each of them 😊👉👈” (he will). Probably masks gathered when he used to travel, or stolen from the opera or even made by himself.

I have to share my old headcanon about the Manager too, now that @that-giorgione posted his cryptid design. I always interpreted this card as a person wearing a big tricorn hat with a cape and a bauta mask

The hat gives him a distinct 18th century look so when the game mentioned the red and gold colour scheme and the brass buttons this is what I had in mind:
