AU Shard
Tumblr media
After reading up on Shard after watching the Game APologist's video about him. I wanted to do my own AU take on this little robot. Mainly in my AU he's a prototype for a combat battleoid for the nation Elias runs (which I need to design his AU counterpart)

The Waterbear is a piece of specialist equipment used by the Tardigrades for the heavy jobs and the most extreme environments. While not a full battleoid, (which is piloted as a vehicle), the Waterbear is a hybrid design piloted/ worn by a human in power armor (similar to Iron Man's Hulkbuster). While not quite as tall as the average Convergence Brute, the Waterbear packs a technological punch the organic Brute lacks.
The premium download is a sheet of two paper figures each depicting the Waterbear in scale to my other paper minis.

I'm selling off my untouched Robotech RPG Tactics minis as I prep for my move. There's 32 minis, a smattering a different kinds of veritechs, destroids, and zentradi battlepods.
If you're interested, here's the ebay link. If you know anyone else who would be, I'd appreciate it if you'd let them know.

Unboxing 028 - 08/27/21
A look at 4 of the Macross posable battleoid characters I purchased recently. I have found them in the past as gifts for about $25. Used and new.  I have picked these up new for about 35-45. They have gone up in purchasing price. You will see the following Rick Hunter - Trainer bot Orange Max Sterlings - Fighter bot Blue Myria Sterling - Fighter bot Red Ben Dixon - Fighter bot Beige
Still new in the boxes, at least they look like they have never been opened. There is a small hue-man character included, and a card picture.
Max and Myria are usually the pricier ones. Roy Fokker Skull leader is definitely a markup. Not pictured
Recently found them in Guardian mode posable as well.
These are well sized characters. I believe they are larger than the Toonami version.
I usually lean to spending the money on movies, but these characters are pretty cool. Figured I would get them. Unfortunately they are pricier than I expected. Wait and save.
I found most of these on Ebay. I believe at the Robotech linked story these go for 55 - 65. US markup vs getting the Japanese. Macross vs Robotech.

So it's been a while since I did a minis post, so I thought I'd show the current project. Taking a break from D&D minis, I cracked open the "Robotech: RPG Tactics" box that I got from the game's Kickstarter. It has four Destroids, five Valkyre Veritech fighters (shown in Fighter, Guardian, and Battleoid modes) 12 Zentraedi pods, one Zentraedi officer pod, one Zentraedi recon pod, and one Zentraedi recovery pod. They most annoyingly difficult figures I have ever assembled. Too many fiddly bit, difficult contact points, and awkward poses dragged the assembly phase of this project out waaaay too long. Did I mention there were no instructions for assembly? Just one sheet of paper with basic "mash-together" diagrams for each figure. I had to go online to get actual instructions. The figure have several instance in poor sculpting/design schema. For example the torso for the Battleoids (picture 3) came in four pieces when they could have been easily molded with two. And don't get me started on the decals Not something I would recommend, even if the game itself plays well. Hopefully the folks at Palladium and Ninja Division improved on this since the game was first created.

Somebody in Starport City didn't like the scavengers across the valley, so they sent a battleoid to wreck their camp.  What they weren't counting on was that the scavengers had one of their own.

Four Veritech fighters in Fighter, Guardian, and Battleoid modes. The Guardians were the most difficult to paint, due to their body shape. I would normally recommend painting the parts before assembly, but given how much a pain in the ass these were to put together.
I have one last Veritech to paint – this one the unit’s officer, and then I can call this project done.
And good riddance.
