The cheering crowd is muffled, just barely, by the heavy wooden doors that you are on the other side of. Outside those doors  nation of Wakanda, awaiting the confirmation of Prince T’Challa’s latest news.

Your hand reaches instantly to your stomach, the nerves settle in. You are sure that anyone looking at you can see that your stomach is in knots, through your clothing as you stand addressed in a  traditional Wakandan clothing, the gown and headwrap matching T’Challa’s purple attire as well. 

‘’Are you ready for this?’’

‘’If she is not, she’d better get ready,’’ Shuri mumbles from her spot near Ramonda, who nudges her slightly, ‘’Mother!’’

‘’Hush, now. This is between your bothering his fiancee’,’’ she insists, nodding towards the two of you.

You have known T’Challa ever since the two of you were running around the palace guardians in diapers. You, the daughter of the king of a neighboring nation, would never in your life have imagined that you’d end up anywhere but here- engaged to the prince of Wakanda. This news is no shock to you, as it was always understood that the two of you would more than likely end up together.

‘’I will go announce you,’’ T’Chaka begins, fixing his tie as he glances at T’Challa with  pointed look, ‘’And do remember what I said, son.’’

‘’Of course, baba,’’ T’Challa responds stoically, as is his usual mannerisms.

The situation itself is nothing to be concerned about, from the outside looking in. To the citizens of Wakanda, to the rest of the world, you and T’Challa seem to be two people who are deeply in love, who are engaged to be married, who are expecting to rule Wakanda side by side. And while it is not the typical way that the Udaku family has run things in the past, there can be no denying that your PR team has done wonders with keeping things a secret until it was agreed by T’Chaka, T’Challa and yourself that this is the best time to unveil the truth to the public.

The doors are opened, and Ramonda, T’Chaka, and Shuri exit to the balcony to greet the citizens of Wakanda and introduce the two of you. 

‘’Are you sure that you are ready for this,’’ T’Challa questions, turning so that he is facing you completely. 

‘’I do not see how I have any other choice’’ you shrug doing your best to be as nonchalant as possible about the impending announcement.

‘’Listen to me,’’ T’Challa takes your head in his hands, causing you to look at him, ‘’Haven’t we always been there for eachother? Why would this be any different?’’

‘’This is a little bit bigger than Okoye not like you back in primary school, T’Challa,’’ you huff slightly, a cross between an irritated sigh and a laugh exiting your mouth at T’Challa’s words.

‘’We will be fine. I’ve got you,’’ he responds, not deterred by your words, pressing a kiss to your forehead as he always does to comfort you. 

Your eyes flutter close and you relax in his arms for just a bit, forgetting the thunder storm of comments,reactions and posts that are about to come your way. 

And for a second, just a second, you forget to be worried about the matter at hand.

This doesn’t last long, though, as T’Challa informs you that they are calling you, that you must go.

So he takes your hand, you take a deep breath, and the door opens. 

The two of you are all smiles as you exit the palace, your hand that is not in T’Challa’s waving at the crowd, careful to keep his hand on the small of your back as he guides you. 

Your grin is as radiant as T’Challa’s, only the Wakandan sun that is beaming down on you outshine the two of you. It takes a few moments for the crowd to calm down, but as soon as they do, T’Challa approaches the podium. All of Wakanda waits with batedbreath , eager to hear what the heir to the throne of Wakanda has to say about his pending marriage.

When T’Challa sopeaks, his voice is strong and full of authority. He commands attention. And every eye is on him, everyone’s focused on the man in font of you.

But your eyes are on oneperson, the man who you love.

And should anyone know that, that T’Challa is your fiance’ but not your love…

Well, you’re not sure you want to know what would happen.

So you push it back. Hold T’Chlala’s hand when he motions for you. You smile and wave, and speak of how you can not wait to rule Wakanda by his side.

And you remind yourself that T’Challa is a good man. That you’ll be content. Content, and content only. Because you could only be happy with one man.

Not happy, no, but… content. Satisfied. Yes. 

And you’ll try to forget the feelings that you’ve developed for the only man you’ve ever loved.

Yikes, so, it's been... A While since I posted last, and while I have perfectly valid reasons such as work got too much, I stressed myself out looking for help with editing (I WILL be emailing my confirmed editors soon I promise!!!), I'm moving, Coronavirus/Covid-19, etc. It's been significantly more than that, I have depression, like, reeeaaaaallllly really bad depression and it's seasonal, during the spring my depression gets so bad it can be dangerous, so to counter-attack that I played the "Lesson Responsibilities But Badly" card and just, didn't upload any reviews.

I honestly still don't have the energy to write out full reviews right now, and that's going to fluctuate even after I publish this post, even now. Cause my depression is probably something I'll have for life, however, I still want to post these reviews, even if I don't have the energy to explore all my thoughts on them.

I guess what I'm saying is, I'm going to post things, but they won't be as in-depth a review because I just, can't, right now. As much as I want to I do not have that energy and I'm trying this thing where I put self-care first above all else (within reason ofc) so, without further ado, a fic review that I wish I could word vomit about like I want to.

The score is 13, as it tends to be lately because I just haven't had the energy otherwise.

Warning(s): Idiots in love are idiots who don't know they're in love. They share gum. Wtf. This is almost as bad as that one fic I wanted to review but alas (in a fond way I swear!!!!!!!!!!)

RE: Your post about making the CERB universal and many not intentionally committing fraud - I would make the argument that many people ARE intentionally committing fraud, out of desperation. I have heard many people say that they are claiming the CERB and just hoping they'll be able to figure out how to pay it back later, because they don't know what else to do. So many people that don't qualify are still in need of money.

Which is actually an argument for the CERB to be universal.

If so many people are committing fraud because its the only way they’ll get money to survive, that’s not a very inclusive emergency benefit. Millions are left out of the CERB and CESB and have no other source of income.
