So, this happened last Saturday night.. 🌹 I watched Beauty and the Beast at CCP alone (but that's okay didn't really feel alone because people beside me are just too kind ☺️). And, I met @d_piddy1213 (Beast), who made an incredible and extraordinary performance in the show, and @hilarymai, who as well made an amazing and marvelous performance as Belle! 🙌💞 I couldn't think of any actors to perform these two wonderful characters in this show than you two!! 😄 All the casts were just outstanding! They gave me chills throughout the show! 👏 Thank you for signing my program, Darick and Hilary! 😘☺️ You will surely be missed in the Philippines. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay here! Beauty and the Beast International Tour

Exactly a week after watching Disney’s theatrical performance of Beauty and the Beast at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, here I find myself singing to the tunes of Little Town, Beauty and the Beast, and Be Our Guest. The infectious singing has simply strummed more strings than I thought, and their spectacular performance was beyond what I had hoped for.

The beauty of Disney's @beautyandthebeastmnl was not just one thing. It was all these things combined to make this broadway musical: the magical production, the amazing music straight from the classic, and the masterful portrayal of all the characters, especially Belle! @hilarymai's portrayal was wonderful that I was in tears at the end of the show. Would have wanted to congratulate her personally and take photos with her, but time did not allow it anymore. I'm still glad I watched one of my fave Disney fairytales come to life. DISNEY’s “BEAUTY AND THE BEAST” COMING TO MANILA JAN. 11-25, 2015

It has  been enthralling millions of theater-goers for the past 20 years with its wonderful songs and music,  spectacular production, fabulous costumes and  superb  acting, but the magical allure and enduring appeal of this hit Broadway musical continues to hold up as it conquers more fans of diverse ages and classes from all over the world.

On January 11-25, 2015 , it will be the turn of Filipino music and theater lovers to experience for the first time the timeless and beautiful story of love and transformation behind one of the most-loved fairy tales of all time when Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” makes its debut at the Main Theater (Nicanor Abelardo Hall) of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Roxas Blvd., Pasay City.

Disney Theatrical Productions, NETworks, Broadway Entertainment Group and Ovation Productions are behind the epochal project  to bring to the local shores the musical as part of its first international tour in celebration of the production’s 20th anniversary on the stage.

Aside from the Philippines, other countries where the tour will play are Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, Greece, Italy, and the United Arab Emirates, marking the first time the musical will be seen in these territories.

Renen de Guia of Ovation Productions, which is observing  this year its 35th anniversary in music and entertainment  promotion,  waxed ecstatic over the opportunity to handle the Manila production of “Beauty and the Beast,” as he thanked Disney Theatrical Productions, NETworks and Broadway Entertainment Group for their trust and confidence in Ovation’s capability to mount the production.

“’Beauty and the Beast” is simply an incredible theatrical experience that will tug on everyone’s emotions,” De Guia said.  “All the characters – from Lumiere, Gaston, Belle and the Beast – are spot on, captivating and brilliant in their roles.”

“The stage props are fabulous and as are all the colorful and cheery costumes.  The music, the songs, the choreography are spectacular.  Everything about it is mystical and magical and fun for both children and adults.  It will have you want to watch the musical every night,”  he added.

“Beauty and the Beast” is the classic tale of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped in a spell placed by an enchantress.  The story goes that if the Beast can learn to love and be loved in return, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self.  But if the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed forever.

The production is directed by Rob Roth and choreographed by Matt West.  It features costumes designed by Tony Award-winning Ann Hould-Ward, lighting designed by Natasha Katz, scenic designed by Stanley A. Meyer, sound designed by John Petrafesa, Jr. and music supervision by Michael Kosarin.

Behind the music of the  stage production is Alan Menken (“The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin”, “Tangled”), with lyrics written by  the late Howard Ashman (“The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin”),  additional songs with music by Menken and lyrics by Tim Rice (“The Lion King,” “Jesus Christ Superstar”).

The book is written by Linda Woolverton (screen writer of “The Lion King,” “Alice In Wonderland” and “The Maleficent”).

Based on the 1991 Academy Award-winning animated feature film of the same title, “Beauty and the Beast” premiered on Broadway in 1994 and was nominated for nine prestigious Tony Awards and ran for 13 years.  It still ranks as one of the longest-running and highest-grossing Broadway shows of all time.
