So here it is, as promised, the first thing I’ve posted in three-ish years. I talk about my feelings on this monster in the author’s note of the fic itself, but basically: I have been working on this for 2+ years now, and I am finally just posting it. I want to move on, and I think it’s the best it can be with just editing alone. I’m not truly happy with it, but I doubt I ever will be and so here it is in all its dry glory.

Confession: while I write lots, I don’t read much fic. I’m sure many people before me have written this concept (at least it seems like it would be a common idea), but this is my take, I suppose...?

Jacky's a shapeshifter (only one other form). She turns into a slimmer more youthful version of this thing. This one's a bit off model.

The wording makes it sound like a species. It isn't (currently). There's just the one. There's more mushroom babies but what they turn into is individual, I think. Maybe. The only recent example I have is Greggy and he was a ten minute sketch I haven’t thought much about since.

I've got question about Junior , what was the main inspiration for his design? Personally, I see a lot of Leopard Seal-ish and Serpentine in him.

Junior is Thema's character. She helped me design him (visually) over the course of a few months. When I started I didn't know very much about him. She was revealing stuff a little bit at a time through roleplay. The monster form is loosely based on Jacky's alt form 'Bashcat' (she's a shapeshifter, I just don't draw it much). It's because Junior is a wraith and in Thema's lore they can take a shape whoever owns them will find familiar. I added his human weirdness to it. The leopard seal stuff was a happy accident? haha Someone suggested giving the human design a mole and I liked how it looked so I added a bunch more.
