My original demo for a song that is now called Heartshade. A titled that I picked up from my daughter. It will be on the upcoming EP without it’s youtube drummer backing me up. It will also be missing the little reverse guitar loop and the lead guitar part that I forgot existed until I stumbled upon this recording the other day while going through files.

Elsa and I spent the evening jamming at the Foundry this past Saturday. I was so psyched to get in there and record and as soon as we got there I realized that I had forgotten the charger for my computer. It’s from 2008, so it won’t run without being plugged in. I was a bit bummed, but figured that we’d just use the night to practice our tunes. Eventually I pulled out my phone and recorded on it just to document the evening a bit. I had been messing around with this song a bit last month and thought we’d try it out. It’s a very old guitar part that I never added vocals to. There’s actually a post with the original demo up on the blog here. I sort of improvised the lyrics over it the other night and I think we might have stumbled onto something. Pretty for sure I’m changing the title to Sudden Disaster. Anyway, there’s the phone recording from the other night.

While Connie was busy doulaing and the girls were busy snoozing I demoed about six songs on the 424 this afternoon. I also shot some vid and then put said video to a different demo that I finished up yesterday. So, here’s a new song called Renegade. We’ll see where it goes from here. Don’t think it’s quite there yet.

I bribed Elsa with some sweet potato waffles yesterday and then had her come down to the basement to record some drums for the new EP. She picked it up quickly and we got a few good takes. I might need to redo my guitar. The tone was great in the room, but didn’t come across on the recording. There’s still a couple of tracks open on the 4-track to experiment with. So we’ll see what happens.

We ended up jamming for a solid half hour while the girls played around in the basement.
