I’ve had a number of projects going on in the basement today, but right now I’m customizing titanium hardware to work for the application. No lathe. In case you’ve been wondering where I’ve been… My basement / studio had a flood. Here’s what it looks like today, with the floor tile all ripped out and the drywall removed. For those who don’t know, the basement is my creative space. It is where I have my glass workspace, my ceramic studio and kiln, my painting space, where I draw, and take photos too. Thankfully, only a few pieces of art were destroyed along with the personal items that took the majority of the damage. It’s been a stressful 2 months. This is especially true because we have people taking everything out and and offsite while the remodel happens. Most of my studio has been the same for the past 10 years, so having my space upturned has been difficult. I feel uprooted. I’m finding it difficult to create while this chaos is happening, so I’ve been pouring myself into the projects that need to get done in order to get back to normal as soon as possible, and maybe even make the new normal even better. Job complete. Gear swap to 11 speed XT. Adjusted the Fox FIT4 detent position on my fork to click in the full open position. I’ve read people having issues with that. I’ve never experienced it, but figured might as well dial her in! Also rerouted the front brake cable routing around the front and then through the steerer tube. Tested for clearance and it’s dialed! Wish the fork was a 170 not a 160, but I’ll survive, haha. In the end a few adjustments for a much more versatile setup and ended up dropping weight, stoked! Took the new rig out for a proving pedal this evening and made it to the beach just before #sunset to shoot some pics. Really happy how the #gtsensor #basementproject came out! First off, this machine is so much fun to pedal! She's fast and nimble. Super stoked how the camo along with the silver and blue hits look. Not bad for a "cobbled" together full Shimano XT machine. Been a bit since I spent some time in the basement and needed to work some of the days stress off. Ran the new rear cable and XT lever the other day, this evening I bled and she's dialed! Not bad for my first go at a from scratch hydro brake setup. All cables have now been run and fastened down. Just need some rubber along with the correct suspension and the trail babe will be ready to pedal. Ugh, pedaling. Haha! #basementproject #gtsensor (at East Norwalk, Connecticut)
