----------------------------------------------------
i take payment upfront via paypal or kofi before i will begin working!
estimated turnaround time will be 1 month, though it tends to be shorter than that! however, i'll update you with delays or if it's expected to take any longer than that <3

One of the Greatest Inventions of All Time
Nikola Tesla has many revolutionary inventions to his credit, but he is best known for his pioneering work in the development and promotion of alternating current (AC) electrical systems. Tesla's innovations in AC technology revolutionized the generation, transmission, and distribution of electrical power, becoming the foundation for the modern electrical power systems that we use today.
There is a common misconception made that Tesla was the first to invent, or discover, AC, but this is not true. It is well-known that Hippolyte Pixii was the first to discover AC in 1832. Pixii was an instrument maker from Paris who built an early form of an alternating current electrical generator (based on the principle of electromagnetic induction discovered by Michael Faraday), and thus started a new industry in power transmission. Tesla was not the first to discover or invent an AC motor, but he was the first to invent a practical AC induction motor with commercial value that could outperform all other motors. It must be noted that Italian inventor Galileo Ferraris also invented an induction motor similar to Tesla's, but it had no commercial value, and he even admitted himself that it was useless. Tesla's induction motor operates on the principle of electromagnetic induction, properly utilizing a rotating magnetic field that induces a current in a stationary conductor, resulting in rotational motion. The utilization of the rotating magnetic field makes the motor more simple, robust, versatile, efficient, and cost effective in that it has less moving parts reducing the likelihood of mechanical failure (as was common in other motors).
Tesla's induction motor became a fundamental component in the field of electrical engineering and is used today in various applications, being one of the most widely used devices in the world. The motors play a crucial role in transmitting electrical power to homes and businesses. They are commonly used in power generation plants to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy, which is then transmitted through the power grid for distribution to various locations. Induction motors are also widely employed in appliances and machinery within homes and businesses for various applications. These applications include conveyor systems, hoists, cranes, lifts, pumps, fans, ventilation systems, compressors, manufacturing machinery, wind turbines, washing machines, refrigerators, garbage disposals, microwaves, dishwashers, vacuums, air conditioners, robotics, electric vehicles, trains, power tools, printers, etc. Basically, anything that requires a spinning action for power.
The induction motor is widely considered one of the most important inventions in the history of electrical engineering. Its importance lies in its transformative impact on industries, its efficiency and reliability, and its role in the broader electrification of society.

The telling hashtag
So S is willfully disclosing his LHR location, with a story and a post to boot, as expected:
📌at Bourne Offices, 11 Richmond Buildings, in Soho:
Literally round the corner from Soho House, on Dean Street. Of course:
Also, this - very telling:
#gifted. Before *urv starts her demented Fitness at Dawn - The London Hyrox Edition fanfic, let's unpack:
S chose to wear, in this post, one of the sunglasses models from David Beckham's eyewear collection. Price tag is a bit steep (twice my Ray-Ban Wayfarers), but still democratic:
But why the #gifted hashtag? Before you think C or Scottish Xena lovingly picked those up the shelf for his birthday, you might like to check a bit around for context. You see, all dbeyewear collections are manufactured by a single Italian producer based in Padua, Safilo Group. Hashtagged accordingly in his post, by the way.
A couple of days ago, Safilo Group and dbeyewear's commercial partnership reached a new, very important milestone:
[Source: Safilo Group press release, https://assets.ctfassets.net/cmstik7jzbvm/2lwJmoKJR7x3ydijfpi7c6/9870e11fbb2c040a89a6d8acb4ed25ea/20240502_Safilo_firma_un_accordo_di_licenza_perpetua_per_l-eyewear_di_David_Beckham.pdf]
On May 2nd, Safilo Group and Authentic Brands Group (ABG), the corporate side of Eyewear by David Beckham signed a 'perpetual licensing agreement, replacing the current one that would have ended in 2030'. Authentic Brands Group and Safilo Group have been working together since 2019, when Beckham started to design his own eyewear collection. Now, they are taking their collaboration one step further, with ABG (or the licensor) granting Safilo Group (the licensee) perpetual (unlikely to be retired, unless something goes really, awfully wrong along the way: breach of contract, etc.) exclusive right to produce, use, advertise, sell its merchandise.
Something like this needs proper promotion, so Safilo Group and/or ABG graciously sent S those sunglasses, in the hope he will sport them in one of his posts with a potential 3+ million subscriber views.
A word on the UK pretty obscure regulations on promoter advertising and the use of the #gifted hashtag. There is not one, but two competent national regulatory authorities: the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) and the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). The ASA is a bit more lenient in its approach and they clearly say that if the promoted product has been sent to the influencer on a no strings attached basis, then it is ok to use that #gifted hashtag. They will not pursue, based on the lack of #ad, however they will name and shame you - not a pretty picture, after all:
[Source, heh: ASA's Influencer Guide to making clear that ads are ads, https://www.asa.org.uk/static/uploaded/3af39c72-76e1-4a59-b2b47e81a034cd1d.pdf]
But the CMA is way more vigilant. They consider that any freebie can and must be monetized, based on its retail value and as such, must be clearly labeled as an #ad, when promoted on socials by an influencer. And yes, they can and might pursue, at any given moment: that must be proportional with the offence and in S's case, it might simply mean being served with a cease and desist notice or a removal and prohibition order. I'd rather not be in those shoes, mind you:
[Source: CMA's guide Hidden ads: Being clear with your audience, 2022; https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/social-media-endorsements-guide-for-influencers/social-media-endorsements-being-transparent-with-your-followers]
If he wants no further headaches, he should simply edit that post and add the right hashtag. It will be interesting to see if and when he will do it.
As for Fitness at Dawn, well... not even sorry.
Gracias a ti, ❤️. Siempre.

How Books are Published - Some Personal Insight
I have a bit of experience with how the publishing industry works, and I thought some of you might be interested in taking a peek behind the curtain. For the record, I don’t know anything about the veracity of Maya Henry’s novel (Looking Forward) or what she drew from her own life experiences, the quality of her writing, or her individual path to publication. The following is based on my personal knowledge of the industry.
Under the cut for more.
When someone (celeb or otherwise) has a manuscript, generally speaking, they are going to look for the best deal. One of the “Big 5” publishers (or their subsidiaries) are going to be able to offer the biggest advance, the best PR support, etc. While there are reputable publishers that aren’t considered “Big 5” – those smaller entities aren’t going to be able to afford a big advance on royalties. Sometimes publishers will engage in bidding wars to win the opportunity to publish a book that has wide commercial appeal. This would be known publicly, and the deal would be announced with a flourish and a press release.
Even a smaller deal without a bidding war would be announced through Publisher’s Weekly with information about the book, author, and who made the deal (agent), not announced via the authors Instagram account with no information about the publisher or a link on how to pre-order. See examples: Anne Twist’s book announcement on Publisher’s Weekly: Betty and the Mysterious Visitor (publishersweekly.com) and Lottie Tomlinson’s press release for her 7-way bidding war: The Bookseller - Rights - Blink Publishing wins Lottie Tomlinson's 'inspirational' memoir in seven-way auction
For me, it’s telling that Henry’s book appears to be published by a small press (MARS Book Publishing (marsbookspublishing.com) with little to no platform. This is not inherently bad. However, as of May 17, 2024, the website has typos, does not have links to its staff or published works, and both the Instagram and TikTok links on the website lead to accounts with no posts. If you’re a writer, this would be very concerning to say the least. Huge red flag. Even a small press should be able to promote your product. My advice to someone looking to publish a book would be to stay away from this press, as it doesn’t look to be reputable.
That said, if one was going to self-publish, they’d need to have a publisher listed for the business side of things – that’s the way Amazon publishing works. Most self-published authors create a business name for their own published works. Again, this is not inherently bad or wrong, just pulling the curtain back. If you don’t have a book deal with a reputable publisher, then this is the way you can publish your book. From the outside, it appears that there is a publisher attached to the book.
For both traditional and self-published books, authors should have readers prepared with reviews. Currently (as of 5/17/24) there are no reviews on Goodreads, which again, for me, is a flaw if the goal is a longer shelf life and a wider audience.
Ultimately, the quality of the book will be the determining factor. People who read the book will talk about it, recommend it, or not recommend it. Relying on word of mouth, a salacious story, some entertainment magazines interested in a click, and a big-name singer (albeit allegedly fictionalized) attached to the story is certainly helpful to garner interest in a novel. But even on the third day of release (5/17/24) the book isn’t hitting the top marks on Amazon in its selected categories. (Screen shot taken by me on 5/17/24 at 12:06 p.m. ET).
Note: these ratings update and change constantly, this is simply one snapshot in time.
If I were to make an educated guess, the book was shopped around and declined by reputable publishers, leading the author to decide to self-publish. The author created a publishing company name and published via Amazon KDP. In my opinion, it appears to have been done quickly and sloppily, without the amount of professional input it should have had.
Again, I don’t have any first-hand knowledge of this book’s path to publication, so these are educated guesses from personal experience, not personal knowledge of the author’s process.
Not having a deal announced in PW, not having a legitimate publisher website with links to staff and other published works, and not having an author website are all clues to someone wanting to capitalize on something quickly, not someone wanting to take the time to publish with precision.
I don’t have anything against self-publishing, I’ve done it myself. It’s a great way to get a book out if an author doesn't have a book deal and/or the book doesn’t hit traditional niches. However, I think it’s odd for a pseudo-celebrity, with a seemingly compelling story based on life events, to not have a bigger publishing deal with a wider reach.
The reliance on entertainment news outlets for publicity can temporarily raise the interest level; but, not having a book tour, not having books available in bookstores, not having any sort of commercial push for sales will have a detrimental effect on how this book does in the long run, regardless of how many print interviews the author does about her former relationship. Of course, the author could do all of these things at their own expense, so perhaps this is on the horizon.
One last thing to add, a self-published author, with no publishing contract or commitment to a company, has the absolute final decision about everything to do with the book from the content, the packaging, and edits, and the PR.
Self-published books can do quite well in the market, when well written and promoted. I'll be curious to see how this one does.
(For reference, I have professional insight into publishing with Big 5 publishers, smaller independent publishers, educational publishers, and with self-publishing through an independent press).

GENESIS — misc headcanons
constantly sleeps around and is a serial dater, always a mess for shinra's marketing department to clean up and buy their silence whenever he gets tired of his current civilian ( but "high class", think actors / sports players / models / writers / etc ) partner, although eventually they manage to lean into it by generating their own scandal spreading tabloids.
every commercial sephiroth turned down, he picked up: hair care, facial creams, body wash, perfumes, deodorants, clothes, accessories... for a good 3-5 years it was impossible to go anywhere without seeing his face on at least two different adverts.
there's a divide in his fanbase, those that ignore his ""manufactured"" scandals for his ""real"" self as a misunderstood troubled young man, and those that scorn his ""fake"" posh and pompous persona and love his catty, scandalous behavior because he's "not like the other firsts". his real self lies somewhere in the middle ground, of course.
reeks of cigarette smoke - almost to a nauseating level if you're not used to it. it permeates his clothes, his apartment, his hair, his car - everything about him. started smoking when he was 14 after a dare and it's been downhill from there. says it's for the stress of dealing with idiots all day, is just an addiction he refuses to acknowledge. he does not care for your lungs or comfort, and will just smoke indoors or around you in general. at least 2 packs a day, gets worse as his health gets worse, which doesn't help, but he refuses to stop the "one thing that brings him pleasure". the only place he wouldn't smoke in is angeal's apartment.
leans more towards being a mage partly due to his distaste for dealing with "standard issue" gear. if he couldn't stand out by fighting with the same sword everyone else was using as a 3RD / 2ND class, the he'd stand out by being the most profecient in magic... which was something he achieved. and then, the first thing he did upon being promoted was commissioning the creation of his custom made rapier, that has materia dust used in it's forging. on it's own it has no "magic" but it can be used to channel and charge up spells that he has equipped elsewhere.
it annoys him to no end how "boring" angeal chooses to be, no flair, no identity other than being "a respectable example" as he chooses to remain based entirely on said deplorable "standard issue" gear.

I’m doing commissions and $5 doodles (all information is below the cut but feel free to message me here with any questions or concerns!) and I’m taking donations (direct links at the bottom of the page via this link) and I’m promoting my patreon (for fanart and original art) and my ko-fi (for original art only) and my etsy (or go to: itscrazyeddie.etsy.com) and my threadless and uhm. Shyeah. If ya can and wanna, I appreciate it! Here’s my linktree! It’s also in my bio! And I will kiss you on the forehead as much as I can via the internet! So. Y’know. Share and stuff, if you can. I thank all those who have commissioned me, purchased from me and sent me little tips or signed up for stuff! You’re the real MVPs!
Prices and rules below:
RULES: 1: I reserve the right to turn anyone down. Haven’t had to, but I can. 2: 50% of the total must be paid up front. The rest must be paid before I send any high resolution images and/or art prints. 3: I accept payment through PayPal and Venmo. I also have a ko-fi, which is great, and a cashapp, but I try to avoid cashapp. 4: Only partial refunds will be given after I have started working.
COMMISSION COST:
BASE COST FOR A BUST One character, no background: $40
* By “no background,” I mean you can either have what I normally do (see above) or you can have a white background for free, but other things like buildings and scenery cost more.
BASE COST FOR HALF BODY One character, no background: $50
BASE COST FOR FULL BODY One character, no background: $65
ADD ONS Add $35 for a more complex background (like scenery, buildings, etc). Add $10 for each additional character. These prices are the same for tattoo designs.
I have prints available for an extra fee + shipping.
Standard commissions can take up to four weeks but rarely go past a week and a half. $5 doodles share the same rules but they are just little line art doodles. They can take a few days just because I got carpal tunnel and need that extra time to rest my hands, but! They still shouldn't take as long as a standard commission.
All commissions are for personal use only - email me at [email protected] for commercial pricing.
Okay, thanks kids!

Hi All! Sorry I have been absent lately. To be honest fandom things have not been the same with JLS leaving, and it’s been tough! But this post has been in my drafts for a while. I work in the industry and see a lot of posts and questions about ratings and what they mean so I thought I would post some info from my perspective. Some of this is oversimplified, and I’ll likely post in pieces. Feel free to ask any questions!
TV ratings, what they mean and what about Chicago PD? Part 1
Why are ratings important?
They provide info on viewership to networks, advertisers and the media and how people are consuming content put out by the networks.
How are ratings calculated?
Ratings are calculated via statistical sampling. There is a core group of people that form a sample audience, and their habits are tracked and then that data is extrapolated to draw conclusions over a larger audience (this is a gross oversimplification), but net net this is how it works. There are about 130MM homes with TVs in the US. The sample is about 20k. This is done by Nielsen. It’s an imperfect science, but it’s the science we’ve got.
What about streaming?
The bane of an advertisers existence is the lack of accurate cross platform measurement. Streaming provides more exact data, but there is still a lack of technology that provides accurate measurement of reach and frequency across platforms. There have been advancements. This is a post for another day.
Why does this even matter?
Advertisers pay to air commercials during shows. They select where to air based in part on ratings and the estimates of the number of households or people they can reach for a certain cost and how many times they can reach them. Advertisers need to figure out how much of their advertising and promotion money goes into linear TV advertising and connected TV advertising vs. other media like digital (social media advertising, online video and other digital advertising, search, PR, etc).
Networks also use ratings data to determine if a show should be kept or cancelled. The amount of advertising dollars that a network can make off of a show is a critical element in their profitability calculation. If a show has more viewers, it has more eyeballs and those eyeballs are worth money to advertisers and consequently, networks. Advertisers and media agencies calculate based on a combination of data sources the return on investment generated from these different media channels and that determines the amount of money they will invest.
When do they invest?
Linear and Connected TV can be purchased in the upfront season and on scatter-outside the upfront. The upfront is a period of time where advertisers sign year-long deals with networks (at a discount, theoretically) in exchange for a specified amount of ad inventory in the form of impressions. The upfront is also refers to the presentations that happen during this time by the networks to advertisers. This used to be a huge fancy boondoggle with presentations and star talent, but has changed since covid. Advertising is a supply demand marketplace and there is usually only 16 minutes of ads per one hour show. Ratings, quality of viewership, shifts to streaming and digital platforms all play a role in ad costs and inflation or deflation. Plus, ROIs vs other platforms.
Is traditional TV doomed because of streaming? Do the viewers who watch on peacock the next day count?
This is a great debate but for many household brands looking to get the word out, traditional TV still drives a ton of reach within valuable demos. Streaming can for sure augment this reach. The cost of advertising on streaming is greater on a per impression basis but it has proven to be profitable so that’s good for advertisers
Analytics have expanded to include more than immediate and fast national ratings (same day viewing), and include +3 and +7 day viewing which will take into account first time views on streaming devices. There is also data that will tell advertisers the percent of people actually watching commercials during this timeframe. For instance a lot of people subscribed to ad-free streaming during covid but that has come down a lot since the economy is in crisis and people’s dollars are not going as far.
What do all of the ratings points mean? What about number of viewers? What’s a rating point? A GRP? An impression? What is share? And have ratings really tanked since JLS left? Will the show be cancelled because of low ratings? Who decides this and how? How do individual actor contracts play into all of this (if at all)? How do networks really get ad money? And more… stay tuned for part 2 and 3!

Heya
Fellow (albeit novice) fantasy cartographer here
How'd you get into making maps for people?
Hi!
I've liked drawing and making maps for a long time, and I used to make up maps for fun as a kid. The things that inspired me originally were mostly books, I read fantasy extensively and I've always loved following the characters around by referring to the map as I read. From that I started to draw maps of places in books as well ones I made up. I drew a lot of magical islands for a while.
I also got really inspired by the natural forces of geology/plate tectonics/weather/etc and how they impact the land. I use all of that interest to try and create fantasy maps that have a sense of grounded believability to them. I'm by no means an expert, but I'm always learning and trying to improve.
Obviously for most maps I do professionally there's already a general shape and layout my clients have in mind, but even then I often include small additional islands, give borders and coastlines extra wiggle and variation, and look for ways to incorporate natural and geographic barriers that would help inform political ones.
As art of my thesis at art school, I made a map for a personal fantasy project. I also made a simpler map for a friend, and with those examples I put maps into my commission info. Since that time (2020) I've probably only done about five maps for clients, so I don't usually get as many as these last two jobs back to back might imply. It is always fun to work on though, and I'm thinking about doing some new personal pieces soon since it's been almost four years from the last time I did one for me.
My best recommendation for getting into map commissions would be to get a couple nice samples completed (at least one of a budget option and one big fancy one) and to decide on a clear plan for base pricing. Currently, I have maps broken down into two categories of price.
Simple: $90 - Includes lines, one flat color for land and one for water, mountains and rivers, and typed labels.
Complex: $180 - Includes lines, terrain color variation, symbols/terrain textures/landmark drawings/mountains/rivers, and handwritten labels.
I can also add on sea creatures and monsters and custom compass roses for an extra charge.
My pricing is based on knowing how long it takes me to do the work, how much effort it takes, and the expectation that short deadlines not be imposed. Extra complex requests and tight deadlines (for maps I'd consider anything less than three weeks to be tight) are fully welcome, but will come with an added price to account for those requirements. I would also charge far more for a commercial client, all of my prices here and in my commission info are for personal use jobs only.
You probably know this already, but I always have to say it! Make sure, whatever you're charging, you're making above minimum wage. Ideally, you should make more than minimum because custom art is luxury service. Your skills are valuable, so treat them like it!
I also can't recommend making a TOS to protect both you and your clients' safety enough. Mine are very much not perfect, but I'm always happy to offer them as something for other artists to reference or even just copy when making their own.
Personal Use | Commercial Use
On top of all of that, I'm very persistent with my self-promotion. I used to only use Twitter for art, but post-Elon I've branched back out to Tumblr and made a Bluesky because suddenly it was really scary to notice that all my eggs (clients and followers) were in that one volatile basket. I'm not famous or wildly successful, but my followings on here and Bluesky are still a tiny fraction of on Twitter and that's scary. I try to reblog/retweet/etc my promotional posts once a day to keep eyes on them (but I forget pretty often too lol) and whenever I have a little drawing or something I post it. I'm not the most prolific artist, but I try not to worry about that too much.
Hopefully this isn't too much stuff you already know and hopefully some of it was helpful!

Is Geofencing Competitors’ Locations Effective?
Modern businesses harness the power of geofencing to advertise their local brands to people with strong buying intent. The specialty of this marketing approach is you can target prospects within a predefined geographic location near your business area. For example, if you own a café in a commercial zone. You can target nearby office buildings, shopping complexes, bus/train stations, etc. to find desired customers.
Besides, some enterprises even choose competitors’ locations for geofencing advertising. They believe it's the most convenient technique to lure away competitors' customers and grow sales. However, some people are yet to discover the effectiveness of geofencing competitors' locations. Are you one among them? If so, reading this blog, you will have a great takeaway.
A Brief Introduction to Competitor Geofencing
Suppose you are driving to a nearby restaurant for lunch. Suddenly a message from another restaurant pops up on your mobile device saying, "Get 20% off on today's menu. Avail the offer now.” Won't you love dining at this restaurant? Such ads presenting attractive offers often excite potential customers to visit the business. This marketing method to attract competitors’ customers with promotional ads is competitor geofencing or geo-conquesting. The process involves creating geofences around competitor stores, collecting and assessing customer data, and creating and distributing personalized ads.
However, you should know your target audiences and identify competitor locations to set up a successful competitor geofencing ad campaign.
Want to launch a competitor geofencing ad campaign? You can look for a trusted geofencing marketing partner to know the appropriate practices for this.
Benefits of Geofencing Competitors’ Locations
Now that you have a basic idea about geofencing competitors’ locations, it’s time to know its compelling benefits.
Competitor geofencing helps a business create a competitive edge in the market. It is possible in multiple ways.
· Since you are targeting a competitor store, you can obviously get in touch with people interested in your products or services. It helps businesses reach more relevant audiences and build a loyal customer base.
· Instead of luring away prospects stepping into a competitor store, you can also attract people who have recently visited the location. For example, if you own a retail store, you can target audiences who have entered your competitor's outlet in the past week. In this way, you can engage more customers and increase in-store traffic.
· Besides, when you geofence competitor locations, you can target prospects near that selected location. Indirectly, you can attract these audiences with timely offers and encourage them to visit your store at least once.
Are you excited to know more? You can visit this link for better knowledge.

Tumblr Games: Get to know the writer
Thanks so much for tagging me, @lexiklecksi and @blind-the-winds. I loved how fun this was.
Three fun facts about me:
I like pineapple and ham on my pizza. Growing up, we've never had this as a family. It was also green peppers, black olives, and green olives. I first tried this my first night in college.
I prefer the mountains over the beach. Heat will often trigger my migraines, and they do not go away until days or a week later. The beach is just an unpleasant experience for me.
My first concert was 98 degrees. I bought a ticket for myself and my sister as soon as they went on sale, but my sister backed out the week before. I took my friend instead.
Favorite season: My favorite season is fall. I love the crisp air, the pumpkin spice lattes, and sweater weather. This is followed by winter and spring. I hate summer as there are bees and humid weather.
Continent where I live: I live on the North American continent. To be specific, the United States. I often write about Europe.
How I spend my free time: This was tricky for me. There are a lot of ways that I spend my free time, and I tend to hyperfocus on one or two things at a time. My hobbies include drawing, gaming, reading, or learning. I believe it is never too late to hone your trade. I also listen to different genres of music as I'm really eclectic or true crime or urban legend-based podcasts.
Are you published? I self-published two romance novellas in 2017 under my literary double: Lydia Larue. These are called: Undercover Desire and Naked Desire. They can be found on amazon. I learnt much about self-publishing and marketing as I was trying to promote those two novellas.
Currently, I am working on a series of dark fantasy works. My original work typically includes dark epic fantasy with dragons, political intrigue, and, of course, assassins.
Introvert or extrovert? I am very introverted. when I was younger, I was able to fake being an extrovert, but it's exhausting to do that now. I have a few people who I am really comfortable being around, and they understand that I need time to recharge my batteries.
Favourite meal: Lasagna. I was diagnosis with PCOS when I was 26. This means that I can have complex carbohydrates rarely. The last time I had lasagna was for Easter dinner.
Tagging: My spoons are empty today, so instead of tagging via my games tag list, this is an open tag.
Blank Template and picrew link under the read more.
