Barry Berkman x Male!Reader ~ Curious
A/N: This is to go along with this pitch I made. I love Barry & Bill Hader so much & there's, as always, a lack of this man x Male!Reader so I decided to throw my hat in the ring yet again.
Prompt: Istg I'm writing a Barry x Male!Reader where Reader is a bartender at Residuals & when they first see each other Barry gets all confused (sexuality) & Sally tries to keep Barry to herself while Barry slowly but surely falls for Reader instead.
Featuring: Barry being even more confused than he already is, a lot of angst, Barry actually receiving the mental help he needs, etc. ~ Yours Truly
Contains: Gay!Barry Berkman, Actor Slander (HAHA, I mean nothing of what I say, I'm just setting the scene(I'm a former theatre kid)), some lines from the show but I tried to keep it as original as possible. Jealous!Reader, very anxious Barry Berkman
Word Count: 1.2k
[Part 1] |
It was the last day of your work week & you were ready to get home. You liked bartending, it was the bargoers that annoyed you. Actors in Los Angeles were all the same. Selfish, conceited, & boy were they draining to be around. You were polishing a glass when a new group walked in. They all seemed to be following a blonde woman as she listed movies. If this were your first day, you'd be curious, but that's most of what people that attend the bar talk about. You didn't realize when you had applied but the bar was meant for "struggling young actors". If that was told to you beforehand, you likely would've picked somewhere else.
The group sat down at a table in the corner of the room, opposite of you thankfully. They seemed to talk amongst themselves as the man in the middle seat, facing you, looked your way. He seemed to freeze, just looking at you. His brow was furrowed, his confusion seemingly unnoticed as the group chatted amongst themselves. That is until the man next to him tapped him on the shoulder, pointing towards the aforementioned blonde. When he broke eye contact, you tried to look away as well. It was impossible to admit he wasn't intriguing. The man quickly fumbled out of his seat & beelined for you. This time, his eyes were glued to the floor.
He made it to the bar & set his hands down on the mahogany counter that stood between you, only knowing you were in front of him when he noticed the glass you were previously polishing was still sat in your, now still, hands. You set down the glass as he let a moment of silence sit between you.
"What can I get for-"
"Three regular beers, one light, a cosmopolitan, & four bowls of popcorn for, uh-" he stopped his rushed ramblings for just a moment to look back at his table, "I don't see a table number."
You were caught off guard, to say the least, & quickly set down the glass only to replace it with your notepad to write down the order. He didn't look up at you in that moment, slowly shifting his weight back & forth.
You begin to speak as you turn to grab a couple beer bottles, "I saw your group come in, don't worry about table numbers. Here are two beers, I can bring the rest to your table. Popcorn will be ready in a minute."
The man grabbed the beers & hurried off, you followed suit at your own pace. You could vaguely hear the man next to him tease, "What's got you spooked, Barry?"
You set down the beers with a smile, notifying the group about the popcorn as well, before turning on your heel & heading back to the bar. The man next to him, Nick, now gave Barry a knowing look. Sally, the blonde woman, looked up from her conversation to see Barry, sitting in a flustered silence with a light blush forming. He quickly hid his face behind a light beer can. Sally assumed she was already growing on him & smiled to herself before picking up the conversation again.
"What if you did Robert Duvall from Tender Mercies?" She asked, the same smile resting on her face.
"Oh, yes, yes, the one where he's talking with his daughter. You should totally do that," Another woman spoke.
"Or- Or Brad Pitt from fight club!" Sally continued, pointing at Barry as she spoke.
Sasha quickly agreed as you walked up with bowls of popcorn on a tray. Barry turned to the wall, pretending to admire the different art & photos that lined it. You slid the popcorn down the table when Nick, who you knew due to regular attendance, grabbed your arm.
"Hey, Y/N, do you think our friend here could pull off Brad Pitt from Fight Club?" When Nick's hand grasped Barry's shoulder, your new admirer felt like his eyes were ripped off the wall & forced to look up at you.
At least, that's what he'll tell himself. You looked him up & down, which only made him more flustered. You began to tilt your head side to side with a light smile, signifying a maybe, something that seemed to excite Barry.
"I think you could, yeah. What's the name, new guy?"
He awkwardly pointed to himself, "Me?"
"Yeah, all these nerds are regulars. They're probably all up on the wall somewhere."
Only now did Sally process the possibility of you flirting with Barry... & it working! She glared up at you but your focus was all on Barry.
He spoke softly, "My name's Bar-"
"Yeah, I'm up on the wall! Right," she dragged her word as she looked around, "There! See Barry?"
"Yeah, I see it."
A tight-lipped smile tugged it's way into place as you realized Sally had likely already sunk her claws into the new guy, she's done so before. A barely audible sigh escapes your lips.
"Well, if you guys need anything, I'll be behind the bar," with that you returned to your spot behind the bar.
It felt stupid to be upset over a guy you just met but as you watched Sally dance on the dance floor while Barry smiled at her, sealing the night with a kiss on the cheek, you couldn't help but feel a little hurt. It was dumb. It was dumb as he smiled. Dumb as she kissed his cheek. Dumb as he made his way to the exit. Dumb as he paused in the doorway, a drunk friend in tow. Dumb as he turned around.
He turned around? He was moving back towards the bar, towards you. He reached into his pocket as he walked up. Stopping in that same spot, pulling out his wallet. Watch this man hand you some sort of business card. He held out a $20 bill.
"A tip, thank you- for being nice."
"It's nothing, new guy. New around here I assume?" You attempted to make eye contact but his eyes remained glued to the floor.
"Yeah, & I'm- you can call me Barry."
"Alright, Barry, well if you ever need help getting around Los Angeles, I can give you my number," why were you taking this shot? It felt right in the moment.
"Uh yeah, do you have a napkin or something?"
A stupid idea hit you. It's not your place to go writing your number on probably taken men's arms, but you offered anyways. He scrambled to pull up his sleeve on his left arm. You chuckled at his eagerness as you grabbed a pen out of your pocket. He jolted a little when the ink hit his skin, causing you to accidentally draw a small, black line. A breathy laugh left your lips as you began writing again.
"There ya go, give me a call whenever. I'm usually free during the day."
"Thank you," he finally met your gaze, "Y/N. Have a nice night."
"You too!"
Barry returned his attention to his drunken friend & escorted him out of the bar. That butterfly feeling hit you hard at that moment. It wasn't something you should feel, Sally would definitely be upset.

The Great War
A/N: I still can't believe the Barry finale was tonight 😭 It was nice while it lasted!
Summary: You're forced to escape a dangerous situation.
Pairing: Barry Berkman x hitman!wife reader
You’ve been feeling off lately. You’re exhausted all the time and dealing with severe nausea. It’s so bad that you almost got sick during a few of your jobs. At first you thought it was just a stomach bug, but you haven’t been able to shake it. You’re starting to suspect that it’s something else…
So on a whim you went to the pharmacy and bought a pregnancy test. You did it alone. Barry is out at his acting class. He has no idea that you did this. You and Barry want to start a family so badly, but you don’t want to get your hopes up.
As soon as you get home, you rush into the bathroom to take the test. After peeing on the stick and washing your hands, you read the directions on the back of the box. It should take about 5 minutes to get the result. You set an alarm on your phone.
“Blue means pregnant,” you continue reading.
You anxiously shake the pregnancy test as if it would get you the result faster. But you know that it won’t. You shrug impatiently and put the test down. Then you look at yourself in the mirror. You put your hands on your stomach, imagining what you would look like pregnant.
You suddenly hear the front door open. Two pairs of footsteps enter the apartment. You instinctively know it’s not Barry. They are strangers who broke in.
“Fuck!” you curse to yourself.
You’re unarmed. The closest gun is in your bedroom. You wish you could get it to defend yourself, but you have no idea what type of weapons the intruders have. It’s too risky. You decide to stay put.
You lock the bathroom door and shut off the lights. You stand completely still by the door, listening to the intruders on the other side.
“The place looks empty. I don’t think she’s here,” you hear a male voice outside the door. “Keep looking,” another man replies back.
The voices are unfamiliar. Whoever they are, it sounds like they’re looking for you. You need to get out of here. You’re about to reach for your phone on the counter when-
BEEP, BEEP, BEEP
Your heart stops. Shit! It’s the alarm you set on your phone for the pregnancy test. You quickly turn the alarm off but it’s too late. Now the intruders know that you’re home.
“Somebody’s in there.”
One of the intruders tries opening the locked door. You take a few steps back. Panicked, you look toward the window. It’s your only way out.
You hastily grab your phone and the pregnancy test, stuffing them into your pocket before you rush towards the window.
BOOM
The intruders shoot a large hole through the door.
“For fuck’s sake!”
You slide open the window and carefully climb out to an adjacent balcony. There’s no way you can go back inside, you have to jump to get down. You’re about ten feet off the ground. It’s high but you know you can make it. You take a deep breath before letting go of the balcony railing.
You land awkwardly on your bare feet. You’re about to fall over but you slam your fist to the ground to give you support.
“Shit,” you wince in pain.
You didn’t break anything but your ankle is definitely sore and your knuckles are bloodied and bruised. You’re just relieved that you didn’t land on your back or stomach.
From the corner of your eye, you see two motorcycles parked close by. You’ve never seen those bikes before and no one in your building rides. They have to belong to the guys who broke in. Then you notice a strange symbol on the gas tanks. It looks kind of familiar…
“Oh fuck!”
You recognize that symbol from a job you had not so long ago. Your handler, Diane, hired you to take out a man named Shane Taylor. Shane was looking into his girlfriend’s disappearance - a crime that Diane forced you and Barry to be involved in. Diane caught wind of Shane’s investigation and asked you to stop it for good. You accepted the job without hesitation. You didn’t want this to come back on you or your husband.
Shane must have been involved in the same group as those guys looking for you. He had the exact same symbol tattooed on his collarbone that they have on their bikes. You saw the symbol when you shot Shane in the chest. You were warned by a Private investigator looking into Shane’s disappearance that some of Shane’s friends might come for you but you didn’t take it very seriously. Now you wish that you had. Those bikers know what you did and they want revenge.
You’re about to run away when you notice the pregnancy test on the ground. It had fallen out of your pocket during the jump. You pick it up and your eyes widen.
The stick is blue.
"Blue means pregnant,” you repeat quietly to yourself.
You don’t even have the time to fully react or take in this moment. You need to go now. You try running but your ankle hurts too much. It turns into a fast paced limp.
You put the pregnancy test back in your pocket and take out your phone. You want to call your husband. Maybe you can get an Uber and meet him or something. You’re trying to figure out a plan on the fly when you see Barry’s car pull up. He just arrived home from acting class.
Barry rolls down the window. He looks at you with concern. He knows something is wrong.
“Y/N! Are you okay?”
You don’t answer him. Instead, you limp to the passenger’s side and get into the car.
“DRIVE!”
Barry has no idea what’s going on, but he trusts you. He books it out of the parking lot and drives down the street, before pulling over at a dark street corner.
“Ok you need to tell me what’s going on,” your husband insists. “Some guys broke into our place!” you frantically tell him.
Barry’s face drops.
“What?!”
“I heard them break in when I was in the bathroom. They had guns, I didn’t. I locked the door and they blew a hole through it. I had to sneak out the window,” you explain.
Barry clenches his jaw.
“Do you know who it was?” he asks.
You take a deep breath and slowly nod your head.
“Yeah, uh, I think they’re connected to one of my past targets. They’re part of the same motorcycle gang. I was warned they might come but I didn’t take it seriously. I’m sorry I brought this mess home…”
Barry shakes his head.
“It’s not your fault,” he says quietly.
Barry looks back down the street towards your building. Then he reaches over and opens the glove compartment, pulling out a gun. You look at your husband, already knowing what he’s thinking.
“Are you serious? You can’t confront them. Let’s just go!” you plea.
Barry double checks if his gun is loaded. He’s so focused that you don’t think he even heard what you just said.
“Babe, I won’t let you do this. It’s a suicide mission,” you keep pushing.
Barry shrugs off your concern.
“I’ll be-” he begins before you abruptly cut him off. “Barry, I’m pregnant!” you reveal, pulling the pregnancy test out of your pocket.
Your husband’s eyes widen.
“I was taking the test in the bathroom when they broke in. If this was any other time I would back you up in confronting those guys, but not tonight. Can you please just stay with me? I really need you right now…. ” you desperately beg.
You’re now stressed to the point that you’re near tears. Maybe it’s the pregnancy hormones. You feel completely overwhelmed. So much has happened in so little time. What was supposed to be a wondrous occasion ended up like this.
Barry’s entire demeanor changes. He immediately scraps his plan. He’ll deal with the guys who broke into your place later. Right now he needs to take care of you and get you somewhere safe. Your husband softens his face and pulls you into a hug.
“Hey. Hey, it’s okay,” Barry tries, “I’m not going anywhere.”
You sigh in relief, feeling your body relax in his arms.
“Thank you.”
Barry kisses your forehead.
“We’re having a baby,” Barry smiles. “Yeah! I should go to the doctor to confirm but the stick was blue. Blue means pregnant,” you explain.
Barry happily nods. He kisses your forehead one more time and then lets you go. He still needs to get you somewhere safe.
“We’re getting out of here.”
Barry is about to pull out from the parking spot when you hear the sounds of motorcycles in the distance. The men who broke in must’ve given up and left. The motorcycles are fast approaching. Instead of racing out of there, Barry turns off the car. Whoever is looking for you thinks you’re long gone. Barry doesn’t want to get their attention. The safest option is to hide in plain sight.
Barry’s body tenses up as the motorcycles get closer. He tightens his grip on his gun. Neither of you are ready for a fight. You hold your breath and put a protective hand on your stomach.
Your husband notices how nervous you are. He reaches over and takes your hand, silently signaling that he’s got you. You squeeze it back. You hear the sound of the motorcycles getting closer and closer and then-
The bikers drive right by your car without noticing you and Barry. After they pass, you can finally breathe again. You and Barry keep an eye on the bikers, making sure they don’t circle back around. You watch the two men speed through a stop sign. Suddenly, a truck barrels through the intersection and violently plows into the two bikers.
You gasp. Barry’s jaw drops in disbelief. You’re both speechless, in shock from what you just witnessed. There’s no way either of them could have survived that collision. After a moment of silence, you finally speak up.
"Huh? Well, I guess that just solved the problem…."
A stunned Barry looks at you. He doesn’t even know what to say.

Barry Berkman Dating a Male!Reader Would Include...
Request: i love your writing holy heck like ?? i was wondering if you could do barry berkman x male!reader?
Thank you so much darling!! It’s been sooo long since I wrote for Barry which is honestly insane <3
Also thank you to the anon who reminded me that Barry lives in California, for the sake of this imagine he’s on holiday for the first bit XD
Barry would first fall in love with you sitting in his local cafe near the corner from his house. It was a cold winter’s morning, and he had wrapped himself up warm to come sit in his favourite fraying red chair in the corner, a steaming cup of coffee in his hands as the dim lights bathe the bustling downstairs seating area in a warm, homely glow.
His eyes are wide as he takes a second to look away at the script Gene asked him to memorise for next week’s acting lesson to gaze happily at the snow falling outside, revelling in the first moment of peace he’s had in the last few months.
Barry still swears to this day that it was love at first sight when he heard the little bell of the cafe tingling shut like the twinkle of little fairy wings as you step into the warmth, your frame hunched over slightly as you brush the stray snowflakes from the tips of your hair and off your jaw. His eyes widen as his jaw begins to go slack as he sees you, a blush rising on his cheeks and he looks at you, his coffee slipping onto his fingertips in hot burning droplets, onto his trousers and onto the script, but he doesn’t notice.
All he notices is you.
When he greets you for your first date, he arrives at your place with his head spinning and his heart hammering in his chest. He holds a bouquet of brimming violets and deep red roses in his shaking fist, nearly crushing the flowers against his chest when you open the door and he steps forward to hug you.
He’ll always be focused on you, because asking you questions a mile a minute with a tight grip on your hand makes you seem as if you’re actually real, and allows him to be distracted away from his life if even for just a minute.
You’ll have to accept that he drags you by the hand wherever the two of you go out for dinner. He moves too fast, forcing you to keep up with him as he pulls you along and into the restaurant.
When he wants to kiss, he suddenly gets cold feet and can’t initiate it. What if you aren’t that interested? What if you secretly hate him? What if you know who he actually is?
Instead, he’ll hold you just a bit closer, placing his head on your shoulders and staring up into your eyes. He’s hoping the closeness between you will give you the right idea.
If you decide to give into him, he’ll latch onto your lips like a lifeline, delicately placing a hand on your face to hold you close. There’s the slightest hum of satisfaction as he moves his lips against yours and a long groan that escapes his mouth if you place your hand flat against his chest.

A Pianist and A Hitman
Barry Berkman x (F) Reader
Warnings: Language
“Alright alright. Listen up” Gene calls everyone to quite down at the stage watching them take their seats. “Next week’s showcase is going to be something. So this week, we are going to test out our vocals”
“Oh my god, are we doing musicals?!” Sally smiles big watching Gene nod.
Everyone was pumped except for Barry, let alone trying to become just a decent actor what makes them think he can sing. Gene walks off to the side of the stage pushing back a bit of the curtain gesturing over Y/N who finally catches the attention of everyone.
“Guys this is Y/F/N Y/L/N. She’s going to be the pianist playing all your songs for the next week’s showcase. Y/N is going to be here for every rehearsal and if you need her for after hours practice. Ask her. Not me. I’m looking at you Jermaine”
Jermaine rolls his eyes before immediately talking to Sasha and Natalie about doing a musical number that has three parts. Sally turns to Barry with a huge smile on her face insisting on a duet as his attention was on elsewhere.
“You alright if I step out for half an hour Y/N?”
“Yes sir”
“Alright. Be right back” As soon as Gene left, Y/N places herself in front of the piano that was placed the night before on the stage. Surprised everyone just noticed it being there.
Y/N was about to ask if anyone has a song in mind when she was swarmed by a few of the actors.
“Okay okay...one at a time please?” Y/N asks with a nervous smile.
When it came to Sally and Barry’s turn, Y/N looks at the two seeing two completely different expressions. Sally was excited to do musicals finally and Barry was more worried about the fact that he can’t sing. Y/N found herself staring at Barry and his curious expression when Sally went on and on about songs from Cats, Heathers, and a few from movies which Y/N isn’t a huge fan of but she’s only there to accompany with the piano.
“How about Only Us?”
“Only Us?”
“It’s a song from Dear Evan Hansen. Between the main female and male lead” Y/N states before starting to play the opening of the song to give him an idea. “Do you know the lyrics Sally?”
“Yes! By heart!”
“And...you can follow along with me...?”
“Barry” Barry smiles catching a subtle blush resting on Y/N’s cheeks.
“Alright. Just listen first. Then you can try with Sally” Y/N states as she thinks to herself about the lyrics before sighing to herself. “Start from “What do you say?” “
Sally smiles resting her laptop with the open lyrics for Barry as she clears her throat.
“What do you say?”
“I never thought there’d be someone like you who would want me”
“Well” Sally laughs as Barry’s attention from her turns to Y/N.
“So I give you ten thousand reasons to not let me go. But if you really see me. If you like me for me and nothing else” Y/N gave Barry a look to join her in singing his part.
“Well, that's all that I've wanted for longer than you could possibly know” Barry sings with Y/N catching Sally off guard along with Y/N. “So it can be us. It can be us. And only us”
Sally clicks record on her laptop to review this later as Y/N started smiling.
“And what came before won't count anymore or matter. We can try that” Barry and Y/N sang together.
“It's not so impossible” All three sang as the next line Y/N cut herself out to hear Barry by himself.
“Nobody else but the two of us here” Barry locks eyes with Y/N when he sings that line seeing the hint of pink emerge on Y/N’s cheeks causing the same reaction.
“Cause you're saying it's possible” The two sang as Y/N watches Sally rest her hand on Barry’s cheek making him face her when they sang.
“We can just watch the whole world disappear” Sally smiles and continue to when she sings directing it to Barry.
Y/N continues to play for the rest of the song as the whole class watches the two of them sing this duet. Once the song finishes and Y/N stops playing, the classic slow clap that came from Gene was heard first before the rest of the class including Y/N joins the applause for the two.
“Barry! Who the fuck knew you could sing like that?!” Gene smiles resting both hands on Barry’s shoulders. “You my good sir. Are going to be the star of the showcase with this duet.”
“Yes!” Sally cheers before embracing Barry after Gene releases himself from him to walk to Y/N’s side.
“You are quite the helper” Gene pats Y/N’s back as she hasn’t drawn her attention away from the two in front of her until she snapped herself back into reality smiling up at Gene. “I know your not a student of mine, but it’d be an honor if you could do a piece for our showcase. The great pianist is also a great singer”
“Oh. Gene I can’t-“
“Come on! It’ll be fun” Sally couldn’t help but intrude as Y/N gave a nervous look until-
“You are a great singer Y/N. The more the merrier for the showcase right Mr. Cousineau?” Barry exchanges a smile with Y/N as Gene nods agreeing.
Once the class was over, Y/N stayed in for a moment to collect her things. She sat at the piano starting to play the piece she’s thinking about singing and that’s “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Misérables. Right before Y/N was going to sing-
“Hey” Barry greets walking back into the stage room catching Y/N’s attention. “Sorry if I was..”
“No no! It’s fine Barry. What’s up?” Y/N closes the keys before looking up at Barry as he comes closer to the piano.
“Uh. The others are getting drinks and I was w-wondering if you’d like to tag along?” Barry rubs the back of his neck nervously as Y/N smiles before grabbing her bag.
“Sure, why not?” Y/N continues to smile as Barry couldn’t help but return it. He started to admire the smile of someone he just met that day.
But it felt like he’s known her forever.
“That was fucking amazing Barry” Nick states handing Barry his drink as Y/N sat beside him. “You should honestly do a solo instead of a duet with Sally man”
“Hey don’t give him the idea” Sally laughs as Natalie rolls her eyes handing Y/N and her their drinks.
“You could always ask Mr. Cousineau to do more than one song in the showcase”
“I Uh. Think I’ll just stick with the duet with Sally” Barry laughs nervously watching Y/N down her drink for a reason only she knows.
“So, Y/N?” Sally smirks looking at Y/N giving off a very territorial kind of aura. “How do you know Mr. Cousineau?”
“Broadway” Y/N crosses her arms giving a look at Sally as Natalie and Sasha perk up when she said that.
“As actors?”
“Well. He was in the audience and I was substituting for the main pianist”
“What play?” Jermaine asks as Barry watches how tense Y/N got the more Sally and the others stared at her.
“The King and I, Uh I-“
“I’m going to get some air, the bar is kind of stuffy at the moment” Barry blurts gesturing for Y/N to come with him.
“Yeah. I’m gonna join you on getting fresh air”
“Well you two better come back when the karaoke machine is finally set up”
“Sure Nick” Barry smiles before walking with Y/N outside the front of the bar.
Once they were outside, Y/N immediately sat on the curb sighing with some relief. Barry checked who was messaging him reading Fuches as he immediately ignored it and sat down beside her looking at her upset expression.
“Everything alright?”
“Yeah, just confused I guess”
“Confused about what...?”
“Actors are a bit intimidating, that’s why I don’t work with them often. I’m just a pianist.”
“Then why’d your agree to do this for Mr. Cousineau?”
“When a friend comes to you for help, you don’t always have to say no” Y/N held herself rubbing her arms to warm herself up. “Besides. Knowing Gene? Who doesn’t owe him some kind of a favor?”
“You got a point there...” Barry laughs slightly before taking off his coat and draping it comfortably on Y/N’s shoulders.
“Thanks” Y/N blushes slipping in her arms through the sleeves hugging herself. “So...If you don’t mind me asking...”
“Go ahead?”
“What’s up with you and that Sally girl?”
“She’s just my acting partner”
“Oh thank god” Y/N quickly covered her mouth after saying that, she felt a bit embarrassed as she quickly stood to her feet. “I guess downing my drink earlier hit faster than...I expected. But hey. That’s not how alcohol works. At least I think it doesn’t” she continued to ramble as Barry got up from the curb before grabbing Y/N’s shoulders.
“Calm down”
“Sorry”
“No need...to apologize”
Y/N stood still staring at Barry as he felt an urge and immediately acted upon it. He grabs her face gently pressing his lips against hers. The sudden action should’ve made Y/N resist, but she didn’t. She enjoyed what was happening. When they parted, Y/N’s phone started ringing catching her off guard a bit. She ends it quickly before opening her contacts handing Barry her phone.
“Gotta keep in contact right?” Y/N smiles watching Barry plug in his phone number before handing his phone back.
“Of course” Barry returns the smile about to lean in for another kiss when they were interrupted by the rest of the actors heading out.
“See yeah later alligator” Y/N smirks putting her hands in his coat jacket before heading out.
——
“I told you never to come here”
“Barry. You never said where this is until I figured it out myself. Trust me. It wasn’t that fucking hard”
“Leave Fuches. Before the show starts”
“You better answer that call Barry”
“Over my dead body” Barry snaps walking into the building.
Fuches scoffs before leaving the premises, giving the man very limited space.
After one fantastic showcase, everyone was congratulating each other and the audience had a few recruiters that went up to a few of the students making Gene very proud. Y/N watches Barry talk to a few of them, she couldn’t stop staring that Gene caught on.
“Do you like one of my students Y/N?”
“Gene—You can’t just ask that”
“Well the locked gaze says otherwise. I’m an excellent observer” Gene laughs sitting with Y/N on the piano bench as they were now just people watching. “I know I’m not your father but-“
“You’ll have my back if anything?”
“Damn. Y/N is a mind reader too? What can’t you do?”
“Act” Y/N laughs along with Gene as the two were soon approached by Barry.
“Now that’s my queue” Gene smiles escorting himself out as Barry took the empty seat.
Y/N smiles noticing the rose in Barry’s hand. “Did you get that from somebody?”
“No. I got it for you.” Barry smiles handing it off. “You were excellent”
“Excuse me? The closing duet between you and Sally was beyond excellent. Absolutely stunning” Y/N smiles at Barry as he sneaks a kiss happily.
The pianist and the hitman, what more could happen.

Pretty//Barry Berkman Imagine
A/N: Based on my own recent struggles with body image
Warnings: Very insecure reader, plus sized!reader, implied past eating disorders, language, and one fatphobic jerk of an original male character
Prompt: Your entire life you had never felt pretty. Not ugly per say, but defiantly not pretty either. But thinking you weren’t pretty and having your scene partner insult you on stage in front of Mr. Cousineau, your classmates/friends, and your boyfriend Barry, were too very different things.
“How could you do this to me Paul? How could you hurt me like this?!”
You paced back and forth across the stage, script in hand and living for the focused attention of Gene and your classmates as you read off your lines. A choked sob escaped your throat as you walked up to Brian and shook your head.
“Don’t you love me?”
Brian shook his head, his voice lacking in enthusiasm as he grabbed you by the arms and shook you a little rougher than you expected him to in a class exercise. You dropped your script in surprise but didn’t stop him. You were impressed by how deep into the scene he seemed to slip.
“Of course I love you, Annie! I’ve always loved you!” He stared at you intently as you waited for him to deliver his next line. ‘That’s why I did this, Annie! Don’t you see? It’s because I love you too much!”
He shoved you away by your shoulders, again, rougher than you expected. You stumbled but kept your balance, shaking your head but keeping with the scene.
“What do you mean, Paul? Will you tell me or are you too much of a coward?”
Brian had his back to you but whirled back around, running his hand down his face roughly.
“Ah, you wouldn’t understand! A pretty girl like you-”
He couldn’t finish his sentence because he began laughing hysterically like he had just heard the funniest thing in his life. Your brows furrowed as you stared at him.
“Um?” You muttered, not sure how to respond.
You looked over into the audience where everyone was exchanging confused glances. Your eyes met Barry’s and he looked at you for an answer but you just shook your head. Gene stood up from his seat and approached the stage unamused.
“I’m sorry! I didn’t realize this was a comedy Mr. Sanders?!”
“I’m sorry!” Brian laughed, almost doubled over. “I’m sorry, it’s just, even I’m not that good of an actor.”
He straightened up, gesturing to you with a smirk.
Your face fell at his words and you felt the back of your neck heat up. Brian was new in the class. He’d only been coming to classes for a week and this was your first time doing a scene together. Gene had assigned you to work together and even then, when Gene assigned pairs you knew Brian hadn’t wanted to work with you. He scowled at you every time he saw you, looking you up and down in disgust. Brian was tall and muscular, blonde hair and blue eyes. He wore gel in his hair and tight blue jeans. He was the kind of guy who would have made fun of you in high school. But you guessed some people would never out grow high school.
You know what you look like. You know what jean size you wore and how many x’s were on your shirt tags. You know all the so called flaws on your face and body, you picked them apart in the mirror each night. You didn’t need jerks like Brian Sander to point them out to you. It was him pointing them out in a room full of your friends that bothered you. You felt your stomach drop and caught Barry’s eye. He sat forward in his chair and stared with a tight jaw at Brian. He caught your eye and you immediately tore your gaze down a few rows to Sally looking between Gene and Brian, engrossed in the drama, before looking down at your feet.
“And what is that supposed to mean?” Gene asked. “Good actors can work through anything Brian.”
No one wanted to acknowledge Brian’s words and you were almost grateful for that. You didn’t want to hear them agree. Brian shook his head, laughing again.
“Yeah, Mr. Cousineau but come on!” He gestured to you again. “I’m supposed to be able to act attracted to Y/N? Is that even possible?”
“Hey!” Barry spoke up in a firm voice, “Come on man. Apologize. Now.” He nodded leaving no room for argument.
Brian shook his head, “Look Bucky, I don’t care what kind of kinky stuff you must be into if you’re into this chick, but even you’ve got to admit she’s not-”
“Apologize.” Barry cut him off, voice hard and restrained.
You closed your eyes, shame, dread, and embarrassment building up in you until you couldn’t take it anymore. You rushed off stage, kicking your script out of the way as you went. You rushed into the women’s rest room and found yourself locked in a stall, fighting the urge to vomit. Ironic, you thought, considering as a teenager fighting the urge to vomit had never been your problem. Even that hadn’t made much of a difference though. There were tears streaming down your face, choking you, making it harder and harder to breath.
You always knew you weren’t pretty. You knew it and you lived with it. You didn’t think you were ugly, just not pretty. You were chubbier than your friends, your hair would never behave, and you could spend hours picking apart your chin, eyebrows, nail beds, nose, etc. in a mirror if given the chance. It drove Barry crazy. You remember the first time he told you that you were beautiful. You thought he was making fun of you. He was horrified, after that he told you everyday how beautiful he thought you were. The way he looked at you, the way he touched you, you could almost believe him.
No one had ever looked at you that way before. Especially, not while in the same room as Sally. You felt another hot wave of anger wash over your cold body, making you feel sick. Now every time Barry looked at you he'd remember Brian's words. The whole class would. You let out a choked sob, not fighting the hot tears rolling down your face. You felt pathetic, a grown woman hiding in the bathroom crying, running out of the room instead of facing criticism. The thought made you cry harder.
The bathroom door slammed against the women's room wall and heavy footsteps followed before someone banged on the stall door with their hand.
"Y/N? Come on, open the door, Y/N." Barry asked gently.
You sniffled and shook your head even though you knew he couldn't see you.
"Barry, get out of here. This is the women's room."
"I don't care right now." He sighed, "Look, please come out? Brian’s just a dick and I told him so. The whole class did."
You sniffled again, hating how pathetic you sounded. "Really?"
“Yeah, really. Natalie and Sally let him have it. Everyone out there cares about you, you know? You don’t deserve to be treated like that. You’re amazing. I wish you could have seen yourself up there Y/N. You were incredible.”
You pressed your eyes together tight and pushed away the tear tracks on your face.
“I hate looking at myself, Barry.” You took a shuddering breath. “Yeah, Brian’s a dick, but everything he said out there was true. I’m just not pretty. Knowing everyone thinks so though isn’t the same as hearing someone say it on a stage in a room full of people.”
There was a pause and Barry sighed, “Please just come out here Y/N?”
You hesitated so long Barry thought you weren’t coming out. He perked up at the sound of the stall lock clicking and the door slowly swung open. His heart broke at your red eyes, still wet with tears and your deep, troubled frown. There was a brief urge to storm out of the room and go find Brian but he pushed it down and opened his arms. You stepped forward into them and he pulled you into a tight hug. Your arms made their way around his stomach, the material of his shirt soft against your cheek and the smell of his cologne comforting. He ran his hand down your back softly and you broke.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry you have to deal with me and that I’m such an embarrassment, and, God! You shouldn’t even be with me! You could do so much better. I mean look at me?”
You rambled, burying your face deeper into his shirt before Barry grabbed your shoulders and pulled you back. You were startled by the tears in his own eyes when he looked at you.
“I could do better? Y/N, what are you-? How-, You’re amaz-, I’m-.”
Your brows furrowed as Barry let you go and ran his fingers through his hair in frustration, not able to pick the words to get across his point.
“I’m not really good with words.” He groaned and shook his head, turning around to look at you with a tired smile. “I really wish you could just see yourself like I do. You’re beautiful. Sometimes when I see you it’s like I forget how to breath. Which just isn’t fair because it means you always have the upper hand! I could be having the worse day and then you smile at me and I just feel better. It’s like you have a superpower of something! But it doesn’t really matter what you look like because you’re my best friend and you’re so smart and you’re nice to everybody, even people who don’t deserve it, and your like the best actor I know. I don’t know how you haven’t realized yet that I’m the one who doesn’t deserve you but I don’t.”
You were full on crying now, standing in shock and listening to Barry speak. You shook your head, “Are you done?”
He pursed his lips nervously and nodded softly, “Yeah?”
You lunged forward and wrapped your arms around his stomach again. Immediately Barry hugged you back, pressing a kiss into your hair.
“I love you Barry Block.” You spoke confidently even though you were still in tears.
You could feel Barry smile into your hair and kiss you again. One conversation wasn’t going to make you feel better overnight. It couldn’t stop you from having bad days where you picked yourself apart and worse sweatshirts in 80 degree weather. But you knew for sure you wouldn’t have to face those days alone anymore with Barry by your side.

Barry x Male!Reader Idea (In Progress)
Istg I'm writing a Barry x Male!Reader where Reader is a bartender at Residuals & when they first see each other Barry gets all confused (sexuality) & Sally tries to keep Barry to herself while Barry slowly but surely falls for Reader instead.
Featuring: Barry being even more confused than he already is, a lot of angst, Barry actually receiving the mental help he needs, etc.
If you want to be tagged when I finish part 1, comment!
(I haven't finished the show yet but as of right now I hate Sally, she could totally improve throughout the show but idc, this is currently a Sally hate blog lmao)

a/n: i just wanted to write some fluff
summary: After a scare, Barry and his wife worry that they can’t keep their daughter safe.
pairing: Barry Berkman x hitman!wife reader
WAHHH
It’s the middle of the night. You and Barry are sleeping in bed, when you’re suddenly woken up by the baby monitor. Your daughter, Ivy, is crying.
“I got this,” you groggily tell your husband.
Barry rolls over as you get out of bed. You start walking towards the door and then-
“Shhhh! Everything’s going to be okay,” you hear an unfamiliar male voice on the baby monitor.
You freeze in place. Your skin goes pale and your heart sinks to your stomach. No! No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no! An intruder is in your daughter’s nursery.
This can’t be happening. When you got pregnant, you and Barry quit your jobs because you wanted to keep your baby safe. You were determined to protect her from the violent world that you used to be a part of. But you didn’t get out entirely clean, you left behind a few enemies. Whoever is in Ivy’s room has to be from your old life… and they are here to harm your little girl.
“Fuck!” you curse to yourself.
You rush over to Barry in a panic.
“Babe, you need to get up now!” you forcefully shake your husband, trying to wake him up.
You quickly run over to your bedside table. You open the top drawer and pull out a gun that you saved from the old days.
“Mhmmm?” Barry sleepily responds. He didn’t even register what you said.
“There’s a man in Ivy’s room,” you urgently whisper.
Barry immediately jolts awake like a man possessed. He jumps out of bed, pushes the mattress to the side and hastily grabs an old gun from the bedspring. While Barry is loading his gun, you dash out the door.
“Y/N, wait!”
Your husband races after you. He finally catches up just as you reach the door to Ivy’s room. You exchange a quick, knowing look before storming into the nursery with your guns raised.
You and Barry scan the room. Nobody is here. You go up to the crib to find Ivy sleeping peacefully.
“She’s okay. She’s safe,” you let out a huge sigh of relief.
Barry reaches for the baby monitor on the bureau and inspects it.
“Shhhhh! It’s okay,” you hear a man cooing on the other end of the monitor.
“A neighbor must have the same monitor as us,” Barry shrugs.
You take a deep breath and nod. You feel so stupid right now.
“C’mon, we should let her rest,” Barry tells you.
You and Barry leave Ivy’s nursery. You stand outside the door as you both try to collect yourselves.
“That was really fucking scary,” you breathe.
Barry puts a supportive hand on your shoulder to help calm you down.
“I’m such a fucking idiot,” you mumble.
You slide your back down the wall and take a seat right outside your daughter’s door.
Barry sits down beside you, “No you’re not.”
“I really thought that was our old life coming back to haunt us,” you sigh.
“I know,” your husband nods. He thought the same thing.
“We left all that shit behind to keep our daughter safe but sometimes I’m afraid we’ll never be able to give her peace,” you quietly admit.
“Yeah but we got out and that’s all that matters,” Barry tries.
“Is it?” you shyly ask, looking down at your lap.
Barry takes your hand, intertwining his fingers with yours.
“Y/N, we’re doing good. We’ve got everything we need. We’ll be okay,” Barry reassures you.
You nod and then nuzzle your head in Barry’s shoulder. You sit in a comfortable silence for a moment.
“You ready to go back to bed?” Barry asks.
“Not yet,” you shake your head, “I just want to stay out here a little while longer.”
“Okay.”
You both remain seated outside your daughter’s room, before eventually falling asleep together on the floor.
