Lots of new #exciting works arriving daily in the #BarnOwlBothy - so if you are looking for a #special #unique #gift you are welcome to come and take a browse this weekend when we will be reopening . Ligia produces #woodwork which is sculptured from life - I asked her for a few words regarding what influenced her latest #artwork . In Ligia words ‘ growing up our family, like many others, had the #willowpattern tableware, so I’ve always associated plates with #blueandwhite white designs. After some research into blue and white pottery from China I noticed that a lot the designs had flowers and repetitive patterns, so for my first ‘#basketry illusion’ I drew up a template which consisted of a circle divided into 120 equal segments, and 14 rounds, as I found that size was a good fit for the rim on the sycamore bowl I was making. I love this new #wall plaque by #MaggieIrving - #TurningPoint. I don’t think I’ve ever seen #artwork like this before so I had to ask Maggie for some information..... personally I see #VanGogh too...... In her words ‘This piece was inspired by a visit to Dornoch cathedral and the stunning stained glass. I wanted to put an #ArtDeco/#ClariceCliff spin on my #interpretation of the #cathedral. The technique involves using a special paint to create the lines. Then a #glasspaint is applied to each section and special effect paints are dropped on the surface and gently manipulated to create various effects. It takes about 4-5 days to cure. #LochFleet (#Scottish #Gaelic: #Loch #Fleòid) is a #sealoch on the #eastcoastofscotland #Scotland, located between #Golspie and #Dornoch. It forms the #estuary of the #River #Fleet, a small spate river that rises in the hills east of #Lairg. Loch Fleet is a good example of a large #tidal #basin with #sanddunes, #mudflats, #coastal #heath and #pinewoods. The pinewoods support #Scottish #crossbills, #crestedtits and #pinemartens, #heron, #otters and #seals......and so much more...... I’ve often thought the view of the #sluicegates would make an awesome painting ( hint hint the talented artists in the Bothy ).
