Dew looks up from arranging the nest in their hotel bed to see Phantom standing awkwardly to the side, arms wrapped around themself.

“Hey, what the pout for Baby Bug? Everything alright?”

Phantom goes to nod, then shakes their head, then nods again, and then shrugs.

“I’m okay. Just realized I left my bat plushie.”

Dew’s eyes get huge and he’s scrambling for his phone.

“Did he get left at the venue? I’ll let Papa know and he can send someone-”

Phantom frantically waves their hands to interrupt.

“No! No, Batty is just on the bus. I just accidentally didn’t grab him.”

Dew sighs in relief but then frowns again. “I don’t know if the bus driver is still up. I can go find out-”

Again Phantom interrupts.

“No! It’s fine. Sorry.”

“What are you apologizing for sweetheart?”

Phantom stares at the ground and tightens their arms around themself.

“Feel like I’m being a pain. It’s just a plushie.”

Dew huffs. “Batty is not just a plushie. He’s a very important member of our pack. You’re not being a pain at all.”

Phantom looks up and they smile a little.

“Thanks Dew.”

“Tell you what,” Dew rummages around in his overnight bag, withdrawing his crochet Baphomet plushie Cumulus made for him. “How about you cuddle Baphy tonight? Would that help?”

“Really? Is that okay?”

“Of course Bug. Baphy’s sweet. I promise they won't bite.”

Dew waggles the plushie before bringing it in to nuzzle Phantom’s nose. It has the intended effect and they giggle.

“Go ahead and get comfy in the nest. I’ll be right there.”

Phantom does so as Dew ducks into the bathroom to send a quick text. Then he’s curling up around Phantom and the quint is fast asleep in no time.

Phantom sleeps soundly until he rouses to light filtering in from the hall and quiet voices. Dew is no longer next to them.

“Dew?” They call sleepily. The light disappears and the fire ghoul rounds the corner and cozies back up in bed.

“It’s okay. Go back to sleep, Bug.” He kisses Phantom’s brow and quietly slides their bat plushie into their arms alongside the goat plushie.

“Hmm…” They mumble as they drift back off.

When they both wake in the morning the first thing out of Phantom’s mouth is:

“Batty?! Huh? How?”

Dew swears he has no idea what happened.

“He must have flown up here cause he missed you.” He shrugs.

Phantom just eyes his bat plushie with wonder.

Over breakfast, Dew nods to Swiss in thanks for the save last night. The multi ghoul just grins.

may i present to you the PLUSHIE SHELF

Roughly from left to right: Yakko, Wakko, and Dot, a Nyan Cat my mom's friend made with her sewing machine, a Shy Little Kitten from my mom, an alebrije I think my dad got me, a vampire in a swimsuit (it's pretty hidden, you can only see its head), a demon plushie from a project my dad backed on Kickstarter (Lucy Bellwood’s 100 Demon Dialogues), a little orange tabby cat beanie babie, Marie from Aristocats, the thing wrapped in plastic is a little Nightmare Before Christmas themed mini top hat that was a gift, a Smilodon I got from the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, a pink alpaca that was a gift from a friend, Ash Williams Evil Dead, a blue dragon orb that my friend bought me bc it reminded her of Underling Bad End Theater, a bushbaby (hidden behind the blue dragon), two Webkins cat plushies (the tuxedo cat is named Andy and the orange tabby is named Allie), a black cat orb that I bought at the mall when I was out with friends, a sock monkey superhero from my dad and stepmom for my birthday, a leopard print scalemate that my friend @/hiddency handmade for me years ago, two different cheetah plushies under the scalemate (the more squished one on the left is named Piston, my dad came up with it when i was really little, and the one on the right more in the front is named Cheese and he's my emotional support boy), a leopard print Baphomet plush whom I lovingly call Baphy (Dark Lord plush in the color Rockabilly from Killstar, limited line), a black cat that you can BARELY see (I've had her for so long that I KNOW she has a name but I cannot remember it for the life of me), a calico cat orb, another black cat you can barely see (I stole that one from work), SkippyJon Jones, he's wearing a Disney Cheshire Cat mouse ear hat and one of those ears has a pin of the exact same hat pierced in the ear, ANOTHER cheetah plushie that was a gift from a friend, Spyro the Dragon, a sea lion plushie that you can barely see behind Spyro's horns, and a shiba inu.

Stuff that doesn't fit on the shelf includes: a life sized cheetah (who my mom named Mr. Cheetah), with a giant python on his back (I wanted to adjust it so you could see the entire thing but I saw a spider in that corner the other day so I didn't wanna touch it too much), and on my bed is a cat plushie that was a gift from a friend, it sleeps on my bed every night :)

and that's just the stuff in my bedroom.

Left to right: a yellow cat plushie that's made to be decapitated (its head is velcroed onto its body), a tiny chocolate milk carton stuffy, a little porg that my mom found on top of a trash can at Disneyland and took it home and washed it and gave it to me, and a purple borb (bird orb) that someone I don't talk to anymore made for me.

A simple question and one that meant so much. She had never once let anyone touch the babe clinging to her bosom, and yet here she was offering him up. The idea hadn’t even crossed her mind, but as her sleep ridden body continued to grow evermore tired. She feared she didn’t have much of a choice but to offer.

Despite it all evergreen hues swim with innocence. Head tilts, obsidian locks fall as she gazes upon the founder. The infant nestled safely within her arms, before timidly holding the babe out for him to take. Aside from being sleep ridden. Something itched. A curiosity ticked deep within her belly. Kotoha couldn’t help but wonder what he would look like holding a child. Would he be a good 𝘧𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳? She hoped to stick around long enough to find out, but until then. This would have to suffice.

and there was a blink of radiant hues. immediately, he raises his hands, “oh no ��� i shouldn’t…!” he’d held children before, but never one as important as little inosuke. he looks between kotoha and the little one — before he starts to notice the bags under her eyes, and the fragility to her voice. it seemed difficult to speak up for her — was she really so tired?

slowly, he lowers his hands — edging closer. he still looked nervous, admittedly, but he turns back on his initial decision, “well… maybe for a little while.”

a smile, as he gently nestles hands under inosuke; a moment of gentleness between. she felt so warm, and he felt so cold — he hoped it wouldn’t disturb her (or the baby), to witness such a thing.

“hey there, inosuke,” voice gentle and melodic — it wasn’t exactly a rarity for children to fall asleep listening to him, “i’m going to take you from your momma for a moment. you see, she looks,” a glance to kotoha, “very tired. and that’s not your fault — but i’m going to help you both through it.”

and then, he sweetly scoops up the infant. a hint of a purr leaves him — but he cuts it off before anyone suspects anything.

“i like your eyes,” smile like gentle sunlight on a winter’s morn, “just like kotoha’s.”

The Satanic Temple made Fox News, so presumably they're very pleased with themslves

Is it funny that they blurred out the front of the figure? Yes, it's very funny.

TST gives these sort things to get outraged about, then TST can sell some merch about it.

Fox News and the far right much prefer the idea that The Satanic Temple is trying to summon the Devil himself or whatever. For 80-year-olds watching the TV and terrified that mobs of Satanic killers are on the loose just outside their neighborhood, this is fucking fear-heroin.

In contrast, the truth—that TST is using news for free advertising to sell T-shirts with funds going to TST's for-profit business—is disappointing and honestly, it's a grift many would have to respect as just good capitalism.
