1) Having a very “bang on this drum” Friday, but alas, I still have web page edits to make (Pbbbbt!)

2) I wish I were more excited about this gala tonight. I was going to see if I could get a new dress at lunch, but I think I’m just going to wear my black jumpsuit. It’s comfortable and it fits and whatever. Maybe I’ll feel more jazzed once I’m gussied.

3) Part of the problem is that I have feelings about my current body composition. It’s time to once again find a gym or a studio or a trainer. On my own, I’m going to continue losing and gaining the same 15 lbs over and over again like I have been ever since I turned 40 (and I’m about to be 44). I must make peace with the fact that, at this age, I can no longer handle my exercise needs casually on my own.

4) My merit raise turned into an “MVP” raise that needed special approval. It’s not much over the department cap for merit raises, but considering braces and the dishwasher and the 6,000 other things that need fixing around here, every little bit helps. Also, tell me again what an MVP I am. Lean into the mic, please.

5) I’m spending the day in Charlotte tomorrow. Why? No spoilers.

The irony about people saying things like 'I want to see more about charter x outside a shipping context' is those fan creations proceed to get very little interest from fandom.

Trust me, there'd be plenty more gen fics and metas about characters if more of fandom was into it. But if a creator has a limited amount of creative energy (most do) and has to choose between their two cool ideas, one they know will get looked at because it's ship content, and one they can be reasonably sure will be largely ignored for focusing on a character outside of a ship setting (especially a character of color and double extra a WoC), what are they going to make?

Preferably, given enough time and energy, both. But when they can't reasonably expect to get to both, are they actually going to choose the one which won't get read or seen? Probably not. And I don't think it's fair to blame creators for choosing that either.

If people want more non-ship content in fandom they need to put their likes/comments/reblogs/kudos where their mouths are. Posting about 'I want more of x outside a ship context' and never interacting with any of it is why there isn't any. The call is coming from inside the house.
