Banette!

Another 4 hour practice! This time, it was to emulate a simple style that still feels engaging and "fun." I wanted to add more detail in the smoke to make it something more than blocks of color, but I refrain because I wanted Banette to be the center focus.

I also noticed there's a color I always land on... send help

How...Safe, is sewing Banette skin? Felt? Not really sure what it is. Recently, a friend of mine has vented to me about how a lot of people (strangers) have commented on how "ugly" their Banette is. They've confided that it does make them self-conscious over their care for it (They're starting out as a coordinator) and asked me (a hobbyist tailor) to see if I could customize Banette. I rejected the offer mainly out of concern for both them and Corduroy (Banette)

you made the right call. banette's skin is full of...well, not nerve endings, but there's a high concentration of ghost type energy in there. that's why it sticks pins into its body as a way of generating the energy it needs to lay powerful curses. trying to sew it up would 1. probably make it angry and 2. endanger you.

i understand where your friend is coming from, and i know it's tough to have people comment negatively on your pokemon. however, that doesn't mean it's ok to risk your pokemon's health and happiness because of comments from strangers who are likely commenting out of a lack of exposure to ghost types. what matters most is that your pokemon is happy and healthy. i'd recommend your friend look into skin conditioners designed for making pokemon's skin and fur look glossy if they want to help their banette look its best, but otherwise they need to make sure that they're always acting in corduroy's best interest and not because they're worried about what other people are saying.
