Crocodile looks behind him to be certain that Klaus is following. Since the young man had joined him, he had not really had him leave his side. He had a soft spot for crocodilians, his own private pets being Bananacrocs. He was certainly intrigued by Klaus's zoan, a crocodile that was so obviously built to be terrestrial, a crocodile that was made for a desert not a swamp.

He had plans to oversee the casino floor today, and it would do well for Klaus to be at his side. While the Warlord himself was enough to deter hoodlums, it was nice to not have to lift a finger if push came to shove. "Anything that has been observed that I need to be made aware of?"

Seasons change, stars drift across the heavens, and in long quiet moments the human mind returns once again to the eternal question: what even is a crocodile?

A scaled cat that holds you close in slumber?

A fevered memory of colourful wings?

An acute angle out for blood?

The worst pig?

A horrible little man with a moustache?

A banana?

Or is it possible that, as some philosophers have suggested, the true crocodile lives inside our imaginations, making it impossible to judge any answer right or wrong?

Okay look, yes, I suppose ‘Wani’ probably means both ‘crocodile’ and ‘alligator’ in Japanese, and, yes, crocodiles and alligators are both crocodilians, BUT IN THE CASE OF REFERRING TO CROCODILE (AND THE BANANAWANI) ‘WANI’ MEANS ‘CROCODILE’ AND GATOR AND CROC ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE TERMS!

It’s just always been like this

Prior to the starving time, the system went thru shit, drinking, drugs, cheating on our partner, sex work under tables and in bathrooms for kicks. They had each other for that

then I woke up and I did a pretty good run at starving myself out, completely ignored by the system until I was too weak to resist a straight up body-hijack, and I went dormant for... like a year and a half?

The system got us eating and slowly recovering weight and strength, meeting people, (including our now wife) and also generally fucking things up, either they OD’d or I woke up enough to, it’s too difficult to parse the exact truth of that one

I ran the body again, completely ignored, to get Azura from the airport, and having to deal with some pretty devastating things that got dropped right in my lap like being left with the hangover without drinking

I go dormant again for another better part of two year period, system members trying to become better people or raise children to be better people

and I wake up again and they try real hard to include me and not be dicks to me, and the moment I do something they don’t like, they turn horrible

and now we’re apart because they hate me

Zero and Diz, the fuckin chuckle-twins, nice and soft people who’re about as effective at evil as a sea sponge at walking hate me

can you even believe that?

Zero and Diz hate me

And that’s just fucked up like I can’t even believe it

I can believe Zero’s father and step-mom hating me, because they actually had the capacity to be total bastards when they wanted to

But like, Zero and Diz? That’s like a bananacroc plushie saying it hates me

G-d probably hates me, too
