Tumblr, we need your help!
Hi all, I'm making this post to inform everyone about a user that currently goes by the name @/basedhartman. This person is notorious in agere and therian spaces, however, they aren't so well known outside of these niche communities.
In the past, Basedhartman has shown their hatred towards multiple groups including disabled people, age regressors, LGBTQ+ people, anyone who isn't Christian, and many, many more. This user has been harassing others for many months now, coming back with a new account every time.
Most recently, they were banned after they exposed minors to real images of gore on their blog. As members of the platform, we can't allow this abhorrent behaviour to continue.
Please block and report this user. Reblog so we can spread the word and put an end to this. I'll be tagging a number of some of the more popular blogs (and some others too) on this site so this message can be spread to as many people as possible.
Thank you for reading; let's make Tumblr a safe place for everyone.
I'd also like to thank to my closest mutual @scary-friend for giving me the courage to post this.

Honestly I lowkey think the timmy hate is valid, I mean think about it, most of his wishes and hi-jinx come from malicious intent and he isn’t stupid, he knows this, he kept cosmo and wanda and everyone else frozen in time for fifty years, and withheld that information from literally everyone just so he could keep them locked with him forever, he set fire to a city (timmy’s secret wish) almost caused the universe to collapse (cosmo rules) being hella mean to cosmo and wanda (Timmy TV, One Man Banned etc etc) not to mention all of his wishes come from selfishness, sure he may be ten, but no sane ten year old would even think about doing these things, even in a neglectful situation similar to timmy’s, also think about it, during the original show cosmo and wanda are shown to despise each other, this from a writers standpoint is butch hartmans boomer humor but I’m thinking from an in universe perspective, being around timmy and dealing with his selfish attitude and horrible behavior for fifty years would most definitely put a major strain on their relationship, now look at how they behave when around chloe, they clearly show signs of loving each other and show off them being couple-y together, and they’re so much happier together after immediately going into retirement after timmy, he kept them confined again FOR FIFTY YEARS. And hazel is genuinely a kid who is struggling, yet her wishes stem from her own insecurities, NOT malicious intent. Same goes for her hi-jinx. And yes dev is also selfish and kind of awful in the personality department but it makes sense because his character is supposed to be a morally grey antagonist type of character. That was just my two cents on the whole timmy hate debate, you don’t have to agree but I thought I would give my opinion :3
-💚🪄
wow, that's a lot. Again I don't really have an opinion on this subject but it is pretty cool to see y'all thoughts on it

Vivian Yin at LGBTQ Nation:
As trans people continue to be targeted in state legislatures, they are finding mundane acts like using public bathrooms and finding new doctors risky, according to a recent poll. In Florida, for example, some trans folks say they are peeing in in bottles to avoid the harassment they face in public bathrooms after Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed a law requiring people to use bathrooms and locker rooms that correspond to the sex they were assigned at birth. But a political shift may be coming. Several advocacy groups, including the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), believe that the movement around anti-LGBTQ+ policies is losing steam.
In Georgia, the battle over anti-LGBTQ+ legislation lasted until the final hours of this past legislative session. In the end, no such bills passed or even made it to a vote in the Georgia House, in spite of the Republican majorities in both chambers. Jeff Graham, executive director of Georgia Equality, waited in the state house past midnight on March 29 with around 30 other people — most of whom were trans or the parents of trans children. Graham told The 19th that many had been there all day, working intensely to meet with lawmakers. When it was all over, Graham said the exhaustion in the group was palpable. They had just fought the greatest number of anti-LGBTQ+ bills ever introduced in one session.
“MAGA politicians in Georgia tried it all in service to their anti-LGBTQ+ agenda,” said HRC’s Georgia State Director Bentley Hudgins in a statement, “including silencing debate and gutting unrelated, popular bills that had bipartisan support to ram through policies that would have put young LGBTQ+ Georgians in harm’s way. They failed.” Florida was also unable to avoid the momentum of the political shift. This session, 21 out of 22 anti-LGBTQ+ bills failed. This is a marked improvement from last year, when Florida enacted six anti-LGBTQ+ bills into law. That is more than the seven previous years combined, according to HRC.
[...]
All of Kentucky’s anti-LGBTQ+ bills also failed this session. Chris Hartman, executive director of the Kentucky LGBTQ+ advocacy group Fairness Campaign, says the success has made him “cautiously optimistic.” “This could be a return to where we were before the anti-trans rhetoric reached a fever pitch nationwide,” he added. He explained that prior to 2022, Kentucky had not passed an anti-LGBTQ+ bill for nearly a decade. However, as Texas and Florida flooded the news with transphobic attacks, the rhetoric spread to other Southern states — Kentucky included.
In 2023, Kentucky passed one of the most transphobic laws in the country. In one bill, the state banned students of all ages from being taught about sexual orientation or gender identity; banned students from using washrooms that aligned with their gender identity; banned gender-affirming care for minors; and banned students up to the fifth grade from learning about sexuality and sexual development. But this year, the state couldn’t pass anything targeting the LGBTQ+ community.
Could the trend of anti-LGBTQ+ bills passing all over the place be slowing down? At least a few states this session didn't pass any anti-LGBTQ+ bills, notably Kentucky and Georgia.

Pride Month and the fight against fascism. June 5, 2023
ROBERT B. HUBBELL
JUN 5, 2023
June is Pride Month, a celebration that commemorates “the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York and celebrates the LGBTQ community and the fight for equal rights.” For decades, Pride Month celebrated the annual incremental gains in the liberties and progress toward full personhood of LGBTQ people under the law. Today, Pride Month is marked by renewed urgency to protect the rights of LGBTQ people as extremist legislators and governors seek to turn back the clock on rights that were hard won over the last half-century.
The assault on LGBTQ rights is being promoted by politicians whose aim is to stigmatize a small population to gain power. At its core, attacking vulnerable populations to gain political power is fascism. Commentators and politicians were initially reluctant to label such efforts as fascist, but the historical parallels are inescapable. Comparing MAGA extremism to its historical antecedent is appropriate and necessary to raise the alarm about the ultimate threat posed by the new American fascism embedded in the MAGA base of the Republican Party.
Of course, the MAGA extremists who are targeting LGBTQ people are also attempting to suppress the rights of Black and Latino Americans and women. But they are engaged in a stepwise process: Their most ferocious and transparent attacks are currently focused on LGBTQ people, but they intend to target minorities and women next—after they have normalized hate against LGBTQ people. We must stop them.
Over the weekend, reader Doug S. suggested in the Comments section on Saturday that I “devote a couple of newsletters to the issue of fascism in America . . . which is a huge and growing problem much misunderstood.” Doug’s comment prompted a thoughtful discussion of the issue of fascism in America. He wrote, in part,
Although Hitler is an extreme example of fascism, fascism is about much more. It requires a strong leader, millions of followers (e.g., Brownshirts), an objective of some kind of societal purity, a demonization of groups of people in an objective to advance the power of the leader and his followers. Here are some current examples: Trump and “Mexican rapists;” Asians and “Kung flu,” the “Muslim ban,” DeSantis and LBGTQ people; and Marjorie Greene and white Christian nationalists.
Reader Jody W. expanded on Doug’s point, noting the early efforts in pre-WWII Germany to discriminate against gay men:
Thom Hartman has been focusing strongly on fascism in his Substack blog (Thom Hartmann | Substack). One feature Hartmann points out that I hadn't given much attention is how fascist leaders find a small subset of the population that can be demonized easily with the right propaganda.
Once they have achieved their objective of eliciting hatred and violence toward that group, they know that their success then allows them to broaden propaganda efforts outward to other larger groups. I think that Hitler focused on gay men.
Many readers pointed to Heather Cox Richardson’s essay in Letters from an American on May 29, 2023, in which Professor Richardson described a US Army pamphlet distributed in March of 1945. The pamphlet was entitled “Fascism” and was designed to inform and equip US soldiers in the WWII version of the information war. Per Professor Richardson, the pamphlet included the following:
They [fascists] maintain themselves in power by use of force combined with propaganda based on primitive ideas of ‘blood’ and ‘race,’ by skillful manipulation of fear and hate,
If we permit discrimination, prejudice, or hate to rob anyone of his democratic rights, our own freedom and all democracy is threatened.
The above sentence from the Army pamphlet bears repeating:
If we permit discrimination, prejudice, or hate to rob anyone of his democratic rights, our own freedom and all democracy is threatened.
Pride Month reminds us that if we “look the other way” as dozens of MAGA-dominated state legislatures discriminate against LGBTQ people, their actions “threaten all democracy.”
The initial anti-LGBTQ bill in Florida has spawned a dozen imitators. See NPR, (4/10/22), More than a dozen states propose so-called 'Don't Say Gay' bills. Targeting speech related to LGBTQ people is patently unconstitutional. Indeed, fascism itself is, by definition, contrary to the US Constitution. To the extent that MAGA-fascists use the authority of the state to discriminate against subsets of the US populace based on race, gender, or sexual orientation, such efforts will likely fail. See, for example,
CNN Politics, Tennessee anti-drag show law deemed 'unconstitutional' by Trump-appointed federal judge,
ABC News, Oklahoma agrees to not enforce gender-affirming care ban while temporary order sought; and
Lambda Legal, Advocates to File Lawsuit Against New Law Banning Healthcare for Transgender Youth in Texas.
But even as courts and litigants seek to stop the tide of legislation targeting LGBTQ people, Ron DeSantis is busy signing new legislation intended to stigmatize people based on their gender identity and sexual orientation. See CNN (5/17/23), DeSantis signs into law restrictions on trans Floridians' access to treatments and bathrooms.
What can we do to stop the creeping menace of fascism? The most obvious solution is to seize control of the state legislatures and state houses that have become the breeding ground for fascism. We are already hard at work on that task, but we must ensure that our efforts are informed by the underlying threat posed by MAGA legislatures—fascism.
We must raise the alarm in plain words backed by unassailable facts and an accurate recounting of history. I can hear some readers pleading for restraint, for lowering the temperature, for avoiding ugly words that will cause offense. It is not the word “fascism” that is ugly; it is the underlying hate that is ugly. We will never defeat the hate and animus of fascism if we are too polite or timid to call it by its name.
Many passed the threshold of acknowledgment long ago, while others are coming to that realization now. For some, January 6th was the turning point; for others, it has been the spate of legislation targeted at LGBTQ people over the last eighteen months. Others may be uncomfortable using the term. Wherever you are on that spectrum, we must agree that the fight to protect the liberties and human dignity of LGBTQ people is important for the defense of democracy itself. It is not “their” fight. It is “our” fight. If MAGA extremists succeed in normalizing hate against LGBTQ people, you may be next on their list.

it's disturbing when you see some antis still try to defend butch hartman and his authoritarian ways of getting his forum mods to stalk, harass, and get m/m and f/f shippers banned and deemed "anti fans" ruining his works. they try and justify him as being against sexualizing minors, when anything that could be deemed gay was penalized. even saying you were gay was a ban worthy offense.
yeah that’s really shitty

Russian national team manager dismisses Estonian photo scandal
Valery Karpin said the incident had been inflated into a ‘political’ row after several Estonian players apologized for appearing in a picture with him
Russian men’s national team head coach Valery Karpin has dismissed a row surrounding a photo with several Estonian footballers as “pure politics.” The players were forced to apologize earlier this month after being pictured in a restaurant with Karpin. “The first reaction is misunderstanding,” Karpin told Russia’s Match TV when asked about the scandal. “A misunderstanding of what’s happening. I probably can’t say anything more than that. It was a misunderstanding of what’s happening now in our world.” Karpin, who was born in Narva and holds Estonian citizenship as well as Russian, was photographed at a restaurant in Tallinn at the end of December as part of a group which included several Estonian football stars, past and present. Among them was current national team captain Konstantin Vassiljev and his teammate Sergei Zenjov. Sharing a photo of the gathering on social media, former Estonian international defender Andrei Stepanov wrote: “One company, 10 friends, 100 memories, 1000 games. New Year party to remember.”

But the image prompted anger among some in Estonia, with claims that the players shouldn’t be fraternizing with a prominent Russian football figure amid the conflict in Ukraine. Estonian Culture Minister Piret Hartman also argued that Estonians should do “everything [they] can not to support the aggressor,” according to national media outlet ERR. The reaction prompted the Estonian football association to issue an apology on behalf of Vassiljev, Zenjov, and assistant coach Andres Oper to “everyone whose feelings were hurt by our dinner and the publication of a photo of that on social media.” The apology came despite Estonian FA president Aivar Pohlak previously being more understanding of the photo, telling local media that “at a human level, it is our duty not only to show compassion and help to those suffering, but also to think about not losing key human rights, including the right to be acquainted with differently-minded people and the right to meet them.” In his interview with Match TV published on Monday, Karpin said that despite the broader political tensions between the two nations – which have intensified this week with accusations by Moscow of Estonia pursuing a policy of “total Russophobia” – he felt comfortable in the Baltic state.

“I can probably reassure someone: having been in Estonia for a month, I’m ready to say with confidence that this is purely a political issue. Everything that concerned my stay, my family and Russians in Estonia in general, this isn’t reflected in any way at the everyday level, absolutely,” said Karpin. “I don’t speak Estonian, I spoke only Russian, and absolutely all the Estonians [I spoke with] switched to Russian and communicated. I didn’t feel a single sideways glance or anything else. Not to mention the fact that quite a lot of people came up to me there and wished me good luck. I felt great there and feel great. Everything that is inflated is pure politics.” Karpin’s Russia team played just three matches last year following a ban from all UEFA and FIFA competitions because of the Ukraine conflict. The Russian Football Union (RFU) has established a working group alongside UEFA in a bid to resolve the issue, and has said it is targeting five friendly matches for Karpin’s team in 2023, starting in March.

Ye, I gotchu fam.
When Butch Hartman and his moderation team began banning slash content from their forum, a split formed in the userbase between those who supported Hartman and those who didn't. Those who supported Hartman began calling themselves "true fans," and those who didn't, they called "anti-fans."
Essentially, the implication was that if you were a true Danny Phantom fan, then you would respect the creator's wishes and follow his rules on slash content. Sadly, fans were turning against each other over this.
I'm glad that time is behind us.
there’s death of the author and then there’s whatever the fuck is up with danny phantom

8 for that multimuse ask meme
8. Which of your muses deserves better?
//I actually have a few muses who I feel deserve better both story wise and in terms of the actual show they're written into.
Vlad: Got done dirty during the last season of Danny phantom thanks to bad writing (and also butch hartman's influence in general).
Ghost writer: Got featured in one episode and was never seen or utilized again.
Tatiana: Toxic fans literally made her quit music and her banning rock music from the lights up auditions might've been a trauma response and she didn't want to see Zuke and Mayday go through the same things she did while she was still under the alias Kul Fyra.
Cosmic owl: Was only featured in a couple episodes, didn't even have a consistent voice till later seasons, and story-wise cosmic owl is probably blamed for most people fates because of his appearances in croak dreams and various other bad prophetic dreams.
Tenenbaum: Deserves not to be associated with ken levine and also deserves to have a happy life up on the surface where she doesn't have to think about going back to Rapture ever again.

On this date in the world of Classic rock and r&b music…
March 22nd
2004 - Elvis Presley
A new book claimed that Elvis Presley's ancestors came from a small village called Lonmay in the North East of Scotland. Author Allan Morrison said he'd found evidence that Elvis's great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather was married in the village 300 years ago.
2001 - Earl T. Beal
American singer Earl T. Beal with The Silhouettes died. The doo wop/R&B groups single 'Get A Job' was a No.1 hit on the Billboard R&B singles chart and pop singles chart in 1958. The doo-wop revival group Sha Na Na derived their name from the song's lyrics. 'Get A Job' is included in the soundtracks of the film American Graffiti, Trading Places and Stand By Me. The Silhouettes performed in the 1986 movie Joey.
1994 - Dan Hartman
American musician, singer, songwriter and record producer Dan Hartman died aged 43 of a brain tumor in Westport, Connecticut. He was a member of the Edgar Winter Group and wrote the band's hit ‘Free Ride.’ As a solo artists he had the 1978 No.1 dance hit ‘Instant Replay,’ and wrote ‘Relight My Fire’ a UK No.1 for Take That and Lulu and also co-wrote The James Brown song 'Living in America.’ Hartman collaborated with Tina Turner, Dusty Springfield, Joe Cocker, Bonnie Tyler, Paul Young, Living In A Box, Holly Johnson and Steve Winwood.
1984 - Queen
Queen filmed the video for ‘I Want To Break Free’ at Limehouse Studio in London, England. Directed by David Mallet, it was a parody of the northern British soap opera Coronation Street with the band members dressed in drag. Guitarist Brian May later said the video ruined the band in America, and was initially banned by MTV in the US.
1980 - Pink Floyd
Pink Floyd's 'Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2)' started a four week run at No.1 on the US singles chart. The track, which was the group’s only US chart topper, was also a No.1 in the UK, Germany, Australia, Italy and in many other countries around the world. Pink Floyd received a Grammy nomination for Best Performance by a Rock Duo or Group for the song, but lost to Bob Seger's 'Against The Wind.'
1975 - Led Zeppelin
Led Zeppelin were enjoying a six-week run at No.1 on the US album chart with Physical Graffiti the group's fourth US No.1 album. On its first day of release in the US, the album shipped a million copies – no other album in the history of Atlantic records had generated so many sales. Physical Graffiti has now been certified 16 times Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for US sales in excess of 16 million copies.
1974 - The Eagles
The Eagles released their third studio album On the Border the first Eagles album to feature guitarist Don Felder. Three singles were released from the album: 'Already Gone', 'James Dean' and 'Best of My Love'. A hidden message carved into the run out groove of some vinyl LPs reads: "He who hesitates is lunch".
1965 - The Temptations
The Temptations released their second studio album Sing Smokey. As its name implies, it is composed entirely of songs written and produced by Smokey Robinson, and several other members of the Miracles as well. More importantly, it featured one of the well known Motown releases in its history 'My Girl'.

The Russian Football Union (RFU) has established a working group alongside UEFA in a bid to resolve the issue, and has said it is targeting five friendly matches for Karpin’s team in 2023, starting in March.

y’know i’ve never seen anyone really talk about it but i was just thinking about the Great Danny Phantom Fan War of 2005-2007 and how no one seem to remember or even talk about it anymore?
so buckle up kids here’s the swan song of the danny phantom fan war
waaaay back in the day (and by that i mean 2005/2006) when people still used online forums butch hartman had an official forum for fans of his shows to talk to him or each other.
at one point word spread to the forum mods that butch hartman was very very homophobic and didn’t like people making slash or porn of his shows oh no! it was then the forum mods decided that everyone who was into slash M U ST B E D E S T O R Y E D.
suddenly people started getting banned left and right. even people who weren’t into slash but were slash-friendly were getting banned. simply having a deviantart account could get you banned because OH NO WHAT IF THERE’S SLASH ART ON THERE!! i also specifically remember the mods sending out emails to the sinners offenders saying something about how they were “questioning your status as a true fan”.
and so the people who listened and obeyed butch hartman’s every word were and only shipped het were labeled “true-fans” and the people who shipped whatever they wanted were labeled “anti-fans”.
eventually people got sick of all the bullshit that was happening on the forums and moved onto livejournal and deviantart just to escape the insanity.
but as time went on the war eventually petered out and now all that’s left of it are the faint whispers of the past.
