right so imagine this. merlin's magic is revealed at some point during one of the early seasons and he's imprisoned by uther. but arthur helps him escape and they make a promise to each other that they'll meet again, that once arthur is king, merlin will return to camelot.

so merlin leaves and he sort of discards his name, takes on emrys. and then he starts learning magic. genuinely learning magic. he learns from kilgharrah and the druids and the catha and the sidhe and he travels a lot etc. and he's merlin so of course he starts making a name for himself. like he helps people and he accidentally ends up creating a sort of army in the process. he helps a dying man, now his whole village wants to fight for emrys.

basically everyone starts talking about him, this sorcerer from the legends called emrys, who goes around doing literal fucking miracles... he becomes something like a mysterious... god-like figure. everyone knows about him, even in camelot. he's supposed to be the most powerful sorcerer ever to walk the earth, after all. uther thinks he's a threat. morgana, like in canon, gets to know that he's her doom or whatever and she's even more scared of him than before

(btw he probably also has an apprentice . called mordred)

fast forward a couple of years, morgana and morgause are waging war on camelot, uther's dying, arthur is crowned. and the ceremony is about to end and suddenly arthur hears a long live the king! from a voice that he recognizes SO well...

so merlin and arthur meet again and they catch up on everything, morgana and uther etc [cue the new knights and courtiers being absolutely APPALLED by the way merlin talks to the literal king] and then arthur, in passing, mentions emrys. and that emrys might actually be a bigger problem than morgana if he ever attacked camelot

and merlin is like: ....er. arthur. hey. hold up

and he tells arthur that HE'S emrys

and then they win the war against morgana etc and yeah. happily ever after

Care to Forgive (2073 w) - The one where Arthur ignores Merlin when he tells him something is wrong (I know, shocker), Merlin almost dies and gets very mad at Arthur (in that order) and Gwen has to kick Merlin's ass because she just wants everyone to get along.

Not Alone (886 w) - My first fic ever which is, of course, about Merlin having a panic attack and Arthur comforting him (not related to how I would like someone to comfort me when I'm having one. Nope. Not at all.). Short and sweet, I actually had fun writing this one.

Of Truths and Choices and Of Fire and Loyalty (9378 w total) - Arthur leaves Merlin alone for two minutes and Merlin somehow manages to 1) get caught doing magic by the king and 2) get executed for sorcery. Arthur is not surprised but not happy about it either. Morgana and Arthur become BAMF and manage to take over Camelot. Merlin might not be as dead as everyone thought. Weird magical girl OC appears at one point. Not very well written but good idea, might be fun to read.

Gifts of Gold and Amber (3280 w) - Morgana and Gwen are tired of Merlin and Arthur's bullshit and decide to get them together. Things don't go according to plan, but everything ends up working out anyways.

Devotion Through The Seasons (love in four acts) (parts 1, 2, 3, 4) (8740 w total) - A series that tries to follow canon with 50% more merthur, 70% more angst and 100% more smut. MCD at the end but you should still read it because who doesn't like some good angst? Rating for sexual content.

Christmas is only merry when I'm next to you (just hold on) (2044 w) - Merlin is a drama queen, Arthur has no clue what's going on and the doctor just wanted to have a normal Christmas.

The Promise of a Knight (when family also means home) (2030 w) - A Gwaine-centric fic set between S3 and S4. All the knights get drunk and become sappy dumbasses. Banter and emotional speeches ensue.

Arthur's Daily Routine (1692 w) - Arthur is a boring businesses man desperately looking for a reason to not put on a suit. Morgana is way too smart. Everyone is addicted to coffee. I wrote this having no clue what I was doing but it's a pretty good read anyways.

Scrabble (2116 w) - A PSA about the dangers of playing board games. Very funny according to my mother (and she's always right so). Everyone just wants to prank Arthur and craziness ensues.

What Goes on in the Darkling Woods (359 w) - Could be cute, could be creepy, no one really knows. Merlin and Arthur are kids and they're adorable. Short and weird.

Love makes fools of us all (but especially Merlin) (793 w) - Never ask Morgana and Gwen for help to organize your wedding.

The one where Merlin finds a dog [FIC + ART] (214 w) - Merlin + puppy= a very flustered Arthur.

Call the Clotpole Back! (1151 w) - Me nerding out about the word clotpole appearing in King Lear. Poor attempt at writing in Elizabethan English.

Goodbye my friend, will I ever love again? (576 w) - Pure pain and suffering. I cried while writing it. You should totally read it. Not explicit but MCD.

I hear you now (883 w) - Arthur finally apologizes for something and Merlin gets a day off.
