i really like the lock picking in Skyrim because it's an actual skill that i, the player, have gotten good at.

like, i have never put a single perk point into the lockpicking tree, but i can pick any lock in the game in ten picks or less because i have a system that i developed into a practiced skill i use on all the locks.

That may sound like a useless or broken game dynamic, but it's one of my favorite things in the game actually -- the locks in Skyrim are built a certain way, and i, as a player, have developed the skill to pick them based on experience, practice, and the development of a process.

i actually wish more things in more RPGs were like that.

#video games #i'd love to use little skill tests and stuff for table top games too #the little ball on a rope into the cup game or a rubix cube or one of those four move chess puzzles #even that game memory #you could use those kinds of skill attainable mini games in a ttrpg for things like lock picking / pick pocketing ...#even a dart board for arrows would be cool with difficulty ranging from just hit the board to center bullseye only #idk i think that could be cool

Am I crazy or does Luigi's Mansion 2 require more observational thinking than the usual Mario game?

I'm used to the hard part being the reaction time and the hand-eye coordination, but this is that + puzzles.

#are the puzzles hard? not particularly #but I'm bad at them so it adds an extra layer #the puzzles are WAY harder than anything in SMB Wonder. That I can say for certain #you guys do not want to know how long it took me to figure out how to beat the giant spider after the first wave #or how badly I got kicked around before I figured out that first Boo boss fight with the spirit balls #they don't even take your hand and walk you through the tutorial like in most Mario games #they just say ''hit +. The instructions are there'' which feels VERY in character for E. Gadd honestly #(none of this is negative btw it's purely observational. I'm having a good time so far)#luigi's mansion #luigi's mansion 2

hey if i actually started developing my video game idea would you guys be interested if i posted about it on here

#personal #i'm balls deep in the early design phase i already have the gameplay figured out #working on a layout of the whole building with andy so i can get screenshots as references for what i need to draw for it #like again the programming is gonna be so hard and i will get so stuck on that WHSKGJFDGKDFK but i do really want to like #at LEAST get some sort of a demo running... blockout set up and all that. because it's just point and click and i CAN do that #i've done it in google slides before so how hard can it be to put that shit in unity instead #saving progress and whatnot with a working game manager will be a hurdle. and some of the puzzles are a bit intricate #but especially the simpler stuff like needing a key to open a door and all that. i've done that before i can just copy paste code #if i can get a demo to work i can pitch the idea to people... maybe go back to school and see if a teacher can help get me a team

Some progress pics of my monstrosity✨

Attempted to mix the houndstooth stitch on front while switching between single and double crochet on the back. The front definitely feels heavier than the back but fuck it lmao. Knowing my luck once I block this thing it's gonna be hanging in all types of weird directions.
