Simple Ward Against Spirits (and Other Varieties)
Tumblr media
Forbidden peanut butter cookies
I've been very much enjoying working with a new style of ward. It's pertinent materia magica blended into air-dry clay, worked into small disks stamped with protective symbols, and hung up near doors and windows (or carried).
Sometimes I paint them; this time I just filled in the symbols with India ink.
The recipe is quite nice as you can make several little wards for the effort of one spell. And they work up pretty quickly.
The recipe:
3 substances aligning with intent (sets given below)
A small handful of air-dry clay
Paint or ink to decorate, as desired
Thread or cord to hang up, if desired
Clear-dry glue (modge-podge used in picture) to seal clay, especially helpful to block strong-smelling herbs
Steps:
Work over each substance individually to ensure they are carriers of power. Ensure each substance is empowered and aligned with its duties before moving on.
Blend all three substances into some air-dry clay (the clay itself is not worked with as a correspondence, but could be, if you're into it).
Divide the air-dry clay into individual balls and flatten them out into disks. You may have to add plenty of extra water to counteract the dehydrating effect of salt or herbs.
Poke a hole at the top of each disk (I used the back end of a matchstick) if you want to hang them up.
On one side of the disk, carve or paint any protective symbol pertinent to your faith. Pictured, an equilateral cross.
On the other side of the disk, carve or paint a symbol that expresses the specific sort of protection you're working (such as a very simplified sigil, or perhaps elemental or planetary signs you're calling on, or a minimalist animal, and so forth).
Once the clay is dry, coat with a clear layer of glue or modge-podge. This helps protect against moisture and minor chips but primarily is to stop the charm from having a strong odor if you use, say, garlic and dill.
Combinations of Materia:
Use perhaps an eighth of a teaspoon of each to start with; I find the clay can hold a lot of foreign materials, but expect it to significantly change texture and dry out. Of course, use any materials you prefer.
Use only dried herbs. Fresh will not do.
Against Evil
Dill (to perceive, forewarn, and shelter against against evil)
Garlic (to protect against evil)
Salt (to neutralize evil)
Against Unwanted Spirits
Garlic (to protect against the uninvited)
Red pepper (to set boundaries against the uninvited)
Basil (to guard against transgressors)
Against Unwanted Energies
Rosemary (to shield and shelter)
Clove (to create a barrier that limits energies)
Salt (to neutralize unwanted energies)
Notes:
The spell can "end" at any number of moments; you can seal it once you mark symbols, or only after it's dried and painted, or only after you've done knot magic to weave a special hanger, etc.
IME, a very powerful set of wards can be made by linking 4 such disks, each one to a different element, and hanging them in the cardinal directions as your path specifies; thus assigning an elemental guardian working in tandem with his brothers to guard those roads of egress. Try making a base formula shared between all four disks, and then adding a unique ingredient to each one of them that corresponds with the element.
Air-dry clay is fragile. These wards are not especially suited to be carried around, but can be carried in a pinch. If you like, the idea of a ward breaking when it's done it's job is very applicable to brittle clay disks.
You can work greater magic into them; knot magic for the hanger, earth magic for the clay, layering on more power if you paint, and so forth.

[ad_1] Paras Mhambrey, India’s bowling coach (Source: ICC) Atreyo Mukhopadhyay in Mumbai Being the former bowling coach of the Indian team, Paras Mhambrey has seen the current crop of fast bowlers from close. Before India embark on a potentially gruelling five-Test tour of Australia after the disappointment of the home series against New Zealand, Mhambrey spoke to RevSportz about the prospects of this bunch and more. The following are excerpts: Q: Let’s start with a question on the Australia series. There are five fast bowlers in the squad, plus three travelling reserves. Is that too many, considering that India have rarely travelled with eight fast bowlers? A: When you select a squad, you also look at the venues you play in. Generally, the wickets in Australia have good bounce, on a flatter side. There’s not much of a role of spinners out there. So, you need to travel with seam bowlers. You also need to be prepared for injuries. If you look at the squad, Jasprit Bumrah is experienced. Mohammed Siraj also has experience now. But it’s not the same with the rest. So you need a number of back-ups. Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna and Harshit Rana have done well at the Ranji Trophy level. The selectors, the coaches must be having confidence in them. Also, you need variety in the attack. Bumrah is different from Siraj and Akash. Prasidh is the tall kind of a bowler who can hit the deck hard. Also, it’s a five-Test series. You can’t possibly have Bumrah for all five games. You have to be smart enough to understand that bowlers might need a break. Looking at all aspects, this is the best combination to go there with. Q: This fast bowling unit may be lacking in experience, but it’s a promising bunch. What do you think? A: I agree. Other than Bumrah and Siraj, the fast bowlers might be lacking in experience. But going by the potential they have shown, this is a good line-up. You have to go with the best available right now. Fingers are crossed over Mohammed Shami. He may be there for a period. I’ve been reading that he’s planning to play two Ranji Trophy matches before that. We have to address the longevity and injury issues, other than form. I think we have  ticked all the right boxes. Having Shami in the mix is important because if you need to give Bumrah a break, then at least the other senior bowler is there. Others can rally around him. Q: The Australian pitches and grounds are harder than the ones we come across in India. What are the biggest challenges for Indian fast bowlers over there? A: The wickets are hard. There’s a lot of hard clay content. So, there is a lot of wear and tear (on the body). You have to bend your back in the first 30-35 overs because the seam of the Kookaburra ball isn’t that prominent after that period. That’s the real hard work, to maximise the ball and how you use it in the first 30-35 overs. That’s the challenge, to take two-three or even four wickets in that phase. For the Latest Sports News: Click Here Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja speak to Paras Mhambrey as Mohammed Siraj gets ready for a bowl. Source: BCCI Q: How do bowlers who have not played in Australia encounter this challenge? A: For those who have not played in Australia, just to be there is a challenge. Only Bumrah and Siraj have played there. It’s a tough place to travel. They must adapt early to the conditions. If we look at the performance of the Indian teams in the last few overseas tours — England, Australia or South Africa — the fast bowlers haven’t done badly. The last tour of Australia (2020-21) may be the biggest example. I think we have an all-weather kind of an attack. Q: Being a former bowler and the former bowling coach of the Indian team, how pleased are you to see this pool of fast bowlers? They are not just one or two. There are many. This must be heartening for someone like you. A: Yeah, 100%. A lot of this has got to do with the system, started five-six years back. The idea was to give them an opportunity to travel abroad, play under different conditions, with different kinds of balls.
Some of these balls, particularly the Kookaburra, behave differently from SG balls we have in India. The idea was, you don’t feel unfamiliar with these factors. Most of the bowlers we have now went through that programme. It’s great to see that these bowlers have progressed and made it to the Indian team. Except for Bumrah who is around 30, most of them are young. They have a lot of cricket left in them. It’s good to see a lot of talent out here. The more opportunities they get, they’re going to get better. Q: It was surprising to see Bumrah get just 14 overs in the second Test in Pune, where the Indian team bowled 150 overs. Akash Deep bowled six overs in the first innings and none in the second. Didn’t this effectively reduce the strength of the team to just three bowlers? A: It’s about the captain’s instincts as well. That’s why Rohit Sharma is one of the better captains. You look at the percentage record that he has in Test cricket. These things depend on what his gut feeling is. Yes, sometimes, when you have five bowlers, there is a possibility that one of the bowlers will be under-utilised. You have to have a quiet chat with him and explain to him why. Also, everyone has played enough cricket to understand the requirements in a given scenario. It can happen. I will not dwell too much into it. How to Experience Authentic Indian Cuisine with Outdoor Catering
If you're a fan of bold, vibrant flavors and aromatic spices, experiencing authentic Indian cuisine through outdoor catering is an absolute delight. Outdoor catering offers an opportunity to enjoy the richness of Indian food in a relaxed and festive environment. Here's how to make the most of it:
1. Choose a Menu That Highlights Regional Specialties
India is known for its diverse culinary traditions, with each region offering its unique flavors. When opting for Indian outdoor catering, ensure the menu represents a range of dishes from various regions. Whether it’s the fiery curries of South India, the rich gravies from the North, or the street food delights of Mumbai, variety is key. Popular choices include:
Biryani: A fragrant rice dish infused with spices.
Tandoori Chicken: Chicken marinated in yogurt and spices, cooked in a traditional clay oven.
Samosas: Crisp pastry filled with spiced potatoes or meat.
2. Live Cooking Stations for Fresh Flavors
Live food stations add an interactive element to your event. Watching chefs prepare fresh naan, dosa, or chaats right in front of you is an experience in itself. These stations allow guests to customize their dishes and enjoy them hot and fresh. It also adds to the authenticity, replicating the street food culture that’s so beloved in India.
3. Spice it Right
One of the hallmarks of Indian cuisine is the delicate balance of spices. From the warmth of cumin and coriander to the heat of chili powder, spices play a vital role in creating the signature Indian flavor profile. Ensure that the catering team tailors the spice level to suit your guests, offering both mild and spicy options.
4. Pair with Authentic Drinks
No Indian meal is complete without beverages like Mango Lassi (a creamy yogurt drink) or Masala Chai (spiced tea). These traditional drinks can elevate the dining experience by complementing the bold flavors of the food.
5. Create an Authentic Ambiance
The overall experience can be enhanced by the setting. An outdoor event can be transformed into an Indian cultural celebration with traditional décor, such as vibrant colors, marigold flowers, and intricate fabrics. Music, like Bollywood hits or classical Indian tunes, can set the mood and create a festive atmosphere.
6. Sweet Endings with Indian Desserts
Indulge in a variety of Indian sweets for dessert. Some crowd favorites include:
Gulab Jamun: Sweet dumplings soaked in syrup.
Rasgulla: Soft, spongy balls of paneer soaked in sugar syrup.
Kheer: A creamy rice pudding flavoured with cardamom and saffron.

WHAT IS BALL CLAY AND HOW IS IT USED AND APPLIED IN DIFFERENT INDUSTRIES LIKE CERAMIC?
The demand for high-quality clay, well suited to the creation of the desired ceramic material, is ubiquitous given the widespread usage of ceramic materials. In addition to supplying and processing the widest variety of clay materials, African Pegmatite also offers an unwavering assortment of minerals of exceptional quality, making it an ideal industrial partner for any endeavour.
Ceramics may be found in just about every aspect of daily life, from the bricks used in construction to the tiles in the bathroom to the plates and bowls on which the world's population feasts and washes. Pottery making dates back thousands of years. Clay is used in a variety of modern handicrafts, from those made by trained artists to those made in the home.
The term "ceramic" refers to a wide variety of manmade and naturally occurring substances, including but not limited to glass, bricks, cement, pottery, porcelain, stoneware, earthenware, graphite, and diamond. Ceramic, in the simplest terms, refers to anything created by firing clay.
Different types of clay may be distinguished from one another based on their geological origin and the required firing temperature to provide maximum strength and durability. So let’s check what is ball clay and where you can find the best ball clay in India.
What is Ball Clay?
Ball clay is quite malleable, and it has very little mineral impurities. It is always suggested to inquire about ball clay supplier in India and quality of their product before considering them for your business needs. The material's condition determines the hue it takes on. Typically, they are a dark grey while wet but a pale grey or white when burnt. They don't require as high of a firing temperature as porcelain clays (1,280 °C) to reach their full hardness.
Because of their extreme shrinkage when dried or fried, ball clays are rarely useful on their own. When combined with other clays, however, such as porcelain, they gain a remarkable amount of workability and plasticity and become incredibly useful. Ball clays are well-known for their rheological stability and their pale tint after curing. They may be used with stoneware clays to create an entirely different aesthetic.
Ball clay in India is widely sought after because of its many valuable applications in the pottery, tile, and sanitaryware industries. Kaolinite accounts for 20%-80% of the weight of ball clays, while mica makes for 10%-25% and quartz sand or other accessory minerals make up the rest. The grain size of ball clays is often quite small.
How Ball Clay got its name
In the early days after its discovery, specialised hand tools were used to extract ball clay. About 30-centimeter cubes were clumped with one another. The'sticky' quality of the material allowed the cubes to maintain their form. However, they were rolled while being transported. As a result, the clay fragments lost their sharp edges, becoming round balls instead. It is also known as plastic clay in some regions because of its malleability.
Where may ball clay be used?
Tobacco pipes, one of the first applications of ball clay, dating back to prehistoric times. Ball clay's physical and chemical qualities were once underappreciated, but today they are used in a wide range of products.
1. Ceramics: Due to its great flexibility and strength, as well as its white-firing qualities, ball clay is the most crucial ingredient in ceramic production. Many types of ceramics, such as dishware and utensils, rely on their combination with other materials.
2. Refractory Clays: Ball clays are stable at very high temperatures without affecting their chemical makeup. That's why you'll find them in things like kiln insulation and other refractory goods everywhere.
3. Tile Production: Because of its malleability and high binding strength, ball clay in India is perfect for making tiles. Tiles are made with it and other materials including talc, feldspar, silica, and kaolin.
4. Electrical Insulators: Ball clays, in addition to being resistant to heat, are also great insulators. That's why they're so common in the manufacturing of porcelain insulators and other forms of electrical insulation.
5. Other Applications: In addition to these primary uses, ball clays have a wide variety of secondary applications in the fields of building, agriculture, and horticulture. Plastics, sealants, polymers, and even fertilisers all employ it as a filler ingredient.
Conclusion
Although it was formerly a mineral only found in a few locations, ball clay is now essential to modern life. Ball clay from  Zillion Sawa Minerals Pvt. Ltd.- one of the top ball clay supplier in India is used to make everything from building materials to ceramics to electrical components. Ball clays, in the technical sense, are fine-grained clays that are both pliable and strong. Ball clay has been used since Roman times, and there have been many advancements in the mining, processing, and usage of this material since then.

It also lessens dependence on expensive imports of Vitreous China which is a competitive advantage.
India Ceramic Sanitaryware: Growth of Urban Populations Rapid urbanization has been a major driver of increased sanitaryware demand in India. The urban population is projected to rise to over 600 million by 2030 from 450 million currently. Growing cities require extensive housing and infrastructure development. Increased purchases of durable sanitaryware such aswash basins, western style toilets have been key segments driving industry value growth.
Rise of the Indian Middle Class Economic liberalization since the 1990s has led to a substantial expansion of India's consuming middle class population estimated at over 200 million individuals. As discretionary spending power rises among this segment, there is increased consumerism even for household amenities like bathroom fittings previously considered as luxuries. The introduction of attractive and affordable options by Indian sanitaryware brands has enabled wider penetration and 'trading up' from basic to premium variants in urban as well as tier 2/3 cities. This expanded customer base seeking aesthetic styles and hygienic products is critical for ongoing sectoral progress.

Large companies such as Cera, Hindustan Sanitaryware and Industries Limited (HSIL), Parryware, Kohler and Roca accounted for over 35% of domestic sales revenues in 2020 compared to just 10-15% a decade ago. These brands offer a wide array of restroom options along with premium designer products and wellness categories like faucets and showers. Many have established extensive retail networks across the country in addition to lucrative collaborations with builders. Economies of scale and enhanced quality standards are helping them outperform smaller unorganized peers over the long run.
Export Growth Potential India exported USD 225 million worth of ceramic tiles and sanitaryware products in FY21 displaying resilient growth despite pandemic restrictions. Major export destinations include the Middle East, African countries as well as the United States. Indian vitrified tiles are competitively priced in global markets due to access to low cost clay materials. Furthermore, 'Made in India' brands like CAMA are making inroads by catering vitreous China products tailored to needs in developing markets. With additional efforts to promote Indian capabilities and sign free trade agreements, the government aims to multiply ceramic exports to USD 1 billion by 2025. This reflects the industry's rising export orientation bolstered by cost advantages and improving quality benchmarks.
Rising Investments Established players as well as new entrants are committing large capex to expand capacity and diversify product offerings. HSIL, the country's largest producer is spending Rs. 650 crores over 2020-23 for backend integration, new plants and retail showrooms. Cera Sanitaryware allocated Rs. 200 crores in 2021-22 focusing on vitreous units. Kajaria Ceramics too added 2 new bathware lines last year taking total capacity to 50,000 pieces/day. Many Chinese and European firms are evaluating JVs/greenfield projects to tap the booming Indian demand. Such investments demonstrate long term confidence of stakeholders on India's role as a global sanitaryware hub supported by its market depth and consumption trends.
Changing Consumer Preferences With higher spending ability as well as awareness regarding latest styles, customers are displaying evolving tastes. There is rising demand for customization, multifunctional accessories as well as smart, IoT enabled sanitary items. ‘Designer’ and ‘premium’ segments incorporating features like anti-bacterial glazes, sensor based controls are witnessing maximum growth. Tier 2/3 towns also seek on-trend offerings beyond basic products. Manufacturers are launching new collections, partnering with designers as well as leveraging digital platforms to interact closer with clients. This has ensured the industry remains nimble in delivering improved solutions catering contemporary requirements of urban residents.
Backed by supportive demographics and policies, India's ceramic sanitaryware industrywill likely maintain double digit expansion over the next 5 years. While meeting huge domestic needs, focus on exports, professionalization and innovation shall strengthen its positioning as a leading global hub. Decorative Items: Small ornaments, flowers, and leaves for adornment.

1. Preparing the Clay:
Start by soaking the clay in water until it becomes soft and malleable.
Knead the clay well to remove any air bubbles and to make it smooth and consistent.
2. Forming the Base:
Begin by creating a solid base for the idol. This can be a round or oval-shaped platform that will hold the entire structure.
3. Sculpting the Body:
Take a large lump of clay and shape it into a cylindrical form for the body of Ganesha.
Smooth the edges and ensure the body is proportionate.
4. Creating the Head:
Roll a smaller piece of clay into a ball for the head.
Attach the head to the body, making sure it is secure and aligned.
5. Adding Features:
For the trunk, roll a small piece of clay into a thick snake-like shape and attach it to the center of the face, curving it to one side.
Create ears by flattening small pieces of clay and shaping them into ovals, then attaching them to either side of the head.
Use small balls of clay for the eyes, and a tiny disc for the mouth, and add details using sculpting tools or a knife.
6. Crafting the Arms and Legs:
Roll out pieces of clay for the arms and legs. Shape them accordingly and attach them to the body.
Add small details like fingers, toes, and jewelry using additional clay and tools.
7. Decorating the Idol:
Once the basic structure is complete, smooth out any rough edges and refine the details.
Use natural colors like turmeric for yellow, sandalwood paste for a reddish tint and other natural dyes to decorate the idol.
Adorn the idol with small ornaments, flowers, and leaves for a traditional look.
8. Drying:
Allow the idol to dry naturally. Depending on the thickness, this might take a couple of days. Ensure it is kept in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to avoid cracks.
