Star Wars Technical Worldbuilding Notes 1

Economy of motion would, realistically, be a pretty big thing in space combat tactics. The thrust given by an ion engine and the recoil/kinetic component of a laser or an ion cannon follow the same formula, so a capital ship that has all its power diverted to weapons is effectively applying acceleration equal to its engines in the direction that's opposite the aim of its guns.

The way I currently imagine it, capital ships involved in a serious line of battle would probably assume an even posture, firing the engines only to balance out the recoil of its cannons, for a net acceleration of zero. This doesn't mean the fleet is at rest relative to anything else, since it retains its existing velocity.

Maybe a common move would be to accelerate at full burn for a few minutes after dropping out of hyperspace to hit something like 0.1c before cutting thrust and coasting to engagement range. The point being to build up enough velocity in advance of an engagement that you can divert most or all power to weapons in the opening salvos without the recoil killing your forward velocity.

All else being equal, a ship fleeing pursuit would be at a significant advantage in that objective during exchanges of cannon fire, since the pursuit would be set back by their own recoil, while the ship fleeing is accelerated by shots that don't penetrate its shield.

So in this model of capital ship combat, missiles are useful not only because of the guidance and that they allow a ship to punch above its reactor output, but they allow you to attack without impacting your overall velocity.

I do think the X-Wing books take it a little bit too far, but my theory at this point is that a minimalistic model for galactic fleet scaling makes for better storytelling, because it gives you more of a chance to get to know each ship and its crew and each squadron and their pilots. Thereby giving more opportunity for readers to get invested. Logical fleet scales for an entire galaxy would mean having to use scientific notation to write out the number of ships in a battle, anyway.

One idea I've played with recently regarding logistics is that maybe the impact of large gravity wells on hyperspace could be written in such a way that the fixed installations needed to extract raw hypermatter from hyperspace are most efficient in high-gravity conditions, and so are most often built deep in large gas giants. I like that because fortifying and laying siege to a gas planet would be a very different task than a terrestrial planet. Such a siege would be especially difficult because its defenders have a practically unlimited supply of fuel for planetary shields and defensive cannons.

Headcanonically, hypermatter is created in hyperspace as a side effect of the passage of mass-energy through hyperspace. It is kind of a chicken-or-the-egg situation in terms of the questions it begs about the early history of space travel, but that goes to show how established galactic society is, that they haven't had to worry about that since their civilization's prehistory.

That is a interesting theory! But my thoughts went in different directions.

Considering the plots of the 98 and 23 animations, my theory/headcanon is that humans have indeed changed - becoming more and more biologically similar to plant, because this is the reason why plant were created.

If it is for unlimited energy, there is no reason for humans to create "humanoid" biobatteries and cause ethical problems. The reason why plant is in human form is because what those scientists originally wanted to creat was actually the "spare body", and it's the ageless body.

We can see that they already got the technology for full-body prosthetics. As long as the rejection problem is overcome, humans can be directly transplanted into plant.

This is why the 23plant is considered "soulless", and every version of the plant remains dormant, because they are deliberately prevented from producing "life" or "consciousness". So plants have human appearances, good-looking faces, and are all female. The reason is the same as Jurassic Park (?

However, the problem of transplant rejection cannot be solved, so the by-product: the huge energy that keeps cells from aging, is instead used as a biological battery.

Therefore, as soon as Tesla, an Independent that is more similar to humans and can leave the life-sustaining light bulb, appears, scientists of SEED are eager to conduct radical experiments.

As long as it's proven that the two organisms are compatible, it will be a major breakthrough for mankind. But there are obviously still obstacles. What happened to Tesla may be severe transplant rejection.

As the article quoted at the beginning said, the earth may have achieved some kind of balance or compromise. Even when the emotions were intense, Chronica did not attack Knives with her A. arm but with machinery. Maybe it's not that she avoided using plant's power attack, she just can't use it.

23Dr. continued this plan with the consent of Knives (don't know why). They approached this from two aspects:

The MangaDr. has no obvious achievements in this regard, also his relationship with EOM is not very close. The specialized bodies of members of GHG may have been modified by him, such as Dominic's hypnotic eye, which is obviously From Transplant; The giantess carrying Legato's Coffin; Gauntlet and 9 Lives, etc.

MangaEl was very disdainful of EOM modified people, not sure if it was because she was born with plant cells.

Regarding Legato, because it is not certain when he was picked up by Knives, the inferences that can be made are limited:

But none of them can be explained😅 Also we can say Dr. attaches great importance to him. After Legato had his limbs chopped off by Knives, he tried to save Legato even though Knives might be displeased, risked being fired by Vash's A. Arm, even if he couldn't lift Legato.

Taken together, I guess Legato is a new human being born accidentally, and it is also evidence that humans and plants will one day become the same species. This is not man-made, but it is a victory for mankind. 23Dr's human experiments are based on him as a model, and Dr. therefore claims that he "chose human"... If they are still human by then.

Legato existence also subverted Knives' biological determinism, but for some reason Knives did not kill Legato as soon as possible. Contrary to his words, his actions not only did not dislike the human-plant blend theory, but supported it. Again, I don't know why. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I gotta go with my man, Rock Lock. It's been a while since I have and come on. Y'all know what month it is?!

My first impression: Bro asked about why kids were at a meeting about the yakuza and my first thought was "you have asked a very sensible question, I think I'm going to like you very much". I was right.

My impression now: Oh, Rock Lock is definitely in the top ten of my favorite MHA characters and after Miruko, he is my favorite Pro Hero.

Favorite thing about that character: I already took to him because of his personality. But I definitely admired the fact we have a family man here. I'm a sucker for badass dads who love their families.

Least favorite thing: My guy deserves more shine, just saying. Also, the fact that his wife and son don't have first names. I wanna know their names!

Favorite line/scene: Other than the hospital scene, which I'll talk about later, I gotta say his debut is one of my favorite scenes and I like this line he says "U.A. students or not, kids are kids. Of course I was worried about 'em." To me, it reflects that Rock Lock does have a caring heart. Even after that bit, he acknowledges that younger heroes like Midoriya just need room to shine to show what they're capable of. He's a guy who won't act like he doesn't care. He'll admit he's worried, but he'll still support you like an good person... a good parent will do.

Favorite interaction that character has with another: I want a whole segment of Rock Lock with his family. That hospital scene where his wife comes in running and crying with their son and how she just hugs him and the way he hugs back touched my heart so much! It's crazy to me, now that I'm thinking about it,screening! Pro Hero can I think of with a loving marriage and they barely have had screentime! Everyone else is either single or if they are married, there's problems (Endeavor and Captain Celebrity).

A character that I wish that character would interact with more: I wish, how I wish, him and Miruko had scenes together. They're both heroes who actually take being a hero seriously and you cannot tell me they wouldn't be besties. In my fic , There's Miruko, There's Rumi, they're friends and Miruko is Rock Lock's son's honorary aunt.

Another character from another fandom that reminds me of that character: I haven't seen all of Craig of the Creek, just a couple of episodes (I have younger siblings who watch it) but Rock Lock reminds me of Craig's dad. A man who cares about family and does his best for them? I'm here for it!!

A headcanon about that character: He definitely is that parent who attends birthday parties and PTA meetings (when Lil' Takagi goes to school). I headcanon that he and his wife went to school together and also had friends that live in the same area. In their adult years, some of them are married and have kids and whenever there's some party or play date, best believe the Takagi's are there.

A song that reminds of that character: I can't even think of one right now, but I'm gonna need NemRaps, DizzyEight, 954mari... anybody to make one!

An unpopular opinion about that character: I personally feel like Rock Lock is one the better heroes. Again, I hate that when he debuted the fandom was quick to hate on him and call him "mean" because he had a point. Why in the hell was kids dragged into a situation as dangerous ad dealing with the yakuza? And then it makes sense Rock Lock would think like that! He is a married man with a son of his own! And it wasn't like he didn't think Midoriya or anybody was capable because he does recognize their potential. What he's about is if you're going to take up a duty that can cost you your life, be serious about and not treat it as some game. It's funny to me that someone actually had the nerve once to compare him and Endeavor even though in season 5, Endeavor was quick to act like a brat because Bakugou and Midoriya was joining Todoroki for the Work Studies.

Favorite picture: I won't lie, I totally get why he is a married man. Also can we talk again about the hospital scene? They are a beautiful family!! 😭

Like if you were in charge of DC and Marvel at the exact same time and you had unlimited resources and every mandate is a given, what are some of the biggest ones you’d officially decree to make sure every character you love gets done right?

Marvel is fine enough, it's mainly Spider-Man editorial being weirdly petty about who he can be with, and this odd fascination of ever other hero bashing him

I don't know where to begin with DC. I mostly just follow Bat-Family and Young Justice, and the majority of them are all fucked up

We're in an age where writers who were in the fandom come in to make their headcanons actual canon and what not. Thinking they're finally gonna be the hero the comic book community needs because they're too oblivious to the fact that fandoms don't represent the entire damn community

At this point they're so far gone that it'd take a reboot

But I wouldn't do a New 52 Reboot or anything. I'd just do my best to research everything as much as I can, look at the statistics, the wider opinion that spans beyond the echo chambers, and try to figure out what made everyone popular to begin with

and then I'd work hard to make sure that even if we're kind of taking a step back, because we took a wrong turn at the forked road, that we're still finding ways of doing something new and refreshing, because just doing repeats isn't going to help anything either. it'd bore everyone away

it's a balancing act no ones trying

And from what I can tell, Marvel took most of the best Comic Book writers. DC has mostly scraps besides a small few

So I'd guess I'd have to do a workshop session to remind everyone how good stories and characterization work, which makes me sound so pretentious like I'm some award winning writer, but you're asking me, and I wouldn't know what else to attempt

Because even if we DO get the characters the right personalities, and the artists to try harder on drawing the characters specifically the way they're intended to look, it won't matter much if we can't have stories competently told

Not that I blame the comic book writers a whole lot, because think of the feedback they're getting. They're getting it from a source that enjoys generic, tropey, trash. How can they realize they need to improve when that's their immediately seen response?

It wouldn't be impossible to get things back on the right track. I just can't help but feel they don't have anyone willing to do what's needed to fix it up.

ZEREF DRAGNEEL - PORTRAYAL MASTER POST

This post is to cover all major canon divergences as well as any important details that are worth sharing about my portrayal of Zeref. All of these points remain no matter the verse unless stated otherwise or plotted with specific partners. Zeref Genuinely is such a fascinating character and Villain. It sucks Ma.shima was the writer behind him. Please Note: Zeref's Portrayal is very heavily tied to my Mavis Portrayal

1 ) By nature, Zeref is a very kind and gentle person. His value for life is a driving factor as to how he became who he is and why he does everything he can. It was his goal to preserve and cherish life that ended him up with the curse to kill so many, and that's why his death count is so high.

2 ) Zeref is unable to be consistent with his thoughts and actions, typically contradicting himself, even within the same conversation. The curse has forced his mind into an ongoing game of backtracking and reprocessing, not wanting to take any more lives but also attempting to be so apathetic that he could care less if they were taken or not. It's such an intense balancing game that many view him as insane as he attempts to keep it up

3 ) While he desperately attempts to keep his distance, Zeref is extremely charismatic and persuasive when he is actively engaged. He knows how to command a room and be a strong presence, making it hard to be ignored. However, despite these traits, he attempts to act with the interest of everyone in best, not himself.

4 ) In general, Zeref is harmless to interact with, as long as you don't attempt to form a strong connection or bond with him. He will keep all interactions and conversations as short as possible and refuses to learn personal details. The only reason he had agreed to teach Mavis and the other founders magic was due to Mavis's manipulation

5 ) Alvarez was not formed by any militaristic means, but was rather diplomatic in nature. Zeref is so apposed to death and puts himself in a deep self imposed isolation that I genuinely refuse to believe he would use extremely force and cause hundreds of deaths to unite guilds. Zeref united the guilds to prevent growing conflicts between them and also strengthen their individual means by opening up more trade routes and alliances. Alvarez existed as a project to see if he still does maintain some bit of his humanity, that he still has the compassion and mental stability to bring forth good, especially after all the cults and death that have come from his actions.

6 ) Zeref truly was in love with Mavis, through it was an extremely misconstrued notion of love. Zeref had spent the last 300 years in isolation, alone and with the genuine belief there shall be no company and relief for his curse and mistake, so to find another with the exact same curse, it filled him with a deep love and determination to keep the one thing that could very much become a consistent. He became possessive of Mavis and the idea of not being alone, of having someone to rely on. These emotions overwhelmed him and considering the closest feeling he had to this was the love of his brother, he believed himself that this is what love is.

7 ) Following Mavis 'death', Zeref developed Schizoid personality disorder, having lost his one true chance of forming a genuine connection. Its extremely difficult to get close to him, as he will shut down any attempts before they begin.

8 ) The war on Fairy Tail was about the Lumine Histoire, but much less about the desire for the unlimited magic. Even though their time together was limited, he was aware that Mavis would have wanted death, it was what she had asked of him when they were reunited, and his goal was to destroy the artifact, in hopes of granting Mavis one final sense of peace. If it meant taking the magic for himself so she would be rid of her curse or using it to rewrite time, so be it. His end goal was Mavis' death and eternal rest, but he knew his reputation and relationship with the guild would limit any hopes of diplomacy about the actions, especially considering how highly Makarov had deemed and swore to protect it. War was truly his only option, despite how much he hated needless death.

9 ) Cannot believe I forgot to include this when I was originally writing this. ZEREF IS NOT AUGUST'S BIOLOGICAL FATHER. ZEREF DOES NOT HAVE ANY CHILDREN. I stated this in my Mavis portrayal notes, but the entire implications around August is genuinely awful, on top of that Zeref would never want a child considering he knows he'd end up killing them, either by forcing himself to neglect them or by loving them and the curse taking hold. Zeref is not a father. Zeref never had kids. Mashima fucking STOP.

Headcanons and such || Accepting!

💝 A headcanon about their love language

Lena doesn't have one specific love language, but she responds most consistently to acts of service. Living such a busy life - and with Emily living such a busy life as well - time together and physical touch are nice, but often difficult to get. Lena suffices with acts of service as a good receiving love language, where Emily might prep her uniform or prepare her dinner. In response, Lena's expressive love language is absolutely gift giving.

This is multifaceted. She gives gifts to everyone she loves, Byan, Cole, Emily, Jack, Angela, etc. Often times they're little knick knacks picked up during her travel - Byan might get a little figurine of the Effiel tower, maybe, or maybe a scrap of some fancy soft fabric from abroad. These little gifts are important to her to pick up while she's travelling, because that's how she shows love to those around her.

💔 An angsty headcanon

Not aging seems like a superpower orginally, that she would live forever in a 26 year old body. Sure, there's some aches and pains, but otherwise she's very healthy. But at the same time, perpetual life means denial. It means watching her friends and family get old, get sick, die. Holding Emily, with her ginger hair turned grey, as she takes her last breath. It means that it's Lena, standing, at the end of everything, the heat death of the world.

There are some ways to potentially mitigate this, but's almost impossible. When Lena does eventually leave Earth, she believes that her conscious will be reassumed back to the spaces between time, into the cosmic balance of the universe. Maybe she'll become the next Time, who knows. Her time on this world is an unlimited, wretched clock, ticking down the destruction of everything she holds dear.

📓 A headcanon about their hobbies

Wow that one was kinda dark, huh?! Here's this one instead - Lena really enjoys art. She has since she was a kid. Oil paints are her favorite, but most of her projects start off as a sketch before it gets the privilege of being bumped up to oil painting. These are mostly for her big projects, with sketchbooks filled with painted and half-painted projects.

She finds the process very stabilizing, settling into each brush stroke, usually to the sound of loud music. It's one of the few times she can sit still, limbs finally slowing to a melodic dance against the page/canvas. For people she loves dearly, she'll paint something and gift it to them for a holiday.

It also means she doodles and graffities all over everything. Once, she and Genji spray painted a dick into the hair of the gaudy SC Morrison statue just because they could. Good luck finding a napkin not covered in ink.

😬 A headcanon about the worst thing they’ve done

There's a lot of ways I could take this, but the heat death of the universe already took the mood way down.

Once, Lena loosened the bolts on a balance beam before a gymnastics competition to try and beat the Head Bitch who had always been cruel toward her. It was successful - the beam broke, and the girl ended up breaking her tibia. She recovered okay, but Lena's always felt very guilty about that one.

Headcanon:  Physical Mass and Strength 

Time to fucking ramble again.  

This is just going to have to work so I can talk about what I brain rotted all day at work now.

We’re going to talk about shit like weight and physical strength.

I needed everyone to see that under all that pretty white cloth there is muscle mass.  

Kumo roughly weighs between 180 and 200lbs and this is just me brain rotting my son’s sheer fucking strength to be able to do things like pull the Maken straight down from over his head:

and to one hand lift and swing The Maken without flinching.

Kumo more often than not, is holding / wielding the Maken in either of it’s forms one handed. (Generally his right.) So I needed you all to see that there is muscle under all those pretty white robes. There is mass to that body and it is solid fucking muscle.

I’ve rambled about Kumo’s lower body strength before but let’s talk about his upper. Kumo can lift at least twice his own weight -> I.E.

This tiny Cloud just lifts his Other bridal style and flies off with him. He just pulls this pure crystal sword from the air above his head and doesn’t flinch. I’ve talked about how Kumo’s lower body strength is there because he needs to have a strong foundation but his core strength is crazy too because he has to balance those pressurized lungs of his and balance that sword at his back all day.  Kumo’s lungs function like living air tanks remember that keep vapor under pressure within his chest so he is insanely top heavy.  His body had to build strength to compensate for that. 

This man is one solid block of muscle. 

So that’s why it brings me to this: 

He’s all muscle and he can lift so much weight with just his base strength it’s crazy.  Add into this fact that Kumo possesses the strength of A God / A Dragon. He can easily lift more than twice his own weight and honestly more like three times due to the additional boosts he gets in strength from these things.  So for anyone to be able to overpower him in a physical sense is saying something. 

Look I’ve been brain rotting his physical mass and strength all day and he is “Tiny but Mighty” by definition. He is Unlimited for a reason, and a living God.  So his stats are going to be a little bit insane, okay? Now I’m not saying he doesn’t have other things going on. 

That scar on his belly being one of the most major issues he has going on.  The Unlimited are supposed to be Godly and just think of it like - every time they Seal Chaos - Chaos in turn “Nerfs” one of them.   Y’know shattering Kaze’s mind and shattering Kumo’s soul. 🙃🙃🙃

I’m not saying he’s undefeatable. I’m not saying he doesn’t have weaknesses, because he DOES and they’re major ones. I’m just saying that this 5′6″ Cloud even without his sword is a force to be fucking reckoned with and when he laughs and tells you he weighs more than he looks like he does - he’s going to continue to set there laughing while you figure that out the hard way. 

Meanwhile Kaze also looks at his Other and just goes lift.
