|| #RATHYATRA 2019 || When the stone sculpture changes into a floral fort...!!! A never before decoration of #PuriShreeJagannathTemple from its inception / establishment, i.e. 12th century till date. The whole temple is decorated with 20 trucks of flowers, 200 workers have reported to be worked for it. A Delhi based businessman K K Sharma, who is also a great devotee of shree Jagannath has contributed this decoration from his pocket. He denied to say the expenses and said that if he would say the amount, it would show his EGO..!! There is nothing to be discussed between a God and his devotee. Previously he had also decorated the Punjab Golden Temple and Somnath Temple of Gujrat. Some of his odia friends insisted him to do the same practice in Shree Mandira. And he too applied it at the Shree #JagannathTemple Administration. The administration had given their consent and he, with his workers started working day n night to give the temple a floral extravaganza. He had decorated the Shree Gundicha temple too. And the decorations will be done on Bahuda jatra, Suna Besha and Niladri Bije. https://www.instagram.com/p/B0Hk9nUhKA9/?igshid=108i085xjf0ud

*Jagannath Rathyatra* The annual extravaganza of car festival or the Rath Yatra that opens up from the Dwiteeya tithi of every Ashada Masa Shukla Paksha or the bright fortnight in Hindu calendar attracts people from all over the globe. The event of this kind — Rath Yatra — is believed to be the oldest such spectacle in the world. The statues of presiding deities of Jagannath Temple in Puri in the State of Odisha namely, Lord Jagannath or Lord Krishna, his elder brother Balram, and younger sister Subhadra Devi, and the divine disc of Lord Krishna called Sudarshan are taken out in a procession in gigantic chariots to Gundicha Temple, which is about two km. away from the main temple. The chariots remain at Gundicha Temple for nine days, after which the Bahuda Jatra or the return journey of the chariots from Gundicha Temple to the main temple at Puri will begin. The enchantingly bedecked chariots replicate the temple structures. The pulling of chariots through the thoroughfares of Puri is known as Badadanda. The significance of Badadanda is that this is the only occasion when non-Hindus and foreigners can have the Darshan of the main deities. Another important aspect of Badadanda is that this particular event takes place to recall the memory of the annual visit of the Lord, along with his elder brother and younger sister, to the abode of his aunt. Thousands of people from across the world throng Puri to not only have a glimpse of the deities but also participate in the chariot-pulling ceremony, which is deemed to propitiate the Lord and secure his grace and blessings. One important ritual, which is a part of the Rath Yatra, is the Bahuda Jatra or Bahuda Jatra, which is the return journey of the three deities to the main temple at Puri, after spending the seven days’ in their aunt’s house. On their return journey too, the chariot of Lord Jagannath halts at Mausi Maa temple or the Ardha-Sani temple, where the Lord is offered his favourite dish called rice cake, which in local language is known as Poda Pitha, by his aunt. The rituals prior to Rath Yatra include Snana Yatra and Anasara. ☺#MIC✔ツ (at Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh) https://www.instagram.com/p/BzgDSXfFNF8wLpMxbkPw6CWIq6zez0r5E2HVQ40/?igshid=1jjxvf1er9epv

The annual Ratha Yatra in Puri commemorates Lord Jagannath’s visit to his birthplace, Gundicha Temple. It is believed that he also visits his aunt’s home with his siblings, Balabhadra and Subhadra on the occasion. This year, the Ratha Yatra is set take place from July 4 to July 15, which, according to traditional Odia calendar, falls on the second day of Shukla Paksha of the Hindu lunar month of Ashadha. Each year, three new chariots called Nandighosha, Taladhwaja, and Devadalana are built from scratch for the festival by a team of around 1,400 volunteering carpenters. Once every nine to 19 years, when the month of Ashadha is followed by another month of Ashadha (known as "double-Ashadha"), a Nabakalebar ritual takes place. Nabakalebara, which translates to ‘new body’, refers to when the wooden temple idols from the previous year are replaced with new ones. In the last century, the ritual was performed in 1912, 1931, 1950, 1969, 1977, 1996, and 2015. The new idols are crafted from neem wood from specially chosen trees. According to scriptures, the tree is chosen subject to its number of branches, color and location. These are secretly brought back to Jagannath temple in wooden carts. Then a special team of carpenters is made to look after the carving process. They carve the idols inside the temple in a delicate manner. This practice is known as Koili Baikuntha. While the new idols are carved, Vedas sings devotional songs. Important ritual days and dates that one needs to keep in mind during this year are Sri Gundicha- July 4, Hera Panchami- July 8, Bahuda Yatra- July 12, Suna Besha- July 13 and Niladri Bijaya- July 15. If one is planning to attend the Ratha Yatra, they should be careful of the risk of getting lost in the immense crowd. Some safety measures that need to be taken care of are staying hydrated, keeping medicine kit for injuries and wearing loose, summer friendly clothes for remaining cool. . #NYKSavvy #jayjagannath #jaijagannath #jagannathswami #chariot #rathjatra #rathyatra #lordjagannath #jagannath #jagannathpuri #hope #devotion #lordoftheuniverse #puri #love #hindu #odisha #juggernaut #festival #jagannathtemple #purijagannath #utkaldeepika https://www.instagram.com/p/BzfMg4Sly7Y/?igshid=1xgz0panhksvh
