Also tagging @vikobelo because of the 🐻
🐻 Your go-to things to draw when you need comfort?
Honestly, this one's probably really obvious! But I always fall back on my two favourite OCs: Yuned'rar and Baezil. It's usually whatever fandom/AU I'm currently into. So right now it's Saivar, or Vulcan!Baezil. I haven't quite figured out Ysam, or Andorian!Yuned'rar, but I will eventually.
🎼 Your favorite music to draw to right now?
This may sound really weird but I don't listen to music while I draw. I actually find it weirdly distracting and hard to focus. Instead -- and this will sound even weirder given the aforementioned -- I just go through my "watch later" list on youtube and I primarily watch/listen to 30+ minute long videos which are more like podcasts. Documentaries are also great. If it's not something very distracting, but enough stuff that I can half-listen to and half-tune out then I'm good.
I sometimes want to rewatch a show that I've seen, like Star Trek: The Next Generation, but, even though I'm familiar with it, I still find myself stopping and just watching it. Docs, however, I've watched while drawing since I was a kid so it's much more natural.
🙌 Draw a doodle with your non-dominant hand
🌊 What’s the hardest thing for you to draw?
Mecha or robots, probably? I think if I had a general interest in them I'd be able to figure them out and feel more at ease with drawing them. But I really just...don't care for most mecha or robot things so even with references I just do not have a good time with it. There are very few times where I've accepted those for commissions.
Another is hugging and kissing. Unlike robots I do enjoy drawing physical contact like that. It's super sweet and makes me happy. Actually aligning and figuring out how bodies, limbs, and faces come together in a 3D space and then translating that into 2D art, on the other hand, is hard. I often do compile references from image searches and even putting together 3D model poses.

I meant to go to bed already but then I started thinking about something and you know how that goes.
Over a year ago I tried drawing a night elf version of Baezil but I didn't really like it. Now, given that I'm significantly more familiar with them, I'm going to try again.
Well. Then I started to ponder what he would be like in WoW. Seeing as I have Valandus currently, who isn't Baezil but definitely share some characteristics, I'm not planning on making yet another druid*. In brief, though, this would be Baezil:
I can't see him as anything but an insomniac and pretty neurotic elf druid. It's like the sylvari version has most of what Baezil would consider positive traits within himself and this version has more of the negative ones. His obsessive tendencies would carry over more into trying to fix every forest and wipe out corruption. He would collect exotic flowers to fill his own garden up.
*I always end up doing things that I say I won't so we'll see what happens, lmao.

I'm not sure the last ask sent, Chrome blew up. Anyway! Since that gif is making me only think of somehow embarrassing things, what would Baezil say the most embarrassing thing he's done has been?
Tumblr kept screwing up every time I tried to answer this, oh my godddd.
TBH, Baezil’s still terribly embarrassed over getting turned on by the dartflower that Thistles gifted him*. He was just ready to climb into a hole and hermit away.
*He keeps forgetting that he was high as a kite, kind of drunk, and that with overexcitedness just didn’t work out in his favour 9__9

Do the OC thing, all the things, for Baezil. :D
As soon as I saw you sent an ask I knew it’d be ALL THE THINGS for Baezil!!
Behind a cut because this got long (I can ramble).
1: What’s your OC’s biggest insecurity and how would they react if someone pointed it out to them?
Baezil's biggest insecurity is his Obsessive Compulsive Disorder -- and, to a much lesser extent, his anxiety and paranoid tendencies. He's had a marked improvement in the past decade or so and currently only his spouse is aware that he has this issue and works with him on it.
It's absolutely not something that he likes getting out or being noticed or pointed out by anyone, however. If it is, Baezil goes sort of "silent angry" and partially shuts down or gets pretty short with the person. He'd end all current communication with them and either dismiss them or leave the scene, himself, as smoothly as possible.
This is a lot better than how he was perhaps fifteen to twenty years ago. Baezil was much more prone to emotional outbursts and low-key tantrums. He's worked very hard on his temper.
Unfortunately, it's rare that he'd stop and explain to the offender on what they did to upset him unless they're his spouse or other very close friends or family.
2: If your OC wants to buy a firearm, what it might be for?
Baezil has a rifle and a blaster. Both are for work. He wouldn't otherwise have a weapon.
3: Does your OC behave differently around different people, if so with whom and how?
Absolutely. In public and around most people he doesn't know, Baezil is very formal, damn reserved on personal opinions about anything aside from work, and refrains from showing too many emotions. A small, polite smile is the most one will get. He uses titles only and will correct anyone he doesn't consider a good friend, family, or spouse. He'll only discuss his work and literally nothing else. Baezil probably overcompensates with formalities and politeness because he finds social interaction to be confusing and frightening at the best of times. 100% plants.
Good friends and family get a considerably more relaxed and personable Baezil. He'll smile, will lightly laugh at jokes (even if he doesn't understand the joke, which is nearly always). He'll actually talk about himself/his family. If upset about something, Baezil will still be disinclined to express it and will either push that away temporarily or remove himself from a situation if it's too bad. Maybe, like, 80% plants.
And lastly, a Baezil only his spouse and children see (maybe just his spouse right now, as he had a slightly rocky relationship with his first daughter). He'll ask him to explain jokes to him; even if that "ruins the joke" Baezil would much rather just understand what it was. He relaxes and is much more open with expressing himself, both positively and negatively. Still a lot of plants.
4: Would your OC want to involve themselves in humanitarian work? If yes, then for what? If not, then why not?
Oh, definitely! In the broader sense, his botany project is all about making plant-based medicine and produce more accessable in a variety of difficult climates.
As for immediate relief, Baezil would lend his medical expertise to a situation if they were short on volunteers.
5: How would your OC generally react to someone being verbally abusive towards them for no apparent reason?
Honestly, he would do his best to remove himself from the situation and then agonisingly analyse it for hours or days afterwards to try and figure out how and when he offended the person.
If he can't leave, he'll get defensive and possibly a little aggressive until he can leave.
6: Does your OC have a realistic image of their own intelligence?
Baezil is pretty sure that he's a genius in the realm of botany. And that's it. He believes he's pretty damn inept just about everywhere else.
BTW, not a genius as in egotistical and always correct, but as in he's very knowledgeable and creative within that field, as well as someone who can make errors and is welcome to critique.
7: Does your OC have any irrational phobias?
Not really.
8: How is/was your OC’s relationship with their parents?
Frustrating at the best of times and antagonistic at the worst, mostly in terms of his father who was very controlling and bordering on abusive towards him. His father had recently apologised and they made amends, slowly working towards a better understanding and relationship.
His mother was significantly kinder and more open to Baezil exploring and expressing himself as he preferred but...she, too, didn't understand him too well. Trying to reign her son in always proved to be a fight and she rarely, if ever, spoke up for him when her husband picked on him. So, they both considered Baezil to be a difficult child who has outbursts and rebelled against everything ever.
9: Does your OC feel a pressure to achieve or are they content and calm with doing what they can at the moment?
That was literally all Baezil did until just recently. But, getting older, and marrying Thistles and finally settling down with a permanent home, have helped shift some of his desires from being purely a workaholic to calming down a bit and enjoying other things.
Being promoted to captain and given a science ship with a research team also helped.
10: Does your OC guard their emotions by being tough? If not how would they?
That was Baezil up until maybe his mid-30s. Now he just buries them pretty deep and only lets Thistles see them.
11: How would your OC react to hearing they’re adopted?
His parents would still be his parents since they raised him, obviously, but he would be a little relieved not to be biologically related to his father.
12: What is one of the most primary things your OC feels that is missing from their life?
It used to be family (with children, specifically), but given that he has Thistles now and they're planning children it's something he's excited for and not a thing he's missing.
13: What kind of situations does your OC avoid the most?
Most large social gatherings or events, especially if there are Sith present.
14: If your OC gets into a fight with their best friend, would they wait for their friend to make up with them, or would they try to make up with their friend?
Given that Baezil's best friend is also his husband, I think it'd be a race as to which one of them will make up first. But, Baezil's definitely not the type to wait for apologies; he'd go ahead and do that in nearly every situation because he never believes his reaction is the correct one.
(Honestly they got into a very mild argument once and Baezil apologised for getting upset)
15: Does your OC consider themselves a good person?
Generally, yes.
16: Is your OC good at giving others validation of their feelings and making them feel understood?
Baezil's pretty empathetic and understanding of people who get upset but he doesn't necessarily...understand why people may become upset or react in certain ways to things. He'd definitely try his best to give advice, but in the past this has always turned out to be pretty useless.
17: Does your OC suffer from any mental health issues?
He has diagnosed OCD, for which he had therapy and has worked very hard on making manageable. His anxiety and paranoia go hand in hand with that.
Baezil also suffered from depression for...probably the majority of his life. As that was brought on by outside elements, it's improved significantly in the past few years as those elements have either been resolved or are being resolved.
18: What kind of intrapersonal values does your OC have? (values about their self, what makes them feel like a valid person)
...Uh. He's still working on this.
19: What boosts your OC’s confidence the most?
When Thistles tells him he did a Good and when his botany experiments come back with good results.
20: Does your OC hurt others often unintentionally? If yes, how?
Baezil is always extremely worried that he'll hurt someone as he's definitely done so in the past, either with insensitive comments about aliens or just being very blunt in a situation that had apparently required a more gentle approach.
Hence, one of the many reasons he's very restrained in most social situations.
21: Does your OC hurt others often intentionally? If yes, how?
No... Okay, other than a few fights he intentionally picked in his youth, he doesn't.
22: How does your OC usually show affection? Are they openly romantic or more restricted with their affectionate emotions?
Baezil wants and tries to show affection more openly but he's: A) incredibly inexperienced and is, as a result of that, very shy and somewhat embarrassed, and B) worries that he'll do something Wrong that would hurt or upset his spouse somehow.
It's not all bad, though; he can give Thistles hugs and kisses without internally freaking out.
23: Does your OC tend to hide something about their personality/essence when meeting new people? If yes, what?
Refer to questions 1 and 3!
He absolutely does not, however, hide that he's a giant botanist nerd who cares about plants more than he cares about most people.
24: How would your OC react if they got humiliated by someone in a group of people?
Oof. He'd literally flip a table, yell at someone, and leave.
25: How would your OC process the grief caused by the death of a loved one?
Briefly: depression, reclusiveness, and alcohol.
For longer: work, work, work.
26: What is the most intense thing your OC has been battling with?
Honestly, probably trying to understand himself, his identity, and coming to terms with it.
27: Does your OC practise any kind of escapism? If yes, what kind?
Work. So much work. He's much better now, but he used to just work all of the time and would sometimes not even return home to sleep at night.
28: How would your OC react if a bully stole their lunch money in high school?
He would have tried to fight them. He would have also lost.
29: How does your OC behave in the face of a conflict?
Baezil sets out to try to resolve the conflict, taking any possible safe routes before getting more aggressive/
30: What makes your OC defensive quickest?
Saying his work is bad and not giving any evidence of it. Oh boy, would they be in for a lecture.

You did Basil, what about Baezil? How about the whole Chiss name?
Okay, let’s see: Zib’aezi’lux
Z: How do they sleep? In a t-shirt and comfy pyjama pants. So far he’s only slept in less when he was on Tatooine. Baezil usually sleeps on his side – left side preferable. Likely falls asleep pretty often, hugging or being hugged by his husband.
I: On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do they love themselves? Maybe a 6/10. I used to be much lower but he’s slowly getting there.
B: Do they have any allergies?Nope.
A: What are/were this character’s best subjects in school?Mathematics and chemistry. He was actually pretty bad with the more creative subjects such as writing or visual arts.
E: How are they with children?Baezil loves kids so much. Kids make him happy and they make him want kids. Or more kids in the near future. (Don’t worry, they’ll stop at two)
L: What is their favourite board game?If there were a botany-themed trivia game thing…he’d be all over it.
U: What’s their voice like?Like this! And this!
X: What’s their most petty little secret?Baezil’s sort of a pacifist (??) but he quietly likes seeing his husband punch out bad guys. Is that…right?
Edit I forgot the U somehow!

A New Face in the Labs
Just a short thing on when Baezil first transferred to the toxicology labs and met Isora.
______________________________________________________________
Baezil stepped up to the door of one of the toxicology laboratories within the lower levels of the Sanctum. He had a fresh haircut and a clean-shaven face. Determination filled him…as well as anxiety. Swallowing, he attempted to push the latter feelings down, and then held his new ID card out for the security panel to scan. A light gust of cool, sanitised air greeted him as the door slid open.
"Good morning," a voice said from inside. "You must be Dr Zib'aezi'lux?" The Chiss name was spoken crisply, which startled Baezil just a touch. He hadn't been aware that another one was working in these labs but decided it might make things easier.
"Ah— Y-Yes. Yes, that's me," Baezil said, cringing to himself as he caught his own nervous stutter. He stepped inside the lab proper and looked about, still not catching sight of the other apparent Chiss, who must have been just out of view. "How did you know?"
"Simple," the voice said. "I saw you on the security monitor." The other Chiss poked his head out of a smaller office within the lab, a light grin on his face. He seemed to briefly size Baezil up before approaching him. Baezil was six, maybe seven inches taller than him, and a few years younger. "I'm Dr Thi'sor'alann. You're very early if I may say so!"
"I didn't wish to be late, Doctor," Baezil said quietly.
"It's quite all right. And please, call me Isora. Everyone else here does." He caught the light frown on Baezil's face and smirked. "It may not be what you're accustomed to, Zib'aezi'lux, but it helps with clarity down here. That, and no-one else can quite say my full name down here." Isora paused again, smirking. "And with the two of us here, no one can call us 'blue guy' without causing a bit of confusion, don't you agree?"
Isora was, in Baezil's opinion, extremely casual. He wasn't entirely sure how to take it all in. "Ah— I understand…I think. You and the team are permitted to address me as Baezil."
"Baezil," Isora repeated. "Like the herb?"
"Yes."
"Good, good," Isora said, clasping his hand behind his back. "Since you are here so early, how about we take a seat in the office and have some caf? We can get to know each other a bit and I can assist you in fitting in with the rest of my little group here."
Baezil nodded in reply and then followed Isora into the small office, which had been turned into a bit of a break room. There was a caf machine, an electric tea kettle, a microwave, and a small conservator. Isora gestured towards one of the three chairs settled around a small, square table that was pushed against the wall. Baezil took a seat. Isora prepared them both a cup of caf, and then took the seat opposite him.
"I went over the files that were transferred to me. Your CV, summaries of your research papers," Isora said, switching to Csillan. By the intonations he used, he must have been from Sposia. Baezil was quietly impressed at just how well the other managed to mask his accent when speaking Basic, something he still felt he struggled with. "On one hand, I'm incredibly impressed and grateful that you were sent to work with us. You'll be a wonderful asset, truly. On the other hand, I'm curious as to why you were let go from your previous position. Was the medical field not to your liking?"
"It was," Baezil replied. Isora had a mischievous quality to him that he couldn't quite pinpoint.
"What happened, then?" Isora asked. He observed Baezil closely, which only made him tense up more. "The report said you had personal conflicts with your co-workers?"
"Is that all it says?"
"I wouldn't be asking otherwise."
Baezil wasn't sure whether or not to believe Isora, but he decided it better to answer his question. "I got into a physical confrontation with one of my co-workers. I apologised. I was much more emotionally compromised by a familial situation than I wished to believe." He pasued to sip his caf, no cream or sugar added just as he preferred it. "I assure you, Thi'sor'alann, that it won't happen here. I've fully recovered and am once again emotionally stable."
"Mm," Isora mused, "of course you are. And according to your research, you also seem to have an affinity for plants?"
"Botany," Baezil corrected.
"Of course. You know, that will be very useful here. Everyone has a strong skillset in different areas. Biology, chemistry, et cetera. I can give you projects more revelant to your interests." Isora rubbed his chin and smiled. "Perhaps, you'll be able to move somewhere more appropriate in a few years time."
"I would appreciate that, Isora. Thank you."
"You're very welcome," Isora said. He smiled again, and that mischievous quality showed once more. "May I ask a few…personal questions?"
"I may not answer if they're too personal."
"That's quite all right. I understand that perfectly." Isora took a sip of his own caf now that it had significantly cooled. "How long have you been in the Empire? I, myself have been here about ten years."
Baezil took a moment to calculate it. "About twenty-four years."
"Oh." There was touch of surprise in Isora's voice. "Do you have a family here with you?"
"I am married."
"Any children?"
"No," Baezil said. It was a well-rehearsed, well-intentioned lie.
"That's a shame," Isora said. "But you're young. You still have time, hmm?"
Baezil faltered, but only briefly. "My wife and I are focused on our careers at this point in our lives." Isora noted how sterile the word 'wife' sounded in the statement. Likely an arranged marriage, he noted, pitying the man before him.
"I have one last question," Isora said, a teasing tone entered his voice. "What was a handsome married man such as yourself doing sitting all alone in the Nexus Room with an entire oonberry pie to himself?"
"Ah—" Baezil felt himself visibly blush. He was sure that no one was watching him. Why would anyone watch him? "Are you married, Thi'sor'alann?" He hoped that a topic change would save him from embarrassment.
"No, no," Isora said, chuckling, "I'm not a family man. And don't worry, Zib'aezi'lux, we all have our guilty pleasures. You enjoy pies, while I prefer Twi'leks." Baezil stared at him. It was a lot of rather personal information and he wasn't sure how to process it.
What did he mean by Twi'leks in that context? Twi'lek pie? Twi'lek…meat? No, he wouldn't be consuming them. Or would he? Did he mean he enjoyed them in more intimate settings? Baezil narrowed his eyes and stared at his empty cup, really doing his best to piece it together. Too many obscure thoughts rushed around, trying to put some context to the phrase. Twi'leks. Pie. Twi'leks. Pie.
"Don't worry about it," Isora said, hoping to snap Baezil out of whatever trance he fell into. "It was just a joke. I'll choose my words more carefully next time."

1, 3, 9, 15, and 24 for Baezil, Yuned’rar, and Mok.
Baezil
1: What’s your OCs favorite color?Magenta.
3: What’s your OCs favorite food?Simple dumplings with meat (beef or pork).
9: What are some of your OCs weaknesses?Young people in distress. He always wants to help all the children -- although more often than not the "children" are young adults. But still! And for younger children, he just wants to adopt them all and take care of them. He has very strong parenting needs, apparently.
15: What makes your OC angry?A lot of minor things used to set him off but he's cooled down a lot in the past decade. I think now it's mostly disrespect?
24: What does your OC smell like?He usually smells faintly of flowers and of his cologne, which is fairly neutral and not overbearing.
Yuned’rar
1: What’s your OCs favorite color?Teal and also purple.
3: What’s your OCs favorite food? The SW equivalent to Moroccan baked fish with chermoula. Seafood in general, though.
9: What are some of your OCs weaknesses? His impulsiveness. Yuned'rar is usually fairly cautious with things but he's still just as likely to just jump at something without considering consequences.
15: What makes your OC angry?People with no understanding of his personal space and anyone who flirts too much at his partners. (He can be a jealous and possessive little shit.)
24: What does your OC smell like?Sand.
Mok
1: What’s your OCs favorite color?Wine red.
3: What’s your OCs favorite food?Strawberry ice cream.
9: What are some of your OCs weaknesses?Silk pyjamas.
15: What makes your OC angry? Not much at all, really. If someone questions his masculinity too much, that'd rile him up, but I honestly don't see that happening very often if at all.
24: What does your OC smell like?Probably wine.

19: Have they ever been injured? Sick? How do they deal with it? (Any character!)
I’ll go with Baezil because I'm boring and can't think of anyone else. I mean, there's Djonwi, but he's practically a walking injury.
Baezil's been injured a few times, most of them involved "physical confrontations" with colleagues, as he'd put it. Once he fought a Zabrak, because Baezil had zero common sense at the time, and left that with a black eye, a fractured jaw, and a dislocated shoulder.
More recently, he was attacked by a Skel when he, his partner Thistles, and their son entered a cave on Hoth to take shelter from a blizzard. Baezil had a broken arm after that.
Generally, Baezil is not stubborn and is fairly easy-going. With an injury or illness that keeps him from being independent or doing his routines makes him fairly annoyed and vaguely anxious.
He still tries to do everything that he does when he's well and fights everything to continue doing so. With the broken-arm incident, the first week was generally him being very grumpy, not taking any of Thistles's help anywhere until it finally became obvious to him that he really couldn't do a Thing without aid.
Baezil really needs to learn to take his own advice and take actual "sick days" when he's sick or injured instead of pushing through and pretending everything's fine.

poképolitics
I wonder what governance and politics are like in the pokéverse. Pokémon are so central to social, economic, and land management practices that you have to imagine they’d be central to any major political platform. Would there be debate about league/battling regulations? Debates about how best to improve/maintain/overhaul infrastructure to meet the needs of traveling trainers and regular peeps with normal jobs and cars? I imagine decisions like importing zangoose to deal with invasive rattata would be the sort of thing that was most controversial, and any politician would have to take a position on crime/gang issues.
You know that people would want to know all about candidate’s pokémon teams/partners and their battling style. I wonder if the ability to mega-evolve your partner would give you publicity points? You’d think very carefully about what pokémon you campaigned with and what they said about the image you were trying to cultivate, and stereotypes about dif. pokémon/types would be drive public debate and a million thinkpieces. I mean, this sounds silly but I can see a sort of token/ceremonial pokémon battle being involved in debates. I’d love to hear more ideas about poképolitics if anyone has any...
