DEVLOG #7: DECEMBER 2024 ❄️

It's holiday season! Time for ANOTHER update! (Can't believe we've done seven of these so far. Wow.) 🎙️All of Bad Summer's romanceable interests are now PARTIALLY voiced. It's a Christmas miracle. But we're not stopping here, folks. We want our side characters voiced too! It's a W.I.P however, and a more expensive endeavor than we realized. 😅

We're currently working on our FINAL trailer before demo release. We're really cranking up the production value for this one folks. We don't wanna spoil the surprise, however. But keep a lookout for something special soon! 👀 We're also redoing our website. It kinda sucks currently, and is desperate need of a facelift. More info on that soon! ❤️

DEVLOG #6: OCTOBER 2024 🎃

It's spooky season! 😱 Time for an update guys!

DEMO PROGRESS📝

It feels like we're always chasing the next deadline, but things have been going smoothly enough! We've made substantial progress on our upcoming visual novel, Bad Summer. We've been working tirelessly on getting this demo out by the END OF THE YEAR!

CODING💻

The programming portion has been the biggest difficulty so far. Our two coders have been banging their heads against the wall (literally) trying to figure out the more complex stuff, like QTE's and interactable images. We've also added some really cool time consuming features like achievements:

Any platinum trophy completionists out there? 🏆 We got you, fam. Oh, and don't forget Bad Summer goes heavy on the horror elements. You can die in this game. You can fail. Yep. That's a thing now. Look down. ⬇️

ART! NEVER ENOUGH ART! 🎨

All our sprites and backgrounds are done and ready to go for the demo. CG's as well, don't worry. But we decided to add in some more super cute additions when horror stuff isn't happening:

There's a lot needing to be done, mostly small little fixes to give the game extra polish:

Fix the UI. Like seriously, the UI needs help BAD! We're working on it...one day at a time. 😅

Do a casting call. Find some voice actors to bring our cast of colorful characters to life. If there's any aspiring voice actors/professionals out there reading this post...please reach out! DMs are open! 💖

Add more achievements. NEVER ENOUGH ACHIEVEMENTS.

More playtesting. More and more playtesting. Must get the bugs ironed out. Super important.

Clean up any possible typos in the script. Proofreading sucks, but it's necessary.

We're really pumped for this project and the day we can throw it up on Itch.io for you all to experience! Even though you don't know much about it yet, we think you'll be blown away by the quality AND the jump scares! 💀
