In our book, threatening a 16-year-old (seriously, what the heck is wrong with some of you people?) is the worst Good Omens take of all.

He... he has literally always had the choice to show Aziraphale the door???? If anything he has never had the choice to choose to NOT show Aziraphale the door! Why aren't we talking about the fact that Crowley's never had the chance to openly express his love to his husband and tell him how much he means to him?? That's the real injustice here.

It would be SO MUCH EASIER and infinitely safer for both of them to show each other the door and yet for 6000 years they have chosen again and again (and again and again and again and again and again) not to do that! That's part of what makes their relationship so beautiful!

I mean, yes, there's a kernel of truth in there about how the fandom woobifies Crowley and treats him like some kind of pitiful golden retriever with no mind of his own. That annoys us too here at BAT. (Seriously, we talk about it at least once a week 😂) He's also our good Autistic not-a-boy, and we won't let anyone babify him on our watch. (Is 'babify' a word? Whatever, it is now lol.) But... isn't implying that he doesn't have a choice about staying with Aziraphale an act of woobification in itself?

Oh and Aziraphale had to be 'talked into trying to save the world' BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY WAY TO DO IT!!! He agreed the moment he heard a viable plan for stopping Armageddon that wouldn't get him or Crowley incinerated.

And... "doing nothing for 6000 years"? Don't even get me started, ugh.

If there's a #BadGoodOmens take the entire fandom can agree is foul, this has gotta be it. 10/10, I have no notes. This is the perfect bad take, the bad take supreme. It surpasses the powers of a poor mortal like me to attempt to engage with it. Trying to actually explain why it's problematic would be like trying to scale a glass wall.

Instead, I propose we take a moment to savor the irony of the fact that that they misspelled "earnest" as "Ernest" when that happens to be the central pun in "The Importance of Being Earnest" - a pillar of queer literature.

I detest the stereotype that every homophobe is a queer person in the closet with every fiber of my being, but I am only human, and I confess that I am struggling mightily against the temptation to make a Freudian slip joke. Or at least, I would be if I thought this person had a sufficient level of intellectual sophistication to have even heard of Oscar Wilde or ''The Importance of Being Earnest", let alone read it.

How do you feel about this cuz I’m appalled Muriel is an angel. I feel like anyone that has that take is not a real fan

Thanks for bringing this up! All the belittling of Muriel bothers me too. I think there might be undertones of anti-Autistic bias in it, because a lot what we see Muriel doing is trying to function in an environment where the social rules aren't obvious to them. Saying someone like that is annoying and helpless is... well, I can't think of any *good* explanation for an attitude like that, let's put it that way.

The angel thing is a good point. I've seen this same attitude with (the very Autistic-appearing) angel-Crowley as well and it's like... um, hello, she CREATED A NEBULA? <<

Just because they are cute, do not underestimate them! They could both kick our asses 😅

And no problem! We welcome all bad (and badass :) takes as submissions. I actually at one point toyed with the idea of changing our name to @badgoodomenstakes, because really our raison d'être is to call out bigoted takes in the fandom in general, rather than to plug for any one specific character. :)
