Guess who got sucked into Rain world! I can't believe I missed this game, the lore and the ecosystem was made for me yet somehow I didn't get into it until now. And don't even get me started on the music! It's sooo good

on the final boss rn so i can finally share my most hater thought on metaphor which is that the soundtrack doesnt really slap like people say it does. theres some good songs yeah but the only reasons any of them r memorable are 1) theyre the same five songs that seem to play Always and 2) that buddhist monk is in there. the major boss themes r may less exciting than the normal combat theme too. no one winged angel moment no youre not alone ffix moments no dearly beloveds no um. anything that isnt square enix coming to mind hold on. i mean come on p5s ost, burn my dread, mass destruction, etc like shoji meguro ur Better than this

i just had a thought so
basically
i'm listening to bnha ost albums and getting emotional over them and thinking abt how much i fuckin love yuki hayashi's soundtracks and how they're why i can never really hate the anime at all even when i see people complain abt things with how it was adapted—and yeah i'll acknowledge when things are cut and be annoyed too but. to say i hate the anime over it?? no i couldn't
and anyway it made me think of how i used to listen to the sao and naruto osts on youtube and sometimes i'd read the comments and it was usually a bunch of dudebros in their late teens-early 30s roughly (iirc lol) talking abt how the soundtracks were so good and how they brought up nostalgia from when they were 7, 9, 12, 13, etc etc. and i just thought. like damn
so many people on my side of fandom spaces may hate on dudebros in their fandoms but like. many of them are just here enjoying the story yk??? and like. we're such different people and yet we love the same story and (in my case example specifically) all appreciating the music from that same show and reminiscing the same moments and well. maybe we're not so different after all yk and isn't that beautiful???
me personally it makes me want to cry a little
bc we're such different people but at the end of the day we're also two people whose hearts were both touched by the same story, two people who love the same story—and through that, in that way—even though we're so different at a face level—can't we still understand each other??? can't we still find a way to reach each others hearts???

I can't stress enough how people, you, everyone should listen/watch/read/consume random 'foreign' media once in a while and generally whenever you get the opportunity World is like thousands times bigger than whatever scope any of us can comprehend in each particular moment It's easy to forget things exist outside too it like this "go for a walk" and "touch grass" advices but for soul or whatever soul-substitute you relate to This is mostly about 'foreign' as in 'created in another country/culture' but it aplies for unfammiliar things in whatever you consider your culture cause that's important too! There are so many good things outside the mainstream, popular, trendy, traditional fields you experience everyday without even realising it, not that it's inherently bad But wow, discoveries are great Watch that weird movie you have too little cultural background to understand completely, it can become your new comfort movie Listen to this random band from dozens countries away - this can turn out to be the highlight of your month and you may remember why you wanted to study that language or instrument long time ago Search that unfamiliar artist's creations, look up fashion and architecture of different places and maybe think why it's like that Read that translated book you heard something interesting about, search up foreign language poetry read out loud, dig up pre-classics and make your own judgement about it Get those century old movies to laugh at the practical effects or marvel at actually pretty smart decicions production-wise or to just go "well, no idea why that one director thinks it's great" or to look at the place you live in but century ago Don't think you'll understant everything perfectly right from the start Don't think you have to understand everything perfectly right from the start And, hey, unlike with mainstream stuff surrounding you 24/7 you can stop engaging with whatever obscure thing you found anytime you realise this is actually not for you Slight temporary confusion is probably the worst that can happen, but the best include: gaining some hope in humanity back; less chance of believing whatever fearmongering going on today and tomorrow; new things to discuss; probably a bunch new favourites (especially for common genres, like hey, there's always more romance and horror created every day in literally any country); new ideas, inspiration, hacks, perspective, songs into a playlist; a will to live and even more unfamiliar things to look up, it really is broadening horizons World is like really big and complicated and interconnected but you can only understand it if you go out there at least through your mind
